We used Hemmen Moving for a local move. Lindsey was easy to work with and help coordinate our dates. We thought we would have to put our items in storage, but at the last minute were able to move directly into our new home. They were able to switch to a direct move without hesitation. Nathan, Owen and Dawson did an amazing job. They worked quickly and efficiently. We have a lot of very heavy furniture pieces, and they moved them without complaint and took them where we requested, several coming out of and going into the basement. We would highly recommend Hemmen Moving for any of your moving needs!

Hemmen Moving did a great job for me, and they did it at a reasonable price. Lindsey was helpful from the start to the finish. The movers were very careful with my furniture and were friendly and helpful. I asked them to set up two bed frames as well as put my dining room table back together, and they happily did those things for me. They worked efficiently, not taking any unnecessary time. When it came time to pay, there were no hidden fees. Everything was as Lindsey said it would be. I would highly recommend them.

I had an unusual move that Hemmen was great to work with on. I moved out of my residence in August of 2021 and did not move into my new home until Sept of 2022. Hemmen stored the majority of my furniture for over a year. I was very pleased that the people that had picked up my "stuff" were the same individuals that delivered it to me. I had a few items that they had to disassemble, and they knew exactly how to put them back together. That was relief because I didn't. The work was down quickly but carefully and nothing including the furniture, or my new home were damage in the move. I would not hesitate to us Hemmen's again or recommend them to a friend. Mike

Matthew, the team supervisor, managed his crew professionally and I was amazed out how quickly the whole process went. He was thoughtful, considerate, and kind to me as a customer. When we unloaded in Kansas, it was a different crew but Matthew was still lead and the experience was equally positive. I am thankful I didn't go with a national mover as my experiences with them in the past were not nearly as positive. I recommend Hemmen heartily.

We recently used Hemmen Moving when we moved from Ames, IA to the Kansas City, Mo area. Our house in Ames sold before we could get into our KC home and we stored all our furnishing in the moving trailer until the move could be finalized. These movers from Hemmen Moving were professional, quick and answered lots of questions for me. Nothing was broken, everything was put where the box said they should go and they moved me with a ton of snow on the ground. The person who was to put together my new kitchen table no showed - so they did it. It only took them an hour and I happily paid the price for them to do it! There was a mileage charge, but it was minimal and worth it. Nathan and Travis did great work, and I recommend this company for your north Central Iowa moving needs.

Of my three interstate moves, Hemmen Moving far exceeded all others. With one truck and one team lead dedicated to our household, we did not have to worry about our items getting intermingled with those of other households by other staff. The overnight security at Hemmen's location and at our end location was strong. The team lead hired additional staff at the end location and they were equally respectful, responsive, and friendly. Moving is a very hard job but the Hemmen team made it seem like a fun logistical and physical challenge. Everything arrived in the number of pieces it should and the price was exactly as we expected.

Then emptied the truck; then went with me to nearby storage unit; filled truck again and mostly emptied it before their 3 hours ran out. Put stuff where we wanted it carefully and respectfully. Hemmens did a great job of getting a piano move scheduled and stress free. They called to let us know they were running a bit early and the whole process took them about an hour to load the piano in Ankeny and move it to Ames. We moved from Fort Dodge to Iowa City and had Hemmen Moving referred to us by some friends. They were extremely easy to work with to set up the move and even after adding a refrigerator and freezer and a few other things their original estimate for the job was right on target. The guys that actually did the move were very friendly, professional and courteous. Travis and Nathan from Hemmen came to my mother in law's house and loaded her millions of pieces of really heavy furniture into a POD. The furniture was heavy, there was lots of it and they managed to fit it all in the POD with NO damage to the furniture or the walls/woodwork in her house. We were very impressed and so glad we hired them. They were polite, professional and worked hard. We highly recommend them.

I have moved many times. In-state, out-of-state, out of the country, etc. This was my easiest move. The movers worked constantly for 4 hours and finished the job although we have quite a bit of stuff. They were very careful with everything. Mathew did his best to fit everything within 40 ft to save us money. Their pricing is crystal clear. You ask for what you need and there are no surprises. It's a very clean business model, especially because I had been scammed by dishonest moving companies before. They have my highest recommendation.

Best move we've made out if the last 4! I have had to move a couple of times and be relocated by my employer over the last 6 years...followed up by moving twice on my own; so after 4 large household moves in 6 years of 4 bdrm house with 4 kids/2 parents we know a thing or two about moving. Hemmen was the 1st company we have worked with that allowed us to choose the truck size (40 foot) and give you the option of 3 men working instead of 2 men. The result? We saved thousands of dollars in costs and they moved our stuff in half the time of any of the competition we have worked with in the past. They did an inter-state move for me in summer 2020, and excluding driving time, total load & unload time was maybe 2.5 hours max. (And I have a lot of stuff.) They placed all my boxes and furniture exactly where I wanted, which was much appreciated as I was moving into a 2-story duplex. Only 3 movers came, but got us moved in the time allowed and the charge was less than the contract amount. Everything was handled professionally. Very well done! We had packed and moved everything in boxes the day before. Since we had done this we hired on the smallest semi truck. Initially the two man crew was nervous they'd not get everything into the truck--but they did! They got all the big, heavy, and clumsy stuff into the truck, moved across town, and then unloaded well within the time allotted. Nothing was broken and there were no major nor minor dings in our items. Moving is always hard on furniture but our team was very careful, packed and padded everything that needed it and carefully packed it in the truck. We contracted Hemmen Moving to move us from Boone to Lincoln, Nebraska, and we were impressed with the whole experience. On the day of loading they arrived on time, but with a bigger trailer than we expected. We were not charged for the added trailer footage. It was also a rainy morning, but the crew worked fast and carefully to keep our furniture and our prepacked boxes dry. Couple days later the foreman and his Lincoln crew delivered on time swiftly and efficiently to our new home. They also navigated through some narrow streets to deliver our piano and snowblower to a daughter in Lincoln. Because they brought freight back to the Ames area, we received a discount on the final bill. They helped relieve some of the stress of moving. We would recommend them for any kind of moving jobs.

This company is awesome; I moved from a 3 bedroom house to a senior citizen apartment; the move was effortless (oh yeah, except for all the downsizing). The scheduling gal explained everything in detail, and was very kind when I changed my move date. Pricing was just fine, and believe me, I shopped around for estimates. The movers were not only on time, which is a rare thing in any service industry, they were pleasant, kind, and fast. They didn't make a big deal about having to go up to an apartment by elevator, and did not break or lose a single thing. They even spoke to the landlord, before blocking the driveway at the apartment. I would not have thought that was necessary. Highly recommend!

Despite some last minute adjustments (new driver, etc), everything was done quickly and courteously. Moving across multiple states during a pandemic was never the plan, but everyone followed proper procedures and were flexible to ensure that the schedule could be met. Only one piece of furniture was damaged (a decently sized but cosmetic scratch), and fair compensation was offered immediately.

You know who calls and emails you when you start working with this company? Darren HEMMEN. Not some customer service rep with scripted answers who have never actually physically been involved in moving anyone in their life. If that alone isn't enough to choose this company, they handled communicating with 3 people in our family across 2 states perfectly, didn't damage a thing, everything occurred at the times they promised with the 650 mile move and the lead guy handling our move (the driver) was personable and smart. The crew hustled loading / unloading so the labor cost was perfectly fair. We had a small snag, which turned out to be a non issue - one of the 3 loaders (contractor, not Hemmen employee) never showed up. The 2 guys were able to finish the job without a problem and we actually saved a little money with 2 men rate and a little longer time.
