Saw Alecia today for my first visit to this spa. I had a two hour Swedish massage. She was amazing! She was so skilled that she could tell I had had a shoulder injury that I didn’t even mention, and she was able to give that shoulder extra attention. She was knowledgeable and professional; highly recommend! And Callie at the front desk was friendly and helpful getting me scheduled and helping me choose some fantastic coconut milk bath salts!

I was referred to Mary by a friend of mine. My friend had nothing but good things to say and so I had specifically tried to locate her as she had changed practices. She is now at Zalla Massage and I decided to give it a try. I had never received a massage before in my life. But for the health benefits, I decided to give it a try. Mary is awesome to say the least. She’s very good at what she does and sincerely cares about her clients. She creates a very calm and soothing ambiance that literally makes you forget where you even are. She makes every necessary accommodation in order to ensure your complete comfort and tailors the massage to your specific needs and requests. I don’t believe you could ask for anyone any better.

Went in for a couples massage- much needed after getting caught up in rush hour in an unfamiliar town! We ran a couple of minutes behind because of this but the staff was extremely gracious. Everyone we talked to was friendly and inviting, and the receptionist gave us some ideas for things to do while in town. The studio was very pretty and inviting. I'm a bit sad that we didn't arrive early enough to wait and enjoy the space more! The actual massage was lovely and relaxing. Our masseuses were attentive and good about making sure pressure and other factors were okay. I appreciate my masseuse asking for permission to touch my hair in order to move it out of the way. I would love to return if I find myself in the area again.

Jacqueline is a true professional - she always asks me how my body has been since my last visit, she can tell the condition of my muscles by massage versus me having to tell her, and she knows which muscles to target when there is an issue in an area. I started going to Jacqueline for regular sports massages and then required weekly treatment when I developed severe neck pain. Jacqueline corrected my neck issue within 2 months through deep tissue work and targeting muscles I didn't even know existed or were related to the cause of the neck pain. Zalla massage has provided me a place to go for the utmost professionalism and comfort to receive relief through body tissue work and massage therapy. I recommend Zalla to anyone seeking a high quality, professional massage.

I have been seeing Alesia at Zalla for nearly a year now. I have never had a massage therapist so knowledgeable - she really knows the body, muscles, and how to get to them. Alesia has my lifetime loyalty! I've really seen an incredible change to my body working with her. She's incredible - never skimps on time (a 90 minute massage is 90 minutes!). Plus, Zalla is really a lovely place to go with lovely customer service via text, phone, and in person.

I had a 60 minute Swedish massage with Alesia this week and it was amazing. I haven't had a massage since before the pandemic started, and Alesia was really understanding with the tension and knots that I have. I'll be coming back. Cali welcomed me and handled my check-out and she was also really friendly and professional. The only note I would give a new person who is trying Zalla out: give yourself a few extra minutes for parking. Depending on the traffic and level of business, the parking lot can be a little tricky.

My friend got me a gift certificate here and I had one of the best massages I've ever gotten (and I get a lot of massages)! I'm 32 weeks pregnant so have been achey all over and felt so amazing after the prenatal massage with Holly! She was so attentive and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. She was also helpful in suggesting products (magnesium oil) as I've been having leg cramps during pregnancy. Definitely will be back!

This is my favorite place to get a 100% tailored massage. Jacqueline is so intuitive with my muscles and my aura, that each time I see her, I walk out lighter than a cloud. She pays attention to your problem areas, and applies pressure as much as you can tolerate. She communicates with you on why she's spending more time in XYZ area, and helps you breathe through the process. Seriously life changing massages. I routinely see her every 3 weeks for 1.5hrs, and I can tell the difference in my posture, how much easier my knots come out, and overall mood being changed. Overall, everyone here is kind, the environment is peaceful, clean, and comfortable.

I love Zalla massages!. My wife and I have tried ~15-20 different places in Houston and we keep coming back to Zalla because of the professional and accomplished masseuses and the calming environment. My experience is that each masseuse takes a personal interest - from understanding my focus areas and concerns before the massage, to adjusting mid-massage to deal with something they've found (i.e., it is not a prescribed, "form-letter" massage), to the follow-up of explaining home care to do in between massages. They connect with you vs. just do a job. I really like that!! One other thing I will mention.. Zalla is not a high end massage spa meaning they don't have the sauna, steam room, etc., so their prices are reasonable and very much worth the experience.

My experience at Zalla Massage was excellent from start to finish. The reception staff (Kali is who I spoke with) is INCREDIBLY kind and helpful in scheduling, and explained the Covid safety procedures step by step throughout booking and check in. I was never once confused about where to go or what to do. My massage was EXACTLY what I needed. I’ve been having some tension and back pain, and my massage therapist (Anna) was attentive to the areas that I said I would like her to work on, and a couple of areas that I didn’t even know i needed worked on. She was great at communicating why she was working on those areas and how they relate to my pain, and balanced an openness and authenticity with professionalism beautifully. I felt so comfortable throughout, and scheduled my next appointment at checkout! The space itself is beautiful, clean, and very welcoming.

I've been going here for several years and love it. The booking process is seamless whether you book online or with Kali in reception. My go-to is a 90-minute deep tissue with Anna, and she's fantastic. The only downside is you have to book well in advance because of high demand! I highly recommend.

Scheduled a prenatal massage to sooth my aches and pains. Patricia was my massage therapist and she did a very good job! She focused on areas in which my baby applied pressure (mainly my hips) and afterward my body felt like butter. I purchased love oil, baby massage oil, and nipple butter afterwards. Zalla is a great, personalized experience. One of the best massages I've ever had. The price is good, the location is great, and my therapist Patty is thorough and professional. I have skin allergies, and she is very conscientious and works with me to find oil that is hypoallergenic. The only (slight) drawback is the parking, but that should be alleviated, too, when they move to their new space! Highly recommend.

My experience at Zalla Massage was amazing! I work full time and have a 16 month old son (who is very heavy, and wants to be in mama's arms often). With that being said, my upper and lower body is tight all the time. Han, my masseuse, did a phenomenal job at treating me at the appointment and gave me some great tips to help relieve some of the tightness while I'm away. When I scheduled the apt. the person I spoke to on the phone was also very friendly and helped me select the right masseuse for my massage, so my time with him would be as effective as possible. I loved their facility; it was very original and relaxing. The bedding for the tables are super soft and very comfortable! I would recommend Zalla Massage for your self or for a great gift item for someone who LOVES massages!

The BEST massage EVER!! Also, I love their body wraps! Such a relaxing experience every time I arrive. Very welcoming and personal, I love how much they really care about your health and your needs. When I use to go to other places to get massaged, they would never focus on what I asked them to and they would also hurt me. With zalla massage, all of the therapist there are very well trained and care so much about their clients. I have never once left feeling hurt or like I didn't get what I asked for. First of all, Jessica was amazing! I went in to get my first prenatal massage. I was very nervous at first, but Jessica was very comforting and assured me everything was going to be fine. She gave me the option to lie face down on a mat made specially for pregnant women or gave me the option to lie on my side. She told me the mat had been used for over a year and it was perfectly safe. I was very impressed with her understanding and support. Throughout the massage, she checked my belly to make sure I was in perfect position. Zalla Massage has very caring and compassionate staff members. They are friendly, walk you through the whole process, and always smiling :) When you walk into a massage place, you want to know its going to be relaxing and have a welcoming environment. Thank you for the wonderful service and I will definitely go back for more prenatal massages.

For the longest time I avoided writing a review here (though I so badly wanted to) ONLY bc I was afraid others would see my therapist's name and then she would be even more booked up than she already is! Haha purely selfish reasons but I LOVE this place!! I have received massages from different places all over Houston and this place beats them all- and by FAR! We went there to do a couple’s massage for my birthday and everything was amazing, the therapists Patricia and trezure were so professional and did a great job!! The only downside was that we arrived 20 minutes late for our appointment due to traffic and rain, and they cut short from our time instead of offering another appointment or finding another way to compensate 😅!! I would expect such a place to be more prepared to handle these types of situations better, specially that it’s on the pricier side.

I can't say enough good things about Zalla Massage. My husband and I recently went in for a couples massage and will definitely be returning. Zach was hands down the best massage therapist I have ever had. I left feeling like a noodle, which is exactly how I want to feel leaving a massage but rarely do! My husband had great things to say about Linda. Scheduling way easy and fast. My only complaint was the noise in the hallway during the massage -- but I was told that they will be moving soon which will hopefully alleviate that problem. All in all, best massage experience I've had in Houston. I will be a long term customer!

Got couples massages this past Saturday with my boyfriend and it was amazing! My boyfriend had Patty and I had Keiara. It was his first time and he was a bit skeptical on if the massage would do anything for him but Patty had him speechless after the massage! I get massages monthly and this was one of the best massages I’ve ever had! I went in because my back had gone into spasm a couple of days before and left a radiating pain through my neck. Unfortunately I did not write a review right away but I want to highlight Jennifer- I’m pretty sure that’s her name. She really knows her stuff!!! I got an hour massage but wished I would have done a 90 minute. The massage was relaxing, yet firm and super thorough. I left feeling SO much better and had far better mobility than I did when I came in. When I’m back in the Houston area I will be returning!

Zalla is fine for an average massage. The facility is welcoming and the staff professional at both the front desk and in the treatment rooms. That being said, as an individual experienced in this area having received massages around the globe, these folks are good but not great. Even when I specifically described the best way to manage a problem, the therapist chose her own route that was not as effective. I went here twice and neither massage was among the top 50% of those I have received in my life. It's fine, but very pricey for what you get. Many better options in Houston.

This place is very good! My wife has had some pain in her upper back and she feels much better after her massage. We were treated very well, the atmosphere is very calm and soothing, and (per my wife) Gina knew exactly what she was doing. She even gave us some helpful tips at the end to alleviate tension in the muscles. We will definitely continue business with Zalla.

Gina was excellent even for a bulky guy like myself who wants a deep massage, and my girlfriend says Keiara was perfect for her. Recently got a membership in November and both times I've gone my massages have been wonderful. The front desk staff is polite and kind and the house this space is in is so peaceful and relaxing. I always feel like a Goddess walking out of here. My first massage was with Astrid, she was professional and I got exactly what I asked for in a massage. I need deep tissue work done since I lift heavy weights and practice yoga on a daily basis, my muscle get tense and she did a great job at soothing out my muscles. I had my first massage from Zalla today and I absolutely loved it! I have a bad back due to genetics or work or stress or something, so I signed up to get a 2 hour deep tissue massage. I was a little nervous to have a deep tissue massage for that long but it turned out to be amazing! My masseuse was Jessica and she was great. She asked me where my problem areas were and what I wanted her to focus on beforehand. Worth every dollar spent. I left feeling so relaxed and I could actually stand up straight without having lower back pain. I highly recommend anyone going there. I definitely plan on making my next appointment soon!! :) I think we may try the couples massage next!

My husband surprised me with a 100 minute massage with Linda at Zalla Massage. It was probably the best massage I've ever had and I've had a few really good ones. I asked Linda to spend more time focusing on my neck and shoulders but asked her to incorporate full body massage into the session as well. She used techniques I hadn't experienced before to stretch my neck and shoulders and it was very effective. Linda did an amazing job and she definitely is very knowledgeable about the body and massage as well as very experienced. I would highly recommend her. I left feeling soo much better and relaxed and with another appointment for the following month. This next appointment is with Jessica since Linda wasn't available but I'm looking forward to it. I had an outstanding massage from Han at Zalla Massage and will return in the near future. He used the exact amount of pressure to help me loosen problem areas from running and lifting but also helped me relax. He even showed me some stretches I have utilized to improve my flexibility. The massage at Zalla was excellent! I am a very physically active person so deep tissue massages is usually what I request. After my 1 hour massage, I felt like a new person! It was a very deep tissue massage with emphasis on tissue release. It was very thorough and the she was very professional. The staff was very helpful with any questions I had about scheduling or about the massage in general. I would highly recommend anyone going to get massage treatments here, especially if you are a physically active person.

They've done a great job during COVID of being flexible, adopting a new text-based system for appointments, and using the best safety practices possible. I feel safe and comfortable when I go. Plus, the old house they're based in is very cool.

I visited Zalla several years ago after I got an online deal for an 80 minute massage. It was the best massage I had ever received. Fast forward to now, I visited her new location this past Sunday. The new facility is very nice, though parking could be a slight hassle. Upon entering, you are met by the Zalla and led to an impressive waiting area. I was greeted by Jessica after a very short wait and taken to the massage room, which was very comfortable. The massage itself was very relaxing. I felt months of tension just melt away. Jessica did wonders on my back, arms, shoulders, and head. The 80 minutes went by much too quickly. I plan on joining Zalla's new monthly membership program. She offers some pretty nice discounts, be sure to check it out. I have been to other masseuses, but Zalla and her team are the best in the city. Take a visit, she will not disappoint.

I had my 100 minute massage this past weekend with Jessica and it was amazing. Pressure was perfect and she really worked on the trouble areas in my shoulders and neck. I've just started training for the MS 150 in April so this will be part of my routine for the next few months!

The house is quaint - and with the separate entrance for the massage salon, it is a nice change to the massage centers in strip centers located in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The staff is very courteous and accommodating. I loved the hot stones and towels as a part of the massage - rather than an upgrade and my therapist was happy to work in stretches as a part of my massage at my request. I love Zalla Massage!! I have tried multiple spas and massage therapists, but since I found Zalla, I will only get a massage from Linda! Their tables are heated and the sheets are extremely soft. Additionally, the venue is always clean and the staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. Recently, I had a massage scheduled but had to unexpectedly go out of town a day prior to my massage. When I called, they cancelled my appointment without any "huffing and puffing" about the short notice. Another thing, if you are nervous about leaving a voice mail, don't be. The first hour Patricia concentrated on a complete body massage and the extra 20 minutes she focused on specific areas where I was extremely tight. I did discover that Patricia was skilled in other massage modalities such as energy work, Reiki, prenatal, and a Hawaiian form of massage. I've been here 2x now, and both experiences were great. The first time was a couples massage about a year ago and we had Linda and Brenda working on us . I happened to, unfortunately, get into a car-bike accident (with me on the bike) several month before my appointment. I noted prior to my massage that I was really tight and experiencing some discomfort in certain positions/movements in and around my knee that was not yet diagnosed. Whoever was massaging me (I can't recall whether it was Linda or Brenda, just that she was the older of the two) was very attentive to my body and noticed immediately, without much probing, exactly where the issues was and, thankfully, avoided the area. Most recently I saw Han for another 1.5 hr swedish massage. He worked extensively on the areas I noted I had issues and on areas that I didn't even realize I had knots until he got to it. He talked to me about what he observed physically, which I always appreciate. I enjoy massages for it's healing, body-restoring abilities. I find it relaxing to be worked on (I even sometimes imagine the therapist digging under my skin and grabbing that knot out), not simply to be rubbed on. I've found that Zalla gives me just that. (Writing this on behalf of my loving wife, Jihee) I found the Zalla Massage for shoulder and back pains I suffered during the pregnancy mainly for the good reviews and high rating. Cozy ambiance and calming music relaxed me and staffs were extremely nice. Each masseuses has his/her different massage style, but everyone has one in common: They are professionals. I was very happy to see a heated massage table because I hate being cold. More than that I was very impressed to see my masseuse remembered that I hate cold table, and heated up more than usual for my second visit. I was so satisfied that I continued purchasing 120-min massage series even after pregnancy. And I went back to my parent's place for three months and I was really looking forward to get a massage from Zalla massage when I came back home. I love this place, I love Holly and Jackie. I went to Zalla needing some serious help with deep knots that I'd received from working out, stress, etc. I was assigned Hon as a therapist because he was listed as having the skills to get really deep into the problem areas. I could tell right away that he was experienced because his hands had that rough, "working man" feel that some people associate with blue collar work. To me it meant that I had someone who'd been doing massage for a while, not just a person off the street. (Yes, I have had that type of massage at a chain store) In less time than I would have believed, Hon worked out the knots completely. Also, he incorporated some stretching into the process, which I had never experienced before. In short, I got exactly what I needed and more. That means I'll be going back. As an observer, the ambiance and smell of the Zalla facility works well to put someone in the relaxed state of mind needed to fully embrace a massage. They are very professional, starting from the time that you walk in until you leave. I would recommend that you give Zalla a try because they seem to have something for everyone. I don't know that for sure, but after several hundred massages in my life I've learned to make accurate assessments fairly quickly. I'm going for a second time and if I like it as I expect to, I'll be joining the membership program.

Zalla Massage had been recommended to me a few months ago so when I saw a deal on AmazonLocal for an 80 minute massage, I bought it right away. Sometimes when you buy massages/facials through bargain sites, you get treated like a "lesser" client by the front desk and staff, but that was not the case here. Booking an appointment time was easy, the front desk was great to work with both on check-in and check-out, and my appointment started on time. Jessica was my therapist for this visit, and she was awesome! I carry all of my stress in my shoulders, and she did a great job working out the kinks. Some massage therapists I have been to seem to be following a routine as they work and they don't necessarily deviate from it in order to address a clients specific issues, this was not the case with Jessica. One side of my body needed a bit more work than the other and she definitely focused in on where extra attention was necessary. My only complaint was the parking, but I wasn't expecting it to be great due to the location. There is a small lot in front of the building so you don't have to find street parking, but it can be a bit tricky to get out of if it's full. Overall, I was very pleased and will be back to see Jessica again. 2nd Visit: Last week I went back for my second massage with Jessica this year. This time I'm six months pregnant, and I was hoping that she would give me as good of a prenatal massage as she did a deep tissue massage this summer. She did! First, I was pleasantly surprised to find that instead of having to lie on my side for the massage as with most prenatal massages, the studio has special pillows that can prop you up so that you can lay face down. The massage itself was wonderful - the same deep pressure I had enjoyed the previous time. Also, we started a few minutes late, and when I checked my phone at the end, I discovered I still got the full amount of time. This made me extra happy as I had recently been shortchanged by a massage therapist at a different place. I will definitely be coming back at least one more time before the end of my pregnancy.

I know everybody's body and lifestyle is a bit different so let me tell you about mine (that way you can judge based on my lifestyle and experience if this would be right for you). I love this place. I have had a couple therapists here and they've all been great, but now that I've discovered Mary I'm sure I'll be sticking with her! I have (or should I say, had, before I started going here regularly) extremely tight muscles but Mary has no trouble getting through to them and staying deep for my entire 90 minute sessions. It's obvious that she is really knowledgable about the body and she's recommended stretches and other techniques to improve my situation. The place is really cute and seems kind of spa-like even though they offer high quality therapeutic massages. It is a bit expensive- but so is every place in the area! If you get a membership the prices come down to what I was used to when living in different cities, and they don't really require any commitment so if you're into monthly massages (you should be) there's no reason not to sign up after you enjoy first massage (and they'll give you the membership price for the first one when you do).

Han and Danielle did a great job at loosening everything and making sure you transform yourself and body after treatment. They then inform you of how to best recover and have lasting results. Administratives: I had not gotten a massage in a few years, and since Groupon was running a deal on Zalla (which has fantastic reviews on Yelp), I went ahead and bought a 100-minute treat for myself. Similar to most office bees, I have tension in my back and shoulders, so I cannot speak to more severe issues. Since Groupon holders had to call to schedule an appointment, I called and left a message twice before the owner Zalla called back. It is understandable since it is a smaller operation. Zalla was kind enough to call me twice to tell me there were appointments available prior to the one I booked since I asked to be on their wait list. Also, I appreciated the text and email reminders since the appointment was made pretty far in advance. Pre-massage: When I first walked into the building, I was taken aback by how it appeared to be an office building in the upscale River Oaks shopping plaza. The office/massage room looked clean and well-kept though. My masseuse, Linda, greeted me at the counter as I walked in the office space and handed me some routine paperwork to fill out. When I asked to borrow the restroom, it was to my surprise to find that the entire floor share a public bathroom by the stairwell - which, though inconvenient, is okay pre-massage, but might become kind of embarrassing post-massage when my hair and makeup are all messed up. The massage: The massage itself was very soothing and relaxing - I think I *may have* dozed off at one point. Linda explained what to expect before she left the room to let me undress, which was helpful to ease my nerves since, as mentioned above, I have not had a massage in years. At one point during the session, however, some people were chatting in the hallway outside the offices. Although they probably used their "inside" voice, it still interrupted the session somewhat, and Linda had turn up the spa music to drown the chattering out. Conclusion: Overall, the experience was pleasant, and I am excited that Zalla is moving to a new, hopefully more private, location in December. I have already booked my next session after the holidays, and I am very much looking forward to it!

Place was great, parking lot, not so much, but they do have street parking for those that drive cars that sit low to the ground. I asked for a gift certificate to Zalla for my birthday, having seen their reviews on Yelp. My job demands 12-14 hour days, and most of those hours are spent on my feet. As a result, I have a lot of tension in my neck, back, and shoulders (and that's on top of the stress). Jessica was my masseuse, and her skill, expertise and attention to detail made for the best massage I've ever had - hands down. I left feeling relaxed, rejuvenated and substantially less tense/in pain than I'd been in months. Additionally, Jessica was thoughtful, attentive to my requests (I had recently undergone surgery) and gave me some great advice about stretching and care for my back. Although I originally had no plans to book another appointment (the first was a birthday gift, and my budget really doesn't permit...), I am looking forward to another massage with Jessica tomorrow morning. Another Zalla perk is that they offer great deals - discounts for next-appointment booking, online reviews and (currently) booking with one of their new masseuses. I highly recommend Jessica!

I was able to lay on my stomach with a special pillow which was even better! Another massage place does not offer that at all. The pressure was perfect. I loved the hot towels afterwards also. We took advantage of a Couple's Massage deal that was being offered by (now closed) Bloomspot. At first, the location was a bit off-putting, it's upstairs in a strip center. Once you're eyes are closed and the music is on you straight to relaxation mode. Last month we moved away from the area so Zalla is no longer right around the corner, definitely a bummer. We had a wonderful experience. It was my husbands first massage and he's already talking about when the next one will be! I went to Zalla’s with a Groupon for the very first time over a year ago. Linda was my masseuse at the time and I really wanted to go back to her, but time constraints and their location at the time, did not permit. A few weeks ago I found another Groupon for Zalla’s and called to schedule an appointment. Linda was no longer there, but I had already purchased the Groupon, so just left it to chance. My appointment was with Brenda and, I must say, she is an amazing masseuse. Strong hands and really knows what she’s doing. I asked that just my neck and shoulders be massaged and leave the rest alone but Brenda explained to me why I was shortchanging myself and why having a full body massage would be more beneficial, especially with all of my back issues. Well, let me tell you….she was absolutely right. I’ve had more flexibility and feel a lot better than I ever have after any massage before. Today was my second time going to Brenda at their new location and my GPS misdirected me and I got lost. I was still trying to find it when Zalla’s called me to remind me about my appointment. I explained that I was lost and told them where I was. They talked me in, staying on the phone with me until I got there. How special is that?! Even though I was late, I still got the full 100 minutes that I had scheduled, which amazed me! This is the first time in a very long time that I have made a second appointment with the same masseuse. Brenda was so great the first time I went, I just had to go again. And, I made another appointment for next week. The discount opportunities certainly make it enticing and I’m very pleased with the level of service that they provide. Other places may give you just a “fluff and buff”, as Brenda called it, but the massages at Zalla’s go far beyond that and are excellent!

Since my first prenatal massage at about 16 weeks, I've tried to get one consistently every month or so, and recently, in my third trimester, every two weeks. Jessica makes me feel incredibly comfortable and relaxed, and is familiar with my preferences--from aromatherapy (I feel elated, but calm, when I sniff orange oil anywhere now) to where my trouble spots are and how my body has changed. She's well-versed in how the muscles function, and especially, how the pregnant body disperses weight; she works on the front of the body as diligently as the back--which makes sense, because our entire days are spent hunched forward. I come away feeling like a brand new person. I especially like that she uses professional prenatal massage props that let me lie belly-down and hot stones, sometimes, if I need them. She also takes the time to hot towel my feet after a rub down to ensure I don't go home sliding around in my shoes (and possibly hurt myself).

I have tried a few different places out for a massage but have never enjoyed one anywhere near as much as the one at Zalla. I am writing this review on behalf of my wife, as I wasn't there to experience it. I bought her a 40 minute prenatal massage as an early bday gift, which she upgraded to an 80 minute massage. She was 35 weeks pregnant when she went in. It must have been wonderful because she raved about it for two or three days afterwards. I believe she was on her side for most of it, as she was a little uncomfortable on her stomach. It seemed to relieve a lot of her lower back pain and soreness that she's experienced during her pregnancy. I just wish we had done this a few more times throughout. I think we would both highly recommend Zalla Massage for any prenatal massage needs.

I had an Amazon Local deal. I've been looking for a new massage therapist for a bit and this place had good reviews. Booking was seamless and easy. The place is a little tricky to find, in a weird way. When you're travelling down Waugh and are at the light at Grey, One street forks to the right and (Waugh?) splits to the left, Zalla is on that tiny triangle 'island' between the splitting roads. My GPS kept having me turn right on Haddon, but I should have turned left. Anyway, once I found it, I was pleased with the way it looked. The waiting area was nice too. The questionnaire they had you fill out was very detailed and made it seem like they would really take into consideration what you wanted. My massage room was upstairs and I had to duck to get under the door frame and also could only stand up staight in the very center of the room. I'm 5'10", so tall but not outrageously so. Didn't really care for that. I wanted a deep tissue massage. My massage therapist told me he likes to give firm pressure but doesn't like to cause pain. I'm used to DEEEEP pressure as I have chronic muscle tension (noted in my form). I kept waiting for the pressure to increase (as I know most massages start out a little softer/slower), but it never really did. The pressure was only slightly more than a Swedish. He also seemed to gloss over any knots he found instead of working on the knots, and an 80 min massage is plenty of time to work out kinks. Not a very effective deep tissue massage at all, BUT it was relaxing and felt good.

Beginning in my second trimester of pregnancy, I scheduled biweekly prenatal massages with Zalla who I explicitly sought out, as she has been specially trained in pre and post natal massage (as well as infant massage for when your little one is born). Not only did these sessions help to ease my aches and pains, I also felt more relaxed and my baby was positioned nicely for birth when the time came (as prenatal massage prepares the baby to be positioned in the center of your stomach, rather than on the right or left sides of the rib cage). My husband has also seen others in Zalla's practice for swedish massage and he says they are amongst the best therapists he's ever encountered.

My husband purchased a pregnancy massage for me last month and WOW - so amazing! The waiting area was nice and clean and it was cold - which was WONDERFUL when you're 7mths pregnant in the middle of June! Nice fruit infused water to sip on while you wait. Jessica was my therapist and I think my massage was 1.5hrs long. She explained that I could either lie down on my side, or I could lie stomach down using this nifty pillow contraption that has crevices for your growing belly (and breasts)! DONE! 1.5hrs breezed by and I was in heaven. Did I mention that aromatherapy and the occasional use of hot stones is COMPLIMENTARY???? WHAT?!?!??!! DONE AND DONE! Definitely worth whatever he paid!! hahahha!

Han is absolutely AMAZING! It has taken over 10 years and endless massages to find someone who is as in tune with the body and is as willing to put in the energy and pressure that I need (it scares most people when they realize how much pressure I can take - one masseuse called me "the hulk"). When I was in my teens I had a friend try to "pop" my back - instead he placed his hand on my spine and ended up pushing a vertebrae out of place. I have gone through years at the mercy of chiropractors and masseuses - and although the chiropractor helped he did not get nearly as aggressive as Han nor did the previous massages come close in comparison. Han is able to find the areas that I didn't even realize were an issue and without me saying a word he tunes right into those areas. He is incredibly receptive and over all hands down the best masseuse I have ever been to... WOW. UPDATE: Most recently I was in a car accident. I was hit on the back side rear and it jolted my back. I didn't realize it until later that evening - but it got to the point where I couldn't breathe in deep or put on a seat belt without being in tears. I literally stopped a sneeze after the Ah and during the Choo it was so painful. I went to Han and although the massage had its "Ooh - Ow" moments (per my request) he managed to get me to a point where I could move. That night I ached but I could tell there was a huge difference. The next morning, minus a bit of soreness, I was human again and able to move my arms without cringing due to sharp excruciating pains stemming from my spine through my rib cage. I trust Han fully and completely. He reads the body and is very very in tune with ever fiber. If you ever truly need to be rescued from aches, pains, tightness, etc... He will save your life. Trust me!
