I’ve loved this place since it opened! One of the things I miss about living on The Hill is the ability to walk here for a sweet treat! Now, I have to drive 30-40 minutes, but I still come back. I brought my family here over the weekend, and we had a lovely visit. My little one had never been before thanks to the pandemic, but now Gelato Di Riso has another fan. I usually go for chocolate, but this time, I got peach and strawberry…YUM!! Definitely come get yourself some delicious gelato. There’s plenty of savory food within a brief walking distance to prep your tummy for the sweet stuff!

How did I not know about this place until today? Great Gelato and its in the middle of "the Hill"! Very appropriate for the neighborhood and this place is living up to expectations. Looking forward to making this a frequent stop for us. In Saint Louis, there aren't many good options for quality ice cream, but Gelato Di Riso, Jenni's, and Clementine's give me hope. Be sure to check out the lovely garden behind this location for a place to eat your Gelato by a fountain surrounded with trees, benches, chairs, and board games.

From the time you walk in, you are greeted by friendly staff offering you samples of homemade Gelato. The amazing choices and favor combinations is incredible! I would highly recommend having a small serving so you can go back for more!

Cute gelato and coffee spot. I had the strawberry gelato on a waffle cone, it was sweet and flavorful. Gelato Di Riso is an ideal spot to relax on a warm afternoon in St. Louis. I also ordered Biscotti, which was delicious. I highly recommend this place to anyone who appreciates gelato.

We started down on The Hill for dinner, but wanted to walk afterwards and decided to take the five minute walk to get here from Ragazzis. First, awesome gelato, I had the amaretto in a small come, fantastic. The youngest girls had strawberry, Dad with lemon and peanut butter, lemon is so good!! Idk what the other kids had, but there were no complaints. Straight out the back door to a patio with seating and a court with a beautiful marble fountain and chess tables. It was a beautiful way to end our evening.

Positively perfect modern Italiana gelato and espresso cafe! Friendly help and full espresso offerings, including affogato and cortado and the most delicious dry-foam cappuccino! The counter offers biscotti and cannoli while the freezer has mounds of fresh gelato. Clean sitting area inside and out on a terrace that flows into the piazza next door with fountain. If you are wandering around The Hill looking for a place to get a scoop of gelato and espresso after dinner, Gelato Di Riso is the place to go!! 🍦🇮🇹

Incredible gelato and really good coffee/espresso. Even open late! At this point I’ve been here 3/4 times and I love the fruity flavors the best. I think raspberry is my favorite. They are so fresh and you can tell they are made with fresh fruit! The coffee is also delicious, so good and open late which is hard to find local coffee open late!

I’m not a huge fan of Gelato but this place changes my mind! The blood orange flavor is bomb and the lemon lime is refreshing. By their powers combined on a hot summer day, it’s a match made in heaven. My friends also ordered a dark chocolate that was rich and delicious. I’m not huge on dark chocolate but if you’re into it, it’s calling your name.

Rating: 4.7 Stars Last night was my first time trying Gelato Di Riso. Frankly, I have minimal experience with gelato. I tend to prefer good soft serve or high quality ice cream like Clementine's. I was definitely not disappointed. In fact, I liked it so much that I had to try two additional flavors after my first order. I first ordered the Grasshopper (Mint Cookie) Gelato. The mint flavor was perfect--neither too strong nor two subtle--and the Grasshopper cookie pieces were a nice addition. Since I was feeling fruity, I decided to order a fruity flavor next. Blackberry gelato caught my eye, and I have always liked blackberry ice cream. This too had solid flavor, and I think that it would be great on a nice, warm summer evening. I also decided to try the Pumpkin Pie gelato. This was the best of the three. It tasted just like a good pumpkin pie, and I really enjoyed it. I definitely preferred the milk-based gelato (Grasshopper and Pumpkin Pie) over the water-based (Blackberry). Nevertheless, all three were fantastic. Lastly, the employee on duty was very nice and attentive.

In the mood for a light tasteful dessert, then the family owned Gelato Di Riso is definitely for you! When you walk inside, you are immediately greeted with a warm atmosphere of the restaurant. The employees are very kind and nice! They inform you on all the flavors and allow you to try them all, until you pick your favorite one! The ingredients are selected from authentic businesses in Italy to ensure authentic flavors, color, and texture in each scoop of their gelato. I tried the lime gelato and found that it had a great kick of flavor and sourness. It tasted like I was actually eating a lime and it was delicious! Another one that we got was blood orange and just like the lime, it has an intense flavor, with a citrus taste. Both of them are very good and light, which doesn't leave a heavy feeling in your stomach. To finish it all up, I tried an Italian cream soda, with vanilla. It was just as great as the gelato. With the carbonation and vanilla together, it makes for an all new experience that is delightful and delicious all together! For anyone who wants a great, light treat, then go to Gelato Di Riso!

The best gelato place in the St. Louis area! They have flavors that you won’t find anywhere else (mascarpone cherry being my favorite), as well as the classics. My wife likes their peach gelato, and I have to say, it’s pretty good! It is situated beside the Hill’s Italian piazza, complete with fountain and chess tables, which makes for a great spot to sit down and enjoy the open air. We go there whenever they are in the area, especially if we grab a bite at one of the local restaurants, which are walking distance away. You might need to hunt for parking (it is the Hill, after all (locals use golf carts to get around), but it is well worth the effort!

Donald, the friendly employee we met that day, got my contact info and sent my billfold back to me. What a relief!! So positive to see an honest employee and a fun, vibrant establishment!! Best gelato I've had. We got 4 different gelato and they were all excellent. Owner took us to his very nice patio in the back that was next to a beautiful large outdoor fountain. What a great place to enjoy exceptional gelato!

Gelato soft velvety texture. Plenty of selections. Great flavors seating indoor and out. Friendly staff. Only annoyance I had was a group of teens who wanted to sample every flavor. I guess it wasn't much of a inconvenience though ha. Enjoy!

Delicious gelato! There were about 12-15 flavors to choose from in a cup or cone. The store itself is cute with a small inside seating area. There are some tables out front as well. Great service! Highly recommend!

So good! I took home a quart and pint (blood orange, lime) and I was worried it would get the same way as when you take custard or something similar home and freeze it (very hard/impossible to scoop). I was surprised that I brought this home early afternoon and by evening it was still perfect and the same consistency, creamy/easy to scoop. Both flavors were very good and tasted like fresh fruit. I will say for 1 quart, 1 pint, and 3 cannolis it was around $38 so, even though it was top notch gelato, not something I could swing regularly.

If you are looking for a treat look no further than this lovely dessert place. With a selection of amazing gelatoes its hard to pick a favorite but pumpkin was the most talked about at the table. The portions were very small for what you paid for but we really enjoyed what we ate. Right next door to a lovely outdoor plaza with a large Italian marble fountain and chess tables in the back all set up for a game.

So good! Pricy for a small serving, so if you are expecting cheap ice cream and an oversized American serving, this is not the place for you. These are fairly small cups of excellent gelato in a range of flavors depending on the day. So far I have had half a dozen fruit flavors, mint chip, and espresso chip. All are excellent, but the lemon is what keeps me coming back.

First off it's gelato on the Hill! The gelato is so rich and smooth, my wife and I cannot get enough. We have had 6 of their flavors and so far they all have been exceptional! This is the best gelato in St. Louis! The location is a nostalgic little Cafe and has a beautiful patio to enjoy your gelato on! The workers are super friendly and are happy to let you sample as many flavors as you'd like. A must for anyone from St. Louis or visiting!

Great place to stop by which I did with my family! A small parkour but cozy and clean. The man there who served us was friendly and he served us promptly! The smooth, soft ice cream tasted the best and no match with others which I had at other ice cream parkours! Parking was ample. I’ll be back next weekend!

We were in town visiting for a Cubs game and wanted some gelato and found this place. The young staff that works here is amazing. What a great group of young folks!! The patio scenery outside was equally as pleasing as the staff. Don’t even get me started on the gelato the flavors are nuts and the taste will blow you away. Can’t wait to come back. We were looking for a dessert shop after visiting the Botanical Garden. This wonderful gelato place is our first introduction to the Hill. Very nice decor and the owner is very friendly and insisted on us sampling different flavors. The gelato was very refreshing and tasty. Reasonably priced and the portion was more than enough. They have a very relaxing backyard patio space right next to the neighborhood piazza/fountain. Very clean and a wonderful hangout. Very enjoyable finish to our relaxing family day out!

Gelato in and of itself, is a far superior dessert to ice cream. This little family owned corner store delivers the best my wife and I have ever had. For our anniversary, we drove 45 minutes to The Hill for some dinner and for sure, Gelato Di Riso's. I got the Hazelnut and my wife got Chocolate. We wanted to try Bacio (chocolate and hazelnut) but I was sold out. Neither of us were disappointed in our Gelato as I think it would be difficult to not enjoy their flavors as they are robust and fully represent the flavor being projected from limoncello to minute verse, everything here is fantastic. Treat yourself!

It's great to have an amazing gelato restaurant right on the hill in St Louis. The chocolate flavor is by far their most popular seller, although I myself prefer the lemon and the strawberry variants. You can't go wrong with any flavor that you choose, it's a great experience. The staff is friendly and will always let you sample something before you commit to buying.

There was not a single other customer there, and yet the girl who served us seemed to be annoyed or inconvenienced that we came in. We will try a different shop next time we go. If you a Gelato fan, this is the best. Always a great variety of flavors to choose from, and that's the hardest part. Reasonably priced and generous servings. Last night was banana and dark chocolate...really flavorful. Don't let the shortage of parking discourage you, if you have to park a block away it's worth every step. There's a few tables outside at the curb for those outdoor lovers...or for when all indoor seats are full. Give this place a try. You'll be impressed.

This place is absolutely incredible. Walked in, guy and girl were very helpful and were able to describe each flavor, in detail. Also, they do allow you to sample, so that your not locked into something you don't like. The little dining area is nice and cozy. Excellent work!

The gelato was absolutely delicious! It was the closest thing I’ve had to authentic gelato from Italy. My boyfriend and I had the biscotti, tiramisu, chocolate, and mint chip. The portions were huge! $10.01 for it all. Only reason why we gave it a 4 was because they did not sanitize tables after customers left.

We were on the Hill searching high and low for a place that sold cannolis. Gelato Di Riso was one of the few places that was actually open and had cannolis on the menu. After a run, I duly typed in ‘dessert near me’ and was rightly directed to this gem in St. Louis’s crown that is The Hill neighborhood. The neighborhood is cute and quaint but the gelato ain’t. No, my friends. This gelato is the handiwork of the gods. Seriously, I’ve eaten my weight in gelato over the years and bar none - the mix of amaretto and chocolate I had tonight - was the best I’ve had in my life. Great place for gelato! They have a nice selection that changes. It's a cute store with inside seating, seating out front and a really nice patio in the back overlooking the Imos fountain it's very nice! The staff is great friendly and helpful.

Great family establishment. Went to the Hills location. Ordered the Affogato, which is gelato with a shot of expresso. Ordered the salted caramel for the gelato. It was absolutely amazing. There were a lot of different flavors available. Will be back to try the different flavors. Talked to the owner and he was friendly and knowledgeable. The owner was wearing a mask.

We googled “Gelato near me” when departing the St. Louis Botanical Garden and found this gem. Staff extremely knowledgeable. So knowledgeable that it’s almost like the proverbial bar that knows just the drink you need. I recommend taking the man’s advice. You may think a piccolo isn’t very big. (The sizes are piccolo, medio, and grande). Wait for it. The grande I had difficulty finishing. If you are vegan, the gelato that is water-based is listed separately from the gelato that is milk-based. Hours are open till 9pm, except Mondays. Closed Mondays. Sit on the patio out in back near the amazing fountain. Enjoy life!

First time eating Gelato. I've heard about it, but wasn't sure what to expect. Ordered a small cup of chocolate & mint chip. I was surprised that it was very filling. The gelato was very creamy & silky, much softer than American ice cream, but not as soft as soft serve. The restaurant was small, and it felt like I was eating in someone's home. I would compare it to an Italian mini-Dairy Queen crossed with a small coffee shop. Good first experience. May be back when in the neighborhood.

Gelato has a pretty good texture and wasn’t too icy, however, I wish the shop offered its namesake flavor, riso. It’s rare to find a rice flavor gelato. Taking off 2 stars because the service in general could have been better, however, our main issue is that the counter person didn’t clearly explain the 1 sample rule (even though we were given the wrong sample in the first place. I guess he heard vanilla instead of mandorla. We let it pass since he had already scooped it.) and then was a bit rude in telling us so after we asked for one last sample after our purchase saying, “That’s just how it goes.” I would say if the shop is worried about germ transfer between masks and sample spoons, then it should also require employees wear gloves when scooping. The counter person did wipe down the POS after we touched it and was wearing a mask, so we appreciate that.

What fun, super clean, lovely woman working there, great decor, generous servings. Makes me want to go back again and again. Also found the prices very reasonable. At first, they looked expensive but when you see the size of the serving overflowing the cup, well, no complaints from this gelato loving customer!

i will say, the ice cream was good. spectacular, even. i have a lot of memories at this place. my brother was actually the one that broke the other stone bench out front five years ago. he says hi. but during my last visit to this fine establishment, i noticed this sign that said unattended children would get a puppy and an espresso. now, i was not only unattended, i was unattended with my kid brother. not the one who broke the bench. different kid. but, alas, we did not receive a dog nor an espresso. i am very upset by that. i would say that i will never return because of this, but i probably will because your chocolate is my favorite and the sugar free chocolate is my brother’s. he thinks it tastes better. he’s weird. i also enjoyed the photo of the church in florence. i think it has a name but i can’t remember it. it’s a cool picture.

Really nice little gelateria in The Hill neighborhood, on a really quaint, quiet street. They have a great selection of flavors and the gelato was pretty excellent. They lady behind the counter said they go through their stock pretty frequently and nothing is usually older than several days, so it's always really fresh. Definitely will revisit next time we're in the neighborhood.

Would like to give a better review, but it really isn’t terribly impressive. The gelato is good, but it’s very standard fare as far as gelato goes. There are no truly creative flavors, and the taste and texture, while completely fine, is nothing extraordinary. The Hill is a cute and compelling historical district full of authentic Italian restaurants, churches, etc., so I was hoping this place would really shine... but it didn’t do much to impress me. If you’re nearby and want gelato, give it a try. You won’t be disappointed. But if you’ve ever had good gelato elsewhere, you won’t be blown away, either.

Lovely little gelato place on St Louis' famed Italian neighborhood - the Hill. The gelato is excellent and the shop is adorable with some seating both inside and out. The price is mid range. If you've never tried gelato before, it is much richer than ice cream, so get a size smaller than you expect you'd want. The biggest disappointment about this place is that they aren't open all year round! But if you are on the Hill to try one of the many delicious lunch or dinner options, consider strolling down here to finish off your meal.

Adorable little hole in the wall with friendly staff and quite possibly the best authentic gelato I've ever had. My daughter, who ate gelato for 12 days straight from Florence all the way to Rome agreed that this gelato is the best she's had outside of Italy and was as good as most she had there. It is also fairly priced for the quality, and the back door heads to the Piazza Imo where you can sit in the sunshine. This place will become a regular for us.
