I started my engagement ring journey with Mr Tom Daube and his team at Washington Diamond on 11/5/22. Mr Daube took the time to assess what I was looking for in a ring for my fiancée, and made the process and journey an extremely easy one. The wonderful thing about the ring that was purchased, it was custom made to my liking. Even when there was a potential international shipment issue with the ring, Mr Daube assured me that I could trust that he would deliver as initially promised. After having checked out a few other diamond stores in the area, I was disappointed with their lack of knowledge and/or service. It was then a friend recommended me to Washington Diamond. I had wrongly thought Washington Diamond was pricer than other diamond stores; they are not. From the moment my husband and I met with Tom, we were put at ease. The project we were working on was a complete reset to a diamond which included hard to find shield cut diamonds and a custom made band that had several requirements. Tom immediately had sources to call and stones for us to see the next day. Mind you, these are not stones that are readily available in the market - even for jewelers. He also went to work on designing a custom setting and had his goldsmiths work on the most perfect ring which fits beautifully against my entity band. Tom and his team included small, personal details which make this piece very heartfelt and stand out. My experience with Washington Diamond (WD) was absolutely fantastic. My girlfriend and I had been researching and shopping for an engagement ring for a few months prior to coming to WD. We set up an appointment together with Tom D. in October 2018 to see some of the stones and settings WD had to offer. Because we had been researching prior to our appointment, we knew much about what to look for in a good diamond (cut angles, proportions, etc.), but Tom did an excellent job explaining in great detail some of the questions we had which the internet had not easily addressed. He explained what standards WD uses when selecting their stones, and they are well within ideal the ideal range. We felt very welcomed, and Tom never pressured or steered us toward a purchase. A couple months later and after deciding on a center stone, I contacted Tom again without my girlfriend. I decided to go back to Tom at WD because I genuinely trusted him and felt that he would help me find the perfect setting. The quality of products and service offered by WD was also at the top of my list for reasons to go back. I had been to several jewelers in the past year, but Tom was the only one who listened and did not rush me at all. Plus he really knows his stuff! After I picked out a few settings on their website that I thought my girlfriend would love, I set up another appointment. Tom’s setting recommendation was the same setting I had in mind! Once again I could tell he had actually listened to me during our interactions. We agreed on a price and finalized the deal that day. A few days later I received a call from Erin stating that the ring was ready for pickup. When I picked it up I was blown away with how beautiful the ring was in person. I knew at once my girlfriend would love and cherish this ring forever, and I will always have Tom to thank for helping me through this process. My girlfriend and I are definitely going back when it is time to purchase our wedding bands. I highly recommend them for all your jewelry needs!

My experience at Washington Diamond was great! I had went to several different jewelers while looking for an engagement ring and found that Washington Diamond was where I felt most comfortable. Tom was great to work with, I felt he was honest, sincere, and extremely knowledgeable. Unlike some other jewelers in the area, I didn't feel like I was being pushed to buy above my price range, Tom never tried to "sell" me on anything. He knew my budget and make sure to work within the parameters. I plan to use Washington Diamond for my wedding rings. I would 100% recommend them!

I went to Washington Diamond with just a few pencil sketches and stones from our families, hoping to create my ideal engagement ring. Tom Daube helped me work through the ideas and find the best ring to use as a base, then the in-house team of jewelers made the finishing touches to make it a reality. They were able to beautifully set three stones in a unique ring that my wife adores. I had such a great experience working with Tom that we went back for our wedding bands, too, and he was able to get us exactly what we were looking for. All-in-all, Tom was an absolute pleasure to talk with and was not at all a pushy or aggressive salesman. If I recall correctly, our first appointment consisted solely of discussing my thoughts and him showing me a few possibilities, and I walked out empty-handed to check out a few other shops. I quickly came back to Washington Diamond after realizing they were the best! The rest of the staff is totally professional and courteous, too. My fiancée and I began our search for an engagement ring at Washington Diamond and it pretty much ended there as well. While we had initially intended to visit several different jewelers in the DC region, Washington Diamond quickly impressed us with their selection, pricing, customer service, and friendliness. My partner had my ring formed here at Washington Diamond without any insight to my ring size in order to keep the proposal a surprise, so my first interaction with Washington Diamond was getting the ring resized. I came in on Tuesday and worked with Janelle who allowed me to try on a few sizes for comfort, explained the difference my winter fingers would arrive to come summer, and shared that the resizing would be completed by Friday. The ring was ready Thursday! I worked with Virginia on Thursday for pickup, and she made me feel soo good about the ring itself! She must see fabulous rings all the time, and yet when she brought mine out, she wowed at it and everything and it was such a nice feeling. Then before leaving Thursday, I got to see the Sharon who not only recommended the place to my partner in the first place, but she works there, too. Before leaving, she asked me about my entire experience. I let her know how fast the resizing was and she let me in on their quickness for first timers, since they're aware of how much the newly engaged feel off with out the ring. They think of everything! Sharon talked to me about the security of the location with the two-door locked access and how safe the office is, she spoke emphatically over how the display pre-Covid, and even offered for me to come by anytime to get my ring freshened up before a night out or just because I feel like it. While engagement is already a special time, Washington Diamond made it even more so with their warm and hospitable nature. I could not be happier with my experience.

My fiance and I went to Washington Diamond on a recommendation from family, and couldn't be happier! We met with Tom in June 2010, just before getting engaged, to look at engagement rings. Neither one of us really knew what questions to ask or what to look for. However, we were well taken care of! Tom was very patient and let us take our time and instead of trying to pressure us into getting a diamond that might not have been right for us, he gave us endless options and let us make our own (informed) decision. Not only was the customer service fantastic, but they have a wonderful selection! They have very high standards, so you really can't go wrong with anything they have to offer. We were so happy with the engagement ring experience we just went back to pick out wedding rings a few days ago. As always, Tom was fantastic and we walked away with a beautiful wedding band that was the perfect compliment to my amazing engagement ring. I am a complete amateur at all things jewelry, so finding an engagement ring proved daunting. I visited three local jewelers. The first was a complete disaster. The second had some nice rings, but was quite expensive. Finally, enter Washington Diamond. With a quick appointment made for later in the week, I met with Tom Daube, who was an absolute joy throughout the whole process. We discussed options and settled upon a design I saw online. The design I liked was quite expensive, but using a 3D printer and modeling, Tom was able to deliver me the perfect ring and saved me a couple thousand dollars. Tom was always available and made the process as smooth as possible. We had about a month to make the ring, and it was completed a week early. Tom kept me notified at every step of the process and ensured we were on time. The fit was perfect and couldn't have gone better. I would highly recommend Washington Diamond to friends, family, or anyone looking for jewelry recommendations.

The BEST jeweler in the Washington DC area! Why? Because they sell only high-quality products; they give very professional advice; they don't put any pressure on buyers; they have an excellent selection--especially of engagement rings and wedding bands, and the people are terrific. TL;DR : This place has great customer service, fair prices, and high quality diamonds. What more could you ask for? Full Story: It was completely by chance that I ended up at Washington Diamond, but I'm so thankful I made it there. I meant to schedule an appointment with another local jeweler, but mixed up the phone numbers and hurriedly scheduled a visit without verifying the place. Lucky for me I realized my mistake in time to change travel plans and make my appointment at Washington Diamond. I knew very little about diamonds besides some research I'd done online before my visit. Tom walked me through everything, educated me, and gave me time to double check information via the literature they had there and via my phone. I never felt rushed or pushed into buying anything. In fact, I left after the appointment without a ring or having put down any money. I wanted to check some other jewelers in the area and compare prices. Tom not only understood, but was supportive. He wanted me to be comfortable with my purchase; wanted me to be confident that I was getting the best combination of quality & price that I could. After further investigation and speaking with friends and family, I found out that some of my relatives used Washington Diamond for +10 years. They had nothing but good things to share about Washington Diamond and Tom. Needless to say I went back and purchased an engagement ring . My (now) fiance' loved it and the rest is history. I inherited a 30 + year- old diamond from my mom that needed some work and repair and also had great sentimental value to me. I walked into Washington Diamond to get a general feel of a ring, but that same day I picked out the ring I used to propose. After being grilled on what my fiance wanted for awhile I was able to list a couple things off, and an entire tray of diamond rings matching that criteria was brought out. Our experience at Washington Diamond was excellent in all respects. When I was ready to propose, I was referred to diamond expert Tom Daube by friends of ours who obtained their engagement ring and wedding bands from him a few years earlier and I understood immediately why. Most importantly, they listened to me as I described the style of engagement ring I was seeking -- to include examining some rough drawings I made -- and my affordable price range. Tom very easily narrowed my search down to four or five stones and separate rings for me to consider. With Tom's help, I chose the engagement ring and subsequently surprised by bride, Stela. Later, we were easily able to exchange the setting to something more compatible with Stela's wedding band (I did get big points for trying, though). Re-sizing was also easily accomplished. Tom made the experience understandable by explaining the different diamond cuts, grades, and other characteristics and by doing the same for the various metal options for the rings. I had an appointment later that week, and the entire process was instructional, informative, but most of all PRESSURE FREE! I had my eye on a sapphire gemstone, with a specific band design as well. Washington Diamond has been my exclusive jeweler since I upgraded my engagement and wedding ring set for my 5th anniversary in 2005. Since then, I have purchased platinum engraved bands, a diamond pendant necklace, a string of pearls, custom asscher cut stud diamond earrings, and most recently a set of pear shaped aquamarine drop earrings set in diamonds with a matching pendant. Do we recommend Washington Diamond? As highly as we can. The way Tom Daube runs things at Washington Diamond is a picture of they way I would want to run a business. Customer service and quality is the name of the game. We were able to develop a relationship with Tom who worked with us directly on our ring. He is relatable and has a genuine way of interacting with you. It feels more like he is your friend and not just a business owner. You get to know him as a person as he gets to know you and you feel comfortable communicating all of you concerns and desires. You have his full attention for the entire hour you are there at each appointment and he really cares about finding what you want and getting it done, and getting it done the best way possible. Yet he also has a casual candor that facilitates knowing each other on a real, human level and helps you get the best product even if something you want might not work. After shopping around at a number of jewelers, we felt completely confident that his place stood out. We had him create a custom ring I drew. He seemed like he took a real interest in my work and wanted to get it exactly right with painstaking accuracy. He was really careful to talk through all the details and feasibility of each flourish (making sure it captures what you want but also ensures the structural integrity for a long-lasting product). He wanted to make sure the final product was up to his high standards. He even adjusted his standard workflow to what he thought would best get the final result right, even he incurred additional costs doing so. That was really impressive to me. He was able to work through the challenges of bringing our design to a final product in a way that created a positive relationship of respect between us. We were really happy with the ring we bought. I admire it daily and we’ll continue to go back to him. We felt motivated to do our best by him as he did his best by us. He was always gracious and professional at every turn. I ended up sending a coworker there to get their custom engagement right made, and they were pleased too. I was and am happy to do all I can to support Tom’s business. Bought a ring from Tom Daube; he was very professional, all business, and helpful. I had also shopped around at Mervis and Jared's; compared to the reps at those places, Tom was the most knowledgeable. Tom can sometimes come across as a little gruff... like I said above, he is all business. Don't let this mislead you; pay attention to the facts/data, not the emotions the store instills in you. That said, Tom offered the best quality diamond for the lowest price. I also personally found the ring settings to be best at Washington Diamond. The Mervis sales rep showered me with praise every step of the way, but the diamonds all contained inclusions visible to the naked eye (beware EGL israel; inflated diamond ratings). Jared's sales rep were downright aggressive... they wouldnt let me leave the store with out putting down a deposit; unfortunately their ring settings were all ugly. My fiance receives random compliments from strangers on her ring; before I started looking at rings, I wasn't sure if buying such a material gift would be worth it; it was.

I have done my homework, consult with friends, visited the mass advertised dealers and did my rounds multiple time in those advertised "half priced" custom stores in the area. Washington Diamond was, actually, much better than I could have expected from a jewelry store! I must admit I was a bit scared at first just because this was the largest single purchase I had ever made (all my cars have been second or third hand thus far). But as soon as I got in the store, I could tell there was no pressuring or trying to impress me with over-the-top fancy displays and gimmicks, unlike another jewelry store I visited before.
