It is hard to decide which pet insurance company to go with. I used a different company with my last Golden and wasn't happy with them. Pet insurance companies are not all created equal and you have to compare premiums and co-pays with what you can afford. One thing is for sure, you can't afford to not have pet insurance. I have been happy with Pets Best, so far. They're a bit slow on processing claims, but things have been tough for all businesses the past couple of years. Our Golden ate a rock and had to have it removed from her stomach. Pets Best paid on it. She has had a lot of intestinal issues for a year and a half that our vets have struggled to diagnose (pre-eating a rock). They have been paying the claims for all of her diagnostic tests and imaging. I am waiting on one big claim right now that they are getting info from the vet. Other than that one claim, I feel they have treated us well and paid according to the coverage. I would recommend Pets Best over a few other companies out there.

I found that my experience with PetBest went very well. When I needed to talk to someone they were very helpful & understanding. The process of submitting the claim was pretty straightforward. And they kept me updated as to what was happening. I’ve never had pet insurance with my previous animals but I am glad I tried it out with the new pets I have now.

We have had a great experience with PetsBest. One of our dogs has maxed out her benefit for 6 out of 8 years. We only wish we had gotten coverage sooner because she had an early urinary tract issue which was, of course, a pre-existing condition and is therefore not covered. PetsBest has paid us on every single claim for anything for which we are covered. Never had a problem.

I am just so impressed with PetsBest. I never thought I'd need pet insurance but a few years ago my Vet told me I should get coverage on Winston. He's a Golden and although he was completely healthy at the time they are prone to hip dysplasia and cancer. So 4 years ago I covered him with PetsBest and then honestly forgot about it. I'm so glad I did. Winston developed an aggressive form of lymphoma that made it's way to his central nervous system. Ultimately it took his life, but he fought hard for 6 months and the Vet, his Oncologist and I did everything we could. Ultimately the bills got upwards of $10,000 and I was so grateful that I never had to make a financial decision and I could focus on his medical care.
PETS BEST really is the BEST. They reimbursed quickly and without question or hesitation for each of his weekly visits, and even when they saw euthanasia on his final bill, they quickly processed the days medical procedures and bloodwork, and then sent me an email telling me they had automatically cancelled Winston's coverage and even that they were going to return the unused portion of the premium for this month. I honestly am just stunned with their level of customer care and the compassion they showed toward my best friend in life. PetsBest helped me be there for him, and when the time ultimately came to say goodbye I knew that he and I had done all we could. I miss him with all my heart. I'll be forever grateful to PetsBest for standing there by our side.

I have filed several claims on my dogs and always been happy with the reimbursements. This is an easy plan to use as my vet sends my invoices via email and I can easily attach them to my claim forms.

While we were out on vacation for the weekend, we left our Labrador and Husky in a pet hotel. The first morning of our vacation we get a call from the pet hotel telling us that our Labrador was throwing up and having bad #2s. They had to transfer him to the hospital on-site. They gave us quotes for treatment which were large amounts. We had not needed to use the Pets Best insurance before this so admittedly I was very worried about how the pet insurance would cover. Nonetheless, we went ahead with all the treatment plans. Luckily, our Labrador was fully healthy by the end of treatment which was the most important part. I then submitted the full treatment that was received along with itemized invoice/receipt. About 2.5 weeks later I got the notification that everything that was supposed to be covered was approved by Pets Best and that they would be sending the reimbursement for what they covered! Thank you Pets Best, you don't understand how much peace of mind we have as dog owners we have knowing our pups are covered by this insurance! I'd say our Husky is pretty happy to have his brother home and healthy also!

My claims took about 4 weeks to process. I did get an email after about 2.5 weeks that said they recieved my claims and were running slow. Claims came back with very clear explanations for each service on the vets invoice. This was my first claim, and I'm very satisfied.

We have been with the Pets Best for the last 2 years since we adopted our puppy. Being a new dog parent, choosing insurance was a daunting task but after few comparisons decided to join here. So far, nothing but very good. We had our share of puppy issues, some cuts leading to surgery, all were handled well with no surprises as laid out in the policy. Turnaround time is reasonable.Cost is fairly priced as well. We took just the coverages for accidents and diseases.

I could not say enough positive things about your insurance company. I have been screwed by other pet insurances in the past so i appreciate transparency and honesty. I got this policy for my dog after having a terrible experience with nationwide and never looked back. 4.5 years later, and its the first time i had to use this policy for a big claim and was worried sick that it was going to get denied. Provided medical records, less than a month later, i had my check reimbursement for my dog's MRI. Even though my pet is aging and i understand the costs will increase, i think i am set as far as insurance goes, i will always use Pets best for my pet insurance. Keep up the good work guys, your policy is worth every penny.

I got Pets Best insurance for my dog not long after adopting him and have needed it a couple times. First when he got Giardia, and more recently when he’d stopped eating for a couple days and became ill.
In both cases knowing I had insurance made a lot of the worry about the costs of diagnosis and treatment secondary concerns - I could put my focus on the wellness of my best friend.
Pets Best coverage is pretty straightforward (my policy has a $500 deductible and 90% coverage after the deductible is met). They’ve processed my claims and reimbursed me via direct deposit in a timely fashion.
I recommend pet insurance to everyone I can and have been highly satisfied with Pets Best!

I like Pet's Best because their policy benefits are explained in plain, simple English. There's a deductible, a percentage covered, and class of care covered. THERE IS NOT FEE SCHEDULE! THEY PAY WHAT THE DR CHARGES.
One can include or exclude exams or rehab. For some pets I exclude these and have a high deductible to create a catastrophic coverage plan. After spending $1,200 Pet's Best will step in and help; otherwise I manage daily healthcare expenses myself. The only item I found not easily understandable was the actual amount of the deductible. A $1,000 deductible policy with 90% coverage is actually $1,111 deductible. This is because the deductible is calculated using only the "covered percentage" of expense or 90% of total expenses. This is the only tricky aspect of Pet's Best and I know it now so not a problem.

This is the best pet insurance! My dog developed high BUN/creatinine and was ultimately diagnosed with chronic kidney disease. Pets best covered all the testing they did to stage the kidney disease and rule out reversible causes of kidney failure. It’s really easy to submit a claim and they send your payment in a timely manner. I haven’t had any issues with them paying for claims either. if you have a dog you need this pet insurance!

We are so pleased with Pets Best. Submission of our 6 claims was easy, both online and with the mobile app. We uploaded our paid invoices. We received our dogs medical records from our veterinarian by email and uploaded those also. Pets Best sent an initial email verifying receipt of our claims and another within less than 2 weeks explaining coverage, with all deductible, co-pay and payment amounts as we expected. Payments were then direct deposited into our account. Policy documents that clearly explain coverage, simple claims submission process, and fast payments. We really couldn't ask for more. Pets Best has been life saving for our sick dog . We have seen different vets and the results have been inconclusive. So a lot of testing and a lot of urgent care. Pets Best has supported us through this process by reimbursing a lot of the heavy bills. The only reason I am giving one less star is the process times and that they do not cover supplements which are life saving for our pet. Highly recommend as they are much better than Trupanion or other big names out there.

Not sure what's going on but Pets Best must have gotten additional information on my claims dating back to August that we had issues with cause after additional information Pets Best paid my claims from August thru November of 2022 which pleased me dearly. 4 claims approved just in last week from August thru November I just hope the 4 claims on my email are real and will be placed in my account in 5-7 days I will check.
I'm amazed and unexpected but additional information does help with claims when vets most the time don't put the detailed information needed it complicates claims. Thank you Pets Best!

I have had Pets Best Insurance for my 2 shih tzu brothers since they were pupppies. They are now almost 4 years old and I am so happy I signed them up. I plan to keep them both on it for life. I use their app on my phone and it is super easy to submit claims. Response time is excellent and they pay the claims exactly as it is all explained. I have the routine and the accident/illness for them. I've had dogs all of my life, but this is the first time I ever had health insurance for them. It's so well worth it. One of my tzu had a problem this summer that required a trip to an emergency vet. The cost of that was over $700.00 and since my deductible was paid, I was reimbursed 90% of that cost. With the cost of vet care these days, I highly recommend getting insurance with Pets Best. I also take advantage of their 24/7 call line for veterinary assistance. If you are thinking of of getting health insurance for your pet, I'd say sign up!!

Definitely worth it! The price is reasonable and depending on what is covered it will take about 2 or 3 weeks to get the money back for your pets vet visits.
The customer service is helpful and I have even used their emergency vet hotline once and that was very helpful as well.

My experience with Pets Best so far has been positive! We've been insured for going on 3 years now and had to use our insurance for the first time this year. We've had several health issues that my dog was faced with throughout this year, and Pets Best covered everything that was to be expected. The process was easy for reimbursement via the site. The review process and payout times can vary. I've had payouts as quick as 2 weeks from claim submissions, and others take as much as 4-5weeks due to them being backed up. In the end, we were fine with the wait times and used care credit to hold us over until we could be reimbursed. It was a relief to be able to take care of the accumulated debt in vet bills due to being insured!

PetsBest has been reliable and trustworthy. When my dog had a medical problem this year, they paid promptly on all claims except for one set of tests. I appealed the rejection, believing that there was a misunderstanding leading to their conclusion that this was a pre-existing condition. They evaluated my appeal, gathered needed records from my vets, and determined that they had made a mistake. They immediately put through payment for this last set of charges. I am extremely pleased with their responsiveness and openness to re-evaluation of the rejected claim. I believe PetsBest has fulfilled all their obligations and commitments of coverage and recommend them highly.

I recommend PetsBest to anyone who has a pet. I have never had any issues with making a claim or understanding my coverage. The processing time is a little long, but I never have any issues with receiving payments - it has always been smooth and straightforward.
Honestly, when I first started with PetsBest when I first got my dog - my vets office said that I may have issues as she has seen other clients complain about the claims process/payments and coverage. So I have to admit I was hesitant.
Every claim I have ever made, big or small, has been paid-out and never had a problem.
Unfortunately, my dog passed away in August. He had surgery, spent multiple nights in the animal hospital, countless medications, and had multiple tests ran. The bill ended up being over 16k.
After making my claim, I received a payout and will only have to pay 3k out of pocket. I was also reimbursed for the days that were paid after my pet had passed away.
I have to admit I wasn’t expecting to get the amount that I did . This gave me a lot of relief as this was a huge unexpected cost that I would have to payoff myself otherwise.
Overall, I highly highly recommend PetsBest. Please get it while they are puppies - just like I did. You won’t regret it and despite a horrible and tragic event I am glad I was covered.

Purchasing Pet Healthcare Insurance was one of the very best purchases of my life. Pets are family and no one want to be put in the poor house if your pet gets into an accident or becomes ill. We got our puppy from a rescue at 3 months old. I took out insurance on her between 1 and 2 yrs of age and boy was that a good call. My girl is now 5 and she tore both of her ACLs about 10 months apart - each surgery was $4K but I only had to pay a fraction of that as my insurance had a 90% coinsurance with a $250 Ded. I didn't have to go into credit card hell to help my precious girl. So thankful for Pets Best. And best of all, they didn't raise my premium due to filing these two hefty claims.

Love my pet insurance. Wish I had this before my little doggie got attacked and almost killed. Spent alot out of pocket on her, but it was absolutely worth it to get her healthy again. Don't hesitate. Get insurance for your pets now. I so like pets Best. Haven't used it for the main reason I got it yet, but I do use the wellness plan I purchased and get credited back a descent amount for services reimbursed for. Great service and you can use any vet to file your payments to get reimbursed. We'll worth the choice with pets best insurance.

New Pets Best Insurance customer as of May, '22. Pretty pleased with their service so far. Recently took my pup for two vaccine updates and an ear infection. Pets Best reviewed and processed my claim quickly (actually more quickly than I expected as they said it would take 20-40 days, which seemed excessively long to me) and there were no surprises in my reimbursement (factoring in deductibles, co-pays and services no covered).

One of my dogs had a blockage and had to be seen after hours at the emergency clinic. He had to have fluids, X-rays, a barium study to try and figure out what was causing him the issue. We were very fortunate that he was able to pass the item thanks to the intervention of the clinic.
I submitted his bills and Pets Best never questioned a single charge. They reimbursed me within two weeks! I can’t imagine not having Pet Insurance (I have it on all four of my dogs) and Pets Best is the only insurance to have!

She just had her annual check up and medications for flea, tick and heartworm. I am pleased with the coverage and how fast the claim was settled. Customer service was friendly and supportive. Personally I think the claim process could be more efficient. I've heard other pet insurances are able to process claims in a matter of days, whereas with Pets Best it has taken up to about a month for some claims that I've submitted. But with my senior dog rescue, it has still been better to have insurance than not since the expensive vet bills I've paid at least applied to her deductible. It's also been the most affordable for our situation so I'm mostly content.

We've had Pets Best Insurance now for about three years. While no insurance is cheap, Pets Best is one of the most reasonably priced options that we found. Our dog has been prone to allergies and skin infections, and the insurance has been well worth our while in visits to the vet for illness. Submitting a claim is easy, and while the claims process used to be really long, they seem to have gotten much better and turning around reimbursements within two or three weeks. Highly recommended.

I had pet insurance with Pet's Best for 19 years. It was great when I first signed up. The company was sold at least 3 times during those 19 years. Each time the prices rose and less customer service was offered. My last cat just passed away at the age of 17. His premium was around $1,200 with a $1,000 deductible. If I had it do over again, I would set aside $1,200 a year in a separate bank account over the life of my pet to cover veterinary expenses. Just be aware that veterinary services are expensive. They now have much better diagnostics and treatments, but that all costs more money. Some of the medications can be quite expensive too. For the last 6 years of my cats life I had to take him to the vet every 2 weeks for a B12 injection. He was on 2 to 3 meds at a time. It was a hassle to have to upload each invoice to submit a claim. If you only go to the vet 1-2 times a year it would be no big deal, but you probably wouldn't meet the deductible anyway.

Pets Best isn't horrible, but it's often a struggle to get claims reimbursed. For the THIRD year in a row, I have to appeal to get the full wellness benefits for Simparica Trio which is flea/tick and heartworm prevention and yet they only reimburse flea/tick and make me appeal (and wait 3 months) to get the heartworm amount back. I've also had to appeal and get letters from my vet to get diagnostic tests for illnesses reimbursed. It's a bit infuriating.

I got a new puppy and was looking for reimbursement for neutering, and shots and flea and tick medicine. I have already submitted 4 claims and had no issues and was reimbursed in a couple of days right to my checking account. Super easy definitely recommend Pets Best!!!!

I just had my first "real" claim for my schnauzer. He was in the hospital and emergency vet for a total of seven days and ended up having surgery. I just received the EOB's on his claims. Petsbest will be reimbursing me $2731 for his bills, which totaled $3118. I am so surprised and so happy with their coverage!!!!

We have been using this insurance for our dog for over two years. The experience has been mixed. During the first year we were happy to have coverage for majority of wellness treatments, vaccines etc. Also claim processing was routinely quick within a week or two. That changed over the second year, with delays in claim processing and often unclear reasoning behind decisions. The major disappointment was a surgical procedure related to urgent tooth extraction combined with spay. We assumed the cost will be $1000 of our deductible with any overage being covered. In reality nothing above the deductible qualified as covered. So overall, better to have it but it is not the most reliable when it comes to emergencies and real costs.

Our beloved pup got osteosarcoma (bone cancer) when he was 18 months old and to say that we were devastated is an understatement. It was completely unexpected and heartbreaking. Pets best insurance was there for us and covered surgeries, chemo treatments and ongoing visits/medications without any issues. Pet insurance is not for preventative care but for this kind of situations and as a family whose dog got the worst case scenario, we were super appreciative. Sure, they can take a few weeks or a month to process a claim but that’s totally ok so some complaints here are unreasonable. Pets Best made all the difference to our family and we are beyond grateful.

I don't hate this insurance; however, they are slow to pay. I'll upload the notes with the invoice and I'll get told the claim is on delay pending notes? So then I have to send an email or chat saying that they are already uploaded.
It feels like a ploy to delay payment.
The wellness cap that they pay per year is also not high enough. Especially with older pets and one with certain medical conditions.
Unfortunately, pet insurance still has a preexisting condition clause so I HAVE to continue to use them until my dogs are no longer with me or policies change in vet health insurance.
I don't think they are the worst out there but not the best either.

I had given 2 stars but I changed it to 4 (see Update on the bottom) since someone helped me with my claim but I will change it to 1 star if I come across the same problem. I put my claim in December and I was receiving emails that they did not receive the paperwork from my vet. I called my vet and they said they sent them and they will again and they sent them to me as well. I received another email from Petsbest saying they did not receive the paperwork, so I sent it myself and called them. They said they don't see anything from my vet but my vet said they sent it twice after calling them again. I said to the woman from Petsbest that is she saying the vet is lying. Someone is lying. She said she isn't and she seems they didn't receive it and the vet could have made a typo. The vet told me the email they sent it to and even my policy number with Petsbest and if they sent me the paperwork, why wouldn't they have sent it to Petsbest? I see based off the reviews, many people are having issues with them and their honesty and getting their money back. It so sad that people only care about money and not helping people with their pets. The woman on the phone said they received my paperwork from the vet and will try to resolve it but getting my money isn't guaranteed. I have wellness care and I paid more for the insurance for 3 months than I did for the damn visit. On their site, you can't even cancel or take off your card info. If i cancel, it better not be difficult to. If they keep this up, nobody is going to keep them. Who knows if the good reviews are even real. What else is fishy is that I tried uploading my medical records a few times and it isn't uploaded. And the first time I called them they said it takes time. It's been more than a week. I call bs on that too
Update: I changed my review. The claim was put through and the money was put towards my deduction and they are very helpful on the phone. I am keeping them for now. I was already charged anyway for the next 3 months. My first payment was for 3 months and that's how I have it set up. But if this happens again where they lie about not getting the paperwork from the vet then I'm changing my review again and possibly canceling. Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. I am hoping I dont have a problem every time I put a claim in. My cats shots are due in March, so we shall see

I am very pleased with Pets Best. The turnaround time from submitting a claim to depositing into our account is fairly quick. always an email to say they received the claim and another of what the reimbursement with a breakdown of what the coverage paid is.

We call our dog a lemon because she is forever getting sick or hurt! Pet's Best has helped us feel like we can take her to the vet and not worry about how we'd pay for her care. They are responsive via email and nine times out of ten respond back with the explanation of benefits well within the expected time frame, and the money is usually in my account in a day or two. Highly recommend!

Before enrolling in this insurance, review your prior bills to see how your actual expenses match the caps listed. Some of the vaccinations my dog receives are less than the caps and, while we were correctly paid the lower amount, when I had been signing up I had used the full cap amounts to determine if the insurance was worth the payment. Our actual flea and tick med prices are more than double the cap because we live on a warm climate. We took the wellness option and are currently receiving about half the cost of the insurance ($280+) back in benefits ($140+). Initially I had thought we would receive 75% back. The claims process is easy enough if you can scan your paperwork in to it. Processing times were given as a dismal 5-20 working days but happily arrived within 3 working days. I think this company could do better with it's reimbursement amounts by tailoring them to the region you live in. Flea/tick and heartworm meds ought to be covered in full to encourage folks to give the preventative meds. Also, the wording on the coverages should say it is the *lesser* of $x or what you pay. So, one star off as this is more expensive than I planned but 4 stars for ease of filing a claim, the processing time of the claim, and the Explanation of Benefits supplied.

I have Pets Best for about 5 months. My puppy had a cist that grew to about 1.5 inches. Pets Best requested her vaccination records from me and papers from the surgery from the vet. They contacted me via email and kept me updated. I'm expecting a check this week. Yay.

Great company, Ive been w/ them since Mar of 2020. Only issue which isnt a huge thing but the processing time can take a lil long to get funds back (a month or two) but they still are a wonderful company.
I did find it surprising that they used to give you $25 gift card for ever referral you made but now they do it where they will donate $25 to a shelter. I’m all for giving back to the community & helping other pups since my dog was also rescued but it was a bit of a downer to see. They should do it where we get the $25 & they match it to give $25 to the shelter (my opinion) but either way I will keep referring this company to friends & family.

We have had Pets Best insurance for almost 4 years now. We have had to make several claims in that time and they have always paid out exactly as expected with zero hassle. We have recommended them to friends and family who have gone on to have the same wonderful experience with them that we have had. We are very happy their service and will always have our pets insured. It has been a literal lifesaver for a couple of our dogs.

I do for the most part like this pet insurance company, however the rating is lower because of the long wait time it takes for claims to be processed. Pets Best has great overall cost and I've never had a problem with reaching someone in customer service, however I have had problems with some of my claims being stalled because there supposedly wasn't adequate information or proof of payment made (when in fact everything they were asking for was submitted). Before Pets Best I had Figo for a previous pet and they are fantastic and have one of the fastest claim turnaround time out there.

After our Pekingese, Chewy had a back injury in Dec 2021, costing us thousands of dollars, we decided maybe we should purchase pet insurance in case of another major injury or illness since he was only 3.5 years old at the time. We were very happy we did because he had an extended illness less than six months later that cost us around $2500. It was not a pre-existing condition so I decided to file a claim and with very little effort on my part, Pets Best was able to review the claim and promptly paid us per the insurance level we selected.
I had my doubts about pet insurance, so I had never purchased it with our previous pets, but this one experience has made a believer out of me. After comparing insurance providers, I thought Pets Best had the best coverage for the monthly premium and would definitely recommend Pets Best to anyone considering pet insurance.

Pets Best has been a godsend for me this year. My puppy has had a chronic condition in one eye that has needed multiple visits with both my regular vet and the eye specialist to try to find the cause. Good insurance but... if you choose a higher deductible mines 500, good thing is when you finally pay your deductible it's 90 percent reimbursement.
Now I wanted to see if I could change my deductible to 250 of course 250 only covers 80% they said I could change it but only when policy was in renewal. The catch is after the renewal your pet cannot have any medical problems of any kind for 1 year from new renewal date. So I say make sure you look close at your policy and ask agent these questions. They say you can change your policy at anytime and you can't
I'll probably look for another pet insurance company. Only because like any policy after year cycle is over you start at the beginning all over again with your deductible .So she can't have any medical issues for a year and I have to start all over again with my deductible. I'll find new company where I can pick a lower deductible .
Plus getting your reimbursement takes to long it's not quick about a month turn around to get your money

Claim submission process is very easy and user-friendly. Review times vary from 1-2 weeks depending on the complexity of the claim issue. Sometimes follow up with veterinarian is necessary so can take a bit longer. Claims have been paid per contract with no funny business. I would definitely recommend.

I recently had a scary experience with my cat, Maslow, who had a urinary blockage. He was in critical condition and things progressed quickly and he was rushed into the ICU for surgery and care.
