Reviews of Estes-Winn Antique Car Museum
One of the best antique car collections I’ve ever seen. Nestled on Grove Park Inn’s property. Just reopened after Covid! The curators were very friendly and knowledgeable.
A really great collection of automobiles! Loved the stories and information shared with each. And the positive quotes all over the building were such a pleasure to encounter as well. The story behind the building was fascinating as well. The gentleman that was working there was quite informative and offered additional informationas well, which was certainly an unexpected treat also.
Excellent small car museum. You can get close enough to put your head in the windows. Friendly staff
Small & FREE museum with a really cool collection of vehicles. Recommended! There are stairs in the downstairs area, so it's not accessible.
When you're in Asheville, North Carolina, you have to see the antique car museum! Lots of beautiful antique vehicles completely restored!
Love it... and learning about the cars.. man working there was so sweet and helpful
What a great bunch of classic cars. Everything is in beautiful condition. The museum is free to visit, but please consider making a donation.
My husband and I had a great time looking at these beautiful vintage cars. They even had an old fire engine, and a coke soda machine!
Small, but beautiful antique car museum. Great collection of early 1900s (Model T, Model A) up through the 1950s. Their 1957 Cadillac Eldorado is one of the most stunning automobiles I have ever seen! Definitely worth stopping by while visiting the Grove Park Inn and nearby galleries.
This was such a wonderful place to kill a little time. It’s free, nestled next to two other free museums, and the cars are beautifully restored and you can tell they are very very cared for.
Favorite car! The gentleman that worked there did a great job explaining the history and all of this for a donation!!
A great collection of beautiful cars. Admission is free and donations are accepted. Best part is the information placards, I learned a lot about the cars, the industry and how the driving habits of the American public has evolved.
Enjoyed seeing all the old cars. Not alot but the right amount of cars with lots of history. My favorite was the rare 1957 Cadillac Eldorado. Tom Anders was very knowledgeable and a local so filled with lots of great information and a very nice man.
Very nice place. This was a surprise stop for my 9 year old who loves cars especially antiques. I love the location and the history that surrounds it.
The best antique car museum if you are visiting asheville and your trip is short this will make it sweet
Loved the old cars and buggies! The employee was nice and friendly. The admission is free, donations appreciated.
Cute little place to take an up close look at some gorgeous antique cars. Very friendly attendant.
Loved it. Plenty of vehicles from 1953 on back to the Ford model T. My personal 2 favorites were the Packard coupes. Don't overlook the back half.
Loved the details and writings for each car. The bathtub was an added bonus!
Love seeing the old cars including the MG almost like the TD my father had.
Fascinating collection.
Voluntary donations are accepted. No entry fee.
We had a great time here. I can't remember the guys name that was there running the place but he was awesome! He took the time to explain the history of the place and honestly it was just as much fun learning about the history as looking at all the cool old cars! Don't miss this place
Great collection of cars with a cool story behind it. Definitely worth poking around in.
Well worth visiting. all original antique cars that you don't see at car shows
Absolutely fantastic part of Asheville's and Biltmore's storied history. The buildings and grounds alone are worth the visit!
Great experience to learn history. A must do even if you are not fan of cars (like me!). You won't regret!
Amazing autos maintained and kept! Collection is amazing! Inspirational! Loved the backstories, the documentation on the vehicles and the property throughout! A blast! 11/10! Would regularly visit! Donations are needed , but not expected. I purchased some stickers for $3.00 each to help out😍.Visit the corresponding buildings to see all the wonderful advancements and to get the full story!!
As an old gearhead I loved the place and collection. Highly recommend. Also, please donate to keep this museum healthy.
Totally worth it! Amazing cars and other I formation. Staff was excellent!
Great little museum near the Grove Park Inn! Has very cool collection of antique cars and little fact sheets on each one. You also get to learn about the family who owns the cars (never knew the connection to Harry's on the Hill!). Loved walking among the cars and learning about them and local history. Worth the visit! It is free! They are closed during the winter (it is posted on their website and brochures, don't give them one star because you didn't do your research).
Loved the museum, all the old cars were fabulous. My only complaint is that it is NOT handicapped accessible. When we arrived, there was no ramp. We wandered around thinking there might be another entrance. Finally, some man came over and asked if we were there to see the museum. We said yeas and he said he had to set up the ramp. Sorry, but if you have to set up a ramp, then it is not accessible. Please look into a permanent ramp. In the meantime, you should probably mark this site as not handicapped accessible.
Amazing antique cars and knowledgeable curator.
Extraordinary...vehicle collection is varied...vehicles look as if they just came off a production line.
Randomly came across this spot and really enjoyed checking out the cars and hearing a little history from the very friendly staff.
Neat place if you like classic Cars
They have some really interesting cars here.
Nice private car collection. Had a rare Eldorado with a stainless steel roof. And its all free
Beautiful car collection and a great place to stay with beautiful mountain views.
This place is absolutely incredible. I have a serious love for all cars. I took pictures with every car, especially the Model A and Model T and the old fire truck. Man, I wish they would let you go sit inside the fire truck! That would have made it even more incredible. There's no admission fee, but of course donations are appreciated. It's a great place to visit, especially if you don't want to spend a whole lot of money.
This place is an interesting and lucky find for us, and now I can say I’m glad we came to visit. Great collection of antique cars and an antique fire truck. Parking is free and no admission fee. The place is easy to find and not far away from Asheville downtown. The history of the cars and the site itself are very interesting. Be sure to check out other places in the village too!
So fun! Great for kids and adults as well. They gave each of the kids a postcard with a pic of the awesome, restored fire engine they have at the museum. Free entry fee (donation jar inside). Staff was knowledgeable and friendly
Definitely worth the visit, learned a lot. Also the man working was very knowledgeable as well.
Stop in to check out the antique cars
Lovely museum with an excellent collection of unique classic cars. I took my disabled father for a visit and he really enjoyed the experience. The museum attendant extremely helpful. Yes assisted with getting our wheelchair in and out of the museum. I couldn't have been more grateful. I highly recommend this place.
Don't miss out on seeing this! The guide is an awesome gentleman who is full of historic information. Not only about the cars, and their owner, but also about the textile manufacturing next door. Free tours. Enjoy the knowledge of this man. He's amazing!
Great collection of antique cars (~1900s - 1950s / and even a few horse drawn buggies from before that)! Kids loved it. A little off the beaten track, but in a beautiful setting and next to the Grove Park Inn, Biltmore Industries Homespun Museum, and Grovewood Gallery which are all worth a visit as well.
Great place to take the kids! FREE admission, but they do take donations! Small parking lot adjacent to building, and parking is also FREE. Beautiful vintage cars, very educational and fun! Pictures and flash photography are allowed. Will be visiting here again soon
What a wonderful thing to have here in Asheville. And FREE. The bad reviews you may see here are all about the hours of operation and other dumb things that have nothing to do with this place and the experience. Thanks to the family and everyone who makes this a unique place to visit for anyone who loves cars :)
Lived here nearly 20 years and never been until now. They are typically closed from January to March but they let me and my brother in to see. Such nice people. It is free to go in but I urge you to donate. Amazing antique cars such as cadillacs, model Ts, model As, even carriages. Also the building itself is a jewel. The chandeliers are from the Seely castle on Town Mountain.
We visited here with my family this weekend while visiting Asheville for the Biltmore Estate. The museum was full of nice old model cars that we enjoyed looking at. Each car had a desrciption with year, make, and model with a description of the car itself. It was free to park and visit. We were there for about 30-45 minutes just looking. They had about 20 cars maybe.
This is a nice little museum to visit while you're in the area. We went there with our young children and they really enjoyed it! If I remember correctly there are about 30 vehicles here. Admission is free but they do ask that visitors consider making a donation.
If you want to see a great collection of vintage cars and feel like you are back in history this is the place, The drive getting to rh Museum and fantastic plus all the shoppes in the same area, It is a great place to wonder and look back at history and see how far we have come in a 100 years. I would allow an hour to see the place and then some time roaming the shoppes. It is all on one level, they do have a few benches to sit on.
I loved seeing the old cars and imagining the people who drove and rode in them. They encompass images of simpler, slower times. There is much more style & craftsmanship in these cars than in today's models.
Very cool place to visit. Gorgeous little drive up a mountain to reach a senic little spot. The museum is cute and relaxed, and gives lots of information about the cars. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.
I didn't think I would like this, because I'm not big into autos. This place had some really great classics. Absolutely awesome!
Closest I have ever been to these fantastic well maintained automobiles.
Visited the auto museum during our stay at Grove Park Inn, 04/19/19. Was greeted by Tom Anders who was a wonderful host and gave us a history lesson on the Inn and Grovewood Village. He couldn't have been nicer or more informative. 5 Stars to Tom and Thank You... Fred
This a a small car museum tucked behind the Grove Park Inn. It is from a private collection and has a large number of vehicles on display. The collection is housed in an old textile mill.which can also be part of your tour if one chooses. The textiles produced here at the time were world famous.
This museum has a great selection of cars from the golden age of automotives, as well as several buggies and an antique fire truck. It is a must see if you are in the Asheville area.
We really enjoyed !
Nice selection of classic cars and you can really see them up close. Allow about an hour.
It was neat to see the classic cars but there was no a/c in the building and it was sweltering. Also, many of the cars needed repairs. Might be nicer to see them at their peak. But people working there were very nice and informative
Wow. This was a great place to visit and see some classic antique cars. Trip who showed us around was friendly and informative and a pleasure to meet. A must to see if you love antique classic cars
Classic cars and museum. Great afternoon excursion
They have a great collection of beautiful cars and a wealth of knowledge regarding the history of each car and the person who created the collection. We really enjoyed the experience
Closed for winter... Your buisness is inside a building though? Ya lazy hippie.
🤔 Hmm, upon reading your sincerely worded reply, I will add a star. Also, I concede that my "lazy hippie" crack maybe a bit harsh.
While I can appreciate the sharing of this private cache of history is generous & heating an old building isn't cheap. I am not niave enough to buy the labor of love act. Every successful politician has at least one non-profit. Very often this endeavor is a highly lucrative arrangement for said philanthropist, much moreso than is ever publicly acknowledged. Not shaming, just not failing for the story Bubba. I'm sure you have an interesting exhibit, maybe I'll stop in another day.
A small collection, approximately 20 along with some vintage buggy's and a fire truck. Nice mix of old cars with local history. No charge, donations accepted.
My tour of the Antique Car Museum at Grooewood by Tom Ander was FANTASTIC, A1. as Car Talk Host of Every Car Has a Story with JoepeP and DUSTY this was a great way to end my vacation... Tom a true car guy. A great place for the entire family. A history lesson on 4 wheels. Happy Motoring JoepeP!
The Museum was a pleasant surprise and the museum manager shared interesting historical information about the cars and history of the hotel. It was a worthwhile visit.
This is a museum that accepts donations instead of a set price per person. The automobiles are a blast from the past along with other items from the past. Worth the visit to see.
Wasn't bad, just not many cars to see
Some history was shared with us as we entered but rest was on our own. I wouldn't recommend driving a ways out of the way to go just for this...nice to add it to the already planned stuff in the area
Great little museum.
Not many cars but very nice for being run on donations only.
I would suggest it for someone visiting the area.
Lots of old antique cars are finely preserved and stored here. If you are into old early produced automobiles you will find this place to be very interesting and entertaining.
Really enjoyed exploring! Fascinating history of the vehicles on display. I particularly enjoyed the stories posted about the cars as related to the celebrities of the time.
Beautiful collection of antique automobiles, kept in pristine shape. Informative displays. Had a great time
Never knew this place existed to couple weeks ago. Really neat to see all the old cars in this place. I'd recommend going to see it.
Enjoyed the History and old cars in this museum. Worthwhile seeing and there are wonderful shops and artist studios and the omni village inn that you can walk to in the same area.
Really nice place to view cars and the old industry's in Asheville
It is fairly small, but very nice. We made it part of a tour of the area. There are some nice shops and the hotel is awesome. Highly recommend the area.
Beautiful cars. The guy out front was very friendly and informative. Definitely a place worth going.
Wander through numerous vintage vehicles and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere. Beautiful art and relaxing wooded areas filled with local World class artwork.
Beautiful cars with interesting historic facts about each!
Such a neat place! A little confusing to get to (you'll think your going to nowhere) but trust the Google route, you'll be glad you did!
They have some truly unique cars here. It was worth the visit. I even learned a few things.
Ran off of donations. The man there was super friendly and knowledgeable. We learned alot. The cars are beautiful time peaces.
Really worthwhile. First time I've seen an original Model T. And I had no idea how big these cars actually were.
Nice collection free to go in just accepts donations
Free museum but donations are welcome. Not an enormous museum, but pretty nice setting an some pretty cool cars.
Beautiful place. So worth the trip. The ground are amazing too
Great place and free!!
Its small in footprint but huge in history.
Lots of old cars, it gives you a good picture of what driving back in the 70-80s would have been like.
Loved this museum. Not crowded when we went. Really got time to soak it all in.
Beautiful old cars, quite a few. So awesome you just want more.
Very good museum with excellent descriptions of the many cars.
Cute little museum
Lots of cool old cars. Admission is free (donations accepted) so you can't beat the price.
Small, but free (donation box). Cars aren't roped off so one can get a good look.
Small museum but very interesting and they have a good variety of vehicles.
Very cool stop for old car lovers. Free with the option of donating.
Very nice. Beautiful old cars and history of the region.

Great little museum at the Grove Park Inn. It is a short walk from the hotel and has a nice collection of pre 1960s cars including an Edsel and an old firetruck.
Pretty small, but nice display and knowledgeable staff
Old Automobile Exhibition Hall, no tickets, very good
