Our family friend recommended EB Horn to me and my fiance as I wanted a custom wedding band. I wanted to take my mothers wedding band and melt/reshape it and add my grandmother's diamonds. EB Horn was able to accommodate my wishes and was really helpful. When I initially emailed Doug he got back to me the next day to set up an appointment time. When we arrived Christine was able to help us finalize the design that we wanted. She was able to show us the diamonds we had brought with a magnifying glass and let us try on one similar to what we imagined. Christine educated us about diamonds and the process we were going through. When we were done, she said it would be a 3 week turnaround and gave us a quote, however, the custom ring came back sooner than expected and we were able to make an appointment the same day; the final price was even less than she quoted! My fiance also had a great experience. EB Horn had a variety of different men’s wedding bands in different colors and sizes. He was not able to find the perfect size so Christine suggested that they shorten one of the band sizes by ¼. EB Horn was so accommodating and careful with our family items and we will definitely go back in the future. It was a great experience.

In 1986, my wife and I bought our wedding rings at E. B. Horn. Susan’s ring was a combination of sapphire and diamond; mine was/is a textured gold band. They served us well. Our marriage survives. I've never been rushed or pushed into anything, and the items I've purchased have been fairly priced and authentic. I recommend then to anyone. With all the newly opened jewelry stores trying to sell cheap knock-offs to tourists in downtown Boston, it's good to know there's at least one place you can trust. The staff are also exceptional, far superior to any other jeweler in Boston and I'm talking from Barmakian to Tiffany's - neither hold a candle to E.B. Horn. I worked with Maryann to have two sapphires (6 carats and 5.5 carats) appraised as well as a vintage pearl necklace lengthened with an extender. She informed me they would resting the necklace as to add knots as if it were to break the pearls would not stay on the string; she also informed me that adding an extender and changing the sterling silver ball clasp would change the necklace and they would add two additional sterling balls on either side of the original. I cannot begin to tell you how stunning it came out. It was a Christmas gift for my Mother who has never owned pearls; she was overjoyed and cried tears of happiness. Thank you, Maryann and E.B. I had recently gotten divorced and wanted to dispose of my previous engagement ring and ring wrap. I have an affinity for jewelry and have traveled world wide in several jewelry specific markets and knew what the retail value would be for the ring. I ALSO knew that the stone would need to be reset and the gold sold for weight value. EB Horn's initial offer was not only reasonable, but I knew that I was being offered top dollar and being treated with respect. About a year later, I took my son to several merchants at downtown crossing so he could purchase a promise ring for his girlfriend. Our last stop was EB Horn-on his own, he decided that he did not trust anyone else. While other merchants slapped their calculators down on the counter the minute he walked in the door, not caring how hard a 17 year old had to work to make $700, Amanda at EB Horn treated him with the utmost respect. There was no haggling, no nonsense. When he came with his girlfriend for Christmas from TX, she said that going to EB Horn was one of the highlights of her visit. At the same time, I decided to purchase 2 more small items for myself. Again, Amanda provided me with excellent service. She was completely patient with my indecisiveness and floundering. I was polite-but I still wouldn't have wanted myself as a customer! 25 years ago, I worked in the area and went for walks on my lunch hour and made daily stops to look in their window. Eventually, I married someone in the military and moved out of the area. I have been to stores in the southern US that have the largest selection of diamonds over 2 carats anywhere in the south and I have been to the largest jewelry store in Thailand as well as severaI places in between. I can say with 100% confidence that of all of the areas of the world I traveled to, and of the thousands of windows I drooled in front of, EB Horn has the most exquisite display of distinctive quality gemstones I have seen anywhere. As far as customer service, the down to Earth atmosphere is parallel to Market Basket, and appropriate for a high end (that still has affordable items) jewelry store. I hope to return there with my son when he shops of an engagement ring, and I would recommend the store or Amanda Selfridge without hesitation for their excellent customer service and knowledge.

I read he’d out to EB Horn Jewelers because I found a sterling silver teaspoon with a wedding date of 6/30/1914, I think, & I wondered if Horn still did sterling silverware. I thought I might trace it back to the original owners but they don’t do silverware now & their records don’t go back that far. And they did get back to me with the above information. JL Edmonsonn
