Reviews of Yellowstone County Museum

A gem of historical regional facts. Also should be noted for giving Native Americans of the region their due historical mention. You should reserve a couple of hours since as small as it is there is lots to see. Good view on a clear day from their balcony.

Works were very nice. The only downside is,I walk with a walker. There is a downstairs, there is no elevator,or lift,to help handicap people downstairs. They say they are working on getting an elevator/lift. But if you can make it downstairs,I say go for it. There is alot to learn.

Awesome experience. The Native exhibits were awesome. Great place to check out, with out really leaving town.

Amazing museum, rich history, and a TWO HEADED COW STUFFED ANIMAL ❤️

This is a gem as precious as the Yogo sapphire and as unique to Montana.
This museum contains an interesting collection of artifacts, a great short movie, lovely selection of MT gifts.
Parking is free and easy as is admission. Donations are all they ask for. It is easy to be generous for such a special place.
Glad we came to visit from the airport.

This is a must go to family day. This place is fantastic. I will go again. So much history. The gun collection will blow your mind. Going to donate a few things. This is where they belong!

DO NOT MISS IT! One of the best Western Museums in my 65 years. Free Admission but please leave a donation.

Fantastic smaller museum in front of the airport with some of the best views in the city. Fairly unique collection including the only publicly displayed set of Indian ghost dance. Don't miss Charlie and Russell, the two headed calf. Very nice collection of firearms from 1800's to WW2.
Dance Fire
The location was difficult to get to - we went around several times as the signs were confusing. The road leading up to the museum was shared with the airport's paid parking and if you miss the turn, you need to exit entirely and start over.
The inside of the museum was very clean and well put together chronologically. The male staff was welcoming and informative on the tidbits of the museum (first floor). The second floor (dwnstrs) was surprisingly spacious with numerous collections - mainly about Chief Joe Medicine Crow. The time spent admiring the entire museum took apprx. 1.5 hours (this included the video in the beginning).
Canteen Adventures
By far one amazing Museum. The preservation and history inside of these walls is beyond what I had expected. Staff was very knowledgeable about the artifacts, the cabin, and the surrounding areas. if you're if you're ever in the Billings area this museum is a must-visit. This gets an A+ from me
