Had a terrific experience with these guys. They are in the neighborhood in Mount Pleasant. They trouble-shot our old front door handle, and they realigned the bolt lock so that both things would close more easily. They came exactly when I asked and were done within 1.5 hours or so. Also very nice! Highly recommend them.

UPCO Locksmith DC was wonderful! They replaced my old deadbolt with a larger one, which required them to cut into my steel door. I called them on a Thursday and they fit me in the very next day. They were quick, efficient, and very courteous/conscious of my home and property. They helped me move furniture out of the way and laid a drop cloth on the floor, then swept up when they were done. They even took the time to help me get familiar with my new deadbolt and made a recommendation on a new door handle. The service took less time than expected, so they charged me less than originally quoted. Thank you so much, gentlemen!

We just moved into a condo in the City. We were shocked to learn we had a total of 6 keys to the various doors/locks in our place. Marcelo came in and very quickly figured out how he could easily reduce those 6 keys to a single key! He proceeded to work and was done in under an hour. Voila! Now it takes only 1 key for our place. Amazing. Fast and very friendly. I was sent to UPCO by staff at ACE, since UPCO had the type of key I needed (ACE has a limited variety, supply). Just moved into a new house and needed 4 locks rekeyed. Marcello asked for pictures of all locks inside and out and from that gave me a quote for the work. We scheduled a day and time and he called before to make sure I was available. He showed up on time and worked for several hours reprogramming an electronic front lock, attempting to install a second electronic lock that turned out to be faulty, rekeying all locks down to 2 keys from 4, and went the extra mile (in the dark) to fix my gates which were very hard to lock/unlock. He was very communicative and always asked before moving to the next lock. Removed shoes and very professional. To top it off, he charged me less than his original estimate! I was stunned. When I get the second electronic lock replaced I know who to call to install it. UPCO has my business for life!

Amazing! I was locked out of my condo and called UpCo because they are not far from Cleveland Park. I thought it was pretty brilliant that they asked me to send them a picture of the lock when I called for an estimate. They said they could give me a more accurate range of the total cost that way. Honestly can't recommend these guys enough. I had to replace all the locks in my building -- something that could have been a very expensive endeavor. The service tech recommended a retooling of the locks, which ended up being way less costly. On top of that, the service techs gave me a two hour window in which they would arrive & actually showed up on the EARLIER side of that window. Just awesome overall.

My contractor broke the key in the lock of my front door. We urgently needed a locksmith. UPCO picked the phone right up when I called, was polite, and was able to service us within the hour. We are an investment firm so it was important to have her be able to communicate with our trade-partener on site, instead of us being there ourselves. She worked with us on this. My key broke off in the lock, and it was sticking out so anybody could've taken pliers and just opened my door by twisting the protruding key shard. I called UPCO and explained the situation. They were out in only 20 minutes, and took care of everything in another 10 minutes. Very professional and reasonably priced. What I was most impressed with was the speed. Definitely will be calling on them again for any urgent issues.

I had taken some keys to home depot to get copies made and they weren't your standard looking keys. The home depot guys had no idea what to do. I looked up UPCO and they said they could help me. And they did! Their service is quick, and they're very nice. They had an older key maker that worked better than the machines you find at other places, and the expertise to know how to copy my strange keys. 50 years of experience beats the new tech any day.

I needed to make a copy of a key for my apartment and UPCO was EXTREMELY helpful. I called all over town and even visited Home Depot and Walmart and was told that no one could make a copy of this specific type of key. I contacted UPCO and they agreed to stayed open an hour late so I could come by their shop after work. When I arrived the staff was very friendly and able to find a match for my key. I left the shop with a key copy at NO CHARGE. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for great customer service and someone who can get the job done.

Upco is simply the best! I've been locked out before and had a bad experience with another DC company that charged me an exorbitant amount of money and drilled and ruined our lock in the process. I made the mistake then of not asking for a full-price estimate (a $50 service call turned into a $300 job). With Upco, I didn't even need to ask - they told me up front what the charge would be, which was very reasonable, and they were true to their word. Not only that, they also picked my lock open - saving me the cost of buying a new lock. I would definitely recommend Upco for their prompt and thorough service.

After a theft at my office, I worried that they'd somehow figure out that the keys they stole went to this house. I'm probably being paranoid since my home address wasn't anywhere near the thieves' action, but whatever. They got my keys, so I still wanted the locks changed. My first stop was True Value on 17th, because they're knowledgeable and I thought they might recommend a good locksmith. I could have just used Yelp, Angie's List, or Google, but I wanted a seasoned referral. Don't hate me, but I often think five-star reviews by themselves can be untrustworthy (although the low reviews can tell you a lot...). Anyway, they recommended this place, and I called. The first piece of good news was that he wanted to come that day. Seriously. He was ready to drop everything and be there by 6! But I had to go out that evening, so that wouldn't work, and besides, I was pretty sure the key thieves had no idea (yet) where I lived. They'd have to see me go home first, and I didn't go home on Friday after they hit my office. So I felt temporarily okay and made an appointment for first thing Monday morning. He showed up as scheduled, re-keyed two locks better than new, and went on his way. That plus the reasonable bill (not exactly cheap, but not a ripoff and no rush fee) would have been enough to get a good review, but what happened next is why I'm going to write three reviews: here, on Yelp, and on Facebook. I screwed up and forgot to have him re-key the back door lock. D'oh! How could I forget? He had checked it for something else, but I forgot to say "Please re-key this one, too." So, red-faced, I texted him later and asked him to come back. I fully expected to pay another fee. However, he came back out for free. I repeat. He. Came. Back. Out. For. Free. Okay, so now that bill went from "not exactly cheap" to "bargain."

Upco is easily one of the most skilled locksmith companies in town. They make their job look easy, and their rates are excellent compared to others in DC. As someone who works in property management, I can say that I've seen my fair share of locksmiths that overcharge (even though they advertise very low service call fees) and do poor work.
