My family and I had moving plans which fell through less than 2 weeks before we had to pack up and move out of our previous home. Jay and First Rate Moving were THE ONLY COMPANY able to accommodate us in such short notice. Not only was it easy to to work with Jay and set up logistics and planning but his crew was amazing! It took them about three hours to move us out and about three hours to move us in. They were friendly and efficient through the entire process. My family and I owe First Rate movers huge thank you. Hands down the best!

When I needed to store my furniture while completing a house remodel, First-Rate Moving was there to help. They quickly responded to my request which was sort of last minute. The team that came out to pick up my furniture we careful, efficient and pleasant. and, When I asked to have my furniture returned, again on short notice before the Christmas holiday they were extremely accommodating. All furniture returned in perfect condition. Highly recommend this company and if ever needed in the future will definitely use them again.

My experience couldn't have been better. From the very first phone call to Jay, to the end of the move, everything went smoothly. Jimmy, Jay, and Gregory, the moving crew, were focused, efficient and got the job done about 3.5 hours before the estimated amount of time. I appreciated the communication throughout the process...someone came the very next day to evaluate my apartment, an estimate given and adjustment the cost as needed; the email the day before as a reminder and a time frame of expected pick up; an email 30 minutes before arrival of the truck on the day of the move; the courtesy of the crew and their knowledge of packing and moving items carefully, and their hard work. I am very pleased with First Rate and will definitely recommend them to others in need of their service. I must add that it was so nice to have the phone answered by the owner and I didn't have to speak to an automated answering service. This really meant a lot to have that personal touch/voice.

During my 1st conversation with Jay at First-Rate Moving & Storage I knew he was going to be the one I wanted to do business with. We were moving out of our NH house & needed to put all our personal belongings in storage for 2 months. We were so pleased with how they took the time to wrap our furniture to protect it. Once our new home in Indiana was ready for us, they moved all of our household from storage to Indiana. They were careful in handling all the boxes & furniture and placed everything in each room as directed. Jason kept me informed all through the process & quickly got back to me when I had questions. Oh, did I mention they also were able to trailer our vehicle for us? The price he initially quoted me didn’t change, the cost was exactly as quoted. This was a big move for us and he made it so easy. Absolutely blown away by the professional handling of our double move from home to apartment and out again. With my wife leaving unexpectedly for a death in the family and me still working and trying to end the packing, the team was responsive and always answered texts within minutes. Then, Gregory, Eddy and Jimmy, came in and politely, efficiently and expeditiously wrapped, packed and moved us out of our short term rental. I had time to run the usual end of lease rituals with cable, lessor etc., and get to my destination. All was done with an air of pride in what they do and who the company is. I've moved homes regionally several times and can say without a doubt that Jay and his crew rank right up on top with the big boys. The job was large, 4BR household in the Boston suburbs. It contained not only all typical living space items including multiple bedroom sets, living room, dining room, family room, a freezer, along with a large workshop with several large power tools, lumber, a library with at least 70 very heavy book boxes and a large shed full of outdoor equipment including a riding lawnmower, snowblower, chipper and wagons. I learned long ago that putting as much in boxes would save the day. In this day when movers want you to "send pictures", a lot can go wrong with that method. Mark your boxes with your destination room. Jay came to the house on fairly short notice and delivered a quote within a day. He worked with me over a month to refine exactly what I would be shipping and delivered a price that was not only competitive, but provided a confidence that he would deliver 100% of what he promised. He did. The mattresses and springs were put into heavy duty plastic envelopes and the several large rolled-up rugs were wrapped in heavy plastic. I packed everything else myself (ugh!) We needed two trucks, and needed to safely store the contents for several days between move out and move in. The contents remained on those two trucks to prevent possible damage due to loading and unloading. His per-diem storage rate was fair. The trucks were stored inside his southern NH warehouse for safekeeping. The trucks were clean and well-kept, and he included all necessary items to wrap and protect furniture and other items. He laid down protective floor coverings. I was moving to a rural location in Vermont, where the term "mud season" is real. The roads are dirt, steep and winding. In March, the possibility of getting large trucks stuck is very real. Jay even scouted the area in advance as he had another move going to Burlington VT earlier in the month. That was a big confidence-booster. I asked them to arrive at the new home at 6:00 AM to try to avoid the mud, which they promptly did, with no problems, even with two feet of new snow falling within the previous week. The area is also renowned for its lack of cell phone service, so advance communication was essential. The unloading went like clockwork, I stood at the door and confirmed the destination of each item, which has always been the best strategy. They then helped me place heavy furniture pieces into the best location. We were lucky the trucks could back right up to the garage and unload, to minimize the amount of "mud" that came into the house. NOTHING WAS BROKEN OR DAMAGED! They had sufficient work crew to load and unload in about 6-7 hours at each end, each worker was strong and more than capable of handling even the heaviest item with care. I was so pleased that I tipped each worker generously. I would use First-Rate again in a heartbeat for any local or long-distance move. Communications before and after the move was the best I've ever had and set expectations such that everything went as planned and there were zero issues.

He and his guys carefully wrapped and loaded the furniture and did the reverse when they arrived in NJ. Jay had to meet a friend of mine in NJ since I was still in florida at the time. He communicated with my friend equally as well and did a fantastic job of getting everything up a tight 2nd floor walk up. We hired First-Rate Moving for our first big move into our new home, in a new city, in a new state. When I asked some of our friends who'd moved from MA to NH we got an enthusiastic recommendation. When we got the price quote it was a done deal-their price was very competitive in comparison to other companies, and the reviews I'd read online were both plentiful and all very positive. They showed up right on time and got to work. They had us walk them through and tell them everything that was coming/going, and that was all we had to do. They went above and beyond, wrapping our furniture for us, bringing in moving blankets and such. When they got to our new house, they were very efficient (speedy yet careful and precise) when moving the furniture into our new house. All 3 guys were very friendly and very helpful. They were hard working professionals. Normally people only take this kind of time to write negative reviews or fake reviews. The fact that I am writing this right now should tell you it is not fake. It's not often that you hire a company or a person to do a job and you are blown away by the quality of the work, the price, and the people doing the work. I think the best thing about the guys from First-Rate Moving would be that they seemed to enjoy and take pride in their job, they were happy to be there, and happy to work with one another as a team, and happy to answer our questions and make our move as smooth/easy as possible.

I dealt with Jay for scheduling, coordination and billing and he was nothing short of excellent and very accommodating when I needed to change the time of my move at the last minute. Jostin and Jimmy were dispatched to load my truck and were there precisely on time. They were very friendly and professional and did an excellent job loading the truck. I did the driving myself (a uhaul) 20 hours to Memphis, TN and despite some nasty roads (I’m talking about you, Kentucky!) and a bumpy ride on a gravel road in upstate NY, absolutely everything arrived at my destination in excellent condition. Jostin and Jimmy paid great attention to detail, secured everything well and even provided a tie down strap to supplement what I had on hand. Fantastic service from true professionals. This was the most professional moving company I've ever worked with. The quote came in a bit higher than some other local movers, but we chose First-Rate Moving due to the positive reviews. The movers are truly First Rate!! A team of 4 men came to load the trucks on a sweltering hot day and they worked harder than I've ever seen. On unloading day, it was equally hot, and 5 men unloaded us. The team members were all friendly and professional and made moving as fun as possible! To our pleasant surprise, the actual amount came in much lower than the estimate! Don't hesitate to choose this team. They are AMAZING!

We were so very pleased with Jay snd his workers for our move from Massachusetts to South Carolina. The move consisted of a storage facility plus my condo then my home in South Carolina and another storage facility. We had glass items like coffee tables and china etc and they were so professionally transported in the truck that not one item was broken. What I liked about the move is that I had my own truck and did not have to share it with anyone. I worried about certain things but nothing happened to anything that I moved here. If you’re looking for a mover please do not hesitate to call on this company. I would highly recommend them. Jay was so calm and professional and did exactly what I wanted. I had a great experience with Jay and his crew yesterday moving me from Burlington, MA to Southern NH. I called 5 other moving companies for quote's and First-Rate was actually the lowest even though their hourly rate was the highest. They started and finished on-time and were very professional from start to finish. I was concerned that everything wouldn't fit in a standard 20' truck and unlike other companies Jay said he would send a bigger truck for no extra charge to ease my anxiety. I look forward to using them again in the future.

Met w Daniel in Feb before our move to itemize all rooms to be moved. Updated that in June for July move. Jason coordinated the moving aspect including our convertible behind the van. At least 5 packers came a week before move, they needed to return another day to finish. Packers were courteous & asked important packing questions. I would have liked the items packed more clearly identified, not only where the room it came from, but items in boxes& frames/ art . There were hundreds of items to be packed. The day of the move was long, they knew what to do, carrying heavy items from 3 floors. When the 2 Penske vans arrived in SC , they didn’t have as many movers needed, only 2 could have had 4. It happens &they preserved & got it done. One of them drove the truck that packed in Ma. Jason , manager oversaw the operation the moving day As he was there all day with a very positive attitude . which helped my uneasiness & directing. I would highly recommend First Rate All was packed securely & nothing was damaged. . Jason also accommodated us best with our fluctuating decisions of moving date.

Jay and his team moved a large truck load of furniture from two locations, one in Franklin, MA and one in Mendon, MA to a three story house in Newton. I call the Newton house the "Stairmaster" house, where it's a total of 5 flights of stairs from the street to the 3rd floor bedroom, so a very difficult and exhausting move. Jay and his team arrived on time and finished at the exact time he estimated, never stopping even once for a break. A great job, well done, with a very friendly and professional owner and crew.
