Reviews of Ices Plain & Fancy
Leslie Smith
Such cool flavors! And they mix up the ice cream in front of you with their liquid nitrogen, and it makes the ice cream so smooth!
The Butter Pecan ice cream had SO many pecans!
The Sump Coffee ice cream was so rich and strong (no bitterness!), it almost tasted like there was some chocolate in it (there was not).
Some freaking good ice cream, so make the trip and don’t pass it by!
Danielle G.
This is a MUST if you’re visiting St Louis!
It’s a science experiment gone totally right.
They mix the ice cream right in front of you with liquid nitrogen! It’s smooth, delicious, cold … what more could you ask for??
I had the rocky road and it was what dreams are made of. Tell ‘em I sent you… they won’t have a clue what you’re talking about but we’ll all have a good laugh!
Brian Miller
The mint chip was so good here! This little neighborhood establishment has some of the most amazing ice cream you'll find anywhere! The method of preparing is unlike anything I've ever seen! This place was recommended by my buddy who lives in the area and is one where you go if you want to try something that the locals know and love!
diana toler
Worth the wait! This ice cream was so smooth and delicious! It was cool to see it made right in front of you from real ingredients. Those folks were hopping! Tip well my friends!
Crystal Burke
Such a cute place and delicious ice cream! We tried the boozy and the regular and they were delish!! I had the Ancho and Lefty and my husband had the rocky road. Will definitely stop back in when we're in the area!
John Gaughan
I absolutely love this location and their ice cream. Great environment with a local/small biz / neighborhood feel. Taste and product quality is excellent. Everything made fresh on demand and they’re fast about it. Cannot recommend them enough. My #1 ice cream pick in St Louis, hands down.
Erik “E-Money” Seitz
Definitely a cool place that’s for sure…
High quality ingredients, solid flavors and they made, smoked the ice cream right in front of us!!! I mean that’s pretty legit.
Johnathon Rose-Lyon
It's one of those places that's so good that I never wanna try new flavors, because that'll make deciding what to get even more excruciating. The cookies & cream is the best I've ever had, and the boozy "Frozen Dude" will be the tastiest thing that's ever given you a buzz. An absolutely gorgeous space, and a wonderful spot of the city for going on a little ice cream walk. I love every part of it 👌👌
Elizabeth King
It’s so much fun to watch them mix up your ice cream with the stand mixers and dry ice. And the ice cream is always amazing. I love the seasonal cheesecake and my husband always gets one of the boozy offerings.
C Lynn
You may have to wait but it’s worth it. Super fresh and very frozen treats. Fun to watch them work with the Nitrous. 21+ try the boozy ones. I love the Frozen Dude. Cherry Not so Cordial too.
Umar Durrani
Fun little place with the whole nitrogen ice cream concept that's been going around the last 7 years or so. Docking off points for two reasons.
1) Limited Flavor Options. Wish there was a mix-in concept like cold stone or some of the other nitro ice cream places.
2) Long wait time. Make sure to bring a talkative friend because you'll be hanging around for a bit!
Jess W
Such a good time at Ices tonight! They have curbside pickup which is super easy and contactless. You order online and they’ll come out and call you when ready. Ice cream is super fresh & light tasting. I loved the cherry ice cream flavor & mint! You can also choose non dairy base if you prefer!
Phil Eckelkamp
We love this neighborhood ice cream place and will often go on a walk when the weather is nice. We love "the dude" and mixing in some booze with girl scout cookies, but we made a special trip in the middle of winter for "ice cream for breakfast" day. Let me tell you, you need donut drive in with Ices in your life. Go and become a regular so you can appreciate these events even more. The staff always hustles, the menu is always innovative, and it's a great staple in the neighborhood.
Candice Howard
We loved this place! They make the ice cream with liquid nitrogen right in front of your eyes with lots of unique blend ins like apple butter and s'more ingredients. Delicious ice cream and a very cool experience!
Tucker Butler
No quarantine hardship will stop this awesome ice cream shop from serving up tasty frozen desserts! Located in Shaw Park, Ices is creating delicious ice cream using liquid nitrogen and a variety of flavor combinations. The menu has your traditional flavors like vanilla and chocolate , but if you are feeling adventurous there is also recipes using Girl Scout cookies and even ones that have booze in them (21+ of course). The staff takes your order from the door and then disinfects the register and area after each transaction, going above and beyond to make sure infection prevention is maintained! They will even take your order and payment over the phone and bring your ice cream out to you. I can’t wait to step inside this cool ice cream shop once the quarantine order is lifted. If you feel like venturing out to get an amazing ice cream treat make sure to check out Ices!
Tracy Engle
I love the non-dairy German chocolate ice cream here! 😋 …
Devin Durdin
Should've owned stock when this place first opened!!! So fun to watch AND delicious. Vegan options. Dog cones! Boozy treats! Local collabs with Breweries and restaurants. Good sizes for prices. Happy to be able to support them during this time! Online ordering ONLY and p/u!

You must come in for one if the most interesting ice cream churning experience you’ve ever had!
They have something for the kids, for the puppies, the legal drinking adults, & everyone in between!
Always try the seasonal options! My personal favorite is the S’mores! If only there was smell-o-vision then you would know why I recommend it!
They are open late during the summer!

The icecream tasted the same as other places. There really wasnt anything super special about it. It is fun to watch it being made, but not worth the cost in my opinion. The employees were super friendly and the place was clean. It is small on the inside but they have a nice outdoor patio too. They also offer alcoholic beverages mixed with the icecream. .
Terry Gold
Smoother than smooth. You must taste to understand! The taste is a thick buttery vibe that is very cold, yet slides closer to a velvety finish. This ice cream is simply royal. Not only is the initial taste overwhelmingly good, for some unknown reason the nitrogen omission makes me feel healthier with the always reassuring and deluxe aftertaste. In layman’s terms, you will LOVE Ices Plain & Fancy. I’ve tried just about all the flavors and that Dreamsicle is in a class of its own. I added pineapples to it last week. Set me right for the weekend. I’ll be back soon.
Mary Trujillo
The nitro ice cream was legendary! Love all their options. Very unique and tasty
Hsinju Chen
Their ice cream is so good I LOVE it!!!
I was visiting STL and since it was near the place I was staying at, I decided to give it a shot. Not only did I go once, but TWICE during my 43-hour trip!
I got strawberry cheesecake on my first visit, and I love how they put all the ingredients together: digestive biscuit crumbs on the bottom with more crumbs on top of the ice cream as well as sweetened strawberries. I didn't know it could be so good.
During my second visit, I decided to try out the vegan German chocolate, and it was amazing as well. Not as fancy as the strawberry cheesecake if we are comparing the toppings, but the flavour is just as good. The chocolate was very rich and the coconut cream did not take over the overall flavour and it was just surprisingly awesome.
If I ever go back to STL, this ice cream shop would be the first place I want to revisit.
Oh, and did I say they use nitro right in front of your eyes???
Elyssa Z.
Delicious! Loved how they made it fresh and had vegan options. Also loved how their vegan options included soy! I prefer soy over coconut so that was a wonderful surprise. We got the mint chip soy and a peach sorbet. Both were really good.
Andrew Wos
They make ice cream using liquid nitrogen right in front of you! So awesome, and delicious. Great service too. Come before 8 on weekends though because it gets packed. They also make alcoholic ice cream treats. Only cons from me were at least 5 flies inside by the tables, and no small cups, i thought their regular sizes were a bit too big. But the ice cream is amazing.
Rhonda Fischer
If you ever in the area, make sure to check out Ices Plain & Fancy. The ice cream is simply AMAZING! They have an alcohol infused treat if that’s something you like. The staff was super friendly, fun and very patient as we made our choices. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed. ❤️
Psycho_Cypher (Psycho_Cypher)
Pretty awesome little ice cream shop. They make the ice cream right Infront of you with liquid nitrogen. It doesn't take too long even with a line out the door. They have 8 or so flavors. I went with the chocolate peanut butter and loved it. Definitely a fun place to get a sweet treat when you are in the area.
Hello Gregory
Really, you haven’t gone yet? What is stopping you? Nitrogen made, boozy or family friendly spoon bending flavors. Historic area, Missouri botanical gardens close by. Again how many reasons do you need? Handmade, nitrogen, blowtorch, great tasting, booze for those who want to. A cool old time space to eat ice cream with outdoor seating when the weather allows. Just go, if you like ice cream you will love this place!
Joshua Lolling
Everything here is amazing. The Sump Cold Brew is incredible and a must if you’re a coffee addict, but their other treats like this seasonal blackberry pie sundae are delicious too.
brian burke
The 1st time having ice cream made like this and I and I have to say it was delicious! Not only that but it was fun to watch them make it. The place was very clean and the people were very friendly and attentive. Wish I lived in the neighborhood I would have a new favorite ice cream place.
Scott Schreiner
Unique process to create ice cream from a time before refrigeration! Delicious non-dairy options are available plus doggy flavors in addition to the amazing standard and special flavors. Enjoyed a non-dairy version of German chocolate; she had one of the specials of the day, blueberry cheesecake flavored (regular). Will make this a regular stop!
Boram Chris Kim
The experience was so cool and the ice cream texture and flavor was unreal! I don't have sweet tooth and don't enjoy ice cream, but new experience is something I can't pass. Kids had chocolate and dreamsicle flavor and we just shared something called Sump Pump (soft ice cream mixed with ground coffee beans from a local coffee company). We love all three flavors, especially dreamsicle and sump pump. We didn't try boozy ice cream, but saw other people's one. The ice cream texture was just like frozen custard, but it didn't have any after taste of sugar. Loved every bite and minute at Ices Plain & Fancy. The staff was very friendly, too.
Rachel B
My ice cream was pretty great. Though my husband did not appreciate his. The price is about the same as cold stone creamery. You may end up with a table if you have people with you and order for them while they get a spot to sit. Other wise, plan on standing or leaving after you get the ice cream. Will update further soom.
Nathan Wallace
The smoked smores and the spiked hot chocolate was the perfect ending for a great night. Great place for a special treat. We will definitely return.
Daniela Gaudino
I travel the World 🌏 365 days but when I can I run here. They have THE BEST hot chocolate even if Sadly they weren't serving it today ( I believe because the weather is still nice and hot)
When I was working for the airline I used to fly to STL just to get the hot chocolate here and fly back!
Aharon Adi
One of the best ice cream places I’ve ever seen!
Olive the vibe!
jennifer dearlove
Super cool experience! Each serving is made to order. They have several dairy free alternatives which is fantastic when you have a child with a dairy intolerance. They were friendly and knowledgeable and have mean skills of working with nitrogen and blow torches. Must see to understand.
Ben K
A local recommended this for dessert. It was worth the drive. Nice selection with many different flavors to choose from. The kiddos will love watching their ice cream getting made. It was crazy how smooth the ice cream was. When in doubt ask a local haha.
Tay Litty
Cool, casual experience. Cinnamon tastes exactly like a snickerdoodle cookie, cookies & cream has the perfect amount of crunch and creamy icecream, the chocolate is luscious and smooth, and the mint chip is the perfect balance of chocolate and mint.
It will be a problem for my waistline to live so close to this neighborhood favorite!
Justin Lipner
Excellent and unique! Lovely unique texture and smooth and flavorful. I got the pumpkin cheesecake.
Victoria Macgregor
It was possibly the best ice-cream I have ever had. Made to order in a mixer with nitrogen! Would love to try the boozy ice cream next time. Serving size was ample!
Brittany Butler
I love this place. The ice cream is made right in front of you and the flavors are amazing.
Lisa Whelpley
This is the best ice cream we've had in our entire lives..
Coleen Hill
Such a fun ice cream experience! My grandson has an extreme milk allergy and they are extremely careful using sanitized utensils to make is dairy free ice cream treat. We love going to Ices Plain and Fancy!
Tyler Friedrich
Phenomenal. I thought maybe the nitro fad propped this place up, but it stands on pure flavor 100%. They had a seasonal strawberry cheesecake that was rich and decedent, and topped with some of the best tasting strawberries I’ve had. 10/10.
jodie webb
Best ice cream around. So smooth, so creamy, so much flavor. Staff made fresh, tasty waffle cones for us at the end of the night - would give 6 stars if I could.
Josh Wallace
Delicious ice cream. The flavor integration was unlike anything I've ever had. I highly recommend going for something different. The cheesecake specialty was especially intriguing. I thought for sure I was eating cheesecake bites at first. Well done!
Benjamin Geist
This is the most unique and fun ice cream I’ve ever had! The campfire s’mores is actually “smoky” which is cool. The cherry cheesecake tastes as good as real (and good) cheesecake with a great graham cracker crust.
And my wife was happy so you know it was worth it!
Charles R. Sledge
Was in awe! Never seen Ice Cream prepared in that fashion. Really an experience in service. Very quiet and neighborly atmosphere. My new place to treat my special Lady
Benton Boice
Whoa! Ice Cream made with liquid nitrogen, I'm impressed... add alcohol and it is even better. I tried "The Dude" and it was an awesome White Russian concoction. I look forward to this voodoo again someday.
Erinn Shaver
Darling atmosphere. Menu is varied and is posted outside (as well as in)so you can decide before going inside. Staff is friendly. While we were there, we saw a wide range of ages come and enjoy ice cream. They have boozy flavors too; the one my hubby tried was delicious!
Sharyl Dawson
I went last night with my husband, sister and brother in law. Glad to see plenty of customers both inside and outside. I had the seasonal Thin Mint ice cream and it was great! Chocolate ice cream with a thin mint cookie and small chocolate pieces! My sister had her ice cream in a crispy flavorful waffle cone, for sure worth the extra $1 they charge! And the seasonal blue berry cheesecake actually had a huge piece of cake in it just over flowing the bowl with blueberries! If you live in the City you are so lucky to have such a great ice cream shop by you and.if you live in the County, it's well worth the trip!
Rida Zahra
Love their ice creams. They do them so well. I have tried dulce de leche, strawberry cheesecake and cookies and cream.
They were all very yummy and creamy
Paul Shaver
Some of the best ice cream I've had in a long time.
Natalie D
First time here and we will definitely be back - my partner got plain vanilla and I had the nondairy german chocolate (which I would be tempted to get again if I didn't want to try a boozy flavor next time). Texture and flavor was amazing, super creamy and smooth, and not too sweet. The employees up front were all working nonstop to get orders out quickly. Great serving size for the price. Close enough to the park if you want to stroll and eat, or there are tables outside.
Timothy Nichols
Very creamy and delicious! Cant go wrong if you're craving ice cream. It also helps their cool factor that they make your ice cream right there with liquid nitrogen! Mmmmmmmmmmm
Rebecca Jones
I finally had the opportunity to enjoy delicious ice cream from Ices Plain & Fancy yesterday! I have been wanting to get down there since they opened, but never made the time. It was every bit as good as I heard! We tried the mint chip, peanut butter & chocolate and the chocolate. Each one was absolutely delicious! I cannot wait to go again when we are able to go inside & see it made, as currently, they are closed to dine in. I will say, they have a great system & KUDOS to ICE’s for keeping their staff safe & business open!
Dennis Biggs
Campfire ice cream! Literally amazing!
Rachel Thurman
I had the nitro salted dulce de leche and a hot chocolate. They were so good! The nitro ice cream was so smooth and creamy. The hot chocolate was rich and quite chocolatey.
My friend got the campfire smores. When she opened the lid there was smoke that came from the ice cream. Such a great presentation! Everything was delicious. 10/10 highly recommend.
Dan Condra
I'm all about that smores flavor. The injection of smoke into the container is chefs kiss.
Brittany Mitchell
It was such a cool expierence! Very tasty! I chose their eggnog flavor that time. Ive been telling all of my friends and have plans to stop in again, I can't wait to try something different!
Michael Donini
We got a Ok, Fine! And Chocolate Chip ice cream. It taste delicious both of them. I wish this place were better known. I only found out because of a co-worker.
Liza T (Liza)
Best ice cream I've ever had. Not too sweet and fun flavors!
Jac Schulze
Always a delight to see the clever flavors they offer. Great, cozy yet funky decor.
Troy Danner
It was ice cream. It was good. It was 12.00 for two regular servings. I am old fashioned, so the cost was a little above average. Try it out.
Stanley McCaslin
They use liquid nitrogen to make ice cream to order. Nice variety, both alcoholic and non. I had Sazerac ice, it was topped with Peychauds bitters and an orange twist. My wife had Thin Mint, topped but an actual Girl Scout Cookie.
It has been over a year, we made the exact same order. Next time we will try to order something different, there really are a number of tempting ices on offer. My wife almost ordered the Rocky Road, but couldn't resist the Thin Mint.
Lindsey H
Went on “Ice cream for breakfast day.” Enormous portions with high quality ingredients. Definitely one of the best ice cream spots in town.
Emma Seidel
Seriously creamy and dreamy ice cream. Not the cheapest, but worth it. The seasonal cheesecake ice creams are especially good, as are the boozy ice creams! OK Fine deserves a shout out as well. It's horchata+fruit loop and somehow it just works so well.
The Joyces
We have been checking out ice cream places throughout the St. Louis area while here on vacation. Ices Plain & Fancy is by far our favorite one! Love the flavors and the smooth texture of the ice cream! So glad we found you!
Christopher G
Butter pecan was amazing!!
Jason Dove
The staff is amazing! Very knowledgeable and friendly! We stopped by on a recommendation and are so glad we did! The selection is so unique, there is definitely something for everyone! If that isn't enough watching the process will not disappoint, it was truly amazing!!! Then came the best part, eating the finished product!¡!¡ It was the smoothest ice cream I have ever tasted hands down! Still had a long drive ahead so picked up The Back Up. If you love coffee I highly recommend it! Back home safe and sound and wishing we had a local Ices!!!!
Jean
Surprise! They have alcohol on the menu. You can come in and have cocktails while the kids have some Nitro ice. The employees were polite and efficient and the bathroom was immaculate.
Greg Murphy
We don't find ourselves in this area of town very often, but the next time we do we'll definitely be back! Cool experience to get to watch it being made and even more delicious to eat it!
Molly Mutschler
This ice cream place is unique and delicious. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and creaminess of their ice cream, since they make it right in front of you using liquid nitrogen and also a blow torch (to keep it from sticking to the mixing bowl?). I was worried it might have hard crystallized bits, but it was perfectly smooth. However, we did have to wait about 35 minutes to get it, since there were about 8 people ahead of us when we arrived and they go through the whole process of assembling ingredients, making the ice cream base, adding mix-ins, scooping it out, and topping it, all while you are waiting there. I think it was a delicious treat, but we chose not to go back on Friday night when we drove up and saw a line of 20 people!
Brian Montgomery Jr
This place is awesome and the staff is legit. The audits always get the frozen dude with cookies and cream. It is everything you want in ice cream.
The kiddos get the kid version of that but they live watching the show of making the I've cream.
I low key like it too 🤣. Stop by if you want a fun place to take kids go on a date, or just want to have a delicious treat. You won't be disappointed. 💯
Alexander Rogers
Watching the ice cream being made is amazing, no matter how many times you see it. The flavors are great and some have booze, what else could you want?
Joel Fehr
The liquid nitrogen makes the ice cream so smooth. Definitely recommend this place!
Maria Gonzalez
Friendly staff, Had to order online even though I showed up in person. Ordered the mint chocolate chip. The ice cream was very soft and creamy but the chocolate bits left me with a very bitter after taste.
John Michael Rotello
Super fun way to experience ice cream. Great for kids as well. They make the ice cream from scratch with liquid nitrogen. Inventive flavors.
Ryan Freeland
What a cool ice cream place! Although a little pricey, the ice cream is amazing. It's very creamy and the texture is consistently smooth down to the bottom of the cup. They also provide some entertainment and showmanship making the ice cream with clouds of nitrogen floating in the air.
Larra Kelly
Offers delicious vegan and dairy free ice creams, the only thing I wish they did was offer more vegan flavors! (Their options are great, but sparse compared to their dairy ice menu.) They also have a great patio and dog ice cream that makes Ices a great place to visit in the warmer months with our dogs.
My only note for vegans or those with lactose allergies would be to make sure to ask that they use a fresh paddle to scoop your ice cream as I’ve watched them scoop my friend’s dairy ice cream and then use the same paddle to scoop mine. It was minor enough that it didn’t upset my stomach, but those with more severe dairy allergies might want to be careful.
Johnny Kehr
I’ve lived in STL for only 2 months and I’ve been to Ices 4 or 5 times already. That’s all you need to know
Dan V
Great ice cream and it is fun to watch it getting made. I usually get the chocolate, cookies and cream, or chocolate peanut butter ice creams. My wife likes to try the seasonal specials. I haven’t tried the boozy flavors. They take credit. There is a bit of seating inside and some outside. The line can be long, but I think it is worth waiting.
Thomas Locke
I love this place. Very good ice cream. And very nice employees. I highly recommend this place. If I could give more than 5 stars I will
Jennifer Tilman
I wish I had a photo to leave with my review, but I ate it too fast!!!! Literally the best ice cream I've ever had. No surprise there since they make it fresh from scratch in front of you. Any cheesecake ice cream is my #1 favorite, this places puts others to shame. Not to mentioned they thoughtfully put gram crackers on the bottom and on top with FRESH blueberries and blueberry syrup. I was in heaven. My boyfriend's peach cobble was equally as good and my dogs devoured their sweet potato ice cream pup cup that we brought home for them. LOVE THIS PLACE. The staff were so sweet and attentive as well. Thank you! We'll be back!
Krissi Parsons
I love the seasonal rotation of options. So happy for my favorite girl scout cookie to be one of them.
Kevin Hazen
Despite the very unassuming appearance, this place has some amazing ice cream - and you can watch them make it right there in front of you too! Wide variety of very delicious flavors. If you're planning to get in out of the heat though, be warned - it's a small place and there's not a lot of spots inside to sit.
Jen West
In the fall and winter months I'm all about the campfire s'more ice cream. The dome of smoke is a stunning touch to an already awesome offering. In the summer I swing by for
Strawberry Frozen Margaritas or Seasonal Berries Cheesecake ice cream. Tonight I branched out and tried the Salted Caramel De Luche. Really can't go wrong.
Shari Hanks
Salted Dulce de Leche was delicious!
(And so was dreamcicle) !
It was our first time visiting and so the first time trying Ice cream made with nitro :) - next time we're going for the boozy menu! Love it!
Liz Pointer
Wow! This place is sooooo worth the calories!!! They make the ice cream in front of you using liquid nitrogen and a blow torch. I ordered the campfire smores and somehow it had a delicious smoke flavor and the texture on this ice cream is so light and fluffy. My only complaint is I wish it were calorie free. Best ice cream in St. Louis, hands down.
Wendy Walker
Ices has exceptionally creamy ice cream made to order in front of you while you wait. Watching staff instantly freeze the ingredients with liquid nitrogen and then use the blow torch to be able get the ice cream out of the bowl is quite entertaining.
In addition to their staple flavours, we also love the seasonal flavors they offer, which are always fun and unique, with options like campfire s'mores, worlds fair jelly donut, and blood orange cheesecake (as of yesterday anyway.)
The only downsides are that the ice cream is pricey and service is not quick. So be prepared to wait around 10-15 minutes for your ice cream...after waiting in line for 5-15 minutes. This place is always busy! A testament to the product.
Overall, the end result is worth the hefty price tag for a unique spin on a traditional dessert experience. If you want cheap ice cream quickly scooped from a bucket, this is not the place for you.
Emily Pruitt
Such a fun and neat experience for both adults and family! There is a glass viewing window where you can watch them make your ice cream. The flavors are rich and unique. We love the campfire smore and Tutti Fruity. Even if there's a line.. it's worth your time :)
Lizard4554
I really like this place. First off the ice cream was really delicious. It was so creamy and it comes in a lot of different flavor options. They also have a big selection of alcoholic treats I'd love to try next time. It has this cool old time-y ice cream parlor vibe and the showmanship when they make the ice cream with liquid nitrogen is a lot of fun. It's more expensive then run of the mill ice cream, but totally worth the extra money.
Kim M.
I went here with my daughter and we were kind of disappointed. It was super expensive ice cream that was good...but not wow factor good. For that kind of price i would expect dreamy flavor explosions in my mouth. It was at least cool to watch them make the ice cream. It was an okay experience and could be a very cool place to take a date and get one of the boozy ice cream concoctions.
J P T
Excellent customer service, the ice cream was great! There were four of us, three of us are vegan and we did not feel like we were missing out on anything here! We got the cherry cordial, the cookies and cream, German chocolate, and the campfire smores and definitely good! Fun experience
Zak S
Not only is it delicious ice cream, but it's also a fun little show. It's always enjoyable to watch them make the ice cream right before your eyes with liquid nitrogen. Their ice cream is decadent and a perfect way to indulge. Personally I think the smaller size is plenty, but if you have a sweet tooth, by all means go for the larger one. I've only done it once and my eyes were bigger than my stomach.
Kristen Warnol
Such a cool place! They mix ingredients with liquid nitrogen to make the ice cream. I got the chocolate peanut butter and it was delicious. Also the servings are gigantic so you definitely get your money’s worth.
Basel Safi
whenever we go to Ices, we end up leaving happy.,. the idea of watching how your ice cream is being made right in front of your eyes is something that always amuses the kids. around winter time they have our favorite one which is the S'mores one where not only they have the marshemellow chocolates and graham crackers, they also add the smoke factor where it would enhance the flavor and give you the feeling of the actual smores with the burnt marshmallows . always Great to be there and we shall be back there soon....
Ro Anne
My first time here and it was very fun. The staff was very friendly and helpful. She explained everything to me. It was delicious. I loved the atmosphere and the music too. I was trying to get the vegan ice cream but had to try the Campfire S’mores which is not vegan but very good.
Micaela Slagle
I can not stress enough how amazing the ice cream taste! It's the perfect consistency and I would recommend trying the cheesecake ice cream! The service was perfect too, I will definitely come back to have more when visiting St. Louis.
Brian G.
This was my first time there after driving by several times and wanting to stop in. It is very popular in the neighborhood. Ice cream was awesome. They even have flavors with alcohol but I didn't try any of those this time. I plan to go back soon. 🍨 …
Mark Ambler
Great idea and I'm happy this place stays busy. They took a concept and ran with it. I don't notice the flavor difference with the liquid nitrogen, but they make damn good ice cream, so I think I'd go there even without the fancy equipment. I feel a little unqualified to comment completely because I didn't try the alchohol ice creams, but that just means I'll be back (with the $10 needed to buy one).
Kristina Bryan
Great place. While there was a line, it moved quickly and it was fun to watch them make the ice cream with the liquid nitrogen. The sorbet was one of the best I have ever had. We were able to sit outside and enjoy the neighborhood. Busy place but well worth a visit.
Jennifer Perkins
Dessert and a show! The ice cream is tasty but not the best I've had...but it's the novelty of the place. I had chocolate peanut butter --it's a very light chocolate with peanuts and small squares of semi-sweet chocolate. If u like those flavors and chunky, you'll love this!
Amanda Calvin
One of the best home-made ice cream places I've been to the last 5 years since my culinary trip to Europe. It's up there with the best of them. It's light, smooth and flavorful and basically made right there on the spot using liquid nitrogen, a process that you get to watch after placing your order. The only reason I don't give it the fifth star is it has that typical hipster unfriendliness. After several visits they always seem dismissive and bored in how they treat me, my family, and other patrons that I've seen visit them. If they could focus more customer service and friendliness, I would love to give this ice cream parlor a 5 star review
Sarah Gulseth
I mean seriously, the ice cream here is incredible. Interesting, unique flavors that will satisfy anyone's sweet tooth, and the awesome process for making their I've cream will intrigue anyone, young or old. The building itself is just a fun place to visit, and the Shaw neighborhood deserves frequent visits.
Justine Collum
Delicious ice cream. You can go for the classics like rocky road and butter pecan, boozy treats, or more interesting flavors on the specials board. A bit pricy for a family to get nitro cream but they do have more affordable soft serve for the kiddos (whose favorite part may be watching the ice cream get made anyway - it's cool!). Really cute shop with neat atmosphere. Friendly staff. The lines can get quite long at peak times so go early, late, or on a weekday if you can.
Peter Dell
Unique ice cream shop, great food and fun atmosphere.
Nancy T
My kids and I loved this place! Historic building with interesting process to watch as the liquid nitrogen freezes your individual serving of ice cream. And for those NON DAIRY/VEGAN folks, GO HERE! The soy mint chip was delicious. I can't wait go go back and try another flavor!
Taylor Clark
Love the ice cream, some of the best in the city (Ted Drewe's purists be damned). The flavors are all varied and they swap out seasonal offerings and specials quite often. My only complaint I could muster is the prices are a bit high, but you are paying for the gimmick of the nitrogenated ice cream made before your eyes. Lines tend to be long at peak hours and during the summer, sometimes going out the door. Overall great place, I visit a few times a month!
Justin Muench
Definitely my favorite place to get ice cream in st. Louis. This is a great place for groups of friends and families alike. If you haven't been here or I highly recommend it. They also have tons of dairy free ice cream options for he lactose intolerant and vegan crowds.
Katie Hallock
I've been excited and terrified to try this place. I was excited because, duh, what a cool experience! I love making my own ice cream at home, but I've certainly never used liquid nitrogen! But my fear was that it would all be all about the their unique way of making ice cream and less about actually making good ice cream. I also worried that maybe the nitrogen would cause the ice cream to be more icey than creamy, which would just make me angry. However, this place took good care of me! It was very entertaining to watch the process and a very delicious experience to eat the product.
I chose the Cherry Cordial and was quite pleased with it! My friends loved their Berry & Nutella and Butter Pecan. My husband wasn't crazy about the Mint, but I thought it was fine.
We all ordered the size large, which is about 3 large scoops. I always worry that my dessert won't be big enough. If you're like me, you don't have to worry - these portions are great!
If I had one complaint it would be that I want more flavors - specifically ones involving chocolate!
Doug
The ice cream here is so rich and smooth! This place has a really cool ice cream parlor atmosphere and they use nitrogen to make the ice cream in front of you. The menu items are pricey but it’s with it. They have alcoholic ice cream concoctions and traditional soft serve flavors as well. Definitely a cool local creamery to try in St. Louis. The location is also very convenient to The Missouri Botanical Gardens and Tower Grove Park.
Lowell Ricketts
The best ice cream in town! There are always interesting specials to choose from. Plus, it's a lot of fun to watch them use liquid nitrogen to flash freeze it. The price is a bit high but the servings are big enough to split and liquid nitrogen ain't cheap. Expect a long line but don't give up!
Teh01
Great flavor and consistency. I had this at a food truck festival. Have never been to the actual shop. They only had about 3 flavors so I had plain ole vanilla. Superb. I typically prefer custard or frozen yogurt over ice cream, but this makes me change my mind. A bit on the pricey side.
Aaron Stepleton
So, this is a trendy little ice cream shop that uses liquid nitrogen and blow torches to make your ice cream right before you eyes. You have to go once just to say you've seen it and now you are cool. The flavors are ok. It reminds me a lot of custard. Chocolate is the best flavor they have. The wait is sometimes long. I prefer much more Jeni's in the Central West End
Jesika Kasch
Excellent! Fun to watch, fun to eat. Extra fun if you get boozy ice cream.
Cate Lewis
Some of the best ice cream you can get in the city (or anywhere, imo). Every flavor I have had is fantastic, but some favorites are the cookies n creme (high cookie ratio! 👌🏻), rocky road, peanut butter chocolate, salted dulce de lethe, and definitely the campfire s’mores when it’s in season - I’ve never seen anything like it anywhere else. This place is a GEM in the Shaw neighborhood.
Akhil Mulpuru
The inside was small and the line was long but they have some seating inside though more outside. You'll recognize the place as being the only bustling building in the neighborhood. As far as the flavors, they have so many types you'll get lost but personally speaking you get more bang for your buck with their nitrogen frozen ice cream which you actually get to see the make and on top of that they have cool LED lights that change colors. They have alcoholic ice cream and cocktails as well as a few drinks but personally speaking it cost more and you get less ice cream so save the money and just get a few drinks at the bar. But as far as their normal ice cream it's fantastic and as someone with a sweet tooth I couldn't even finish the large portion. The ingredients the use are fresh and flavorful!
Dawn Stoker
This is a corner ice cream shop near downtown. People are relaxed and friendly and the ice cream is delicious. We tried the vegan german chocolate cup which was super creamy for non-dairy. Also had the cherry not so cordial which was also delicious. A very tasty way to enjoy a little alcohol... would be an awesome dessert after an evening out. The shop also served coffee and boozy hot chocolate as well as a special treat called "sticky charlie" for dogs. Our dog lapped it up and even better, 50% of the proceeds go to stray rescue. It was a little cold, but we sat outside with our dog. One of the servers came out an unlocked the chairs for us which was very thoughtful. Overall, a great place for students, families, and couples...!
Jakobe Chacon
So cool how they make the liquid nitrogen ice cream right in front of you. Great fun for kids to watch as well as some adult frozen beverages. Employees are very kind and love showing off all the dry ice smoke while making the deserts.
Alison Fournie
We took my mom for Mother's day. Ice cream is her favorite food, but she hasn't been able to enjoy it since she became dairy and soy free. She had the coconut milk german chocolate with the toasted coconut and LOVED it! She was SO happy to find a place to enjoy an ice cream with her family again! Thank you!!!
Mary Foshage
Delicious ice cream with great non-cow milk options. Lovely new back room and overall atmosphere. Recent visit says they could use more mint in the mint chip flavor, but has not disappointed otherwise.
Alex Goldsmith
The long lines here are a testament to the tasty and very smooth ice cream inside. It's quickly become my go-to spot when I'm craving ice cream instead of custard (although it has a custard option too). I highly recommend the salted caramel custard and the butter pecan.
Emma Hodges
Ices has always offered the superior customer (& employee!) experience—that's something that has not changed with COVID. They've adapted beautifully, following all health guidelines while still making ice cream fun and special. Just what I expected from a fabulous crew & business. 💙💗 …
Derek Schulze
This place is exquisite. They hand make ice cream with liquid nitrogen. It's a spectacle for the eyes sure, but just wait until you get your ice cream. They have traditional and seasonal flavors. This time around I got apple butter. It was the essence of fall in ice cream. I love this place and will return again and again.
Valerie C
ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!! The strawberry and also the butter pecan was phenomenal. The crew was friendly, pleasant environment and an awesome experience watching your ice-cream transform using nitrogen. I will definitely be back soon!!
Tony Pitale
Favorite ice cream in the city. Fascinating to watch the process, and always a pleasure to bring visiting friends and family to try it. Lines get long in the summer, but what would you expect? If you know the right time, it’s a breeze. Even with a long line it moves quickly. Helps that they stay open as late as they do!
Yogesh Sureshkumar
Love their Ice Creams.. Made from Scratch and their Caramel Dulce De Leche and Nutella Blueberry are absolutely phenomenal.. Makes the 20+ miles worthwhile in every one of our trip..
Mandy Vernier
Ices is a great place if you want something different. Ice cream made with fresh ingredients and liquid nitrogen! Fun for the kids to watch it being made. Plus they have boozy ice cream for the adults. Just be prepared to wait in line, its usually packed. But the line moves quickly.
Peggy Naumann
We absolutely loved it!!! Had it for the first time back in June at Brew & Cue in Belleville, Illinois. First time at store. Had a hard time deciding on what flavor to order. I would highly recommend it to everyone!!! In fact I'm thinking about going back to get gift certificates for our son who lives in Afton, for Christmas.
David Kilper
One of the best ice cream places I've been to in a long time. It's up there with the best of them. It's smooth and flavorful and basically made right there on the spot using liquid nitrogen, a process that you get to watch after placing your order. The only reason I don't give it the fifth star is it has that typical hipster unfriendliness. After several visits they always seem dismissive and bored in how they treat me, my family, and other patrons that I've seen visit them. Normally I would give three or even two stars but the ice cream is really that good.
Edit: something happened and the service has vastly improved. Now they get that fifth star.
Andy Ludwig
Made to order nitro ice cream. They have boozy options but I think the ice cream is better without.
Lord Sprite
What a terrific novelty and it worked so well. Some of the most delicious ice cream I've had. We made sure to stop by on interstate trip... It's totally worth it!
C V
This is by far one of the most unique ice cream experiances we have had..... ever!! The flavors are amazing and different. The adult flavors are a party for your tongue. We will be back again and again and yes we will bring our friends!
Phil Arquette
Great neighborhood ice cream shop with inventive mixes. The campfire store sundae had real wood smoke under a dome that came out when you opened it making it taste like the real thing!
J R
Had the vanilla (lg), it was slightly grainy, not completely smooth. I was hoping for a smoother texture and thus the mouth feel wasn't too good. The flavor was decent and the price was okay, steep if it wasn't for the portion size. The line was long, out the door, and the wait was about fifteen minutes. The staff was pleasant.
Bill Hurst
Delicious. Not sure I've ever been there when there wasn't a crowd, even a cold January evening! Friendly staff who listen (and remember) suggestions for future flavors and make suggestions for choices you might enjoy. Even with the crowds always willing to help out. I've been going since shortly after they opened and have never been disappointed.
Tom Check
Boozy nitro ice cream after dinner out is an AWESOME way to cap the night. Great place, fun atmosphere, whimsical menu, and very tasty ice cream. Also, they have non-boozy ice cream as well, so it's whole-family-friendly. I'll definitely be back.
Serge T
When we arrive it was pretty empty May 19. So we didn't have to wait. It was very unusual way ice cream was made. But the result was amazing. Ice cream was just right for my taste, not as sweet as TedDrews. We loved the experience and will be back again when visiting botanical garden.
Amber Stage
Love this place! The staff is friendly, the ice cream is delicious, and the process is fascinating to watch. Campfire S'mores is our favorite flavor even though it is seasonal. Other good options are cookies and cream, chocolate, and the Rumchata spiked Ok, Fine!
Barry Parsons
It's such a unique place, using liquid nitrogen to literally make ice cream in seconds right in front of you. The flavors are amazing. If they happen to be making campfire smores when you're there, get it! When you open the lid, it actually smells like a campfire!
Amanda Zitting
This place is really cool! The ice cream is always fabulous - rich and creamy, and the sizes are large. However, it runs a bit too expensive (over $7 for a large!) which I guess encourages sharing.
The environment is fun and I adore the outdoor seating.
My friend got the soy ice cream and none of us were fans! Just doesn't taste like ice cream much at all.
Overall a must-go place in STL for a sweet treat and to watch your ice cream be nitro'd right infront of your eyes.
Try the sump pump or the chocolate peanut butter -delicious!!
COSMIC 1
This place is adorable and the nitrogen freezing to order is cool. I only had the soy ice cream and cannot reccommend it. I've had many amazing soy and other dairy free ice creams in my lifetime but this one just tasted like frozen soymilk. Not much flavor or sweetness and the texture was limp and slimy. They made me a new one with more sugar and vanilla that was much better than the first but was still very disappointing. They need to learn to make dairy free ice cream properly or stop serving it.
Jillian Kaye
Very cool shop and there's nothing like it in the STL area. It's pretty entertaining to see your ice cream get made, not gonna lie. My only caveat is a cup of ice cream could run you a pretty large bill. You're paying for the experience and it is worth it. Whenever they have the s'mores special we always get it because when you lift the lid - it smells like a campfire. That's some Harry Potter-caliber magic right there.
Jared Andrews
It's always good. Mint chip is a personal fave. It gets crowded, so expect a decent wait if you go in the evening. After 9 or before 6 will save you a lot of hassle. Great ice cream.
Tony Piede
Best fresh ice cream in the city. So many unique flavors with changing seasonal specials. The Camp Fire Smores is delicious and well done. Several adult ice creams to choose from is nice for variety and change.
Chelsea Holloway
Sooo YUMMY and they can make any flavor VEGAN/non-dairy!! A big win for me! I had the cherry cordial and it was fantasticly delicious! 😍🍨😍🍨 Thank you Ices Plain & Fancy ❤🍨 …
Mark Nickel
Slightly higher prices than you would expect for ice cream but it's truly a unique and fun experience. They also have a few vegan options. I tried the German chocolate cake ice cream nd it as amazing! Totally worth a stop to try something new.
Sierra Moore
It was good ice cream. The fact they make it with liquid nitrogen encouraged my son to learn more so thats a plus. It's a bit on the pricey side but that's okay. The only complaint I have is that it's so small but you can always go outside but they welcome dogs so beware.
farscaperkcm
Went more for the novelty of something different. Great smooth and creamy👌 ice cream and the liquor warms you up while eating 😁 it! However I thought it was also pricy, we spent over $60 for three small sunday's with liquor but it really was nice and strong. Without liquor it's still about $12. …
Katherine W-B
Omg!!! Y’all this place is so cool! It looks old fashioned and is such a cute place! They make the ice cream right in front of you and the flavors are delicious. The servings are large enough for two people so make a date night more fun or grab your bestie cause this place is worth it!
Chris Sotraidis
Look no further for arguably St.Louis' best ice cream. They get super busy during the weekends, but the line moves fast. The boozy nitro ice creams really punch you in the face. I ate a boozy shake at like, 3pm one afternoon... and went home and slept like a rock for a few hours. The larges here truly are large, and you'll be satisfied with the portions and taste.
Erik Tiefenthal
I'm always skeptical whether it's worth the extra money to order something made with alcohol in it. Often it's just enough for taste, barely worth it. Thankfully, this was NOT the case at Ices Boosey ice creams. Well worth the cost. Tried Salted Carmel, Johnny Jump Up, and Dark & Fancy. All great!! Cute little shop.
aya salama
Ice cream done in-front of you, you can add rum scotch etc… made with liquid nitrogen! The flavors never left my mind!
Ashley Serrano-Ziel
This beats frozen custard ANY DAY!!! Tonight was our first time trying Nitro Ice Cream, and now I don't want it any other way! The strawberry cheesecake was awesome, but the best was salted dulce de leche with Oreos mixed in. If you just ask for the "Andre", they'll know what you mean. I ALMOST got a second order of ice cream to eat, but stopped myself bc that'd be nuts, right? 😅😜 Can't wait to come back here again soon and try another flavor! 😁
Jessica Medina
Hands down my favorite ice cream spot in the city. I simply can't tell you how delectable the cookies and cream option is!! Usually a line in the summer, but so worth the wait.
Katelyn T
Ice cream frozen by liquid nitrogen. Boozey and vegan (non-dairy) options available. Unique experience and good treats. Rotating menu means there is always something new to try or have an old fave.
Jack Hawk
A nice, neighborhood ice cream shop. Several non dairy options, as well as adult (alcoholic) options. Some of their offerings include local products like Sump coffee, 4 Hands beer and Fitz's soda. They even have options for your dog where 50% of the procedes go to Stray Rescue.
Seating is a bit scarce, but there is patio furniture out front.
Overall a great choice in a hot summer day.
Suzanne Chisum
A fun place to go and enjoy an ice cream that they freeze while beating after you order and you can watch! Great neighborhood location in Tower Grove.
Jennifer M
I will preface my review by saying this ice cream is very pricey. So for the price I expected more. I got the campfire smores. Which was really different and neat but the taste was lack luster and the marshmallows in there made it unappetizing.
Ally Duffin
Date night here with my husband and we loved it! We've never been, and wanted to try something new so we drove about 20 minutes, and did not regret it! He got the Cherry Cordial, and I got the smores. Tastes just like a campfire!
Adam Geisen
Always delicious and fun to watch! I love the boozy ice creams, but there's a ton for the whole family.
Aalia Rahman
It was a neat and cute family place. They had fewer options, but they did have a tasty German chocolate ice cream that was catered to lactose intolerant people like myself. They also had nice outdoor seating.
Laura Case
We've lived in the neighborhood for a few years and finally got around to stopping by. We are kicking ourselves for waiting so long. Both flavors we tried were absolutely delicious. And the staff was great! We will definitely be back.
Kubla Khan
I love the ice creams here, very innovative stuff, the boozy ice cream is very boozy:) And they do the whole thing with liquid nitrogen which is cool. But woe betide you if you go on a summer evening!! You will wait in line for 30 min!!
Jarrod Sharp
Very good ice cream with a variety of flavors and vegan options as well. Also really cool seeing them use the nitrogen and torches to make ice cream. Very cool place with great ice cream... Highly recommend!
Steven Andrew
The Salted Dulce de Leche is so good! Every flavor ice cream has premium ingredients, nothing tastes gross or artificial. It's all about decadence and quality. The live show of making your order with liquid nitrogen is worth coming in for too. The employees all work very hard and fast, it's not scoops of stale ice cream or soft serve crap!
Evan Walker
This is absolutely some of the best ice cream I've ever had in my life, and I've eaten way too much ice cream for my own good. Cool place to be, cool process to see, nice people. Definitely stop by
Jaime Odom
Great little place, the workers were VERY friendly and helpful, fast service, the place was crowded amd they got everyone's orders in and out in no time. I got the salted dulce de leche custard and it was sooo good! My daughter got the vegan german chocolate and you can taste the pure cocoa in it. There were other flavors we tried, too, and they were all good.
Andrew Maynard
This place is a very small and loud restaurant with some amazing ice cream. The seating is very limited, but on a nice day it's a great place to get some ice cream or a boozy shake and eat outside. There are vegan and eggless ice cream options available.
Tara Nahm
Booze + Ice Cream = perfect night. This is a great place, the ice cream is delicious and it was exciting watching them make it. I highly recommend the, Cherry Not So Cordial. It was divine.
Sorin
Great place for ice cream/custard w/ & w/o alcohol. Very good ice cream, had the #2 Old Fashion which had alcohol and would recommend. Paid $10 for about 8 ounce. Pricey but expected since it had rum.
Justin Cissell
Ice cream is Great tasting and unparalleled smoothness. My favorite are the seasonal flavors: Although the flavor combinations sometimes sound odd they will blow your mind and taste buds away.
Isabelle Smith
The ice cream is so rich and creamy! All the flavors are wonderful and the boozy options are well-balanced. Some of the best frozen treats in STL.
Sam Ohare
10/10 every single time I go. Staff is extremely friendly and the ice cream is awesome! They even have one called “Sticky Charlie” for dogs. 50% goes to Stray Rescue which I also think is AWESOME!
Cindy La
It was super hot and the line was out the door, but WORTH IT. It costs more than regular ice cream but because they put in so much time and care into creating the ice cream with liquid nitrogen right in front of you, the quality is amazing.
Laura Sorden
So delicious! First visit for me and the s'mores tasted exactly like a campfire s'mores. Will definitely go there again and again!
Ben S
Personal favorite ice cream in STL by far. The nitro ice cream is no gimmick, producing incredibly rich and smooth ice cream. Even the basic flavors stand out relative to other shops. And their "interesting" flavors go beyond just trying to capture the described flavor by incorporating little extras like the graham cracker bits, marshmallow, and smoke in the Smores special. The shop has a decent amount of space and it's entertaining to watch the ice cream being made for you while you wait. Despite everything being made to order, the wait at Ices never seems to be unreasonable.
Susie Jan
Cute place but I can get just as good ice cream cheaper at the grocery store and the people are nicer. Staff here has been rude/short/unfriendly with me the 3-4 times I've tried going there. I go local as much as I can, but unfriendly and use of so much disposal plastic is not a winner.
Alexandre Fernandes
I love the boozy ice creams. It's a cocktail flavor in an ice cream. I always bring people visiting St Louis to this place. It's a unique way of doing ice cream and the taste is amazing.
Katherine Lewis
Fantastic and unique ice cream shop in a cool location
Demére Harris
I get the same thing every time even though I walk in their every day to get something new. But dangit that strawberry cheesecake keeps calling my name and I submit so easily! One time I dropped my ice cream walking out the door and they gave me a new one for free, whaaaaat! Awesome people and delicious ice cream :) I can't wait until tomorrow to embark on another ice cream adventure to Ices Plain & Fancy!
Tiffany Zarletti-Passe
Delicious ice cream and such a fun experience to watch them make it in front of you. Don't be in a rush when visiting. The making of the icecream takes awhile but totally worth the show!
Red Leigh
Amazing ice cream and very kind people. A tornado warning came on while we were there and strong winds were out side. The workers told us we could hang out in their hallway so the kids were not scared.
Stephanie Kline-Tissi
Love their German Chocolate Vegan Ice Cream. It is so much creamier than traditional cow's milk based ice cream! I would highly recommend this to anyone!
Laura Moore
Eeyumm and ahhh in one experience. And the entertainment value of watching your ice cream concoction being hand created with blow torches and liquid nitrogen being poured from thermal pitchers.
In summer you can sit outside; they have late hours; the neighborhood setting is strictly that with street parking, patrons with their dogs (water provided) and low traffic noise.
You gotta seek this place out, unless you find them catering a public event.
Christopher a
Absolutely delicious! I wish we had a place like this where I live back in Ohio! It was really cool watching them make the ice cream with the liquid nitrogen...highly recommend!
Kevin Croke
Always good. My favorite is the s'more seasonal favor. The rocky road or chocolate are my go to if the specials don't interest me.
Manu En
Amazing ice cream variations including boozy ones. Weekend nights are very busy and lines can be around the block.
The ice cream is prepared in front of your eyes with the use of nitrogen. Definitely an experience
Chris Humes
Went for national ice cream for breakfast day and enjoyed the boozy ice cream better than clementines. Not the clementines is bad at all. The experience of watching them actually make the ice cream to order was the whip cream and cherry on top.
Justin King
Such a cool spin on an ice cream shop. It’s so cool to watch them freeze the ice cream in front of you. They were very friendly and patient with us first timers. We’ll be back!!!
Leneia Weston
It's delectable! The smooth, velvety texture from this method of ice cream making is unreal. I had the Old Fashioned, and they use Luxardo cherries 😍 and an orange zest garnish. It was divine. …
Erik Bates
Fun flavors, and friendly service make this place a good stop if you're looking for a unique ice cream experience. My only complaint is that they don't have kids size options, which is strange, considering ice cream is a staple kid treat.
Jackie Finnegan
Absolutely delicious treats! There were seven in our group - everyone tried a different flavor and everyone was extremely satisfied!
Dawn Ford
Cool idea...ice cream frozen with liquid nitrogen...and if you're into alcohol mixed with your ice cream, they've got that too. Poor parking, long lines and overpriced confections. Buy a half gallon from Aldi's and save yourself the trouble.
Tinah Twardowski
They are super pet friendly! And the boozy ice cream is top notch. We had the ok fine and frozen dude. They were delicious. Old fashioned was not as great as advertised.
Paul R.
An absolute must. The ice cream is created right in front of you using liquid nitrogen. The ice cream is the best in the area. It is pricey, and gets crowded, but no one I've taken there has regretted going.
Lindsay Hunt
Ices Plain & Fancy was phenomenal!! We take an 8th grade school trip to St. Louis every spring, and just happened to find this place. They had a special private event for us and just really made our evening special. We highly recommend this place and hope they open a location in Austin soon!!
Michelle Butterfield
Wonderful flavors and such a unique and exciting way to see ice cream made!! We had the pumpkin cheesecake and apple pie and they were amazing!
Claire Lampo
Super rich and delicious! Best I've cream I've had in St. Louis!
St Louis Investor
About as cool of an ice cream place as you're going to find. Historic building, unique process, and delicious ice cream & waffle cones.
You literally watch them make the ice cream in front of you using liquid nitrogen to freeze it!
Jeffrey Lowe
This place is amazing! They make your ice cream right in front of you and freeze it with liquid nitrogen for the smoothest, creamiest deliciousness ever! You uave got to try them!
Mark Zeman
In tbis small, quaint shop, before your eyes, workers pour billowing clouds of liquid nitrogen into bowls with cream and your choice of delicious fresh ingredients. The result is a delightful, robust flavor. For a special treat get a waffle cone and eat it on the patio.
Jesse Jones
Only 4 stars because it's a tad pricey, even compared to other artisanal ice cream shops, and the non-alcoholic flavors are underwhelming. However, the boozy ices are outstanding. A unique experience.
Heather C
Awesome spot! I've been coming here since they opened and I can't say enough good things. Make sure you get an ice cream with something nitro-fried on top! The "dragon's breath" is the coolest experience.
Paul Pigg
Great little ice cream shop with ice cream made to order right in front of you. Definitely worth a visit if you are visiting the Botanical Gardens on a nice day, but beware that there may be a long line out the door!
Adam Segal-Isaacson
Made to order ice cream. A bit of a gimmick but the ice cream is really good. Cost seems high but actually it isn't as the portions are quite large. Worth the trip and worth the line.
Shannon Marbut
My friends and I made a 4 hour road trip just to visit some places we heard about in St. Louis. This was one of them. Unique experience. And who doesn't love booze with ice cream?
Kate Conneely
Ice cream was super good and creamy. Also the alcoholic or boozy ice cream was SUPER strong. In the best way possible though. Was only visiting the city but I shall miss this place. Quality!
Rachel Queen
Delicious as always! And they even gave moms a rose for mother's day🌹🍨 …
Joe Davenport
Fun atmosphere and really good Ice cream. Really cool to see it made in front of you. Next time I'll get plain ice cream. the mixed in items distracted me from great ice cream. What's cooler than cool? Ices Plain & Fancy.
Tati Arkh
Amazing! Last night my hubby and I had blueberry cheesecake (yeah it’s ice cream) and butter & pecan ice cream! It was to die for!
Alanna Podgorski
Amazinggggg! Love the decor. I also love that they really have something for everybody! We had never been there before, and the staff were super helpful. Can’t wait to go back! I especially love that they’re open after 9pm because that’s just too early.
Angela Layman
It tasted good, but wasn't worth the money.
Brienna
A bit pricey for my student budget, but SO good and creamy. All the flavors are unique, with limited seasonal flavors too. I haven't had a flavor I didn't like!
Warren Popp
Always the most delicious ice cream and lots of fun to watch it being made. Friendly staff and cute space
Pauline Crain
I can't begin to tell you how WONDERFUL this shop is!! The ice cream is beyond exquisite. You will absolutely not be sorry you visited. The shop is so quaint and reminds you of an ice cream parlor from the 1800s. I give this business 10 stars!!!
Jonah Grossman
The best ice cream i have ever had, it is very good and creamy. Very good service and you get to watch the people make the ice cream.
John Berger
It's kind of a hipstery ice cream place (as you might've deduced from the name), and it's not cheap. But man, it's really good! Love watching them make the concoctions while you're waiting in line. Try adding booze to yours!
Cynthia Kunakom
Pretty entertaining just to watch the ice cream liquid base gets turned into creamy delicious treats. I got cordial cherry one to-go, small. It was so good!
Adam S. Flath
Amazing... The chocolate nitro ice cream is one the best chocolate bases I have ever eaten. Plus it comes with a good amount of chocolate shavings that make it almost like a chocolate chocolate chip flavor.
Gregory Dolecki
Really excellent place. Your ice cream is made right in front of you. The ingredients are put in a bowl, liquid nitrogen is added and the combination is whipped into shape.
Leslie P.
Great place for nitro "adult" ice creams!! There is also ice cream for your pet, which is fun. Located in Historic Shaw on a nice street with outside seating.
Amanda P
Best STL icecream hands down! So thick and creamy! When the inside is open so cool to watch!
Dawn Crumpton
It is amazing to see how the ice cream is made. The price is very out rageous. For three ice creams it's $20 and for three its $15. The location is amazing and how the place is set up is really nice.
Melinda A
Dulce de leche with sea salt or what ever it is called......life changing! I'm not vegan or gluten free but that German chocolate concoction is out of this world. It is fun to watch them create your ice cream. The campfire s'mores is a definite favorite too. I did think that the peanut butter chocolate ice cream I had once had a few too many candies in it. So much chewing...a real 1st world problem! Too much candy. lol.
Michael Bristow
Very good ice cream flash frozen with liquid nitrogen so it very creamy.
Jared Ross
What a great ice cream place, a tasty product, phenomenal serviceoh, and a little bit of magic when they mix the liquid nitrogen in to make your ice cream from scratch. The prices are high but you get what you pay for.
Danielle Hohmeier
Fantastic neighborhood ice cream shop with classic and inventive flavors (and boozey ice cream too!). The COVID window and curbside has been fantastic.
James Bowman
I have been going to Ices semi-regularly since 2017 and every flavor I tried has been excellent. Their best flavor is seasonal: S'mores!
April Mack
There ice cream is good and there mint chip is delicious. They make the ice cream with organic ingredients.
James Doan
Nitro blasted ice cream. Definitely different and neat to watch.
Andrew Phillips
Great variety of ice creams all made fresh in front of you. Portion sizes are good and we enjoyed sitting outside on a sunny day with ours.

One word: Epicness! Neat little joint. Vegan coconut non-dairy German chocolate option was awesome. Oh they use nitrogen. So smooth. Great service.
Scott Ward
Some of the best ice cream in town! The basic chocolate is absolutely delicious! Be sure to try out the rotating seasonal specials!
Alan Lanzer
Definitely the best ice cream in the area. Sometimes the line is a bit long, but it is well worth the wait. Their boozy ice cream is also amazing if that's your thing.
Diana O
Delightful local ice cream store. Good outdoor seating. Staff was helpful and friendly as they make your ice cream right in front of you. Wonderful historic Sean neighborhood
Vickie Houston
The most awesome place to treat your palate. So addictive. Must try the salted caramel custard with chocolate pieces. It's so soothing to the soul.
Briana Peters
Their campfire s'mores is the best ice cream I've ever had. The staff is always very friendly and I believe they have ice cream for your pup too!
Julie Meglan
The dry ice process to make this ice cream gives it the most unbelievable texture. They also have vegan flavors ♥️
Claire VanEssendelft
The place is very good and the icecream is just amazing. If you don't like to try new things, though, I would not go to this place because there is not a big variety on the menu.
Martha Sickling
Delicious ice cream, including ice cream chocolates for adults. Local owned, community minded threw a party for national ice cream day work BBQ and music and face painting.
Ginny Roehl
Love this place! All flavors are so wonderful and creamy. No one else in St. Louis does it better!
Vincent Flewellen
Great ice cream but the associate wearing the glasses and has the blonde dye job with dark roots is a bit rude and incredibly unfriendly. Never sad thank you for my order and purchase and stared at me the entire time I was there.
Me Mila!
I really like!! There ice cream is so creamy and yummy!! The only problem is it takes a really long time to get the ice cream but it is for the most part worth it
Daphne Barness
Good icecream but for sure the best part of this location is the experience. Watching the preparation and the unique ideas they come up with is pretty cool.
naturalgal 5
Simply put.. best butter pecan I have ever had. Went here 3 times in 2 weeks
Chaney Jewell
One of my favorite places to get ice cream in STL! My personal favorite is the dulce de leche! Bonus is watching them make it with the liquid nitrogen!
Jameson Madere
An ice cream shop that just sells Ice cream? Sweet. An ice cream shop that makes their ice cream in front of you, using liquid nitrogen and a blowtorch? Awesome! That ice cream shop that makes ice cream in front of you with liqour in it??? That's the best kind of ice cream shop. That's Ices Plain and Fancy.
bike ninja
Everything about this place is amazing. Friendly staff and great made to order ice cream. If you haven't tried it, go n' get you some.

Not many places can get me to enjoy making a mess, but the butter pecan and waffle cone on a hot day was *incredibly* difficult to resist.
Absolutely awesome.
Kara Dee Flacke
Very original! I had the sump coffee ice cream and it was amazing! It was also really cool watching the process of it being made. Will definitely be back!

Nice Neighborhood Ice Cream Shop
Yuting H
Our favorite ice cream shop in the city. If you haven't tried their s'mores ice cream, you are missing out!
Carlie Johnson
They have a dairy free vanilla base that they can use to make most of their flavors from. It’s so good you can barely tell it’s dairy free!
Ben Morgan
So what if it's still cold outside...that just means shorter lines! This place is awesome. Even if you go with traditional vanilla, it'll be the best vanilla you've had in a while.
Topher B
What a great little neighborhood spot! Had the best hot chocolate here!! Tasted homemade from scratch!
Nicole Schlosser
Amazing. They had a seasonal special "smores", best ice cream I've had. I couldn't believe it could actually taste like a toasted smore, but it did. A must go.

Samantha Fox
First time having them and it was soooo delicious definitely going back!
Josh Mandelberger
Love their boozy ice creams, and watching the process always make me imagine I'm watching mad scientists, wizards or some other thing going on with the vapors from the liquid nitrogen.
Even if there is a line it tends to move quickly and is worth the wait.
Adam B
They make the ice cream while you watch using liquid nitrogen. They use delicious, fresh ingredients for some fantastic ice cream. They also have boozy ice creams.
Tiffany Ross
Best Waffle Cone, so yummy!
Josh Peck
Curbside pickup process could use some work. Waited a very long time. Also, consider renaming your non-dairy chocolate ice cream something besides "German Chocolate". Very misleading!
Louisa
Great nondairy ice cream, but selection is very small. Hope to see more flavors and be able to pick toppings in the future.
Gretchen A.
Sooooooo delicious......
And as someone who has allergies to both dairy and soy, I LOVE that they have other options from which they can make their creations. Move over Ted Drews..... This place gets my vote any day!
Malachi Keith
this was a really fun place to visit it had a nice Decor a fun atmosphere really good ice cream nitrogen Frozen which was fun no samples because they make it on site which is also pretty neat the flavors were good but I'd say you should try the vanilla it makes the most difference for drying nitrogen ice cream can't really tell when it's all flavored up

Always try the seasonal specials! Everything is delicious. Skip the boozy ice cream (they are great, but the regular ice cream is better.)
Mark T
Seriously good ice cream. Not sure if the freeze dried step adds any flavor, but it's a good show. Did I mention the ice cream was seriously good?
Ben Knight
Amazingly delicious ice cream served via liquid nitrogen. Employees are always friendly and welcoming and they even have boozy treats too!
