If I could give Oakwood Cleaners 100 out of 5 stars, I would. Oakwood Cleaners took on a HUGE project of both restoring and tailoring my vintage 61-year-old, 3rd generation wedding dress and turned it into the most beautiful heirloom dress I could have ever asked for. This dress was made in 1961 for my grandmother's wedding day. Then her daughter, my mother, wore it again in 1989 for her wedding. Since my grandmother's wedding 61 years ago, the dress was never once properly preserved or stored. It was in poor shape, to say the least. When I started planning my wedding in 2021, I really didn't entertain the idea of using my mom's wedding dress as my own because I knew it wasn't in good shape and that it was quite old. But after reading some of Oakwood Cleaner's reviews on vintage wedding dress restorations, I decided to take the dress in, and have it looked over - and I am so glad I did. From the second I walked in Oakwood Cleaner's doors, I was treated with nothing but the utmost professionalism and sincerity. They treated my vintage dress with love and reverence, as if it was their own mother's. Their team was extremely knowledgeable about everything to do with the dress, the fabric, and the structure which allowed them to manipulate and restore it to its previous beauty. Oakwood Cleaners even had an in-house seamstress, Birdy, that was able to take on my dress as another project. Since she was knowledgeable about the restoration process and how to deal with vintage fabrics, she provided expert advice and skill in fixing the structure of the dress and tailoring it to my body. This allowed me to have my vintage dress restored, tailored, and pressed all in the same building by the same experts. I cannot say enough how thankful I am for the team at Oakwood Cleaner's. They made it possible for me to wear the same dress on my wedding day that my mother wore on her wedding day and her mother before that wore on her wedding day. This meant more to me than I can possibly explain in this review. But if you're reading this review, wondering if you should take your wedding dress into Oakwood Cleaner's, please deliberate no further and go in! Enjoy the attached pics of the dress.

I highly recommend Oakwood Cleaners for wedding gown cleaning and preservation! I picked my daughter's wedding gown up this past Saturday & I could not be more pleased! Rhonda explained the entire process to me again and exactly what we need to do to protect the gown over the years to come. Rhonda and her staff are so very experienced, helpful, kind and patient. Oakwood is a class act all around! Their service is above and beyond in every way.

Can't recommend Oakwood Cleaners enough for wedding dress cleaning!! My wedding dress was GROSS when I took it to them to get cleaned, stained with dirt, spray tan, makeup, and spilled wine. I honestly didn't have super high hopes about it being restored to perfection because it had been so stained throughout the day but they did it somehow! It was given back to me in pristine condition, steamed and nicely hung up so it would minimize wrinkles in the dress. It gave me even more peace of mind that they use a text number you can request updates from, respond back to any questions they have come up, or get updates on when it will be ready for pick up. It was a long wait to get back since it is hand cleaned but well worth it.

Oakwood Cleaners are the very best. They do all of my cleaning. They beautifully cleaned and preserved my granddaughter’s wedding gown. They are expensive but worth it. Many of my clothing garments are over ten years old and still wearable because of the care Oakwood has given them. They are the best!

They were so helpful, detailed in their assessment and inventory, and did a beautiful job cleaning everything that could be salvaged. Not long after my daughter announced she was getting married, I once again discovered my grandmother's 120 year old wedding dress tucked away in a trunk just as I had found it so many years ago. After 30 years, I had forgotten I had it! I didn't expect my daughter to wear it as her wedding dress, but we both thought it would be wonderful if she could wear it for a photo. I asked around about where to get it cleaned and my most knowledgeable friend immediately said Oakwood Cleaners! I thought it could NEVER look this good. I took the skirt in as I thought that was the only part that was salvageable but later added the top just to see what could be done. Rhonda was excited about the dress as I was but she was cautious because it was so fragile and stained. Obviously, as you can see, Rhonda's son Aubrey worked a miracle cleaning both pieces to where it almost looks brand new and just in time for the wedding....we have not made photos yet of my daughter wearing it (the reason why this review is so late!!) but I brought it out for the wedding and the photographer took a few photos with my daughter! My daughter was delighted to have her Great Grandmother's dress to display during her backyard wedding in October! The top of the dress had to be restored (re-stitched by hand) in many places, but to have it looking so beautiful through the delicate, green, cleaning process used by Oakwood and Aubrey made it worth the time and money. Many, many thanks again to Oakwood...to have this dress looking this beautiful is a real gift to all Nettie Kate's grandchildren, great grandchildren and all the generations to come.

I took my wedding dress to Oakwood Cleaners to be cleaned and preserved. They did a wonderful job on the dress. They were able to get a large red wine stain out and completely clean the hem. They also showed me exactly how to care for the dress after preservation. It looks beautiful. The only problem I had was with communication. I brought my dress in on August 22 and was told it would be cleaned and preserved by March 15. I made what I thought was a down payment on the dress. It turns out they charged me fully. Due to a snowstorm in Nashville the dress was not ready until April 1. When I came to pick it up, they were unaware that I had wanted the dress preserved. They charged another $130 for the preservation, even though according to documentation I had already requested this service when I initially brought the dress in. Luckily the preservation was ready in one week and there was no confusion when I picked it up for the last time. I would recommend Oakwood Cleaners for the cleaning and preservation. However, I would not recommend them for their business style.

Highly recommend Oakwood Cleaners! I had them clean my heavy queen size bed comforter prior to storing it for the summer months and had no issues. Service was faster than expected. "Green" safe cleaning products are used. Customer service is excellent. I live in the West End area so location is perfect.

I have a vintage pink and ivory lace dress my mother hand made for my daughter about thirty years ago. It was damaged by a framer who used double sided tape to attach it to a mat board for framing, rather than sewing it (as I requested) so it could be removed easily. I was so concerned it was ruined. When carefully removed from the mat board, some of the tape and a few pieces of the dark paper board came off onto the dress. Oakwood Cleaners cleaned and restored the dress perfectly. Now my granddaughter can wear her mother’s beautiful vintage lace dress! I would trust Oakwood Cleaners with any specialty cleaning, as well as every day items. They did an excellent job!

Wonderful wonderful experience! I got married in Napa last August - lots of dancing and fun was at had at the reception. My dress came home with several wine spills and I wasn't sure any of them would ever truly come out. Pat assured us that they could clean the dress. They didn't return the dress until it was as good as new! Very pleased with the result and the level of service. It took a couple of months, but they were diligent about updating us throughout the process. I brought my very abused and neglected wedding dress in to be cleaned and preserved at Oakwood cleaners. The combination of a very humid wedding day, a spray tan, an outdoor wedding, a huge thunderstorm and the dress smashed into a cardboard box for almost 2 years (judge me) before bringing it in had me nervous it was not salvageable. Oakwood was super professional in the original consult and explaining exactly how the dress would be treated. Although pricey, I must say it was worth the magic they did on this dress. It looked almost new and was beautifully packaged and preserved in a box to be used or shown off in the future. I’m not sure if it was the state of my dress or the fact that they knew I wasn’t planning on needing it any time soon, but it did take about 2+ months to get back. This was not an issue because they were transparent about the time it would take during the consult and remained in contact via email and text as I waited. Overall the experience felt personal, professional, and although pricey, worth it for the finished product. I’d recommend Oakwood for anyone who put a good amount of money into their wedding dress and want to salvage it for future generations (or to squeeze back into it 10 years later just to see if they can ;p).

I recently brought in a vintage, 1970s suede jacket to Oakwood to be cleaned, and had a positive experience! Because of the nature of suede, it ended up taking a little longer (they send it off to a leather specialist) and was not cheap to clean, but after it was finished I was so impressed at what a good, thorough job they had done. The jacket looks good as new! It takes a bit of planning ahead, but I'd definitely recommend this place for your cleaning needs!

I can't speak any higher of this company. I had a nightmare of an experience getting my wedding gown cleaned at another "green" company in Nashville back in 2015. I went to the other company first because they were "green" (I thought they didn't use harsh chemicals, etc) and because they were reasonably priced. When I picked up my gown, I immediately panicked. It was gray and no longer the beautiful white it once was. It looked like it had been dipped in dirty water (come to find out, it had!). And the stains at the bottom were exactly how they were when I dropped the gown off. After two months, the gown started developing yellow spots. I thought my $2500 wedding gown was ruined. That's until I went to Oakwood Cleaners! I was so hesitant because I didn't think anyone could fix it. However, upon talking with Pat, she immediately put me at ease. She is knowledgeable about wedding gowns (accurately estimated the price of mine, asked great questions regarding the material), knowledgeable about the cleaning process (educated me on what this other "green" company likely used on my dress and how the dress was machine cleaned), and was honest about expectations regarding their capabilities. She walked me through how they would treat my dress. They don't use harsh chemicals (while not flaunting this "green" name). They meticulously hand wash all layers paying close attention to stains and also vulnerable areas that may turn over the years. And they take their time (several weeks, which shows the amount of care they give your dress). When I picked up my gown, I was almost in tears. It was the beautiful white it once was, no yellow spots, and the stains on the bottom from my wedding day were gone. Mrs Pat took the time to show me how to care for it in the future, including how to pack it in a safe box with acid-free tissue paper while using gloves and how often I should take it out to check it. Other reviews may have dock them stars because they are pricey. But let me tell you from experience, you get what you pay for. Take them your delicate and sentimental items. Do not chance those to anyone else! Mrs Pat is amazing (I know I've mentioned knowledgeable but did I mention sweet, compassionate, and honest?)! And I wish I knew who actually cleaned my dress. They are all miracle workers.

I took in a few pieces that I thought were goners, one had thread damage, another I burned while ironing. The pieces came back done so well, I couldn't find where the issues were. The downside is I don't know if this is going to save me money since I don't have to buy replacements or cost me because I have more pieces that "need a miracle" I'll be bringing in. Also, everyone I interacted with was warm and professional and they're taking extra precautions due to covid which eased my mind.

The date had to be postponed indefinitely and rather than just taking our money to preserve it like we thought we wanted, they gave us a breathable bag to contain it until we could use it (for free). I'll use them from here on out. There's a lot to be said for a little honesty now days.

It really does make a difference to have chemical-free dry cleaning, as other dry-cleaning chemicals are linked to cancer and other dis-eases. Although there are a few green cleaners in Atlanta, I think Oakwood is the only green cleaner in Nashville...which makes Oakwood a leader. :O)
