There’s no question that Gentle Giant deserves their outstanding reputation - they truly are exemplary in what they do! Our move was complicated and included lots of high value items and Gentle Giant was fantastic. The entire team from start to finish was amazing - fantastic attention to detail, care, and focus on customer satisfaction. The team was fast but super careful, professional, friendly, and great to work with. We used their packing service in addition to moving and the packing team was really fast, but not so fast that they didn’t take great care of our belongings. I would only ever move with Gentle Giant in the future!

We are long-time Gentle Giant fans. They've moved me individually, moved my family multiple times, moved a treadmill...every time they are competent, polite and efficient. And, in our most recent move -- a temporary relocation due to renovations -- my daughter tested positive for Covid DURING the move (they had been packing at the house on a Friday, and she tested positive on Saturday morning). The team conferred, agreed they would continue the move as long as we were out of the house. They sorted things into the "storage" truck and the "apartment" truck as planned...and when we later realized while unpacking that our silverware along with 2-3 other small items accidentally went to storage in the mayhem, the quality control office organized a retrieval and delivery of the missing items for no cost. We are customers for life. We ❤️ Gentle Giant.

Having heard of their reputation, I was looking forward to using Gentle Giant as previous experience with professional movers went from barely ok to feeling ripped off. Gentle Giant certainly exceeded my high expectations. The process was simple to set up; crew arrived when expected; were very pleasant and professional and clearly well trained with solid processes for every aspect of a move. Now I know how the reputation is well earned.

Your movers are the best. They work well together, are very considerate of the owners’ concerns & tackle problems which arise with impressive skill. Although I did have a significant glass cabinet broken, it is impossible to tell if it happened last trip, on the way to storage or this trip, on way to my home. I think interaction with the Moves is top notch, as are their recommendations. My only reservation re Gentle Giant lies in the costs incurred.Their prices are the highest of any companies with whom I have compared. There was no discount for moving twice with them in a 3 month period due to my residence not being done on time. The estimate for the second move, getting things from my rental & from my storage unit was not calculated well & ended up well over a thousand dollars off. While the movers themselves make it a less stressful experience, the costs are rather outrageous.

The movers were extremely efficient, friendly, and professional. The estimate cited around 4-6 hours for pickup and 4-6 hours for drop-off, but our team was much faster and came in well under the original estimate. They arrived right on time and communicated their timing ahead, which was greatly appreciated. They took good care with all furniture and avoided damaging/losing any of our items. The GG admin team also helped resolve a minor billing dispute efficiently. I HIGHLY recommend moving with Gentle Giant!

Gentle Giant is amazing! The office team is so efficient, friendly and helpful. All of their communications with me were excellent. The actual mover guys were incredible. They arrived at my place, quickly accessed the job, went out to get the equipment they needed, and then, piece by piece, very quickly, thoroughly wrapped my furniture and rolled it away. They were incredibility careful and efficient! They were also very nice and friendly. At the delivery place their reverse job was exactly as good and the result perfect. Thank you guys!

Joe and his crew were super professional. They came in, assessed the situation, confirmed everything and got to work. They were meticulous with their packing, loading and unloading. We were super concerned with our upright piano, especially since Freight Elevator was out of order. Joe called for an additional crew member and successfully and carefully brought the Piano to 4th floor. This was the first time I worked with Gentle Giants. Excellent! In a new era where good customer service is hard to find, that was not the case with Gentle Giant! When I was attempting to reserve our two week out move date, Terrence really went above and beyond to coordinate and was incredibly responsive. Domas, Patrick, Herbert and Florin are awesome assets to Gentle Giant. They used my name repeatedly during the move and were so kind and polite! They also had really great communication with each other while moving to provide a seamless job. Herbert even offered me some of his bread when I burnt my toddler’s toast! Terrence, Domas, Patrick, Herbert, and Florin really went above and beyond. Pricing was competitive with other moving companies and their non-binding policy actually helped to lessen the overall cost of our move which of course is greatly appreciated. I highly recommend Gentle Giant and will book them again for future moves. I just can’t say enough positive things about the employees and our experience with Gentle Giant. Thank you!!

The move was complicated by the fact that some of her stuff was going to a smaller apartment and the rest was going into storage in Massachusetts. Not a scratch on my white furniture. They were even willing to move furniture in my room around until I was satisfied with the layout. I controlled all aspects of my previous moves and this time I stepped back and let Gentle Giant take control. I was really surprised at how fast and efficient they were. I had a wonderful experience with Gentle Giant and they have earned me as a customer for life. My move ended up having a lot of complications in terms of what I needed and when, and Gentle Giant was EXTRAORDINARY in how they helped me. They accommodated all my changes, they set up provisional backup dates in case (as was looking likely) there was a last minute need to delay the move. On packing day an d move day, they were prompt, the team worked insanely hard (literally running around), they were incredibly friendly. Everything was carefully wrapped/packaged, including some unusual items that needed special care. They aren't the cheapest option, but in my mind it was worth the small extra money. The quote they gave me was quite accurate. The quality of the service was exceptional, everyone was super friendly, and most importantly in my case - since I had a lot of other stressful things going on it was GREAT that I could 100% rely on them to help me out and be flexible to my changing needs.

Each time they have done a terrific job estimating the cost of the move, and then have been punctual, careful, polite and professional in the execution of the move. Interactions with the office staff and coordinators are as close to painless as you could hope for; the crew chiefs who coordinate the onsite activities (packing and moving) have a really nice way about them, commanding the respect of their team and the homeowner; and, honestly, each individual "giant" (some of whom really are GIANT) is expert, pleasant and seems to really care about doing his or her best. Couldn't recommend them more highly.

I have had to move three times in the past five years. Each time I've moved I've used Gentle Giant. Every single time their staff has gone above and beyond and I never regretted the decision. My most recent move is no different. I ordered their pack and ship package, didn't need to lift a finger and everything was delivered to my new place without any damage or hassle whatsoever. The staff involved were always accommodating, asking me up front where I wanted something at the destination, and after everything was done, confirming if I wanted anything adjusted afterwards. Huge shout out to Luke, Adam, Greg and Hunter for making this a seamless experience, and shout out to John for coordinating it all. One detail I did observe during the move that I wanted to bring up: Gentle Giant is the kind of company that cares about their staff, and their staff care about each other. More than once during the move I observed the above movers giving each other tips and tricks for how to better handle moving furniture, disassembling things, reassembling things, etc, without a hint of judgement, snark, jealousy or disregard. Everybody worked really well together and openly took feedback from one another in a way that showed they were team players, and I dare say there are some natural born leaders in the bunch that handled my move. A++, I highly recommend Gentle Giant for your moves.

Gentle Giant allowed to reschedule several times, was very helpful with selecting options and planning, the move itself was well done and very, very fast. Some movers pad the time etc. by being slow, getting "stuck in traffic" and are nowhere as helpful as Gentle Giant.

I cannot say enough good things about Gentle Giant. Their entire staff was incredible from start to finish. The coordination of the move was professional, prompt, and flexible. I had to change our delivery date a few times because of our housing, and the person I was working with (I was assigned to a single contact person at the company, which was so great since she knew all of the details of my move) was so understanding and helpful. The movers themselves were excellent as well. The first crew was so so hardworking, and packed up all of our things carefully and efficiently. The delivery crew was equally hardworking and friendly, and worked with me to make sure that everything was where I needed it to be. We used Gentle Giant to transport our furniture from a restoration company to our home. Many pieces were antique. The items were well protected and the men were courteous, friendly and helpful. They took good care of our things and moved them into the rooms where they were to be used. They even allowed us to retain some moving blankets while final renovation details were completed in some rooms, provided we returned them to Gentle Giant. We felt comfortable with these guys and with the back office too. They communicated effectively, performed as promised, and really paid attention to what we needed. We will certainly use Gentle Giant for any future relocation needs.

My moving experiencing with Gentle Giant was awesome! Scheduling was easy and pricing was transparent and I knew what to expect on the day of the move. The moving crew that came to our apartment was completely professional and also efficient. They took care of everything that needed to be done to get all of our stuff from one place to the next. Every item was packaged carefully and nothing was damaged during the process. Plus, they were all nice people to be around throughout the process! If you're debating using movers, just do it! It was so worth the money, and Gentle Giant provided a great experience.

Gentle Giant was the best moving company to deal with from start to finish. The person helping initially on the phone and providing the quote provided lots of information and the quote included extra insurance for the move which was not done at all at the other companies when I called for a quote. Gentle Gian also quoted five movers and two trucks were no one else did. In the fine print, the others said that the would use one truck and three movers and would have to make two trips, which obviously takes longer. The day of the move the guys were all helpful and took good care of all of our stuff while moving it to the trucks. At the new house, the provided suggestions on where things should be placed that took into consideration things that I hadn't even thought of. Overall, the move was done about two hours ahead of what I expected. Gentle Giant was worth every penny.

Micheal and his team of packers and movers were prompt, professional, friendly, and warm. They handled the move with incredible care and swiftness. Not only did they move 15+ boxes of extremely fragile antiques, they also moved the heaviest and most delicate furniture with the utmost care. When items were brought to the new house, they were happy to move some of the furniture that was already there out of the way and into garage. The final price was about 70% of the estimate. On top of that, we hired to piano team to move our 100 year old steinway baby grand piano. Not only did the team move the piano with great care, they pointed out a number of places where there were a few cracks that needed repair. Something we would have never noticed without the keen eye of a professional. I would absolutely recommend Gentle Giant to anyone moving!

Gentle Giant was no less than fabulous! They arrived on time, moved quickly, ensured everything was well protected and checked to make sure they were packing items that we wanted to move. They even noted that we had numbers written on a tag on many items and when the put protective coverings on the items for the move, they wrote the numbers on top of the coverings I highly recommend them for any move and we will definitely use them again when we move our furniture and boxes out of storage when our house is built.

A little bit on the expensive side, but overall incredibly well worth it. Gentle Giant showed up and took care of every little piece of my move in downtown Boston; they delivered me boxes and packing material way ahead of the move date, showed up right on time, figured all of the details around moving stuff between my old third floor apartment and my new third floor apartment, in old, weird Boston buildings. They are also the only moving company I found that offered to take care of the parking permits as part of the move, which is a pain to deal with when trying to figure out how to park a moving truck in downtown Boston. There weren't any issues or hiccups, and everything went smoothly and finished in under the expected amount of time, and all I had to do was get myself from my old apartment to my new one. They even purchased back the packing materials I didn't end up using. Overall I definitely consider Gentle Giants to be the top-of-the-line moving company in Boston, and will absolutely use them again.

From the moment I called for an estimate, Gentle Giant employees were courteous and unfailingly helpful. Their moving guys work to a very high standard. We've used other moving companies before, but had only bad experiences. This time there were no breakages, and no waiting for 6 months for a settlement! I strongly recommend this company. This was a great experience....from the beginning Jackie, my assigned coordinator, showed care and patience making sure I under stood all my options and any related costs. I was moving from Massachusetts to Florida during a pandemic. Everything was so well coordinated and I felt very well cared for...the team came the day before the actual move to pack up my kitchen and all the delicate stuff (china, crystal, art and the like). It was amazing to watch these professionals at work. They came masked and gloved, working quickly and efficiently and with care. It was amazing to watch them!!! They also wrapped the largest furniture pieces. The next day they loaded the truck with the same care and efficiency. Everything arrived on time and in excellent shape at the other end. Again, the unpacking of the truck and placing each piece of furniture or box exactly where I wanted it, was done gloved, masked and with great care. I would definitely recommend this company to everyone!

I rarely write any reviews, but this one is different because Gentle Giant went out of their way to help me in two very hectic situations. Gentle Giant accommodated me when I had to pack and move my entire apartment after I got stuck abroad due to COVID-19. Moving is already stressful, but moving without being in the country is a whole other story. They were incredibly professional, communicated with me throughout the way and reassured me that everything is going according to plan and my stuff is safely in storage. Moreover, a few months after, I needed essential sensitive documents from that same storage. Gentle Giant went into my storage room and searched for the documents for me, and then made sure the documents were delivered to me. Both of these situations happened in crunch time, and Gentle Giant were quick to respond in both cases. On top of that, the pricing was very reasonable. I really cannot recommend them enough and would hire them again in a heartbeat. Thank you for everything!

I came to the GG storage site to pick up a big old couch and a bigger old desk. The two men who helped me load them into the truck -- or rather who moved and loaded them while I watched and made positive noises -- were cheerfully indispensable -- and did not, I'm pretty sure, actually have to do what they did. Rather, they saw an older guy whop was clearly not up to the task and took over quickly, efficiently, and kindly. All my interactions with Gentle Giant have had this quality.

I was anxious about moving while taking care of an infant and a five year old but our movers took care of everything, even wrapped our TVs and furniture. They moved things so quickly, running back and forth, and we moved from a 3rd/4th floor walk up. They also went to our storage unit to pick up our remaining things. Our movers were so accommodating to anything I asked and seemed upbeat and happy to be there. We also used their piano movers, which included a crane, the team was very efficient and friendly. They were able to accommodate a last minute date change and stored our piano for a few extra days. This is our second time using gentle giant and we will continue to use them if we ever have to move again. Thank you gentle giant for making our move worry free!

I also appreciated the fact that when they sent me a quote initially, it was very detailed and specified everything they would charge for, unlike most other moving companies I requested quotes from. The only downside was that I had to pay for a 4 hour minimum move, instead of the actual time it took for the move, because I changed the move time from the afternoon to the morning of August 31. But they did warn me about this before I made the change.

I had 2 movers for a job moving mostly just heavy furniture and they were efficient, timely and friendly. I feel as though companies in the past have charged the quoted price even though the amount moved was less than expected. This was not the case with Gentle Giant. We used Gentle Giant for a home move in March 2020. The process from start to finish was a great experience. They packed up my house over the course of two days. We had been in the house 17 years, and had four floors of stuff to pack. Their team was bright and professional, and worked efficiently to get us packed. All we had to do was answer questions about what to label things, and whether certain items were going with us. They moved us in and unpacked us in one day, taking all of the boxes and packing material with them. They had one of the team stationed in the kitchen unpacking and helping my wife decide where to put things. By the end of the day, the kitchen was done and ready to go. The bedrooms were set up and clothing unpacked. Even items that we didn't yet know where to put, like wall art and decorative items, they laid out on a moving blanket on the floor so that we could see where everything was and decide where to put them later. I really can't say enough about the Gentle Giant team. They were so friendly and nice, and worked really hard. The move was set to take four days, and they finished it in three. I highly recommend them if you are looking for movers!

Gentle Giant was awesome in helping my wife and I move. We had to move all of our stuff out of our apartment while we waited for our house to be finished. They have their own storage facilities so we didn't have the hassle of setting up storage somewhere else and getting our stuff unloaded into it which was wonderful. The moving crew who took our stuff into storage was amazing and so was the crew who brought our stuff from their storage facility to our new house. Both crews worked very quickly and efficiently but respectful of our items. Fragile items were wrapped up well. We had to change dates a few times as things were in flux and they were very accommodating. I liked that every one of our boxes, items, pieces of furniture, etc were individually tagged with labels and a picture was taken. After the move into storage I got a receipt which included a picture and description of every item. It helped alleviate some of the stress of having all my possessions away in storage for over a month. Overall it was a great experience!

The pick-up was delayed by 1h at the time for the 2h slot I booked. However, the guys just made it in time to finish the job. I wished I was called and informed that the delay was happening instead I called in and the contact connected with the drivers/movers. The delivery was on a different date, which was very smooth with a different set of movers. They assembled my furniture quickly and made recommendation in regards to my wardrobe which did not fit up the hallway and couldn't be taken apart. It was taken to gentle giant and discarded. I liked that gentle giant also is able to store items which makes moving less of a hassle but also may cost more since the items have to be transported back to gentle giant and then to the new location and storage which accrues extra costs. Overall the movers were all friendly and knew what they were doing. I would recommend the service, which is a little more expensive than other places would charge.

For the uninitiated, moving in the Boston area is a never ending nightmare from which you feel you will never wake. That being said, after I was initially screwed over by a smaller company and submitted an estimate through Gentle Giant's website, they almost immediately called me, had an estimate, and provided someone to guide me through their process. Their estimate was thorough, fair, and abundantly transparent The day of the move, Dave and his team showed up 15 minutes EARLY and proceeded to assuage any concerns or worries of mine while they essentially sprinted up and down stairs to bring things to the truck. They were both swift and effective on the move out and just as impressive on the move-in at my new residence. Their efficiency and thoughtfulness can only be described as a benevolent gazelles - deftly maneuvering all manners of stairs, obstacles, and changing whims. Very deep in in my now-weary bones, I feel... No, I know that this company saved both my sanity and relationship. I cannot recommend Gentle Giant Moving Company enough for the humanitarian acts they regularly enact on behalf of the citizenry of Boston. They should be awarded the highest civilian medal(s) of honor and their likenesses projected on the Garden until the sun extinguishes and we are then, and only then, relieved of the existential rot that is moving in the Boston metro area. Gentle Giant Moving Company is a beacon of light and goodness in the violent death-bog made of broker fees and Storrow traffic. They are worthy every darn dollar and then some.

They are maybe not the cheapest: I don't know, and frankly I am so happy with what they provide for the fees they charge why mess around with quotes form uncertain providers. (And I do drive an extra mile and/or shop around for cheaper gas, groceries, car insurance...) The team is competent, CAREFUL, punctual, well humored, quick, responsive to input (be clear upfront about any preferences or wishes) and well-sized for the move. They get the job done with minimal hassle. If moving is a just a get'r done commondity to you.. I'm sure these guys will do the job. But if you value your peace of mind, these folks are definitely the movers for you! And I hear its a great place to work, too.

This is an updated review: The test of any great company is how it performs when things don’t go according to plan. They forgot to put the piano on the truck. Most companies would say sorry and then try to redeliver whenever it was convenient for them. Not Gentle Giant - they apologized and immediately organized a second truck to deliver the piano the very next day. The amount of logistical overhead necessary to make that happen is substantial. The company was extremely polite and professional and remedied the mistake quickly. It is always a privilege to work with a company that truly cares about their customers. Thank you for remedying the situation and doing your very best to deliver my piano on time. I will recommend you to everyone in the future. Fantastic job.

Gentle Giant came THROUGH for our move! We had the pleasure of moving at the beginning of the pandemic (so fun, right?!) and our anxiety levels were NEXT LEVEL. Gentle Giant were so wonderful to work with. They moved our move date up twice so that we could get it done before any lock downs took place (or god forbid they were forced to close). Originally, GG was supposed to pack us up but, given the circumstances, we did as much packing as we could and eliminated the packing day completely. On the day of the move, the guys showed up with smiles on their faces ready to go at 8 am! There was a bit of packing that still needed to be finished but they were all so helpful, offering more boxes and packing help. It was such a relief to have these happy guys helping out! They were SO FAST too! They were completely finished and leaving our new house at 3:30pm that day!! I seriously cannot recommend Gentle Giant enough. Colm and Andrea in the office were so wonderful to work with and the guys onsite were equally as amazing!! Will (and have) recommend GG to all!

We hired a so called reliable & local moving company to move some furniture from my house to a storage facility temporarily for construction purposes. The mistake I made was pay to pay them in cash and when we were able to inspect the furniture when we got it home we knew it was damaged from that prior moving company. So, needless to say when I hired Gentle Giant to move my furniture back to the house, I could see how professional, courteous, caring and personable the crew was with all our furniture. Responsive to my inquiry, helpful as I completed my inventory, very competitively priced (50% of Zillow's estimate for the move), on-time, professional, courteous, and very careful with all of our worldly possessions. Everything was where I wanted it when we were done. They took apart and re-assembled furniture expertly, and there were some items they moved and I dont know how they managed to get it out of the old place and into the new without disassembly. I have highly recommended Gentle Giants to all of my friends, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to you! Very satisfied customer!

We used two different teams to load two Pod's on different dates, on excessive heat and humidity days .Both teams seem to have fantastic, intuitive, and cohesive communication. We had way too much stuff, lots of antiques and lots of fragile items. We also needed certain things to be back near the door so we could move them into a rental 1400 miles away. They listened to my concerns, they packed that Pod within an inch of its life, and finished the job so quickly it was hard to keep up. We had everything packed and they listened to what I needed and loaded it accordingly. BRAVO!!

This was a two part move, with the first part being removal of some furniture from the house for staging purposes; some of that was coming back and other parts were going to storage as part of the large move. They have some logistical issues to work out on the box supply side of the business, but once this is corrected, I would consider using them again based on their professional demeanor and sincere efforts to fix a mistake. Review Excerpt (7/31): This is for the moving box supply service Gentle Giant offers. I requested boxes on a Monday for delivery on Wednesday to pack for a weekend move. On Wednesday morning, I was told the driver called out sick, but that they will send the boxes via FedEx. It's a Friday afternoon at noon, less than 12 hours before my move, and I have no boxes.

I loved my moving team and I will use them again. The only reason they got 4 instead of 5 stars is that 1) they applied insurance without asking me first and 2) they broke a piece of furniture and tried to hide it or at least were not up front about it. I later found the broken piece placed on the floor, several feel away and on the other side of the furniture where I wouldn’t notice it until they were gone. It would have been impossible for the piece to find its way there accidentally. Since the broken piece was at least left for me it was able to be fixed by my handiman so it wasn’t a big deal, but in the future I will be sure to check every piece very carefully head to toe before signing off on the move. Overall the team was great and very nice and very thorough.
