Reviews of AKC Museum of the Dog

Think more art museum then science museum.
2 1/4 floors of paintings and metal sculptures of various of breed of dogs.
The first floor has gift shop and coat check behind the front desk.
As you enter, you can do an activity that takes your picture and then matches a dog breed to you.... if you want to know... i got French Bulldog.
The top floor, includes a pretty large library of books...the books range in levels from children books, to the Idiot Guide Series to text book.
On the top floor there is also an digital activity to train a 6 month old dog.
High points for me is the Sgt. Stubby little statue, located on the top floor.
There is huge glass display case spanning the stair well from the ground floor to the top floor that contains a number of ceramic figures... these are more on the fragile side so I can understand why they are in this case.
You should schedule about 45 to 60 minutes for this location.
There are restrooms on the top floor so make sure you use it before leaving.

Great little museum/gallery, well worth a visit if you love dogs. It contains lots of artwork rather than interactive type stuff so better for adults than kids, tho there are a few things kids will enjoy there like the virtual puppy training. Staff were super friendly and helpful, and for $5 it's really good value too.

I had a great time here. There is a good amount to see and do here. I liked seeing the pictures of the different breeds of dogs and learning some interesting facts about them throughout history. I loved the interactive monitors where you could learn about the different breeds, train a dog and find your dog look alike (that was really fun). On the last floor there is a library full of dogs books and tables for you to color pictures of dogs. The museum is relatively small so you would still have a lot of time to do other things for the day. My only critique is that I wished the museum store lower the price or the magnets. I like souvenirs but $8 for a magnet is too much. Whether you are a dog lover or not you will enjoy your time here.
Alexandra P
Fun time!! I enjoyed seeing all the historical data. I was hoping there'd be more info about breed history as well, but overall it was a good trip! The paintings were nice quality as well. I wish I could have seen more paintings too!
Tim Van Roeyen
The museum has 2(.5) floors with exhibits mainly being paintings, drawings, statuettes and a couple of interactive displays.
The top floor also has a small library with books about your favorite canines that you could take some time to read through - this was quite a nice addition, and made the difference between a 3 and 4* review for me.
The main issue is that the museum is rather small for its $15 cost. If you're not a dog person, you will maybe be disappointed by your visit.
Staff was very kind and due to the low amount of visitors, we had time to chat with them.
Would have been lovely to see a sort of 'storyboard' on how we came to have domesticated dogs as we currentlu know them. This could be accompanied by some of the pieces on display, and we'd have been very eager to learn more about the subject.
Robin R
Fun museum filled with interesting featuring all kinds of dogs. Scavenger hunt activity for kids. An interesting hour spent. They also have free lockers to store your bags while you're enjoying the museum. Friendly staff

A sweet little collection of dog art. You learn some history of the AKC and the history of dogs. A nice way to spend a morning or afternoon. You could breeze through in 30 mins or take your time and spend a little longer.
Lucas Ashby
This place is interesting for any dog lover. It’s only a couple of floors, but getting to see some of the different art, the library, and exhibits are interesting. It doesn’t take too much time, but it’s one of the less busy things to do in the city.
Ashlyn Travis
Very heavily art-based so if that is not your thing, you may not enjoy this. We paid $15 per adult and spent maybe two hours inside. I’m very devoted to dogs and love learning about them so that may be why it took that long for me, and not for others. This was also a spur of the moment attraction for us to fill our time in NYC, but I am so glad we chose to do this and wish we could have set time aside for it sooner. This museum is easily on my top 3 things I experienced in NYC.
Lots of art in this with a stacked area of merch and items that actually had educational value to it like the dog breed posters. They didn’t push down your throats the souvenirs and gift section which was appreciated. Aside from just soaking in all of the artifacts and paintings, my favorite was the library upstairs that had hundreds of books about specific dog breeds, breeding and training, genealogy, and more. There was a coloring station for children to occupy themselves while the adults traversed the museum, and my favorite, a children’s book about the internet famous Pug named Noodle. Sadly, Noodle has now passed away but his spirit lives in an illustrated book telling his tale and in our minds.
*also, the bathroom was extremely clean and a nice reprieve from other NYC bathrooms I had been in this past week*
Maria Demesticha
The Museum is ideal for all dog lovers. It includes nice paintings and infofmation for dogs, it has a library section and a great gidt shop. It is especially nice for kids who love dogs
B Y
It's cute for $15 a person. You could probably finish museum in 30 minutes. There's a library upstairs for you to spend time at
Aaron Maass
One of the most fun museums to visit in Manhattan. My wife, friend, and I had a blast.
Yuri Nakamura
Great place to enjoy the interactive exhibits about DOGS! I am a dog lover so I went there and had a wonderful time. If you like dogs, you can enjoy. There is a machine that take your picture and tells you what time of dog you are from the picture taken which is very cool. The city has many museums but this is the only one which specialize in dogs, I think. If you live NYC, come and visit. But if you are busy tourist, go to another places since there are lot to see in the city.
Laura Jones
We loved it! Lots of interesting dog art. Interactive moments that were fun and educational. Nice staff.
John S
Interesting museum. Really friendly and welcoming staff. Loved the library collection: it has many great books about dogs.
I wish the curators did a better job though: please try to put the dog in context: how has the human-dog relationship developed over time? Which are the ways in which dogs and humans have collaborated etc? And then use the art for that context. As it is it seems like a disperse collection of art and sculptures that happen to have dogs but there’s no story.
Paula Fargo
My husband and I have been wanting to visit this museum for a few years now and it did not disappoint! The space is bright, open and airy, the exhibits well spaced and interesting, the employees were wonderfully kind and helpful, and the library was a real find. Even the restrooms were gorgeous! Special shout out to the librarian who gave us some clutch subway advice. Don't miss this museum if you are interested in our canine friends!
Jane Luton
We've recently visited NYC from the UK. We found this little gem after visiting the Empire State Building, being avid dog lovers we had to pop in. We're so glad we did, we enjoyed every second. The staff were welcoming and informative. There is such a lot to see and read, beautiful art work, sculptures & the library offers so much information on everything dog! We had great fun training your virtual puppy and matching ourselves to dog breeds 🙂
A must for dog enthusiasts 🐕
Carol D.
This place is adorable! Price is a little steep. It's great for dog lovers and the paintings and sculptures are fabulous. There's a virtual dog training thing which is hilarious. I can't even train my own dog so I don't know what made me think I could do the virtual dog. It's a great way to spend an hour or two.
Liang-Kai Chu
Mostly are paintings with a small library relating to the breeding of dogs
Shantanu Sengupta
Pretty good museum with lots of art around dogs. Does not take more than an hour to explore. They also virtual exhibit where people can try their hand at training a virtual dog. The gift shop was very delightful and the staff extremely friendly.
B S
Good pleasant viewing experience, mostly focussed on artwork of our canine companions.
Only takes 30 minutes - 1 hour tops though and feels like it’s quite limited overall. If you’ve got an hour to kill and you’re in the area I would recommend (oh, and you like dogs)
Louis Ferrante
Great place to appreciate humans' best friends. Two floors of paintings, sculptures, an extensive library, and child friendly learning activities like a scavenger hunt. FYI, two Fridays monthly visitors can bring their dogs.
Michelle Sang
best hidden gem in NYC! this was way more fun than going to the MOMA or any other art museum i’ve been to. although it was small, i enjoyed looking at every piece and taking the time to examine them. i also spent lots of time in the dog library, there was so much to learn! 10/10 experience
Tony Zhang
Interesting place to see how humans is interacting with dog from the view of art and history. It is a museum about art collection featuring dog. Like we photo our dogs now, people put their dogs on canvas in Victorian era. Fun to watch
Hilda Kapeles
Very guest friendly. Displays were explained well and quite pretty. Fun to see dogs through history. The staff was attentive and accommodating. Fun hour or so in pristine setting.
Leonor Miller
I attended an award presentation at the museum. It is small but the art work is excellent, they a small library which is part of museum. The gift shop is small but very nice and the staff is lovely.
Rosalie Messina
So much fun! Will definitely go back! You could spend the whole day there. They had floors worth of exhibits and a movie playing, library and tons of artwork
Jared Hatch
Looking fur fun? Then paws here! Come to visit, play with the MoD app, then pick up a book - sit and stay in the upstairs library! Don’t forget to sniff around the gift shop on your way out... You’ll surely find treats to bring home for your best friends.

First and foremost, we would like to thank the AKC, its supporters, benefactors and all those who helped to make the Dog Museum a reality. For us, dog lovers, the opening of the AKC Dog Museum was a big thing, and at the prized Manhattan location at that, even with visitors in mind (it is located within 2 minutes' walk from the Grand Central).
The museum is situated on three levels, accessed by a staircase, and, we believe, an elevator as well. Most of the collection is distributed between the ground floor, where also a good museum store is located, and the third floor; with the intermediate level serving as a vantage point to observe the ground floor from above and see the glass-enclosed installation filled with figurines of every canine breed under the sun.
The collection consists of dozens and dozens of paintings dedicated to dogs, from the quite old ones (dating back to the early XIXth century) to the contemporary pieces (think 2005 Barney and Miss Beasley, the famous Scottish terriers that belonged to GWB). The style, genre, manner, historical periods, and, of course, the breeds showcased vary drastically, and there is something for every dog lover, or any visitor for that matter. In addition to paintings, there are figurines, statues, and artifacts representing the past and present of the canine race.
Noteworthy are interactive exhibits, from the humorous display taking your own photo and matching it to a specific dog breed (supposedly looking like you) to the 'Meet Molly" interactive play aimed at training a virtual dog.
The 3rd floor also houses the museum's library that stores hundreds of volumes dedicated to dogs. The library features a spacious seating area allowing to browse through the reading material.
Admission tickets can be purchased online, on the museum's website and printed at home.
Highly recommended.
Aaron Lunsford
Great little exhibit. Really enjoyed the painted art and sculptures. There are a couple of interactive portions: a virtual dog you can train and a camera that shows you what kind of dog you resemble.
Great place to go spend an hour or so for relatively cheap ($15 when we went).
tastysydney
Such a cute museum for dog lovers! Love the dog paintings & the interactive part (which breed are you & how to train a pup)
Albert Wu
Love live dogs. This museum, however, has no live dogs. It’s a collection of sculptures and paintings.
Richard Hunt
Only a 400ft walk from Grand Central Terminal across E 42ND in Midtown Manhattan, the AKC Museum of the Dog is a must visit for anyone who enjoys and cares for dogs.
J “Rog55”
Very cute and small dog museum :) although I will agree with more and think of it as more of an exhibit. Still if you are a dog lover you will get a kick here. Many paintings depicting dogs and mant statues also. I do wish there was more variety though.
Pad Dap (DAPA)
👍👍This is a wonderful new 🐕🐶museum in NYC. It really may be one of the most fun and exciting museums in NYC and the world. If you like or love dogs you have to visit this museum. It is very clean, elegant and inspiring. They have wonderful events that trully honor dogs and our best friends. Both kids and adults will love this museum in a very nice part of New York City. I totally recommend visiting and spending some quality time at the museum.👍👍
Kate Varga
A great weekend activity! Lots of interesting old paintings and art all about dogs. I loved the photo booth that matches you with your look-a-like breed 🐶 I suggest this museum if you are a crazy dog lady like me. …
V J
Cute paintings and sculptures of dogs. Interactive also. Makes you stop and think there's more to dogs than just being someone's pet. Cool place to check out 👍.
Tom Lu
It was a fun museum for those who loves dogs. The interactive exhibits are fun, and we love the large tablet to learn about the dog breeds, the rest of the arts exhibits we're neat but not too exciting to see
Robert Cardoni
Great place for dog lovers and casual fans. Admission is reasonable $15 and gift shop is a dangerous place to spend money ;)
Charles Q
We will miss this museum. Sadly it is moving to NY which I totally agree with because of the community here and their lack of appreciation in the history and culture of mans best friend. They work so hard to appease with events, shows and book signings but get little return from the community. I was glad to have my pups visit this place and will be happy for their move to a civilization that will adore their experiences.
Natalia US
Price not bad, galleria, library, drawing sets, shop.
Jason Capp
Great collection with two floors expanding on the history and mission of the American Kennel Club. The library had an extensive look into all things “Dog”. Worth the trip if you’re in town! Here were some of our favorites:
Gloria Ho
Small museum with mostly paintings and sculptures of dogs. There are some interactive exhibits like matching a breed with how you look, a database on all the breeds, and training a dog (computerized, not a real one). There's also a small library and a table with pictures to color (there are colored pencils), crossword puzzles, and a word search puzzle. Admission is $15 for an adult; i don't think it's worth $15 considering how small it is and it's not a lot of different types/styles of art but it's fun to go once.
Ian Pedersen
Super overpriced but that's probably to keep up with those hefty rent prices. They have some really cool stuff here especially if you are a dog lover. A lot of cool fun interactive things. My girl really loved using the dog trainer. From one dog to another it's definitely worth checking out
Kelly Subin
So fun and well laid out. Good blend of historical art with modern immersive experiences. The photo booth dog breed match up feature is very cute. Low admission price and you’ll get through the museum in 45 minutes to an hour (ideal for me). This museum might be especially interesting to Airedale, German Shepherd, Schnauzer, terrier lovers!
Christine Morgan
Worth seeing for the dog lover in your family. Located in the historic Jarville House, surrounded by beautiful gardens. Filled with art ranging from figurines to furniture to walls filled with paintings of dogs. On day of our visit the museum had a dog show as well as guest dogs that visitors could pet. Scenic dog park outside. On our Saturday afternoon visit museum itself was quiet. Of note, we heard that the museum will be moving to New York in September, though no mention was made at museum itself. Receptionist friendly and knowledgeable. Worth allocating approximately 1.5 hours to enjoy visit at a relaxing pace.
Kevin Chen
Interesting place to stop by and look around, but don’t expect to spend more than 30-40 mins here. There are many interactive exhibits which are good for kids and adults alike. There is an admission fee but it is very affordable.
Mark Zeman
Dog lovers will be rolling on their backs and racing back and forth across the room at this museum. It hosts hundreds upon hundreds of artifacts and pieces of art about Man's Best Friend... ceramics, paintings, metal sculptures -- from serious to silly. You'll easily spend an hour or two enjoying every little nook.
Kirk Linn-DeGrassi
Are arf wags wags four paws and a tail up wagging happily.
Jasmine Haldane
So sad they're moving so far away! I could have spent hours more here, but my boyfriend wanted to leave. A great place for the thoroughly dog obsessed!
Jacqueline C
Spent (an underwhelming) 30 min here. It's mostly an art exhibit. Personally would've preferred more canine related information.
Corrie Hermans-Webster
This is a fun little museum. Great art but a small display. Fun for any dog lover!
Connie Lin
This is a small museum for dog lovers. 🐕🦺
Jacob Little
lol why do dogs get their own museum! 😂😂 lol
Sarah B
Impossibly cute, can be done in under 2 hours. The staff was super friendly, and although there aren't very many interactive exhibits, if you have children or people in your family that love dogs this was a wonderful respite from a hectic city weekend.
Peter Wilkins
Wonderful museum. Small but great for a quick stop. A must for any dog lover visiting NYC
Jennifer Tellsa Story
Very welcoming and so many awesome pieces of dog art! Our dogs were welcomed and staff were all happy...we lost our poo bags inside and we're surprised to find out they had closed as soon as we left! :/ We had no idea the ladies were waiting for us to leave! As we were exiting the parking lot, a staff member came to the car with the bags!
David Hughes
We had such fun with the wonderful fine art exhibition , portraits of all kinds of Dogs and Sculpture pieces that are terrifically so real like and yes a few I would have liked to have taken home with me but alas it is a museum " don't touch " . Upstairs of the gallery pieces are available for purchase as well as a gift shop at the entrance .
What was missing were benches strategically placed to rest our weary bones and to just sit and escape into the seemingly floor to ceiling dramatic Mastiff majesties . Oh ...and the Hounds !!
All beauties.
Bruce Striler
Great place with many exhibits!
Rotem
Incredible museum! Couldn’t recommend more. Will be back soon!
Brenda Burg
Lots to see and learn about dogs.
Alexa M. Pérez Marrero
Great experience!! Very entertaining and fun. They have lockers for free to put your belongings. Admission is $15. Definitely would come back.
Gadi Ben-Avi
It's a mudrum with paintings and sculptures of dogs.
Not what I eas expecting.
Dennis C
I like dogs. Good day for a small side trip, not very big but dogs.
Nadine Joli-Coeur (NadineJC)
Enjoyed visiting this museum. Had some beautiful paintings of dogs from 1800's to modern time.
Emilie Molkentin
Beautiful facility and such a fun collection. Will definitely be coming back.
George Babiak
My wife and I loved this museum and spent a fine hour and a half there. Lots of artwork and some fun interactive pieces. If you love dogs, pay it a visit.
Dustin Mandre
The staff were super nice and the spaces were clean and open (great for COVID-19). There were some nice art pieces and sculptures, but it feels like there is a missed opportunity for more interesting and diverse exhibits. The price doesn't feel 100% justified. That said, it is open, not crowded, and somewhere to go while on vacation during COVID-19.
Brandon (Brandon Benii)
It is a very cute and small museum however there is not much too it and the majority of the paintings are Victorian style. I still think it's worth a visit but I cannot give it more stars as it is only 2 floors.
Jonathan Nightfire
This is a good dog museum exhibits. The price for 1 adult in that museum cost $15.00 and that’s a rip off for a small museum in Manhattan. Discount with a student ID cost $10.00 and it’s very pricey for college students to go in for an exhibits. But they got good classical art work for dogs. I like that table touch screen for any dog breeds to choose from and that’s the best part in the museum. Of course for the kids to attend that dog museum cost $5.00. Guys be careful when you go to that museum it’s a very small museum they could overprice you. For example go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art they got excellent exhibits like Medieval Roman Catholic paintings and more classical and more. The dog museum could be a boring so go to any museum on Manhattan if it’s exciting for you guys.
Eric Walsh
Absolutely loved this place for a nice relaxing afternoon! There are paintings and pictures of dogs throughout the centuries, learning about the origin and purpose of each breed and their features, there’s an interactive app that has a scavenger hunt to find specific exhibits and AR features to learn more about each painting, an AMAZING exhibit of sculptures of dogs from different cultures set in a glass staircase as you walk up to the top floor.
While most of the museum was paintings and memorabilia, there are exhibits focused on dog training, search and rescue dogs, military dogs, the start and evolution of the American Kennel Club, and even a full library of books all dedicated to dog history and information sorted by category.
One of the museum staff informed me that occasionally they have service puppies in training come in to train around the museum. Sadly not while I was there, but just gives me another reason to go back!
Heather Masch
Great museum! It is not big so you can see and do everything and still have time to eat and go enjoy other sites nearby. Or you can chill in their library and read books all day - it is up to you! We did the entire museum, shopped, ate, and went to other places and felt like we got our moneys worth.
It is a block away from Grand Central and lots of parking lots available nearby. Admission is reasonable for the city and the app is adorable.
It is all about dogs - as stated in the name - but my friend who isn't a "dog person" had a great time. The artwork is amazing and just the variety of the collection is awesome.
Lilly
The art and statues they had were absolutely charming, we really enjoyed seeing it all. But we were a little disappointed with the size of it. It should be called an art exhibit, not a museum destination. Not worth travelling into manhattan for on its own, charming if you have other plans in the area, and want to spend a quiet hour looking at oil paintings of (very cute) puppies and dogs.
Lucien Nicholson
Very fun! Would be nice to take kids to or just a dog person in your life! They did seem a little confused in how to handle my service dog being there but were polite about it and we got it sorted!
kelly ann
It looks more like an exhibit rather than a museum. There are a lot of dog paintings and dog statues. Theres no information about the history of breeds but they tell you stories about particular dogs. Overall i like the place since i am a dog person. Covercharge was $15. I visited this place in March 2020.
E Berk
An absolute must for any dog lover/owner. A great date idea as well!
Bill Prindle
If you own a dog (or vice versa) you will enjoy this small New York City delight. Mostly paintings and sculptures, modest gift selections, lovely space to wander in. A few famous dog stories and dog celebrities are represented. Just one of the city's quirky offerings.
Harmony
Attended a wonderful author event here. Beautiful airy space and fun exhibits for all ages, especially the photo machine where you discover what dog you would be! Ruza at the front desk was the best — so welcoming and helpful!
Christine V.
I loved the class taught by New York Animal Artist Karen Miura. Museum is beautiful with 2 floors variety of breeds artwork. Please note the photo shown is from the art class I took at the museum. Obviously the actual art work located inside the museum is beautiful.
Elizabeth Profita
The Dog Museum was overpriced for what it was. Mostly old paintings of dogs and some sculptures. I would love to see the evolution of dogs from wolves, and the evolution of where all of todays different breeds came from. There was not much there for people with modern dog breeds. I also think there should be more famous dogs. I liked reading about the WWI dog Stubby, but how about Balto and Rin Tin Tin? The museum has a good foundation but I think needs some improvement to be more relatable.
Lee Woodhouse
I found this place by accident. I was taking a short cut to get to Roosevelt Island, and came across this gem of a museum. I have two dogs of my own - two Jack Russell Terriers, so I had to pay a visit.
Enterence fee is $15 when I visted.
I didn't know what to expect.
Outside, there is an animation which spans the length of the enterence with different breeds of dog following each other- cool!
Inside, there are free lockers to put your things in to save you carrying them around.
There are pictures and paintings showing dogs through different periods of time, where you can learn about their origins and the purpose of the different breeds.
What is really cool is the interactive app which has a scavanger hunt to find specific exhibits.
Personally, I liked the exhibits showing the search and rescue dogs and the history of the American Kennel Club. There is also a library stocked with books dedicated to dog history.
This museum was a great find and I'm so glad I went in. Its a real gem.
Nick Stavros
Something to do to kill time, but the museum is small. Not really worth the time unless you are specifically a dog fine art aficionado.
Carolann Goemans
Such a great museum! Can't wait to go back!
Mary Klem
Great place for dog lovers! Staff is exceptionally friendly..great exhibits and nice gift shop.
Francis Tompkins
Found it unexpectedly was with friends shopping and came across AKC Museum of the Dog. They had a presentation from NYPD canine division most informative. Wish I had my little great nieces they would walk in g on air with in this museum.
Evan M
The most amazing discovery !! Excellent exhibits, amazing facts, poignant art...all about our four legged friends. Don't miss it!
Mary Dee
Cute little 2 story museum with some interactive features. A nice place to meet up with a friend to walk around and chat. It might take you an hour to get through it all.
Ava French
What a cute museum!!!
Phillip Venice
Really great museum where you can take the dogs. Great park surrounding the museum as well.
R
Great place to spend a relaxing couple of hours. Lots of interesting artifacts from the past...seeing how ancient breeds were used to work, old hand-forged metal collars, rare breed information. Bigger than you might expect this place to be.
Ryan Weisse
Cool place. More art than interactive. Not expensive but not too much to do.
Melody DuVal
It's nice to be able to bring your dog and there are some unique paintings and sculptures.
Claire Wilson
Fun and interesting little museum filled with a fine collection of paintings, some sculpture, and tributes to war dogs. The kids' area looked cute.
Charles Donaghue
Great place to learn about "man's best friend" :)
Joshua D
Nice museum to walk around and was neat that they allow dogs to walk through as well.
My favorite exhibit was the Dogs in Service.
Jane Warshaw
I loved the show absolutely. Especially the painting of the dog ( a retriever as I recall) sitting in front of a painting and staring at it . (Raptly)
It was a big yellow ball.
Is it for sale?
William Thacker
I was disappointed a little. Great paintings limited diversity in dog types. I was looking for more information about dogs, the AKC and activities with dogs.
Robin Walker
Who would've guessed this existed? Hidden little gem in Grand Central. Great place to throw a dog party! If you love dogs, this is a perfect venue.
Gabriele Grassia
Fun museum, try the photo booth for your breed match!
Glenn Thomason
If you like or ( love ) your Dog this is a wonderful place
michael henry
This is nice little museum with art involving dogs. It takes about an hour to go through and has many interesting pieces.
K Wolyn
It isn't very big, but as a dog nut I liked it. Wish it would expand.
Albert Law
Cute little museum with a bunch of dog inspired artwork and literature. Also some neat presentations in the library.
Peter Heshof
Great for dog lovers m, check out the Dog Match, hilarious
Charles Silvey
This museum was fairly fun if you enjoy art and dogs. The art did get a bit repetitive and it felt small for the entry fee.
Adam Foster
Lots of great paintings of dogs. If you like these, I'm sure you'll enjoy their galleries.
Pete Quist
Super fun to see what type of dog you would be . What a nice experience. Friendly staff and you can take a selfie guided tour using your phone.. Fantastic!!
Sarah Cymber
This place is fantastic. If you are looking for a place to hold a wedding, or any event for that matter, look this place up. Ive seen everything to weddings to pug play days (all pugs, all day). They are wonderful to work with and inexpensive as well. Plus, their gift shop is very nice as well. They hold dog days, where a breed of dog comes in to show how they are, and this is for the public!
Dean Lake
If you love dogs, this museum is just the best.
Alicia Aroniss
Very cool museum, wish there was an actual tour or app to listen to about each piece they have in their museum. Overall really cool.
Dana Mackonis
Oh my God is all I can say. I have wanted to visit this place for years, and so glad that I did. It will soon be moving to New York City and I doubt I'll be making a trip up there unless I was going to Westminster for the weekend. The artwork is spectacular. The grounds are beautiful. Any place that's on the property is open to you and your dogs. Be respectful of the area, and leave it as you found it. There is artwork inside that just makes you realize how long the love of dogs has existed in the world. There were metal collars that dated to the 13th century, the oldest piece of artwork I saw was in the early 1700. Again just lovely and the curator was one of the most Pleasant people.
Amanda Speiser
We had our rehearsal dinner here, and we loved it! The staff is so easy to work with, and the rental space was inexpensive. As dog lovers, we could not think of a better place to celebrate with friends and family. People loved getting to go through part of the museum during our event!
Kyle Lee
Fun museum! A little lacking, but it is a relatively new. Would recommend for any dog lover!
Joe Denoyer
Excellent experience! Highly recommend everyone to see the Museum!
Sally Burgess
Great place to go. Changes at every so often. Why is AKC moving the museum?
Vicki Berry
Very nice staff and museum. The grounds are lovely, as is the historic house.
campmore barkless
Closed down, so sad, went back to film and gone. Glad we were able to see it two years ago, just wish we had our You Tube channel then.
Mw Deerin
Great Dog museum. It'll be sad when it closes at the end of Sept to move from St Louis to NYC

Beautiful museum dedicated to artwork showing dogs of all breeds. Loved reading the history and tributes to dogs who worked alongside man in wars and other service jobs. I don't know of any other museum that is dedicated to honoring man's best friend in such a poignant way!

Dogs and Art. If you like these two things, this is the place for you. Luckily, for my wife these are two of her favorite things and she enjoyed her entire time at this museum.
There are three stories with the top level filled with quite a few paintings ranging from the the 18th to 21st century. The ground floor had a lot of dogs painted and sculpted in a more modern style. The bottom floor consisted mostly of the history of military and police dog with an emphasis on the K-9 Department of St. Louis County.
It was a nice trip for my wife and I though I think that the six dollar fee was a bit steep.

The AKC dog museum with different sections to visit and marvel. Each section has independent literature and pictures to read. I enjoyed the extra effort put in to recognize emergency rescue dogs, mine detection dogs, law enforcement dogs and military service dogs. It was a nice touch.
