You walk into some beautiful wooden floors and scenery. The stunning gelato is on display and makes you want to take it all home. You keep walking to a nice nook that looks perfect for reading. I got a latte and a mini-pizza which were both tasty. Great for a little snack or if you want to enjoy a cozy weekend treat. The other pastries are made fresh and brought out on demand. Definitely coming back and possibly bringing a book to spend a few hours here when it gets more chilly outside.

They have awesome Gelato. And great place to work remotely or read or study. They have a beautiful backyard courtyard with a fountain and gorgeous plants and foliage and blue mosaic tables. And there is additional quiet workspace upstairs, lots of nooks. And the first floor has cool bookshelves and working spaces. They also have snacks.

Tried the Dirty Chai Latte, and the Blueberry Oat Pie Gelato… service was fast, and staff was friendly. That Blueberry gelato was really good! Sorry, Heart was not included by the barista, that was my own doing! 🤣 …

Excellent service. The chocolate oat gelato was incredible! A definite place to visit after dining at one of the incredible ethnic restaurants on South Grand in South Saint Louis. Truth:@ “As you know, no matter how full your is, the gelato will melt and fill in all the open places in your stomach,”a good friend would always tell me.

Wonderful experience. Ordered a dirty chai latte, was able to get my own water bottle refilled, and had a seat on their patio. It was gorgeous weather and the tables are spaced far enough apart that I felt safe taking my mask off to drink the latte. The patio is well-maintained and the tables are clean. The dirty chai was incredible--all the right savory spices to make a drink that was homey but not sweet, plus the kick of a shot of espresso. I went to use their restroom before I left and the hand soap ran out, so I mentioned it at the counter before leaving, and the staff member I spoke to was very gracious and recommended a chai sorbet with espresso over it for the next time! Very welcoming place. Busy as expected on a Sunday afternoon. Hope to enjoy the inside again soon, but I could just live on their patio and be happy as a clam. Oh, also! Shout out for the gender neutral restroom. It's such a small detail but it prevents dysphoria every time someone like me doesn't have to choose which gendered sign feels less risky today. That's a real ally move. 🌈

The atmosphere of this place is rustic and cozy. Their customer service was friendly and upbeat; love the vibes! The Honey Lavender latte was by far my favorite; so smooth and frothy -- rich and delicious! I tried the Lemon Lavender gelato as well as the Butterscotch and to be honest I expected them to be a bit more sweet, but they were still good. Love the different varieties and unique flavor options. But personally, I enjoyed the coffee more than I did the gelato ☕🔥

This is a good spot for a loner. There are several seats that feel cozy and secluded. It’s dimly lit, and homey. The coffee isn’t too expensive, it’s alright. You come here for the gelato and ambiance.

This is really coffee so if you're expecting fast food or gas station coffee, this isn't it. It's the real stuff & made very well. Loved the caramel machiatto I had as well as the brioche with egg & spinach breakfast pastry I had.

If you're looking for a delicious treat or somewhere to sit down with a good book and a cup of coffee, look no further than The Gelateria. This shop is a community staple and the people who work behind the counter are always kind and patient. Gelateria has a great selection of gelato flavors, plus they have a solid selection of beverages and baked goods. (I recommend the London Fog, iced and hot chai latte, and a traditional vanilla latte!) There is plenty of seating available, however, because they have great hours/days open and are located in a popular neighborhood, seating can go quickly. They even have an upstairs where you can find a more quiet corner to read, work, or enjoy your tea in peace. I visit frequently throughout the year and recommend this spot for anyone looking for a coffee shop in St. Louis. I've been to MANY coffee shops in the area and around the country, and I have to say, Gelateria is a favorite of mine. They're accommodating, the environment is laidback, and the customer service is terrific.

I visited this place tonight after having driven past it many times. I stopped tonight and was glad I did. They have two cases of gelato. One had gelato ice creams in it and the other had fruity flavors similar to sherbet. You can sample the flavors that you'd like to try as well. The gelato cups come in small, medium, large and an extra large size. They also sell various kinds of coffees and teas. I'm not a big coffee fan, but they had flavors that had me questioning if I would try some at some point. There was ample seating from the front to the back of the store. There were even built in book cases with books and games throughout the establishment. There was a small section to get free glasses of water which was nice. The prices weren't too high considering the great tasting gelato. I had a vanilla gelato topped with dark chocolate and it was very tasty. It tasted so fresh and light. I loved it. Entering the establishment there is one step up to enter the doors. I was told that there was a back door where customers could enter that was also wheelchair accessible. I didn't go look, but please call the establishment before going if you're wanting confirmation of this place being wheelchair accessible. Their was soulful music playing across the speakers. Overall, this was an awesome place to enjoy some fresh tasting gelato. Definitely check it out if you can. You won't be disappointed. #Tonetta

One of my top places on Grand -- and in the city. The gelato is luscious, the baked good sublime, and the coffee (my coffee-drinking friends tell me) is primo too. The decor is so very warm and inviting and the service is good. Draws a hip crowd in the South Grand tradition.

This is (so far) the only cafe i have visited that is even remotely close to having a good 'cafe' style atmosphere. It is a bit too small for my tastes, however, the back area (with two loveseats) is perfect. its out of sight, quiet, and perfect for working on whatever i have going on, or even just to read a book. Theyre drinkers and pastries are also delicious. If they could expand a bit, plus make the environment more cafe style, more relaxed, then i think it would be wonderful. A cafe is (in my opinion) a location where people can come to relax, read a book, get some work done, and be at peace, whilst having wonderful drinks on hand. This place is 50% of the way there to being just that.

Cute converted space with upstairs seating too. They roast their beans in-house on the 2nd floor (smells fantastic!) I only tried their summer special: Mochi Matcha Latte, and it was light with their in-house sticky rice syrup, however it was pricey ($6 for 8 oz!)

We just had some gelato for dessert after dinner and we highly recommend this place. The gentleman had no issues with us sampling. He also gave us ample portions. We were very happy with each of the four flavors (earl grey, spicy mango, lemon lavendar, raspberry passion fruit) that we ordered. Delicious!

Ok - the coffee AND gelato here are so good! The gelato melts in your mouth and they change the flavors all the time so you can always try something new! And the coffee is great! I wish they had more/better seating options. It’s usually full when I come here to try to work - which is good that they’re busy but not when I have to get stuff done.

Darling little coffee shop right on South Grand. The staff is always so sweet and knowledgeable. Everything I’ve had there is delicious from coffee to pastries to gelato 🤤 Large back patio has immaculate vibes as well. They offer a rewards system as well that gives you free money towards your orders, which is always dope.

Took some friends from out of the country. It was after 10 pm. The locale was cool. Nice feel inside with wood floors and lots of seating. Most folks there were sitting on their computers. The server had little patience with our guests who were new to the experience. The server said the small size included two scoops and we could get different flavors. We finally placed or orders. The Mexican chocolate was very spicy the to the description provided by the server. The other flavors were okay. But what we disappointing are the setting sizes. The two "scoops" totaled what I expect to be one scoop. One of our guests had an espresso which he found disappointing, not even finishing his cup.

I love the coziness of this place! And that they stay open until 8, love that! However, since Covid, they have radically less seating. Duh, I know that's because of Covid, less numbers means less chance of contact with others, less chance of the spread of Covid. However.... there's just not enough seating! As one of the only coffee shops in town that doesn't close at 5, it's annoying that you can't actually find a seat to study/work.

Love this place, we're regulars! The gelato is delicious, but for me the highlight is the beverage menu. Hands down, best London Fog in town. Great upper level for quiet study, and patio in the back when the weather is nice. Pastries and food options are great as well! Not to be missed.

This coffee shop in my opinion is one of the Best overall. Their staff is friendly. Their coffee is great. Pastries are fresh. Gelato is good quality and they always have a variety. They have an upstairs for people that like it quiet and if they want to study. People can also have meetings upstairs. There are no excess noises or music upstairs. Downstairs is nice and cozy with nice quality chairs and sofa chairs. They also have a beautiful backyard so you can sit outside and enjoy the weather while enjoying what they have to offer. A couple of weeks ago I bought myself a coffee and Muffin, also ordered one for the homeless guy outside. The clerk did not even charge me for the muffin for the homeless guy. He did not have to do that, it was very nice of him. Their staff is very welcoming and friendly. keep up the good work!

The coffee is probably some of the best in the area, especially the iced coffee. For those who prefer non-caffeine drinks, get the hot chocolate in the winter. Very good and not too sweet. The locally made baked goods and pastries (muffins, torts, scones) are worth it. The hours are great - open early and late. Interior is a charming space with a nice outdoor patio, and great study/meeting areas upstairs. Friendly staff as well.

The gelato here was really refreshing and delicious. This is a great place to study and has a back patio with fountain to enjoy during the day or night. Upstairs there are 3 rooms which can be reserved for group meetings or study sessions.

A nice, low light and chill coffee shop with a hipster feel. Disappointed that there were only muffins and scones in the evening, no specialty crossaints from the pictures that lured me there. Come early for the better pastries. The gelato was a little icy, but there are many fun flavors to choose from, such as London Fog and Ginger. Enjoyed a very rich hot chocolate that was delicious.

This place has excellent whipped cream topped hot chocolate. I have also had the salted caramel gelato that tasted marvelous. What I enjoy most about Gelateria is the quiet spaces on the second floor. The rooms can be reserved for Meetups and/conferences. Several college students use it to study. I think it's an awesome place to write and I visit at least twice per month. Gelateria also sells coffee and pastries.

Good coffee and I really admire that on a freezing day they were friendly and welcoming to people who don't have a home and needed community resources to stay safe. The one employee gave a man something warm to drink and advised him on homeless shelters, it really is a model for a cafe that, like Mokabes as well, is part of the South Grand community and acts like it.

Cute little place! But sadly they only had a few flavors to choose from. You can tell they normally have more flavors because there were plenty of empty metal containers in the display area. It also seemed pricey for what you got.

Yummy, homemade gelato and a selection of coffee. A personal favorite for their comfy seating, neighborhood vibe, and their free-to-reserve meeting rooms upstairs. Most of the rooms are converted living rooms with authentic fireplaces. A cozy place to cuddle up with a book on a rainy day.

I first started coming here in 2013, and even though all of the staff are different, basically everything else is the same. Absolutely delicious gelato and coffee with a quiet Euro aesthetic. Gelatos are rich and creamy. London Fog was a real winner. Sorbets are light and vibrant, intensely fruit forward without the cloying sweetness of mass produced varieties. Espresso is smooth and biting with just enough bitterness, and is priced extremely competitively. Perfect quiet and affordable place for a sweet treat and a coffee to end a night out.

Tantrum Niche

Saint Louis, and even Grand specifically, has no shortage of quality coffee available, though Gelataria Del Leone is the king of the concrete java jungle on that street. They are never overcrowded, always fast, cozy, roomy, reasonably priced, independent, and always play good and diverse music every time I'm in there. The coffee is so good, and it goes well with the gelato and/or baked goods they also offer. They occasionally have gluten-free stuff, though Celiac disease sufferers may bemoan the cross-contamination. They have good, free, fast, no BS WiFi, too- as well as outdoor seating and a built in library of games and books. Other places nearby are good too, but they are more crowded, slower, and cost more. When you need a coffee on South Grand, and maybe something delicious to accompany it- this joint is the joint.

Lots of interesting gelato flavors like "London Fog" which has Earl Gray and vanilla. Cozy furnishings and atmosphere and a decent cup of coffee. There is other stuff on the menu like calzones but I haven't tried those yet. Might get the chance soon.

This is one of those places I wish I could teleport to and spend every day in for a period of time. I have been there for live music at night in the little patio garden and during the day for a hot chocolate. This is a place of dreams. You can study, work, play games, read. The have beautiful book shelves with books, puzzles, board games. Best gelato I have had yet!

I got together with my mother-in-law, Ms. H, at Gelateria! It was a rainy, gloomy afternoon, so it's cozy interior was particularly inviting. At the front of the shop, along the large windows, are comfy leather chairs and a short radiator that keeps the nook warm. Once Ms. H arrived, we looked over the Calzone Menu. I ordered the Italiano and Ms. H ordered Sausage. However, right after we paid, the girl at the counter told me they were out of the Italiano and actually only had Maiale and Sausage. I disappointed to have to change and frustrated that the change in menu hadn't been noted on the board. However, when my Maiale Calzone finally came out a little less than ten minutes later, I had no regrets - it was delicious! The menu tells me that my calzone contained ham and pepperoni, but I have to say that the meat I saw looked more like sausage. Not that it bothered me - I was too busy enjoying the flavor. The ricotta had a fluffy texture and the dough wasn't what I expected. It was like pizza dough meets a flaky pie crust and I loved it! It was buttery and delicious! Unfortunately, Ms. H didn't like her calzone as much as I liked mine - she said it lacked flavor and needed quite a bit of salt and pepper. I also opted to get some gelato for dessert, but I have to say that it wasn't quite as good as my calzone. I tried four flavors - Oreo Cream, Ginger, Sweet Potato and Blueberry Cheesecake. I'm beginning to learn that I just don't like gelato as much as ice cream - the lower fat content means it's not as creamy as I want it to be. And this particular gelato was very mild and not terribly sweet - I really wish it had been more flavorful. But after a few bits of particular flavor, I seemed to taste it less and less. I will say that the Blueberry Cheesecake was the strongest and therefore my favorite. On the whole, this is a pretty great place. Very friendly service, large tables the are perfect for groups and file cabinets full of games, cards and coloring books!

We are gelato snobs and they had one of the best gelato we had in the states. It was close to what we had in Italy, not the tourist one. A little disappointed that we couldn't find bloody orange, champaign, pear, or chestnut flavor but more common blackberry, blueberry, lime, and mango flavors they had were very fresh and all natural. Out favorite was London Fog (with Earl Grey)! It was good by itself, but went really well with a big flavor like blackberry. Don't let the tiny cup fool you. The portion was more than generous and the staff was very friendly and provided all the request of flavor samples. Pastry and coffee looked good, but that's for another day!

Great place, I specifically go for the Myan Chocolate. I usually get a cup for now and a pint for later. Unfortunately today they had none, not even any chocolate. The pickings were slim to say the least. Maybe an off night, next time I will call ahead considering it's about a 20 minute drive.

Great drinks and gelato! Specifically, the Caffe Americano is very flavorful without being overly bold. The atmosphere is cozy, and I love pulling a book off the shelf when feeling curious. The staff is awesome: friendly and pleasant. They even respect a lost Cubs fan. Great for after dinner on Grand.

Subscription Services

Nice ambiance for coffee, reading, games, etc. Not a huge fan of the gelato. It always seems to be lacking the punch of flavor that gelato normally has. It's fine if you're on South Grand and want to grab a bite of something sweet that's on the lighter side, but if you are looking for a more traditional gelato, I would recommend Gelato Do Riso on the Hill.

Typically delicious. Sometimes the barista on duty is lazy, does not forth the milk right, and gives you a latte with bubbles in it. This pretty much the opposite of a latte with a pretty design on top. It changes the mouthfeel of the drink, which stinks for 6 bucks, including tip.
