Reviews of Frankie & Jo's Capitol Hill
Excellent ice-cream shop in Capitol Hill, with the added bonus of being plant-based. You wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between dairy and the coconut milk until someone mentions it. Wonderful selection of flavours, from caramel charcoal ash to brown sugar vanilla, and cookies and cream to seasonal specials like pumpkin spiced latte. All delicious. Super friendly and lovely staff.
Where values and good intentions meet impact. This is my favorite ice cream place in Seattle (and maybe in the word so far). F&J’s is a business I would want to invest in. The seasonal flavors have become a monthly exploration for us and the innovation around them are always a delight. The experience in the store with the people serving the community is exceptional and excellent. Makes me feel great to have and support businesses like this. People who haven’t yet adopted plant based living have shared how exceptional the ice cream is. Moving towards a more oat milk based approach is also an exciting journey I am joining them on. They truly spread happiness in every lick.
Vegan dreamland! if you are Vegan, this is a place you need to visit!
I am not Vegan but have started to love Vegan after our last vacation! The Ice Cream are made from plants and they have Free Tastings!
Ordered a scoop of Dream State which takes you on a joy ride of fresh pistachios, coconut milk ice cream with bits of almond fudge. This was amazing!
Ordered another scoop of Molten Chocolate Cake which is a Coconut Milk Icre cream with Cane sugar.
Friendly staff, parking can be little difficult but not a surprise on Capitol hill!
I was interested in this ice cream shop because it is plant-based and has fantastic reviews. I got the dream state (seasonal, pistachio flavor) and the California cabin on the dark cocoa cone. It was PERFECTION!! I immediately put this shop on my favorites and I hope more people experience it for themselves!!
Great vegan ice cream (only vegan options exist), unlimited sampling, very friendly staff, eco-friendly, decent prices and nice location. Definitely recommend, especially if you are vegan. They also sell pints and have monthly specials.
Most ice creams have a coconut base that may be a bit strong for some people if you don't like coconut.
I had the beetroot strawberry rose sorbet, chocolate tahini super cookie (favorite) and salty caramel ash. All three had appropriate sweetness, right texture and a base that had notes of coconut.
The salty caramel ash was quite unique and was the first black/grey ice cream I had ever had.
Best icecream I've had so far in Seattle! Love their focus on vegan icecream and message of sustainability. The Summer Harvest cake was amazingly decadent fudgy. I hope it stays around longer, but I also can't wait to see what fall flavors come out!
Decadent ice cream with a beautiful decorative store. I tried the Chocolate and the Seasonal Chocolate cake. Delicious, will return. But be warned the ice cream is extremely filling.
Great place to go for a delicious plant base Ice Cream, their waffle cones are gluten-free and even their toppings are vegan! Definitely a must try!
The chocolate ice cream is so creamy that I couldn’t make out that it was vegan. The strawberry rose sorbet is great too. I wasn’t a huge fan of the summer sundae - felt like I was eating coconut oil.
For the past 3 years, I drive from Auburn to Seattle JUST FOR Frankie & Jo's then drive home.. that's how good this creamy vegan ice cream is. There's nothing in the stores like it. And because the seasonal flavors are always so good, I go every month.. FOMO is strong because some flavors may never come back.
Wow wow wow !! Best vegan ice cream we’ve had so far ! Went everyday throughout our four day trip in Seattle . Tried all of the flavors - can’t go wrong with any of them but the seasonal flavors of august were amazing ! We loved the blueberry basil buckle!! Mmmmm
This place is extremely expensive but the ice cream is SOOO good, i've never had creamier ice cream in my life! I love that they are all gluten free as well!
Nice to have a vegan ice cream alternative around! They have cool flavors and I wanna go back to try more of them. The brown sugar vanilla was pretty good and creamy. It's not gonna be the same texture as regular ice cream but for vegan ice cream, this is pretty good. Employees were really nice and friendly too. The only con is it's really expensive!
Best vegan ice cream in Seattle. Their golden milk is my favorite. They have new flavors every month which keeps you coming back for more.
I loved loved their dream state pistachio, it reminded me of the homemade pistachio gelatos in Italy. Please make it a permanent flavor!
Some of the ice cream flavors don't necessarily blend well with the coconut milk base, e.g. the chocolate flavors.
Delicious vegan ice cream with unique flavor options! I visited 2x during my trip and loved every last bite!
I got a recommendation for Frankie and Jo's ice cream from two different food blogger friends on my visit to Seattle so I knew this was a must try!
I came here with 2 friends and we decided to split three scoops among us.
We sampled at least six of the flavors and really really liked all of them!
The Chocolate Tahini Supercookie actually tastes like a rich chocolate ice cream with the crunchy cookies in there. Really good. We really liked the California Cabin as well.. the cardamom undertones really came through and it reminded us of some Indian flavored desserts.
The first one we picked was the Salty Caramel Ash. I'm usually not a fan of salted caramel ice cream but this one was just so smooth and perfect! No crunchy parts in here but I really loved it! It was my favorite among all!
We also went for the Freckled Tahini Fudge, which was a seasonal flavor. This one actually had chunks of fudge in there which was a nice contrast to the ice cream. It had a rich deep tahini flavor but I did get a bit tired of it after a while.. the Miso Moon was also similar in terms of that rich flavor.
Would totally go back for the Salty Caramel Ash though!
This ice cream blew me away for plant-based. Creamy, flavorful, and delicious flavors with no freezer burn or off taste from the alternative milk products. The shop got busy right after we came in and the employee stayed kind and patient with guests as the line grew. It's worth the splurge if you want to try some really tasty dairy-free ice cream (which I'd honestly choose over some regular chain options).
Words cannot explain who amazing is this olace
Gracie Brown
Graice Lason are beyond expectations they are super nice
You made my bight girls
Thanks for great customer service
This place has awesome ice cream
Yet it is pricey but really delicious
Love this vegan ice cream place with unique flavors and amazing toppings. I love their message about sustainability when it comes to the ice cream they serve and the products they serve it in
Delicious 100% vegan ice cream place with some extremely creative flavors. Excellent taste, and the vegan focus is much appreciated!
The shop's got a cute aesthetic and the ice cream is undoubtedly delicious (I usually forget that it's even vegan), my only issue with it is that it feels ridiculously expensive. I get that it's high quality ice cream and creative flavors, but even still, it's hard to justify $10 a person for ice cream. Also was a little upset by how little cone shatter is given for $1.50.
Sweet all natural options for vegan ice cream sweetened with dates! Not too sweet, just perfect!
I've always loved Frankie and Jo's and have been coming here for years. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Every ice cream flavor, waffle cone, and add-on is dairy free, including their caramel sauce.
Amazing vegan "ice cream". Staff were very kind and friendly. There are monthly specials.
Gluten free waffle cones!!! Gluten! Free! Waffle! Cones! The only $12 cone that’s truly worth it. Some of the best vegan ice cream I’ve ever had and the gluten free brownie and cookie bits are unreal.
Amazing plant based ice cream. Will please plant based and non-plant based eaters alike. They have a great mix of classic and eclectic flavors in this cute spot with friendly employees
New and Unique flavors every month. Best ice cream in all of Seattle. Can’t believe it took me so long to try them. A must go!
I recently stopped by for ice cream and was a initially skeptical by how overdone and instagrammable this place is. As a millennial, I’ve been scammed and catfished enough, but this place is actually good.
I had the golden milk ice cream and it was THAT good. I think one scoop with a cone was like $7 or $10 bucks, which is pricey, but definitely worth it.
I love that their products are vegan without tasting like healthy food does and I’m excited to return and try new flavors.
I guess they are pretty good for being vegan and if you have significant milk allergies. I think salt and straw flavor, options, and pricing is superior compared to this place.
Considering they are Vegan, it’s great. As normal ice cream, it’s also great. Not sure it’s in my top 3 for ice cream on caphill though.
I did like this ice cream, but keep in mind the big kick to this place is that it's vegan. If you're not vegan and don't care about eating dairy, I personally feel both Molly Moon and Salt n Straw (and most other non-vegan ice creams) taste better overall.
Very good ice cream, could hardly tell it was both vegan and gluten free. I had the Mint and chocolate tahini cookie flavor, my wife had the ash and chocolate kale coconut. All the flavors I tried, almost the entire menus were good.
This is for sure a fru-fru (spelling) type ice cream place, even more so than near by Salt & Straw and Molly Moons. Don’t come here if you are just looking for standard flavors. However, if you are ok with some non-standard, little different flavors it’s worth a try.
Though it is expensive, $4.5 for a small one flavor, $6 for a medium up to two flavors, and $9 for a large up to 3 flavors; you do get a good amount of ice cream for your money. I would argue there is substantially more ice cream here for the $6 medium than the $5.50 split scoop at Salt & Straw.
The scoop shop was also nice and clean and had a boutique-y feel to it. The staff we interacted with were all very helpful and professional.
This is the go to place for vegans for ice cream !! We were amazed by the quality and the options. Staff is super nice and courteous. Not a lots of seating though. We tried Jamocha and Chocolate mint brownie, and both were awesome.
The vegan ice cream place tastes amazing. There's always a long queue. They have seasonal favourites to choose from. The atmosphere is calm and soothing (not too noisy). A good dessert date place. I have tried the mint brownie scoop, the flavours are very unique here. Would definitely recommend.
All vegan ice cream and sorbet! They the strawberry sorbet with beet juice! The is also some amazing options with kale. Yes! Kale in ice cream. You are going to think "how is that dessert?", but then you'll try it and think "where have you been all my life"!
Cute, modern ice cream shop with delicious flavors! The whole place is vegan and gluten free and some of the flavors are made with dates as a sweetener. The mint brownie was AMAZING and the caramel ash was fun and different (the black ice cream on top), but not anything to write home about compared to some of the other options, so I’d get another flavor next time. The lacy yet sturdy cone was one of the best I had all year which is impressive considering they’re gluten free.
All vegan ice cream and sobert. I have tried many vegan ice creams and my only critique is that this brand tastes a little sugary. I loved the texture and creaminess. I would definitely eat here again.
Amazing ice cream! Amazing flavors. Would never guess it was vegan . Honestly better than traditional ice cream . I'm not vegan! Been twice these past couple of days. Also the the waffle cone it self is great too. Visiting from LA . We need one there!
Really tasty ice cream 🍦🍨😋 The waffles are made on the spot and are a must try. Try the non standard flavors like the Salty Caramel Ash. Line can be long, but worth the wait …
Who would have thought that spices in ice cream would be so good! It's some of the best ice cream I've ever had. Such a unique taste. It's vegan too which makes it even better. Ginger golden milk was my favorite.
Prices: $4 for mini, $6 for standard, $9 for large
So there are some "weird" flavors here, but I'm not sure there's anyone who *wouldn't* love the salty caramel ash. Yeah, buddy, it's fine. Service was friendly. Homemade vegan waffle cones? Yes, please. And you can taste 'em all for free. This isn't "delicious vegan ice cream," it's just "delicious ice cream," period.
Food: This ice cram parlor has some of the most original flavors I’ve ever had the pleasure of tasting. The fact that it was none dairy was completely unnoticed. Cannot recommend this place enough for dessert.
Atmosphere: small and cozy. It’s nothing unusual. Quick order and go type of spot.
Service: Awesome staff. Let us have as many samples as we wanted and carefully guided us through each unique flavor.
A great place to grab a vegan ice cream. It generally gets crowded and you have to wait in line ~10 minutes to order. The ice cream can be a hit or a miss. Highly recommend trying before buying. I tried the salted caramel ash and it was delicious. Sweet and salty perfect combination with a subtle coconut flavor which I believe is used to create the ash color. It's a bit on the expensive side and the price can add up quickly if you buy toppings and waffle cone. The store only has sustainable products.
Better than any non vegan and vegan ice cream I've ever had hands down. The waffle cones are amazing and also something I thought I'd never be able to eat again after having to give up gluten on top of being vegan. Lots of different unique flavor options and I've tried quite a few so far and have never been disappointed. Thank you frankie and Joe's for making ice cream as a vegan such a nice treat 😋
It's so hard to find good vegan ice cream. I'm so amazed by this ice cream! My favorite thing is it can be hard to find vanilla and chocolate vegan ice creams at a traditional coffee shop, but they have a really tasty brown sugar vanilla. I'm so excited to bring my friends!
Vegan Gluten Free and absolutely tasty! We were a little hesitant after reading the descriptions, kale, dates, tahini, beet, and rose. All things you would never imagine to enjoy in ice cream. We judged wrong! The Kale Lime Leaf was jaw droppingly good, we also tried chocolate brownie, activated charcoal and cali cabin. Can you all mail us a pint to Atlanta? Please!!!! Gluten free cones were also tasty! We hope to be able to experience this goodness again, sooner than later.
Frankie and Jo’s offers vegan and gluten-free ice cream. I am neither so my concerns have always been, “Will it taste as good? Will it be just as creamy?” My concerns were put to rest as F&J did not disappoint. The only concern that remained was which flavor to have? I chose California Cabin because the description hooked me! More about my F&J visit along with other ice cream faves, visit my website Joy et Joie.
Totally loved the ice creams. Both jamoca fudge and don't remember the other chocolate based one. Friendly staff. Cute ambience
Go try one of their special flavors this month of May! My friends and I loved the chocolate masa cookie ice cream 🍨 …
Dairy free, but amazing collection of flavor and every we tasted was soo amazing! Def. coming back :)
Has to be my most favorite ice cream place. I'm vegan and I feel grateful that this ice cream place exists.
I don't think I can say enough positive things about Frankie & Jo's! I visited for the first time after a trivia night, then went back multiple times to take different friends there. Vegans and non-vegans alike love their flavors and waffle cones. Unique, rich, and delicious are the descriptions that come to mind. I am glad I don't live nearby - I need the distance to keep my ice cream cravings at bay! :D
Some of the best vegan ice cream I've had yet! The texture is so creamy and the flavors were delicious!
There was a line out the door but the line went down quick. Seems like there's only street parking, but that gives you an opportunity to walk around the neighborhood. A lot of cool businesses/restaurants!
Review: OMG! This is not only the best ice cream I've ever had, but it's freakin vegan. I'm on a WFPB diet but I cheat for ice cream every here and there, now I don't have to cheat! Yay!
We got "Golden ginger milk", "Kale lime leaf", and "Taro root sea foam". Despite the interesting sounding names, they were all to die for vegan food.
Tip: Make sure to read the menu outside before heading in, because there is a lot more in "ginger golden milk" than you would guess.
Tip 2: Usually when you buy large you get more for your money, but not here. A large is $9 but only 8 oz. whereas a small is $4 for 4 oz. and a medium is $6 for 6 oz. Although you do get 3 flavors.
My heart is happy. As a lactose intolerant, ice cream lover. I got so giddy to find this gem in Seattle! I wish I can take this place to Arizona with me.
Checked out this plant based ice cream place for the first time, and it is great. The flavors are unique and delicious. I got a small cup of a seasonal banana flavor. I could taste the real banana and can't believe how good they taste being dairy free! If you know anyone with dietary restrictions and love ice cream, this is a must try!
The seasonal Cured Persimmon Pudding flavor (with ribbons of caramel and spiced cake bites) was my favorite out of all of the ones I sampled. (They were out of chocolate mint brownie.) It is so creamy it tastes like dairy ice cream, but it is vegan and gluten free! They also have a delivery service where you can get 2,4 or 6 pints of vegan ice cream delivered to your home! My kids liked the vanilla and they usually don’t like alternate ice creams. We are definitely going back!
AMAZING ALL VEGAN ICE 🍦CREAM 🥰💚 great flavors too.. I make a visit every chance I get 💚💚💚 Delicious …
This is the best vegan ice cream I have ever had, which is still worse than any regular milk ice cream. It's also very expensive, you get a pretty small scoop (relative to Salt and Straw or Molly Moon)
Good for vegan ice cream but salt and straw has similarly tasty vegan options and better prices. $11 for two scoops is a bit high when there's a salt and straw right down the street
We had the seasonal blueberry strudel and chocolate dates icecreams. It's definitely unbelievable that these ice creams have no milk in them, the texture is super smooth and the taste is really good.
Having said that, I do like milk based ice cream. The richness of it is unbeatable.
Disclaimer: I'm a vegetarian, not a vegan.
One of the rarest and greatest ice cream creations in Seattle. On a cold day at 32 degrees, there was still a line out the door. The wait was ridiculously insane, but it was worth it. I was conflicted on flavors and came to the conclusion that Earl Grey would be my flavor of the day. It was flavorful, smooth and light.
It's a small ice cream shop, but the decor is absolutely fabulous, including the helpful staff.
Good flavors!!
It’t vegan icecream but you never know it until you check it.
A Seattle staple. Seasonal flavors are always on point, and regular flavors are a delight.
A great spot for ice cream lovers and for heathens.
Phenomenal!! Love the texture and ingredients, I got a beet strawberry rose one! The best ice cream discovery in Seattle so far
Amazing ice cream as always, delicious flavors and several options; if you go on a Friday night it will be very crowded.
Ice cream is easily one of the best desserts and Frankie and Jo's has jumped high on my list. I strongly dislike most vegan ice creams so when I saw this place was plant based, I was hesitant. I figured that I may as well though because I was already in the area and saw such high remarks. Well, this is easily the best vegan ice cream spot in Washington as of right now, specifically in taste. Cost-wise there are tons of competitors, but none of them match the creamy taste that is Frankie and Jo's.
Now, if you need to eat vegan and plant-based for whatever reason, pick here! If not, I'd stick to regular ice cream, there's no replacing the delicious, creamy, delight that is regular ice cream. You can really taste the different milk alternatives used such as soy milk or coconut milk, but they're blended so well that the consistency is surprisingly smooth compared to other places.
I opted for a mini (1 scoop) because I was scared of the vegan taste being overwhelmingly inconsistent with my expectations of ice cream and wish I got more scoops. This place easily beats all the vegan options around the U-District.
Vanilla - You have to try a basic to get a "standard," ya know? It's like an oat milk in ice cream form and super smooth yet just the perfect sweetness.
Spicy Tahini Chocolate - I'm not sure how I'd describe this one. My friend noted it was similar to black sesame and I suppose that's mainly the tahini. I felt it was somewhat "cinnamony" with a nice chocolate hint. Overall enjoyable. Also includes some cookie pieces (cookie dough or actual cookie wasn't too clear with texture).
Mint Brownie - This is the most comparable to normal ice cream as the flavors really hid the vegan taste. It's a nice basic you can opt for if you're used to regular ice cream, but it's also just a nice refreshing flavor.
Price point is a factor I was hesitant about in my rating, but I definitely compared to other vegan options and deemed the price pretty fair and consistent with those options. It'll be pricier, that's just how it is, but it's not absurd at all.
My favorite ice cream shop in Seattle. Pricey but always worth it, even if there’s a wait. Love that they have seasonal flavors made with local ingredients.
It's amazing, obviously full of crack cocaine. I go once a week and I've gained several hundred pounds. It's so good and everyone involved with this place is going to become a millionaire. Looking forward to seeing this spread Nationwide and internationally. If anyone from Frankie and Jo's reads this I want to somehow be a part of this and like invest or something. The person who makes some of the ingredients is a friend of mine and maybe if I can't be a partner I could get a good guy discount. Anyway great vegan ice cream go here and help save the planet! ✌️
None of the reviews mention price. $4.5 for a mini! $6.50 for a standard! and $9 for a large! +$2.5 for a cone! Are they out of their minds?? That's so unreasonable.
Sure, it is the best vegan ice cream I've ever had, but this is no reason for such a rip off.
I heard a teen come out and tell his friend "dude, $8 for one scoop!"
Hence the the 3 star rating. Sorry but I won't go back.
They were gracious to let my friends and me sample half the menu LOL and the ice cream is well portioned and very delicious
Very tasty and very unusual flavors. Golden ginger indian curry dish. California cabin with smoced vanilla, cardamom and black pepper. Next bay i try salted caramel with charcoal calt and combucha with berries. Awesome.
You might not realize it's not dairy-based ice cream because it tastes that good. Even the vanilla flavor - brown sugar vanilla - is creamy, full of flavor, and satisfying.
Great place for vegan, non-dairy, gluten-free, and other restricted diets. Just prepare for a line on a hot summer day.
Wow. It's not often I get a waffle cone. As someone with Celiac disease, that area of deliciousness is just typically sealed off to me. But everything here was gluten free, and the cone itself was particularly delicious. I had a Seattle Fog and the salted caramel ash, and both were to die for. When I finished my cone, I realized everything was also vegan. I couldn't tell. I'm in love with this place.
Vegan ice cream is never this good! Although it is not cheap, it is well worth the price. The salted caramel ash is my favorite. Staff is very helpful and has always provided great recommendations.
I was recently diagnosed with Celiac Disease, and whattya know, but Frankie and Jos serves up some delicious gluten free and vegan ice cream. Diet restrictions aside this is hands down the creamiest, and tastiest ice cream that I’ve ever had. Made with awesome ingredients, no refined sugar and the staff are the coolest people around. The only downside is that Frankie and Jos is going to take all of my money, but #WorthIt
All vegan, the waffle cone is also vegan.
Love the seasonal fermented berry flavor.
Can't tell the difference between this ice cream and non-vegan ones. Very delicious! Wish they had more topping selections and seating though.
However, it's super cute inside with a convenient Capitol Hill location :)
Frankie and Jo's was absolutely amazing ice cream. We had the jamocha changa fudge which was delicious. Since I'm lactose intolerant, this was the perfect place for me and there wasn't a noticeable difference that it was dairy free. Would highly recommend.
Great tasting vegan ice cream! Try out their supercookies and cream flavor with a waffle cone!
Have been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to visit Seattle to try this ice cream, and we were not disappointed. Of all the plant-based ice creams we've had throughout the country (Van Leeuwen, Coconut Bliss, NadaMoo, list goes on), Frankie and Jo's IS THE BEST! The ingredients are extremely clean (they have the list right on the counter) and the flavors are exciting, I mean Apricot with Sourdough bread?! A-maz-ing.
The ice cream here is vegan but it tastes like real ice cream. Ice cream was really good although a bit too sweet for my tastes. Only complaint here is the cones are overpriced and were cold.
What can I say, when I'm in Seattle, you will find me here at some point. I love that they have new flavors all the time and as unique as they sound they taste just as good. So glad vegan icecream has come this far!
This place nails it for plant based ice cream and gluten-free waffle cones. I love that they have sorbet and ice cream sweetened with other sweetness like dates or maple syrup. They mentioned they are entirely a gluten free shop! My first time having a waffle cone that was gluten-free. And I’ve been gluten intolerant since 2001! Also you can purchase the waffle cones and broken waffle cones to keep enjoying at home.
Enjoyed the salty caramel ash and strawberry milk!
Got the supercookies & cream and LOVED it. I try to do as little dairy in my diet so finding a place that makes delicious dairy-free ice cream is key. I also got to try the beet strawberry rose, it was a little too heavy on the beet for me but was lightly sweet so didn’t feel super heavy!
Ok I honestly was not going into this with high expectations considering everything on the menu is vegan. And wow was I amazed their ice cream is really smooth and their flavors are really unique and interesting. I honestly prefer this place over Molly moon's.
The most amazing all vegan ice cream place!!!!!! Such good quality and service. They’ll let you sample and have lots of different sizes available. I love this place!
Expect to wait 10-15 minutes in line. This is a popular place that would benefit from having an extra person working to help the line flow better. They encourage samples which is really nice. I sampled three flavours and went with the least sweet which was Ginger Milk in a waffle cone.
Always so yummers!!!! Great options for us plant based ice cream lovers!!!! Incredible and unique flavors that'll turn heads!
Im not a vegan or gluten conscious person, i just like trying new foods. Their flavors are tastey and I couldn't tell the difference between this and dairy ice cream.
Very bizarre ice cream shop, with completely unhelpful flavor names–its okay though, because I really believe you can't go wrong. I don't know why they put charcoal in some of the flavors, but you can't taste it and it looks very fun. Incredibly expensive, but for the quality it felt fair. I ended up spending $14 on two cones, one with a topping. The service was great as well, and they let you try as many flavors as you want! The merch also seems great (although expensive).
I’m not a vegan but this ice cream is some of the best in the city. Definitely give it a try. The flavors are unique but so delicious.
Ok, so this place always has a line which is why it took me so long to try it. Today was the day I finally made it in! We still had a short wait but let me tell you, it is so worth it! The ice cream is so so good! You really can't tell it's vegan. It is so creamy and milky, two descriptors you can never use with typical vegan ice cream. I feel like usually it's icy and overly sweet. I got 3 flavors that I shared with my boyfriend. He ordered the Same Carmel Ash, the Mexico Morning, and I ordered the Brown Sugar Vanilla. They were all amazing but the Brown Sugar was my favorite! Such a perfect balanced Vanilla. The Mexico Morning was my second favorite. It had dulce de leche and horchata flavors, yum! And my boyfriend loved the Salty Caramel Ash the most. This one was tasty too. The sweet and salty definitely compliment each other well. It's affordable, delicious, and the shop is cute and Instagram worthy. Check it out if you're ever in Ballard or Cap Hill.
I'm not vegan in the slightest, but I really enjoyed the unique texture and flavor of the ice cream. I wish it were a bit cheaper, but considering the amount and variety of organic/locally sourced ingredients it's understandable.
Suuuper good. Really great flavor selection. Soy free and gluten free, and a lot of the ingredients are organic. Great texture. They have mastered the art of vegan ice cream.
I love those cute pint buckets. The favors are unique. The waffle cones are freshly made.
Delicious vegan ice cream! A bit expensive though. $4 for a scoop, $6 for two, $2 for a waffle cone, and toppings are $1 each. Worth it for the unique flavors.
Delicious ice cream for anyone - vegan or not. Some have an acquired taste so trying a sample is a good idea. I had the seasonal pistachio one and it was SO good!!
We went around 8:30 pm on Sunday and there was a 20 min long line up which we weren't expecting (but we were okay with that). The staff looked a little tired but were still polite. I think the ice cream is too sweet/unique (california cabin flavour that tasted like pine) for my liking and couldn't finish the 2 scoops that I got.
The best ice cream in Seattle and you wouldn't even question it if you didn't know it was vegan or gluten free. Really great stuff.
As someone with gluten and dairy allergies this place is a dream! The cones were amazing and I loved the brownie mint ice cream I got. Definitely a place I'll be going to again when I'm in the area.
Very intimidating. Pretty much *only* for ice cream experts or people seeking adventure. Huge letdown for folks like me who are ice cream beginners and want something comforting.
Always incredible! So many good flavors. We love the seasonal varieties!
Great ice cream options and very friendly staff!
Honestly, just go. You don’t need a novel length review. This place is ridiculously good, and I wish I could just live in their stockroom. And eat all their ice cream. I don’t know how they do it (vegan ice cream? Sounded terrible when I heard about it), but they do and you won’t be disappointed.
Frankie and Jo’s has the BEST vegan ice cream I’ve ever had. I’m not a vegan, but I prefer their flavors to other shops around town! I love the California cabin year round flavor and am always excited to see what seasonal flavors they come up with. They offer pints to go as well as scoops. It has a tiny interior space that is very cute and filled with plants. There is a small bench outside to sit if you want to stay and eat your ice cream.
This was a cute little shop in the heart of Seattle. It was quaint and had a wonderful selection of delicious vegan ice cream! We tried 4 different flavors. Each flavor had its own unique flavor that was a bite of surprise! The cones were amazing. Only con is it was a bit pricey.
Most of the previous review focus on pricy. I only come here for a quick bite. Generally very different from ordinary ice cream. Worth trying.
Great place to get an ice cream treat, and the fact that it is plant based doesn't hurt at all. The flavours and textures are all just as delicious as any other ice cream (we like it better than the overly sweet Molly Moon, actually). The gluten free waffle cone was a rare treat for my wife who usually can't get a cone.
Huge line outside of the building. Waited for quite some time to get in, and it was absolutely worth the wait. Best ice cream I have ever had. AND it's vegan.
Going to try and come here every time I am in Seattle. It is SO good.
After having to wait an entire year of hearing about this place from my best friend Nicole! I was finally able to try their delicious vegan ice cream at Frankie & Jo's and much to my surprise the place was absolutely amazing! I highly recommend the chocolate tahini
All products are vegan here. The flavors offered are like nothing else you will find anyplace else. My favorite is the Beat and Rose which has it's own flavor. It would be most similar to a strawberry and purple grape I guess. I always get the waffle cone. They mix the batter, grill and roll the cones in store so they are fresh and really good. They have quarts and half gallons of the most popular flavors in a cooler right at the front left counter for quick take out. Card or phone pay only. NO CASH TAKEN.
Easily my favorite ice cream shop in all of Seattle. They're flavors are some of the most creative and exciting that I've seen. They rely on carefully mixed ingredients rather than an overload of sugar to make each bite exciting.
If you're concerned that this is vegan ice cream and won't be as good as dairy, don't be. Nothing could be further from the truth - and this comes from a avid dairy lover.
Delicious and unique flavors, completely cruelty free! The staff is super friendly and happy to give samples to help you decide.
I'm not vegan but this vegan ice cream parlor has the best ice cream in Seattle
I got beet strawberry rose sorbet, and it was sooooo good!!! This place is vegan/gluten-free/plant-based.
I love this ice cream so much that I waited in my car an hour and a half for it to open when I happened to be in the neighborhood! I love most of their seasonal flavors- so creative and tasty.
Incredible vegan ice cream. There was a long wait, but it was well worth it. Many different flavors and they also have seasonal flavors that change often
For $21 dollars you and your date can have the best waffle cone in Seattle and average to mediocre ice cream. Just go to Salt and Straw, this place makes them look cheap.
And DONT order the date ice cream. Don't say "nah but I love dates so I'll do it anyways". Don't.
Edit: or Sweet Alchemy. Their in a cute location too, and the ice cream is small but filling. Great flavors too.
Don't let "vegan" scare you off. This is some of the best ice cream you'll ever eat. Inventive flavors, awesome cones.
Drove to Seattle from Portland at 11:45 yesterday with the sole intent of eating at an entirely plant based “burger” shop and coming to Frankie & Jo’s for vegan ice cream.
WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED.
First off- the staff was incredibly nice. They had nothing but positive things to say about the customers who were leaving the shop and made a point of making people feel welcome when they stepped inside!
Now for the goods: honestly, the flavors were so unexpected and not just your typical vanilla or chocolate. The creators truly put a lot of thought and energy into their flavors and how they craft them.
My favorite was the apricot flavor while my friend went for the beet sorbet(?)! (I wish I remembered the exact flavor names!) also, the cone was SO. GOOD. I typically don’t like cones because they’re messy- but I had to try it because it was vegan. So glad I did!! 🤤
I highly recommend everyone and their mom get ice cream here! You won’t be disappointed 🙏🏽
Great staff and delicious ice cream. I ordered golden milk ice cream - there's a lot of turmeric flavor in it which I liked but my friend didn't.
I'm a vegetarian who sometimes plays a vegan, so I was looking forward to trying Frankie and Jo's out. We got a pint of the vanilla ice cream and was not disappointed. It definitely didn't have the taste or texture of dairy-based ice cream, but was still very creamy and sweet and went well with the homemade chocolate brownie that we paired it with. If we are in the area again, we will definitely try a different flavor.
If you're looking for a good $10 scoop of vegan ice cream, this is your place!
My child hadn’t had a waffle cone in ages due to allergies and they were so thrilled to get to have one here! Best non dairy ice cream I’ve ever tried, adorable shop, very helpful staff.
This is one of our favorite stops in Seattle. This cool ice cream shop is always busy but the line moves quickly. The shop is small but clean and well-kept. You can taste any of their unique flavors before settling on a flavor or flavors and their servings are generous. We’re found of the following flavors: Salted Caramel Ash, Gingered Golden Milk, and California Cabin. They have sorbets and seasonal flavors as well. You’d never know these ice creams are vegan because they are rich and tasty! If we didn’t have an hour drive home, we’d take some with us.
Delicious and incredibly creamy! Only downside was the price:volume, which is expected with a vegan spot
Wow! This shouldn’t be allowed! Completely gluten-free and vegan but you cannot tell at all. All the flavors are unique and delicious. The ice creams are also not over sweet because they use natural ingredients to sweeten! Definitely worth a try, I really like the beet and rose sorbet!!
Did not know it was vegan when we ate it. Super yummy! My husband and I shared a bowl with 3 scoops...vanilla brown sugar..chocolate Micha something...and salted carmel...the color of the salted Carmel was bit off putting but everything was tasty!
a tad pricey but very unique and quite the variety of flavors; amazing waffle cone so make sure to add one!
A vegan ice cream parlor in Cap Hill - Hell yes! Had haeard about this place from alot of people and tried it out on a hot sunday evening. They have a simple menu - all ice creams are plant based.. we ordered the double scoops (ofcourse) and went for chocolate date with the jamocha chaga fudge while my husband tried the california cabin with the chocolate tahini supercookie.. every single flavor was spot on and unbelievably delicious especially when its vegan.. the california cabin paired with a chocolate ice cream (any on the their menu) will be a delight.. the jamocha choco fudge had a beautiful coffee flavor blend with notes of almond and chocolate.. the prices are pretty comparable to Molly Moons or Salty & Straw.. the health quotient of these ice creams is really high.. service was nice.. what else could one ask for?
Best ice cream ever. Love the flavors
Delicious ice cream! So creamy and you can’t tell the difference that it’s dairy free. I got the chocolate date and brown sugar vanilla and I was not disappointed by the flavors !
Such amazing vegan ice cream! You won't miss the dairy. Such an awesome array of unique flavors! Try the moon goo if you like toasty caramel! Very attentive and patient service. They let you try lots of flavors. The line is insanely long due to this and how popular it is.
If I didn't tell you, you wouldn't know -- none of their splendid ice cream creations have cow milk in them. Rejoice vegans, those with lactose intolerance, or others who are adventurous and just want to try out innovation in food. I tell my daughter, well if we ever want to send people to Mars, we have to figure out how to not rely on cows for food, whose flatulence drives climate change!
So this place is very much like the nearby Molly Moon's, but with more than one vegan option. The only trick is, don't overthink the crafty but odd flavor descriptions, which sometimes seem quite odd. Just give them a try!
Some tips:
1. they have takeout mini-tubs !
2. if you just want a small caloric impact, get a kid's size scoop!
3. for maximum bang for your buck, get a single scoop cone. It seems you get much more ice cream than a single scoop in a cup!
Let's support this small business!
Small, cute plant-based ice cream shop. Friendly service. The seasonal flavors Apricot Jam, Bread & Chocolate, and their nutty waffle cone are pretty good. The main thing I noticed is that there is a lot more sugar than in regular ice cream. Prices on the high side for but expected for the area and their niche specialty.
Friendly service! Not a fan of the nut based ice creams but would come back to try the different flavors.
Yummy non dairy ice cream. Coconut based. Loving the jamoca fudge and caramel ash. Bought the seasonal apple pecan
Oh my goodnes! This place is amazing! Their flavors are unique and so yummy. The best part is they are VEGAN! My whole family suffers from a dairy allergy so we can never have regular ice cream. But this place is even better than regular ice cream! And their waffle cones are mouth watering. My daughter LOVES the brown sugar vanilla. She asks me if we can go get more almost everyday! The only thing that is a bummer is how long the line is... outside. Hopefully at some point they can get a bigger location and more registers so the line isn’t 30+ minutes to get their delicious ice cream. BUT I will still give them 5 stars because their ice cream deserves it!
Visited Seattle for the first time yesterday. My wife is vegan and I try to enjoy as much of her cuisine as I can. Most of the time, it's delightful. Sometimes, we dine from delegate establishments because I still enjoy animal based foods. Desserts are one of the things I often find can be a challenge for vegan recipes you satisfy.
ALL BETS ARE OFF HERE. Frankie & Jo's HAS IT. If milk based ice cream was no more today and all we had was Frankie & Jo's delicious offerings in its place, I wouldn't miss "regular" ice cream for a second. Their menu contains some amazing ideas on replacing animal milk AND refined sugar. In some of their menu items, dates are used in the place of sugar as a sweetener (amazing). The flavours they offer are unique, delicious, and irresistible.
This was my first visit to Seattle. Even still, I can comfortably say that this will always be a top 5 Washington experience for me. I had the vanilla pine cone. What an amazing flavour profile. Beyond that, their waffle cones blew me away. They taste kind of like burned sugar which I LOVE.
You can sample their flavors and the staff is very kind and helpful. I'm sad we're not closer and that there isn't a F&Js in Sacramento. Can't wait to return.
Originally, when I heard 'vegan ice cream', I wasn't excited, but then I read a review a few years back in the Stranger and gave it a try. This is now my favorite ice cream place in Seattle, vegan or not vegan. Seasonal flavors are always fantastic, as are the usual menu items.
Wow. The ice cream here is amazing. I’m not vegan, I like cow milk, but this is my new favorite ice cream shop. Their flavors are incredible and just perfectly balance. I got their turner ginger ice cream mixed with their fruta sorbet. It was INCREDIBLE. And best of all I didn’t feel overly full and icky like I sometimes do after eating ice cream. They even have a few ice cream flavors that are sweetened with dates instead of can sugar.
My only complaint is that we had to wait 20 minutes in line in a Monday night. BUT it was worth the wait. And I appreciated that the staff were friendly and didn’t rush us despite the line. So honestly it’s not that really a complaint. It’s not their fault that they are so popular.
Also they have GLUTEN FREE WAFFLE CONES. And their decor is SO CUTE.
Good for dairy free, wish they had a *truly* sugar free option. Their 'no sugar' option is with dates and I'm just not into that. They do have coconut sugar. I appreciate their flavors as well, innovative and quirky.
The BEST ice cream, hands down. We've gone in person more times than we can count and also have been having it delivered during the pandemic. Can't wait to go back in for their waffle cones. I'm gluten-free and never thought I'd have waffle cones again... Theirs are just as amazing as the ice cream!
Seriously just beyond delicious! I could go there daily which sums up my visit to Seattle.
My go-to ice cream shop. So incredibly glad there's a vegan ice cream shop that is so delicious, even non vegans come here!
The flavours are so delicious and interesting, and the service is truly unmatched! Definitely a staple in my future visits to Seattle.
I loved this place so much because it is a small cute place to sit and talk and eat ice cream. Their ice cream is the best vegan and gluten free ice cream I have ever come across. It's going to be more expensive then regular ice cream, but definitely worth it. I constantly have to come back to this place because each month they have three new flavors of the month. Even if the flavors sound strange they are worth a try. All in all a taste bud pleaser. Side note; it can be addictive. 🙂
Eclectic flavors fit for the Seattle crowd, this vegan ice cream store has a rotation of seasonal flavors and everyday classics. Service was quick, despite people requesting multiple samples ahead of me. The ice cream is good (albeit a little too sweet for my tastes) but did not have a balance of the flavors that would make it even better. I ordered the Salty Caramel Ash, which registered caramel, but not salted caramel, as well as the seasonal tomato melon mint, which veered more tomato than melon or mint. Still, I would come back to give the other flavors a try.
Great vegan ice cream. Quite pricey and many flavors are too sweet, but you can freely sample until you find one you like! Delicious vegan cones, too! I appreciate how allergy-friendly they are as well.
Ice cream is totally vegan and super delicious. Always helpful and kind service here. Easy to get samples before you commit to a flavor. Only down side is it's so good sometimes the flavors are sold out.
There is quite a bit of variety in the flavors. And a lot of adventurousness. Some are around for a while; some get replaced seasonally. I'm not very much into all the flavors, but I'm guessing there's something for everyone. Currently, the seasonal apple thing is amazingly delicious.
Best vegan ice cream I've ever had
Love the funky choice of flavors. The Ash is the most interesting but I also love the seasonal flavors. Try them all out.
The lovely employee let me sample all the flavors available that day on my first visit. I settled on a Seattle Fog. The mini size was plenty after all the samples! I do wish they would allow two flavors in the mini. I went back a second time a few weeks later and got a mini date shake. I love that they have two flavors sweetened only with USA-sourced dates!! Very tasty vegan treats, and a welcome addition to the Seattle desert scene. Also, the store is beautiful. Take a pic in front of the tropical leaf-patterned wall.
Easily the best ice cream I've ever had. I love the branding/design, the sustainability efforts and the frequent offering of date-sweetened flavours, but above all I love the waffle cones. Forget stroopwafels, these should be sold by the dozen!! I sincerely hope they'll bring their vegan treats across the border and into Vancouver one day. :)
Hight quality ice cream. I eated chocolate and chocololate tahini both of them i could recognize the nature of the chocolate that made up the ice cream. Extremly rare. Amazing
Not a vegetarian or a vegan. I was dubious about the ice cream but we were celebrating with a vegan relative. So . . Wow. Very, very delicious, creamy ice cream. We tried many flavors. My favorite was the salted caramel ash and the mocha. And the waffle cone was so good all by itself.
Amazing unique flavor variety, friendly workers, and a cute storefront. One of the best Seattle ice cream spots. Some of the best ice cream I have ever tasted, & you would never ever know it is plant based. Delicious and healthy ice cream??? Really can’t get any better. I recommend the Chocolate Tahini and the Salty Ash Caramel.
I love vegan ice cream so I was so happy when this opened. The salted caramel ash is totally worth trying, although all the flavors seem to be really tasty. The lines can get pretty long, especially in the summer, but rest assured it's worth the wait. This is a great place to stop in the afternoon for a snack or after dinner if you get the timing right.
This is some of THE BEST ice cream I have EVER had (including regular, non dairy free ice cream) I sincerely hope this is sold in stores one day or made easier to ship because I live in Montana. That being said, I will be visiting this store EVERY time I go to seattle, not matter what. I had the Date Shake which is made WITHOUT cane sugar and oh my goodness, it was so delicious. I'll admit I was skeptical before going but I am glad I went. I also tried 2 of my friends flavors and they were delicious as well. I love that it is all dairy free and made with such good ingredients. Thank you so much for making such a wonderful product (now if you could only somehow make it more easily available in Montana that would be AMAZING)
VEGAN + GLUTEN FREE ice cream that happens to be quite tasty! It's so great to find delicious ice cream that fits in with so many diets. It's a bit pricey, but they come up with amazing flavors and it feels good to support a local business trying to break the mold. My personal favorite is the seasonal Captain Whidbey, if they have it in stock!
They're the creamiest vegan ice cream I've ever had. The reason why it's only 3 stars is because their flavor selection. There's not a lot of difference between flavors, all chocolate taste similar and all others taste like vanilla. I wish they had more fruits flavors, not sorbets, but creamy and with fruits
So delicious, I'm usually not prey to fall for trendy places but damn I'll definitely be coming back.
The ice cream flavors are out of the world. Never tastes anything like their ice cream before. Personally, not for me. But my friends absolutely loved it. The ice creams are vegan but a little expensive side I would say
It's among the best ice cream I've ever had. The fact that it is vegan is just a cool side-fact: the main attraction here is the amazing flavor and texture. I don't know how they make this but it can't be 100% legal. Super good.
The best plant-based ice cream I have ever had! So so so delicious. They have a variety of flavors and they're super fun. Salted caramel ash is a must have and super fun. Try as many flavors as you want! They also make their own waffle cones.
The ice cream (and sorbet) here is delicious - try a new flavor, you won't regret it! My favorite is the beet, strawberry & rose sorbet
The flavors here are super creative. They blend flavors that might seem strange but work really well. Also, the waffle cones they make are the best I've ever had. The vegan ice cream is very creamy and I'm sure I could take my non vegan friends here and they wouldn't even notice. A double scoop in a waffle cone was around $8 and well worth it.
Great place to get good ice creams in the town. Pricing is kinda on the expensive side, but worth the taste.
I am by no means a vegan, however this place is exceptional. The ice cream flavors are unique and delicious. A personal favorite of mine is their salted caramel ash, however I highly recommend tasting a bunch of flavors before purchasing. Their seasonal flavors are also pretty fun.
Cones up this is the best ice cream I have ever eaten! Everything is plant-based, gluten-free & vegan. We tried every single flavor they had available. It was really tough to make a decision just to one flavor when they all were beyond delicious. For my waffle cone, I had the chocolate tahini cookie & My wifey had the mint brownie. Please open locations in New York!
SO. Good. Creamy, perfectly balanced, unique options. Crispy, sweet, crunchy gluten free cones. My kids had their first ice cream cones of their lives here. 3 of my 5 had the Brown Sugar Vanilla in a cone. The other child and myself had the Berries and Fermented cream. The brown sugar vanilla was just the right amount of sweet. A nice, deep, rich brown sugar flavor in a creamy base. The berries and fermented cream had the delightful tang of yogurt (it's vegan) with the bright summer berry and chunks of gluten free lemon cake. I also bought a pint of the tahini and chocolate for my husband. We loved ALL of it. 10/10 highly recommend even for those who can eat dairy and gluten. You will not be disappointed!
Amazing, one of a kind ice cream and always friendly and welcoming service!
Always friendly staff, and great selection for my wife, whom is lactose-intolerant. I have tried multiple flavors as well, and I think it's innovative and tasty. Expensive, but quite worth it especially if you are tired of the garden variety of store-bought non-dairy ice creams. This is certainly a place for foodies whom are not prejudiced to non-dairy desserts. You would also be helping a former Pacific Northwest Ballet ballerina, so why not?!
Great local ice cream shop with unique flavors. I got the vanilla scoop and chocolate school which both were delicious. The vanilla one had a taste of red bean and coconut which brought back memories to my childhood eating Vietnamese ice cream bar. The chocolate had cookie Dough pieces which I loved. Great place!
Delicious vegan ice cream options! I highly recommend it.
$4 for a scoop of ice cream (no cone) isn't outrageous compared to other ice cream shops, and this was vegan!! ++ <3 Longish wait but delicious ice cream (non-vegans agree!), pretty worth it. Friendly service!! Vanilla was delicious, ash was tasty but got sick of it halfway through the scoop. Just my opinion - salt and sugar aren't complementary!!
This ice cream place is a must if your vegan. This place servers an amazing selection of ice cream alternatives we have stopped there twice and it has been great both times.
This is my favorite ice cream in Seattle! The flavors can me interesting but fun to try, many of them seasonal. For people with allergies, the menu clearly states which ice creams has nuts, coconut, soy, etc. They have gluten-free waffle cones that are super yummy and you would never know they are gf.
I love the Date Shake!!! I even got a pint of it. Yes! they have pints!
I recently tried Gingered Golden Milk and oh man! there is a lot of ginger! It was a little intense but if you are a huge ginger fan this flavor is for you!
Frankie & Jo's is a little on the spendy side but I think most of my fellow ice cream eaters are used to that.
Highly recommend!
So delicious! Loved the September Special Mountain Berry Magic. It was very sweet and tasty. The Miso Moon was good but not great. The Chocolate Tahini Super Cookie was very tasty!
Best service! Ella is amazing, very helpful and kind. Loved trying the variety of flavors and seasonal ones are so fun!
Waffle cone is a must, brown sugar and mint brownie are our favorites. Seasonal birthday flavors are what we look forward to every year!
Sometimes a little line, but always worth the wait!
This is my favorite ice cream place in Seattle, dairy or non-dairy. Their seasonal flavors are the best, I come back every month to try them. The waffle cone is delicious as well
Delicious! I had the cookie dough and date shake. I tried the coconut with activated charcoal and really wanted to have that lush grey yumminess, as well. However, I'll save it for the next time. Interesting plant based ice cream, rich and creamy. A well worth it experience!
We love this place! Ice cream faces means it's fantastic and an excellent experience for our kiddos with allergies!
Interesting flavors and not always a hit. The chocolate date one is good but not much different than any other vegan chocolate flavor. The plum one is slightly tarte so good for those who prefer that. This is very much on the expensive side with $14/pint and the taste of it is not worth that.
The best vegan ice cream I've ever had in my life.
I don't know why. But this is heavenly good. All flavors are unique and tasty. And their seasonal flavors are just from another world. Definitely stop by and try. My favorite is beet strawberry rose sorbet.
Every time I have family or friends visit Seattle, I make sure we come to Frankie & Jo's. The flavors are tasty and creative, and the customer service is BEYOND my expectations! Alex helped my friend and I recently and they were phenomenal!! They were patient, asked us what we like, let us taste test everything, gave their own opinions, non-judgmental, 100/100 would HIGHLY recommend this location (and Alex) to everyone! Keep up the good work!
Probably some of the best ice cream I've had, vegan or not! California cabin and salted caramel ash are my favorites, but all the flavors are good! We always have to stop here when we visit.
Let’s be real here people, do I really need to review Frankie and Jo’s? It’s amazing vegan ice cream that has flavors so wonderful, it makes me question what all the ice cream parlors of my childhood were doing.
I mean California Cabin, as a flavor, roundhouse kicks your basic preconceived notions of what ice cream is supposed to be out a window. We’re not even talking about the seasonal specials yet, or the moon goo topping. Go to Frankie and Jo’s and just try them all, ice cream is about fun, and this place knows that more than anyone.
Vegan ice cream sounds like a weird idea, but if you try this version you'll never want to go back to dairy - based ice cream. They also have (delicious) gluten - free waffle cones, which is incredible.
Chocolate Date and Tahini Chocolate are my personal favourites. At least one of them is no- sugar- added too, which kind of blows my mind.
Sooo.. I've always been an ice cream fiend. Growing up, I had ice cream daily. As an adult, I've frequented most of the establishments around seattle and Frankie and Jo's has been my hands down favorite. They constantly roll-out seasonal flavors that are just as mind-blowingly incredible as the last. Seriously can't get enough. Also, I am not vegan... I just choose them strictly based on how freaking delicious they are. See you guys soon! :p
They don’t have the largest selection of flavors, but they do have the best! Their selection is very diverse, from interesting Tomato Melon Mint to decadent Salty Caramel Ash, from creamy Harvey Strawberry Milk to absolutely amazing California Cabin, which has to be my favorite. This dairy-free ice cream shop is the real deal and by far the best ice cream in town.
Best ice cream ever. The fact that is vegan is fantastic but please note I didn't say the best vegan ice cream. I said the best ice cream (of any) ever. Really incredible unique flavors. Worth every penny. Pricey but oh so worth it.
Was very surprised how delicious these plant based ice creams were! Every flavor I had tasted amazing, I definitely recommend trying multiple flavors when you go.
Cute place. Their vegan ice cream still feels like it's in development mode, some of the flavors seem odd to be odd rather than flavorful, like there's an arms war between all the boutique shops and who can include the weirdest edible thing. The best, tastiest item is the waffle cone, delicious and crispy.
Amazing ice cream no matter the flavor chosen - did not realize it was plant based until after my friends told me! Beautiful interior & well worth the stop. Currently looking at having pints mailed to me.
Aside from the wonderful flavors, I want to emphasize that everything here is plant based, vegan, and I believe gluten free. I don't particularly take part in that lifestyle, but I feel I should note how good it is as well as being a healthy (kind of) option. The tahini chocolate, the charcoal one, and I believe the California cabin we're my favorites there. Definitely sample and take your time to know what you want to indulge in. Not to knock on the competition, but the flavors here are much more unique than that of Molly Moon's or Salt & Straw so be ready to be mind blown!
Amazing Vegan Ice Cream!! My friends walked a mile and of course it felt like it was all uphill. We found Frankie and Jos, what a fantastic place!! The ice cream is 100% vegan, the flavors and colors are unreal, but the best part is the flavor!!
Omg literally the best icecream I've ever had! And vegan! Win win! Great customer service, cool place, and reasonable prices! The flavors are so unique and they all taste good! Very impressed with the ingredients. Healthy ice cream is hard to find!
Gluten-free AND vegan ice cream and waffle cones!! A diet-sensitive human's dream!! And they have a seasonal flavor section of their menu which keeps me coming back... Highly recommend trying their vegan caramel - it's so beautiful and delicious...
Just went to the Frankie and Joe’s in Capitol Hill, and wow. The ice cream was fantastic!!! Our server was incredible. She was so bubbly and friendly and very knowledge about every flavor. Ice cream queen! 🤩 …
The best ice cream I've ever had! Unlike the other vegan friendly options in town, the ice cream here isn't watery or flat. It's awesome they have options for those avoiding cane sugar, nuts, dairy, etc. There's pretty much something for everyone!
Absolutely amazing ice cream whether you're vegan or not and gluten free as well! Not your typical “good for vegan and gluten free” but tastes amazing period! Also very friendly service ❤️
Plant based ice cream, but you'd never know it. These are some of the richest, creamiest, and most flavorful and colorful ice cream I've ever had. My favorite pairing is the salty caramel ash (the grey ice cream) and the beet strawberry rose (it comes out a vibrant pink color). The pairing not only tastes heavenly, but makes for some decent pictures for the 'gram. Be sure to taste their seasonal (they change those monthly, which is good and bad because I only have a month to get everything!).
This place has such high ratings because it's vegan, and has some unconventional flavors. It's not a bad place, but the exceptional ratings are for that reason afaict.
I personally found it to have reasonably good ice cream; not exceptional. The ratings are influenced more by it being vegan, and less by the taste of the ice cream.
My friend and I just love going in there, exploring the flavors and chatting with the super friendly helpful and informative staff. Imaginative creative wonderful flavors and an incredible product that is hard to believe is completely vegan.
Vegan ice cream? Don't be scared it's really good. Great flavors and the cone was interesting. Tahini chocolate was my favorite but there were several others that were close. Sample before you buy. Plan to walk around after it is a busy place.
Lots of dairy-free options! The texture was very similar to traditional ice cream as it was so creamy and the taste was amazing! The cone was great too.
Ice cream with deep complexity and wonderfully unique flavors created with utmost care. Their wonderful textures and combinations of savory and sweet make them beyond memorable. Being vegan ice cream makes it all the more surprising, but it is clear that what comes first is thewonderful flavors and luxurious texture of their ice creams. This ice cream blows most non-vegan ice cream out of the water. Now I only wish that I could somehow access their ice cream closer to home!
Amazing gluten free waffle cones!! I look forward to coming here every month to try the new ice cream flavors. 5 stars!
Great vegan ice cream! More choices than any other place I know. Plus the service is awesome.
This place has fantastic gourmet ice cream that happens to also be socially conscious and vegan. What matters most is that it tastes divine. They are rotating flavors, but my favorite "standby" is the Salted Caramel Ash. You have to try this place if you enjoy dessert.
Some of the best ice cream I have ever had, and that includes non-vegan ice cream. I loved my California Cabin flavor scoop. It was creamy, the flavors were great, and the shortbread cookie added a nice texture. The waffle cone was also delicious!
Some of the best ice cream I've ever had, and their waffle cones were 100% the best I have ever had. We are gluten free, but not vegan but every flavor we tried of this ice cream was delicious. We were on vacation in Seattle but now I want to go back just for Frankie & Jo's!! Don't miss this place!!
Frankie and Jo's has changed my world. This is above all the best vegan ice cream place I've ever been to. Although there may be a long line spilling out onto the street, the wait is worth it! The employees are friendly and accommodating. Feel free to try every flavor they offer so you know you're getting exactly what you want. I recommend the Veracruz Vanilla and Tahini Chocolate. Another plus is that the waffle cones are made fresh daily. I can't say enough good things about Frankie and Jos!
Always great service, always great flavours. Great portion size for the price paid 👌🏻 my two favourites: chocolate date (bottom) and date shake (top) …
I love this place! The ice cream flavors are on point and they are constantly changing seasonal options. The whole vibe in this place is me, plants everywhere and neutral colors.
Cons: pricey, and you're going to have to wait a while if you come at peak hours. No nutritional information available. Pros: some of the most delicious ice cream you'll ever have in your life, plant-based or otherwise! The smell of the waffle cone is enough to tell you that this is a serious ice cream shop, and the flavors confirm that hunch. Brown sugar vanilla, volcanic ash, and the seasonal taro sea foam flavor are must haves!
Vegan ice cream with lots of eclectic and interesting flavors. Friendly staff cheerfully serve up as many samples as you like. Thick vegan waffle cones were sweet and crispy and better than any waffle cone I've had vegan or otherwise.
Small place so not a lot of places to sit and enjoy your frozen dessert, but honestly it's really good. Vegan or not it's just really good ice cream, with great and interesting flavors. Would recommend to anyone. Long lines most afternoons and parking in the area can be a challenge.
When I heard that Frankie and Jo's was a vegan ice cream parlor, I had a lot of doubt that it could possibly be any good. You know, the creamier the better? Anyways, this place blew my mind with its rich flavours and creamy textures. I never would have believed that cashew/coconut milk could be made so creamy and the flavours they come up with here (though few) are simply amazing.
Literally the best vegan ice cream I’ll probably ever have, the seasonal flavors are the best. Especially the huckleberry one and all the trees.
I’m a really big fan of this place! Love the carrot cake flavor for May! The ginger is the best flavor in my opinion.
The staff was super friendly and the waffle cones are very good.
For those complaining about the price, I highly recommend you following their Instagram to see behind the scenes. You can tell so much work goes into this place, and the scoops are good sizes too. I think it’s fairly priced for what you’re getting.
I am from Portland and wanted some nice vegan ice cream on a trip through Seattle.
I got a scoop of a seasonal flavor.... I've been thinking about it ever since. I wish I had bought more!!!
Decadent and unique flavors without any imposition upon animals. Delicious waffle cones. Seasonal flavors are always a delight. The staff are friendly and vibrant! The only downside I could say about Frankie & Jo's is you have to wait in a bit of a line because the place is SO popular (with good reason). A definite hit whether you follow a vegan diet or not!
The BEST ice cream I have ever had. Hands down. The flavors are inventive and the CONES....the CONES!! Seriously. Run here, wait in line and make sure you try the flavors. The staff is always so friendly. I wish I lived closer so I could enjoy it more often.
Very original vegan flavors. Will let you taste as many flavors as you want. Had the chocolate date and super banana cookie, excellent although a bit too sweet for my taste. Reasonable prices and lovely staff.
Awesome vegan ice cream!!! Who knew?! And I'm not even vegan. Had the brown sugar vanilla and the chocolate tahini super cookie and tasted the salted caramel ash, actual activated charcoal. All yummy.
Never thought I'd like vegan ice cream from the sound of it, but the taste really surprised me. Tried the chocolate date flavor and found out delicious. Looking forward to trying more flavors! Will say it's a little expensive, but there's a price to pay for something made with just a few ingredients vs a long list of chemicals like most ice cream.
This is the best vegan ice cream hands down that I’ve ever had. It tastes better than cow’s milk ice cream.
Date Shake and chocolate tahini are some of the best flavors in my opinion.
I had the mint chocolate in a waffle cone. You would never know you're not eating dairy. The all plant base recipes are magic. And the waffle cone was just as wonderful as the ice cream. I wanted to order another. Enjoy!!!
Delicious!!! I went with a scoop of the persimmon cake and a scoop of the golden ginger on a waffle cone. It was all too die for. I loved the turmeric texture in the golden ginger and the chunks of cake in the persimmon were tantalizing. The waffle cone was crack on crack served with yet more crack.
I was very pleased with my experience here. I felt like we were given abundant time to try many of the flavors and the kind ice cream server truly gave us an experience even though we went on a busy Sunday evening.
Amazing service.
First time in Frankie and Jo’s and it was like pure magic! The flavors are all so unique and very delicious it was hard to decide on a flavor. I went with the Beet Strawberry Rosè and I am so glad I did! The beet flavor wasn’t over powering and you could definitely taste the other two flavors. Can’t wait to go back and try more flavors! Also amazing customer service and they let you try all the flavors!
This place is so good. I'm so happy there is ice cream that lactose intolerant people can eat. The flavors of ice cream are so rich, I could hardly tell there was no real milk. I love that the cones are gluten free too. Yum!
Oh yea! This is a really good ice cream joint! Everything is vegan there, made from coconut or a cashew base. Lots of options, super creamy, and everything is labeled for their allegens (What a concept!). Cost is pretty high, about $10 for two-scoop and gluten free cone... But honestly, anywhere that has non-dairy options other than raspberry or lemon... Bring it on at any cost! The other downside is parking, its street parking in a pretty hip area... We lucked into a spot on a Sunday for a full-size truck. On a weekday... Fo'geta'bout'it!
This place might actually have the best ice cream I have ever had. I can't think of anything that even comes close. Even the waffle cones, fresh made in the store, are absolutely delicious and a must get to accompany a nice scoop of any of their amazing rotating, or standard flavors.
Creative non-dairy ice-cream place. Had ice-cream made from sweet potatoes and it was phenomenally good! I eat dairy as well as non-dairy desserts and love both. This was top-notch. They encouraged me to sample flavors I was curious about.
Can't get enough of this place! Absolutely love the gingered golden milk!! The flavors sound odd but are absolutely amazing and the staff will let you try a little before commiting to a whole scoop. Have a pretty bad dairy allergy and have never had an issue here :)
😍 So happy we left the line at Salt & Straw to come here!
The flavors are super creative, I love how transparent & allergy-friendly they are (all ice cream ingredients are listed) & I was surprised how affordable the prices were compared to S&S - I'm so used to being charged extra for vegan items when the cost of plant-based ingredients is clearly cheaper than conventional.
Take note if you're coming with a large group: the shop is tiny, with seating for 5 inside & a bench outside.
Vanilla ice cream with waffle cone - 5/5
Black forest ice cream - 4/5
Best ice-cream and honestly better than the dairy ice-cream in the same neighborhood. I always am excited for the seasonal flavors to come out! My favorite non seasonal are the jamocha Chaga fudge and the mint chocolate chip brownie. Don’t forget to get the oat flour cone! It’s so filling and is more nutty than sweet - pairs well with the sweeter flavors and balances it out
The best dairy free ice cream I've ever had in my life. I used to go to a place in Redmond but they started to always carry gross seasonal flavors for non dairy. This place is the best and I never regret going, aside from that one time the older lady with short hair was super rude, broke my entire cone, laughed about it then still charged me for the cone even tho it was in several pieces. Sheesh!
Unique, delicious vegan ice cream!
Great vegan ice cream! The flavors are all unique and delicious. The staff is always very friendly and helpful.
Probably the best ice cream shop I've ever been to and I'm not even vegan. Whenever I'm in Seattle it's hard not to stop by Frankie and Jo's. Amazing ice cream and you have to opt in for the waffle cone it's not your ordinary cone.
ALWAYS a good idea! Whether your vegan or not, make sure you visit this spot. It will not disappoint! In fact you will probably leave better than you came haha since this ice cream doesn’t leave you feeling “groggy”. It’s a healthier version of ice cream that definitely doesn’t lack any flavor. The flavors change up every month so it makes you want to come back for more. If your on a low sugar diet you can opt for their flavors sweetened by dates. One of my staple faves is Tahini chocolate and that moon goo!! Make sure to stop by!
Amazing, super delicious all-vegan ice cream! Staff was really nice, explained all the different flavors and gave us some tastings. Highly recommend it!
Delicious ice cream, better than any dairy place I can remember. They're all made from a sprouted cashew and coconut base, extremely smooth and a great variety of flavors. I'd never miss dairy ice cream at all with this place.
I was initially scared by the idea of "vegan" ice cream because soy-stuff scares me. This is NOT that at all. This stuff is amazing. I kept it simple and got a single scoop of Chocolate ice cream made with coconut milk and sweetened with dates. I could have eaten a pint. It was delicious and I can't wait to go back for more. Worth every penny, and calorie.
For someone who has food allergies, this is an incredibly freeing place to visit. And as someone who had a life before allergies, I can say that this is really. good. ice cream. (not merely best-in-class "free from" ice cream).
Gingered Golden Milk and California Cabin are my perennial favorites, but don't miss the amazing rotating flavors. Finally, I can't close a review without a word about the great team working there - the atmosphere inside the store is always sunny and calm, even when the place is packed.
When ice cream that is dairy free excels beyond regular dairy ice cream... well it's something to talk about! Great space. Amazing flavors. The ice cream was sooo good.
Our son has an epi-pen dairy allergy, so the fact that he could choose from any flavor was the best.
Love this place! We'll be regulars.
Super yummy! Some of the best vegan ice cream I’ve had.
Pretty good ice cream but I’m not the best fan of the flavors. The people I want with enjoyed it, although you do notice that it is clearly not comparable to real ice cream
Listen, Frankie & Jo’s is the best ice cream in the PNW hands down, no argument. And it’s vegan! And they’re open late! You gotta try the strawberry beet sorbet and the chocolate tahini and the California cabin - plus they always have the best seasonal flavors. Super cute shop too. Chic! Great for Instagram photos!
Oh man. Dear Frankie & Jo’s, please open another shop in Tacoma or Olympia. I would be there every day.
Love this place! It's amazing if have good allergies. I am actually able to get ice cream and an ice cream cone like everyone else. Plus it tastes absolutely delicious 😍 …
Delicious variety of unique flavors- all plant based ice cream!! Plus, the staff has been super friendly each time I've visited. They seem happy to be there :) Well, I'm happy you're there too! Thanks!
Organic
Dairy free
Soy free
Gluten free
Unique and delicious flavors
Creamy
Pleasant staff
Samples encouraged
Enough street parking around
What more would you want? Nothing! So what are you waiting for, just go try it. The moment you open the door your nose will convince you that you made the right choice. After you try it, you won't want to go anywhere else for ice cream. Talk about guilt free dessert!
My favorite is the chocolate mint brownie or the ginger ice cream .
Don't think I'm saying anything that hasn't already been said: this is really good ice cream. The two flavors we've tried (supercookie and mint) were delicious.
Amazing vegan ice cream, great if you can't handle dairy, or if you're avoiding animal products. And the flavors are so unique and creative, not to mention delicious.
Amazing non-dairy ice cream with a variety of flavors and options that everyone can enjoy. Had the seasonal roasted banana super cookie and the ginger golden milk. Great combination and so yummy.
The standard: Blue Bird and Trove
Good enough: Salt and Straw
Desperate: Molly Moon
Irrelevant: Old School
Best ice cream in the city. Don’t be swayed by the type of ingredients, but pay attention to the quality instead.
All the Trees, Heirloom Caramel Corn....so good. Don’t neglect the moon sauce.
Fantastic space and customer service.
This ice cream is so unique! I love it. You can't even tell it's plant based. I absolutely love how you can indulge without feeling weighed down afterwards!
Ice cream for the intolerant and vegan!
I am lactose intolerant but love ice cream and usually eat it anyway with no regards to the repurcussions. no can enjoy ice cream without the irritable bowel on top and also start my vegan diet but enjoy the simple comforts of fatty foods. What a time to be alive.
Dairy free, gluten free ice cream heaven! Fabulous flavors and textures that do melt quickly on a 90 degree day. Will return again and again. Sorry cows, my ice cream favorite is vegan now.
The best vegan ice cream i have ever had!
Amazingly rich vegan ice cream. The texture is on point and not too sweet. The waffle cone tasted like digestif cookies! Loved the variety of flavours too.
Often a line outside for good reason, other than the fact that this place is small. Proof that vegan ice cream can be as good if not better than dairy.
Hands down the BEST flavor for our family was Frankie and Jos brown sugar vanilla ice cream with waffle cone!!! We also tried the rose beet juice sorbet and the Cali. :)
Instagram-able little shop with different varieties of unique flavors including date based ice cream. Wish they had basic plain flavors. A little pricey and not much seating.
One of the best icecream i have had from an icecream shop. The taste is so unique and rich that it stays in my mouth for days. I was not expecting this experience as previously other icecream shops experience was disappointing. This is definitely my goto place for icecream any day.
Amazing icecream! And the service is excellent, the ladies working here are so helpful with answering all of your questions as well as letting you sample flavors before picking which one you'd like! The mint brownie is to die for!
You can't even tell that the ice cream is vegan! It's just as creamy and flavorful as its dairy counterpart. The selection of flavors was great and the portion sizes are generous.
If you love ice cream but can’t eat all the best things (gluten, dairy, even cane sugar) this place is for you. Even if you can eat those things Frankie & Jo’s is amazing. Try their Jamocha Chaga Fudge with the gluten free waffle cone. Yum!
This ice cream is so tasty that it is hard to imagine it is vegan. They serve variety of flavors that are sensitive to numerous for allergies and even have gluten free cones.
Some of the best ice cream (not just vegan) I have ever tasted in my life. Very unique flavors with new, monthly specials.
Great ice cream. You almost cannot tell that it is vegan. Great for folks with dietary restrictions. For those on Autoimmune Paleo (AIP) protocol, you can have date shake and chocolate date flavors.
My cousin and I were casually walking around Seattle when we walked by this super cute ice cream shop. I usually can't eat ice cream because of my sensitive stomach so let me tell you how excited I was to learn all their ice cream is PLANT BASED!! No dairy at all!! The Salted Caramel Ash was BOMB!! 😍 …
Amazing ice cream, staff, and experience. Everything is vegan and gluten free if that is important to you, but if not just go and enjoy the excellent ice cream made in novel, delicious flavors.
My favorite ice cream place. Really cool flavors that you can't get anywhere else and vegan! You'd never know if they didn't tell you.
As a non-vegan I prefer coming here to get ice cream. The salted caramel Ash is always in my cone, but some of the specials give it a run for it's money. Highly recommeded, vegan or not.
Love this place. I am allergic to gluten, dairy, and nuts, and they still have amazing options that I can eat. Today I had the chocolate date shake in the gluten free cone. Delicious.
Yummy! All egan ice cream menu. I'm not vegan but this place is delicious. Their flavors are so unique. There's really nothing to compare it to.
Great vegan and gluten free ice-cream shop! Amazing flavors and textures. One of the best alternative ice cream I've ever tasted.
I was skeptical when I kept hearing friends rave about this place but finally tried it. And then kept going back again and again. Their recipes have perfected the mouth feel and flavors of plant based ice cream. It is my top choice when going out for ice cream in Seattle.
Very nice staff! I don't think I could tell it was dairy free ice cream. It is pretty much comparable to any craft ice cream in Seattle (in taste and a little more in price).
Frankie & Jo is very interesting vegan gelateria. Although dairy based gelato is my favorite, this is a true match. Their gelato is creamy, flavorful, bold and surpring.
I had several of their seasonal flavors as well as their regular. Salty caramel Ash, tahini chocolate, almond butter kale, California cabin where definitely remarkable.
Best vegan ice cream you will find anywhere. Wonderful and innovative flavors will leave you wanting more. Friendly staff that sling the goods. Must stop if you are in Seattle.
Best non-dairy ice cream I’ve ever tasted. Rich and creamy, it tastes like real ice cream! Great flavors too, like mint chocolate brownie and salted caramel ash.
Morgan.. maybe Megan, was a very nice and welcoming individual. Happy to let us try samples and find our favorite flavor. Also, the aesthetics are on point. Wished my house could looked that cool. Definitely our new ice cream shop. Wished I lived closer. Haha
LITERALLY the best ice cream I've ever had AND it doesn't make my stomach hurt after(especially late night 🌃) and every person that works there is super kind. It gets busy towards the weekend but is kind of always on a constant flow so get there early if you have plans to do something after! …
Lack of space and organization leaves something to be desired. Often busy so that doesn't help. Didn't feel like I had the time or space to sample flavors. Points for style and creativity. Extra points for vegan and GF. Although my simple palette didn't appreciate any of the flavors as much as I would a cookies n cream or classic vanilla. Can you have a couple more standard options?
Fresh, inventive, and delicious. I love taking friends and family here and seeing their reactions that dairy free / vegan icecream can be incredibly good. Hands down my favorite icecream- I wish there were locations on the east coast <3
Had a scoop of Black Forest Cake seasonal ice cream and pretty much had a transcendent experience eating it. Frankie & Jo's is so amazing!!!
The best vegan ice cream I've ever had 😍. Especially appreciate the delicious handmade gluten free waffle cones available! …
ATTENTION LACTOSE INTOLERANT PPL: This is really good nut milk ice cream. Pricey but oh so delicious. I had the salted caramel and California Cabin and my gf had the excellent vanilla and Date Shake, all of which were superb. Also, the staff was very charming and friendly.
Really really good and rich. Not to mention easy on the body. The vanilla is really nice as well as the log cabin. I wont buy any other ice cream because of the health and animal welfare issues w dairy.
I love their flavors🍦! It’s the healthiest ice cream I’ve ever had. I always feel so good after I eat it!😊 Plus, my cousin works there which is AWESOME! …
Great ice cream and awesome vegan options available!
Love it! The smell of the greshly made waffle cones starts your journey of delectable homemade ice creams. Some funky flavors, but the helpers are delighted to give a sample for the right choice.
IDK how they get it to be so creamy, but damn is it delicious. Being celiac, I rarely get to have ice cream cones. Their waffle cones are delicious, almost like snickerdoodles. 100% recommend.
Our family found an ice cream store where we can eat safe, tasty ice cream! We have may allergies and appreciate that the ingredients are posted for everything. It was also nice that all the waste can be composted.
Great vegan ice cream. The sweetness on each flavor varies widely so make sure you try them before ordering
Delicious vegan ice cream, and you won't regret the lack of milk. The flavor combinations also make the trip into Seattle worth it!
Really liked this place. Love how they make it right in front of you and you can see that the ingredients for us were fruit and cream. Very friendly staff, as well.
Such a treat. I'm mildly lactose intolerant. It's so nice to have a place that has all the richness of ice cream without the negative effects. Wish they'd do soft serve (despite the fact that they think the machine is ugly 😂😂😂). …
Best ice cream.
Great flavors, don't be put off by the dietary elements if you're a meat heathen like myself. Nice service and a good hangout spot. Pricing is pretty insane at $5 for a half scoop though, so be prepared for a little sticker shock. Nice spot though.
Best best ice cream joint in all of Seattle. They have seasonal flavors that are always delicious and the staff is very friendly. The activated charcoal is a go to!
Get the mint!
I'm not vegan and loved their ice creams- great flavors and texture! Also has gluten free waffle cones to die for.
Delicious selection, but the line is a bit too much. If you come here expect to wait in line at least 30 minutes. Also people love taking picture in the mural so they linger making the store more crowded. I love the icecream well worth the wait.
I go here way too often, their ice cream (and cones) are delicious! Very unique flavors, and the texture of the ice cream is slightly different and way better than regular ice cream.
I love ice cream with dairy in it and loved this ice cream just as much. Wife and baby both have dairy allergies/lactose issues so was great to be able to take them out for ice cream and not worry.
We stopped by here for some dessert last week, having heard it was good stuff. It was. Very good stuff. Rich and creamy with a very original variety of flavors. Prices aren't bad either, for the quality and quantity. We'll be back for sure.
The quality of ice cream here is absolutely stunning, considering it's totally plant-based. The crown, for me, still belongs to Mora ice cream out of Bainbridge, but this is a fairly close second, and that's pretty impressive.
My 16-year old, who is allergic to dairy, rejoiced in her first “ice cream “ here. I could not tell the difference between vegan and real cream because of the unique and fantastic flavors.
Love it! Best diary-free ice cream anywhere. There are many different and unique choices. There are a lot of cheaper options but none better tasting.
Tried the Salty carmal ash, it was so good. I do not seek out plant based ice cream, but my wife has some diet restrictions so we went. It was so good.
Take it from a non-vegan, I don't know when I last had ice cream this good! Definitely worth a visit
Delicious vegan ice creams! Never had a bad experience or a flavor that was any less than great!
Amazing ice cream-Love going back and trying their rotating seasonal flavors! Super accommodating and friendly staff, and very knowledgeable about the product and allergy needs! Must go to if you’re in Cap Hill!
I absolutely looooove Frankie and Jo’s! I live in Florida and was visiting Seattle for a few weeks and went back almost everyday to try more flavors!! I loved everyone I tried but I’m so glad they’ve kept the chocolate tahini super cookie because that was my favorite!!!
I usually don't like vegan ice cream but this was good. The black charcoal something flavor was pretty good.
The best, most creative vegan ice cream I've ever had. Always innovating with monthly flavors and such a nice, friendly staff!
I'm not vegan. I've never been vegan. The vegan ice cream here has a variety of interesting and classic flavors, and I would recommend it to anyone.
This is Seattle at its finest, with corresponding idiosyncrasies. Creative, delicious, friendly, cute, and trend-setting, but crowded, cramped, expensive, and poorly labelled. I still am amazed by their gluten-free waffle cones. And I think they should consider putting a touch of green coloration in their mint flavored stuff. Spirulina and a touch of turmeric, maybe?
Gluten free EVERYTHING including cones! Really creative flavors and friendly staff. Everything I’ve tried is A+ 🍦 …
Nice ice cream, awesome waffle cones! And they have a few seasonal flavours that change each month
Delicious! I particularly liked the gluten free waffle cone.
I have celiac disease and hadn't eaten a waffle cone in 17 years when I walked into Frankie and Jo's. The gf waffle cones were fresh off the griddle, and then the Supercookie ice cream was delicious. I will definitely be back for more
This place was all the rave when we moved here, so I thought I would try it out. In my opinion it was below average for ice cream and service. There’s definitely better places out there.
Ice cream so good you won't care if it's vegan! And the waffle cones are nearly worth the trip alone.
This place is awesome and our server was so kind! She let us try everything! The last time I tried vegan ice cream, it was an underwhelming experience. This changed all that!
As a non-vegan I still enjoy this place. It's ice cream flavors are unique, but be warned, try the flavors before you choose one!
Good, but, honestly, whole milk ice cream is still creamier, and regular waffle cones don't have the weird grainy texture as gluten free.
My partner and I visited Frankie & Jo's today (our first visit!). The staff was so helpful and kind, letting us sample more than our fair share. ;) We settled on California Cabin + Chocolate Tahini Supercookie w/ a waffle cone – DELISH! Will definitely be back!
I have been looking for a nondairy ice cream that doesn’t suck. I recommend this place to everyone, especially for those that have issues with dairy. If you have a nut and dairy allergy I send my condolences. This place is awesome.
OMG vegan dessert paradise! All are non-dairy ice cream, creamy and flavorful. The have waffle cones too. Go treat yo'self!
Best ice-cream I had in a while. Would never have guessed that it is plant based.
If you are not a vegan, you will be surprised at how good this plant based ice cream is. If you are a vegan you will be in ice cream heaven. The vanilla is incredible.
Plant based ice "cream " is not supposed to be better than the "real" thing. Well, it is here, and I'm taking into account the ice cream joints that can currently be found all over the Hill. Not just for vegans and the lactose intolerant.
This is my favorite plant based ice-cream ever (so much better than Full Tilt). The Capitol Hill location usually has a line out the door but the wait is worth it!
Best vegan ice cream by far! Yummy flavors and gluten free waffle cones too.
I love, love love Frankie and Jo's! Their flavors are wonderful, albeit super weird at times, this location is incredibly clean and visually lovely, and the servers have all been consistently fantastic. I love coming here!
my go to spot for dairy-free ice cream. texture is great with a variety of flavors and 3 new flavors each month
Stumbled upon this place while eating ice cream from elsewhere, and as a GF/DF chick, I had to try (don't judge). Great ice cream (5 stars to chocolate date) and so fun to eat a cone for once.
Moon Goo! So good! The flavors are so unique. Must try for any who visits or lives in Seattle for a sweet treat, but a healthier option.
Nice shop, great signage, chill atmosphere. All of their flavors are ridiculously delicious. Labels clearly mark flavors with tree nuts, coconut, and cane sugar. Cozy size.
Veganisimo. They make their ice cream TOO sweet compared to others
Great Surprise at the quality of the dairy free ice cream. It was delicious and if you are experimental they have some unique flavors.
Innovative flavors, fresh waffle cones, the perfect treat.
Cute ice-cream spot in Capitol Hill. Fun space for the young and young at heart who wants to enjoy tasty plant-based ice-cream. Awesome wall for cute selfie with friends and family. My fav ice-cream favor, salty caramel.
OMG! Vegan heaven. You MUST try the Tahini Chocolate! Mind blown. Located right across the street from Sizzle Pie, so that's two courses of vegan awesomeness right there.
I don't think it is worth the long line and high prices. it was $7.70 for a single scoop in a cone. The ice cream is good don't get me wrong, but not worth the price of a meal.
Perfect ice cream for all occasions. Tell your mom. She'll think so too.
Best vegan ice cream. I love that I can go out for a gluten free, cane sugar free treat!
Best vegan ice cream I've ever had.
I won't go back here unless I'm with somebody vegan. The ice cream wasn't terrible, but it wasn't good. Plus, the place smelled like old cereal and had very limited seating.
Best damn vegan Ice cream period! No doubt about it. I would eat here everyday if i didn’t lie in another state.
The best ice cream on earth.
I don't mean that as hyperbole. Simply a fact. Whether on a cone, in a tub at home or catering a wedding, it's just the best.
Very cute shop, delicious flavors And VEGAN ... Score!
I had the Brown Sugar Vanilla and it was so decadent!
Weird names for flavors. Good vegan ice cream. Cones are okay. Moon goo is good but very sticky.
Been here a quite a few times now and it is quite exciting. The flavors have all been really good, and I have probably tasted them all at this point. It is a little expensive, but no more than other fancy/healthy places.
Best (Vegan) ice cream in town! They have changing, seasonal flavors that are always surprisingly fantastic.
Most unique flavors I've ever had. Really good cones, fun place to go for some awesome ice cream
The best planted based ice cream you could ever imagine. We choose this over regular dairy ice cream and we're not vegan.
It is %100 vegan icecream and yummy! You must visit if you are vegan person and you are icecream lover, you must visit it regardless being a vegan person like me.
My all time favorite, you must try the chocolate Tahini I keep coming back for it
Fabulous plant based ice cream! And three regular flavors sweetened with dates, coconut sugar, and maple syrup!
Go here! Eat ice cream! You will not be disappointed if you have a soul. If you don't have a soul you may grow one upon ingesting their elixir of sweet deliciousness.
It’s been more than a decade since I’ve had a waffle cone and their gluten-free cones made my birthday treat amazing! Thank you!
The vanilla is a little strange, but so delicious. Had a cone and came back for a pint to take home. This is a niche that Molly Moon needn't attempt. Definitely an "adult" treat.
So fresh and the taste from organic ingredient are so pure. Very nice.
I love that it’s a dairy free dessert spot! The mint ice cream did it for me ❤️
Great flavors, great texture! I highly recommend beat strawberry rose and be sure to try their gluten-free cones!
Favourite ice cream place on Capitol Hill. Flavours are good, and the store itself is very trendy and tropical.
Unique, delicious flavors. I'm lactose-intolerant, so it was nice to eat two scoops of ice cream without fear.
Unique, flavorful, and delicious vegan ice cream that melts in your mouth-soul. What more could you ask for? 😋 …
Slaps, every single flavor is delicious. The cone? Even better. 10/10
Great vegan ice cream. Unusual flavors, but not so unusual that it seems as if they're trying too hard.
Amazing! Best vegan ice cream ever and such a friendly helpful women at the counter
Never challenge an employee to an arm wrestling contest. The ash salted caramel is my favourite. Sure it looks like cement, but it melts my heart every time.
Tasty ice cream for gluten free and vegan options. Great service too
Great vegan ice cream- had the Tahini Chocolate Cookie dough- it was great?!
To be frank, it was delicious!... small space in the area, but other than that, tasty ice cream. Warm chocolate cone was extra nice!
Delicious vegan ice cream. Probably my favorite ice cream place regardless of vegan or not.
Mint chocolate was disappointing but I always get the strawberry rose beets and the ash one! I am so addicted...!
