John is very knowledgeable and fair. Unlike his competitor in the Blue Mall who tried to charge a fee for each of my gold coins (Each!), John purchases the gold "spot-on" at the value the gold is worth while I'm meeting with him. I don't know if it's because I brought high quality gold, but he's been fair every time we've worked together. He also enjoys talking baseball and was quite a good player in his day.

We went to Martins Coin and Jewelry AFTER going to Vermont Coin and Jewelry and sold a 1884 3 cent nickel for $3200 after being offered $200 from Vermont Coin and Jewelry. Take it from me John Martin is an honest dealer and tells you what things are worth. It’s up to you to decide to sell or not. We sold the coin as well as other valuable coins and jewelry and were extremely happy with our transaction from start to finish. Go see HIM if you want a fair deal.

I just came and went! Brought some jewelry to have appraised. I needed the extra money. The shop was quiet, and decorated with a bunch of old ornate things. A fancy gold anniversary clock, an ancient slot machine. Mr. Martin was working on a very snazzy ivory and gold meerschaum pipe. His son(?) appraised my jewelry, verified, we did some paperwork, and that was it. Quick and painless. Everyone was professional and polite (albeit a bit quiet, but that’s no bother.) I will come back again for sure. 10/10 quick and easy.

I was at Martin's a day or two ago. I had to drop off supplies at my storage unit. Thought I would stop and check out the shop. Small shop, I like the way he used mirrors on the wall to give it a bigger feeling. Bought some dimes and quarters from him. Couple dollars cheaper then the LCS I go to. Because I've lived locally for most of my life, I've had the pleasure of visiting John Martin's shop numerous times and I've never been disappointed. John is the real deal, a coin expert for sure but he always checks the latest valuations and then engages in buy or sell with me in a transparent process that is more than fair and usually exceeds my expectations. People, believe me, such consistency and honesty is rare in this business. I have had several transactions with John and have always found him to be an honest broker, which in this business is paramount. I inherited some gold jewelry that I did not want so went to John to see what they could be sold for. I left without selling the pieces because I wanted to consider it some more. My cousin convinced me to sell them through an upscale auction house in Boston. The pieces sold at auction for exactly what John said that he would pay me but I ended up receiving several hundred dollars less because the auction house charged a huge commission! Lesson learned.
