8/3/22 Visit: Stroll down memory lane for anyone from Ogden. I forgot how historical and warm this place is. The remodel added a lot of indoor seating and room for historical pieces. Delicious ice cream and so many options!

What a lovely date spot. They have an inside seating area that is reminiscent of an old 50s diner. The ice cream is delicious but beware, they give you a lot!

I can see why they have been in business for 100 years! This ice cream was very creamy and the selection was massive, which made it difficult to choose. I normally go with chocolate or coffee, but went away from the norm and went with Huckleberry. I was not disappointed but I’m sure whatever you select will be amazing!

I have never been to the shop, but we always bought Farr Better Play Dough ice cream at the grocery store. It's my favorite flavor of ice cream. I only wish I could find it in Oregon, too! Whenever I visit family in Utah, I always have to grab some play dough ice cream.

Soooo good. I'm so happy my family and I came upon this place. I loved the neon sign and the brick building. Gave it a vintage feel. Farr is my youngest son's favorite ice cream, and after tonight, I can see why. It was such a treat. The staff were super helpful and gave us all the taste testers we wanted. Initially, It was hard to choose, but I ended up enjoying myself some cakebatter icecream with a sugar cone. I'm very much looking forward to our next visit.

The staff was very friendly and the ice cream was delicious! We're enjoyed reading signs and learning about the history of Farr Ice Cream. It was very cool! We had cherry chip, licorice (my favorite), bear claw, caramel caribou, cookies & cream, and mint chocolate chip - all on waffle cones. Delicious!

A wonderful selection of ice cream flavors. The lemon ice cream is still my number one fave. I have been a customer since I was very small. I always remember how special it was when my parents would bring my siblings and I. This is hands down the best ice cream- ANYWHERE!!!

The one thing I was anticipating as I drove to Utah from my home near the Canadian boarder, was my stop to Farr's ice cream for my favorite green pineapple ice cream. Excuse me? You are out and haven't had any in quite a while? So I called the factory to get to the bottom of this. They said that they simply can't keep up with ice cream demand in Utah over the past year. I understand their situation, so I say this, Utah slow down on the ice cream consumption! I need my green pineapple fix. Farr's you would have received 5 stars but my craving remains.

100 years this year and delicious ice cream!!! I had a scoop of the grasshopper and it tasted like frozen girl scout thing mints. So good. The shop itself is very nice. When you go inside don't stop at the walk up counter, but go up the steps and there is an old fashioned soda fountain with stools. There are also tables and interesting memorabilia. The going men that helped served us were very nice and helpful. Definitely going back the next time I'm in Ogden.

The ice cream is great if you can brave the evening crowd. Service is usually excellent, I knocked off a star because of some immature teen workers that were pulling pranks and yelling at each other rather than helping tend to the large number of customers.

Absolutely love this place! It was one of the first places I tried when moving here to Ogden and We keep going back to this place. The atmosphere is pretty cool but the ice cream is definitely worth the drive. I have not had a bad flavor and they have such a variety definitely a place to check out. Absolutely historic landmark in Ogden, Utah!!! My dad, who was born in 1936, went here as a child. Every time I visit, I have a double cone of lemon and black walnut in honor of him, and it never disappoints! I ALWAYS stop here when I am visiting or passing through- it is legendary!

Excellent ice cream, excellent service, a summer evening... Things don't get much more Zen than that. Established in 1920, Farr's is a northern Utah institution that deserves much wider recognition. I tried the two ice cream flavors I use to judge all ice cream parlors: peanut butter/chocolate and pralines & cream. The pralines & cream is world class. Up there with the absolute beat ice cream I've had anywhere in the United States, and I assure you: that is saying something. The peanut butter and chocolate gets a 4 out of 5 stars from me as I do prefer my chocolate far darker than this milk varietal. It was still quite good, though, and the peanut butter was perfect: just the right amount of salt balancing the sweetness of the cocoa. If you're in or near Ogden,UT, Farr (Better) Ice Cream needs to be on your list. Yes.

Excellent ice cream......decent line but workers got all guests through in a timely fashion. Will go back to sample multiple other flavors. Love the banana nut. Kids liked the chocolate marshmallow and burnt chocolate fudge. Size of cone is big. If you get a 3 scooper bring your appetite.

The two culinary requirements when visiting family in Utah are the Burger Bar and Farr's Ice Cream. Expect a line out the door but not a long wait. There are two levels with indoor and outdoor seating. The bottom does ice cream and the top does floats and drinks as well. The portions are huge and one scoop will be enough for dessert after a meal... or what I like to do... Skip dinner entirely and get 2 or three scoops. They are meals. Bring your Beano if you must for processing dairy, though they also have great Sherberts and sorbet. Shout out to Jeff, who is 60 ane eating a "double scoop" (which was actually 5 scoops) of Lime Rickey sorbet in the picture.

Best ice cream in the area with tons of flavors to choose from. Indoor and outdoor seating located across from the Ogden Temple and within walking distance of The Junction

There were so many delicious options to choose from we were a little overwhelmed on our first visit. I wasn't sure where to go for what. They have ice cream, shakes, sodas, shaved ice and more. We loved every flavor we tried and the service was friendly. We will come again fir sure. There was quite a line that took a minute but that's understandable because they are such a popular place.

Servings are much bigger than Baskin Robbins, for example. So many different flavors than you find at other ice cream establishments. Black licorice, fire stick (cinnamon) Root beer, and plenty of fun combinations. Sherbets available. Sugar free. They have scratch and dent containers for a discounted price. They also carry a variety pack of bottled root beers that makes a great gift. Indoor and outdoor seating available.

Classic location of the best ice cream South of Logan. Lots of flavor diversity, classic shop looks and feel. Marvelous taste and ingredients. I haven't used the other parts of the complex, but I am happy that it's still a thing and hasn't been swallowed up by the downtown rebuild. Farr deserves to have it's place.

It was a step back in time! I got to see what an ice cream shop would have looked like in The Roaring Twenties! The Ice cream was supreme and there was at least twenty flavors! The waffle cones have a perfect crunch and the genuine flavors leave you satisfied. I hope that it stays this same way forever! The atmosphere of this shop is relaxing and sparks my interest. Farr's has the vibe of a small town get ice-cream shop, but is easy to reach and convenient like any food joint should be. It's a well kept secret! I thoroughly enjoyed Farr's

Historically awesome ice cream! There are so many memories surrounding this red brick building with the giant neon "Farr" sign. It is a gathering place to conclude nearby church meetings, weddings, etc. Now I see younger families stopping by with the same wide eyed wonder and expectation. There's a quality product in Farr's Ice Cream to be sure, but it's real magic is the place- full of memories invested over decades or just beginning.

The atmosphere is so fun! As you enter the doors, you take a step back in time to when the Beatles were still playing at the Cavern Club, to when George and Loraine McFly first got together, and to when Humphrey Bogart took Katherine Hepburn down the river on the African Queen. The sweet smell of ice cream in the entrance brings out the little child in everyone who enters therein. The old soda counter continues to bring bubbles of joy to young and old alike. The classic decorations that hang upon the walls remind the visitor that they are just one of many generations of people who have visited the timeless ice cream parlour for a cool, sweet treat. The kind, effective service of those behind the counters exhibits a forgotten sort of assistance in keeping with the old building they work within. The ice cream and waffle cones are delightful and are sure to satisfy all from the Playdough-loving kids to the Pralines-and-Cream-gobbling grandparents. One of the top 5 ice cream shops I've ever visited and is certainly worth a stop and your business.

The nostalgia of Farr's never gets old. My dad worked at Farr's as a teen and instilled in all of us 6 kids, 35 grandkids and I don't know how many great grandkids the love of Farr's ice cream. Our family reunion is held in West Point Utah every summer and everyone knows at the end of the day after the reunion, we'll be making a stop at Farr's. This year Farr's is celebrating it's 100 year anniversary. They have T-shirts, Hoodies, Golf Shirts and more to commemorate this special occasion. I hope to be around many more years to enjoy Farr Better ice cream from the original Ogden Utah location.

This is a great place in downtown Ogden to get some good ice cream. They have many flavors and generous size scoops of ice cream. I would have given 5 stars, but they stopped making their ice cream cake roll and I am still a little bitter about that. The staff is friendly and quick. There are generally lines waiting out the door for ice cream, so be patient it is worth the wait.

These guys have great ice cream but today's flavor took the cake. I ordered root beer. I've had root beer ice cream before and usually it tastes like vanilla ice cream that someone who drank root beer has breathed on heavily. But this was like eating root beer if root beer was made solid. It had enough kick to make me feel like I was experiencing the whole root beer flavor. It was perfect and exactly what I want from root beer ice cream.

Very nice! Nostalgic ice cream shop with many of the old style designs. Ice cream is awesome! Staff very friendly. Love that they have old American puzzles to purchase. My daughter loves these. My only complaint was its not very handicapped accessible. You can get in to the lower level on a flat level but to get to the adorable ice cream shop, there are steps. Luckily for us, the railing was strong enough for my mother to use and we carried her walker up the few steps. Otherwise, outstanding!

Holy smokes this place is like stepping stepping back into the 1940s! The history with this original place is awesome starting off selling ice blocks and then adding amazing ice cream flavors! They normally have 75 on had and have made over 600 since making ice cream back in 1929. If you are within driving distance...you must stop by and get a scoop! Lots of parking and lots of delicious ice cream that they scoop and turn into milk shakes

Decent ice cream. The "scoops" are large, they aren't actually a single scoop, but the single scoop portion is probably sufficient for a single person and it'll run you about $4; the single scoop seems a little over priced to me, but if you get a double or triple (which are each about a dollar more) and share it with 1 or 2 others, then it becomes a more reasonable deal. Lots of interesting flavors, their cake batter might be my favorite, or maybe bear claw, but they've got a lot of good ones. If you don't need one of the exotic flavors and prefer custard style ice cream, I'd go to Freddy's, a little to the north, for about the same price (they have a brownie sundae that'll put you into a sugar coma).

Had many an ice cream cone at Farr's. But they have also have a commercial side to the business. If you need bulk Ice cream or Dry Ice this is the place to go. They have Ice cream disks in single serve packages it will feed 1 adult or 2 kids easily. These things are the bomb for large church group, family reunions and parties. Farr's will box then up and pack them in dry ice. they stay frozen for hours. My go to place for big group ice cream

I got my favorite flavor, playdough. It tastes nothing like playdough though! Just the primary colors and consistency remind you of the childhood favorite. It was packed, but moved along quickly with their ticket system and we were able to get our ice cream and get out on a timely manner. I highly recommend trying any of their flavors, they're all incredible!

The iced cream is what I walked in here for. It was excellent. It looks like such a small shop. I didn't realize they have so much inside. They sell iced cream, candy, mugs, and so much more. Farr better ice cream is still celebrating its 100th year - est. 1920! (Pandemic 2020 kind of stifled the occasion last year) No better time than now 2021 to visit and taste the absolute best ice cream in Utah. They have a ton of memorabilia to commemorate the occasion as well. The place is iconic -inside you'll find a place to order ice cream in a cone or cup, up a few stairs there is a bar where you can order up shakes, malts, banana splits, or sundaes. But for diabetics like myself they have no added sugar ice cream and it's moose tracks! So you're looking at probably 5-12 grams of sugar total for a scoop or two of no added sugar moose tracks. (Not bad - and it tastes fantastic) If you're a local or just visiting don't miss out on this wonderful place.

Always great customer service. There is typically a wait when you are wanting ice cream, but with a popular establishment such as this, it is to be expected. Good prices, great old fashioned atmosphere and the quality of their ice cream is great. Great place to go for an outing if your visiting from Utah. They were established in 1920 and the parlor definitely has a nostalgic feeling. One of the best ice cream establishments in town. Worth a visit!

I love ice cream and compared to some of the other connoisseur spots I have been to, the ice cream selection, while extensive, tasted like different shades of sugar rather than following the attached names (i know some people will roll their eyes to such a critique, yet I just want to save someone from ordering a pistachio only to taste a variety or lime. let's also consider I am giving this place five stars because I recognize most of us don't visit an ice cream parlor to dive into a tastebuds experience. it is, again, a great place to hang out and socialize with others and just have fun.)

Great experience, and love the history of the place, coming from out of state we had no idea about this company, but saw the hugh neon sign on the way to Wendy's for a frosty, it was a late night so just missed it, but came back. Had a line out the door that moved at a good pace. On par with Baskin Robbins and would buy their product if it was sold in our local store. The only things that could improve it for me was I wasn't able to look at the flavors in person, just read off the flavors from the board and placed an order soon after entering the door. It's efficient, but would have liked to walk the counter and made a selection, also we collect magnets from road trips and the one offered is much too large a small one like the phone pop holder is what we are going to put a magnet on.

The ice cream shop is like a1950s mom and pop diner atmosphere. I've often gone when there was a crowd, but they are fast and efficient getting orders completed while not causing customers to feel rushed. The hardest part is deciding which of the plethora of options to have (they do offer spoonful samples if you're still undecided). Their homemade waffle cones are superb as well in addition to their other ice cream parlor creations.

Farr's is up there to Cold Stone for me but I like this place because they have so much sitting space and they have this awesome side area you can sit at. They carry an absurd amount of different ice cream flavors making it very hard to decide but that is not a bad thing! Farrs Ice Cream is really busy on the weekends but they have the best system to get people in and out of the place if you are looking to leave and take your ice cream off site.

Let me begin by praising the atmosphere, as well as the flavours. This place feels like a step back in time: classic 1950's decor, large portions, and even old school sweets behind the counter. The ice cream and cones are the best I have had in the U.S., bar none. And the variety means something new to try every time! When my son and I have a hard workout, this is our special occasion treat! Having said all that, there are issues. The shop is tiny, and really doesn't have room for more than maybe 16 people to sit. And given its popularity, that means often trying to eat standing up, or in the car. This is not easy when your ice cream gives in to its inner nature and drips everywhere. The other issue is no public restrooms. Especially with a place catering to families, this doesn't seem right. Finally, I usually spend close to $10.00 for just two cones for me and my son. For what is a dessert, this seems kind of pricy. But in spite of the negatives, we still come here about once a month, as the ice cream is truly that good!

Ice cream was very good. Portions are huge. Most of the staff was friendly. Theu waved at us as we came in and said goodbye. The lady who was helping us though didn't seem like she wanted to be there and when we asked her a question she had headphones in while cleaning. It was right before they closed so I understand tired staff but if you still have clients headphones shouldn't be in. Again most of the staff was very friendly and helpful in answering mine and another customers questions.

I love going to Farrs, its a good priced family friendly place to sit down and enjoy some amazing ice cream. I love to go there with my friends on weekends. Its a step back into yesterday to taste the ice cream of tomorrow. And they have a great value deal called the scratch and dent wich is a missed flavor or a off batch for a huge discount ! 😁

Love the double service counter in farr's... makes it way faster for sure... Still wish people that frequent farr's were a lot more courteous...but can't control people's demeanor. If you haven't been to Farrs lately you have to check it out. This place no longer has only one tiny area to order ice-cream that it is way overcrowded. They have added 2 additional counters and lots of new tasty treats like shaved ice and milk shakes. We tried the shaved ice and loved it. There are countless flavors and they also have several flavors of smoothies. Give it a try.

I grew up coming to Farr's but moved away eventually. I am only able to come here once every few years now. The ice cream is just as great as I remember. I got my traditional black licorice and root beer. What a treat! It's been remodeled since I was here last and now has a fun retro soda fountain upstairs. I hope to come back soon!

Good ice cream, I had the pistachio nut. It felt kind of awkward inside however. They had no music playing so you could hear all the conversations around you, and made me feel awkward that they might also hear mine. Most importantly though is the ice cream is great and its def a bang for your buck compared to chain ice cream shops.

I didn’t know this and waited in line, when I got to the counter the girl didn’t even look at me and just yelled out the next numbers. This is heroin to the Mormons and it can be for you too! DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE!!! The workers have huge mounds of ice cream for you to enjoy. My favorite flavors in no particular order, Rootbeer, Pumpkin, Black Licorice, Spumoni, and Lemon. There are sooooooooo many more flavors to choose from that your taste buds will throw a tantrum if you don't try them all. So get there. Do not delay. Have dessert first because you never know.

my rating is so high, solely based on 1 employee, that was working the night shift tonight. he was a younger African American man (I only add the specific bit of information because we want him to individually be recognized, and the "supervisor" wouldn't tell us his name), he was not only extremely well mannered, he was also extremely professional. he had to ask 3 employees to get off of their phones in front of us - while we were trying to order. and there was about 6-7 other customers in the lobby as well. he told them "you're not supposed to be on your phones" and got the reply of "has anyone not been helped?". so the young man responded "you're not supposed to when customers are in the lobby". the other kid just kept mouthing off to him, and then he had to fix another kids hat because it was half way on and crocked. the girl I spoke to when trying to get the young man's name, who claimed she was a "supervisor" was not only rude but also incredibly unprofessional. she did nothing but let them be on their phones and talk about her hair, and then took it was far as to have the other employees play with her hair right behind the counter! We feel as though their roles should most definitely be switched! this young man also had a line of customers coming directly to him, or waiting for him specifically, because the other employees were either on their phones or wouldn't take the initiative. which is pathetic! tips should NOT be shared here, it's not fair for people like him who pick up everyone's slack! he was the only one who took any pride in his job.

Anytime you take people to a local staple you’re doing something right. This pace has so much local history. So this is a place I always bring people who visit. It’s no where near 5 stars because there is ZERO organization to how this place works and the servers don’t really know their product and don’t try at all to sell you anything. While some people probably like that, I personally want you to talk me into some pistachio ice cream or something.
