I was going to wait to write this review until I had more photos back from our wedding, but decided that I didn't want anyone who is on the fence to miss out in hiring Nico and team for a summer event! We are big ice cream lovers so decided to have an ice cream cart instead of cake for our wedding, and are SO HAPPY with our choice!!! Nico is so communicative, friendly, easy to work with, flexible, and the cart was such a cool visual element also! Guests were able to pick from four different flavors, in cup or cone, with option to add from a whole assortment of toppings. Going into my wedding night I said, "I cannot wait to be on the dance floor, with an ice cream cone in hand, surrounded by all the people I love", and the moment I looked around while that was happening made me over-the-moon joyful! The ice cream is EXCELLENT, with real fruit flavors - I received so many compliments from guests. My only regret is not hanging a big flashing sign to make sure all attendees knew to get a serving because those who didn't missed out! THANK YOU NICO AND TEAM! (**updated with additional photos)

Simple menu but delicious ice cream made new Zealand style. We had the strawberry with toasted coconut which it seems most people had. It was delicious and the waffle cone was tasty and very crunchy. Would definitely go again.

Local fruit mixed with ice cream (uses a cool machine from NZ) and you have the option of a topping. Best waffle cone I've had in a long while! Nice n fresh. I'm seeing coming back a lot during the Spring and Summer. Also, the staff is just really cool and nice which always makes everything even more enjoyable.

What a treat! I don't like overly sweet desserts. This place mixes vanilla ice cream with real frozen fruits of your choice. The texture of the ice cream and their waffle cone were both on point. Im happy we discovered this place.

Been a couple times now, and would definitely recommend. Flavorful ice cream that you get to watch get twisted out of a cool machine. It was busy last night with a wait. But they have coloring sheets for kids. Only complaint would be that patrons of the bar next door were smoking on the sidewalk feet away from Nicos door.

This place is absolutely amazing. 100% add this to your stop on a warm day! They make every order custom so you KNOW it's fresh. The menu is super simple, four flavors, they take fresh fruit and mix it with vanilla base for New Zealand style ice cream and it creates this amazing fresh fruity soft serve! Then they have some basic toppings and I LOVE that they have toasted coconut. I'm a coconut fanatic and this is the perfect topping. I got the marionberry with toasted coconut and it almost tasted like a marionberry pie ala mode. It was absolutely amazing. Plus they do a free ice cream for your birthday ! I came in celebrating and they were so super nice and gave me my free cone. Definitely will be back and highly recommend this place to everyone !

The ice cream is delicious!! Don't waste the fifty cents on the toppings which is equivalent to maybe two teaspoons.. and bring your own spoon unless you enjoy a small wooden spoon which feels like a tongue depressor at the doctor. Pretty much those two things ruin what would have been a very cool experience. 4 star because the ice cream was darn delicious, but seriously being your own spoon.

It was very refreshing. Natural made ice cream, without the extra sugars. You just have to park and walk a little bit to get there. It’s small inside but worth it.

Good ice cream. Toppings do cost $0.50 but less than a full gram cracker doesn't equate for the cost. Also hopefully they could have plastic spoons for those that struggle with tongue suppressors. Nice to have fresh fruit blended into ice cream.

Cute, small shop with fresh, yummy ice creams. I mixed the Marionberry and raspberry at the recommendation of an employee and then got it topped with sprinkles (waffle cone, duh). Perfect cone. Friendly staff. Little table and bench outside for enjoying your treat.

I saw Nico’s ice cream mentioned on Next Door. Being a true lover of ice cream we went that night to the Taco Pedler in NE Portland to give it a try. We sprung for Strawberry. This is the best ice cream we have ever had!!! It has the perfect balance of cream and iciness. The vanilla mixed with the swirl of real fruit is a perfect balance. Had to share with the fam, the next day we drove all the way to Ms. Delta on Mississippi to try all the flavors. They all are delicious but Marion berry is definitely my favorite!!!

We've never had "New Zealand" style ice cream before, but this is setting a very high bar for what we think it should be. Nico's delicious ice cream base is combined to order with fresh fruit in a contraption that gently augers everything together into a fruity ice cream that is softer than scooped ice cream, but firmer than soft serve. The store is tiny so we took our order to go. It looked like this was a huge hit with kids as well.

Fresh and delicious ice cream. It has the flavor of hard ice cream but the softer texture of soft serve. I recommend raspberry. They sometimes sell out before 10 PM and close early.

Our first visit today and the ice cream was fantastic but there's definitely some room for improvement. It took a while to get our order as they only make one order at a time on the solitary machine they have. The space is tiny and there isn't anywhere to sit inside if there are more than 4 or 5 people. It was 85 degrees out when we went and it didn't feel much cooler inside the shop. A working ac would do wonders. In the time we were there one customer gave up and left before placing their order. I know this business is just starting out and I'm happy to support them and I look forward to seeing the improvements they make along the way. Best wishes!

I got a blueberry ice cream with graham cracker crust on the waffle cone. It was awesome!! The ice cream had blueberry bits in it, texture was creamy, and the flavor was sweet and delicate without being overly sugary.

Tasty! I'm from New Zealand and this is definitely not 'NZ ice cream' but it sure is yum! It's more like Australian frozen yoghurt than anything else! Will be back for more! Oh, and employees made me feel super unwelcomed but it was a hot busy day so makes sense if folks are over it!

Woah! Such a cool spot for ice cream. They use vanilla ice cream and add your choice of fruit (raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, marionberries) to the Little Gem machine which then macerates the fruit and ice cream together and makes it into fresh fruit soft serve. It's really yummy!

So delicious! My 2 year old and I walked here and got a strawberry and a blueberry ice cream. It was so delicious! Good prices! The ice cream is made to order which is a very cool trick to show a 2 year old. Also all their merch and branding is top notch. We are so excited to have such a wonderful spot in our neighborhood!

What a lovely spot- We visited this place last week on “tropical Thursday” when the flavor offerings were mango, pineapple and banana. The shop is adorable, the employee was so nice (chatted with my kids and gave them coloring pages as well). The ice cream is unique and delicious, the portions are large, they have chamoy and tajin, and the logo/branding is adorable. the soft serve machine is also really cool and looks kind of like one of those old school giant press citrus juicers and is fun to watch the ice cream come out of. The whole experience was so nice, and I’m so happy to have it as a new neighborhood spot. There was no line (in January) so go now before it really blows up in the spring and summer.

We went with our toddlers for the first time and it was delicious. The person serving the ice cream was kind and patient with our 2.5 year olds. We went on Tropical Thursday and the flavors were so good. We got all 3 and can’t pick a favorite. Overall a fun experience for our family. Thank you! We’ll be back for sure.

Today my 4 yr old granddaughter and I walked up to the shop for ice cream cones. The nice woman was just turning the sign to “CLOSE” because the ice cream machine wasn’t working. She graciously let us in to pick carton and gave us a cone and sprinkles to take home. My granddaughter was so happy. Thank you so much for not disappointing her. Your ice cream is amazing. ❤️🍦❤️

Great to support a local business in the neighborhood. Their fuits taste fresh and the icecream is creamy. Even the kids' cone is waffle, not those plain kiddie cones you find elsewhere. Would like to see some chocolate option though, maybe for a topping. Also, the price wasn't as marked.

Very small shop, a long line but the service was quite fast so the line moves fast. There were not very many options for flavors but all of the available ones were very yummy. The topping were not anything I personally enjoyed but they put the right amount on so it was still good.

I went to the Nico's Ice Cream stand on Mississippi. Unfortunately, I could not take a picture because after the first lick, I just kept going! I ate it so quickly. I ordered the vanilla ice cream with Marionberry and Raspberry with a waffle cone. The ice cream was so fresh and light. It is made with real fruit and I could taste pieces of fruit when eating the ice cream. I like that the ice cream was light and fluffy. It was also a bit tangy which reminded me slightly of frozen yogurt. The waffle cone was delish. The right of amount of crunch. I also appreciated that you could mix the flavors into one self-serve. This spot stays open to 10pm which is nice considering that many establishments close early in Portland or at least it did during the pandemic. This place is not too far from my house which is dangerous because I could definitely see myself going especially since it's on my dog-walking route.
