The best lock shop in NM, it's nice to see a real lock shop still exists with customer service and fair prices. They are always up for a challenge, I'm usually restoring something old and rare that has locks and they have been able to help. I have used this shop for over 25 years as a contractor from rekey, to new locks, to service where they have come to my job site and knocked out the locks. Always money well spent you know it's going to be correct and your locks functional. The best thing about the store is you still see Bill walking around helping customers and his staff.

Bill's is great! They are actually staffed really well, unlike so many places these days. The store is clean and well organized. Wait time to be helped approaches zero. Two weeks ago they had a minor issue while replacing my fob battery and didn't charge me. Today they helped me out again. I really appreciate their excellent customer service and I'll be back!

Friendly, fast, quality of work is excellent. I needed a spare car proximity keyless entry/ignition programmed and cut. The staff were knowledgeable, fast, friendly, and the quality of the work was excellent. I've used Bill's Lock & Key before for spare house keys (our house is a bit older, and the key blank is difficult to find at big box stores), and I'm so happy that they also do automotive work. Don't go to the auto dealers for spare keys (including the modern electronic keys)--check out Bill's first!

Over the years I've always depended upon Bill's Lock & Key to provide services to my home. They always came through and this last service call was over the top TERRIFIC! The service I needed turned out to be minimal and the tech didn't even charge me for the routine service call fee! Even after spending about 40 minutes at my home. What? I will never recommend another locksmith in general. Hands down, ten toes down the most helpful locksmiths ever!!!!! I had a tailgate that couldn't unlock and I was in disarray as I was in a blizzard on my way to Denver and couldn't get into my truck bed. I was soo stressed thinking I was gonna pay a fortune to get my tailgate locking mechanism fixed. I was soo shocked at what they wanted to charge me that I paid extra!! 10 stars, 50 stars. Super knowalageable staff.Had a key Jammed in lock cylinder of Kia.l was going to buy a new lock cylinder for $262 and would've had two separate keys for door and ignition.They gave me a bit of advice telling how to remove cylinder and rebuilt it for a fraction of price of new parts! I went in to get keys done and one set was troublesome. They made me 2 different keys to try and said if I test them and one works then I can come back and pay for it. Sure enough, only 1 of those 2 worked so I'll be going back to pay and get an extra copy. They were busy non stop but they all seemed like a good bunch of guys!

Turns out address of lock out was 100 miles away from the (mistaken) appointment location. Magdalena NM not Magdalena St in Albuquerque. But Bill's Chris & Co duly went 3 to 4 hrs RT out of their way to re key our pick up truck at no extra costs. Truly remarkable - not even mentioning superior quality work. I always get my keys cut on the big key blank with "Do Not Duplicate" stamped in them. This time they just cut on the quickest blank. Employee reeked of cigarettes. Not that helpful or friendly.

As far as making physical keys these guys are tops. I needed a couple duplicates for an old dead bolt lock on my grandparent's cottage, built in 1928. I remember this lock in the 60's, but it could be original to the cottage. Lock Smiths (well Lowes, maybe someone else) I went too early had no any idea. I took procession of my little brother's 1963 Hillman Convertible (my last name is Hillman, but as far I know I am not related to the Hillman bolt and nut manufacturer), this is an older English manufacturer. Bill's was able to make duplicates of both the ignition and trunk keys. But see my next review below.

The best key copy experience I’ve ever had, ever! I had a few uniquely shaped keys I needed cut and I tried visiting a few places in Albuquerque where I was told the cuts probably couldn’t be done. I wasn’t hopeful that I’d be able to use these. When I walked into this place, they completed my cuts within MINUTES. I was in and out in about 5 minutes. I couldn’t believe it! I am so stoked! A tale of 6 contacts -- Yesterday I unpleasantly found the key would not turn when I inserted it into the ignition, unlike many thousands of times before (my car has almost 200,000 miles on it). It took longer than it should have for me to realize I had a problem with the ignition side of the key and lock mechanism that protects my vehicle (although the key itself is quite worn). I got a referral to Bill's Lock and Key. The 1st individual I spoke to told me that there was a history with Honda vehicles having this problem. At first, he said it would be necessary to bring the whole vehicle (i.e. tow the vehicle to their physical location, since there is absolutely no way to start the vehicle). But a few minutes later, for whatever reason, he told me to bring the key and the spare service key (a mechanical blank that will not start the vehicle) and that they should be able to construct another one for me if I got there before 4pm. This led me to trouble my wife to pick me up and unnecessarily drive the key shop. Standing there, I was ignored for quite a long time, everyone seemed busy, and the walls were covered with more keys than I thought could exist in the state of New Mexico. The 2nd individual I spoke to said there was absolutely no way to make the key and that I would need to have the vehicle towed so they could program it and ergo a wasted trip. He did comment that the application of WD-40 lubricant through a straw into the ignition mechanism would sometimes work to restore operation, leading me to make a frustrating side trip to buy WD-40. After an unnecessarily long time from the point of discovery, I am finally back in my vehicle spraying WD-40 to no avail. After more than an hour from the moment of discovery, I finally concluded I must have the vehicle towed and contacted my insurance company and after about 2 more hours my vehicle is finally towed. But at this point I realized nobody knows who I am but that there's a vehicle sitting at their place waiting to be fixed. Even though it's after hours, I called the phone number expecting to leave a voicemail but someone answered. This 3rd individual I spoke to politely took all of my information. The next day shortly after 8 AM I called to check in to see what was going on. The 4th individual I spoke to confirmed my vehicle was there, and then handed me off to a 5th person (a technician). This young lady was far and away the most helpful of the whole lot. She seemed to know exactly what the problem was, how long it would take to fix, how much it would cost, and assured me that this was an all too common problem that they had with Honda's (saying they get 1 to 2 every week with this exact same problem). It was this 5th individual that for the first time in this odyssey gave me comfort that I was really being taken care of. She did call me and leave a message while I was on a conference call that my car was fixed and ready to pick up. A 6th individual greeted me right away when I walked in, was very polite, and contact #5 took me back to my vehicle and said she hoped I got another 200,000 miles benefit from this repair. Everything was exactly as she had told me, and the car keys turned like new. I was very satisfied by this roving experience with Bill's Lock and Key. Averaged out, my variations and experience across the 6 individuals would probably have led me to score this as a 3-star experience. But contact #5 redeemed all of the other bad parts of my experience. She deserves a raise and a promotion and I just wished everyone that I encountered was half as decent and knowledgeable.

My wife a I needed a copy made of one of our car keys. We called the dealership first for a price and they were going to charge over $200. My wife went down here and they only charges her $120 which is much better than what the dealership was going to charge. My wife said that the people here were very kind and helpful. They thankfully had the key we wanted in stock and were able to get the key made in about ten minutes. They did an awesome and we will definitely go back to them in the future for any other lock and key needs.

We thought we needed to re-key my truck's tailgate, but after the folks from Bill's took the lock out, they discovered that the locking mechanism was just rusty. So they cleaned up the mechanism, put everything back together and didn't even charger me for wasting their time. I now use their services any time I need a key copy made. They do a much better job than hardware stores or those key kiosks at Walmart, and they won't make and charge you for multiple copies of a key until they are certain the first one works. Very ethical, fair and professional.

Scheduling the service request was easy and they were able to accommodate my same day service request. John arrived early and quickly and efficiently resolved the issue by cutting out the frozen dead bolt allowing me to once again access my garage from my house. I engaged this company to re-key the home I just purchased. My experience was excellent from start to finish. The gentleman who helped me schedule over the phone was a delight. The technician, Rolf, was on time and very professional. We just bought the house and needed every single lock re-keyed so that we didn’t have 10 keys. I just called Bill's Lock and Key to fix a problem with a door handle that was not working properly. Before scheduling service they suggested that I try lubricating the lock with WD-40 and provided some easy steps to follow. In a few minutes I had the handle working all of the sticking and locking up was corrected. This really says something about the integrity of Bill's. I had my old, crunchy driver’s side Honda lock fixed here, because my key wasn’t turning in the lock. The guy who helped me (I wish I knew his name) was very kind and friendly and did a great job with the lock. I had my lock issue diagnosed for free the day before and came back in the morning. The shop itself is nice and clean with a little sitting area, and everyone who works there seems very competent and professional.

I've been here a number of times over the past few years and have always received very good service. Today I had an absolutely amazing experience with them. I bought a replacement key switch for my car at an auto parts store and took it to Bill's to see if they could release it to use my existing key. They told me they could, but it would be much cheaper to rebuild the old lock. They cut me a key for free to test if that got my old ignition switch to turn, which I took home and found it worked well. They then cut the new chip key to get the car starting properly. Total cost was half of what I was quoted elsewhere for the chip key and I was able to return the $200 switch at the parts store. I still need to take off the old switch to have them rebuild it, but it's no longer an emergency and I'll still end up paying far less than the new switch and all that. At Bill's they really know their stuff, they're friendly, and they're honest.

We had them come out to install deadbolts. They did a good job. We ended up having them come out again to change locks for bedroom doors (and though it wasn't in our original request, they went back to their office and got the appropriate locks we needed). Deadbolts and locks are good quality and we got the keys. We recommend this place.

I was very pleasantly surprised at how wonderful the customer service was at Bills. I first had a kid named Kris cut me a new key, then an automotive tech named Brandon came out and got me going in a very reasonable amount of time. He was good at what he did and was very polite and friendly. I can't speak more highly of this business. They don't have any infiniti keys to make a copy. Atleast they told me before they came out that it would take 3 weeks to get one. The gentleman was very informative and professional even with me being annoyed that I would have to wait so long. Ordered two key fobs and keys on line. Were not the type that you could pair yourself. Called around to get someone with the software. People had it, but they gave me a hard time because I didn't get the fobs and keys from them. Stopped by Bill's and even though they were very busy took care of me right away, the fobs and keys work great, and the price was reasonable. No hard time or hassles from these guys, just good service.

Eric came out to rekey my house. He arrived right on time and was very helpful and professional. We discovered an issue with the door knob lock and he gave me three options for fixing it. I never felt pressured to go with the more expensive option. He made getting my locks rekeyed quick and painless! I’d definitely use them again for any future locksmith needs.

I am giving 3 starts because when I called in for the feature called "My Key" for my Ford Focus, they said they know how to take it off. Then, when I came in and asked to take it off, there was two workers that I talked to and told me they don't program keys to take off the "My Key" feature for my car. They were confident that they do not program that feature. So I went back in my car, made others calls and check other places to see if they program "My Key" features but since I was there already, I tried calling again to their office and hoping they would know I was talking about and next thing I know, the person that knows how to program the "My Key" feature was by my door. From there on, the guy told me that it will take about 45 minutes to do it but it only took him 15 minutes to do it and I only paid $80 instead of $300 at a Ford dealership. The customer service by the guy that helped me was very good and helpful. It feels really good not having to show notifications from the feature that it had. It would be nice if everyone that works there knew everything that they do. It seem like only few knew everything that they do and one of them is the person that answers the calls.

I accidently locked my dogs in the car, luckily it was overcast, I had called someone else, telling them I had dogs in the car and the never showed up even an hour later. I was about to the point of breaking out a window, the dogs were getting hot. I called Bill's and the were there in less than 20 minutes. They cared about my dogs. The technician Cody really went above and beyond for us after we had to replace and rekey the ignition on our 2000 accord after someone tried to steal it. The anti theft device worked and they didn't get it but we had to get past the immobilization. It was a total pain but Cody kept going back to the well until he knew it was going to work and when we finished replacing the ignition it started right up with out us having to return. I appreciate Cody taking the time and having the consideration to not just put a band aid on it but actually fixing the problem for good so we wouldn't have to come back-He made sure it was going to work. We went in at a busy time. Lots of others were being helped, but when we went in David helped us right away. He helped out with my car locks, took out the lock from both doors, did factory exact remakes of my keys, and threw in all his labor for free! David made my day and now I don't have to worry about my car being as easily stolen as he reprogrammed my keys. What at a great kid!!! Bob and another younger guy helped out. I told him my front door handle was sticking and the door lock was very rough to turn. Kris showed me some handle/lock combos they could install, but said the handle/lock set on my door may just need a new spring or need to be lubricated. Kris set up a convenient time on Friday for an employee to come out and look at my front door to see if a new handle/lock was needed (taking measurements if necessary) or if lubrication was only needed. The Bill’s Lock and Key, employee, Eric, showed up today at the agreed upon time. He was professional, courteous and knowledgeable. He looked at my door, took apart the handle and checked the lock. He said it just needed to be lubricated and that everything else was fine. The whole visit took about twenty minutes. The employee, Eric, gave me an invoice for a reasonable amount, I paid and he left. The lock and handle work great now. I will use Bill’s Lock and Key again, and let others know about their service.

Cut and programmed two ignition fobs for $200; dealership quoted $800. Quick, no-nonsense. This is the second time I have been and I will be back. Last time they installed a door handle mechanism that I had pulled from a junkyard after somebody tried to break into a borrowed truck. They may not be the flashiest or the overly obsequious to customers, but they always get the job done right, are very knowledgable, and the pricing is consistently really good.

At first they where very nice helping me with a problem I had lossing the key to my car. After everything they told me to do didn't work I came in and was VERY rudely yelled at by one of the female workers. Then I was charged $140.00 for a key that didn't turn my car on. When I returned Monday to speak with the owner to find a solution I was VERY rudely spoken down to and yelled at for no apparent reason. I'm still not able to get my car to turn on and I am very disappointed in the way I was treated at Bills Lock and Key. Upon returning to Bill's lock and key after finding the solution to my problem they did help me to get my car started with a good key at a quarter of the cost of the dealership.

I went to Subaru for a new key and they had to get it from the east coast and have it cut back there, then go through several steps to program it. They actually suggested I go to a local locksmith. None of that nonsense at Bill's. They knew exactly which replacement key to order, and they cut it and reprogramed all my keys and car in 30minutes. And for about half of what Subaru was going to charge me. And all the keys work perfectly, unlike those you get cut at those big box stores that you have to take back because they're not quite right. This morning, Phil did an OUTSTANDING job installing new locks and handles on 3 doors. The security door needed some correction (deadbolt lock openings did not quite line up), FIXED. Garage door needed a bit of an adjustment, DONE. He showed me how to properly lubricate the lock bolts and keyholes; then showed me how to change the orientation of the handles. I went in today for a duplicate key for my car and was told it would be $5 to cut the key and $40 to program it (a transponder key) for my car. The technician came up to me after finishing the job and said he was able to program it without his computer and would not charge me the $40 I was expecting to pay (he said it wouldn't be ethical). Thank God for Jason at Bill's Lock & Key (BLK). We were out of town and our security camera caught an intruder in our home. We called the BLK after hours emergency number on the weekend and Jason took our call. He graciously waited outside in the cold with us for hours until the Police arrived to clear the house (we could not enter the house). He kept us calm by talking to us about normal stuff and kind of taking our minds off our problems. After the Police did their thing, Jason replaced the locks on like 5 doors, and he did it quick. I had to replace my ignition cylinder due to attempted theft. The new cylinder from Autozone came with two new keys with transponders, but they did not allow the car to start. Three other locksmiths said I had to see the dealership. Staff at Bill's took time to listen to my problem and explained the procedure to program the car to use the new keys. Saved me some $$$. Thank you Bill's.
