WOW! That’s all I can say. I had heard about the “custard” in Saint Louis, but I was wondering how good can this frozen treat be…. Mr. Wizard’s was one of the better frozen sweets I’ve had. They have custards, sundaes, and “concrete.” That last one is the same as their custard except the toppings are mixed into the middle of the custard. I imagine that’s how everyone wants it, anyways. I got the “S’mores” concrete with a vanilla base, but my friends got some of the chocolate base custards. With a consistency somewhere between froyo and ice cream, it was thick enough where you felt the consistency, but not so thick that you had the struggle to scoop or bite it. In terms of price, a “small” portion is fine for a nice small treat, but if there are two or more, I’d suggest a medium. It’s only a dollar or so more, but I’d say 3X as much custard. Definitely a value, but a large did not seem much bigger than a medium. Overall, such a delicious frozen treat with a great price in a cool setting.

I've been going to Mr. Wizard's for years and I love it! I can't handle the heavy custard at Ted Drew's..I always get frozen yogurt here. It really tastes like ice cream. The strawberry and brownie concrete (flaking on the name!) is my fave and my husband likes the Hawaiian one. Yummy! Please tip the teenagers working there, they deserve it! And no, my dog Kevin didn't get any but he did get his favorite treats when he got home. 😉

My family and I come here all the time. If you like custard it is hard to beat them. The prices are amazing compared to other custard establishments. You can even order kiddie cones insanely cheap for the little ones. Definitely make this place a regular stop.

GMA showed me this staple of Saint Louis. I always get the turtle turtle. The staff are always very chill. The owner from what I heard is a great guy my GMA and him got a thing 😂 joking. Overall I love it more then another place I've gone since my child hood. The icecream is amazing. And they do sell Christmas trees in the winter so stop by get a custard and maybe a tree this winter ❄️. Don't just take my word for it. Try it for yourself cuz the wizard 🪄 custard and ice cream is a dream that melts in your mouth.

Rating: 4.7 Stars After multiple visits to Clementine's, I started really craving custard. A quick Google search yielded Mr. Wizard's Frozen Custard and Yogurt. I decided to drive to Maplewood to give it a try, and I am glad that I did. On my first visit, I ordered a Vanilla Custard Cone. The custard was magical (bad pun-intended), and it had excellent sweetness and flavor. The cone was fresh and tasty too. I was also impressed with the portion size! While perusing the menu at my first visit, I noticed that they offer Banana Pudding as an option for either a Concrete or Sundae. Naturally, I had to return the next week to try this. I really enjoyed the Banana Pudding Concrete. The banana was sweet and ripe, and the vanilla wafers were fresh. These components complemented the custard nicely for a very tasty sweet treat. Lastly, the staff was nice both times. I am glad that I got to try Mr. Wizard's Frozen Custard and Yogurt. While I never go to Maplewood, I now have a magical (bad pun-intended, again) reason to return!

One of, if not the best ice cream/custard locations in St Louis! In the past few years, I've even started to prefer Mr. Wizard's to Ted Drewes, I think Ted Drewes started to use more fillers and less actual ice cream, but Mr. Wizard's is still just as good as I remember

My favorite frozen custard place and I'm so happy they are open during these hard times. My husband and I were driving by and saw they were open and it put the biggest smile on our faces. We had to stop and get some tasty treats. Everyone had on gloves and mask, but still so warm and friendly.

I've loved this place since I was a kid in Dogtown! Still the best frozen custard in the city. Its best getting a chocolate waffle cone and eating it on a hot summer day sitting on a tailgate, but the take home quarts are great too! So good I waited 40 min for them to open today just to get some, totally worth it.

If you like frozen custard, the Wizard is a good place to visit. I prefer concretes, but sundaes look good too. My favorite concrete so far is the German chocolate concrete, made with chocolate custard. But I have plenty more to try.

Great place for ice cream late at night. Super fast service and their sizes are huge for what you pay for -- kills the competition. Local business, I love their custard here. Make sure you get 'The Wizard' concrete, it's amazing. Keep in mind there is a minimum when paying with card -- I suggest paying with cash.

Incredible custard. I know it's blasphemous to say, but this place is better than Ted Drew's. Edit: years later and this still holds true. This place is tops. My go to is a chocolate concrete with peanut butter and Reece's cups. Unbelievable.

Ohhhhh! Do the dance. It's guuuuud! I love the frozen custard and frozen yogurt. Dip cones great but could use a second dip. Just saying. Raspberry sundaes sublime. Anything turtle is fabulous and makes me crazy. I hear the Oreo concretes are amazing. My absolute favorite is a vanilla custard sundae with pecans and Heath Bar. Just plain old any of it in a cup with a spoon is fine by me. You can purchase plain quarts to take home. Parking is dreadful and the lines can be, too. Service is slow but it's worth the wait. If you want quick and insipid, go to Dairy Queen. Last time we visited it was during a storm and about 40 degrees outside. Definitely worth it!!

I live about 5 blocks away, and I have no idea how I manage to not go there every day. Awesome frozen custard. As good as, if not better than Ted Drewes, but without the line. If you live nearby, avoid the new chain Andy's going in on Hanley and stick with the locally owned Mr. Wizard's!

I just ordered with my girlfriend two of the most delicious custard dishes hers was a turtle sundae with cheesecake toppings and mine was a s'mores concrete with cheesecake Blended together perfectly absolutely amazing will come back and recommend this place to everybody . And you could see everything that they were doing in there through the windows and it's very clean considering how old the building is. #LegionofBoom

It's not much to look at but always has quick service. When you don't want to fight the crowds at [another frozen custard St. Louis staple], Mr. Wizard's is perfect. I can't say that ALL of the staff if particularly friendly, but most are. Lastly - read the 'how to order' sign, otherwise you'll be "Soup Nazi'd" right out of line.

Frozen custard ... how can one go wrong? Frozen custard is a delicious and necessary part of a balanced diet, and Mr. Wizard's hits the spot on a hot summer day. This is your basic St. Louis setup; parking lot, building, water cooler, and a few tables. Each St. Louis custard stand's products have a slightly different taste, and although I doubt I could choose a favorite, I will say that Mr. Wizard's custard is quite tasty!

They have a new location open in Affton (South County) and it definitely gives Ted Drewes a run for their money. I love TD's but when they're swamped you get shorted on already expensive custard that is served up soupy. Wizards is rarely as busy as TD's and staff is always super nice. Prices are comparable to other ice cream/custard locations in St. Louis. Plus they're usually pretty generous with their servings :). Love this place!!!

I have been going to Mr. Wizards ever since I was a kid and I have TONS of great memories of eating there; whether it involves eating there with my family when I was young, to going to Mr. Wizards with my friends after playing baseball, or when going to Mr. Wizards when I had my first girlfriend. I have many sweet memories of going to Mr. Wizards to get ice cream and I can say that Mr. Wizards IS an excellent place for the above things; especially for kids. It could be a place that they'd remember! It is also a very romantic spot too. Take your girlfriend or boyfriend here. The area is quiet, located around trees; it is in the beautiful area of Maplewood, and it is a very cozy outdoor place. Thus, the above things are the GREATEST things about Mr. Wizards Also, Mr. Wizards is considered a landmark Ice Cream place throughout St. Louis. That is, people visit the St. Louis Arch, the Science Center, Forest Park, etc. and Mr. Wizards is another places that people visit when they come into town. Their Ice Cream IS delicious and I enjoyed most of what they had on their menu. The ONLY drawback to Mr. Wizards is they are EXPENSIVE!!! At Mr. Wizards, it costed around $3 for a small Ice Cream, etc. I enjoyed it but gosh!! So, buying Ice Cream or anything at Mr. Wizards would mostly be good for the experience i.e., building memories with friends, family, loved ones, etc. and one has to decide if it's worth buying Ice Cream simply for the experience. In some cases, this could be a hard decision because the experience of bonding at Mr. Wizards can be beautiful! Otherwise, cheaper Ice Cream and GOOD ice cream could be bought elsewhere. Thus, I LOVE Mr. Wizards and I LOVE being in the Maplewood area, but Mr. Wizards prices are CRAZY and it is the only thing that stops Mr. Wizards from getting a 5/5 rating.

Live in Maplewood and visit Mr. Wizard's often in the summer and early fall. Not sure what the previous two reviews were about but we have never had a bad experience here. Portions are generous and pricing is right...tbh I don't see what the big fuss over TD is. Even if you don't like Wizard's, there's a million other custard places in and around STL with better food, service, and pricing than TD and Wizard's is, imho, the best. Cookie dough with reeses and pistachios is my favorite!!
