My husband and I were referred by friends. We had some sentimental family jewelry that we wanted to use the gold from to make our rings. The experience of creating our rings was so personal and beyond enjoyable. After having my ring for a bit, I decided I wanted a different setting and went back to see if it was possible. Everyone I worked with was so welcoming and happy to see me again and never questioned my decision to make changes to my ring. Cannot recommend Thomas James and Bechtold enough!

I had a wonderful experience working with Bechtold’s. I went in to see if they could replace a diamond that had fallen out of a new ring from online company. I was quoted a price before leaving my ring. And was so impressed the work was all done I house! The staff are helpful, communicative, and honest. It was great to work with a company that is local, has Christian values, and does what they say they will. I HIGHLY recommend Bechtold’s.

Just picked up the engagement ring that I plan to propose with on Tuesday. Looks absolutely amazing. When I first walked in I had no idea what I was doing besides a little research I did myself. But I was helped the whole way never pushed to buy something I couldn't afford. I gave pictures of things i liked received photos of things that were similar till we hit what I was looking for. As I said when I walked out the door I recommend anybody to at least walk in this store and have a conversation if you are looking for something special. I also have to mention my kids are very active and mischievous. They ran around this store like mad men and instead of being upset they were given treats and talked to like family. You don't buy that.

Best customer service we’ve ever had with a jeweler anywhere. We are extremely pleased with our custom rings! Thanks again Thomas! Edit: After 4 months of owning our new rings, felt the rings were a tad snug especially in the humid South Dakota summer. Thomas and his team resized both of our rings quickly and without any fuss. We cannot recommend him enough! Extremely happy, will be the first place we stop for another jewelry purchase. 05/2021 Edit: Went back again for a Mother's Day gift of earrings. Thomas made them custom, kept it within budget, and had them to us VERY quickly. Will be coming back again.

They added our birthstones, our four children's birthstones, six diamonds for our grandchildren, and a ruby representing our 50th Anniversary. The design is an absolutely gorgeous keepsake! Thomas and his "family" were all very professional, knowledgeable, talented, and above all true Christians!

Thomas Is certainly a master at his craft and the rest of the staff here is absolutely amazing! I had a custom order for a pair of opal earrings for a friend that I ordered middle of December and wanted for Christmas, he had them done in no time flat AND under budget! They are absolutely gorgeous! The service inside the store is great as well! As a greasy diesel mechanic I am usually dismissed at stores like this, but I was welcomed through the door with a smile and the help I needed! Elizabeth helped me over the phone and in the store and is very professional and polite, and her gift wrapping skills are the best in town! Thanks again Thomas and staff! My new repurposed item receives compliments everywhere I go. The original design had flow and incorporated white/gold metals. My fiancé came to visit Thomas with an idea of proposing with the stone so I could choose the setting I would adore. Not only did Thomas spend the time pouring over multiple diamonds to find the right one, he delivered an experience that we will forever cherish when designing the setting. I desired rose gold with antique engraving. Thomas took me through the show room to get a feel for my esthetic and then hand engraved the feminine floral details that I desired. Yesterday I took my watch to Bechtold's Jewelry Shop in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to have the battery replaced. While waiting, I looked at the cases filled with gorgeous modern and antique jewelry. I saw several things that I was interested in. Makayla, who was minding the store that morning, brought the pieces out for me to look at more closeley. As always, she was very accommmodating and very knowledgeable about each piece. My husband and I have shopped at Bechtold's for many years. We are particularly interested in antique jewlery. This seems to be a specialty of theirs, because, no matter when we go into the store, there are always new pieces or a new collection to look at. After yesterday, my husband has a few suggestions for future gifts. And, I have a watch that will work for another year!

This place is the best. I would make this my first and last stop for any jewelry purchase. Their selection isn't the greatest but they can find anything you want if they don't have it. And you just can't beat the service and the quality. Update 5 March 2019 - this is still the place to go. Even from out of town they take the time to make things right. We plan on returning whenever we come to Sioux Falls. Highly recommended.
