Reviews of Salt & Straw
Julia Chiu
Amazing ice cream shop with unique flavors! They offer you to try any ice cream you would like. The pear + blue cheese flavor throughly surprised me as how good it was, and I hate blue cheese. Their seasonal jasmine flavor is amazing as well! Highly recommend. Reasonable price for a large scoop as well. Will be coming here again.

Ice cream shop with lots of creative flavours. They do seem to be made in batches, so just be aware that they might be out of some flavours when you go. I got one with a basil flavour and liked it. They get pretty busy, so don't be surprised if there's a line when you get there.
Not docking any stars for this, but after lining up for about 10-15 minutes in line I made it to the counter and the person working there ignored me for a minute while flirting with a coworker. I'm all for having fun while you work, but it was pretty rude - putting me in a position to either wait a minute or two or interrupt myself. I just wanted my ice cream after waiting so long.

This was one of the best ice cream I've ever tasted. The salted hazelnut praline s'mores flavor was so delicious. They offer samples and have many interesting flavors to try. Pint size ice cream is also available for purchase.

I am visiting Seattle and wanted something for dessert. I saw that this place had great reviews and was not a really far walk from the hotel I am staying at. Right when I walked in, even being my first time. The menu was really easy to read and navigate and the gentleman working in the front who served me was really nice. I got one scoop of the cinnamon snickerdoodle and it tasted great. The one scoop was a perfect size for me and reasonably priced in my opinion.

Salt and straw has a lot of unique flavour for gelato. The staff was so friendly and let me tried multiple flavours! They have flavours like olive oil which low key reminds me of butter.
I’ve got honey lavender and a pear blue cheese gelatos. Honey lavender is what I expected and pear blue cheese is very unique. There’s candies pear in it which makes the texture good. There is a little bit of blue cheese chunk too. I’m not a big fan of blue cheese so I wouldn’t recommend it if you detest blue cheese. It wasn’t bad overall though, as the pear flavour made up for it.

Great rotating menus, great staff and good flavors. A lot of non dairy options which is a plus in my opinion. This place from what I hear is always packed. It was pretty cold when we went and the line was still out the door. So I'd say this place is wildly popular and the ice cream was good.
Erika Oliver
Delicious ice cream! Love that they have basic flavors as well as some more adventurous options! 10/10 would recommend! Would highly encourage getting a flight so you can taste lots of flavors!
Ben Jams
Love salt and straw and their rotating flavors. Ice cream quality is always good, creamy, and usually well balanced.
This review is more geared towards this location. It's always busy and chaotic bc cap hill sometimes the servers can get snippy... During my last visit the same server messed up the scoop size or something but one of us got like half the size as the other. Will stick to the Ballard one....

SO GOOD. Just try it. You wont regret it. Interesting flavors, without being too sweet. And the waffle cone smells amazing. I got split flavors: honey lavendar and sea salt with caramel ribbon. And i mean....no complaints, just mouth watering. My friend got chocolate owey brownie, and it was a classic so well done. I wish i sampled the pear and blue cheese flavor

One of the more innovative ice cream parlors you're likely to find in America, this growing brand does its best to incorporate local flavors into its products, so offerings you find in Miami will not match those you get here. There will be a line, but if you stick it out, you'll leave happily. Luckily, service is pretty darn fast and the workers on the line serve those in the live and at the counter. Their teamwork is actually pretty impressive. I didn't get a lot of photos here. I was too busy going at my cone.

Good place for dessert.
Place is small with outdoor benches to sit and hang.
The ice cream is different than what I'm used too. I think the milk made for the ice cream is different.
Overall the ice cream is good and worth the trip .

No salt. No straw.
Just @saltandstraw
Makes sense right? Well neither do most of their funky flavors that everyone says are truest amazing. They also don’t have a location near me in NYC, so when I did walk past them on my Seattle trip, I had to try their ice cream finally.
My mom and I aren’t super adventurous when it comes to ice cream flavors usually. She thought their cookie dough flavor, I thought about the salted caramel, but ultimately we decided on chocolate gooey brownie and got the cone on top so we could break it and split it easily.
It was some good ice cream but it’s still not my fave or it’s chocolate fudge brownie from van leeuwen down the street.

Went at night and there was a line outside. It was obviously a very popular ice cream place and it did not disappoint. Ordered Boysenberry Sherbet and Berry Slab Pie. The Boysenberry Sherbet was light and refreshing while the Berry Slab Pie was rich and had a hint of saltiness - the perfect combo!
Hiral V
Lovely ice cream shop! Tried 2 vegan flavors and they were good. 🙂 Also loved the cute note for the pickup ❤️ …

I’ve heard about salt and straw for a long time and so wished that they can open some branch in east coast! Really love that they offer different seasonal special flavors that you can come back to try some surprisingly good new flavors! The monster blood is actually mango flavor with some extra sweetness from toffee or something and was surprisingly tasty. But my favorite is cold brew coffee cashew praline. Best for coffee lovers!!!
Bao Ngo
What is to say they make the best ice cream. Their portions are generous and you get sample the flavor before you have to choose l.
Jane Lee
Super unique flavors and equally super staff, they’re very helpful and want to make sure you like what you get. Loved the cone and sprinkles options, and I liked that they were open a bit late. Really clean and quick.
Shelby Curren
Fantastic flavors: so rich, creative, and expertly executed. Favorite: strawberry honey balsamic vinaigrette. Only negative is that the waffle chips in the flight are a bit stale/soggy.
Sindu
This would be one of the best ice cream shops I have been to. They have some really unique flavors and some interesting seasonal flavors. They are all delicious.
They also sell pint sized versions of their ice creams.
There is no designated parking, so you will have to find street parking. Sometimes in the night after 9 pm, the lines get really long. Super nice staff too!!
Highly recommend this place.
Tugrul Ussakli
Best ice cream in the town. I love this place. They are limiting the capacity inside and it is a good measure against the Covid.
Daria
We went there multiple times. Soo good. Just try it. This place offers you ice creams with unique flavors. Personally, I like sea salt with caramel and something with chocolate(can’t remember the name).
Stephanie Corte
This a great spot for unique and yummy flavors of ice cream in Seattle. We overall enjoyed the consistency, texture, and taste of the ice cream. They were very packed when we showed up, and with social distancing measures in place, the line wrapped around outside so we did have to wait for quite a while. I’d like to come back when they open the inside seating again, because it seems like they have a good vide during normal times.
Suyash Agrawal
I am picky on flavors and as most the flavors here are funky I have a hard time picking a flavor. Sometimes they're a miss but more often than not I'm surprised by a tasty new flavor.
Manaswi Karra
The sea salt with caramel swirl (which is one of their classic flavors) beat all other flavors, even the seasonal eclectic ones!
The birthday special and berry flavors were too sweet. Liked the cone.
Tomas Narvaja
My friend and I came here to delight in a treat after our drink together. Boy was I dazzled. Not only did they have unique, unheard of flavors, along with your typical ones for the less adventurous folks, but their customer service was phenomenal. We had June come up to us and chat before inviting us up to the counter. I asked to try a flavor or two before June started to get an idea of what kind of person I was and asked if I wanted to try a few flavors based on his recommendation. I was very intrigued and appreciated it. The flavors June introduced me to I would have never considered and were completely newfangled for my palette. Even when I tried ones I didn't like, I found myself appreciating the eccentric experience each flavor provided. I ended up choosing two flavors, one of which June had recommended. Overall, 10/10 experience, both in terms of customer service and in terms of ice cream. Would recommend. Very queer friendly.

I'm currently visiting the Seattle area (it's beautiful all over). I was looking for a quick snack and I'm blessed to find Salt & Straw! This is the best ice cream I've ever eaten (I'm not even joking). They have a diversity of flavors and you can sample them as well. I especially love their vegan options, as they taste very delicious while being lactose. Thank you!
Casey T
Really good ice cream! They also have 3 vegan options. Line is usually out the door at night, but it moves quickly. They aren’t doing samples right now because of COVID. Highly recommend stopping by!
Julia Rosenthal
Went to Salt & Straw after having this place hyped up to us. I got the hazelnut chocolate cupcake flavor, expecting it to taste kinda like the hazelnut chocolates (Nutella, Ferrero rocher) and it didn’t taste anything like it. The people I went with mostly liked their flavors— my BF got cinnamon snickerdoodle and ooey gooey brownie, loved the ooey gooey brownie flavor but didn’t love the snickerdoodle.
Overall I loved the vibes in here, Ice cream was okay, I think it’s a little over hyped but I would go back and try another flavor— maybe I just ordered wrong the first time
Erin Beesley
Salt & Straw ice cream is creamy deliciousness. Unique flavors with quality ingredients.
Zane Boren
If you like ice cream and want the opportunity to try some weird flavors then you'll love this place! All flavors I sampled were great. The cowboy coffee grinds with bourbon is really good! If you like coffee flavor, brownies, and gobs of fudge laced throughout then this one is for you! Mushroom muddy buddies has some chewy mushrooms in it. The flavor is good but I think the chewy textures is what you will either love or hate. Go eat some weird food!
Asia Blankenship
It’s really difficult to describe the unadulterated joy this place fills you with. The ice cream is absolutely phenomenal, but the best part is undoubtedly the staff! June went above and beyond in guiding me through the flavors and even explained why some of the flavor profiles worked so well together. He and the other team members elevated what was already an exciting experience and made me feel like a giddy little kid in line for the ice cream truck. Never thought strawberry, balsamic and pepper could be so amazing.

I have been a fan of salt and straw for years. Their sea salt and caramel ribbon is so good and always on the menu. Also recommend the olive oil ice cream. The smoothest ice cream I have ever had. They have limited edition flavors every season which is always fun. I strong suggest getting a "flight" which let's your taste up to four flavors for a very reasonable price. Fun for bringing friends.
Michelly Calzadilla
What can be said that hasn't already about Salt & Straw? The flavor combinations are bizarre, yet almost always delicious. The staff are polite and cheerful, with quick service (if there isn't a line). I've been into the Capitol Hill location several times and it's been consistent with other locations, which is to say it's been very positive. Can you tell I'm a big fan of Salt & Straw? It's my favorite ice cream place for a reason. Go here if you haven't already!
Cheyanne Farr
The ice cream is so creamy and the flavors are so fun! Love that they have black waffle cones for Halloween right now. The Salted Malted Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough & Chocolate Gooey Brownie pair perfect together too 🤤 …
Jane Illario
Obsessed with this place and take visitors to the city here every time. The flavours are always so thoughtfully crafted, the staples taste great, and there is also always something new to enjoy. The ice cream quality and quality of service are always top tier. Strongly recommend!
Cindy Yuong
Got an ice cream flight from Salt & Straw for the first time! Super exciting to be able to try so many flavors (we even split some of the flight scoops to try more 🙈 thank you). The Goosebumps (salted mango with strawberry bark) was a favorite of the group. Honey lavender wad unexpectedly good - not too strong on the floral, has an almost tea like finish in the mouth. Strawberry coconut water sorbet was creamy and nice, strong on the strawberry, wouldn’t notice it’s dairy free. Mint, caramel, and chocolate were delicious as well. 👌🏼

Salt & Straw has a stellar reputation, and it is 103% legitimate!
Salt & Straw has been featured in many places, from TV, to internet articles, to food staples for tourist and it is absolutely a place to rave about. This place knows how to do ice cream right. They only have a small selection in ice cream flavor, but every selection option is like a taste of ice cream heaven.
Due to COVID-19, there currently is not option for enjoying your ice cream in store but that is no problem, just grab one of their delicious waffle cones and eat the cone and ice cream on the go while exploring the streets of Seattle. There is usually a line to get into this ice cream shop but as mentioned already, this ice cream is one of the best you will ever have.
Prices are a bit on the pricey side but quality of the ice cream legitimizes the price. The service is outstanding, from the usher at the front door limiting indoor capacity to the folks scoping ice cream everyone is nice, patient, and helpful.
Parking can be a bit of a challenge. There are some street parking areas nearby however you should expect that those parking spots are almost always occupied.
If you are looking to taste amazing ice cream, this Salt & Straw in Seattle will easily make the top 5 of your list. Check it out!

Great Ice Cream. One of Seattle’s most famous ice cream places. Wanted to taste more flavors, but they don’t have tasting due to covid restrictions. They also have seasonal flavors, which are worth trying. One of the few ice cream shops which is open till late (11 pm currently), which helps to grab a dessert after dinner.
Roland Deguilmo
I always love this place. Went here first in Portland then came to Seattle and had to try it again after a friend recommended it after dinner! I had the Sea Salt Carmel ice cream and the mint chip and it was amazing! It was Soo good that we went the next night after a night exploring Pike Place and it was so worth the trip again. I tried the seasonal ice cream Honey lavender and Marionberry Coconut. We loved trying all the unique and interesting flavors. Staff is always super nice and accommodating patient enough to let you try all the flavors of ice cream and offering their suggestions on great pairing of ice cream
Zach K (zgkproductions)
You won’t find better flavors or service anywhere else! We stopped in on the morning of 9/2, and the workers let us try all the new fall flavors! The people there seemed genuinely happy to let us try them and asked us where we were from. The ice cream was amazing too. Come here or miss out!!
Ian M
Lots of cool and unique flavours including a creepy crawlies seasonal with a secret (🪳) ingredient. I had Cinnamon Snickerdoodle which was amazing. …
Sunny
It was my first visit so I got the classic flavors: sea salt caramel and chocolate gooey brownie. The texture and flavors were rich, the double scoops generous and the perfect size for two people to share. There was a line but it moved fast. There were a couple benches outside for people to sit and eat.
While the ice cream was incredible, I know I would enjoy cheap ice cream from the grocery store just as much. Next time if I'm going to spend $7 on two scoops, I'll go for the special flavors instead.
Ayse
Very friendly staff. Tasty flavors. I recommend getting the honey & lavender, it does not taste soapy! The cold brew flavor is also nice for people that don't like sugar that much.
Bridget
One of the top 3 best ice cream shops in Seattle imo. Lots of very yummy, creative flavors. Would say 5 stars if they had more vegan options, including a vegan cone and vegan hot fudge.
Rosie Lu
I had such a lovely experience at Salt & Straw! Not only was the employee behind the counter incredibly friendly and helpful, but the ice cream was so delicious. I got a scoop of the pear & blue cheese flavor as well as a free sample of honey lavender on top. Overall a great experience, i highly recommend!
Alex Maloney
The Freckled Mint TCHO-colate chip (v) was amazing! Not too sweet or overpowering with the mint flavor. I also got the Salted, Malted, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, which was decadent and rich, but again, not too sweet! I love how their flavors don’t make me feel like I’ve eaten a bag of sugar or gained 10lbs after a few bites. Can’t wait to try their other perfectly crafted flavors! 🍦
SY L
Delicious ice cream! 🍦I ordered two scoops, which costs me $8.26 in total. The flavors I chose are honey lavender and almond brittle with salted ganache. Both of them are tasty. The portion is really large. One scoop might be enough for two adults. Two scoops are just too much for me. The price is a little bit high. That’s the only reason that made me decided to take off one star. The staffs are super friendly. Recommend!
Shari Sweet
Amazing service & delicious ice cream!! We tried the birthday cakes/ blackberries & strawberry honey balsamic w/ black pepper as well as the pear & blue cheese. All were so delicious. Our server Nick made the experience all the better. Give him a raise!!! Thanks, Nick!!
Sam Horine
Scoops, I did It again…I’ve been on a huge Salt & Straw kick this summer and thus tried a ton of the flavors and I can say that I love them all. Best flavors IMO: Strawberry Rhubarb Crumble, Cold Brew Coffee Cashew Praline & Salted Malted Cookie Dough. Do yourself a flavor and try them all🍦 …
Kathy Burnette
Fran’s Almond Gold Bar - exquisite! Decadent and smooth with an abundance of flavor. Well-balanced. Best ice cream I’ve ever had.
Adam Figuracion
Very unique flavors and a wide variety to choose from, but it wasn’t the best consistency. I chose the honey lavender and oat flavor. They had freezer burn and the consistency was icy.
Duy Nguyen
Cool ice cream place. Definitely one of the better ice cream i have tasted.
Ben Kramer
Their ice cream did not disappoint! I've come by a couple times in the time I've lived in the neighborhood and their prices are not only affordable, but their flavors are quite memorable.
A plus of living in the neighborhood is that I walk by there on a daily basis and absolutely LOVE the aroma of just-baked waffle cones as it wafts from the store.
Craig H
fun unique flavor flaves. Better than expected: Pear and blue cheese. The chocolate brownie is good for a chocolate ice cream but doesn't have a unique flavor.
Shayne Leitman
Incredible ice cream! The employees are always very helpful and willing to let us try the different flavors, and they all always taste great.
damien dumayas
There’s always some weird ice cream going on here! You can get cheese, olive oil, pumpkin, carrots and more here.
Fenot
Excellent customer service. I am a gelato kind of person but when I need ice cream this is where I get it.
Justin Wade
I wanted Ice Cream really bad due to the incredible week of sun we had this early in April. I have been to all the other places around the hill. Yes, they all good. But, I wanted something different. I needed flavor, and wanted something to make me feel like a little kid. After a quick Google search I found Salt and Straw that puts a variety of items including LUCKY CHARMS into ice cream.
Well, sign me up. I got two scoops, typical hill prices around 8 or so bucks all in. I got the lucky charms one of course, which was delicious. BUT the peanut butter crunch flavor, was AHHHHMMAAZING. It reminded me of nutter butter cookies as ice cream. Highly recommend!
Sins Of Wanderlust
Fantatsic ice cream and worth the inevitable wait. A collection of unique flavors and also seasonal one-offs. They also sell ice cream in containers you can take home. Each flavor is an adventure and well worth the visit. Friendly and fun staff.
Theodore Hellmann
You can smell how good the ice cream is from the street! Delicious ice cream shop in the middle of Capitol Hill with a rotating menu of limited edition flavors as well as a classic flavor menu. The staff are very friendly and quick to help with samples and recommendations. The Goat Cheese Habanero and Foraged Berry flavors are my favorites so far - but I’d definitely recommend getting the sampler to get a selection of different scoops.
Troy Cooper
Who eats ice cream in the middle of a snowstorm? This guy... and we are so glad that we did! This is a larger store compared to the ones in Los Angeles and we were greeted with a very friendly staff. Cory took very good care of us. He talked is through the limited edition flavors & we sampled every single one of them (ask for them all—you can try em). My usual go to favorite is the sea salt & caramel ribbon but I had to get one of the limited edition flavors. The ambience is crisp and clean with a comfortable lay out. The ice cream is fresh and delicious with enough classic & risky varieties for every pallet. The staff was friendly, engaging & extremely helpful. Highly recommend Salt & Straw at this location.
Karlos Francisco Gomez
I like the variety of flavors you can choose from! My friend and I enjoyed ordering and eating at Salt & Straw. Service was delightful as well.
Nicholas Gangloff
Compared to Molly Moon down the street, I really like this place more. The honey lavender was just amazing, and they also have a really good ice cream tasting flight that is a reasonable price to share with friends.
The place is quite loud and packed, so you have to decide if you want to eat outside in the cold, or stay inside a very loud room. Regardless, the ice cream is still very good.
Rik kern
This is maybe the best ice cream I have ever had. OMG I had the sea salt Carmel and it was so amazing. I had almost forgotten what real awesome ice cream tastes like. Well here it is. It's heaven in a cup or cone. You absolutely need to try this place. Just incredible
Marinos Vomvas
Entering the place, an industrial scene playing rock music and full of the smell of a fresh waffle. Packed with people eating their ice creams and a long queue waiting for one. The queue moved fast and we got to tasting.
The ice cream is rich and delicious in interesting combinations of flavors. I got the Strawberry Honey Balsamic with Black Pepper and the Beecher’s Cheese w/ Peppercorn Toffee, both amazing.
The other highlight was the cone, freshly baked in front of our eyes, crispy and buttery.
Hands down, one of the best I have tried in the US.
Yen
I have to say their Seattle localized flavors are what I appreciate most for the store. You can tell how creative they are from how they try to mix ice cream with local materials. And that's definitely the right spirit to be a good restaurant. I orded Rachel’s raspberry Ginger and intrigue green basil, both are tasty. Even though I like local Molly Moon, however, salt and straw‘s spirit for mixing local materials is what I most admire to. Highly recommend to step by.
Kaitlyn Study
The ice cream here is AMAZING. I walked by (not planning to get ice cream) and had to do a double take because it smelled so delicious- obviously I went in. They allow you to try multiple flavors and choose a cup or cone. They also have unique flavors but traditional also so it appeals to all. Highly recommend a visit!
Suma T
If you are in Seattle, Salt & Straw must be in your list for a unique experience of local ice cream flavors that will make one rethink of same boring flavors we grew up with. Staff here is happy to give you different ice cream samples. It’s a good idea to try half scoops & try all of them! Visited here around 5 pm to avoid long lines.
Pablo Tapia
Just wow. The amount of creativity in each ice cream this place sells is extraordinary. They make such a great effort to combine local flavors that they extract the best of Seattle into a cone of cold perfection. Well done.
Joy N
Yum!! Their salty chocolate chip cookie dough was fantastic. Next time I think I’ll try their fancy birthday cake flavor. Really delish and perfect for a summer day.
Jeremiah Klassen
If you're a fan of Molly moons, then salt and straw is essentially it's sister in terms of ice cream goodness.
They got some good exotic ice cream, and I have to say it's just a bit more tasteful then Molly's. I love salted caramel, and I prefer the one they have here than the ones at Molly moons because this one isn't predominantly salty. It's sweet enough and salty just to be satisfying.
First time I got a cone in a while, and if you haven't gotten one lately either, this is a good place to start.
Alejandro Guerrero
Really great ice cream! The Seattle chocolatier limited edition flavors are amazing, especially the green basil and chocolate cocoa nibs one!
My favorite is the coffee and whiskey, and my wife loves the lavender one.
Sarah Lintakoon
Super delicious ice cream here! They use local and fresh ingredients based on where the store is located, so the flavors differ depending on region. My personal favorite flavor is the vegan strawberry coconut. They have lots of vegan flavors, seasonal flavors, and the staff is always friendly. This place is known for a wait but the staff will go out into the lines and offer samples and take orders to speed things up. You can also buy pints, which I think is a plus. Check it out !
Ethan Cass
Been to this place twice now on two separate occasions visiting Seattle, really quick, good employees and clean store. Love the flavors specifically the lavender
Bob Chan
This store just opened up earlier in February and there was already a long wait with a ton of people who wanted to try it out. as with every Salt & Straw they have the unique flavors that every city has as well as those classic flavors that every Salt & Straw has. The bathrooms and the interior is quite sleek and nicely designed as well as clean. And don't forget to ask them for samples they give you as many as you want so you can choose a flavor that you crave!
Beune
Expensive but big quantities and often renewed - and original - flavors. The cinnamon snickerdoodle is my absolute favorite (and thankfully a permanent one)
Vivian Lau
I've been to salt and straw in California. This one is more spacious than the one I've been too. There's some limited seating inside, a lot of people hanging around outside as well. The staff was nice. You can sample flavors, I like that they have limited time flavors they switch up. Not as many flavors as the one in California I believe. I tried the mint chocolate with Theo chocolate made with coconut milk. It was decent. About $5 for a single scoop. Their waffle cones are good.
Overall: Cute place with unique flavors to go for ice cream. Vegan/non dairy flavors available
Amber Shipley
Excellent vegan ice cream. (They also have regular ice cream). Friendly staff and they let you try many flavors!
Gary Samson
OMG, this place. This. Place. Not because the parking, because there isn't any. Not because the ambiance, because there isn't any. Not because the seating, because there is barely any. This place because in my 25 years in Seattle, I've not had better ice cream short of Viking Feast from Poulsbo.
The ice cream from Salt & Straw is inventive, imaginative and best of all, even flavors I was sure I wouldn't like, I am looking at you Corn & Caramel or Cheese & Peppercorn, I was surprised by.
Get the flight of kids scoops. Try as much as you can. Don't be afraid. You will be glad you did! Amazing ice cream shop.
Frank Hu
First time trying their ice cream and was blown away by the variety of different flavours and service.
The shop had a line up out the door around evening and it took around 10-15 minutes before we were able to get our ice cream.
Staff were super friendly and offered unlimited samples. We were really impressed as they were able to remember all the flavours we wanted to try in our group.
Their vegan-option ice cream was very good and tasted nothing like the other stores I’ve tried.
Truc Luong
The Ellenos Yogurt & matcha is a must if you like a little sour and creamy. One of my favorite desserts on earth. Honey lavender is really tasty even I am not a fan of ice cream.
Sarang Rakhecha
Loved it. Very unique flavors of ice cream. And plenty of vegan options. Wish they had milkshakes too. But none the less, I liked the place. I had honey lavender and is worth trying
Andre
The line proves the fact that this is one of the best places for ice cream in Seattle. They have all kinds of wacky seasonal flavors with strange ingredients but delicious flavor! Anything is worth a shot here, regardless of how weird the flavor might sound.
The staff is great and the line moves quick. My only complaint is that the ice cream sometimes has ice crystals like it may have gotten warm, but those complaints are few and far between.
Carlos Vallejo
If you're going to be in Seattle, definitely check out this place for their specialty ice creams!
They have different types every time I go and I try something new along with one of my previous favorites if they have it available. It is extremely tasty although it is pricey, remember you're paying for the experience.
Oftentimes, expect a really long line to be able to get an ice cream. That's pretty much the only downside along with there being no parking.
Matt Tatoczenko
Delicious ice cream experience. Lots of room inside to move around. When you get to the counter, they let you try samples of various flavors, and there are a lot of flavors available. I'm a fruit ice cream person, so I went with their strawberry with balsamic vinegar in it. That was really good. Ice cream flavors here are fantastic. Waffle cones aren't expensive either, so get one of those if you want.
Aimee Martini
I haven't had a flavor yet that I'm thrilled about. The waffle cone is absolutely delicious. The staff was very nice.
Hisaiah Jack
I love salt and straw. Probably my favorite ice cream place just because of the cold brew coffee and cashew praline ice cream. Its so good for coffee lovers and has a nice chew with the cashew bits. If I could eat this everyday I would. 15/10 would eat again.
Megha Aggarwal
I first tried their icecream in Portland and absolutely loved it and was so happy when they opened their stores here in Seattle. There is always a big line anytime you go but it’s totally worth it. I have had their tasting flight and I like that you can have 4 different flavors at the price of almost 2 single scoops. The single scoop is quite big so I sometimes get a split scoop and share it with my husband or get a kids scoop. The unlimited samples to decide your flavor is simply awesome. The staff is friendly and the location is great.
Eyung G
Always impressed with the creative rotating menu. Staff is always friend, energetic, patient, and professional. Ice cream is delicious without comparison. Will always recommend as the best ice cream in Seattle.
Ivan Jonas
Terrific ice cream shop! The flavors are unique and delicious, the staff is super perky and friendly, and the prices are just right. My recommendation: definitely get a waffle cone! It's really good for my health that I don't live nearby, or else I'd be there a few times a week.
Megan Rucker
Birthday cakes and blackberries was so freaking good! I had a scoop of that and a scoop of the salted molted ... cookie dough. 3000% would pick the Birthday cake over the cookie dough. My husband had the sea salt and caramel. He enjoyed it and the freshly made waffle cone.
Samuel Singer
Rating is well deserved! Peak hours expect a line out the door wrapping around the building. Time seems to pass quickly. Probably has to do with their efficient friendly staff. Love how they experiment and showcase their creativity with new monthly seasonally inspired flavors.
Caroline kaiser
Excellent ice creams and fun flavors! You can try a sample before ordering. Scoops are pretty big (split scoop is huge). Highly recommend the strawberry/balsamic flavor, thought the olive oil was a bit underwhelming. Their more classical flavors (cold brew, cookies) are also delicious.
Ryan Nahe
I’m from Florida and when people asked what did I enjoy most about my Seattle visit? Salt & Straw is on my list of mentions! Not only is the ice cream amazing, the service is great too! Keep up the great work. This location is awesome.
Citlali Andrade
The Lavender Honey is SO good, I also love seeing what crazy new flavors they’ll have haha.
Sophia F
This outpost of Salt & Straw does not disappoint. The line moved faster than we expected due to the number of staff ready to help you try flavors. About half of the classic flavors are the same as what I’ve seen in SF, but half are local to Seattle! The beecher’s cheese with peppercorn was particularly flavorful and fun :)
We liked the month’s carrot cake batter with hazelnut, and those who like traditional flavors enjoyed the double fold vanilla.
Mae Faye
My only regret is I wish I got double scoops instead of one scoop!
This place is an ice cream lover fantasy! The honey lavender ice cream with sprinkles had me wishing it would never end!
Jon Dyer
Outstanding ice cream with well-conceived flavors. Nothing overly sweet, everything of the highest quality. Generous with samples. Will absolutely come again!
Tiffany Lindholm
Very friendly staff! We are visiting and we brought a punt back to the hotel. The wrapped it all up with a cone and it was so tasty! We got cold brew coffee cashew praline! Highly recommend.
Rus Mo
Salt & Straw is not your average ice cream joint. There are long lines, but justifiably so. The ice cream is excellent! There are limited edition flavors on rotation, Seattle's Chocolatier Series, including Fran's Almond gold bar ice cream. Unfortunately, the Chocolatier series ended last night, but good news they'll a new series starting today (4/6/18).
I was contemplating an ice cream flight of 4. Yea they have ice cream flights here. Although it was extremely intriguing idea I ended up deciding to get a split scoop of ice cream of velvety Salted Caramel & Beechers cheese and toffee peppercorn.
What's a split scoop you say? Basically 2 smaller scoops of different ice cream flavors for $.50 more than a single scoop. Because there are so many flavors here I would recommend that. You will be satisfied.
Prices here are a little more the your regular ice cream joint, but then again this isn't your regular ice cream.
The salt & Straw. Come here and get your ice cream!
Sarah M
Staff are amazing, so sweet and friendly and this ice cream is completely worth the wait!
Zung Do
We had the mint and the seasonal flavor peach cobbler. Both were amazing! Both were Vegan! (The waffle cone was not vegan but heard they working on it) It was the right sweetness and smoothness. There is a wait that goes out the door but it's well worth it! I'll definitely come back again.
Sam Andrus
We first thought about going to Salt & Straw in Portland but couldn’t stomach the long lines at the location we visited there. But Seattle came through for us, especially since we got there about 5:30 while most people were still working or thinking about dinner not dessert.
We had several of their seasonal flavors and one of their regulars. All good. The cup is holding a scoop of the caramel corn and the carrot cake batter. The cone is the Rachel’s Raspberry Ginger Beer and Cloudforest chocolate hazelnut cookies & cream.
Annika Harding
Fr the best ice cream. Amazing staff. Great efficient store. Loveeeeee
Atiqa Bhatti
O.M.G. The best salted caramel ice cream I’ve had in a long time, super rich and creamy with luscious salted caramel swirls 😋 and the waffle cone was crunchy, buttery, freshly made, and incredible 🤤 …
Anna Baatz
Salt & Straw changed my opinion about ice cream. Never was a huge ice cream fan- never something I crave but I would have it in moderation if it was around- but this place really takes a cherry with Innovative flavors, really good Classics, and plenty of monthly and seasonal flavors! All of the ice cream is often cloyingly sweet for my personal palette, but the flavors are absolutely incredible and all worth exploring, especially the Halloween flavors like Dracula's Pig blood! This month's seasonal flavors included zucchini bread and carrot cake, both which were highly recommended to me by my friend who loves Salt & Straw and goes frequently, and her recommendation was as usual spot on! I love Rachel's ginger beer and so of course their raspberry sorbet is so Tangy and delicious and refreshing. Also great to swing by and get a pint for get-togethers or visiting friends!
Morgan Ulrich
Great place with delicious vegan ice cream! I wish they had more than 1 vegan flavor on the menu, but I was satisfied with the mint chip - so good.
Viv L
Fantastic ice cream place. Its got fun flavors which are around all the time and a selection of seasonal flavors. Good if you are adventurous in your ice cream.
Vicki Flynn
Unique icecream flavors. They let you sample which is nice. Lavender Honey is good constant flavor.
Vivien Zoller
Tried the Starwberry Honey Balsamic Vinegar w/ Black Pepper... was insanely delicious 😋
Also had the Beechers Cheese Apple Pie & Cinnamon Roll even better 😍
Cannot wait to see what the next two seasons of flavors are bringing to the cone ♡ …
Tim O'Halpin
Delicious ice cream. I had one scoop each chocolate and vanilla. Perhaps the best vanilla I've ever had. Very interesting seating. They have salt flavored ice cream here. Not another flavor with sea salt, but actual sea salt ice cream.
Amol Dasani
Welcoming staff... Amazing Flavors... Honey Lavender in a Waffle Cone is highly recommended... Give it a try for sure...
Kim H
What a treat! 🍦I had the Sea Salt with Carmel Ribbons. Yummmy!! …
Sharwari Phadnis
They serve amazing ice-cream flavours. I have tried cold brew cashew chocolate praline and strawberry coconut water flavours. A must-visit if you're in downtown Seattle.
Hannah Nelmark
You get a lot of ice cream for your money and it’s got some pretty unique flavors. I also appreciated that they had some vegan flavors for us lactose intolerance folks. Highly recommend!
Victor Wang
Absolutely amazing ice cream shop with lines out the door during peak hours. However the line moves extremely quickly and to accomodate more customers, the staff come to the line to start flavor tastings and they are super friendly and allow you to taste as many flavors as you want. Eventually ended up getting the tasting flight which was fantastic and a great value for money.
Rachel Dawson
Wish I took pictures! Amazing flavors you wouldn't think will pair nicely like blue cheese with strawberries and the chocolate ice cream with massive chunks of brownies. One scoop is plenty for me since it's large. Highly recommend and definitely will be back when I'm in the area.
Michael Natkin
Well it is very good, of course. Crowded at peak ice cream times. But the employees are very patient and kind with samples even when busy. Part of the menu changes every couple of months and part is permanent. I love that there are some Seattle-only flavors. Personally I do wish they offered a few great standards, like an amazing plain chocolate. Because sometimes you want that more than honey-goat cheese-tarragon ice cream. But it is all quite tasty.
dharma teja pamulapati
Good ice creams, but beware you would have to wait around 10-15 minutes to place an order. Apart from their normal menu, they always have some interesting seasonal options.
Elbert Perez
Eating ice cream here is a journey as the ice cream attendants will literally make you taste the whole menu. It's an amazing experience to eat all that yummy ice cream (all the tasting is free) then you just need today ecide what ice cream you want to commit to and buy. Lines even on a cold say here are long and move slow due to the way everyone tastes the ice cream
Jackie Wu
Worth the long wait re: customer service & flavors. Our scooper gladly let us try five flavors and was even willing to let us try more if we wanted. We decided on an ice cream flight of four flavors. Our favorites were the Rachel’s raspberry ginger beer sorbet and the strawberry honey balsamic with black pepper.
We didn’t try any of their chocolateer series but really like the idea of partnering with local businesses. A+!
Daniel Krause
Quite possibly the best ice cream flavour I’ve ever tried - Honey Lavender. While there may be creamier ice creams out there, this one tasted amazing. Others in my entourage said theirs were also good - Nutella particularly

Portland's own is now in Seattle for everyone to enjoy. They have lots of fresh daily flavors, as well as, limited edition batches. Keep an eye on the website for those special flavors. When we went, it was Thanksgiving theme flavors.
Elisa Campos
So good!! Will definitely visit again. I ordered pot of gold and rainbows which combines cereal milk with lucky charms marshmallows. There are so many great flavors and they let you taste all of them before you buy. If you love decadent rich ice cream you'll love this place!
Rea R
Amazing ice cream! I got the charred corn, Cotija, and Tajin and it was great. Tried the olive oil and almost got that too!
Derek Miller
Not a huge ice cream eater but it was so good. Fun funky flavors that they let you sample
Steven Todd
Seriously the best ice cream ever. I had two different thanksgiving specials.. the Sweet Potato Casserole with maple pecans & the Roasted Peach and Sage Cornbread Stuffing ice cream! Those may sound weird for ice cream..but trust! It’s AMAZING!!!!!!!
Vanessa Chang
Best honey lavender I have ever had!!!
Masoud Alfi
They have a very nice crew and i liked their ice cream. I was looking for a walnut flavor but they didn’t have it. Good place tho. They are usually busy so expect a 20ish minutes wait times.
Jacob Scida
Absolutely fantastic ice cream. Went here not knowing what this place was when visiting back in March and was blown away, made it a must see when I returned recently.
Ryan Namba
High-quality, high-creativity, handmade ice cream. The regular menu is great, but check out the seasonal offerings for a chance to grab some limited-time gems.
Isaac Haseley
Where top-notch service and constant variety draw even Monday night crowds.
But don’t be afraid of the lines! Salt & Straw hires more scoopers, often four at once, to wade into the line and serve customers before you’ve even reached the counter. Tasting is the rule rather than the exception here: I’ve received an array of ten spoons with enthusiasm, which pretty much puts me on top of the world.
And with all their flavors, you’ll be eager for the help deciding. Salt & Straw features about a dozen standards, but you’ll never acclimate because five new “seasonal” flavors appear each month. There’s always a new adventure available, from Sweet Potato to Caramelized Corn to Candied Duck Skin with Cherry Preserves.
As for the standards, favorite flavors include Almond Brittle with Salted Ganache and bestseller Sea Salt with Caramel Ribbons. Once you’ve tasted and narrowed the field, split your scoop for an extra .50 and get two flavors. Skip the topping-heavy sundaes and bring a friend, because a split scoop alone can be enough to warrant help. Don’t even think about a whole-pint milkshake without backup.
All said, this is one of Seattle’s best in a crowded field of boutique dessert shops in Cap Hill alone.
Chris Walker
Wow I can see why this place is so popular. I was in town from Canada with some co-workers and I had heard such good things about Salt & Straw (no Canadian locations yet) so we stopped in. We were able to taste any flavour we wanted before purchasing. They're serving size is large I got single scoop and it was the perfect amount . Absolutely worth the trip to anybody in town who loves gourmet ice cream.
Meredith Rock
The cinnamon snickerdoodle was good but nothing to write home about, especially for the price. My husband got the chocolate with cupcake, caramel and potato chips, which I thought was much better even though I don't usually like chocolate ice cream. If I go again I'll try a more adventurous flavor, but I also think they could use more concoctions using a vanilla base. The girl serving was super nice though!
Andrew Tompsett
Amazing ice cream. Three or four vegan options. Definitely a treat.
Joel
Incredible flavours that seem bizarre but are often amazing! My favourite was a candied duck skin that was so rich with a great mix of sweet and savoury. This is about the most expensive ice cream I've ever seen but it is a pretty good treat!
Tim Hung
After waiting in line for up to twenty minutes, you'll reach the counter. An employee will walk around the counter to greet you and ask about any dietary restrictions. This staff member will help your party down the row, helping you try any flavors while giving some background on each one. You will order through this same employee and they will fulfill your order through checkout. Fantastic service.
Flavors are local, inventive, and creative, with half the menu set in stone, and the other half changing to reflect the current season. The flagship salt and caramel flavor is a must try and the coffee flavor is deep and rich.
Step aside, Molly Moon's.
Samuel Tellier
Always a sweet treat :) the fall flavors were on point.
Alexandra Hollingsworth [Denton]
Fun, innovative flavors - sample to find the ones that fit your tastes. And for those of us who can't decide on just one, two or three flavors, get the Tasting Flight! Four scoops of delicious indeciveness. Great for sharing with a friend. Highly recommend Pots of Gold & Rainbows (Lucky Charms) and Sweet Corn & Waffle Cones. Both are reminiscent of milk and cereal, but are limited edition flavors. Hoping they become more permanent.
Maria Zayra Lim
Definitely a must-try icecream! You get a free taste of almost everything! Price is reasonable for the size of every scoop.
Tsedi
I love coming to this location and this ice cream place. Always with new and unique flavors. The place smells so good. Waffle cone is 15/10.
Justin Daigneault
Great new locally-sourced ice cream shop! Such delicious flavors and options for a great price!
Melissa Thiel
I'm a Portland girl so when I saw this I had to stop. Super yummy flavors! The staff was gracious and accommodating. Line was out the door but the staff was super efficient and for us out the door in less than 5-10 minutes.
Aleesa Parsons
Some of the best ice cream around! My two faves are the brownie and sea salt with caramel ribbons. Honey lavender is delicious too. Honestly you can’t go wrong with any flavor. They make fresh waffle cones and have seasonal flavors.
natasha dawson
The best ice cream in Seattle. I got a vegan and non vegan flavor and both were amazing
kashya boretsky
Incredible ice cream with unique flavors and allergy friendly options. The flights are a great option to try several flavors in one sitting!
Kristen Wight
Delicious! Creative! Tempting! Finding a parking place took patience but it was worth the wait! We tried to go just before the dinner to avoid crowds. We were in line for just a few minutes before being served. Our server gave us tastings of the different flavors.
Luis Medrano
Memorable ice cream! They make their own waffle cones and they are simply delicious. The flavours are a bit different than the usual options, but they simply blow your mind. My favorite is the Honey and lavander. However, if you are hesitant, the staff will give you small samples to get the right flavor for you.
kushal bhatt
Yummyyyyyyyy!
Friendly helpful staff and delicious ice cream.
Vegan options also available.
William Brewer
Great ice cream. Be prepared to wait in line if going after dinner. Worth that wait.
Josh Arcaro
Man oh man!!!! What an awesome find, if you like ice cream and love trying new well developed flavors this is your place!!! Zucchini bread and honey lavender are my new favorite picks!! Going to be hard to beat the west coast when I got back home to NY
Cameron Luo
The mint ice cream is delicious 🤤 …
Kalee Quiñones
The Halloween specials are sooo delicious! The pints are awesome to stock up too.
Duke
Coming from socal salt and straw have already made their pilgrimage down south from the north west states.
The quirky and unique flavors were a hit or miss but settled on the lavender almond classic favorite.
Ice cream is heavy and creamy, delicious on a hot day
Elisa D.S.
Liked the salty taste. And there are many unusual flavors and they’re always good.
Depending on the time there’s a reasonable queue.
shikhar agarwal
We tried their vanilla and cookie dough ice cream. We preferred vanilla over cookie dough. We also bought a pint of their coffee flavor. That’s also really good.
Madeleine Yee
Holy cow! Delicious! Ordering online was soooooo much faster and the ice cream was very tasty
Peter Benedetti
Friendly service, but didn’t care for the flavor options and wasn’t happy with my choice. The salted caramel was too salty and burnt tasting.
Laurene Liu
Flavors are way too sweet for me. And some taste very artificial
Kaylee Sligar
The Great Candycopia was the best first ice cream I could have tried from here!
Artem Bidnichenko
You will most likely find a flavor you utterly enjoy here. They are updating their season flavors quite often and I keep getting surprised with their creativity. Honey lavender is my favorite and I indulge myself with it once a month.
But it's not $20/pint good. Hence 4 stars.
Nicole Solano
Really friendly staff and the ice cream is tasty. Wish there was a bit more seating inside.
Tenissia Evans
Awesome ice cream, Salt & Straw you made it on our Top 5 Ice Cream list! The ice cream is creamy; the perfect balance of flavor and cream. They also have vegan options. The flavors are not the same year around, so you have to check it out for yourself and tell me what you think!
If you don't live in the Seattle area and you want to bring ice cream home. You should bring an ice chest. I'm not really sure how to travel with ice cream, it never makes it out of the parking lot!
Until the next Ice Cream adventure!
*Note you can eat inside you must show your covid vaccine card or picture copy, and photo ID.
Oleksiy Lysenko
Great flavors. Matcha with greek yogurt, and local cheese with peppercorn toffee
Aaron Miller
Creative names equals great ice cream. This shop had some interesting names for there flavors. I had a scoop of chocolate gooey brownie in a cup. Not sure what to order? Samples are available. What a delight. Kudos to the friendly staff.
Pacifica Kecholli
Shoutout to June! Made our experience here feel one-of-a-kind. It was a memorable and amazing visit for birthday ice cream. All the staff was friendly of course, and the flavours did not disappoint.
Alan Koslowski
They have a great, expansive menu of eclectic options for adventurous palettes. A few conventional options too, so there's something for everyone. I especially liked the olive oil flavor.
Jessica
Their online order system is convenient and they had my order ready on time. Employee was polite during pickup. Ice cream is good.
Very disappointed because I ordered many different flavors for pickup and they weren't labeled at all. Lots of the flavors look similar so I had to play a guessing game to figure out what was what. I ordered individual scoops with cups and lids so that it would be safe for our work party but I had to open the lids to figure out the flavor defeating the purpose of my trying to not expose everyone's food. Labelling should be a requirement anyway, pandemic or not, because it is inconvenient for the customer. They did apologize after I called, though.
Alice Shen
Lovely ice cream,
Definitely gonna revisit and try more flavors.
Naté Elias
You cannot go wrong with this place. Fresh made waffle cones smacking you in the face when you walk in. Delicious I’ve cream. COVID-19 guidelines followed to the T! I would of never thought about any of these out of the box of flavors but they are really good together and very well executed. The wife & kids enjoyed their ice cream and my kids are picky. I definitely enjoyed my Ice cream. Will definitely be back for more goodness. Don’t let other people’s reviews stray you away from this place. If you want mediocre go elsewhere. You will NOT get mediocre here. And for the rest complaining about prices have you ever heard the saying you get what you pay for. Here the price matched the creativity & quality. It’s well deserved!
Richard Beal
High quality ice cream with interesting flavors and always something new to try.
Fantasy MMORPG Roleplayer
If you want vegan ice cream, this is the place to go. Their mint chocolate chip is creamy perfection.
I used to be able to have dairy ice cream. Salt and Straw is the only place where I can have vegan ice cream that tastes BETTER than dairy ice cream. Multiple times I kept checking the label because I couldn't believe it didn't have milk.
John Carrico
Yum! Creative delicious flavors. An awesome treat for ice cream lovers. I wish they had more vegan options. Trust me... YOU ONLY NEED ONE SCOOP! don't let your eyes out order your gut.
Kelton
I'm not a big ice cream person, but my girlfriend loves their ice cream and we rarely visit Seattle or Portland without visiting. Highly recommend trying the holiday flavors even though they might sound weird sometimes.
Summer Sanders
Incredible service and delicious ice cream. 10/10 am definitely going to come back.
Melissa Galbraith (MCreativeJ)
Delicious! Staff is extremely personable and will let you try as many flavors as you want. Line gets a little long because they’re so new, but it moves pretty quickly and is worth the wait.
Marcia LaSalle
Always a fan! Great ice cream and an amazing atmosphere. Regardless of the the long lines the employees are always friendly and fast! I’ve never had a bad experience at salt and straw!
Maria Hanif
Dang, this place is amazing. Ice cream is great but customer service is even better. Annalise helped us choose out our ice cream today and we were blown away by how kind and genuine she is. She described each flavor with so much detail, you could tell she really wants each customer to be happy and satisfied! We will def be back.
anis basak
The seasonal flavors are always great. I have visited one of their branches in Portland before and got the Monkey Brain flavor. Its was awesome. Great summer collection. This time I went to the store in Pike Place, Seattle. Took a mixed double scoop of Pear and blue cheese with berries and cake. The berries and cake was really something new and out of the box. Everyone should definitely try out Salt and Straw.
M VDW
Unique ice cream, not worth a long wait though or all the hype- best ice cream/ gelato is in Ballard
Sumit Chopra
Undoubtedly the best ice-cream place in Seattle. I mostly go for their rotating ice cream menu as it is limited and it is also quite creative in flavours and absolutely delicious. But from their regular menu I would recommend Almond Brittle with Salted Ganache, and Chocolate Gooey Brownie.
Jennifer Chou
Can't wait to go back here and have their delicious vegan ice cream again
Update: sadly not as good as I remembered

Had to do a job here upgrading their security system, and when I walked in, I was overwhelmed with the incredible smell.
The Pike Motorworks building location is very upscale, and their craft ice cream flavors are unique and creative. The staff, Ethan & Noah, were just opening up when I arrived, and introduced themselves right away.
As I was leaving, they offered me some complimentary ice cream. They thoughtfully inquired as to whether I had any food allergies, and their menu selection includes vegan options as well. The Cornflake Crunch & Marionberry Jam ice cream I selected was delicious, with cookie-like cornflake bits and marionberries in creamy vanilla ice cream, and the waffle cone (also made in-house) was light and crunchy. Overall, my experience was excellent and I would be happy to return as a paying customer.
Barb R.D.
This place is so good. The people are super nice and the ice cream is some of the best I have ever had.
Joseph Peters-Mathews
Salt and Straw is one of two great options right on Capitol Hill. Their creative flavors, as suggested by the name, tend to be on the more savory side of ice cream...but always good. Favorite of the always available is the Chocolate Gooey Brownie. The Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough was underwhelming, and the sea salt needs some more caramel ribbons.
They will always get my business, though, because as my toddler approached meltdown in lieu of nap time, someone brought him his own scoop while we were in line ourselves. It changed the dynamic and atmosphere, and we all got to enjoy our trip!
Mouni Reddy
Ice cream making is an art and Salt&Straw is one of the best at it, in the world. There is said it. They are some of the best ice cream makers on the planet.
The seasonal flavors keep you coming back and even the regular flavors are a surprise if you haven't had them before. I ate the entire menu and it's hard to pick favorites. Sea Salt Caramel, the chocolate goey brownie, honey Landsberg, Cold Brew Coffee, Pear Blue Cheese... All of them are amazing.
Justin Nguyen
Favorite ice cream spot in Seattle! My favorite flavor of all time would be the Strawberry Honey Balsamic with Black Pepper. The store itself is clean and service as always been quick and friendly.
Kourtney Rykowski
So good! Imo better than Molly Moon’s. The texture is like soft serve and the vegan option (mint) was really good. Also soy-free!
Lambert Wang
They've got a great selection of novel ice cream flavors! All of the them are unique. Though some of the flavors sound a little strange, you should definitely give them a taste. You may find that you'll like it! If you're in the area, be sure to check them out every month, they've got a cute menu of rotating flavors.
Alyssa Sismaet
Great ice cream. I love trying the seasonal flavors, the names make me hesitant but typically they’re really good! They have solid regular flavors too. The staff let you try as much as you want, and you don’t feel rushed to pick.
Josh Smith
Pretty good ice cream--albeit definitely overpriced. Love the "tried and true" flavors. Some of the seasonal ones are great, others are really....surprising (scrambled eggs in ice cream? Really?) But I guess that's part of the appeal. For the price of one scoop of this stuff you could buy an entire tub of Tillamook, but I won't deny that you will enjoy your scoop.
John Madonna
Yes, Salt & Straw is legitimately the best ice cream in the city. The texture and attention to flavor can't be beat. The flavors tend to be a little limited and the prices high (which is fine by me... Helps keep me from going here every day), the menu rotates every month with seasonal flavors (a core group of flavors is remains year round, though). The options can sometimes seem a little out there and will often incorporate flavors not typically found in sweet foods, everything is top quality. A few logistics... There are always quality vegan options, they're pretty transparent about allergens on the menu or is you ask, and they're very pro free samples, which is great.
Amanda Lybeer
Love Salt & Straw. I wish they would move to the east side of the state, or north Idaho.
Nathan Farrer
Went here for the first time and was blown away by the flavors, and the service from Lydia. They were very busy, but she was SO helpful, patient and so nice! I’ve previously worked in retail management for many years, and she is definitely an asset to that team. THANKS LYDIA!!!
Zander Sawyer
As you walk in the warm smell of waffles greets you with a warm hug. The ice cream is handmade and delectably delicious.
Yvette Tang
I love their chocolate ice-cream. we also ordered the seasonal stuff, rose ice-cream (forgot the full name).
usually i dislike rose/cherry favours’ dessert but their rose ice-cream was quite good (fresh, only light rose favour, a little bit like strawberry).
of course their waffle cone was so fresh. love it!
it was worthy to wait for a while (line was long during Sunday night but the staffs did a great job to kill the line quick).
Alex Wolf
Great ice cream, wonderful texture. I get vegan ice cream because of my lactose intolerance, and this place has great vegan ice cream with a good variety of well-thought-out flavors.
Victor Gonzalez
Salt and straw always delivers! The seasonal ice creams are very fun this summer. I particularly liked the berry / pie one. It gets pretty crowded on weekends, but the line goes pretty fast
Januar Ma
Omg the June limited edition s'mores was amazing. It had pop rocks, or something similar, popping in my mouth. Taking s'mores near a crackling camp fire in your mouth to a whole different level!!!
Chris W
Really good ice cream! Crazy flavors! I had one called creepy crawlers or something that literally had mealworm toffee and chocolate covered crickets. The other one was candy something, it was excellent if you like a lot of things in your ice cream like Ben & Jerry's. It's very creamy and you can tell it's excellent quality. I've never seen flavors like these, they have a olive oil ice cream and one that had blue cheese in it. I'd like to go back and try that.
Tim Y
Great tasting ice cream. We had a sampler which seemed like a better deal considering cost of individual ice cream scoop.
Achyuthanand Kandimalla
I didn’t know that Salt & Straw was so popular until I saw long lines at 10 PM. This is definitely worth a visit. We tried the vanilla, dulce deluche and sea salt caramel. The taste is different and unique. I felt sea salt caramel was a little too salty for me but overall the flavor and experience has been good.
Alex Irish
Best Salt and Straw I've ever been to! The service is the most friendly I've ever encountered. Highly recommend
Alyssa Poletti
I love Salt & Straw! The flavors are all incredible, and certainly worth the wait. The servers are so sweet, patient, and seem to enjoy working there. I wish they had some more vegan options, thought.
Cathy Li
It was a very warm afternoon when I went. The line was out the door. However the staff came to my party personally to bring us samples and take our orders, making the service go much faster. The ice cream flavors are also very interesting in a good way. I didn't know mushroom could be a legitimate flavor for ice cream!
Rishi Sachdeo
Tried vegan ice cream since their mint chocolate chip flavor is vegan. It was nice, it had a hint of coconut flavor so it was like minty almond joy? Also the staff here is awesome and super friendly!
Anubhav Tandon
Some people may enjoy their unique seasonals for sure but we are just in love with their sea salt caramel flavor. Definitely the best caramel flavor we have had.
James Moneyhun
Fast friendly service and delicious unique flavors. I had a milkshake and my son had a cone.
Rita-Louise Montour
The best and absolute most inventive ice cream flavors you can find! I haven't had one I didn't like. Amazing amazing amazing staff, they let you try basically all the flavors you want and are very friendly. If you can't decide they even have a tasting flight! You can pick 4 flavors. Great for indecisive humans like me.
Tisha Shrestha
Great selection of ice cream flavors. The line can be pretty long but it moves fast. Flavors are worth the waiting in a long line. My favorites are Honey Lavender and Epm Coffee. Staffs are very friendly and patient to give you sample tastings so don't rush till you find your favorite.
Mikos D
I don't want to be too harsh, because I've had some genuinely good ice cream from this location. The problem is they try so hard to be creative that half of their wild seasonal flavors don't even taste very good. To be fair, some people probably enjoy these really nice flavors like cheese and pepper or bone marrow and raspberry. So if you're in the mood to impress your date with how adventurous you can be, this is the place to go. However, expect it to be your entire date. The lines are incredibly long, which on the one hand attests to the popularity and quality of the ice cream. On the other hand, they are extraordinarily slow about checking people out.
TL;DR 3 stars for decent quality and great variety. -2 stars for inefficient line management, and overly creative flavors that often miss their mark.
Megan Nelson
Unique ice cream place. Flavors are not typical and every month they come out with special flavors with a theme. They can be hit or miss, but when they are a hit, its completely worth it. Some of the best ice cream I've ever had! On a hot day the lines can be long but it moves pretty quickly.
Scott Wilezol
I tried two flavors of ice cream, one classic and one of the revolving ones. Both were tasty, good flavor of caramel.... the raspberry almond one was tasty.... tasted like real raspberries and ground almonds gave it an interesting texture. My only complaint was that i felt the ice creams i tried were way too sweet.... sugar overload for me. It’s worth trying for yourself, however.
Vern
Really good ice cream with a crazy variety of flavours. My favorites are the cereal based ones! So creative and a good bang for your buck
KAIRY
The prices are affordable and the selection is very vast and from what I've heard there are monthly flavors that come and go so there's always something new to try. I got a double scoop in a waffle cone and the scoops are humongous compared to other ice cream shops. My helper was an asian girl with long black hair in a ponytail. She was very helpful and gave her opinion on what was good. I ultimately got the vanilla and vegan chocolate one. Very satisfied.
Sirisha M
Loveeee the Gooey brownie ice cream and also sea salt caramel one
J. Trent
I love everything about Salt & Straw! Their ice cream is delicious and unique, they have a large variety of vegan options, their staff seem to enjoy their jobs and are always helpful when trying to pick the perfect ice cream. I get so excited to go everytime! My favorites are the lavender vanilla and almond brittle ice creams.
PzzaLegend
Bro, it’s Salt & Straw. It’s amazing. The Vegan offers are so so good. Go there now.
Herakles Li
This place always has a line, including in the middle of winter! It moves at a fairly brisk pace though and they often will have someone grabbing you samples before you have even moved up to the front. Help the line out by knowing you want by then and no one will judge you if you get like 5+ samples. I love their ice cream but I do think it is a tad expensive. Still their flavors are delicious and always be sure to try their monthly seasonals!
Aastha Dora
If there is one thing I could eat for the rest of my life, it would be ice-cream. This place is the heart of innovation when it comes to ice-cream. Each month they come out with limited edition flavors only for that month which are super unique. For August, they did a collaboration with Seattle farmer's market and came out with such creative flavors! Another thing I like about this place is that you can try as many flavors as you would like and they in fact promote that. Overall, one of the best ice-cream stores I have been to.
Mathew Ingersoll
Olive oil ice cream serious
Amy Deng
Wasn't on our list to visit but sure glad I stopped by! Love the unique flavours offered here and super friendly staff. They let you sample all the flavours, which is a huge plus. One of the most delicious ice cream I've ever had! Prices are pretty good too!
Liu Coco
My favorite ice cream shop in Capitol Hill so far! They have very different flavors if you are adventurous about your ice cream ;) I got the chocolate caramel potato chips flavor.. it was to die for! Another flavor I tried that was really good was Beecher’s Cheese with Peppercorn Toffee. The staffs were very patient and they would let you try all the flavors you want!
Libby Webster
Such fun and unique flavors that are all quality made! With that and good size scoops, its definitely worth the price. They also have fun merchandise.
Emi Schutz
Ice cream was very good and waffle cone was nice. Service was quick and I liked getting the chance to try new flavours. But very expensive. IMO you can get ice cream that's just as good but a lot cheaper in this city. I'm glad I went but probably wouldn't go back because of the price.
Pooja Bear
Kaleb was awesome! He offered to let us try all of the flavors and was very upbeat and excited to explain each flavor. He also took great care to place the scoops in our cones in the order if how quickly the flavors melt. Awesome ice cream as well and definitely the best service I've ever had at an ice cream shop.
Marcus Moreno
Great quality ice cream, however the flavors get really frivolous and unnecessarily outlandish. They change their menu pretty frequently so there's usually something new, however every time I go I'm disappointed with the silly menu options.
Furthermore, all of the flavors are slightly misleading. You'll read the name of an item that headlines it's main flavors, until reading it's description and you'll find that there's like 2-3 other flavors on top of the ones in the title.
For example, this time I had Oatmeal cookie and marshmallow. Sounded good, until I read that it's made with coconut and chocolate ice cream...so it's not really oatmeal cookie and marshmallow. Sure enough when i got it, it tasted entirely like chocolate and coconut, which isn't really what I wanted nor should it be called oatmeal cookie and marshmallow.
Like I said, the quality is good but you might not like the menu items with their outlandish flavors which is fun to try but not to spend $6+ on personally. I understand that as a local ice cream parlor you want to stand out, but at least have some more down to earth or traditional flavors you can put a twist on.
I recommend Molly Moons instead.
DAMINI GUPTA
One of my favourite and go to ice cream place over the last 3years. I absolutely love their seasonal flavours, every time you go and there is a new flavour. What else does an Ice Cream lover needs!!
Courtney N
Unique flavors. Super rich creamy smooth ice cream and sorbet yumminess. Beautiful, funny, generous people!
Fronty Parker
I sampled the coffee ice cream with waffle cone, very good.
Jeffrey Sherrill
Some dynamite ice cream and super fun and interesting flavors!
Aishanee Wijeratna
I stopped by around 3pm and thankfully avoided the long lines everyone has been talking about. After sampling a few flavors I decided to go with the chocolate brownie and the honey lavender, which were both delicious. My friend ordered the vanilla and the whiskey coffee and both of those were really good as well. I appreciated the unique flavors - you really can't find these flavor combinations anywhere else! The only downside was that a single scoop is $6 and not a lot of ice cream, so I definitely won't be going here every day. But it was a cool experience and I would say it's well worth the splurge once in a while!
Tim Cavanagh
You'll know you're near salt and straw as you cannot miss the aroma of waffle cones. One of the better ice cream offerings in Captiol Hill they have standard flavor menu and seasonal flavors (they also have flavors just for Seattle vs. their stores in Portland). The seasonal flavors we're amazing, the carrot cake was absolutely delicious. There can be a line at times, but salt & straw has found a great way to get customers through fast in a fun manner. I'd definitely recommend stopping by!
Calvin Neill
So even as my wife and brother and I were walking in a brisk afternoon the ice cream was worth it. I had the blood pudding it didnt really match up to my flavor palette but was still good... This is what changed my mind the Float that the gentleman made me was outstanding I've had them many times before but not like this.
The amount of flavors and mixtures they had was surprising as well and ended up tasting better than expected as the 3 of us all ordered something different, while not overloading the flavors with sweet sugary but more modest and mellow.
Kyle White
Their limited edition non-dairy options for the month of January were not only some of the best non-dairy ice cream I've ever had, but some of the best ice cream I've ever had, period!
The vegan lemon chevre cheesecake was absolutely insanely amazing, and the vegan chocolate oatmeal moon pie was the creamiest vegan ice cream I've ever eaten. I would be so happy if these two flavors became permanent!
Teresja Nelson
If you love gourmet ice cream, this place is a must. It's worth waiting in line, they also have a pretty good system to make the process faster: bringing samples to you, making your order before you get to the counter.
And their flavors are all so creative AND delicious. Which isn't always the case for such places. Make sure to try the monthly flavors, too.
Abi O
This is probably the best ice cream I have had in my entire life. If you’re a fan of chocolate brownie ice cream, this is the best you will ever encounter. They also have a fantastic and crunchy vegan chocolate ice cream as well as the magical seasonal selections. zucchini bread ice cream is just glory.
Patric Rogers
A super cute little shop. They don't believe in normal flavors, which is fine, since the custom flavors may sound truly bizarre (lavender flower petals? In ice cream? Srsly?), but taste great.
Only go here is you have a tolerance for new ideas and are willing to try something different.
If your family thinks choc/van/straw are the only "proper" ice creams (*cough*), shop elsewhere :)
Greg Poe
In my opinion, this is the best ice cream shop in Seattle and perhaps the US. They use local ingredients and constantly add innovative flavors to their menu. We've had olive oil ice cream before, and last time we went I had Beecher's cheese flavor. So good! Try something experimental if you go.
Thomas Boswell
Great ice cream, lots of great flavors, but the customer service really blew me away. The employees take the time to give you samples and fill you in on flavors you might like, supplying individual metal spoons. That sold me on this place. Fantastic, the line is worth it.
Kenley Unruh
Always an amazing selection of delectable frozen treats. They always have a great core selection of twists on classic flavors, along with an assortment of experimental flavors that make it easy to go back time and time again.
Chris Joyce
Different is often, but not always, good. A few of their flavors are just not things ice cream should taste like. However, there are always many good options. Pushing the envelope results in some misses, but if you stay away from the truly wacky flavors you'll have a great experience.
Sarah Chadd
Delicious ice cream, offbeat flavors (but still the classic crowd-pleasers, lovely aesthetic, helpful staff. What's not to like?
Helen Paith
Wow. This ice cream was probably the best of my entire, ice cream laden life. I tried nearly every flavor and the staff were eager to encourage me to do so, a rare and endearingly friendly experience. Our final decisions were a double scoop waffle cone of Hazelnut Cookies & Cream and Sea Salt with Caramel ribbons, as well as a double scoop waffle cone of Double Fudge Brownie split with Sea Salt Caramel and Theo Mint Chocolate chip atop. I would go back a million times if only we lived closer.
Pat Larson
I have read the rave revues, I have listened to the hype. I now join in with all the cheering fans. I have strawberry sheep milk cheese ice cream. It was sweet and tangy and so creamy. My daughter had a pint sized vanilla malted milkshake. We were botj so happy with our choices. Minimal seating is available, but service is fast and pleasant. If you crave an exciting ice cream adventure, make a point of visiting this shop.
Katie Martin
Truely creative ice cream flavors crafted from high quality ingredients. All the heart eyes.
Mohit Jain
Great choice of “unique flavors” and the veggies limited edition choice ice-creams are a quite a novelty!
Annette Nelson
Friendly staff and great ice cream! They have special flavors right now for the holiday season. They offer flights of ice cream so you can have multiple flavors. That's what we did. We got the seasonal Egg Nog, seasonal Apple & Pecan Pie, seasonal Gingerbread Cookie Dough, and their standard Balsamic Strawberry. They were all good. We brought home a pint of the Egg Nog to enjoy later.
Seating is a little sparse, so I imagine it being standing room only in the summer time. On a Thursday afternoon in November, it was plenty of seating. We will be back either way.
Bia Amorim
Amazing ice cream OMG! The smell is so great.
giovanni cebreros
My happy place😍 You should try their seasonal flavors, it’s always interestingly tasty 🤤 …
Maya Y
This ice cream is a must. Super yummy, there are many interesting flavors and you also get to try first before picking. They make their own cones and I don't usually eat the cone but this one was so tasty. Great service too!
Adam Johnson
I got the Beechers and peppercorn toffee. It was like a spicy cheese cake. 11/10 heckin good ice cream
Z L
Great shop! Server is super cute 😝 Has some weird flavors like pear and blue cheese and somehow makes it work. …
Jacob Perman
Elenos Yogurt Matcha was mind, but rye whiskey and coffee was sweet as had more of coffee notes.
Very Oliver Raft
Loved the vegan options here! I have tried their vegan mint chocolate chip and the vegan marionberry ice creams, and both were delightful.
Maura Therese
The almond brittle with salted ganache ice cream was just the right balance of sweet and salty. My tastes of the honey lemon, and of the green fennel were good, too. The staff was friendly, and I like that they give you real metal spoons for samples. I would go again (although a bit pricey, about $5 for single scoop)!
Brittani Wilson
The smell of the waffle cones drew us in but the flavors of the ice cream, the metal spoons that they wash and reuse, the amazing staff kept us there. So so divine and very very efficient line! Which makes the experience that much better!
Max Pietsch (Max)
It helps to shorten the line that employees come to you before you get to the ice creams to get your order, which is nice. Mint and Rachel's Raspberry are good vegan options. The latter is better if you're looking for a sorbet, and the former if you want something more creamy. Important: you probably really want a scoop split in half, which yields two regular size scoops, since the scoops are pretty large otherwise.
G B.
Very good ice cream! Perhaps a little on the pricey side, but you cannot deny the incredible flavor!
Garrett N.
Super friendly and helpful staff and lots of local, creative, and tasty ice cream flavors to try. This place gets crazy busy in the afternoon and night with the line going out the door at times so try to go early. Pints in the freezer are a great value as well compared to getting a cup or cone.
Kayona
The ice cream was very good. Loved the unique flavors. Got one with balsamic and pepper and it was surprisingly yummy. Also the staff was pleasant even though it was weird COVID times. I'll definitely go again.
Devon Norton
Really great ice cream. Very fun and interesting flavors. The staff is super friendly despite the super long lines. You literally have to wait in line for at least 15 to 20 minutes every time. if you want a quick scoop this is not the place for you... other than the crazy ass lines this place is great.
Christopher Salley
It takes a lot to earn a 5 star review. To do so, it’s got to be perfect in every way. When My wife and I arrived there was a line around the corner, ugh. But the wait was only 15mins and we were rewarded with two of the creamiest, flavor popping and unforgettable ice cream cones. One caramel corn on the cob and one strawberry balsamic. A one scoop waffle cone is around $5 and the staff matches the flavor. Top level ice cream at it’s finest.
Aislyn
Smooth creamy icecream and fun seasonal flavors. The Meyer lemon with blueberries is a must-try. Wasn’t a huge fan of the huckleberry cornbread flavor, it was overly sweet. Pretty solid vegan options that don’t taste vegan ;). Taking a star off because they don’t have gluten free cones.
Caleb
I went here for the first time on National Ice Cream Day because I've never been able to justify waiting in line for 2 hours for a scoop of ice cream. The line was short and quick. Don't expect normal ice cream, you will be forced out of your comfort zone. Before you buy a whole scoop of habanero or strawberry and goat cheese ice cream, samples are given out so that you don't instantly regret your purchase. Even though I enjoy a classic vanilla cone most of the time I really did enjoy some more unique ice cream. You can definitely tell that this place is from Portland, OR 😂
Erik Griswold
Really, really, really good ice cream. And the staff are polite, offering everyone samples and taking orders as you wait in line. You'll know this place is good by seeing the line, which is almost always stretching outside of the building. The wait goes fast though, and like i said you get to enjoy some samples as you wait.
Weston Blankenship
Delicious and unique ice cream and all the free samples! This place knows what they’re doing.
Ben Gregory
Delicious ice cream. Creative and unique in every way. Stopped her with my wife on our honeymoon and we were very impressed with the customer service and the ice cream flight!
Margaret Jeanne
A wonderful, kind, and helpful staff! Everyone is always very friendly and I appreciate the precautions they’ve taken and dedication to keeping their customers safe during this pandemic! They minimize contact with every part of the ice cream including the cone and package it so I can feel secure 😊 Putting the ice cream on the cone myself helps me get a glimpse into what my life would be like as an ice cream man. Would give 6 stars if possible.
Kirk Salisbury
I've been to amazing ice cream places, and I am a regular at the frequently-voted best-in-state ice cream where I live. The ice cream I'm accustomed to is really good ice cream. But Salt and Straw beats my favorites by miles. It's not even close. When I die, if I make it to heaven this will be the ice cream served there.
By the way, the line was out the door and it was a20 minute wait, even on a Tuesday, but there was a plethora of workers who were patient while you sampled as much as you'd like.
In short, each time I am in Seattle this is a stop that I will be sure to make.
Raphael Puletz
I enjoy going to this spot for tasty treats in Capital Hill. They have so many unique flavors and fresh waffle cones daily!
The season flavors are my favorite!!!
Andrew Crowell
We came here because it was the only place open for dessert at 10:30 at night. I'm glad it was. The coconut chocolate chip mint was the best dairy free ice cream I've ever had. Will definitely make this a regular stop on my trips to Seattle from now on.
Catie Cowden
The staff is really efficient with keeping the lines moving and giving you a chance to sample whatever you'd like. It was crowded when we went, but the line moved quickly. The ice cream was good (and the flavors were fun!) but we all agreed it was a little over hyped. Definitely a fun experience if you're visiting town though!
K B
All I can say is this: it's good I don't live across the street from Salt & Straw or else I'd be here every day.
Every so often I'll cave and buy a couple pints instead of waiting in line -- the freshness isn't QUITE the same, but it's still exceptionally good (and can be enjoyed over a couple days/weeks then!).
Chris Williams
I love how they encourage you to try all of their flavors. Most ice cream shops try to guilt you out of trying multiple samples. The variety and originality of flavors is only bested by the amazing richness! What a great ice cream shop!
Caitlin Provencal
Delicious ice cream, incredible flavors, quality ingredients.
Justin Kay
Covid takes a bit away from the experience, and my order got messed up. But it still has my vote for best ice cream. July (berry season) is where it's at. Lots of local and unique flavors.
GI Schmo
High quality tasty ice cream and their vegan options are plentiful!
Helene Cameron-Heslop
Not as good as Portland or San Francisco Salt & Straws.
Having been blown away by visits to three other locations, I was thrilled to see S&S had opened in Capitol Hill, but alas, something about the way they are making the ice cream up here doesn't meet the same experiences elsewhere.
The staff were lackluster, and made even more disappointing given how positive they've been on visits in other cities.
I suspect they're not churning the ice cream as long / thoroughly as one of the party had 2 large ice crystals in the dairy ice creams, flavors were muted, and my two flavors had easily 3/4 vanilla ice cream, with a smidgen of the spiced flavored element and WAY too much salt and too little brittle in the salted almond brittle, which has been delightfully balanced elsewhere.
I hope the team get better training as the best ice creams I've ever had have been from Salt & Straw, but this location is dire.
Nifty Marketing
The line looked as if we were going to a rock concert. People were excited. Almost too excited but not enough to deter us.
The menu had the best write ups on each of the flavors. If you can work the “god of salt” into one of your descriptions you are definitely doing it right.
As far as the taste. It’s extremely creamy with and instant melt factor the second it hits your tongue. On my first bite, it took me back to childhood. On my second, my first kiss, on my third...
Well it’s really really good ice cream and worth the wait, just take in the clever content and happy people waiting for their chance at happiness.
Griffin Burrough
When it comes to food, hipsters usually are leading the charge in terms of inventiveness. Sometimes it doesn't work and sometimes it blows you away. This falls into the latter. Not only is everything beyond delicious with local collaborations and a rotating menu but the service is impeccable. There was a long line when I went but the moment I got inside I was handed a menu and offered to try flavors. I didn't even have to get to the front before someone handed me my order and I could immediately pay. Some of the best ice cream I've ever had and some of the best service I've ever had. Do yourself a favor and go here!
Tiffany Bottcher
Delicious ice cream. Kids and I were happy. Only thing is that they had no covid seating so we were immediately sent outside. I also find it odd that there was a tip question... I've never tipped for ice cream before and it was awkward but 🤷♀️ …
brian andersen
Easily the best ice cream I have ever had. Their best flavors, sadly, are their monthly flavors. Their gooey brownie is their best classic flavor. I would give anything to have their wild foraged berry pie slab become a classic flavor in Seattle, literally anything!
Anusha Ramakrishnan
Seattle Salt & Straw's best attraction: Beecher's Cheese and Peppercorn toffee. All ice creams are really amazing, with 5 new flavors of the month based on the season. Other classic favourites include Honey Lavender, Strawberry Balsamic Pepper and Elm Whiskey & Coffee.
Others are also worth trying and the place is definitely worth buying pints from!
Chad Hugie
Incredible flavors that didn't disappoint! There was a line down the street, but we decided to wait to try it out. I'm glad we did! The staff were extremely friendly and the ice cream was amazing! I will come get ice cream here each time I travel to Seattle.
Nisha Joglekar
Come here for the unique ice cream flavors and freshly made waffle cone. They have some staple flavors throughout the year and others that change every month according to the season or a theme. Be prepared for a line during weekends and spring through fall. They also have a sampler option where you can get 4 different scoops.
Lorraine
Amazing ice cream! I still think about it after coming home from my trip to the city. Expect to see a line out the door, but the wait is definitely worth it. I had the double fold vanilla and lavender ice cream on a waffle cone and it was to die for!
Shalini Kumari
Great ice cream place. Loved chocolate guey brownie I've cream. Single serve is enough for one person. Double serve in one waffle cone makes hand messy as it starts to drip down as it melts.
Ashley Ellerson
The order and pick up process during COVID-19 was very smooth for me- order at main entrance and pick up from window around the corner. They're super fast too, probably because folks don't spend as much time trying out samples. I wish they were making milkshakes, but I know it would take longer to get out orders with that added menu item. Still thoroughly enjoyed my scoop of vanilla fold!
Tiffany Chang
Every Salt & Straw I go into is always so great. I'm always greeted by a friendly face, offered as many samples as I could want, and they always ask me if I have dietary restrictions which is thoughtful. Carrot cake is awesome, so yummy. My favorite is their gingerbread holiday flavor that has an almond extract and rum base.
Aila Enos
Delicious and inventive flavors, though they do have some classic and more traditional flavors. I tried the Tokyo PB&J and Rachel’s Raspberry Ginger Beer. The line was a little out the door but moved quickly. There were employees coming by the line to give you samples and take your order, which meant you could get served before reaching the counter. I like it better than Molly Moon’s!
Philip Honsinger
Excellent ice cream with some wonderful flavors. I found the salted and malted was, well, a bit curious and not really my speed, but still quite good if salted sweets are your thing.
Claire Hughes
So many delicious flavors, love that they rotate new flavors in too
Amanda Collyer
It was okay. No actual brownies in the brownie ice cream, and we couldn't taste the blue cheese in the blue cheese and pear. The hibiscus was the best, but our overall experience was mid. Friendly staff, though!
Caitlin Dowhan
I feel like this is fitting of a Seattle ice-cream shop! Cool, trendy and original flavours, great staff and satisfied customers! I swear we tried half of the flavours they had available and the guy helping us was not impatient at all. He was super friendly and helped me decide on a scoop of "carrot cake batter & pralined hazelnuts" as well as "elm coffee & westland whiskey".. even mentioning that it'd taste like a spicy latte if it melted... I was sold!
Carol Windsor
Always love this ice cream spot. The lines speak for themselves, they have a very quality product. Please bring back the raspberry almond ice cream from over a year ago, that was my family's all time favorite!!
Marissa S
Salt n straw Is the best of the best when it comes to ice cream. Do yourself a favor and ask for several free samples. They will gladly let you try any flavor you desire. Also, get the split scoop. They give you very close to two full scoops of ice cream for only a few cents more than a single scoop. Waffle cones are never burnt. 10/10!
Keith Cote
Be prepared to wait in a line here, sometimes even out the door, oftentimes even during the winter. Ice-cream is always in season here with impressive rotating seasonal flavors to keep up with the times. If anything looks good (or even weird) be sure to ask the staff walking around and they will be glad to give you as many samples as you want.
William Shelor
Salt and straw has great variety, and all of their flavors really taste distinct from one another. I love getting the flights so I can try a variety of options, but my favorite is always whatever they have with cheese. Their cheese ice cream is the best.
Kate Lowe
BEST place for ice cream in Capitol Hill! SO many delicious & creative flavors to choose from but don’t worry you can literally try them ALL before deciding on one (or a few) THEN you can do 1/2 scoops and truly get everything you want... amazing! Staff is super friendly, patient & knowledgeable as well which makes for an all-around amazing experience!
Maria Martello
Best ice cream I have ever had in my life, hands down. The flavors are so creative (pictures are two of the July “berry” specials: Goat cheese marionberry habanero, and Sheep's cheese and strawberries)!!
In addition to incredible ice cream, the folks that work there are incredibly friendly and efficient. Don’t let the long line deter you! Once you get into the store, they usually have someone approach you and offer as many samples as you want(!!) and then take your order.
If you are in Seattle, LA, or Portland, Salt & Straw is 110% worth the detour and time. Enjoy!! 🍦
Veronica P
Interesting yet delicious ice cream flavors! Dont let the names fool you. I was hesitant to try the Strawberry Balsamic ice cream but it ended up tasting more of like a cheesecake ice cream. Wish I could go back and try every flavor but unfortunately I'm from out of town 😞 …
Josephina B
The ice cream flavors were very good. I had a bowl of the berry pie slap. They are very generous with the samples. Lines can be out the door, but well worth the wait.
davekate ward
Very popular joint. Line out the door. Smells like popcorn (good) when you walk in.
Todd Yamauchi
Ice cream is amazing and waffle comes tasted fresh. Flavors are unique and different bu delicious. Service was very fast even though there was a long line. No real seating except a few high tables. A definite must for ice cream in seattle.
Jessica Dryden-James
Delicious ice cream! Tasted super fresh and they have some great fun flavors. Staff was very warm and friendly. Definitely got to check them out!
Eric Nebel
Wonderful experience, flavors I never imagined. Will be back soon!!!
Andrew Lingbloom
Delicious, and popular! Great choices of ice cream, from standard [tasty] fare to experimental. Lots of tasting options, and some very local stuff too (e.g. Rachel's Ginger Beer or Beecher's Cheese).
It can be busy but it's not always: around 1pm I was in & out quickly. Staff were friendly and patient.
They serve cones and pints and flights!
The location is well-suited along Pike, close but not too close to other attractions.
Marla Manes
Not even an ice cream person and I find myself salivating every time I walk by. I save this spot for special occasions because it'd be sinful to indulge in ice cream that is this good too often. You won't be disappointed!
Alysia Kang
Personal opinion, S&S is my preferred ice cream location. I prefer consistency and standard flavors, so I often don't like specialty ice cream stores, but S&S is super good, and it's not that expensive. It's always exciting to go
For those that have only had Baskin&Robbins and grocery store ice cream, I'd recommend their almond brittle and salted ganache. It has the salty balance plus the extra crunch that goes so well with ice cream! But honestly, try all the flavors!
Nick Estrada
Great ice cream. There usually is a line but the wait is worth it. If you just want a pint from the cooler skip the line, pick it up and pay without waiting in line.
Daniella Vala
Got the Almond Brittle ice cream and the chocolate brownie ice cream... sooo good! They have a variety of interesting flavors. The ice cream is very rich and creamy. They let you sample as much as you want. The staff is going and very friendly.

I love how customer service is very important from this place. One staff named Jay was the best customer service I've ever encountered in my life. She's very helpful, she makes u feel at ease, she's very polite and funny. I give her 5 star. The ice cream flavors were wonderful. I'll go back again. Thanx Jay!
Chad Phillips
Wow, this ice cream was delicious. My girlfriend and I were eating on the patio of a restaurant down the street and kept seeing people walk by with it. We decided we had to go try it. I couldn’t believe how busy it was at 10:30 pm on a Tuesday, but the line went by super quick. I had the cinnamon snickerdoodle with vanilla and my girlfriend had the snickerdoodle as well but with chocolate brownie. Might be some of our favorite ice cream we’ve ever had!!! They have so many weird options we’ll have to try another time.
Ford Tuff
One of the best ice cream chains in the country. Go in and taste all the amazing flavors. Love this ice cream. Also be adventurous and pick a crazy flavor. You may be surprised how much you like it
Sen Mian Ng
Super friendly staff who guided us with the ice cream flavors as there were so many to choose from.
Kraig
Ice cream with unconventional flavors, all of which are made in house and served in waffle cones or cups. I am partial to the typical ice cream flavors (I'm kind of boring), but I thought that the wild flower honey (May flowers flavor) wasn't bad. The line is long here, so be prepared to wait.
William Hackley
There was a bit of a line but it moved very quickly. If you are going with someone else, I highly recommend the flight of flavours so you can try a variety.
Caroline Tan
Friendly staff and good service. I really like how they have the “split” option because I wanted to have two flavors but don’t think I can finish 2 scoops. The split is actually 2 pretty big scoops in my opinion. I feel like I got like 1.5 scoops instead of one scoop (0.5 flavor A & 0.5 flavor B)
Nick Gervais
Their ice cream is very good, probably the best in Seattle! My only complaint is that they don’t do a great job on keeping up with the demands for waffle cones. I’ve had multiple times now where they are sold out of cones.
Roya Habibi
Salt and straw has held my heart for years now (in my past chapter I lived in Portland) and when I heard they followed me to Seattle I a.l.m.o.s.t d.i.e.d
Now I could go on for days explaining why their ice cream flavors are superior to all other specialty ice cream stores (by a long shot)... I am a self proclaimed ice cream connoisseur. But the experience that Salt & Straw creates is one-of-a-kind, and really puts them in another league. You are greeted by smiling faces that are more than happy to let you try every flavor regardless of the length of the line out the door.
This isn't cheap ice cream, but this is why you go out to spend your hard earned money on frozen milk (yogurt or vegan options!). Must do ice cream shop.
Celine Brown
You think the flavor is weird, that's understandable. But the truth is, this store can make any flavor delicious. Its genuinely ridiculous. They have rotating monthly flavors and regular local flavors. The stores in california and Oregon have some similar and some other local flavors as well, so if you're ever in another city, go try those out as well. Portland locations are amazing with lines still regularly out the door. Service is fast, good, and generous samples.
Forget molly moons. Forget bluebird. Stop it. Come here. It's better.
Elizabeth Barr
Super friendly, and kudos on the creative flavors quality ingredients. Unfortunately not much selection for the traditional ice cream lover. I'll be back when I'm ready for black pepper and nettles in my ice cream!
Kayla Gregory
Salt & Straw was the best ice cream place I've been to in a long time. Innovative AND delicious ice cream. My new husband and I enjoyed a FLIGHT of ice cream: Goosebumps, Twins, Geronimo, and Coffee. They were all amazing - had a hard time choosing our favorite! The staff were pleasant and so accommodating!
Daniel Rivera
Some solid ice cream with some solid options! You can tell that this ice cream is dense and the flavors are fresh. I love the collaborations they have between other companies. Keeps the place unique and new with every visit!
Christina Hou
They have really unique and full flavored ice creams! Really loved Rachael's raspberry ginger beer. Vegan but still soft like creamy ice cream. And the Ellenos yogurt with matcha was great! Matcha ice cream with pockets of yogurt flavor. Great mix! You can split the single scoop into 2 small scoops for only $0.50 if you can't decide on a flavor.
Isaac Wolfe
Okay, Salt and Straw is known far and wide for being amazing. My two cents are that it has cool flavors and to he adventurous when you go. Just remember the price tag makes this a special occasion ice cream place. It'll be about $10 a person.
Lilian Hu Nguyen
Always delicious, this one is no different or any less great than the original Cali locations. Employees are friendly, service as fast as they can get it going, delicious ice creams with fresh waffle smells wafting. It's a dream!
John Nguyen
I got that Rachel's Raspberry Ginger Beer (v) and it was bomb. The dude that was scooping the ice cream was very informative about the brand and the flavors. The guy that was working Dec 5th was killin' it.
The v is for vegan with the main ingredients being Rachel's ginger and raspberry syrup and coconut cream. I'm lactose, so this was perfect.
Monica
Delicious and innovative flavors. There was a long line but it moves decently fast. If you don't want to wait in line for a scoop...you can just grab a pint from the freezer, pay at the cashiers, go home and eat it :)
Nik Mohan
Awesome unique seasonal icr cream flavours.
Livyan Syu
Creamy 🥰 …

Just Wawww.
Very funny crazy delicious flavors.
Olive oil 😂😂 blue cheese 😂😂 fried chicken 😂😂
Sooo amazing and delicious.
Must try if you are in Seattle ❤️❤️
Timothy Williams
This was a great ice cream shop! The store was packed which let me know it's a good place. They had a nice variety of ice cream and you could try samples. The Honey Lavender was amazing. The beecher's cheese with peppercorn toffee and almond brittle with salted ganache were great too. The store is nice and clean and the staff was helpful. #youscreamwescream,
Nathan Dodge
Good ice cream and fun flavors. This is worth the visit and sharing an ice cream with some friends. Try the eclectic flavors even if they sound weird.
Nicholas Franklin
The flavors are super fun and original.
The Beechers Cheese and Peppercorn flavor is unique and tasty.
I had a Raspberry and Ginger Beer made with coconut milk milkshake that was a little over $10 but was a treat and tasted exceptional.
Arthur Sherwood
Really great icecream, though a lot of their flavors are a bit too "modern" to appeal to me. I pretty much never want rose petals mixed into my icecream. I guess I'm just uncultured swine. That said, it is very yummy, and even if you are my persuasion, you will find something you like.
J C
If I have to pick between salt and straw and mollymoon, I would always go for salt and straw. Their waffle cone tastes better, ice cream is also more flavorful.
Sergio Pereira
Wow, wow, wow. The taste, the subtle notes and flavor. This place is awesome!!!?.
Lizzy Thorne
The classics are incredible, and the specials change often, so there's always something new and amazing to experience here. They make a point to ask about allergies as well, so you never accidentally pick something that will make you sick.
SRV 21
Is a very popular center. Expect some ridiculous to decent waiting times, but it's worth it. First someone helps you to see what flavors you want to try and that person takes care of you until billing. Have all eccentric flavors with salt to everything else. Liked the salt caramel chocolate flavor.
Jonathan Macalma
There ice cream is really good. It's so good that I've litterally been in for 5 days straight. You have to try all their flavors but you can't go wrong with the coffee and whiskey flavor.
Katie Yamada
I'm a fan of Salt and Straw. I somehow feel like the quality of Molly Moon's has gone down in the past few years (as they've been expanding more and more). This place always has long lines but it's totally worth it, and the customer service is incredibly good. They have every employee dedicate to a "party" in line. So, if there's a huge party taking up all the space at the counter, instead of waiting for the party to clear so they can assist *you*, they'll walk around from behind the counter and walk up to you in line to ask you which flavors you want to try. The last time I was here about half the line (excluding the part at the counter) was being helped by the staff -- amazing service.
Each ice cream has a little story around it, and they're all incredibly unique and local flavors - very inventive. I love the salted caramel here (Molly Moon's is just way too salty), and this month was berry month, so I had a scoop from their seasonal selection as well.a
Nik Kontrimas
Super yummy ice cream that is arguably the best ice cream in Seattle (yes even beating out Molly Moon’s). I love the menu using ingredients from local producers and a seasonal menu changes monthly with sometimes some quirky ingredients (very Portland to do that). Can’t wait to see what they bring back every month.
Tiffany-Ashton Gatsby
I couldn't eat this ice cream daily, but it is an awesome treat. Worth waiting in line for. Try one of the unique flavors. I had one with goat Cheese and habanero jelly that was almost as good as the one with duck skin
Malgorzata Blachnicka
Love May Flowers flavors! Chocolate-Rose Petal my fav.
Sidhant Gupta
I wanted to give 4 starts because I personally found the icecream a tad bit over sweet BUT, awesome freakin staff, great texture and a great selection of flavors! I would highly recommend the almond brittle. The limited edition chocolate fresco was a bit too sweet for what is supposed to be a super chocolatey goodness.
Pablo Martinez
Best ice cream in the city! Always satisfies. The classic flavors are great but we tend to always get their limited edition flavors because they're always so enticing.
David Wang
While I realize this place is not even a Seattle chain, it still is probably my favorite ice cream store. Their classic sea salt caramel favorite is amazingly perfect and the best I've had of that flavor. Molly Moon's take tends to be too salty for me.
Tara Muñoz
They have some of the best ice cream ever. I went from having ice cream once a year... maybe, to having it once a month! So many different interesting flavors. Some are staples, some are seasonal, all are great flavors.
Ashley Brunner
Great service. Love that they have standard and seasonal vegan flavors!! The ice cream itself is sweeter than I would like, but the flavor concepts are always on point.
Andrew
There's usually a long line, but it's worth it. You get to sample any flavor you want and there's a monthly rotating flavour as well as the standard flavours.
Tip: if you want to get a pint of ice cream, you do not need to wait in line.
Premmika Momo
Thank you for your delicious yummy ice cream and also the smile 😊 from your face at store and also the smile on the palate that you wrote the note to me. Thank you very much. …
Lucy Chai
Urgh such unique flavours and excellent attentive service. You can have as many samples as you'd like and they go to you while you're in line. I loved their strawberry balsamic, who knew those two would go together? Also GIANT portions!
Samara Peters
Ice cream shop with such unique flavors! The staff are also super friendly and focused on expiditing your trip through the line, which was awesome. Great pricepoint too! Yum!
Davis Harrison
Love love love. No comparison to their ice cream.
One hot Summer day we swung by with our dogs and they politely told us we couldn't bring our dogs in. Instead of being rude, they actually took our order from outside and we were fortunate to skip the line. That's service!
Sarah Hassoun
Delicious ice cream great options and friendly staff
Megan Lovett
Great variety, including options for dietary restrictions (gluten-free, vegan, nut free) if you need them. Their vegan options are so good you can't tell the difference. Tends to be pretty busy though, and it's very loud when it is, so plan to enjoy elsewhere.
Trina C.
They have some strange flavors that are hit or miss, but the hits are really excellent! Get the flight so you can try a bunch. My favorites are the honey lavender (I usually hate lavender) and whiskey coffee ice creams.
Jayme M
Came in to treat myself post wisdom tooth surgery with a friend. The employees saw my little wrap and puffy cheeks came around the counter to make sure they could hear me. When I said I wanted a milkshake they explained the flavors that wouldn't have ingredients that would irritate my surgery site. They were so sweet and considerate and made sure to blend my mint milkshake up extra well. Perfect end to a very painful day. I hope one of them reads this and gives themselves a little hug for making me feel a lot better.

This place is really good. Some of their flavors get a little weird, but they always end up being good. I don't know how they do that. The Chocolate Brownie and the Honey Lavender were the high points of my visit. Check it out.
Aman Mehra
We went at around 9.30pm on a Sunday and had to stand in a queue for about 15mins before our turn. We tasted almost the entire menu and ultimately ordered a flight of 4 flavors. The lavender and the lemon pepper flavors were my favorite of the lot and we'll definitely be going back.
Gustav Gennrich
So many unique and rotating flavors! We had two tasting trays so we could try as many as possible. They all were tasty in their own way. I do wish there was more seating.
Luis Arnaut
Too good and too close to home. This place is going to be responsible for my love handles. I've tasted almost every flavour and they are all delicious. There's always a line, but the staff is pretty efficient, so it moves fairly fast.
Dana Allen
Encountered a real life angel here - Jay - our guide to a tasting journey through Salt & Straw’s impressive repertoire of flavors. We came towards the end of the night, so they weren’t as packed as usual, which worked to our advantage as Jay generously sampled us through the menu. This was ice cream nirvana. I’ve already accepted this was the pinnacle of my ice cream life, it may never get better than tonight!! Thank you Jay 🌟 such a star!!
Kelsey Kuhn Eubank
Salt & Straw is a must visit for ice cream! The flavors are unique and the staff is always friendly. I love sampling their new and unique flavors each time I go.
Rob Buchta
I scream for ice-cream! Salt and straw has a ton of flavors you never knew you wanted to try. My wife and I had a flight- 4 savory and sweet flavors to delight even the most complex palate. Rich chocolate ganaches peppered with sea salt, almonds, Caramels; and-on the other end of the flavor spectrum- unique ingredients like Beecher's cheese, beef marrow, smoked cherries... Delightful.
Enjoy yourself and scream again for Ice cream.
Maritza Santillan
The workers were very knowledgeable and courteous and the ice cream was fresh and flavorful. Love the lavender honey! And the waffle cones are absolutely amazing.
Jungmin Lee
the ice cream itself is 5 stars
i got gooey brownie and the salted caramel. for a person with a sweet tooth, i LOVED it
the queue is so long tho, and the portion is a bit small for the price
Em Te (YelloLemon)
Honey 🍯 lavender ice cream 🍦 …
Karina Cecilia
My favorite I've cream spot in Seattle! They have rotating flavors and they are all amazing! They also have their regular flavors and those are also great! They always come out with a pie flavor or a cookie flavor and they are to die for!
Zachary Dankowicz
My favorite ice cream place... went here twice on a visit, should have come more 😆 …
Byrne Valereen
A must-visit place for all ice-cream lovers! Smooth, creamy and flavourful. I ordered the birthday cake & blackberries (it has real cake and Berry bits in it). Yum!
Naj Ali
A while back a friend introduced me to this ice cream spot. In her own words “ it’s better than “M 🌚” she let out. —Whenever the suns out or when it gets a little gloomy, make a pit spot at this shop:) Grazi! …
apoorv gupta
Great icecream! Love it in Portland. Love it here. I love their chocolate brownie icecream. Not a big fan of their seasonal flavours but thats probably just my preference in taste.
Robert Craig
My favorite ice cream spot in Cap Hill! Line is usually long, but it moves quickly and they have staff prompting those later in the line to sample ice cream flavours usually :D Pretty reasonably priced, and the ice cream is very well-made.
Todd Ellis
We absolutely loved our ice cream here. Highlight recommended the salted caramel ice cream. My wife got an ice cream flight that wad the highlight of here trip. Inventive flavors.
Andy Baek
Best ice cream in town. Better than Molly Moons. The flavors are super creative and they partner with a lot of local spots like beechers cheese and Rachel’s ginger beer.
Lia Kamitsis
Some of the best ice cream ever! The creative flavors are a lot of fun; even if it sounds weird, I recommend sampling it because you might find an unexpected new favorite.
Justin Sturek
If you want ice cream.on capital hill this is a must stop in. Really creative flavors that aren't the regular. You will want to try many and have a tough time not buying more scoops then you should.
Sayed Atif Ali
Great ice cream's! Just make sure to let them know your dietary restrictions, some of the ice creams have gelatin and animal products in them. Also, needless to say, let them know your nut allergies as well, while choosing the savory ice cream flavor's!
Lola London
I've been twice and both times there was a line, however, it's worth it!! They have new feature flavors every month and they let you taste test some if needed. They have vegan options and they use locally sourced ingredients. The staff are friendly too! I would go back again.
Robert Fertig
Really high quality ice cream. They have lots of whacky flavors and do a few more standard flavors well. Downsides: expensive and always has an excruciating line.
Pro tip: buy a pint, skip the line.
Annaliese Wieler
Interesting rotating seasonal flavors- goat cheese Marionberry habanero was great
Christi Balaki
Great employees and excellent ice cream. Sometimes it can get a bit busy but it's manageable.
杨宇辰
Very tasty ice cream and crowded.
Nicholas O'Connor
A wide mix of interesting flavors, but all are tasty. I tend to go for the vegan mint
Michael Apollo Lira
First class ice cream. They can do no wrong. Genius, unique flavors and combinations. Served by the friendliest, nicest people. The Willie Wonka of ice cream. Can't hate them, even if you want to. Too bad for all the ice cream Slugworths out there.
