Reviews of Seattle Used Bikes
Worked with Chris and had a great experience purchasing a v-strom from them! I definitely appreciated all the support and knowledge Chris had as this was my first motorcycle purchase. The whole process was fast and not difficult to complete. I definitely recommend.
SUB is both a great used motorcycle dealership and a really good service department.
I started going to them a while ago after a friend who I trust, said that he knew the owner and it was an honest shop with skilled mechanics. He wasn’t wrong. Dave is a nice guy who runs a straight shop.
Also the dudes running the service department are awesome. They get it and are easy to deal with. It is the absolute opposite of what you get at a big money corporate dealership: No hard sells, honest labor rates for jobs, good communication.
As long as SUB is around, I will continue to go to them for the select jobs that I am unable (valve adjustments), or unwilling (mounting tires) to do myself.
Pretty good selection of gear on consignment. Purchased a pair of adventure pants, nwt for a awesome price. Friendly staff.
Amazing spot! Super friendly and knowledgeable. Great place to pick up a bike or store it, highly recommended
Graet customer service!
Way better buying experience than at any dealer I've been into. 100% recommend!
Picked up a low mile MT-07 from them last weekend. Dave quoted me a price and that's what I paid when I got there. Just make sure if you're from Oregon you tell him. Staff were all excellent, got the paperwork knocked out really fast, and helped me tie it down to my trailer (horrible weather and I live 4 hours away). Looking at their inventory it looks like they stock bikes that are in excellent condition. I would recommend them to anyone.
Worked with Chris and the rest of the team to purchase a bike this week. Everything was clear, smooth, and straightforward from the start. Refreshing experience compared to some other places. If you are looking for a bike can’t recommend these guys enough.
3 stars because Dave is a good guy who strikes fair deals for used gear and bikes. Has no idea how to run a repair shop though, and his lead mechanic hides in the back telling himself ghost stories about dielectric grease...
I brought in an older honda single cylinder to have the head gasket replaced last winter. Should have been a routine job. After the work was completed, the bike developed a misfire ONLY when the headlight was on. I knew that nothing else on the bike had changed beside the work that was done, and fueling was unchanged, so the problem had to be electrical. Brought the bike back in to look at electrical issues with explicit instructions. To my shock, they decided to tear apart the carb instead. Symptoms were unchanged after this and instead I received 3 incorrect guesses: battery, ignition coil, and dirty connections. The battery was replaced but was not part of the ignition circuit on this bike so it couldn't have been the problem, ignition coil was replaced to no effect, and the connections were similarly inspected despite the majority being untouched by the work.
So, I brought the bike home and began troubleshooting myself, until identifying the misfire only occurred when current was flowing through the headlight coil, one of three AC coils on the stator. The only components that could be the culprit based on this would be the flywheel or stator. Upon pulling the left side cover, I found a film of iron powder covering the permanent magnets on the flywheel! I know this was not present before the head gasket job as the cover had recently been removed in order to replace its gasket. Unfortunately I did not have a flywheel puller to investigate the backside of the flywheel, but the presence of iron certainly could have affected the electromagnetic field common to the flywheel and the 3 stator coils. I also found iron shavings in the filter screen.
I know that a cylinder stud had to be drilled out while replacing the head gasket, and this is the only logical source for the introduction of these iron shavings into the motor. Unfortunately I didn't have the time to experiment with replacing the flywheel or stator, but did prove that a lower current draw from the headlight partially alleviated the issue.
So while SUB was initially responsive to my problems, there was consistent avoidance of my explicit requests, incorrect hypotheses, and when things didn't work out, cursing and childishness. If you're going to work on used bikes, you've got to handle things better when it goes wrong.
I had to sell my bike and wasn't having luck with finding a serious buyer. Someone turned me on to Dave and the folks at SUB. The process couldn't have been easier - from the very first conversation I felt like I was in the hands of experts. They helped arrange everything, including finding someone to transport the motorcycle from Bellingham, recommending and performing the repairs, pictures and the story behind the bike. It felt like I was in the hands of a concierge service. And they sold the bike for much more money than I could have gotten for it myself. I wish everything felt this easy and supportive. And they were as excited about the whole process as I was.
I can't imagine it going better.
I am very impressed with Seattle Used Bikes. They have been the only shop I've taken my two bikes to, as I have had no reason to go anywhere else. Their prices are very reasonable, their staff are very friendly and informative, and they've always finished the work within one or two days (granted the work I've requested has been rather minimal). Robert, in the service department, is always willing to share his knowledge and opinion on things. I would highly recommend SUB to anyone looking for friendly, fast, and honest, quality service. Well done, guys!
I went through this dealer to sell my motorcycle. The process has been super smooth, I cannot rave enough about them. The staff is very capable that even with the repairs needed and the lost title, they got it done no sweat. I really appreciate them helping me with this and would highly recommend their consignment program.
Got my bike from there. Nice people a lot of nice bikes.
I’ve purchased two motorcycles from them over the past 6 weeks. Traded in the first one for the second. Everything has been super smooth and the staff at SUB couldn’t be more helpful to a new rider. They offer affordable and reliable service to customers and can often take care of things much more quickly than the service department at a dealer.
In particular Chris and Robert have been instrumental in making me comfortable with my recent motorcycle ownership. Choosing to buy a used bike from SUB was by far the best decision I’ve made in awhile.
Thanks SUB!
After going to a number of dealerships in my area, i decided to check out Seattle Used Bikes as they had the motorcycle i was looking for in stock. I texted the number on the posting to make sure that the motorcycle was still available. To my surprise, someone immediately texted back answering all of the questions i asked in my text; keep in mind that it was 9:00PM on a Friday at this point. I went to check out the bike the next morning and Chris was awesome to work with. Extremely welcoming, and super helpful. No pressure at all during the buying process, no dealer mark ups, no prep fees or anything. When Chris pulled out the invoice, the only line items on the invoice were list price, sales tax and license/registration fees. My out the door price at Seattle Used Bikes was 2k less than the same model at a local dealership. I would highly recommend SUB to anyone in the market. Easy buying experience, helpful staff and Chris was awesome. 5/5
As is becoming customary in Seattle, my rear seat cowl was messed up because one of Seattle's upstanding citizens broke into my bike to steal my registration and insurance cards (??).
I called around and Jake at Seattle Used Bikes was the only one who said he could fit me in and take care of it. I brought my bike in the next day, he was able to get the original cowl off safely and put the new one on in no time at all.
Not only was he very careful with the bike, he wouldn't allow me to pay for a simple job, he just asked that I come back and I most certainly will. Everyone in the shop was awesome and I have full confidence in the expertise there.
I look forward to going in again, and hopefully for a fun project and not due to theft. Thanks, Jake!
Had a great experience with the SUB service department (Robert). My KTM 1090 needed an oil change, but I couldn't do it myself because of a stripped head on a skidplate bolt. SUB were the first shop to even agree to take the bike in when I mentioned the bolt. They went on to complete the job, the price was what they estimated upfront, I got an invoice detailing the oil change process (done the way the manual recommends) and got my leftover oil without even having to ask for it. I'll definitely be taking our bikes to SUB for service going forward.
They facilitated the purchase of an 815SP3 for me. I live out of state, I was given their name by Rare Sport Bikes for Sale, I made contact, and they took care of getting the bike, looking it over to make sure it was a good example, and then preparing it for long term indoor display for me. They were extremely professional, knowledgeable, and fair with their pricing. Highly recommend this shop. They went above and beyond for me the very first time I ever worked with them.
Jake and Marty in the service department are beyond generous of their time to a new rider. They were happy to chat about idiosyncracies related to owning a Ducati to help me feel at ease about my bike's behaviours.
In terms of the servicing that was needed, they picked up on a couple items extra that I hadn't noticed (and I had done my research!) and addressed some issues with aftermarket parts that I had ordered.
Brought my bike here for a yearly tune up and the staff here are amazing! Super friendly, very informative and so helpful. They also did a great job getting my bike primed for the summer and was very honest about what work I should get done now and how long I could wait until I need to replace anything. Highly recommended!! Will always bring my bike here from now on for service.
I’m Kevin from India, I’ve been to Seattle 3 times, but I’ve never been to Seattle used bikes. Just by reading the reviews of this place, I am sure that I’ll be a regular customer here! What great reviews, brought me joy just reading it. Chris, I look forward to meeting you someday. God willing, my wife and I may move to Seattle later this year. My dream bike is a Yamaha R1 2012-2014 model, I’d also like to try out a BMW S1000 XR. When I’m there, you’ll be the first person I come to. See you soon Chris. 😊😎
Dave and his crew always take good care of me. Today I stopped by because I had a concern with my rear sprocket. Dave told me to swing by on my way home so they could take a look. Within a minute of my arrival one of the techs stopped what they were doing to take a quick look. Turns out everything was normal with my bike. One of the many reasons I use seattle used bikes whenever I can... everyone there is honest.
Can be slow and unreliable in terms of time spent waiting for Dave to call back or order parts (hi Dave O;-) but they know their stuff and are happy to help you learn about your bike. Good people, good service, good shop. 5 stars.
The crew at Seattle Used Bikes know their stuff and are willing to walk you through the mechanical needs of your bike, whether new or used and abused. They have worked on two of my bikes, including rebuilding my 1991 DR350S two years ago. The work was done right and they always treat me well as a customer.
Just stopped in for a consult and they continue to have a happy customer.
Great place. I stopped by to look at consigning my motorcycle. I talked with the owner and he is a great guy. Found out he runs a Facebook page helping people find their stolen motorcycles. He told me his whole process of consignment. As of right now, he didn't have space for my motorcycle but soon should be moving to a bigger location. I look forward to working with him.
I stopped by today to look at the tasteful motorcycles that kept popping up on my instagram feed. I was impressed by the extensive knowledge and passion of the owner. The approachable and easygoing atmosphere made my experience even more enjoyable. I’ll have to stop by again and check out the eye candy on a regular basis.
I brought in a couple of Vespa's to be sold at the beginning of March, then BOOM!! Lockdown mfers. My wife and I thought our scooters were going to sit in the showroom indefinitely due to the pandemic and all that was happening.
Dave managed to sell both scooters at the original price he quoted one very soon after the other. He was very pleasant to work with and told the whole back story of us as the owners which was cool to read about in the sales write up. I will definitely buy/sell my next bike here.
I was in a bind with a blown fork seal and an upcoming trip, and Robert/Dave/team did me a solid in fitting me in, day of call. Superb customer service, quality work, and a valuable anchor to the Seattle MC community.
Once you get past the owner's hit-or-miss attitude, this is a good little shop. Decent variety of some hard to find Guzzi's and other less common used bikes to check out if you're in for service. They appear a bit overworked during peak season, but still managed a relatively quick turnaround without an appointment.
Can’t say enough good things. I consigned my Ducati with Dave and the team at SUB, they took great care of it and sold it very fast. I’ll be back there to get my next bike.
We bought Ducati Monster from Dave in 2015 (we still have it & we're happy with it). About a week ago, my husband saw SUB's listing for Ducati 916 and I knew he really liked it. So I emailed Dave about the bike, bought it & arranged a surprise delivery for my husband. Dave was very responsive in all email communications & he even went out of his way, delivering it on a Monday when his shop wasn't even opened! Thank you so much Dave for helping me to make the surprise delivery happened! We really appreciate it! ^_^
Beautiful bikes, in a really exceptional dealership, with very friendly, helpful staff.
Thanks S.U.B. for making my buying experience totally hassle free, and thanks for helping me with my beemer!
Consistently great service and a hidden gem. One of the few places I have ever taken my bike where I feel that I trust what they say and they are not trying to over sell you. This place is great because of Dave Roosevelt and the team he has built around him at SUB.
Have dealt with and worked with Dave for years. i own Multiple bikes and do some work myself. Hes always been straight forward and honest with me to the point of calling him a personal friend. I take both of my Ducati(s) to him. They were the only shop in town that would work with me on some machine work on my 998 cylinder heads. Ducati Dealer would only replace parts, and they were the reason I'm rebuilding the engine in the first place. They're timing belts not banjo strings people! Have dealt with Dave for 20 years, will deal with him another 20!
Brought my 20yr old Ducati Monster in today for much needed service. Everyone I met was friendly and helpful. Very pleasant 1st experience
I just dropped a bike off for consignment and it sold in 5 days. I am super happy with the experience and the integrity of the shop. Thanks Dave!
Staff was very nice and informative. Great selection of all kinds of bikes.
Dave (the owner) is extremely helpful and patient. Will definitely be coming here for any future used bike purchases. Very impressed.
What a great group of people. Everyone is friendly and helpful. Seattle's only choice for Euro bike repair.
Great shop with great service! Thanks Chris and Dave.
Bought my first Ducati from Dave in1999 now I'm buying my last ,he always has the best bikes
Cool selection of bikes. Very friendly and helpful. Would definitely go back here for my next one!
Dave helped me sell my motorcycle. It took a while (off-season), but everything went smooth and easy, I didn't have to worry about a thing.
They are woke fam. Get lit with this epic squad. Shake my hips. No millennials crying to daddy. Just men, chicks with clicks and bad ass bikes. Get your lid twisted fam. Don't take that red pill, unless you MF want a Dr. FAIL. You don't want to get mixed up with a guy like me, I'm a loner Dottie, a rebel. 10/10, would Netflix and chill all day son. Boonk Squad! Put your body in a coffin!!! No discover card.
The employees where extremely helpful and knowledgeable and kind even though I did not buy anything.

Great place! They have a lot of really amazing bikes!
These guys are great! Best bike shop in town. Without a doubt.
Some VERY interesting and exotic European bikes, and a very friendly and knowledgeable owner. I'll surely be back.
I'll be going back and hope to purchase a bike that's tucked away at SUBs. Thanks again for your help Dave!
