Reviews of Historic Ships in Baltimore
I had a fantastic time exploring the Historic Ships in Baltimore. I spent an afternoon wandering through and learning about each one from the amazing staff. Some tight spaces and uneven walkways to be aware of & could be a lot of legwork for little ones, but overall is welcoming & educational for all ages
Visited the Constellation and the Torsk on a recent visit to Baltimore. There are other exhibits - a coastguard ship and a lighthouse, and $20 gets you access to all four, but we only had time for the two. Docents were available to answer questions, but our tour was unguided. Great historical displays and info, plus freedom to roam and explore. Highly recommend!
Lets go boating..... I love boats. This was a great experience touring 3 historical craft. Only wish was it wasn't out of season so we could have seen everything and all of everything.
When you visit the ship, you get to visit other vessels in the harbor including a WWII sub, and more. The ship is well cared for and a step into history. We had a great time learning about the ship and exploring the many levels. This is not an accessible tour! Good shoes and attention to your footing is recommended by me. The building attached has a museum and a restroom. Interactions with employees was okay. Some were helpful and knowledgeable. Others were just there. Beautiful location. Beautiful ship.
Very good value to se 3 historic ships! My teen kid loves the history and I will sometimes just find a place on deck to settle while he explores. It was nice to have such a spectrum of military history for 1 affordable ticket, would highly recommend to anyone with interest and stamina!
If you're in Baltimore, this is 100% a must visit. The website recommends getting the tickets online, and that is definitely the best way to go about it. You can buy the ticket on your phone and then just walk up to the ships you want to visit. A staff member will be there to check your ticket and then tell you where to start your tour. It is all self-guided and there is a ton of information. I got to see the USS Constellation, the USCG Cutter, and the USS Torsk. The fourth ship was closed (probably because I was there on the off season). You can easily see all the ships in an afternoon. It is a good bit of walking though so be prepared. The USS Torsk can feel pretty cramped, so fair warning if you don't like small spaces.
This particular ship was just steps away and adjacent to our hotel. The USCGC Cutter 37 resides on Pier 5. Tours are available, but a bit pricier than we wanted to spend. However, admission will get you access to all 3 ships 🚢 …
Great piece of history in the Inner Harbour. There’s four boats you can go on for $20 including a submarine, then if you want a bit more there’s an old lighthouse too!
I was too early for the Tour of the Argentine Tall ship, but it was a beautiful sight and the crew was still very polite and helpful. Massive, beauty and historic all in one.
Totally worth it! $15 for students/teens to see and explore all three ships for as long as you like. AND you can use your ticket anytime for a whole year!! On the USS Constellation you can actually try out lying in one of the hammocks I believe.. so ask and try that!
Beautifully restored ship. Lots to read around the ship. A tour guide option would have been a great add on if it was available.
Visited some amazing ships used in WW1 and WW2. The tour is 19$ and you will have access to 3 ships with 1 being a submarine. It is absolutely worth it!
The Historic Ships in Baltimore is located in the Inner Harbor is just minutes away from The “Charm’tastic Mile”. It’s an amazing sight to see. Tourists and residents of the City and State of Maryland should take a tour. Great for school trips as well.
We took our two kids (5 and 2) down to see the ships. Our oldest is very into ships right now and this was perfect for him. The inner harbor was great - maybe the best I've ever seen it. Everyone around was very friendly. The ships were fun to see and walk around in. I'd say you could be from any walk of life and feel comfortable and have a good time here.
Only two ships were open, but that was fine by us! The boys loved being inside and exploring all the little parts that make a huge ship or submarine work!
A little overpriced to board 3 ships, but still a good time.
Great ships set up with great tour routes. The Coast Guard cutter, lightship, and submarine were interesting. The information displayed throughout each ship was informative. The lightship was especially unique compared to some other places.
The Constellation was out for maintenance unfortunately.
The only reason this was a four star review is that all the employees looked miserable and we're spending all their time on their phones or with air pods in.
Super beautiful and interesting, really nostalgic feeling as if you are back in time...
I like it even it real submarine to me it was a great adventure to see and feel it what’s like life inside a submarine even we were floating on water but inside of submarine about half the way in you feel the humidity and fan and AC were working but I was sweating just standing there a lot of gauges been used in that submarine named USS Torsk 1944 - 1968 in service.
So basically, there are four ships to tour. Best to start at the USS Constellation; the main office is here to buy tickets. Buying the tickets online is easiest. Although (I think) you could start at any ship and buy tickets.
The ships are spread throughout the Inner Harbor, so there's a bit of walking involved, but it makes for a nice morning or afternoon. Be prepared for a good 2-3 hours and that's if you go fast. (Me - I'm always looking at details, so our time was about 3.75 hours)
All the ships were open when we toured them, though I think some may be closed depending on the time of the year.
The USS Constellation is a sailing sloop-of-war and is really an amazing ship to experience. All decks were open! (WATCH YOUR HEAD BELOW DECKS!) If touring around noon, you get a interesting demonstration on how a cannon is loaded, run out, and fired (with a blank charge of course)!
The USS Torsk is a submarine and is fantastic. Gives you a great feeling of what it was like to live/work on a submarine.
The USCG Cutter 37 was fascinating and quite the adventure to climb around on.
The LIV-116 is a lighthouse ship which had quite the history, and I was really surprised to hear how large the crew was for such a small ship.
***WARNING*** if you have trouble climbing steep-ish ladders or are claustrophobic in the slightest, it may be a good idea to stay on deck. You are literally walking, ducking, and contorting through real ships.
Almost ships are manned with historians.
To get to do all the things we did and to spend a great afternoon in the Inner Harbor, the Historic Ships in Baltimore is a definite adventure to experience!
Absolutely loved learning about the different ships, and it's a great value to see the four different ships (which are all a short walk to each other). There's a lot of history with the ships, and lots of cool mechanical/engineering items to look at too.
Cool exhibit in Baltimore! Four historical ships and a lighthouse. You can buy tickets to see one, two or all of them. We did the pass to see all and spend a lovely couple of hours touring the ships. Nice to go at your own pace and check out what is important to you. Ships are well maintained! Staff mostly friendly.
Dedicated staff who maintain and provide info about 4 historic ships. Everything is well though out and we really enjoyed touring the ships. Student discounts are available and for the price it makes sense to see all 4 instead of picking 2. You can go at your own pace, so it can take anywhere from about 1-3 hours.
There are several historical ships to see of all different styles and each with its own, unique history. Hours are slim 10-a very prompt 4:30 as are a lot of the Baltimore attractions, be sure to check days and times places are open as many are closed early or several days of the week.
USS Constellation gift shop/entrance to the ship/museum. They have a pressed penny machine which is I came to the museum/gift shop so I could get the lighthouse penny. I collect these pressed penny souvenirs. We did not tour any of the ships but we did check out the lighthouse ($1 admission). Ships they have are the USCGC Taney, USS Constellation, LV116 Chesapeake, and the USS Torsk. They are located at the Inner Harbor in downtown Baltimore. They are spread between the piers – pier 1, 3, and 5. You can purchase a squadron pass and go to 2 ships or you can get the fleet pass and go to 4 ships. Pricing and other information are located on their website. I had e-mail correspondence with Dayna and she was very helpful with hours of operation for the lighthouse since the hours for it really depend on staffing each day. The female staff member inside of the Historic Ships USS Constellation museum was nice, kind, and friendly. The gift shop had cold drinks as well as souvenirs available like hats, ships, shirts, pens, pencils, etc.
Great history here. Doubtful you would ever tour a boat older than this or this much history.
Interesting several hours touring these ships in the inner harbor of Baltimore. Great attraction for visiting deep Baltimore and drawing people to the waterfront. Good illustration of how people have gotten taller, especially the sailing ship with very low ceilings below decks. So nice to have 1 ticket for all 4 ships.
Nice relaxing place for kods to walk and explore .. love the place .. too much to explore .. with so many nice restaurants around with shopping center .. and many gift shops.. they have small paddle boat area around that's good to do with kids
Very interesting tour thru the historical ship.
A good way to spend a few hours walking around and checking different ships out
Nice collection of four historic ships in the inner harbor of Baltimore. It includes USS Torsk (SS-423) - Tench class submarine, USS Constellation (she was built at 1854), a lightship Chesapeake and coast guard cutter Taney. Unique collection of the ships from different time periods.
Beautifully maintained, a well preserved heritage boat. A must visit..takes u back to the old days of slvery and sail ships..the Cannons are amazing..$15 for a pass to visit 3 ships ..
It was a pretty cool ship and it was really interesting to see where the sailors slept and the bottom floors of the ship! However, I hit my head a lot, which is what you can expect. Historians on the ship are very knowledgeable and have a lot of know-how on the ship. Also recommend the other ships in the area too.
We only visited the Torsk and the Constitution but it was a really great experience. The staff were very helpful, friendly, and able to answer all of my questions about the history of both vessels and the operation of them too. It would have been great to see the Coast Guard ship and the Chesapeake too but we ran out of time. Expect about an hour per ship.
Fun time 1 ticket paid to see all the ships, you could spend all day there and go in each ship multiple times. The Constitution had a cannon fire off at 12:00. Loud but so much fun.
A wonderful adventure through time. USS Constellation is open with 4 decks to explore. Step back in time and relive old sailing life.
USS Torsk. Walk from onevend to the other thru cramped passageways and hatches. Experience life in a WWII sub.
Very cool and well-maintained ship to explore! A unique experience and very helpful and friendly staff. Well worth the price. There are steep stairs you have to go down so those with limited mobility may not be able to go to all levels.
We had a great time touring the ship with some out-of-town guests last year. It's well-maintained and the history lessons within are very cool. Worth a visit.
Bought the all ship pass. Walked them All. Felt safe at the Inner Harbor even though I was in Baltimore. Worth the money to see these icons.
Beautiful Warship! There’s a lot of history about this boat, I’m not gonna ruin it by saying too much here. It’s definitely worth a visit and it’s amazing how well they maintain the ship. It was built in 1854!
Very cool exhibits and ships! We only toured two, but they were well worth the ticket. The volunteers on board are very knowledgeable and enhance the experience that much more! Absolutely incredible to see that much history in one place and I'd recommend it for visitors of all ages.
Kids loved learning about each of the ships & being able to enter & walk around inside of each ship! Well worth the price & nice walk to each ship!
Excellent tour. Everything on the ship is explained, and there are knowledgeable people on every level to help with anything that isn't. The children loved it.
Been here three times now on my work-related travels to DC. This waterfront area is pretty small, but worth a visit if you're in the area. The ships are kool and there's some good photo opps here. There's several restaurants located here as well. We ate at the Japanese restaurant here couple of times and it was pretty good. If your a baseball fan, the Orioles stadium is located here, too.
Did the overnight sleepover with thr cub scouts. Great tour! Super informative and the kids had a blast!
The Historic Ships in Baltimore is a fine collection of three ships and a submarine that can be toured. The location of the ships docked in the Inner Harbor is a nice area to walk around.
Really cool ship. There are four decks to explore (and low ceilings)! Fascinating to learn the history and get a glimpse into sailor's loves from years ago. Recommend that you stop in for a tour.
Fantastic ship. As you go down the decks, you get a real feel for the life on board a ship.
Checking out and going on the ships is a must do!!! Very good experience!! Riding the WWII liberty ship was awesome
We went with our five year old and our two year old. It was $20/adult, but children under 6 are free. The price also includes entrance to all of the ships. We went on the USS Torsk and the USS Constellation. They were both neat experiences for both adults and kids. Everything is very hands on and well labeled. Definitely recommend.
Fantastic. Tons of info and artifacts. You can breeze through or spend hours and read everything. Great for kids too.
We toured all 4 ships in the inner harbor. We enjoyed the history and the tour of this ship. Going all the way down to the bottom was out of this world. I tried to imagine what it would have been like to be down that far at sea in a rolling ocean. It must have been tough keeping the ship sealed. I have so much respect for the sailors that sailed back then. People were available to answer questions and we also got to see a cannon be fired. A must do if you are in Baltimore.
Loved the history. The ship was a fun and interesting stop.
Simply a must see. Its amazing how sailors back then lived and worked while at sea.
Great looking ship. Worth the visit to learn about and experience.
Very fun (if you're into historical vessels) and educational, self guided walkthrough of the ships. The Constellation is probably the most interesting of the four, but all are worth seeing. At the time of this writing, the lighthouse is not open. Watch your head (there are quite a few low clearances) and have fun learning 🙂
Very interesting history of this ship.! Must see in Baltimore
This was a pretty cool ship to visit. I think kids might like it more than adults, and I would have liked to see more informational exhibits than what there is currently . Definitely worthwhile, and if you have enough time on your visit, the 'Fleet Pass' lets you visit all 4 of the vessels maintained by Historic Ships in Baltimore.
Very cool ship with very reasonable admission prices. Definitely check this place out if you're a navy buff and want to learn more about marine boats. There's a small museum before you enter the ship that has some information and background. Stairways are a bit narrow and steep but not a problem. Headroom is limited but enough where you don't have to strain yourself. The 4 decks are very impressive that you can go all the way from the top to the bottom. Not many people when I visited so it was great to enjoy the boat without people crowding in. A lovely hidden gem.
Incredible historic ship. Friendly volunteers to answer my many questions. Good audio tour to carry around with you too.
Amazing place. You have to buy tickets if you want to see in the inside of the ship.
Had a great time touring the USS Constellation. What a cool piece of history preserved through the generations. The ceilings are a bit low and the stairs could be tricky, but the staff was wonderfully informational as well as friendly.
Came up to Baltimore during a rainy day of our vacation. This ended up being one of the kids' favorite spots. Very reasonably priced for getting to go on 3 separate ships. The favorite was the submarine and when they "shot" the cannon of the USS constellation.
Nice and windy but great for morning or evening walk or run. Great view of the water and the city
One of our favorite exhibits in Baltimore! Definitely recommend for any history buff.
One of the absolute best experiences along the East Coast. I visited Constellation, Torsk, Chesapeake, and Taney. Each one is fantastic and has their own vibe to them, and there’s plenty of plaques and information displays to make the whole experience even better and more informative at each location. If you’re a history buff, you’ll not want to miss this, and even if you’re not a huge fan of history, it’s definitely a unique experience and one that will stay with you…The sheer scale of the ships and the stories associated with them are truly special.
It was fun to crawl all over the ship. They shot the cannon while we were there. A must do if visiting Baltimore.
Very fun and educational experience for the money. Expect to spend about 30-45 min for the self guided tour.
You can see nice views of this old sailing ship while walking through the Baltimore inner harbor. I would have liked to actually take the electric tour of the USS Constellation. However we needed to make it to Washington DC in time to see all the attractions we wanted to see. Maybe on our next trip to Baltimore we can take the tour.
Anything in the Harbor is amazing. It’s always a great time every time I go. Our daughter loved every boat as well!
A must see if you ever go to Baltimore. There are two types of tickets. One for 4 ships and another for 2 ships. Since we had to catch the bus, we only had little time. Hence, we took 2 ships ticket and went only to the submarine and USS Constellation. Very educating visit.
This is a beautiful spot filled with history , technology and science. My only regret is not having time to board each vessel.
Make sure to check out the baltimore water taxi 20 for and all day pass 12 one way 10 for kids kids under 3 are free
This self-guided tour takes about 25 minutes. Kids and adults will find it interesting. The USS Constellation is a Civil War Era ship that has been beautifully restored. There are multiple informational signs to help teach you about various aspects of sailor life. There are also some real antique items on display, including cannons and medical instruments. This is a must see if you're in the area. You will need a ticket to board, which can be purchased on site or online.
Nice place to go with family 😍 …
USS constellation name not visible easily when you are driving on the road. It’s very near to Baltimore Aquarium. Park nearby public parking, especially road side is just $1.25 per hour as compared to $6 for first 20 minutes inside.
There are four ships to visit, it’s self guided tour so it can take up to 2 to 4 hours. But, good place to visit. I like submarine most 😀
Great attraction to visit if you are at thre inner harbor . Don't miss the cannon demonstration scattering the passers by.
Well preserved vessel with cool history behind it. Ask the staff about firing the guns!
I visited the USS Constellation and it was really neat. You could walk around almost the whole ship and read signs about it. Also it was like 90 degrees outside but once you go below deck it's much cooler, so it's also a cool place to visit in the summer.
A beautiful area in the inner harbor, Baltimore. The ship is being restored and a wonderful piece of history. Visit all 4 decks. They have hand held electronic tour guides where you point it at a symbol in the ship and it tells you about that section of the ship. They also have a person in period costume available for questions and guidance. Not wheelchair accessible. Buy the ticket to visit all the ships docked there... It is well worth the admission price. Please like this review if you found it helpful.
Well maintained vessel. Great 0lace. Nice view
Great time! Lots to learn and it's so nice to be able to touch history.
We highly enjoyed our time exploring the ship!
Every time I go I learn something new. The staff is really into it and their enthusiasm for history is contagious.
There are four historical ships in one harbor this one is the oldest and wonderful ship to see. Great day in Baltimore.
The lady at the front desk in the main building was very nice.
Great experience! Exhibit showcases Baltimore's nautical history
Fun tour. Interesting to both kids and adults.
Tour the Maritime Museum as you walk the Baltimore Inner Harbor. Each ship is a veteran, each has served its country in its own way. Each ship and the lighthouse offers opportunities to explore and learn about them. The US Sloop-of-War Constellation, the US Submarine Torsk, the US Coast Guard Cutter Taney, and the Lightship Chesapeake exhibit life at sea from the mid-19th century to the mid-1980's. Don’t miss it!!! You will not regret it all!
Very well kept with restoration on the way. Great piece of history.
Loved it, really well maintained ship with lots of history displayed!
We had a lot of fun and learned so much!
Very reasonable price to tour 4 ships and a lighthouse in Baltimore. Our kids (5 & 7) had a good time. Lots of great, historical facts inside all the ships, One of the ships had a fun search for paw prints of a dog that had been on the ship. On another, we were in time for a sample show of firing a cannon. Lots of fun with group participation. That was my kid's favorite part.
A lot to see if you love historic ships!
Great looking ships. Only two were open when we went, the oldest one and the submarine. Both were amazing. They both included plaques that highlight various aspects and explain different sections. The submarine might be a bit too tight for claustrophobic people, but it was a great adventure for us and our kids. One thing I would have liked be improved is when they clean the ship’s deck. We arrived at around 11 and they were just starting to clean the deck, which was quite dirty. As they cleaned it, dirty water was making its was all over the deck. They should have done this before they opened.
Otherwise, a great experience and will be back next time to see the other ships.
When in Inner Harbor, one must see the USS Constellation. You may board the ship, and wander the multiple deck levels, and get an idea as to how difficult ocean life must have been.
Amazing to share in the history of our nation and Baltimore. What a wonderful experience.
This was an awesome experience. One of the best ships amongst the 4 ships at the historic ships of Baltimore. It has four levels. At 12:00 and 4:00 pm they fire a canyon and it is worth watching. It’s a beautiful location too on the waterfront.also if you get the passes to the ships they are valid for a full year and you can see the lighthouse too for free, the light house too is an awesome experience.
Nice activity weather permitting. I was really impressed by the USS Constellation.
Really cool ships with knowledgeable guides. Definitely worth the money and time to check out.
Old beautiful Civil War era warship in the Harbor close to the other ships and restaurants.
When in Baltimore Inner Harbor, this should be one of your destination spots to visit. This sailing ship is the "2nd" USS Constellation commissioned in 1855, after the famous 1st USS Constellation was broken up. Even so, the 2nd USS Constellation still had a historic career and is an excellent historic representation of the "age of sail." Of interest is her 1850's career capturing illicit slave ships, freeing and releasing the captive Africans to the country of Liberia. The US government paid $25 per freed slave (to be returned to Africa) and the captured slave ships auction proceeds were divided among the USS Constellation's crew. Make sure to have a tour guide with you as they are very knowledgeable of the ship!
Staff is very knowledgeable. They seemed like they genuinely enjoy telling visitors all about the history. The area is pretty small, but definitely worth the low entry fare. If you have some free time and are in the harbor area, I definitely recommend visiting.
Super informative and very interesting. The staff were all welcoming, friendly, and willing to answer questions. A great way to spend an afternoon in Baltimore. There's a bit too much info provided, so I recommend being selective in what you read. Definitely worth it to go to all four ships!!
Great self guided tour. The USS Constitution may look plain from the outside but inside it's the most informative & well preserved US naval sailing ship we've seen. The USS Constitution is older & great to visit but the USS Constitution provided us with a much better tour experience. The upper deck is filled with working, touchable parts from spare spars to the ships double wheel to simple belaying pins. Below decks, the huge, old guns are still there along with a full deck of hammocks, office cabins, the galley & mess area exhibits. Very informative. Even the hold and bulge full of ballast were open. Amazingly, many spare parts are visible & most are huge pieces of Oak - well worth the visit!!
The ship was AMAZING to look at but we did not pay to enter the museum. You can see the harbor here and I'd highly recommend coming in the evening to see it when it's dark and lit up as well. There are plenty of great restaurants nearby to enjoy as well as fun tourist shops.
Decent amount of the original ship is still present today.
Totally worth doing
We toured the USS Constitution and the submarine. Next time we'll do the Constitution again and maybe the lighthouse. Had a 12 year old boy and a 6 year old girl, and both enjoyed it. Admission price is very reasonable.
Love it
The Harbor and the historic ships are neat to visit and learn about. They also offer some great photo opportunities. This was one of my favorite places in Baltimore as you get a reprieve from the city landscape of tall buildings and traffic for a nice water view.
Nice place for a Summer walk with family and friends
Fair prices, and great to be able to see such a variety of ships.
Take your time and read as much as you can there. So many things are fascinating. The staffs are nice and you should look at time schedule to see what's time they have special activities to show you. We got to see they demonstrate their small cannon!
Historic Ships in Baltimore was a great experience and completely worth the money. You can easily spend half a day exploring these ships, and they're located near many other things to see and do.
She is recently relaunched and after having her whole refurbished for the next few decades. She's in Stellar condition, no pun intended, and she is accessible to the public and handicap. You can board her in the picture we will pay for the fleet pass and see the other ships in the harbor. She's the last United States Navy vessel to serve it was designed specifically with sale power only. 25 guns including a bronze Howitzer which is awesome to see.
Well priced and very interesting if you want to look at ships. Many of the vessels were difficult to move through. The submarine doors are very small and the Constellation has very low headroom through out most of the ship, but it was very interesting, especially the "surgeon" on the Constellation.
It's a ship it's historic what more do you want from it ?
What a blast! I strongly recommend seeing all four ships because each has something unique to offer. However, if you only have time for two, the USS Torsk and the USS Constellation are the best two.
A great piece of history. The ship is well cared for. You can see a lot of the ship.
Impressive! the ship is meticulously cared for, the original things and cannons are still there and one of them fires real gun powder every noon. Amazing experience of history right there in front of you! Highly recommend it to visit and explore!
First time seeing the boats, inside and out. These boats Brilliantly kept and documented about. Strollers ok to park on any boat if you have to bring it on. Staff is excellent.
Incredible renovation of a beautiful tall ship. Very friendly and knowledgable staff. Will go again in the future!
GREAT day out at the INNER HARBOR just enjoying Baltimore as it is meant to be enjoyed. PEACEFULLY!!!
What a great ship. The people available to answer questions were very knowledgeable. I highly recommend it especially if you are interested in history.
Very cool and historic
It was nice.. but alot of walking
Neat place to take the kids
Great place to go for history and tour old ships
Nice place to visit. The area is pleasant around the ship. Lots of food choices and other entertainment venues.
Absolutely amazing.
People were much smaller back in the day... But despite being 6'3", I still had a great time. It is definitely worth a visit. It is fascinating and the staff is super knowledgeable and engaging. I wish I could remember the name of the one who was down on the bottom level giving us all that knowledge during a CESSE conference "afterglow". He was asking us what we thought something did or was for and then gave us the answer. It was very pleasant. They also shot off a cannon. Obviously a blank, but it was fun!
I really enjoyed the audio tour. It allowed me to move at the pace I wanted and wander to less crowded areas. The ship is amazingly restored. The staff is young and enthusiastic. I only bought tickets for two ships and wish I would have seen all four ships. Spend the extra money to see all the ships. They offer a veteran discount as well.
Where else are you going to tour a ship of the line from 1797?
Very nice ship, staff aboard give good tours and great info on period knowledge
Fascinating look back through history. Wonderful tour and informative, positive staff.
Beautiful ship. Great for a history lesson. Friendly service. Left in awe.
Nice historic ships to see
I have to say I was excited at first to go on a tour on two ships I went on the first ship and it was very experiential I did love walking through the ship but as a black woman I have to say that I always felt an eerie feeling of slaves being harvested on that ship however they said that fought other slave ships in which it did have cannons and that was proof however I still felt some kind of way about it I don't know call me untrusting I forgot the name of the ships that I went to but if you go on this ship you will know that soon as you walk in it has a plaque that said that it helped in the fight to end slavery but I don't believe it however we went on to the submarine and the submarine was a little claustrophobic for me so if you have claustrophobic issues and which you literally have to walk in a line and you have to bend down to view things there are many many things that are so very interesting and very eye-catching but it definitely gives you the experience of what the people inside the submarine was feeling when they had to live there and serve their country so for that I do commend The Experience however I must say I felt a bit uncomfortable it wasn't bad but it could have been better with a tour guide to explain the things that you seen and all of the things that you saw most of the tour guys were sitting about and they really didn't explain anything but as you went in and they said oh if you have any questions just ask but you had to wait until after you was done with yourself to her to ask questions if you could remember those questions by the time you reached the top of the deck so my thing is is that if you don't have previous knowledge of these ships or submarine my caution to you is to do your research beforehand and then you can make your touring experience a bit better.
I saw all three ships a the sub and the lighthouse what an amazing afternoon and all for just 18$ a trip through American history. I learned so much today in a short period of time great for kids and very educational
This is worth seeing. It is interesting to see how the crew and the officers lived. There are 4 levels which steam to get tighter as you go down. Lots of cannons. It is fun to watch the harbor through the portal and think about what it must have been like for the crew.
The people are very friendly and will answer all your questions with out hesitation.
We didn't go aboard the ship, but it was great to see up close.
We spent the 4th of July at the deck party on the Constellation. It was amazing. The best 4th for us. We moved from Arizona and we had our eyes opened to how awesome Baltimore can be.
Very cool ship.
Beautiful piece of our history! Staff is friendly and helpful. Guides are knowledgeable. I highly recommend!
A visit to the inner harbor could include this ship. The attendants aboard are knowledgeable and very passionate about their task of helping visitors to enjoy their exploration of this well restored relic. Information is posted about the ship but you can ask all the questions you are wondering. Great photos.
A nicely preserved historical ship, well worth the visit of you're touring the inner harbor. Self guided, not crowded.
Very interesting historic ship with 4 full decks open to the public when I was there in May 2018. Still work in progress to complete the restoration
This was an enjoyable diversion and learning experience. You can easily spend an hour or more exploring the four stories of this beautiful ship and learning about her history. Great time and good for the family. There are 3 other ships nearby which you can also visit for just a few dollars more. Well worthwhile.
Very well kept for how old this ship is. The preservation is great and they do a lot to keep people interested
They have done an excellent job restoring the ship and one gets a good feeling of what it was like to sail. The reenactors share lots of interesting historic information.
What a great historical ship! My favorite is the captain's quarters. Great place for families.
Well worth the visit. Last wooden ship built and still owned by the US Navy.
I really enjoyed our school trip here. The ships were very interesting to tour. My favorite were the USS Constelation and the submarine.
Great place to teach kids about some of our naval history. Ties in well with visits to the other ships and submarine in the harbor.
They allow you all over the ship. This was an awesome experience for someone that loves maritime history. While more modern ships don't allow you all access, the connstellation allows you everywhere. Construction was happening however. Summer 2018
Amazing ❤️
Oldest of the vessels in the harbor, but nonetheless you might enjoy the aesthetic. They haven't finished the restoration when I took a look around but the rest was still worth the look. And take advantage of the info they have placed around and attending the demos and shows they put on are fun if not interesting.
Excellent experience going around these ships! They were perserved very well!
This is a beaut piece of history at reasonable prices; well worth the time and effort.
Great for all ages
One of my most memorable travel visits! I love history and ships.
What a cool ship. We'll maintained with friendly informative guides.
Beautiful place
Celebrated new year's here once. Nice old boat with very interesting history.
Neat ships to explore and visit. Displays inside interesting and informative. Be prepared to climb up and down ladders. Not good for those with bad knees.
Great insight into life on a military sailing warship. Last time I was here, we got to help take down the flag. This time, we got a cannon demonstration! And the ticket gets you into three other historical ships at the Harbor.
A very good place to hangout with family. Lot of attractions. Can be devoted half day. We visited this place in May 2013 as a part of conduct tour. Nice place.
Beautiful ship. I spent the night on it once in my Cub Scout troop. Great experience.
The ship looks really great. The inner harbor area is very nice as well. Plenty of places to eat, and shop nearby. Nice open area for walking, jogging, or biking near waterfront. Several areas with benches that have great views of the water as well.
Excellent museum.
Cool old boat that the kids enjoyed. Participated in the gun ceremony which was really interesting.
Very cool museum with amazing history. Worth the price.
Fun to see and do the audio tour. When you buy tickets, splurge the extra $3 to see all of the ships.
Never toured the ship itself, but it's presence alone is spectacular. Stick around for when they fire the rear cannon!
Amazing city, so much history. USS Constellation is awesome to tour.
I had a ton of fun, if you have half a day to kill buy the 4 boats ticket it's an awesome experience and really worth it
This was awesome ! Very steep stairs and short levels under the deck so be careful moving around.
Beautiful ship from the Civil War era. Amazing restoration work.
Not a bad place to visit. They fire a Cannon which if you never seen a naval gun fired would be a cool thing to see. Restoration is under way, the years have not been kind. So if you can donate a buck or too to help out one of historys gems that would be nice.
Very interesting! Loved witnessing the firing of a real cannon from that time period. Self guided tour was great- informative.
Excellent overnight stay on board the ship!
Fantastic job well done by the crew as well!
Interesting ship, imaginative tour guide. We shot the replica cannon!
Very good exhibit. Learned several new things.
Beautiful piece of history
Such a cool experience to walk around and touch these important pieces of our Naval History.
It was cool to board old and new ships as well as retired submarine. The kids love the self tour and if you're there in the afternoon time, definitely head up to the Constellation ship for firing of the midday cannon.
If you're in the Baltimore area, this is definitely something you should check out, The ship is beautiful and certainly worth reading about.
Take a moment when you're downtown and visit this beautiful historic monument. Just watch your head if you're tall!
Excellent ship to visit. The whole ship is open for exploration! Once a month, "the ships company" visits, and displayed cannon firing, cutlass demonstration, small arms, and general shipboard life.
Beautiful ship, staff if very friendly and informative.
Spent my new year eves on this ship. It was great fun watching the fireworks!
First time in Baltimore .l Loved it
Beautiful ship. Tour was expensive so I passed on that.
Great level of preservation for the ships. A guided tour would be good but adequate documentation for self guided tours
Fascinating history! A great place to take your kids
Neat old ship, with a wonderful tour staff.
It's aver impressive ship and so we'll maintained.
This is one of the best historical ship tours available. Nearly all of the ship is accessible to visitors. The free audio tour is excellent, as are the many interpretive signs. Don't miss this if you're visiting Baltimore!
Great ship preservation & history. Breathtaking to see the scale of a ship that is 150 yrs old!
The cannon was fun to see & hear go boom, highly recommended to experience.
Really fun and informative tours. Price was fair and we had a great time exploring Maritime history
Very intriguing ship. Access to multiple decks via steps.
One of the most famous and iconic places and ships in Baltimore. Everyone needs to check out this historic ship and take the tour. Try and go for the live fire drill and hear the canon go off, which is awesome. It's never too crowded here but in the summer lots of people will be around. Highly recommend stopping by and at least taking a pic/selfie
Like stepping back in time to see an amazing ship and great tribute!
Magnificent conversion of a national treasure into a floating educational museum. The stories of the actual officers of the ship brought this experience to life. Please visit, join, and support this irreplaceable national treasure.
I believe that every thing in our art is amusing unbelievable beautiful picture, peaceful and people get this from God.
Did the scouting overnight on the ship and it was an incredible experience. Got to try our hand at setting the yards and using the capstan. The guides/hosts were very knowledgeable and able to answer questions and talk about things beyond just the tour contents. The hammocks weren't quite as uncomfortable as I expected but they still take some getting used to.
Fun and interesting. Ask about the head and ring the ships bell!
What a beautiful ship, loving cared for these days
Amazing! Submarine is great!
For $20 you can go on board 3 ships docked in the harbour. This was almost completely redone and was worth $20 alone just to see this ship.
History.
Go, look, ask questions, learn, enjoy.
We love n the land of the free because
OF THR BRAVE.
Well restored and interesting. A little tricky to climb ladders and stairs for older people.
Great attraction at Inner Harbor. You get to go on a real vintage boat and see how sailers lived. You can tour the barracks and see the cannons. Great stop for the kids.
Very interesting and good collection of ships to visit. Great deals and prices for tickets.
very interesting. good place to learn abt history
Great variety of well preserved historic ships. USS Constellation and a WWII submarine are the highlights.
Great historical site in the Inner Harbor
Must visit place
Very informative and a great view into the past
Definitely worth a visit.
Must see this ship if you are ever in the Inner Harbour.
Great museum highlighing our maritime heritage. Do yourself a favor and get the pass giving you access to all the museum ships in the harbor! There's a Coast Guard lightship and a submarine as well!
Amazing piece of history!!
The catering was awesome!! The view and the tour of the boat is cool also!
Alway nice to see this boat sitting there
My scout troop stayed here for a over night. It was very fun and enlightening, the younger scouts were able to learn about the ship and the role it played in the civil war and ww1 and 2. The instructors were enjoyable and knowledgable about what they were talking about and enjoyed working there.
Outstanding walk through history. Come aboard.
Loved visiting a piece of U.S. naval history. According to the guide this is the last US Navy ship of its kind.
We saw the ships company reenact some of the fighting skills of the time period. We also watched the cannon fire.
Nice tourist attraction, fun for the whole family.
Very interesting tour, the guide was excellent and had a lot of interesting facts I never knew.
A beautifully maintained vessel, a truly stunning sight to see.
Cool museum! Even on a blistering hot day in Baltimore, the lower decks were air conditioned unlike the other boats.
Nicely maintained vessel with its preserved history!
This is a must see when in Baltimore. We started our tour of the 4 ships here. I thought it was the best of all 4 because of it's history and timeline. During its high time, it was charged with intercepting vessels engaged in slave trade off the coast of west Africa. History of the ship records that while in West African waters, the Constellation captured 3 slave ships, 1 of which had on board 705 African slaves destined for the Americas.
We started the tour with a short time at the museum right at the entrance. It is a one way in and another out so no coming back to where you entered. Take time to look at the museum, it is informative and has some artifacts from way back when.
The ship has four different levels each with interesting functions. I took quite a few shots at different levels, see if you can identify anything you see. Highly recommended.
We went because dad has always wanted to see the tall ships but we've never gone. After waiting in that long line in the heat for what seemed like forever, after we finally got on board & it was almost time for us to do the tour, our first of the day, dad got over heated, they called the ships medic & we sat for almost an hour & then went home. What little bit we did see of the back deck it was pretty interesting.
Really interesting museum. Learned a bunch about civil war era naval operations.
Very well preserved piece of U.S. Naval history.
Fascinating tour. Was very pleased.
Theres a 4 ship pass you can get and its really fun. The passes are good for a year, so you can take your time. This one had people in Civil War costumes, the space inside is a unique experience- you feel like you're on a pirate ship!
As a current Canadian Navy sailor, I highly appreciated the history of the vessel. It was very cool to connect old naval traditions with current ones in our Navy.
Taking a tour of the USS Constellation was a fun experience. Do this while exploring dragon boats and other things in Inner Harbor.
The Constellation is one of the historic ships located in the Inner Harbor. The first Constellation was a frigate that was built in 1797 and dismantled in 1853. This version was built in 1854 and is the last US Navy sailing sloop of war. She served in the Mediterranean and Africa, among other places. The ship has been lovingly. The superb audio guide has both adult and kid versions. The signage and exhibits throughout the ship are very well done and effectively evoke what life was like on the ship. It took me about 90 minutes to see everything and listen to the entire audio guide, while moving fast. This is a must do if you are interested in the age of sail.
Didn't take a tour inside but it was awesome to see on the outside. Very humbling to see how large ships are up close
Very cool old sailing ship.
What a fun experience! We and our three young daughters loved exploring this ship, an 1860s vessel with a childrens' audio tour that's easy enough for a 4 year old to manage on her own. I found it a ton of fun to stand at the helm of such a beautifully restored ship right in the middle of the Inner Harbor, and I learned a great deal about the history and lives of those who served aboard. It's a true joy to visit!
Its a cool place to visit with ur family...
Having been aboard here, it's hard to imagine the months and weeks these men had to endure to travel in search of or in battle. Very cramped quarters but uniquely designed for exactly what this ship did in our early founding of America.
It gives you a first hand look and idea of how really brutal life was for these warriors of early America.
No comforts to speak of either, at all. The ship had one purpose and that's exactly what it was designed for and it shows.
Even the captain's quarters while more forgiving was nothing to brag about.
Something you definitely want to see first hand and for kids as well to see what and under what conditions our country was created under.
This site is a brilliant point of historical tourism. They fire a cannon daily and also give interactive demonstrations on the loading of a heavy cannon.
I went with a group of my friends and this was well worth the time!
What a great step into the past. Amazing to learn all of the things going on board ship and where all of the daily activities occurred.
Word of caution. Watch your head. Anyone taller than 5'7" would be advised to wear a helmet. I kept one hand on top of my head once we were below deck. I did not want to smack my head on the low ceilings.
Must see stop when visiting the waterfront
Amazing to see and learn what it took to run these ships.
Lots of interesting info to read on the USS Constellation and cool interactive demo of how they fired the cannons!
One of the few remaining ships of its kind in the US.
Great tours of this piece of history.
Beautiful ship and tours.
Live gun firing. Authentic ship. Felt like a 19th century sailor aboard
The Constellation was the first ship I've ever toured. It features great exhibits on the voyages undertaken over its long history.
Lots of great historical info. Good for day trips with the family.
Take the tour. The staff was great.
Pretty neat to see. The cannon firing was pretty neat.
Great barman!
Wonderful way to spend an afternoon. Wear comfortable shoes!
I definitely would recommend this as a Baltimore must see. It is amazing to walk around the ship and imagine that you are back in time and Abraham Lincoln was president and the civil war was being fought! Its incredible that this national treasure still exsists and we are still able to connect with a such a significant part of our American history first hand.
It is s bit pricey for a family of 5 if you are planning on touring other sites as well but still worth the $.
The firing of the actual cannon was an added bonus!
Stunning ship and so much to explore on her.
Lots of fun, so much history to learn about
The U.S.S. Constellation is well worth a visit. We had a great day on the Sloop - of - War. Lots of nooks and crannies to explore on board. Down at the Keel you get that erie feeling in the pit of your stomach. A ton of History in front of you while you walk along her decks. Check her out if you're ever in Downtown Baltimore Harbour. ☺👍👍👍
Great place for kids and family outing!
If you are visiting the Baltimore Harbour, this is a place it can't be missed.
I think a guide would have been better than the digital guide supplied.
Good history. Got go see if you are there
Really good tour. Price was reasonable.
It's a great place to go and see interesting art and Gallery in Baltimore.
I have not been on the Constellation but it is a beautiful site in the harbor. It is in need of some painting.
Great Civil War era ship. Don't miss the life firing of the Canon!
The USS Constellation is worth a look just for its history. Sadly considering its history it is not nearly as well maintained as it should or could be.
Nice place to enjoy and e biking was awesome at this place
Wonderful ship tour on these floating jewels of American history.
Very interesting for adults and kids. My grandson is only 5 years old and he loved it.
One of the jewels of Baltimore. If you're visiting town, put this on your list of things to do at the Inner Harbor.
Staffs were knowledgeable about the history but some area was not well-maintained.
Set side some time to check out these amazing exhibits
Made in the USA hat
Must see Baltimore experience of you're into history and ships
Wonderful experience - took the best pictures here!!
Very interesting historical displays and demonstrations by on-board sailors of period weapons and chores.
Be sure to get there on time because you don't wanna leave
Love seeing history closeuup.
Fun tour , staff is extremely knowledgeable
The ship is so well cared for that it's hard to believe she's over a century and a half old. Beautiful bare wood and white washed ship walls restored to their original appearance are lit with modern lighting but short of that it's all original material save for some historically accurate set dressing (hammocks, a captain's table, the officers' cabins, etc.). EVERY DECK is available for tour even the ballast at the bottom! They also do live cannon fire demonstrations, but be sure to ask when they are so you don't miss them. Very friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable tour guides answered every question we could come up with.
They need coins. Great history
Great way to learn a little history in Baltimore.
I like visiting all the vessels here, usually purchase a pass that would get me to all of them. I wish they open a little longer since I usually don’t have much time during business hours. Coast Guard lighthouse ship houses quite extensive exhibits on war in Okinawa.
Loved it! Reasonably priced in my opinion.
Absolutely wonderful experience
Interesting, my niece and nephew were bored. They were 14 and 12 when we were there.
Very cool!
Absolutely amazing place
LITERALLY a walk into history. Can't miss.
Pretty cool !!
Neat to see history preserved!
It was a very impressive sight to see
Neat to explore...the sub is better
Great site, love the cannon firing 🇺🇸 …
Great experience for all ages.
The Constellation is definite must-see if you're visiting the Inner Harbor in Baltimore. She is the second ship to bear the name, the first being the sister ship to the Constitution in Boston. As such she was armed with turreted guns which makes for a very interesting visit.
Beauty place
A must see in the balitmore harbor.
An educational and fun experience
Great old ships if you are into exploring old ships and submarine.
Very cool!!
This was part of a Boy Scout overnight trip for my son and I. The experience was pretty cool, as we got to sleep on the boat overnight. The program offered dinner and then breakfast in the morning. The dinner was decent and attempted to copy what sailors would have eaten when this ship was still commissioned as part of the Navy. The breakfast was a joke, but you don’t visit this historic vessel for the food anyway. The location in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor makes this a must see for anyone visiting Baltimore.
Sub and old time fighting ship were worth it.
Amazing when it's not crowded.
My favorite of the 4 vessels in the harbor
Just so cool, wonderfully maintained
Sight worth seeing in downtown Baltimore
This was really fun and cool to see. A little pricey but not terrible.
Nice historical ship
Historic and amazing sites...
If you love navigational history your love these four ships...
Beautiful old ship
If your into history n ships
I did not tour. Just looked at it.
Awesome piece of history.
Good to know our history
Similar to the USS Constitution in Boston, but better. The ship is not as meticulously restored as the Constitution, but the tour covers much more of the ship. The Constitution your stops at the gun deck in the middle, but the Constellation goes all the way to the orlop deck at the bottom.
Nice place to visit!
Historicalsite clean place well keep.
Awesome sight to see.
A very Beautiful vessel!
best place to go for a leisure walk cold or hot day
I recommend it,
