Reviews of Sweet Alchemy Ice Creamery
Nathan Christopher
Extremely rich and creamy ice cream! Not a fan of their Persian Rose, which is quite surprising since people come here for that. It’s a weird combination of salty pistachios and creamy milk. Nutella Banana Crunch is really good, the hazelnut kicks in while you get hints of banana flavors. Will definitely come back to try more flavors and possibly bump up the rating to five :)
Vivian Lee
Wowowow love this ice cream shop. Best part is I could get allllll the flavors I wanted!!! I got a pint with 7 flavors in it and it’s great they honored my request! I love it.
The people working here were very friendly and helpful even though I was busy causing trouble!
Mask is also requested to be worn. If you forgot or lost one they have masks inside you can wear. (Aug 2022)
You can bring back empty pint jars and get a dollar off. Thank you for reducing and reusing!
I haven’t tried all the flavors yet but Darkside is one of the more popular ones
I tried the vegan turmeric and it has a very strong turmeric taste, but sweet.
I also bought a blueberry lavender candle for $30 to gift to my brother.
Wish this was near me. :(

A very delicious ice cream shop located in the heart of U District! I ordered the a mixed cup of vanilla and raspberry-chocolate chip. The flavors are creative and unique! However, the ice cream was slightly more expensive than other ice cream shops in Seattle, but I definitely recommend if you are looking for a yummy treat!

Stopped in to try their baked goods. The Aztec cookie is *divine*, a soft, chewy cookie with dark chocolate and just the right balance of cayenne and sugar sprinkles on top. The lavender shortbread is also a winner; it's a softer shortbread texture, a nice savory treat with the lavender satisfyingly present but not overwhelming.
(Mask required so don't forget yours.)

Gorgeous vegan ice cream cake that tasted fantastic! Customized this with Vegan Blueberry Lavender and Lemon Pie ice creams and Vegan Chocolate cake layer, topped with the toasted Vanilla Meringue Frosting. The 6" was enough for the three of us to have multiple servings and spread out that birthday cheer. Finally, a place that offers ice cream cake that's vegan and oh so delicious!!
Roseanne M
The ice cream was delicious. Great variety of unique flavors. My daughter loved the pumpkin macarons. The staff was super friendly. Great atmosphere. Nice little sweet shop. We will definitely be back. Awesome service and quality food.
Alex Maloney
We got the waffle cone (10/10 fantastic) and caramel corn (7/10 not my favorite, but flavor was spot on!). Such a cute little shop. Can’t wait to try their other flavors!

Enjoyed strawberry shortcake on National Ice Cream Day. Served in a jar, which has a $1.00 deposit. Nice sharp, strawberry sauce against the sweet ice cream and shortcake layers. Cupcaks on offer too. Street parking.

I’ve tried the earl grey, Persian rose, matcha, and blueberry lavender flavors here, and all were *amazing* you can taste the freshness and creaminess in all of them. The price is steep for tiny scoops of ice cream, but you get exactly what you pay for! The flavors are rich enough that you don’t need a big scoop to satisfy
Jenny Mae Samson
Great flavor profiles! Creative and well done. The smoothness is *almost* perfect. Really good on these warm summer days.
Shravya Srinivas Rao
Sweet little corner with a variety of seasonal favourites.
We got the pico sized cup and we could take half scoops and hence taste two scoops. We chose home grown blackberry and vegan lemon pie scoops.
The portion size is great and they have lot of vegan options too.
Only con is no sample tasting and no seating inside. There are benches outside but it gets pretty cold at night.
Ruta Desai
Amazing flavors such as makgeolli, horchata, persian rose etc! Lovely area with benches and murals around to sit and eat. Favorite ice-cream in Seattle!

Stopped in to have some delicious Ice cream. Waffle cones were being made fresh, and the humans at the counter were delightful. I had a lovely taster of the Blueberry Lavender, and thoroughly enjoyed my Pumpkin Spice Latte(ice cream).
Sarah
Delicious, unique and creative ice cream flavors. I had the Persian rose and mint chip. The more adventurous flavors are better IMO. One star off cuz the waffle cones are too fragile and broke off in my hands, almost resulting in a really bad day!
Spencer Thomas
Incredible ice cream. The Persian Rose was phenomenal, as was the banana nutella. With Full Tilt out of the U District, this is the go-to for ice cream in that neighborhood, and it may have the best of any neighborhood in Seattle now.
Abhash Kumar Singh
Persian rose is unbeatable. Probably only frankie and jos is comparable to this place.
Jamie Crowley
This place is amazing! A lot of unique flavors like London Fog, which is one of my favorites - fantastic as a milkshake! You can get them in a compostable cup, Waffle cone/bowl, ice cream sandwich, or milkshake. They also have pre-made pints & ice cream cakes on display. A variety of coffee, other hot beverages, & baked goods are available. I go every time I'm in Seattle.

support your local small business! they need your help <3 we love sweet alchemy and all her homemade delicious flavors of ice cream. we love their dedication to delicious flavors that also rotate depending on what is in season, also we are in line with Sweet Alchemy' commitment to giving back to the community. go eat some more ice cream! pro tip: espresso poured on top of your ice cream takes it to another level <3
Nurşen Öğütveren
This place is such a great find! Amazing ice cream flavors for anyone who appreciates classic flavors with a twist as well as those that are more adventurous. I loves the London Fog ice cream and the black sesame. They also serve smoothies, espresso, and tea and have a great selection of fun and unique desserts like ice cream macaroons, ice cream cream puffs, and a Philosopher Stoned Sundae. This adorkable shop is well worth a visit if you're in the area.

Best ice cream in town and small family business the owner is super nice and knows how to blend flavors and make ice cream so tasteful and unique !
Thanks a lot Lois

My favourite ice cream shop in Seattle. Although it took me nearly 1 hour by bus to get to this place but it all worths my trip every single time. A big plus is I can buy a tin of ice cream to get home which saves more money and I get discount if I bring it back for refills.
They also do very great job on recycle things and eco-friendly.
Kudos!!!
Sarah Lintakoon
One of my favorite spots in Seattle, hands down. Parking is a little tight in the area, it’s mostly street parking or paid lots, as expected from Seattle. This store is adorable, great atmosphere, and always friendly staff. They do give samples, and their ice cream is made from local ingredients. You can also get affogato and dipped cone bowls; my personal favorite flavor is the sweet cream. Check it out.

I hardly ever give out 5-star reviews. I hold them back because I am scared the quality will go down or it will get too famous and the staff will become lazy but wow I was amazed by the icecream at this place. Move over salt and straw, Frankie and jo’s, and Molly Moons, we have a new leader for the best icecream in Seattle. Just writing this review has reminded me of the pistachio in the Persian Rose Pistachio icecream. I am definitely gonna go back soon because that is possibly the best flavor of icecream I have had in Seattle and one of the best of all time. It’s a cozy little place tucked away in UDistrict and you will likely miss it but the flavor of the icecream combined with the coziness of the parlour is all that you need to bring a smile to your face.
Jeannette delosAngeles
The customer service is great! The flavors are varied and numerous. You can put multiple flavors of ice cream in 1 cup/bowl with no added charge. With flavors like lavender shortbread and boozey honey as toppings this place is a good local ice cream shop.
They also serve loose leaf tea, espresso, and affogato! But, just as an FYI, there is only 1 bench for seating and no tables.
Kelly Shields
Ice cream was sooooo good! I got a variety pint and I was not disappointed in the three flavors. The store has a great vibe to it as well! However, the 2 ladies working that day were not friendly..at all..and the prices are a tad high (by just a couple dollars, maybe.) I was just visiting Seattle for the week and am thinking of going back and getting more ice cream before I leave...but maybe a different location? Maybe they will be friendly and actually smile or talk to their customers? The lady making my order took a work phone call while making mine (which was totally fine...its a small shop and the other worker had stepped out)..but whoever was on the other end of the phone received a much friendlier tone and customer service than I received (especially with it being my first time there.) while she stopped making my order to answer all the questions for the person on the phone.
Qiaojun Feng
Great ice cream cake! There are multiple size options and you can place the order online (a few days in advance).
Nikki S
Stopped by this place while I was around the area looking for good ice cream. I tried two flavours - Darkside and Persian Rose and fell in love with it!
Persian Rose a must must try if you’re a lover of pistachio and rose. It brings the flavour out so well that you will be craving for more.
Alex Nguyen
Flavorful and unique ice cream flavors! My favorite was the banana Nutella! Loved the small cup option. Friendly staff.
Yuchen Zhang
Came here to satisfy my ice cream craving during the UDistrict Street Fair. The place was definitely hopping.
Ice Cream: I got the Salted Caramel Sundae and my friends got the London Fog and the Thai Ice Tea. For my sundae - they ran out of salted caramel ice cream so I got to replace the ice cream with 2 other flavors so I tried the chocolate chip cookie dough and the mint chocolate chip. The cookie dough one didn't have much of a flavor - really just vanilla ice cream. The mint chocolate chip was not bad - good minty flavor and felt fresh. The sundae itself was kind of a disappointment - they also ran out of caramel sauce for my sundae and the whipped cream was melted. The london fog and thai ice tea was really really mild, so hardly tasted the flavor. Not my favorite ice cream place...
I also got the Ube Shortbread cookie and I was told it was the owner's first time making them - I think they need more work because the shortbread cookie was a good shortbread cookie but there was no flavor of ube. The only ube thing about them was the color purple.
You also get a $1 discount on your purchase if you return the jar that the sundae came in and I did return the jar but since I wasn't buying anything extra, I asked if I can pass along the discount to the person standing next to me that was buying something and they said No........wouldn't it have been the same if that person handed in the jar? But they refused to give that person the discount. I thought that was odd.

This is a nice ice cream place. They have great selection of ice- creams and I am their regular customer. However, I they need to train their employees better on scoop sizes. Most of their employees are great except the girl with pink hair. I asked for ice-cream in pico sized cup and she gave me half cup of ice-cream for 4$. At the same time, others customers were getting full cup of ice-cream and on asking about it she told me that their ice- cream was over scooped. Really, since when filling up a small cup is over- scooping. I paid for one more Pico and again got half cup of ice-cream. Would recommend this place but will suggest to choose some other server if you want to have a good experience.

You can try amazing flavors and get a scoop of deliciousness here :) The size of the ice cream may seem small for the price (3oz $4), but the flavors are quite uniquely strong that you don't feel like lacking anything. Would love to return!!
Nate Self
I can't say enough: incredible and inventive flavors, cute atmosphere, good portions, friendly staff! This place will make your night! Their vegan blueberry lavender ice cream is twice as good as any other regular ice cream you can find (and I'm not even vegan!) This is my new all-time favorite ice cream place! (Pictured: lavender-blueberry and green-tea/earl-grey in a waffle bowl)
Stone Age
ginger kombucha/vegan golden milk ice cream float is definitely a food experience. Feeling oddly healthy. and the rose meringue was excellent as it looks.
Aaron Thompson
The staff was great and it's a very cool shop. The ice cream was alright. We tried the Horchata, the Capitol Coffee, and the Chocolate Chipwreck. They have a cool variety of flavors.
Ben Wade
The flavor of the Persian Rose was excellent, but the texture was a bit icy. I like my ice cream super creamy, and this fell short.
Logan Webster
Fun flavors, but the ice cream leaves an unpleasant film in your mouth while eating. Also a bit pricy and they don’t let you sample before you buy.
Lauren Rex
Absolutely incredible small batch ice cream. We happily ate our ice cream outside in the pouring rain because it was so delicious and we didn’t care we were getting soaked.
Danvi Dubey
The ice cream here is delicious! The girl behind the counter was super nice and let me try a bunch of flavors until I found the perfect one. The mixed tea flavor was amazing and so was the cookies and cream. I won't lie that flavor combination goes hand in hand :P. I can't wait to go back next time I'm in Seattle!
Kira Budinger
This place is simply lovely. The atmosphere really does feel magical. Their flavors are creative and the staff is friendly. Also they have the best waffle cones I've ever tasted.
Alexis
The BEST Ice cream cake I have ever had! I didn't know if I'd ever have one again as a vegan, but they made our dreams come true <3

Sweet Alchemy is a great, alum run shop. I believe they have another location other than the one near UW now. Price isn't the best, but it's not awfully terrible. It's fairly proportional to the quality of the ice cream and honestly it might even be more "healthy?" Tastes like it and the ingredients are all provided, but to be honest, if you're getting ice cream, you don't care too much about that. They also have a ton of vegan options which means they're catering to all audiences, although I'm not a fan of the vegan ice cream here.
Location wise, it's in a great spot for students. Molly Moons is a bit far over at U-Vill and Salt & Straw is quite a ways to go. Cold Plate is deeper on the Ave. So that leaves you with Sweet Alchemy as a convenient spot for a sweet dessert.
On my first visit a few years back, I tried the Dark Side and it was very chocolately, a bit stronger than your usual chocolate ice cream. I was a fan and I think there may be brownie bits too? It's been a while so I can't recall completely. They have relatively classic options as well as their specialized flavors and I'd recommend going for any of the unfamiliar ones. The classic ones aren't too different than what you might get elsewhere so you're coming here for the special blends.
Got to try some other flavors at the U-District Food Walk. Dark Side was as I remembered, no complaints. Waffle Brittle was a great flavor as well, though the waffle bits were inconsistent. Some were a bit soggy which was not appealing whereas other pieces were fresher and crispy. Blueberry Lavender was also refreshing, you can definitely taste the lavender ice cream with a hint of blueberry flavor. I wasn't a fan of the UW Honey though, the sprinkles didn't help much either as they were kind of bland. Honey was like a sweet cream, but something threw me off, not sure what exactly.
Mischa Redenbaugh
This may be the best ice cream in Seattle, largely owing their thick and balanced sweet cream base. It's to this base they add thoughtful flavors made in house.
I've only tried five flavors. But I can't wait to go back and try more. Maybe tonight...
Robin Turner
I have been here quite a few times and every time the person behind the counter has been delightful! With their constantly rotating and always tasty ice cream flavors they are one of my fave spots in the UD. Today I was having a real bummer of a day and the woman behind the counter was so bright and smiling it really helped me get on the right track.
Vivian K
This is a really lovely ice cream shop with unique flavors and a homey interior
Peter Sloan
So good. I had the tale of two teas which was amazing! Waffle cones were delicious and the serving size is much bigger if you get it in a cone.
Kama
Amazing flavours. My favourites are blueberry lavender, London fog and chai. All are very tasty and at same time light so you don't feel bloated after having ice cream.
Natalie Cormier
I love sweet alchemy ice cream! It’s my favorite spot in the Seattle area and the Uw location is the best one. The ice cream shop does subtle flavors really well and has a smooth and creamy texture. I’ve tried tons of flavors and I like almost all of them (except for flavors that I just don’t like on principle). My favorite flavors are the magkeolli and the tale of two teas. Something I haven’t seen at other places is that sweet alchemy will have chocolate dipped waffle bowls sometimes. Point being I’m a huge fun and I try to take people from out of town here all the time. The seating for summer is also really convenient.
frank martinez
Stopped by today on the way home from a family BBQ. I ordered a small cup of the Persian Rose. It’s a unique flavor with a lovely aftertaste.
Too often the craft ice cream shops try to overpower your taste buds with weird combinations; and have limited options for portions. Instead Sweet Alchemy offers three portion sizes which makes it easy to enjoy their craft offerings.
Decor and seating area was kind of fun; especially with that street now closed to vehicles permanently.
Lucy O
Small little ice cream shop. Sadly, they still does not offer sample, but I could tell all of them could be great! In fact the ice cream I got was really nice, and cannot wait to go back to try other flavors!!
Allen
Staff was really nice and they have diverse flavors like Masala Chai and Perisan Rose
Wynston Hsu
Unique flavors. Friendly staff. Honest local business. Great ice cream.
Recently I went to pick up an online order and left without checking the bag. I realized I was missing one of my orders when I got home, but decided it was my mistake so didn’t pursue a refund. To my surprise, when checking my bank statement the order was automatically refunded without me asking!
Mikayla Cole
The service was great! Ice cream was amazing. The caramel was very gritty & thick. Its a small amount of ice cream for the price.
Ian Acosta
I had some amazing sundaes here. The hot brownie at the bottom and the great tasting ice cream really made the whole bowl come together.
Service was fantastic and friendly and super patient during the order.
The seating outside really made it enjoyable to just sit down and talk with a couple friends.
Kae Matsuda
Amazing. Cardamom is my favorite flavor and their Persian Rose flavor blows me away with it every time. Can't wait to visit in summer when eating it outside won't be miserable, but I'll have been back many times before then anyway, lol.
eiko fujikawa
We love this place.
Tasty ice cream. I tried kombctha float. it was refreshing.
They have picnic tables outside of shop.
Carlos Estrada
One of the best ice cream places in Seattle! It can be a bit pricey but definitely a worthy treat. Their ice cream cakes are a must try for those special occasions. Unique flavors are available.
Paid Street parking can be very tricky but that is to be expected in this area.
Katie Ruhr
Flavors are delicious and one of a kind here. Pairing the sweet cream with the darkside chocolate was the best decision of my life. So. Freaking. Good! Sad to live 3 and a half hours away. Will definitely be back next time I'm in Seattle.
John Chen
Decent ice cream, smaller portions than competitors like molly moons or fainting goat
Aria Blair
Best icecream in the city. In fact, it's the best ice cream I have ever had. I don't even care that it's $12 a pint, I might actually commit feloneous crimes for that Thai tea icecream.
Ahmad Durrani
I never thought vegan ice-cream would be extremely delicious. They have amazing flavors and often rotate flavors . My favorite is the 'dark side', and I have been eating that for years. I get disappointed anytime they are sold out of that flavor, but yet again they have other amazing flavors to choose from. I visit this place in peak winter months if that says anything about the quality and how good this place is. Please keep doing the amazing work and bringing joy to people.

Sweet Alchemy Ice Creamery, U-District, Seattle WA
Sweet alchemy, an interesting name (Witchcraft? Wizardry? or Magic?) but no matter the definition the result is some seriously good ice cream. Located in Seattle’s University District on the somewhat drab (if not a bit depressing) corner of University Ave and NE
43rd. Like much of the ‘Ave’, the surroundings are or can be a bit sketchy, but soon all will change when the new Light Rail station opens (on the end of the block) and Covid retreats to where, once again many small and unique businesses will come back to life. The creamery storefront is unassuming and the interior is even less so as Covid
protocols and plexiglass shields somewhat ensure overall transaction time is quick, efficient and distanced (tap to pay as cash is taboo). But really who cares, in this case it's the destination, not the journey that counts, and our GPS was squarely destined towards two deliciously, freshly made waffle cones awaiting our arrival! With one filled
with a scoop of Banana Nutella Crunch Ice Cream (Butter and brown sugar roasted bananas pureed into our sweet cream base with Nutella sauce and double roasted hazelnuts) along with a scoop of Coffee Ice Cream (Made with Olympia roasters organic big truck blend), and the other being another generously filled waffle cone featuring Darkside Ice Cream (Dutch choco with homemade Oreo and ganache swirl) and again more Banana Nutella Crunch. The silky small batch, organic, and locally sourced ice cream flavours are so genuinely rich, pure and incredibly more delicious than any other ice cream we have come across, its hard to put what your taste buds experience into words. The ice cream is more than rich so be careful that one's eyes don't exceed what one's tummy may accommodate. On our visit other deliciously sounding flavours on offer were London Fog Ice Cream (Earl gray tea with house blend of vanilla) and Persian Rose Ice Cream (Cardamom and rosewater ice cream with pistachio bits). Being ‘small batch’ you're not going to find 31 flavours, you're going to find a few unique and truly artisanal palate pleasing treats. Sweet Alchemy prides itself
on using ingredients from meticulously selected local farms to deliver the best natural taste through many creative flavors. From doing a bit of research, it also seems that flavours change and continually evolve, and additional specialities such as Ice Cream
Cakes and limited homemade baked goods are also available. Quantities of all their products are limited due to the devotion of individual product quality so selection may be limited. Staff are friendly and energetic within the Covid protocols enforced (that we all should abide by), if only abiding by one's diet was just as easy. Quality doesn’t come cheap hereabouts – a large waffle cone won’t leave much change from a ten.

Great flavours, lovely festive location with charming outdoor sidewalk seating.
Bretton Finch
Very solid local ice cream place with some unique flavors and some tea based flavors too. I've had a ton of ice cream, it's my favorite thing, and I really enjoyed this ice cream. It tasted very real and I was intrigued by all the flavors. Little more pricey, but perfectly normal for craft ice cream. If you like ice cream at all, you should stop by!
Alice Safford
Ordered Sundae Kit for my daughters Birthday as a surprise. Lois was amazing - very responsive when I called for details (order more bowls, pints). Since this was a surprise, I wanted it delivered at a specific time. She worked really hard to accommodate my request. The girls LOVED the Ice Cream and said it was some of the best they have had. A great experience!
John M
Not sure if it's always like this but the few flavors I tried were very icy and gritty textured. I had the Jitter Bars flavor and it claims to have espresso shortbread and caremel , but no one in my group could taste any coffee favor I'm it. The banana Nutella crunch was slightly better, but no Nutella flavor. Yes, it was crunchy, but only from the large crunchy ice crystals in it. The cream and milk are good quality, just poorly prepared. I'd give another shot when they allow samples again.
Jake Benson
Great ice cream in a convenient location. I personally am a big fan of ice cream. It's my favorite dessert. I had recently moved to Seattle for college and was looking for a great place to pick up a scoop from time to time. Boy was I excited when my friend showed me this place. They have a wide range of flavors and you can really tell they are hand made. The decor there is awesome and really adds to the vibe. Definitely would recommend
saurabh vaidya
My favorite ice cream place in all of greater Seattle area. The fact that their ice cream starts melting instantly tells you a lot of the quality of ingredients it has. If you're tired of eating ice cream 'desserts' and want to try the real milk ice cream, go to sweet alchemy. My fav: Persian rose
matthew tabbert
It's great to have ice cream as soon as you get off the train
Rachael Huffman
The flavors are creative, but the ice crystals were too large, like they spent too much time in the recrystalization zone in the scraped freeze stage. It gives a grainy texture, a bit like freezer burn. I had the London Fog and Thai Tea flavors.
Sarah Noelle
The flavors and ambiance were out of this world!! Best experience I've ever had at an I've cream shop, the only reason they lose one star is because the ice cream itself was...icy. I expected it to be creamier, but it was delicious nonetheless and I will definitely be back! (Also they had cute merchandise!!)
Krissi Brunoe
Stopped here while visiting Seattle and walking around UW campus.
First off, they only have a walk-up window which isn’t a big deal... but watching them grab a prescooped ice cream out of their freezer wasn’t exciting to say the least. Especially since it cost about $7-8 for the ice-cream. It was extremely hard and I had to intentionally let it melt before I could eat it.
The flavor was decent- but for this price, I expected more. 🥴
Lanae Wells
I had the Persian Rose flavor and I must say it was out of this world! The plain waffle cone was a great accent to the ice cream and not overpowering in the amount of sugar. It was such a unique flavor I couldn't resist when my housemate dragged me here after a movie outing. I must say I will definitely be back, but the only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the shop is so small and there was only a bench for seating options. But I would give half a star back because it is perfectly whimsical and vibe worthy music playing in the back. A perfect late night treat.
CA Gray
Urban ice cream shop. Trendy, creative and sweet! Pricey - but the scoops are big and the flavors unique! Lots of cups n cones to choose from, but for me there's only one; waffle. And Sweet Alchemy had the best waffle cones I've had in awhile. Fresh and handmade. I'm a Persian Rose & Sweet Cream kind of girl.
Robyn Wilbar
Although their ice cream is relatively expensive, it’s all small batch/handmade and delicious. The ice cream sandwich is the best bang for tour buck in my opinion, but I usually opt for a mili in a cone with two flavors. The staff is super friendly and the decor is cute. I love sitting in their to have my ice cream and look at their decorations.
Angela Gulisane Maisey
I got a cookie sandwich and my husband got just ice cream. We sampled A LOT of the flavors and it was very underwhelming. The cookie was delicious, but all the ice cream was watery and dull in flavor. We have noticed this in many ice cream shops around Seattle since moving here though, and maybe it is because everyone is very health conscious...but when I want ice cream I want creamy and rich flavors that feel like I need to go workout off. Staff was nice!!
Caitlin Dowhan
Unique and tasty flavours of ice-cream AND super friendly, kind and patient staff! They let us try multiple flavours and even let me split my serving so that I could get 3 flavours instead of just one! Pricey but worth it! The cookies and cold brew (or something like that) was so So SO good!
Angela Renzetti
Only been here a couple of times but the staff is so nice and their vegan ice cream is SO good (had the lemon pie today holy cow!). So nice to find non-dairy options that aren't just sorbet!
John Topper
The service was great and every flavor was amazing. They were very accommodating about letting us try lots of flavors since they have so many interesting combinations. I got the dark magic and the coffee. The deep bold flavors and textures of the dark magic lingered in my mouth for an hour after finishing.
This place is great. If you are in the area there is no reason not to go.
Jesse
Epic! Better than our fancy Utah Ice creams
Brianna Burroughs
Yum Yum Yum! My favorite ice cream spot hands down! I love their small batch process, makes every cone a special treat. The flavors are off the charts delicious, nothing tastes artificial or contrived, and the waffle cones are a must! Everything is made in-house and completely to die for. The price is a bit on the steep side but the product is above and beyond, totally worth it.
Brittney Chavez
I absolutely love this ice cream shop. Definitely the best ice cream in Seattle in my opinion. Their ice cream is the perfect balance of sweetness and is a little bit more on the icy side than super creamy which is how I love my ice cream.
Debbie Lin
Delicious traditional and vegan ice cream, perfect waffle cones. Homemade cookies, (toasted-to-order) marshmallows, and meringues if you're not in a 100% ice cream mood. Staff has been sweet and will give you an unlimited number of flavors no matter what size you choose. I'd give a 5 star, but all ice cream sizes err on the side of small and pricey.
Merilee Jones
The side window is open during modifications due to Covid at the University location. I had the rose pistachio cardamom ice cream and loved it! There were many wonderful and unique flavors on the menu I'd be happy to try in the future.
Trang Boos
I wanted to like it. The ice cream wasn’t as creamy as I’d like. The flavor tasted a bit water down. The waffle cone was very nice though, not too dense, a perfect ice cream carrier.
Bend Preschool
Felt like the owner takes the time to hire good quality staff. They were friendly clean and spunky. The ice cream was home made -soft and tasty- as if you had done it yourself. Then we found out- it is made homemade style; what a treat! The shop is small, standing room only. Worth a trip here just for the special flavors and the great customer service. We finished every drop. 😍

Needed ice cream on a hot(!) walkabout downtown, 4 year old in tow. What a blessing this was! We sat down outside at a picnic table and the Dutch Chocolate cones revived our moods, our spirits, and our 4 year old. No greater compliment can be bestowed.
Sharon Guffy
It's probably good that this place isn't close to where I live, because I would go there all the time. Ice cream is the one food that I'm really strangely picky about, and theirs is absolutely delicious. They have a great variety of flavors, too, not just the normal boring ones. I don't think I could go to Seattle anymore without visiting this place.
Vince Houmes
One of the best ice cream cones I've ever had. I got an apple pie scoop in a waffle cone, and it was slightly fluffy, just a little crystalline, and perfectly delicious. They make their apple pie ice cream by making an actual apple pie, then blending it into the base. Insanely good, I hope the next flavor I try is so amazing.
Josh Stephenson
Great ice cream. Got the coffee with brownie. Very nice owner as well
Alan Koslowski
Eclectic and creative options that vary somewhat seasonally. The staff was friendly and efficient.
Nicola Kalderash
All Organic ice cream. From locally sourced farms in Washington. Generally speaking the ingredients are only a week old before they arrive to the shop. You can taste the difference. Some of the best ice cream I've ever had in my life. Not cheap though, but worth it!
Taryn Neal
A bit pricy but good for special occasions. I love the wide variety of flavors, especially the vegan ones and enjoy the changing selection.
Miguel Eduardo Mármol
Amazing ice cream find in the U District! I had the "dark force" which was chocolate cookies with chocolate ganache ice cream. Delicious. I had it in a cup that had a waffle shape on it which was very creative and worked well for putting some yummy chocolate fudge on top. My dining companions had a butter cream ice cream, London fog (earl Grey with butter cream), and lemon custard. They loved all their flavors. They also have delicious coffee.
Diana Cho
Lois and her team did such an amazing job serving the guest at our wedding! Everyone loved the ice cream and topping bar. Definitely would recommend booking with them for any big event you have planned because they show up and deliver.
Cody Fellinge
The Thai tea iced cream is the best ice cream ive ever had. Better than coldstone, 21 flavors, even Molly moons. The decorations are amazing, service is top tier. If I could, I would eat ice cream from here all day every day. Also, they price the goods so that with tax it adds up to a round dollar amount! I love it when that happens. Definitely a must try if you're by UW. The single scoop was enough for me, but if you're with friends I would recommend sharing a triple scoop for the extra ice cream per dollar.
Jessica Lah
A wonderful local ice cream shop. Their ingredients are thoughtfully sourced, and many of the unique flavors are inspired by local ingredients. I had a honey ice cream that was sweetened with honey from UW hives. A very inventive perspective on a sweet shop. Ice cream is pricey, so it's not one that I would go to for a special treat, but well worth all the free tastings and creative scoops.
Andrew “Fae” LD
Ice cream is super rich and indulgent! The waffle cone was really buttery and the ice cream was some of the richest I've ever tasted. For some people, this might be too rich for their tastes. I liked it but already feel guilty about how many calories just went down the hatch - I'll go for cheaper ice cream next time.
Fida
My favorite ice cream place in Seattle! Great, rotating selection of flavors, with new ones invented constantly. The friendliest ice cream scoopers too, who keep a great attitude even at the busiest times. Persian Rose is my personal favorite.
Ly Huynh
The flavors here are incredibly unique, interesting, and tasty. A great place for trying something different (yet guaranteed to be delicious). Had their ice cream at an ice cream pop up event, but I’m inclined to give their brick and mortar location a try.
Jeehae Han
The owner cares about the quality and she only uses organic eggs and organic dairy. Not just icecreams but their cakes are amazing too. And they taste amazing. I wish I live nearby so I can go more often.
Rob Michaels
Among my all time favorite ice cream spots. Hands down best in the U. They have really good herbal and tea flavors. Spicy honey topping so good!
Jerred Shepherd
Great ice cream shop located near the UW dorms. Great, quick service even when it's a little busy. They have unique flavors that rotate out along with staples like sweet cream and the dark side (chocolate with brownie and chocolate ganache mixed in). They make their ice cream in house and it tastes great. They also sell baked goods like brownies, cookies, and cakes. It's a little pricey but well worth it.
Torrie Burwell
Unfortunately right now they are only offering premade single flavor cups to go with about 5 flavors available. The ice cream is delicious but I don’t want to waste single use compostables like that and haven’t seen any other ice cream shops do this during covid (not clear to me how this reduces risk). Hopefully they can figure out a better way to serve ice cream soon.
Brendan Carlson
They have good ice cream, some of the flavors are quite unusual, they live up to their name. With unique flavors and Sundaes such as the Philosopher Stoned Sundae this place has a little something for every sweet tooth.
Joy Joy
Super delicious and unique. They had a tale of two cities with two type of tea fusions, a sweet sesame ice cream. Those who love chocolate they have one. The place is well decorated. Conveniently located near the university. We had a giant group of people and then other customers come in, this was the day she worked alone. She handled it well. We all got in and out in a very timely manner and she kept her composure. Never looked irritated or stressed. It's a smaller shop so it's best to grab and go, but yhey do have benches if you have a smaller group and want to chill for a bit. It's definetly one of the best ice cream places I have gone too in the West coast. Must try and checkout. Hope you all enjoy as much as we did!
Andrew Wells (funkytown drew)
I just had a waffle cone blended into my shake! I couldn't decide so I was thinking really loudly about combining the two and they offered to make it for me. Right now I'm eating one of the best ideas I've ever had!! Also I had the Capital Coffee ice cream, and it's great if you like coffee ice cream.
Clark Schaefer
Really spectacular ice cream flavors, my first experience with them was when they had sold out of every flavor except vanilla and "London Fog", which was excellent if slightly off-beat. A good place for indie vibes.
Kymberli Ross
A delightful surprise when we were looking for an impromptu dessert option. Not the typical flavors, but delicious all the same. I look forward to being in the area again soon so I can have a double scoop with London Fog and the Green/Black Tea mix!
Dee L N
Fan girl here!! We’ve tried the salted caramel, banana Nutella and Persian rose and they’re delightful! They’re light, fresh, and delish!! The waffle but toppings is amazing! Lois is an amazing person! So down to earth and funny! We’re total fans forever!
Jessica Melton
Creamy & flavorful ice cream that is absolutely worth a stop on your visit to UW. Their tea flavors specifically are incredible, but you literally can't go wrong here.
Joshua Brown
Ice cream here is expensive - probably overly so, considering it's UDistrict location - but it's also delicious. The Persian Rose is a can't-miss for me because it's such a unique and delicious flavor. Go ahead and drop $12 on a pint.
Gloria Jackson-Nefertiti
I'm never sure when they'll be carrying vegan ice cream. When they do, there's usually only one flavor to choose from, which is no choice at all. But on this particular occasion, there were two flavors of vegan, which made me doubly happy!
Zachary
Delicious ice cream! Come back often to try new flavors. Ingredients are locally and ethically sourced and turned into delicious sweets right there. The staff are always very friendly.
Katy W
Great ice cream and sorbet. A variety of ever-changing flavors to suit any palette. Usually offers 1 or 2 vegan flavors, just as delicious or more delicious than their full flavored ice creams
Josefina Valenzuela Cerda
Interesting ice cream flavors, definitely for somebody who wants to try something new that still tastes good and sweet. Most flavors had some asian taste (chai latte with chips, and korean sticky rice for example). I do appreciated that they were more like gelato than too heavy on the milk. However, they don't have the best ice cream consistency I've tried, definitely artisanal and icy... (I eat a lot of ice cream!) Not like Mora's ice cream at Bainbridge for example which are so so creamy and yet not too heavy on the milk (lactose intolerant also so I don't like ice creams that smell like milk). Still! Try them!
Justin Holley
Often crowded, but good ice cream with unique flavors. It is a bit on the pricey side for the amount you get. They measure everything which is just silly. Just fill up my bowl please!!
Stephen Rice
Excellent service and high quality ice cream. Great flavor selections as well. Although pricey and with small portions, Sweet Alchemy is ultimately worth it if you are craving exceptional ice cream.
Andy’s Freetime
Best ice cream ever ! The blueberry Lanvender is the best lavender icecream I've ever tasted !
Lauren Eyk
This is my favorite place to get ice cream in seattle. Super creative and welcoming staff, with something new to try every time (even as a regular) - the price is absolutely worth it for house made small batch goodness. Highly recommend.
André L. S.
The flavors are fun and unique and delicious! The waffle cone was wonderfully delicate, the space is cozy (check out the wall decor and floor up close!), and the employee who attended us was sweet.
Peggy Benson
The first thought that comes to my mind about Sweet Alchemy is everything is served in large portions. Come here with the mindset to share with your friends and family. On top of that, there are so many options on the menu - it's really hard to decide because everything sounds so good.
Sweet Alchemy Ice Creamery.
Lainey
This is our favorite ice cream shop in Seattle. We prefer their flavors and overall taste over Molly Moons and Salt & Straw.
One downside, it can be difficult to find parking.
Stephanie Ryan
The most thoughtful and communicative staff! They went above and beyond for a special delivery to a friend when GrubHub failed. I’m so impressed and pleased with the effort shown by the owner and employees. Highly recommend!
Bri Hammons
Absolutely incredible ice cream! We tried six flavors and every one was delicious. I'll be back for sure. :9
Nial McDonald
Original Flavors and an incredible staff. I always feel welcomed and if I'm ever indecisive they've always been able to point me in the right direction. Snow Cookie, Darkside, and jitter bars are my all time go tos, but they have so many interesting and changing flavors you can always find something that'll satisfy your sweet tooth.
Quintia Sweat
Flavors to go were limited but there were more options if you wanted a pint which wasn't an option for us as we had roughly 25miles to drive back home and didn't necessarily want to buy so many different options. Keep in mind they are not accepting cash due to COVID. Good thing we had another payment option.
Milena Boyce
Always kind and attentive staff with unique and delicious ice cream! (Bonus on how much of it is locally sourced, along with all of the compostable, single use products)
Or Shwartz
The Persian Rose and the Bourbon Maple Pecan ice creams I had were very good. They certainly don't skimp on flavor in that place and I like it that they have uncommon options.
Bianca Glinskas
The Persian rose and blueberry lavendar are my favorite, ever (and I'm a chocolate girl usually). This place is dangerously good. A bit pricey but the quality and flavors are worth it.
Olivia Riggs
my favorite ice creamery! beats molly moon, salt n straw, cold stone, baskin robbins- with local ingredients you cannot go wrong! This place is magical- please try the waffle brittle. Also, if youre a verizon customer, there is a BOGO deal available through Verizon Up Local Offers - FYI!!! Go treat yo self
karnav joshi
Best thing ever happend to me in 2019! Worlds best icecream are made here! Dark side and sweet cream and Persian rose are the best icecreams. After eating their ice cream now no other icecream can be a comparison! You guys are the best, thanks for being here!
Jeremy Hawkins
It's all very good, everyone is really nice, the ice cream is good, but I want to emphasize that I think they make the best cookies I've ever had. Go for the ice cream sandwich, or even just the cookies which are extremely affordable.
rob 000
At first I was hesitant but mixing a flower into ice cream that was home made was a great idea . I had the lavender blueberries. Lavender has the property to help with sleep. This store is SO AMAZING!!
Wilson Ferreira
I recommend!! Really good waffle cone!
ZeusRTX
Very delicious handmade ice cream, some infused with tea, sake and seasonal cherry blossom in spring.
Daniel Rodriguez
Ice cream here is really good, I got the vegan Vanilla Latte and it had great texture. Look around the shop, the menu can be hidden, I missed out on their sundae.
Ritu K. Coleman
They've got some fun concepts for their ice cream, but after tasting a few, realized that the flavors were pretty subtle and most tasted like vanilla ice cream. There is always a really long wait to get in, but not worth it in my opinion.
Sheen Hunter (#SheenTV! #SeattleFreeze)
Women owned business! BEST ICECREAM IN THE CITY! There is always new flavors like green & black tea, taro, honey lavender, theo's chocolate and local coffee roaster's. They have a thai milk and everything is fresh and made in house.
Adrianna P
SUPER unique flavors. very tasty. very delicious. I got a thai iced tea flavor which isn't that crazy but it was literally so good.
Judith Rivas
This place has some of the best ice cream I've ever had and I don't even like sweets! The London Fog (Earl Grey tea ice cream) was excellent, I cannot wait to go back :):)
G
A little corner pakced with a tasty, tasty flavors. Many of which rotate frequently! Some of my favorites have been London Fog, Butterbeer (You're a wizard, Harry!), A Tale of Two Teas (Earl Grey and matcha), and the UW Honey is a fantastic stand-by, if you can't decide.
It's local, dig? Like, the berries come from nearby, the honey comes from UW (duh), and they blend it together like, well... Sweet Alchemy, get it?
Staff has always been friendly (and accomodating with samples!), the place is always clean, and they're very transparent about where their products come from. Also, it's some delicious ice cream, perhaps some of the best in North Seattle!
Nicholas Groenke
It's good ice cream, but there have been times when we didn't get the flavor we asked for, which is disappointing. Taste each scoop before you leave, I guess.
Rebeca Parker
Really enjoy that they use the 2good2go app to help with reducing waste
josh kim
Nice staff. Good ice cream
Bosco Maser
This independently-owned by a lovely inviting woman, crafts small batch delicious flavors that are nothing but elegant on the palatte, at a respectable price point for a high quality Artisan treat.
Ryan Moriarty
Super good little ice cream shop but definitely on the pricy side, even when compared to the other small batch artisan ice cream places. Limited places to sit inside so keep the weather in mind if it’s a busy time of day!
Curtis Hanner
The next best thing to homemade ice cream is the small batch ice cream of Sweet Alchemy.
Maddison Brumbaugh
Sweet Alchemy is one of humanity's great successes. It's almost always open, the workers are always exquisitely kind, and the ice cream is AMAZING! Really, truly fantastic!
David Stratman
The crew put up with a lot of kids with kindness and every sample they wanted. The quality was awesome. Only downer was the price was high but it was delicious!
Miwako Ito
I would say that ice cream was good, but I was put off by the really high prices... There also wasn't a huge selection. Overall the shop was extremely clean though and the staff were very nice.
Rhyannon Hayes
It's definitely the best ice cream I've had, LOVE blueberry lavender! But because it's organic it's double the price of any other ice cream shop's prices :(
Adrienne Follett
Fun flavors and cute store. Cakes and ice cream macarons. Not super premium, creamy ice cream like Molly Moons, but still fun to try. Pricy and smaller portions.
Katie B Williams
Favorite ice cream around! Local, organic, and super delicious!! They even make their own sprinkles!! Highly recommend 🍦 …
Ben Pham
Tasty ice cream. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Ashley
Very delicious ice-cream but very expensive. Their smallest size (pico) is around 4 dollars
Marisha Medrano
Delicious ice cream and vegan options. Love the rose and tea flavors, very cute shop. Compostable containers and utensils!
Jamie Elves
Best ice cream I've ever had. Atmosphere is super cute and clean. Will recommend to friends and come again.
Rahul Mallik
The flavours are excellent. I mostly stick to chocolate or coffee based stuff. But the rose and blueberry were good too.
Herakles Li
Dropped by for some afternoon ice cream. Really appreciate the decor and compostable everything. Wish they had more flavors to choose from and a bit larger scoops.
Lucas Duffey
Interesting flavors but they aren't especially vivid in taste.
The shortbread flakes tasted like chunks of cardboard. Texture was super off.
Aubrey S
great ice cream! and a waffle cone that is smaller than average and was the perfect size to not make me feel sick like they usually do
Chelsea Wendt
Honestly, I found the flavors to be over-engineered. It lost the classic ice cream charm, so I just felt like I paid a lot for a bourgeoisie small scoop.
Christine Gilbert
Love the name! Too many tea flavored icecreams to choose from though. The vanilla was the best of the 3 I had.
Aaron John
Super good ice cream with interesting flavors, always different but I still haven't found one I disliked yet.
jiffygal4
Loooooove this place. Better ice cream than Molly Moons and all natural. Try the London Fog. It's frozen Early Gray heaven. So creamy and strong.
Latricia Fatimah
The place was great! They have unique choices and advertise as selling " gluten free ice cream ". I don't know if they were serious or not but it's funny either way
Angkana Huang
Awesome flavors, very friendly, mindful, AND environmentally conscious too! Love them! I totally recommend the Aztec chocolate!
Christopher Goatley
Friendly staff, smallish, but exciting selection of excellent ice creams. Well recommended
Laurel Marsh
Best flavors, all seasonal, and super tasty if you like the base ingredients (the mint tastes like the authentic mint plant, not just the mint flavoring!!)
Keith Aspinall
The ice cream selection was great and the test was awesome. It was definitely full day. 😊 …
Tania Gonzalez
Delicious flavors. Good for people who like adventurous flavors as well as more normal flavors. The staff is really nice and the atmosphere is great.

Sean Michael

Matt Carter
These guys are always solid! The ice cream is some of the best in the city and the pastries never disappoint!

The law of equivalent exchange doesn't apply to this alchemy; you give a nominal amount for phenomenal ice cream. Sweet Alchemy indeed! Full Yummy Alchemist!

Kristen Montgomery

Abhinav Maurya
Happiness is a scoop of earl grey ice cream + a scoop of masala chai ice cream.
Udochi Nwobodo
I found it to be basic....nothing spectacular.....an in true Seattle nature, overpriced. Range of flavors were sort of limited. Has a great location going for it though
Clara Mullins
Amazing range of ice creams and the staff are so lovely here. It’s become my local weekend place now
Brianna Diaz
Friendly staff, diverse flavors with consideration for all dietary restrictions. A little spendy for the amount of ice cream though.
