This place is as tight a storage facility as I have seen. I was moving in on 80-90F days, and the inside was nice and cool. Place is super clean and tidy, seems secure, and provides great moving equipment free to use. This place is more expensive than some nearby places, but you're getting what you pay for.

From the moment we walked in, Stephanie the manager greeted us with a warm, genuine smile and asked "How can I help you." We've never used a storage facility before so this was new to us. She walked us through the process with ease. About a week or two later, I went out by myself and had difficulty opening the lock. Marie has been very helpful and friendly as I've been clearing out my mother's storage unit at the South Portland location. We've had a family storage unit there for several years and I've noticed that all the staff have been very diligent about checking all the units to make sure they are properly locked. Once I didn't properly lock my unit and they called me right away. Over all, the facility is very clean, the carts are in good shape and I've never had any problems with the facility or staff.

Seamless transactions and incredibly helpful. They have really good hours, so it's easy to get in and out of the building at the beginning or end of the day. The unit I rented was clean. I didn't love that I had to ride a slow elevator, and that a lot of the carts were in a state of disrepair (maybe that's better now), but the front desk staff was great and very responsive. I've rented storage at a lot of places - I had a really good experience here.

I'm a people person and although I could have rented my unit without interacting with a human being, I needed Marie in more than one way. I am a small business owner and founder who used to live in Portland ME 11 yr. ago but have now moved away. I rarely provide reviews of companies or individuals but I feel compelled to do so in this case. Life Storage Company – I was a customer of Life Storage (formerly Uncle Bob’s) for 11 years and did not visit my storage unit during this interval. Recently, I removed the contents of the unit and it was amazing. After 11 years, it was as if I put the stuff in there 1 month before! No dust, dirt, etc. like other storage units that I have rented around the country. Equipment for moving is on site (and it works), the place clean and well lit. I would highly recommend this company based on this experience. Its Gorham Road South Portland Manager – When I arrived after driving from the Midwest, I walked in the door as what I think might be every storage facility manager’s nightmare. The conversation between us began with me saying: “Hi, I haven’t been to my storage unit in over 10 yr., I am not sure of the number, I do not know where it is (am I even in the right place?), I am not sure that I have a key to get in, I am really not sure what is in my unit but probably more than half of the contents needs to be thrown out, can you help me?” Despite this sketchy introduction, the manager, Stephanie, was amazing. I had forgotten what customer service and helpfulness really is. I never heard the phrase “sorry for your inconvenience” but instead she became an incredibly helpful problem-solver who answered my questions and directed me to where I needed to go. All of the information that she provided me was accurate and allowed me to get this job done efficiently. In summary, the combination of the company and its outstanding store manager made a task that I was dreading a very pleasant experience.

This place is perfect all the way around!! We needed a quick storage space and the day I called I was given a storage space without any hassle!! The staff were friendly and helpful, the process for bringing personal items to the space was efficient, two great elevators, the building is safe and bright with excellent lighting that automatically turns on and off by sensor so you're never in the dark!! I was able to cancel the space with one email and everything was taken care of. The storage is clean, quiet, and safe..oh and dry and fabulous temperature control. What more could I ask?? Great storage and super location!! Private and safe.

Needed a safe, secure place to store my 97-year-old mom's possessions while she transitioned from Assisted Living to rehab and thence to a yet-to-be-determined nursing facility. Stephanie assured me that she would oversee the move-in if I couldn't be there, which turned out to be the case. Life Storage has a very user-friendly system. All I have to do now is swing by the office and pick up my key.

Haven't even moved our stuff in yet, but this place is excellent! We are moving up to Portland from Philly with a ton of stuff and needed some specific storage requirements met and Stephanie could not have been more kind and helpful. She worked with me to solve both scheduling and unit size concerns and was extremely friendly throughout the whole process. Finding temp-controlled storage in summer this far in advance was proving a real headache, and was causing lots of frustration and anxiety; Stephanie solved everything in one phone call.

We recently moved from Illinois to Maine and needed some quick storage upon realizing the home we rented sight unseen wouldn't accommodate some of our furniture. Web unit selection and sign up was a breeze. On arrival at the facility, I was having trouble keying in the PIN code at the gate (bright sunlight and I'm old!) and a manager immediately came out to help. Once she learned I was a new client, she showed me to my rental space and gave me an overview of the facility. Great facility and great service.

Nice people, called when my unit wasn't locked right. Mostly good experience but there no grace period for late fees applied and they only pro- rate when you sign up. If you sign up mid month they charge till the end (pro-rated) but if you leave mid month you have to pay for the whole thing they won't pro rate so you only pay for part of the month. Not happy about that.
