To be in the Phoenix’s area, under a sunny day of summer, I was so lucky to be invited to visit Joe’s. I do know many other Italian places for ice cream, yeah, not so good. But in Joe’s you can have one of the best natural flavored ice creams in town. One of lime and other of mango were more than enough to get convinced about this place. Well prepared. Service is really awesome, friendly. If you have a chance, go there and check them out. Thousand percent recommend.

The way this place does gelato and ice cream is fantastic. The tigers blood gelato confection is wonderful, the peanut butter chocolate chunk was delectable, my kids like the Rocky road flavor, my son enjoyed the chocolate gelato...and my wife was grateful for the sugar-free dairy free options. The place has a very interesting aesthetic, lots of classic bits and bobbles from old timey garages, old fashioned signs and diner-themed route 66 decor. The server was friendly, and the service was fast, and the place was very clean and well kept including the bathroom. They had some world war II memorabilia on display behind a display case, and the glass was so clean you couldn't even tell it was there :-). It's very busy during the weekends so I'd recommend going in the mid-afternoon on a weekday or you'll be waiting in line for a bit :-)

We were looking for ices and saw great reviews for Joe's. Very happy we stopped. Fun and friendly staff, great decor and a wide variety of soft serve ice cream, waffle cones, shakes, smoothies, delicious italian ices or any combo you can think of. They'll make whatever you want.

This is my favorite parlor in AZ!! The ice is super refreshing!! Especially in the summer heat. If you love refreshing and creamy ice cream I definitely recommend this place. I love their dipped cones, but nothing is better than a Joe latti. Also did I mention the decor is exquisite!!

First visit and definitely won't be the last. The Italian Ice was so flavorful and many choices on the menu. I had to go with the age old root beer float and it did not disappoint. Great customer service and atmosphere! Be sure to order and experience the INSIDE of the restaurant.

We flew in for a weekend wedding event. I love Italian Ice. We stopped in and tried the Bada Bing Cherry. It was amazing! The flavor is delicious and there are chunks of cherry throughout. I recommend this place. It also has so much character with fun decorations inside. We loved it!

AMAZING! we visited the one in Anaheim, but didn’t get a chance to try it. We found out they have another location here and had to try it!! We got the cherry joe latti, and the pineapple dole whip soft serve. The latti was tangy and had cherry chunks in it. The dole whip tasted exactly like fresh pineapple. The inside of the build was also decorated very nicely.

My friend and I met Joe (the owner) at a park after we’d been smoking. Joe and his dog Joey were super friendly and gave us a couple of vouchers for free Italian ice. Of course we HAD to go that night as the munchies hit, and the margarita flavored Italian ice was a 15/10 for sure. The BEST Italian ice of my life. We went back sober about a week ago and tried out some other flavors- not quite as mind-blowing, but still a solid 8/10 here. Definitely recommend- good vibes, good flavors, good pricing, good service. PLEASE BRING BACK THE MARGARITA FLAVOR SO I CAN GIVE 5 STARS :)

First time here, I’m not going to lie… The adorable, red, green, and white Italian awnings brought us in. The young man at the counter was very friendly, almost entertaining, and happy to give us samples and tell us all about Italian ice . How does one choose with so many flavors and combinations? We settled on a peanut butter chocolate, strawberry cream, and a hot fudge brownie sundae.

When I recently went to Scottsdale AZ, it was well worth the drive to their Tempe location just to get my peanut butter cup Joe Latti. In fact we went twice while we were there. So I think I've learned that you will love this place if you go inside or order on a delivery app. The past two times I've done the drive-thru it felt like I was a burden to them. Most recent order I did was a Jolatto and asked if they can put a bunch of cherries in it. Was told there was an upcharge which is fine. When I noticed that there wasn't any cherries, she told me it was in the bottom to get me driving away. Plot twist... It wasn't. Again, I LOVE this place, but the drive-thru has a bad track record with me.

This place is the places to go to for ice cream. The decoration of this place is on point, insta worthy. They have different ice cream flavors, my favorite is the mango and the other has a weird name but has watermelon and peach or something like that and it tastes really good. You can mix up to 3 italian ice flavors I believe, and then some are serve with ice cream, I haven’t tried that yet but my husband said it was delicious. Their customer service is a BIG plus, everyone is super nice and if it’s your first time there, they take the time to explain the menu. They also give you a punch card and at the 10th time you get one free👏🏻.

Delightfully refreshing! On a hot Phoenix day we stopped through to cool off and grab an icy treat. I got the standard lemon Italian ice which tasted fresh and had the finest ground ice that almost made it scoop like ice cream. My girlfriend tried a mango one with some ice cream on top. The ice cream was top quality with a perfectly sweet smoothness that blended perfectly with the mango. Top notch spot to stop for something cool on a hot day! We'll be back.

Well my very first visit to Joe's was a bit of an eye opener. Stopped in for a cone of soft serve(m) ,left with an empty wallet. A bit high on the price of cone. One get a half-gallon of top shelf ice cream for less. An eye opener in deed.

Amazing and unique twist on italian ice. My go to is the Joe Latti with Peanut Butter Cup & Cookies ‘N Cream. Because the italian ice has a smooth creme taste it keeps well in the freezer for a few days and tastes just like you bought it.

Fun place to go for cool treats. Selection of everyday and rotating flavors wil appeal to everyone. Wild Cherry or Cactus Cooler are a must try. Get a Joelatti and mix your italian ice with soft serve ice cream. Yum!

First time going to this location, I've only ever been to the Anaheim shop before. The employees were great and having an indoor seating area was a nice surprise. As always, the joelatti was amazing! Their Italian ice is velvety smooth and the ice cream is always delicious. You'll never eat anything else quite like it!

Pretty good if you need an ice cream fix and don't wanna go to your generic fast food restaurant. Went through the drive thru and got an oreo sundae and a brownie sundae. Guest service is ehhh, they're just their to do their job and that's all. Wait wasn't long and went home an enjoyed it. It's nothing spectacular but it gets the job done. A little pricey though. $16 for these two.

We love Joe's! Every time we're in town we have to stop for one. Today we found out this establishment is PET FRIENDLY and invited us in while ordering drive thru there, so we parked and took our boys inside. So freaking amazing! The Italian ice is made with fresh fruit, the ice cream is so soft and creamy, and the Dole whip is the best copycat I've tried outside of Disneyland. The Dole whip is dairy free too.

Great if you want an Italian ice. Don't bother if you're going for ice cream. Very pricey. $6+ for a SMALL ice cream cone. Not DQ small, actually small. Didn't taste any different then any place. Gilbert's Peterson's is definitely worth the price.

I give this place an A+!!! Born and raised in Philly and recent transplant to the Phoenix area, I was ready to be the judge to determine if this Italian ice (or water ice) as it's called back at home would pass the test. This place certainly does! The water ice, ugh, "Italian ice" for the sake of this review is great. It's smooth, rich and full of just the right amount of flavor. I got the Joelatti which is a mix of water ice and ice cream layered one on top of another. The soft serve wasn't just weak and melty, but it had some real substance to it and that made this mixture even better. The theme of the place reminds me of a Nifty Fifty's... also not sure if they have those here, but the name gives it away. It's an old town ice cream shop theme with old phones and vintage bikes hanging from the ceiling. There is plenty of space or eat both inside on a terribly hot day and outside is the weather is a bit milder. This all around would be a great family outing, date night, or just desert run.

Was in the mood for some gelato so I stopped in. Actually amazing. Got some kind of 3 tiered ice cream, gelato combo that was quite satisfying. I will say that a large is too much. I started to think it was too much most of the way through my dessert. I feel a small would do in most cases for a single person. That being said I tore through my large but ended up slowing down towards the end because of how sweet it was. Like I said a small or maybe even a medium probably would have been just right. That being said the vanilla ice cream was phenomenal and I could probably eat a truck full of it if my stomach would allow it. I liked this place a lot and will have to come back to try other things on the menu.

Always a pleasure. The inside is like a cute little soda shop! It's adorable and has a lot of natural light. Decorates for seasons, and was decked out in Valentine's day decor and had a cute vibe. Highly recommend the Peanut Butter Cup Joe-latto if you're in a creamy mood and the Sour Watermelon Italian Ice for those fruity days! :)

These guys won my heart with the kitschy fifties diner look, and tasty frozen treats. My first flavor was only OK, and went to order another flavor, but the server at the counter insisted they would give me another flavor totally free of charge, as their goal was to make sure I was happy! For the Italian Ice they offer a Flavor of the Day, 6 Everyday Flavors and 12 Today's Flavors. Of course you can order 2-3 flavors in 1 cup! You may also order their signature, Joe Latti. On their menu board, you'll also find Philadelphia Soft Serve Ice Cream in 3 flavors along with 4 Cone Dip flavors, Dreyers Hand Scooped Ice Cream in 5 flavors, Smoothies, Dairy-Free Dole Whip, Sundaes, Banana Splits, Root Beer Floats and Milkshake's. Love the lemon or root beer Joe Latte! I’ve cream is so creamy and good, and the Italian ice is unbeatable. Have had others, but they all seem like eating small ice cubes, this is blended to perfection, and some have real fruit chunks. I went a number of times and the place is no better than going to Supermarket. I was expecting above average icecream. The color scheme outside is easy to catch your eye as you drive by. The interior is also clever. It is a good place to take young children to. The child will enjoy looking and will enjoy because there is ice cream and won't be critical. The place is in a plaza for a long time. A lot of other tenants have come and gone. I guess that means many people think it is good.

This a great spot to come to if you’re looking for delicious Italian ice and if you like to see cool decor from the past. The female employee was super nice and funny, I didn’t get her name but she was a delight. There’s plenty of flavors to choose from and if you’re not sure just ask for a sample. The inside of the store is worth coming in alone so you can stare at the classic and intriguing objects.

Best place to get dessert, hands down! Just trying their vanilla ice cream alone will tell you that you are at the right place. Their cherry dipped cone is better than any other you will ever have. I crave it on the regular! Their joelatti is also delicious... I think if I had to choose a favorite flavor of it, it would be cookies and cream! I've been here a few times now, and I've enjoyed my visits thus far. They have a rotation of Italian ice flavors, different kinds each day, along with a handful of staples you can expect no matter when you go. The flavors stand out, and taste good. You can ask for samples of a flavor you may be unsure of. They also have delicious ice cream, which you can also get with your Italian ice. The atmosphere is comforting, with a lot to look at in decorations and classic time pieces. There's even oldies that plays over the speakers. Every time I've visited I've been welcomed, and their customer service is wonderful!

The family and I stopped in to get a cold refreshing dessert. Joe's Italian Ice didn't disappoint either. This one brought back memories of the locations in Anaheim, CA. This one is even better though because, they've got a decent amount of room to sit and enjoy inside. My favorite is the Bada Bing Cherry with soft serve vanilla ice cream. They have many flavors to choose from, including ice cream Sundays and shakes. Definitely a must stop if your in town ( Phoenix, Az. or Anaheim, CA.)

This was our first time visiting and we will most certainly be back! Who knew Italian ice could be so creamy and smooth! The girl who helped us was adorable and so helpful. She patiently explained the menu and how everything worked for us. Helpful hints- don't let your eyes do the buying! We were smart enough to order just the regular size Italian ice and they were so hard to finish!I can't imagine getting anything bigger! The building had a great 50's diner feel and our daughter loved the decorations (especially the traffic light). My only complaint was that there wasn't a lot of table seating for families. Half the restaurant had bar high tables and the other had shorter tables. While it wasn't a problem for our young family to grab a regular table it is something I notice being a mother of young children. This place was so yummy so we will be back for sure!

Such amazing flavor combinations. We buy quarts of the ice and a quart of the soft serve. It's such a treat anytime. We used to visit the Anaheim location before moving to the valley and couldn't be happier to still be able to have Joe's!! I can't imagine anyone would dislike this.

I absolutely love this place! Their Italian ice is phenomenal! Its a beautiful, clean and welcoming shoppe. I recommend it to anyone with little ones, my 5 year old was completely in love. I just ate here for the first time and it was amazing! I can't remember what it's called, but they have this combination of soft serve and Italian ice and it was absolutely fantastic! My friend's got a shake and he said it was delicious as well. I love the atmosphere, especially all the old gas station pumps, fans and the old pay phone. I definitely recommend this place to everyone. I will be coming back again.

I LOVE this place! Not only is it delicious but the customer service is always amazing! I don't live anywhere near Joe's but whenever I'm on this side of town I make a special stop just so I can have the Bada Bing Cherry joe-latti. Today I went through the drive thru and was told that they were out of my favorite flavor and that it wouldn't be ready for about 20 min. Thankfully I had time so I waited out front until it was ready. While I was waiting the girl brought me a little cup of ice cream to hold me over and then when my actual order was ready she gave me a giant pint of it and wrote Thank You in big letters on the bag. How flippin sweet is that?! She definitely made my day and that kind of service makes me love this place even more! I wish I would of got her name to include in this review but I definitely wanted to give her a big thank you!

RECENT UPDATE: My kids have begged me to go back and we've been back a few times. Different staff and all are helpful and friendly. The service is now just as great as the Ice cream and Italian Ice. Much better. Bada Bing Cherry and Vanilla Bean are out favorites. We Love it!. The Ice Cream is Great. The customer Service NOT so Great. My first time ever here today and there were two Latina ladies working there and they seemed to be too occupied chillin in the back than working. The side door was locked when my kids and i pulled up sign said Saturday open at 11am. It was 1pm. My kids and i banged on the door and one of the ladies came to the front looked at us and went back to the back.. Didnt say or point or anything. I called and she answered the phone. I asked if they were open she said yes and that there was another door in the front. Great came in the front waited about a good 5 more mins as there was a line of people growing at this time and finally after saying hello a few times the lady that answered the phone and another latina came out from the back. They were quick to serve my kids and i and the line. The ice cream and Italian Ice was the best ive ever had. Great flavor. I do believe Coronavirus has made alot of employees in retail super slack and nonchalant but first impressions are everything. Im not sure if we will be back.

Great place to cool off with some Italian ice. They let you sample the many different flavors. Most of the flavors I've had include real pieces of fruit. The flavors change regularly. The entire family will love it. Decor is very old school. Old gas pumps, phones, bikes, etc. Plenty of seating as well as an outside patio. AC is on full blast though so it might get chilly for the kids. To top it off they also have punch cards for free treats as well as free promos. Overall a great place for the family. A family of four will run you approximately $20. Cash and cards accepted. Will be coming back often!

At first glance it didn't seem like much, but gave it a try after a friend recommended. I'm glad I did! They'll offer you a taste of their flavor of the day, immediately if there isn't a crowd, for their Italian ice. For an extra treat when ordering, and get your Italian ice as Joe's Latte. They add a good bit of soft serve ice cream at the bottom and top of your Italian Ice, it's amazing.

I would give it four and a half stars if I could, only because of the fairly high prices, but it's always nice and cool inside, and the antique Americana decor makes for pleasant ambience. Suggestion - install a drinking fountain so yes don't have customers asking for water and wasting cups. Really great flavors and selection! Super pleased to support local business as well! This place is amazing I've never had anything like it. They have this thing they call gelati which is a mixture of Italian ice and ice cream. It is amazing. The kids loved it and so did my lady and die. The staff is very friendly and informative and they make sure that you get what you need. They're also willing to let you try anything on the menu before buying it. I recommend stopping by here to anyone it is become one of my favorite ice cream places to go.

Joe’s Italian Ice is a little slice of heaven! The decor is very retro, cool 50’s style. The employees are well trained, and so, so, friendly and upbeat! The Italian ice flavors vary from day to day, but all of them are amazing! My favorites are Root beer, Tiki Cream( tastes like a pineapple dole whip from Disneyland!) Wild Cherry, and fuzzy wuzzy(peach watermelon mix). My grand daughter loves the blue cotton candy flavor. You can order just a plain Italian ice, or order it as a Joe-latti( creamy frozen soft serve on top and bottom of cup with Italian ice between) The soft serve is imported from Wisconsin, and is the creamiest, most delicious soft serve ice cream in AZ!

Not your typical ice cream parlor. Joe's has a wide variety of Italian ice that changes day to day. Of course the basics are always in stock but you need to go multiple times to get a real idea of the range of flavors they offer. Joes wide variety of flavors, great customer service, and one of a kind decor makes them stand-alone in the ice cream industry. The Tempe location is always my first recommendation to anyone that is looking for something sweet.

The tasty treats were delicious, let me start with that. The reason the review is 3 stars is for two reasons. Reason 1: we explained this was our first time and asked about what were the differences between a few items. The staff member was friendly, but didn't explain about the differences between the types of items offered. I was satisfied with my choice (small regular style mango), but the person I was with received an item they didn't understand they ordered (it came more like a "float" or something with soft serve. Reason 2: the watermelon flavor still had seeds that became rock hard and practically chipped a tooth. I would suggest somehow removing the seeds of at all possible. The flavors were great and I'll probably go back for another experience.

My favorite is the strawberries n' cream joelato. If it's your first time there I recommend that. It reminds me of the strawberry ice cream cups I used to get as a kid. I've been pretty hit or miss with the flavors the few times I've gone back, but overall I like most of the the flavors!

Extremely friendly, attentive, patient, and kind. There was a younger guy and gal when me and my Dad came in. We were greeted at the door and immediately offered their flavor ice cream of the day. I think it was some mocha ice cream(?) That was delicious! After looking at the menu we were offered samples of other treats. The crew didn't seem bothered at all and they looked very happy to be there. The shop was also very clean and it looked really neat with all the props inside. The italian ice was also sooo cheap and soooo good! I'm definitely coming back.

I had the La Bamba Ice tonight and it was beyond amazing, not only the flavor but the consistency of the gelati is perfect. This feels like a place anyone of any age could appreciate. The decor and 50's vibe is super fun (though there might be one too many puns in there). Sadly I don't think we went on the best night because our experience was a little strange, there was no music playing in a kind of large space which made it feel awkward and kind of uncomfortable to be in. They also serve up normal Dryer's ice cream which just feels like it's storebought, and the flavor my boyfriend got (sour cherry) tasted more like cough medicine after a few bites. That last bit was our own fault though. Overall, I appreciate what they are doing but I just wish we had a better personal experience.

It was ok. The flavored ice cream was just Dreyers, said so right on the menu. I get dreyers for $2.50 at the grocery store. It's really nothing special but they charge like they spent hrs home churning it. There's only a few options for specialty ice cream and one size only for each. The Italian ice was pretty good, different flavors and sizes for that. The soft serve was decently tasty. Like I said, it was ok. Good but not something I would drive specially to get to.

My wife and I met Joe! He was working in the back with the employees at 8:30 at night and took a moment to bring us up a sample and start a conversation. He seems like a genuinely great guy. I would give this place 5 stars, but they always have issues reading my cards, which I've used at hundreds of other places and never had issues. They need to either clean their strip readers, which is kind of common knowledge when you use old swipe readers, or invest in updated an alternative, even a phone based cube would work. Aside from this though, they offer delicious treats, and their Italian Ice is pretty awesome.

In my mind, Joe’s has no competitors. On the surface, some people might think that Rita’s or maybe even Cold Stone could compare. Those people obviously haven’t actually been to Joe’s. On all surfaces, Joe’s delivers EXCEPTIONALLY. Anyone could make a delicious product, I mean it’s basically just sugar and flavoring, but what keeps me coming back to Joe’s, what makes me recommend Joe’s to my family and friends, and what makes Joe’s an integral part of Tempe culture is it’s customer service. I have been to 5 star restaurants where I dropped hundreds of dollars and still not been treated better than I am at Joe’s. Particularly by one of their staff members, Ben. Without fail, Ben greets us with a warm smile and loud welcome every time he is there! As someone who is hard of hearing, it is nice to not have to ask the employees to repeat themselves. I am sure all of the other staff members are great, too, but Ben exceeds all of my expectations as a customer. For him, and all of their staff, I will continue to come to Joe’s and will always tell others about the amazing experience anyone gets when they walk through those doors.

Go for the Italian ice. They have some flavors, like cherry, everyday and others that rotate. I had cherry, my daughter had the daily special of dreamsicle, which we got samples of immediately upon entering. My husband had strawberries and cream. They were all amazing. My kids are so disappointed that we can't go back anytime soon, since its a long ways from home. The decor is cool, lots of retro stuff like a phone booth with a rotary dial phone. The only negative was the space invaders game that was being played. It was super loud.

I love the look and feel of this place. There's plenty of antique signs as well as the unusual signs hanging on the walls and ceilings and even at the entrance....giving you an idea of what you would find inside. The Italian ice was very good...sweeter than I usually get. I believe the flavor was called Bada bing cherry. It had lots of chunks of bing cherries in the deep purplish red ice. I'm not a fan of slushes because of the "brain freeze" I get. Yet this Italian ice was very fine texture, refreshing to taste, and did not melt and go all runny even though it took over an hour to finish it while I was shopping. (I ordered a medium size and it was more than I expected...so I took some "to go"). I look forward to trying other flavors in the future.

Oh my God what can I say about Joe's?! this is one of my friend's favorite places in Orange county at their other location and I was shocked to learned that there is a location and it's their only other location in the world in Tempe Arizona. We live in Flagstaff so when we get to Phoenix I will go there and buy several quarts of this delicious delicacy and will bring it back to Flagstaff... Friendly service. They don't mind grabbing samples. The menu rotates so check online before visiting. My favorite (horchata) isn't always featured on the menu. I like the strawberry with their vanilla soft serve. It reminds me of an adult version of strawberry nesquick. Decor is interested with various antiques and relics. Bring quarters and enjoy Pacman or Space Invaders.

I cant believe it took so long to try this place. Get the ice cream mixed with Italian ice. Seriously can't go wrong with any of the flavors. Get a small or regular unless ur a fat cup cake eat looking mofo. Its a heavy dessert and ur eyes are bigger than ur stomach. Sorry about calling you names if ur one of the biggins.

Coming here is always a treat 😉 ... The LaBamba is the bomb, and there's always a chance to enjoy it while listening to it at the same time with the oldies playing overhead. Joe is a super-nice guy and tends to stop in from time to time and have friendly conversation with customers. They also take flavor suggestions that could show up on the menu within the week, which is pretty amazing. This place became an immediate Tempe staple for me.

Ah, the Joe Latti, my go to summer treat. Light and refreshing Italian ice paired with the richest vanilla soft serve. Most of their Italian ice flavors are spot on like their Bada Bing Cherry, Lemon, and Raspberry Tart. Although, sometimes I feel like their other flavors may taste a little too artificial. It is a great hang out spot though that’s open late with plenty of nick knacks and even a Pac Man arcade.
