Called and needed a quick move for next day. They were so nice and helped to make my urgent need happen. Everyone from the office staff, to supervisor down to the movers went above and beyond to make this move quick and seamless. They were so caring and professional and I couldn’t have asked for a better company. They kept me up to date with times and the process up until the end. These guys are top notch!!!! If you need great movers don’t hesitate to call this company. Thank you guys for everything and I will definitely recommend you to anyone needing moving services. The "A" team from A Friendly and Affordable Movers, Luis, Brody, and Jeremy were outstanding!!!!! They moved us this past weekend with speed, ease and professionalism. They went above and beyond to make sure all of our furniture and belongings were wrapped and secured for the journey to our forever home 🏡. Before their departure, they walked the house 3 times to make sure everything was set up properly and we were totally satisfied. Thank you Mr Gerard for showing up for our job to help load our truck very professional person that actually knew how to load a truck I've been in the moving business for 30 plus years and needed an extra guy. Gerard the person they sent over not only knew how to carry furniture also carried boxes without asking and was always moving and doing something amazingly this person even knew how to pack a truck since my arm was broken .. I've had several workers in my moving business and this guy was top-notch he was so good I tipped him and the owner tipped him ... thanks again friendly and affordable movers the best part was all I did was call them and say hey can you send the guy over I'll have money to pay you when he gets here they did that without me signing anything without me giving a credit card the whole nine yards I can't say enough about finding someone that is dependable . shows up , and send someone that knows what they are doing great experience I don't know what else to say other than great experience.

The job was a complete clean-out of a 2 bedroom apartment in an assisted living facility with the contents going into storage. I was impressed with this crew from beginning to end. Luis, Jacob, and Brody arrived on time and were prepared to get right to work. They were very organized. Every box was well-packed and labeled. The crew was friendly and polite to the staff and residents of this facility and minimized any disruption to their routines. I had a specific way I needed the boxes placed in the storage unit and there were no problems at all. This was a very capable and professional crew, and they helped make what was a very difficult day for me a little easier.

This company is the BEST! I run a local Staging company who stages homes to be sold all over Hampton Roads so I have to move my inventory in and out of homes regularly. Communication with this team is 110%, office staff is accommodating, relational, and just plain sweet. Their movers are also wonderful; They take serious pride in their work and act as if they're moving their personal family items. They're VERY careful with EVERY piece, while still moving surprisingly quickly since, like with most other companies, you're paying by the hour. I've done well over a dozen+ transactions with this team and I have YEARS of underwhelming moving companies to compare them to. I've experienced it all. If you want movers who don't show up on time and are full of excuses...or movers that tell you one price and charge your credit card HUNDREDS more without approval...or a crew that just goes completely MIA, stops answering their phone and leaves you hanging mid-move...or how about a mover who shows up wreaking and high as a kite?....call someone else. Because with Friendly & Affordable you're going to get nothing but reliable, truly professional service. They are worth every single penny and are STILL within the same price range as those other guys. I will go nowhere else. Thank you for all you do for me and my company F&F!!

They were super helpful when I needed a old couch removed and a new couch brought to me from a friends house. They responded quickly to my quote request. All the staff from the nice lady who quoted me to the 3 guys who did the moving were super friendly! I was super stressed and worried about how this would go, and it couldn't have gone better! I cannot stress how very polite, competent, and on-task these movers were the entire time! Very happy! This moving company showed up exactly on time, and stayed until the job was finished. They were very polite, courteous, and carried themselves with the utmost professionalism. They also just clearly knew what they were doing when it came to moving things safely. I had them pack a house into a storage unit, and they expertly arranged things into only HALF of my storage unit. I was so impressed! They even MADE a box for my canvas painting, which I had trouble finding a good way to store. If you want polite and efficient movers who behave themselves, then hire movers from this company! I WILL hire them again if I get the chance :)

I have used this company twice now and both times they have been nothing short of exceptional. I first called them after another moving company tried some shady stuff, and I had only a few days to find another solution. Hannah in the office found a way to work me into the schedule on a super short notice. On the days of my moves, Jay and Donte called when they were on their way, showed up on time, and quickly got to work. They made sure my items were fully protected and had my whole house cleared out in no time flat. They set up just as quickly and finished well before the time allotted. I had such a great experience that I specifically requested them the next time I moved, and I've recommended them to all of my personal and business contacts. During the recent housing crunch, my family was in urgent need for a local moving company. I called numerous moving companies and left messages. We hired the company to load a Uhaul. We were very happy with the team. The gentlemen were friendly, professional, and thorough. I asked for everything to be padded and wrapped, and they went above and beyond my expectations. I figured I would have to nag to pad and wrap like I wanted. However I requested it at the start, and they were VERY thorough. We have many glass tables, a jukebox, and other breakable items that were very well packed and loaded. They worked very efficiently.

The owner visited us to discuss our needs, he gave an estimate before he left. He was friendly and the estimate was affordable! On moving day three very nice fellows showed up. I challenged them to load everything we had into the truck and offered a nice cash bonus if they did....they did!!! They were very careful with our fragiles and antique furniture...they disassembled some items like the dining table. Everything went into a storage facility. I was very impressed and have recommended them to others on Virginia's Eastern Shore.

I was very excited about the price I was quoted for my move, almost seemed too good. So, as moving day approached I began to fear I'd get very basic service or be hit with an "upsale". James, Roger, and Ken were amazing!! Roger wraps furniture like it's going over Niagra Falls. James was very good to work with, friendly and professional. Ken was a complete joy to be around. Amazing movers!! Came on time and walked the entire condo planning out their move and what needed to go. Once the truck was loaded they did a double check before leaving. When arriving to the new house they did another tour on where everything went and went right to work. Asking where somethings went. Wonderful, easy experience from start to finish. My wife and I needed to do a move from Virginia Beach to the Peninsula earlier this year. Brad was very accommodating about the date we needed to move and was very negotiable about price. He ended up beating the quotes from 10+ other movers we had contacted! Moving day went very smoothly. Brad and his crew showed up on time and worked efficiently. They disassembled and reassembled our large furniture. They also moved everything in a very careful way. Moving team was fabulous, friendly, crazy efficient, and just overall so easy to work with for our household move. We've never hired movers before, but from the initial quote to the unloading of the box truck in our final destination, we were put at ease and talked through every detail. They loaded everything safely, and anything we hadn't packed well enough ourselves they were quick to remedy. Everybody had a great attitude despite how heavy/awkward some of our things are and despite the rainy day they were running through. I packed half of my belongings in a PODS and realized that I still had enough left to fill another one. Long story short, I called A Friendly & Affordable Mover and they were able to fit me into their schedule on very short notice. They showed up when they said they would and completed the pack out without any problems. They stored the second half of my belongings in their warehouse. When I was ready to have them transported to my new home, they loaded their truck and picked up the contents of the PODS and headed out. They arrived on time. I have unpacked 95% of the boxes and not one thing has been damaged. Great experience. Would recommend them to anyone looking for any move.

We had a local move from one 4 BR house to another 3.2 miles away. Crew chief Jay, PJ and TJ arrived right on schedule and worked together so well. I had everything packed and ready, except the beds which they took apart. They carefully wrapped everything. The truck was filled to maximum capacity by lunch time. I happily gave them cash for their lunch (they didn't ask, I offered). They really worked hard, carefully and quickly. They were scheduled for a one hour lunch break, but were back in 40 minutes, ready to go again. After lunch break, they unloaded everything and set up the beds. They were careful to check with me if they were not sure which room to put something in. There were a few items left from the shed at the old house that wouldn't fit on the truck. The crew chief asked me if I wanted them to make a second trip. Since we had already expended all of the time quoted, we decided to bring the few remaining items ourselves. Overall, we ran over the quoted time by one hour, but through no fault of the crew...we just had a lot of stuff to move and they worked quickly and hustled all day long. I would like to compliment this team. They were friendly, cheerful, and never lost their cool. Nothing was broken as they took good care with everything. I have had a bad experience with movers in the past, so I was worried, but I couldn't have asked for more or better. This team exceeded my expectations and I will definitely hire them again, and refer them to anyone who needs a good, reliable and affordable mover. Kudos to Jay, PJ and TJ...you guys were awesome! Thanks for taking such good care of us.

I was super impressed with the movers from A Friendly & Affordable Mover. They arrived promptly during the promised window, and they immediately got to work after confirming the inventory of my belongings. They did not waste any time talking or slacking off. Three gentlemen had my 1 bedroom apartment on a third floor walk-up packed within 1.5 hours. Two of the men had to drive my stuff 5-6 hours away to my destination. My mother met them at that location, and she said the men worked extremely hard (again having to go up a flight of stairs) and had everything unloaded within 2 hours. They took extreme care in covering my furniture with blankets and nothing was damaged. They were much more affordable than other options I considered. I would use them again and recommend them in a heartbeat.

A long overdue review of an excellent moving experience. A few months ago, we reached out to A Friendly & Affordable Mover to do an in-town move. The owner, Dan Frasier came out in person to give us an estimate, with a solid fee with NO “depends on xyz” hidden fees. We asked them to do the full move - I was 35 weeks pregnant on moving day and there was no way I could pack or move anything. The price was reasonable - not the cheapest, but not the most expensive, and the initial estimate process felt very professional. The actual moving service was excellent. Jay and his team came to pack us on day 1 and they were all courteous, efficient, and careful with our furniture and items. Everything was packed well. The second day move was a long day and the guys worked hard all day, and extra guys came through to help out to make sure it was all moved in reasonable amount of time. Everyone was great, and made sure things were put where I wanted them to go. On the third day, two women came out (I’m sorry I don’t remember your names!) and spent all day unpacking for me; they were patient with me while I tried to figure out what goes where and very efficient once I told them where I wanted things to go. And they also took away the boxes!! Would definitely use them again if we move in the future. Thank you for making our move as easy as possible!!!

This morning a crew from A Friendly & Affordable Mover arrived to pack a POD that I am using to transport some furniture to Connecticut. Justin, Jason and DJ arrived right on time and with all the materials needed to wrap and protect my furniture. They were very professional and efficient and had the pod packed very quickly. I was impressed with the care they took to secure all the items so nothing would shift when the pod is moved. I would recommend them highly.

BEST MOVERS we ever had!!! A big thanks to Barbara who was so great and helping us get organized for my dad's move to an Assisted Living Facility. She was totally understanding about having to work around the ALF's moving in schedule and made accommodations cheerfully! Our actual movers came a few min early (they called to make sure it was okay first) and they were AWESOME!! A big THANK YOU to Marcus, Tommie and Eric T!!! Professional, hard working, super patient working around my dad (who is very ill) and friendly as well. They brought everything door to door and set my dads room up in the ALF the way he wanted it. I had a WONDERFUL experience with this moving company. I had a lot of boxes (about 200) and they were surprisingly able to get two huge trucks worth of my belongings into the storage unit. They were professional and hard working- not even wanting to take a break until 2 o’clock in the afternoon when they were nearly finished loading the trucks. Most notable was the care they took in wrapping and handling my items. You could definitely tell they knew what they were doing. When I move into my new house in six months, I will definitely call and specially request Jay, Marcus, Joe and Xavier. They were incredible and made what could have been a stressful day a breeze. In life, you get what you pay for. You can get your cousins to throw your things in a pickup truck 😀or you can call a professional mover. I’d make the same choice again. They are definitely worth it.

This is the only company I’ll ever use to move me and my family. We started using them in 2016 when our house had to be gutted and repaired. I found them on Angie’s List. They helped us move into a temporary home, into a long term stay Hotel, and then back home. All during this time we had my mother who was an Alzheimer’s patient. This was a great moving experience; and we are experienced retired military with 10+ moves under our belt. I called to arrange a move for my 85 year old Dad into assisted living. Irvin and Zac helped us move a bunch of new furniture up to Wintergreen yesterday. It's a vacation rental and needed all new furniture. They removed all of the old furniture and loaded in the new furniture. No big deal....except the job ended up being so much more difficult than any of us imagined. WAY more difficult. They never once complained about ANYTHING and when I started suggesting that they maybe start shortcutting some things so they could get on the road and drive back home - they insisted on staying and finishing the job the right way! I worked alongside them all day unpacking boxes and moving things around and I was honestly sad when they left. I truly enjoyed working with them. Dan has always had great people but these two guys are truly exceptional.

Friendly & affordable was a blessing. Firstly, if you’re thinking of using all my sons, DONT. Used them a year ago and then friendly & affordable this year- we loved them. We will never go back to any other moving service. Yes it is expensive to have people pack & move your items but you get what you pay for and believe it or not we paid this company to pack & move the same amount we paid the other company just to move- with a lot less of the furniture. It all started with the owner coming out for a consultation- which we accidentally stood him up the first time as something came up and I completely forgot to call! He was so kind and understanding! He came out the next week & basically audited the place to see an estimate. So affordable. I paid right then & there for the full service. Communication from then until the move (about a month) was exactly what it needed to be. Email communication, calls to verify expectations, and even a handwritten letter saying how to best execute the move- very personal! Then the day came and they only had a 30 minute window. When you’re moving this is HUGE. We have a new baby so it’s so appreciated when people can budget time appropriately. They showed up within the window with time to even spare. A group of 4 gentleman showed up. Jay & his team. They were very professional, made me feel comfortable, and I didn’t feel the need to watch over anything they did! I could go all day saying positive things but I’ll save you all the time! This team is great!!

REVIEW 2 FROM SEPT. 2018: We sold our house, thanks in no small part to being able to move about half our furniture and stuff before putting it on the market. Move #2 was just as efficient as the first reviewed below. Scheduling was a breeze and the team arrived on time and ready to work! Back from Move 1 was Team Leader Chris (who got everyone organized, and then went to work hauling, wrapping, etc.), and Gerhard (wizard at dis-assembling and re-assembling plus takes exceptional care protecting the things we designated as special pieces, plus he has great taste in music!). New this time was Joe (serious muscle plus a really polite young man). All three of them hustled the whole time they were packing out and then in and all really cared about making sure we were satisfied, including moving and re-arranging existing items. This is a company that TRULY lives up to its name! Another five stars and highly recommend. ANOTHER five stars! Back REVIEW ONE FROM MARCH, 2018: Dan from A Friendly and Affordable Movers gave us an estimate on Monday which we found quite reasonable, plus he assured us that his people would go above and beyond what one might expect We signed the contract on the spot and the following Monday they packed us out the first half of our house in an hour and a half and everything was in our new house in NC before 3 pm. The crew was meticulous in being sure that everything slated to go made it on the truck, they hauled several items out to the curb for bulk trash pick up, AND, although they warned me several times that the huge armoire (that had to make it down a flight of narrow stairs) had a base in extremely fragile condition, they also were cognizant of how much this antique from my grandmother meant to me. It now sits proudly and intact in our new home! And they did not leave until they were sure they had done everything possible to get all pieces in just the right place, including moving pieces that were already there. I simply cannot say enough good things about the owner Dan who made us feel so comfortable that every single thing would be done to make this partial move (we will of course be back to them for the final move out once the house sells), and he definitely did not undersell the professionalism of his crew. Chris, driver and team leader, Lorenzo who despite only two years in the business has an uncanny eye for spatial relationships plus boundless enthusiasm, and Gerhard who was the rest of the muscle on the move out - all so far exceeded expectations, it is difficult to compliment them as individuals and their corporate culture highly enough! Unfortunately we had two pieces of furniture damaged, even though each piece was wrapped during transit. I calculate that as the cost of movers moving quickly rather than friends taking their time.

This move took place on October 13th and I couldn't be any happier.Tony & his team met me at my office..They were on time and ready to work! It took me over a week to get things staged and no time for them to load it all,and Tony making sure all items leaving were loaded,covered and wouldn't shift,as well as going over the contract to make sure I understood everything.Very professional! When we got to the new office, I explained it was on the second floor and there was no elevator. No complaints whatsoever the whole time (I was tired the 2 trips I made up and down the stairs ,they made plenty more trips) and it was a Saturday to boot. I can't recommend them highly enough! Always professional. I will use them for all my moving needs in the future.

The work order was to switch out refrigerators in two properties. It was discovered that the copper tubing to the ice-maker at one of the properties was not installed correctly and what could have been a water disaster was quickly resolved by Jay and Dred. They were professional, friendly and had a “can-do” attitude when I was ready to call it and finish job after the water line was corrected. I would hire them again!

3 movers showed up on time and "ready to go." Finished in under 2 hours, which is what we had scheduled and budgeted. The only suggestion would be to let the customer know in advance there will also be a $75 "truck charge," which I didn't know about beforehand. Otherwise, service was just fine.
