Incredibly nice people and place!!! And beyond fair in all of their dealings. Very knowledgeable, and skilled! Since there are 12 troy ounces in a troy pound, gold is selling at approximately $22,392 per pound as of this writing.

Nothing but a positive experience. My brother and I were tasked with dealing with our father's large coin collection. When we've stopped in it usually takes nearly a whole day for Craig to go through the various items. He explains things to help us understand the 'why' behind whatever he is currently assessing. He is patient and has no issue with the process. Occasionally another customer comes in who has a need that Sheila cannot take care of fully. Craig is always apologetic for the interruption, but we understand and it is never an issue for us. Taking 5 minutes away from our nearly all day task is no big deal. Both Sheila and Craig are friendly and great to do business with. We feel we have been treated with respect and always felt we've gotten the best deal for what we've presented to them. As others have mentioned, Craig & Sheila take the time to answer questions and educate about the 'why' for the answer. Knowledgeable and honest. I and my brother would highly recommend Capital City Coin & Bullion to anyone needing to buy or sell any of the items these folks deal in. Also, do not confuse these folks with the shop west of this location which has a similar name. Capital City Coin & Bullion is located to the west of H&R Block in what is known as 'The Sherwood Forest' shopping center across from the old Kmart location on Hickman.

Craig's awesome! Never disappointed after stopping in. Reasonable prices and he pays top dollar if you're selling. He takes his time is sure to explain and educate you. So this is a very legitimate business. I have a good frjend who came across a coin and she asked if i thought it was something special i looked on the web and then immediately went to local coin shops i looked and i told her were gonna go to capital city coins they looked very professional. I asked my friend to wait till i came with her because i was afraid she would be taken advantage of and not be given the real price, thank gkd she waited to sell it because she went to hermans and they lowbaed her by a good amount and lied to her. We went to capital city and i knew we were in the right place. He was very professional and sat down explained the coins history value and other things and he examined it unlike hermans who claimed oh its not re gold and straight up lied. Its worth and true value were seen by capital city and she is very happy with the outcome. Thank you capital city coins for your honesty and integrity. 2 very important things to me as i am a veteran.

first time visiting capital city coins. I was in the market to buy 250k gold bars that I needed to buy before the end of the year. I stopped in 1 hour before closing and there was a few customers ahead of me. No problem. Finally the nice lady had a chance to speak to me and I had questions that only Craig could answer. He was with a customer so I had to wait but some if his friends came in and the conversation lingered on not about business. The nice lady reminded Craig that I needed help and he snapped at her saying he was working while his conversation was about his investments and his personal life. The store had closed and was not going to be open for another week and I apparently was not going to be a valuable customer. I decided to leave and try Christopher's. My time and money is valuable. Easy to find some other place to buy gold. There loss

That ABSOLUTELY has to be competition or someone having a bad day leaving horrible reviews...I knew nothing about bullion the first time I walked into Craig's store, and now I have my own furnace and company. The selection is great, the employees are friendly beyond belief, and the prices are about impossible to beat. I was busy doing business with an individual who was in front of him and conversing while doing business still with the previous customer. In order to run a professional business I need to treat all people with the same respect that I would want to be treated with. Whether or not the individual is doing 250 thousand dollars worth of business or 10 dollars worth. Unfortunately this individual left upset before I could speak with him and I'm sorry for that. Overall friendly business. This isn't truly a "store" per se, as it is a few cubicles, a display case, a smattering of half dollars and military challenge coins. Other than selling bullion, (which they gave me a solid fair deal on), the coin collection isn't anything to call home about. In order to enter the business, someone must buzz you in (which is fine), but when I entered I was greeted as more of a surprise and slight annoyance. (Even though I took their first offer and was friendly). I chalked it up to the owners wanting to get out of the office on a Friday . Afterward, I visited an establishment on the south side of town. The competition gave me similar figures of Capital City AND even recommended Capital City if the competition was able to help me out. Capital City was given a glowing referral and given this is Des Moines, Iowa ; I'd definitely go back.

I disagree with the reviews that state they disrespect "non-elite " coin collectors. Twice I have walked in with a few coins to get Craig's opinion on, and these weren't even basic silver coins. In fact, everything I have asked about was modern day pennies and nickels. What I love the most is, being a beginner to the coin collecting world; is I felt like I was treated like a king. He sat with me and thoroughly explained what I was seeing and why. I couldn't have paid someone for a lesson like I got for just asking a few questions. I have a ton of respect for Capital City Coin! Five stars doesn't begin to touch the true meaning of their customer service! You will not be disappointed!!!!!
