My daughter had the Café Olé and I had the Jolly Green Giant. Both were simple but used good quality ingredients. The hot fudge on the coffee ice-cream was particularly pleasing. They seemed short handed when we first walked in but the young man scooping was quick and served a dozen or more customers cheerfully without getting overwhelmed.

The ice cream is delicious and I loved the decor. My family loved the ice cream. My favorite ice cream was the cotton candy. It actually had cotton candy in it. The staff were sooooo nice and they even gave us a coupon for saying thank you and this is my favorite ice cream shop which it is.

Wow! Everything we ordered was way good. My Rum Raisin (yes, it's a favorite) ice cream was delicious. My chocolate peanut butter sadly needed more peanut butter goodness added to it. The staff was AMAZING. Friendly, courteous and always smiling. And they were busy. So for an ice cream treat I highly recommend you plan a visit.

No kidding! Really great ice creams! The pistachio is outstanding! The flavor is rich and it has REAL pistachio for every bite! Not pieces but whole pistachios! The other flavors I got are cherry and salted caramel! Both are wonderful as well. Flavorful but not artificial. The cookie and cream shake was lovely too! Just so happy that we went this place in a hot day for the city visit.

So I'm not a fan of overpriced ice cream at these little shops but my wife wanted to try it so we went and ice cream is decent the atmosphere is okay but the pricing is weird. All the signs were posted that our selections were going to be 6.99 a piece, but once it was rang up I noticed that it was 750 a piece and I was just pointing it out and all I got was three young people who were all confused by the fact that the prices were posted differently than what rang up and no one could explain it. Funny thing is that the two people that came after us pointed this doubt also and they still gave the same surprised shock and awe. I'll stick to my 2.99 Kroger ice cream thank you.

Great ice cream. You can definitely taste the quality. Customer service is also great. The menu does require a lot of reading, there are many options and for the first timer, it does take a bit of reading to figure out what you want. I guess it would be nice to see a couple of pictures up there to help guide the customer. The staff does do a great job of explaining the options, though. As part of an older strip mall, I was surprised to see how clean this place was kept. All in all, did love this place and will definitely be back for more.

Best chocolate malt I've had in decades! Reminds mr of the old fashioned malts my great grandmother made me when I was a kid! Booths were romantic. The diner is cozy and fun like the 50's style diners depicted in the movies. Parking was a challenge. We like this place for our lazy fun Sundays !

When I walked in, I was greeted with a wonderful scent of ice cream that brought me back to my younger days. When I looked at the menu, I saw that I would be able to get ice cream for under $3, which I was really happy about. However, I honestly feel that I got what I paid for As ice cream was quite bland and overly hard. It felt like I was basically eating a cold, milky flavored meatball that happened to have a few cherries in it. The service was really good and the worker was very helpful and accommodating despite the fact that she was working on a paper, so that is the main thing boosting my score.

Came in this afternoon for a milkshake. The place was full, but service was prompt. The customer service was friendly and the milkshake was delicious. After I was served, a group of seniors came in from a shuttle bus. The staff treated them well and accommodated them, bringing their orders to where they were sitting. Just a nice place to come to for a cool treat on a sunny Sunday.

Tried this place out for the first time today. The prices were a bit high but I'm willing to let it slide as the place is locally owned and the ice cream tastes house made. The ice cream was delicious. I ordered a banana split and the banana was the greatest. Super fresh and evenly cut. The only real issue is that there were only like 6 tables in there and there were a ton of people, so some people ended up having to change their orders to 'to go' and leave instead of dining in; I even saw some people giving their seats away to others and eating while standing. That shouldn't be something that's happening. :/

Delicious ice cream with decent portions! After getting the Pecan Pete, I can say I am more than likely to return to see what other delicious ice cream is had. My friend had the Caramel Cashew which was equally delicious. Both had sauces that left us torn between eating it all at once instead of taking some home! If given the choice between Cold Stone and Mary Coyle Ol' Fashion Ice Cream, Mary will win every time.

I came here because I was craving a malt and based on the rave reviews and the fact that it's an ice cream parlor, I figured the malts would be phenomenal. The first thing I noticed was how expensive the shakes were... I'm not usually one to fork over $6.50 for a 20oz shake, but I was seriously convinced that it would be well worth it. Since I learn (to much disappointment) that they don't have peanut butter malts, I opt for peanut butter & chocolate (???) instead. The result was.... disappointing to say the least. I didn't taste any malt whatsoever, to the point where I questioned if malt was added at all. There didn't seem to be a whole lot of flavor to it at all, yet I still sucked up gobs of peanut butter through my straw. All in all, the shake was "ok", but definitely not something I'd write home about either.

I havent been to Mary Coyles for a number of years... and I was sad to see that they've moved locations and slashed the menu no longer doing any sandwiches or salads... HOWEVER.... the ice cream parlor still smells HEAVENLY.... my dad used to take me to work with him... and he worked for nestle and repaired and commissioned new equipment for ice cream plants and creameries all over the world from Australia to Israel and all over Europe. Most of his accounts were in south eastern United States... And I was the luckiest kid when he took me to work. And a fatty!! Mary Coyles has that turn of the century, genuine old fashioned original way of making delectable flavors from all natural ingredients. Milk, cream, sugar.... and you can smell the how genuinely old fashioned and authentic their little creamery is as soon as you walk thru their doors!! It smells so good you wouldn't be surprised if the Willy Wonka of ice cream was there to greet you. I got one scoop of cotton candy ice cream for myself and another scoop for my 1 and 3 yr old daughters to share.... their cotton candy ice cream is a blend of bubble gun ice cream and blue raspberry. It was spectacular. It's a long drive for me to go... but that drive time only increases your anticipation with every mile closer you go... I can't wait to go back!! Thank you Mary Coyles for keeping up the turn of the century ice cream standards so the rest of the world can have a baseline to measure what real ice cream is supposed to taste like. Your shop and history are a Treasure for the Phoenician people to enjoy! PLEASE NEVER CLOSE!!!

Oh my gosh this one cream place was to die for! We aren't from the area but went here on a late night trip after our flight arrived and I am soooooo glad we stopped here. Their ice cream and waffle cones were to die for. I will 100% be coming back next time I'm in town. I it was SO GOOD I forgot to even take a picture. We had Pistachio, Coconut, and Salted Caramel. TO DIE FOR!

The ice cream was good, although it was drowning in hot fudge in caramel so it melted quickly. this was my first visit to the new location. The employees were awful, very loud and obnoxious yelling loudly at one another and swearing quite a bit, definitely not appropriate for a work environment.

Amazing ice cream quality. But this being our first time there, I didn't know what to expect. We had a family of 10 people and the place was so busy I couldn't believe it. They didn't have enough room for everyone to sit it was so busy. Not sure if it's always like that, but if so, they need to seriously invest in some outdoor seating or additional room somehow. The ice cream tasted great, the waffle cones tasted fabulous, but ice cream leaked through them horribly. I'm sure we will go again. The prices were better than many other ice cream places we have tried. They don't have all the different toppings like other places, but those aren't necessary. The quality of the ice cream is enough.

This is my new favorite ice cream place. Lots of flavors and toppings to choose from and some really interesting and delicious sundaes. The employees were really friendly and answered all of our "first visit" questions. Even when it had slowed down, they came around to check on us between cleaning up. I can't believe it has been around since 1951 and I had never been before. I will be back!

The environment is awesome, the one cashier (young tall man with brown hair) has positive energy radiating from his smile and he greets every person who walks in the door! Did really good ice cream combinations. I had a banana bowl with strawberry. A regular bowl is actually big enough the two people can share it or you can do like I didn't just eat it yourself.

This place was great the only issue, I would say is parking, unless you take light rail and walk less then 2 blocks, looking for parking can be the only issue. The price is a little high but it's a LOCAL OWNED BUSINESS. So, i will gladly pay a little extra.. thanks Ice Cream was AMAZING!!!!

My parents brought us there all the time when we were kids, and now we bring our children there as well. They always have the best ice cream with great old fashioned service. It's not on the menu anymore, but if you ask for a Super Shake & Float, you'll be hooked for life.

Mary Coyle ice cream has been a Valley tradition since the early 1950's. While the store has come and gone, and the location has moved from place to place, the ice cream has been consistently cold, creamy, and delicious. Now located across from the light rail station at Encanto Road some of the best ice cream in Phoenix is just one train ride away. None of the flavors disappoint Even the vanilla is delicious, especially when topped with hot fudge. Cookie dough, coffee, and peanut butter chocolate are my favorites, but rum raisin, pistachio, and butter pecan should be on everyone's bucket list. Try a showboat (see picture) or create your own banana split. This is a special place, a happy place, and best enjoyed with friends and family.

I was really sad when Mary Coyle closed on 7th Ave. It was great to hear they opened in the streets. The ice cream did not disappoint! I had a scoop of cashew and one of salted caramel both excellent. I was not impressed with the tiny dining area. The other store had more seating. Still worth it for great ice cream!

was a little disappointed. The ice cream doesn't taste the same as it used to many years ago. Seating is limited compared to the old location and could not handle the lunch crowd. What happened to serving food?? The staff didn't know what a kids cone was and did not educate a buyer on how much two scoops would really be. its more like three scoops. way too much for a small child to handle. Loved Mary Coyle's in the past. This was just not the same.

Holy Hot House! Came here on a 115 degree July day, as you do for ice cream, and it was 90 degrees inside. And it's way too small to handle any sort of rush. The ice cream was good but I don't think I'll be back until it cools off a little.
