And I would up having to take it to a dealer to fix whatever weird programming they did to my car. My experience with Mr. Locksmith was smooth and efficient. I was contacted very quickly after requesting a service call from their website and the appointment set up was easy. On the day of the appointment, they called to confirm the time and were even able to come by a bit earlier, which worked out very well. The locksmith was experienced and could answer all my questions. He was even able to change a tricky door lock for which we couldn't find the key. When I found myself unable to remove my key from my front door, I thought my night was ruined. In a fervor, I called a number for a local locksmith. I was transferred to a call center somewhere, speaking to a man whose name I never learned. He inquired as to my problem, and I explained the issue. I had lost my house key earlier that week, and I took one of my roomate's to a mechanical kiosk that cut me a new key. I chose a design which had a bottle opening shape at the base of the key. When I got home, I successfully unlocked the door, but the key wouldnt come out. So, then, I was in touch with Ron, who came post-haste to my rescue. I thought he was going to chide my bottle opener shape decision, but instead he thought it was cool. The work was quick and efficient, and my night was saved.

Mr. Locksmith DC replaced our front door lock and deadbolt within less than 30 minutes of arriving at our home. He also opened a safe for us (battery died and we didn't have the override key). He arrived on time, was professional, and completed the job within less than hour. He kept me informed regarding the estimated price and let me know when a more expensive option was needed. After our bad experience with another locksmith (see below), it was great to have resolution of our security concerns in less than an hour. I highly recommend Mr. Locksmith DC. We especially appreciated Mr. Locksmith DC because he was the second locksmith we reached out to. The other guy (Doc's Locksmith Service) took an hour of our time and didn't accomplish anything other than talking a lot (couldn't even open the safe). He took our deadbolt and key to find replacement parts and left us in that situation without a secure front door. He finally returned the parts but then said he lost our key. Instead of handing me back the deadbolt components, he insisted on putting it back on the door. He used different screws than the original ones (I guess he lost those too) and made the holes in our fireproof door bigger. He rambled some more and took another half hour of our time. In that rambling, he admitted he didn't know how to fix our door. I will say that at least Doc didn't charge us for his visits where our problems were not resolved. But after all that, we were especially glad for the professional, high quality work of Mr. Locksmith DC! We highly recommend this company.

A lock on one of my outside doors wouldn't lock, and I called Mr. Locksmith on 3/1/18 to have it fixed or replaced. Although I emphasized that it was not an emergency, they were able to send a technician the same day. I asked how much it would cost, and was told it would be $29 for the call, and the cost for the work could only be determined later, which seemed reasonable. The technician, Richard, was pleasant and professional. He told me it was a complex, 3-point lock with a deadbolt, but it could be repaired, and he did repair it, which took approximately 30-40 minutes from start to finish. He then said he needed to text details to the office to find out what the price would be. After doing so, he told me the charge would be $449 plus the $29, for a total of $478. I was shocked at the price, but since the work had already been done, I paid it. When I noted how short a time it had taken, he told me locksmiths are not paid by the hour, because it is a skilled trade. I found this odd, because my experience with skilled repairmen in the past has been that they charge by the hour. In short, I think the price was really, really excessive, and I feel taken advantage of. I was initially happy with the work, but in the couple of weeks since then the door handle has drooped to the point where, unless it is locked, the door can be pushed open without touching the handle -- one of the initial problems that caused me to call the locksmith. I am very disappointed. UPDATE: When Leo at Mr. Locksmith saw my review, he contacted me to say that there had been a misunderstanding, and that he wanted to correct it because he did not want me to be an unsatisfied customer. We agreed on a refund of half the amount I had paid, and he has mailed me a check for that amount. I also found a way to keep the lever handle from flopping down.

I ordered new locks online and had tons of problems with delivery and locks that were broken when they arrived, but Ron was beyond patient.
