Reviews of Toots Ice Cream
Jenny McKee
The ice cream is so, so good! It has a really lovely creamy texture and is a softer ice cream than a lot of "hard" ice cream varieties. They have your classic flavors, like mint chocolate chip and cookie dough, but also offer more unique flavors (maple walnut) and weekly specials! If you go on a weekend, check out their Walnut Hill caboose location and take time to see the cows, goats, and chickens while you enjoy your ice cream. This ice cream stand is a ton of fun for kids and adults!

Loved the entire experience! Amazing ice cream! I especially enjoyed Charlie cherry and strawberry rhubarb. $8 for a banana split… great deal! Nice staff. Great animals… especially strawberry the pig that comes when you call her. Great play to eat ice cream at a picnic table and watch the sunset.

It's nice. I really enjoyed visiting with the animals. I wouldn't say their ice-cream is the best I've ever had, but they have unique flavors. We went on opening day. Had about 10 customers in front of us so we waited for 30 minutes to get our milk shakes. Would I recommend anyone to go out of their way to visit? Probably not.. Sorry. But if nearby, definitely worth giving it a try. I loved visiting with the animals more than the ice-cream.

If you are looking for a family farm experience, then Toot’s, with its cows out front, is the ice creamery for you. Housed in a full-sized caboose, decisions at Toot’s may come slowly given the wide variety of unique flavors available (like Caramel Cashew, Hazelnut Chip, and Grandma’s Peanut Butter Fudge just to name a few!). One of the greatest strengths of this shop is their ability to provide perfect portions to patrons of all sizes: the 70-cent baby/sample cup in particular is perfect for either satisfying small stomachs or a desire to sample a little bit of everything.

Great ice cream at low prices and a lovely farm in which to stroll about while you eat. The baby goats were my favorite!
Chapin Kaynor
Delicious ice cream stop at an beautiful farm with goats, horses, chickens, pigs and cows! Offers a wide range of delicious ice cream flavors (Mexican Chocolate S'more! Whoopie Cow Pie! Snickah! and of course Blueberry). Really great stop for kids, just off the typical tourist path!
Liz White
Great farm to wander and observe the animals! We saw chickens, roosters, goats, cows, bulls, a horse, and pigs! Also their gelato is phenomenal!
Jim Rodimon
Love the ice cream but the service was terrible, not greeted it told thank you. A baby was begging the counter crawling around making the place feel a little confusing. I prefer the train car location
Robert Merrell
Best place to get ice cream in the entire area. Portions are good and prices are great.
Kim Maestas
Best ice cream around! Very nice sit down parlor-style shop!
Lynda Berry
They make their own ice cream. Excellent taste, great choices of flavors. New place is always clean. Highly recommend if your in the area.
Nicolette Harding
What a great place. Good ice cream and great place to let the kids run and see the animals.

Came from Boston for the weekend and experienced Toots for the first time. Meghan, who was working the counter greeted us with a smile and a welcoming hello. She suggested the tangerine sorbet for me since I have a lactose intolerance. The generous portion she gave me was delicious! My friend got the Pig Pen ice cream. And Meghan suggested that the hot fudge goes with both of our choices wonderfully. I will be back again!

I love this place! Although a review that said they don't have non-dairy ice cream, they do have a lot of options for lactose-intolerant people like me.

Toots Ice Cream is no ordinary shop.. it's handmade on the premise with all natural ingredients. The setting is an old train Caboose right on a working farm.
This place is awesome for all ages and is a great place to hang out with all of the barnyard animals, from cows to steers, to pigs and goats, to chicken, bunnies and turkey's (oh my).
Word to the wise...its a working farm, and when it gets warmer out, the farm odors are quite effervescent (if you catch my drift.. pun intended). A wonderful place to enjoy locally made ice cream and the extra bonus is, the working farm to explore without an admission fee!
Ben Schulz
This is a really great place to bring the kids and have ice cream. After you get your ice cream you can walk around and see all of the different animals that they have there on the farm. Even though the portions are large they tend to be a little on the pricey side. However, we have been there several times and plan to go back in the future.
They have a really great mix of various flavors of ice cream. I don't think that I've ever had the same ice cream twice because they have such appealing flavors and you just have to try the next one.
If this review helped, please hit 'Like'. Thanks.

Ice cream is good, service is friendly and fast. But the pricing is a bit steep. I got one scoop in a bowl and my girlfriend got a one scoop sorbet Sunday and it was $7.50, I think $5 would have been reasonable for what we got. All in all it was good.
Bob Amey
Love this place... along a quiet road, actually a working farm, not just an ice cream stand. Friendly folks, and GREAT ice cream! One of my favorite places, and kind of cool too - stand is in an old caboose. Dang... no pic. Dog-friendly too.
Jim Mohler
The store is actually an old railroad car converted to a walk up window. There are several places outside to sit and enjoy your treat. The ice cream is great, made from fresh local ingredients. They offer a wide variety of flavors. You can also walk around the farmyard and enjoy the animals up close - great for the kids.

I often go to this family run local ice cream parlor, because of its excellent quality of ice cream and exciting atmosphere. The shop is inside of an old train caboose car, and is located on the farm the ingredients are sourced from. You can go look at the animals they have at the time, and enjoy your ice cream in the nice gazebo they have as well.

We stopped at Toots in the afternoon. The ice cream was delicious but seemed to melt much faster than normal. It wasn't a particularly hot day. It seemed as though the ice cream was not frozen enough. We would definitely give them another try.
Lynn Boardway
Good ice cream, lovely workers, and very clean place with a/c!
Jeffrey Cooke
All the recommended flavors were great. I personally selected whoopie cow pie, but also tried grandma's PB fudge and Moo-ca chip. Fresh, whole milk ice cream made at a working dairy farm.
Not for the low-fat alternative seeker.
Sasha
Delicious farm-fresh ice cream with interesting flavors that change daily. Strawberry-rhubarb, ginger, and avocado are some of my favorites when they pop up. Generous portions as seems to be standard in Maine. They only accept cash or local checks.
Steven Whitman
Coming from Grey seemed like a haul with anxious kids. When we arrived the animals distracted them. The ice cream was so delicious. I look forward to trying their other flavors next time. Well made!
Nicole Stafford
My absolute favorite ice cream! I will make the trip from Portland frequently just for this amazing homemade ice cream. They have some really fun flavors and I've never had one I didn't like.
Chaz W
Great place to bring your family for a cone, they have farm animals for the kids to see and the ice cream is made there! I had Smores in a waffle cone and was surprised that it actually had real marshmallows in it.
Kelly Ripley
We love Toots, it's our go to ice cream spot! Delicious ice cream and lots of animals for kids to see. Great prices, and lots of great flavors! Definitely worth a trip for!
Emily Blachly
Best ice cream, so happy they open new location and scooping all year round!
Mindy Ziehler
Nice little place good Ice cream served up in a caboose. The farm was cute too. The kids serving were doing a great job keeping up with the steady line.
Gail Strattard
Toots is theeee best home-made ice cream experience in the southern Maine area--I n my opinion. I get a kick out of the clever names for their flavors. My favorite is named "PIGPEN", their coffee ice cream with Oreo cookies throughout. The gelatos they've offered (made with goat's milk) are delightful as well. A real Maine treat-- their strawberry/rhubarb swirl...grab it while you can! Added value is the menagerie surrounding the caboose..a friendly horse, cows, pigs, goats, chickens, etc.
Crystal Tibbetts
My favorite ice cream in Maine! I like to eat the ice cream and then go say thank you to the cows. It's a great place to bring kids.
Jeffrey Tremblay
What’s better than homemade ice cream from milk from cows you can go see and talk to and maybe even pet? Nothing! So go for it. You’ll love the farm and the fresh ice cream. CASH only!!!
Joshua Cousins
This was disappointing. I had heard great things. I thought everything was relatively standard and uninspired. Perhaps I didn't order what they are best at.
May try again in the future
Katrina R
Great homemade ice cream! They even have a small farm with chickens, goats, cows, and horses. Highly recommend
Scott Linscott

philip balsam
Neat location. You wonder where the heck the place is... but when you get there they have a nice little farm and EXCELLENT ice cream! I know it sounds kind of wierd or gross but the avacado ice cream is REALLY GOOD!
Alecia Wenslow
It's nice to order ice cream in an exclosed porch and then be able to walk outside and visit the farm animals. The icecream was delicious and reasonably priced.
Yuri Zahn
