Reviews of Prince William Sound Museum
A fantastic museum, really wasn't expecting such an experience when entering the unassuming building. For such a small space they really make the best use of it, with historic accounts of the area and personal stories, not to mention the artifacts! I learned so much, and wish I could have stayed longer. I volunteer at my local history museum and know how much time and effort goes into exhibits, and this one is outstanding, whoever curated did an excellent job. Also, loved the 40s jazz playing in the background, really set the tone!
At $5/adult (minors are free), this small museum is totally worth it. It's densely packed with information about the history of Whittier (more interesting than you might expect) and about the area's involvement in WWII with both Russian and Japanese forces.
Plus there are seats in the hall that are dry and can be a place to wait out of the rain.
Restrooms are next door/across the lot in the Anchor Inn.
The museum is in a building with a convenience store that sells most anything you might need.
This is a must see if you visit Whittier Alaska. The history that you can learn from this museum is awesome. If you are fascinated by the past and WW2 you will also love to visit here. They have lots of authentic historical artifacts and information about the role that Alaska played during WW2. They have a cover charge of $5 which is well worth it for the information that you get from going through.
It's an awesome little museum with a couple dozen display cases each featuring either an individual or an event from Alaskas history. Lots of beautiful old photos, journals, letters, and newspaper article! Absolutely worth the $5 :)
A very small museum but has great information on WW II events in Alaska and the north Pacific. A good place for military history buffs.
Small but very interesting. Learned more about the Japanese in Alaska during ww2 in 30 minutes than ever did in school.
Quaint little museum showcasing Whittier and WW2 memorabilia. We learned a lot about Alaska and WW2.
As two military veterans, this museum was very humbling and informative. It really was a unique experience and awesome to see all of the items on display.
Well worth the stop. Just 5 dollars. Cases filled with WW2 and details of lesser known histiry. Much hard work has been invested in each exhibit. Thanks!
Interesting touring your museum.
We learned a lot about the area.
A very informative museum about the history of Whittier as well as other Alaskan history. They must see if you are in Whittier.
If you really take the time to read an absorb all the things that they have in this little museum it's amazing they've done a great job in a small place. did you know in the little history that they have of Spanish explorers that if they had come back again like they wanted to for their 2nd voyage we would probably be speakng Spanish now
Highly recommended. Small, but dense with great stories and artifacts about the region and Alaska. Really caringly put together. Bring cash for the entrance fee.
I love the museum
Fun for it's size
Very informative. Great pics and stories
Nice place to spend an hour if you have time in Whittier. Mainly focused on events during world war 2.
This place is a gem! It's wonderfully organized, and you can feel the love and attention that the curator has put into the museum. I love history, and this museum is wonderfully satisfying.
I've been here twice and really like it.
Fascinating history with such international flair.
It's okay if you got 30mins...some neat history

Great little museum!
Detailed models of aircraft, ships, etc. helpful in explaining a number of events in Whittier and the surrounding area. Packed with information.
A must see in Whittier. Ted Spencer has done an immaculate job as curator of this unique and accredited museum!
