Reviews of Soft Swerve Ice Cream
A proper ube soft serve! It tasted like the ube flavored ice cream I would get in Manila, but this is way more creamy and smooth; just the way I like it. This is how i want my ice cream to taste like if I manage to get my hands on an ice cream maker.
I’ll come back to try the other ice cream flavors to avoid diabetes. It’s so hard only get one flavor since they have an assortment of flavors that aren’t usually offered in a regular ice cream shop.
This shop offered a unique assortment of ice cream flavors. We ordered a cup and cone and were pleased with the deliciousness of the ice cream with toppings. The best part is that they made sure to add toppings at the base of the ice cream so just when you think you’re done, you uncover more underneath! The ac was also on blast and offered much welcomed relief from the hot NYC summer sun.
Loved how they don’t have the traditional flavors. I tried the mixed swerve Matcha & Sesame Butter Ice Cream on a classic cone.. I rate the ice cream it 5/5
I gave 4 stars review because the tables were dirty and there was a weird smell when I first entered the store.
Hands down one of my new favorite cream places. The employees are so kind and wonderful as well.
I get the sesame butter/matcha swirl. No toppings because the ice cream alone is delicious enough!
Gosh I love this place and always crave it now!
one of the best matcha soft serve I’ve ever had. The texture is definitely soft, like you’re literally eating clouds. The matcha flavor was also very good, not bitter or overly sweet. There are a lot of different Asian-inspired flavors to choose from as well! They have regular ice cream too if you are not feeling soft serve, though I definitely recommend it!
After the girls and I had a girls night we were craving something sweet and fun. And stumbled across Soft Swerve. I feel like there wasn’t much options. The ice cream we had was good but wouldn’t go out of the way to go there again.
Cute shop with lots of ice cream flavours! Got a Vietnamese iced coffee flavoured pint and makes a great snack on a cold day with a boost of caffeine (good for those WFH days)!
Lots of variety and awesome flavours. Cute cups and cones too!
If you have never had ube ice cream, this is definitely a must hit spot! Been here 3 times already, and have never been disappointed. There is limited indoor seating, but public seating outside across the street as well. Great stop for dates or groups.
Their vegan Ube (purple yam) is so good - it doesn’t even feel like I’m missing out on the creaminess that you typically only get from dairy. As a Filipino, it brings back childhood memories of ube ice cream at birthday parties. Truly a ratatouille moment, for me at least. Other flavours also look interesting!
Delicious ice cream and nice large cups. Definitely a great spot since its open later too. Drop by if you get a chance and I definitely recommend getting both swirls so you can try all of the soft serve flavors! The matcha was my favorite
They have hefty samples for you to try! The soft serve is at a harder, creamier consistency which is exactly what I like! My flavor preferences by favorite: milk tea, black sesame, ube. The total comes out to $5.99 which is pretty pricey for ice cream to me. However, it’s worth trying.
This place doesn't need anymore praise but why not give them another five star review for doing what they do best.
I love soft serve ice cream so much that even when I get pints of ice cream, I'll let it melt a little so that I can enjoy it . So after walked past "so swerve" several times on my lunch break, I made it my mission to stop in one day.
They have about six flavors to choose from and lots of toppings. I always get overwhelmed so I chose one of the flavor combinations they already had ready.
It was delicious, not too much and the perfect end to a meal or a snack. I went into the office with it and it made everyone else go out and get some, that's how good it looked. I see that the also have pints on sale so I may try that or go back to try the other flavors
Lovely and unique flavors. The soft serve is smooth. The special flavors are pretty good, but you probably won't go wrong by selecting your own toppings. The black sesame soft serve is really, really delicious!
We passed by Soft Swerve randomly and I was attracted by the beautiful purple Ube soft serve photo on their sign, so we decided immediately to give it a try.
The decor is clean, bright and adorable. The options for the combination of flavors & topping were flexible and available to create your own preference. We had their Ube & Almond Cookies swirl with Cap n’ Crunch topping. The soft serve was rich and creamy, especially the Ube flavor, but we didn’t really enjoy the Almond Cookies since it’s a little artificial for us.
It's been couple summers since I last visited; the menu changed a lot. They still have their famous Ube but they also added sesame butter flavor which is new. Instead of soft serve this time I tried their icecream; it's the same price as soft serve $6 for two scoops. I had the hojicha and hongkong tea flavors; not too much a fan of hojicha, but hongkong milk tea does taste like the tea a little bit sweet but I like it. I still recommend the soft serve they are super creamy and large portion.
I’m a softie
- said this ice cream!
The soft serve ice cream at @softswervenyc comes in some pretty unique flavors like this matcha and peppermint hot chocolate swirl that I added Oreo crumble too. The matcha on its own was a nice flavor but the peppermint over powered it all. It was good, but I kind of wish I tried some of the other flavors instead of this seasonal mix. They also had ube, vanilla, and almond. If only there was an ube matcha swirl!
Ice cream shop down the block from Celsius on Allen Street.
My kids ate it and their feedback was that the ice cream was good.
What I noticed is that the portions are very small.
Cute little ice cream location. Good customer service. I wish they had classic flavors like chocolate and strawberry though. I did enjoy the matcha flavored soft serve.
Super cute little hole in the wall that serves interesting flavors of soft served ice cream. My partner got the Ube soft served with mochi for the toppings. The dessert ended up being less than $10.
Featured on Inside Edition, about them cleaning there ice cream machines daily causing the ice cream to taste so much cleaner and even better. Went to check it out and it turned out to be true. Ice cream tasted absolutely good, the flavors were lacking because there was barely any flavors to choose from, no chocolate unfortunately and a lot others but the one I ordered was really good. Recommend here for great ice cream!
Tried 4 of the flavors and none of them disappointed! They are open late, has ice cream, soft serve, and plenty of toppings.
The ube and almond cookie swirl in a classic waffle cone was amazing! Ube was an entirely new flavor that I had never tasted before, and it was absolutely delicious. I love almond and the almond ice cream was amazing as well. They also have tons of toppings and drizzles available so you can really dec out your cone!
Very unique & tasty soft serve; I got the ube with oreo toppings in the chocolate cone, and I loved the combo. Would have gotten a cup with it though, as it began to drip fast. Four stars because the price felt really steep, even for New York.
Ube, Matcha, and Asian flavored desserts are usually a hit or miss. You either have authentic, subtle, and mildly sweet delights, or overly sweet Americanized concoctions made with the lowest grade matcha or ube extract. Soft Swerve is the former and takes the cake for the best ube ice cream I've ever had.
Since Soft Swerve is so popular I half expected a longer line. But when my partner and I arrived, it was only a 15 minute wait. Probably because it's the middle of winter and no one wants ice cream in cold weather. Go figure.
My partner and I both ordered the ube vanilla swirl in a cup. I got mine with mochi topping. The staff took the time to make a circle of mochi around my soft serve to make it look pretty and it shows how detail oriented the place is.
With a few tables in the front of the shop, we managed to snag a table as people were leaving. The ambiance is trendy and marked by the billboard of aesthetic polaroid photos of soft swerve ice cream.
Despite being super full from dinner, my partner and I both devoured our ice cream so fast that we both forgot to take photos...oops. The soft swerve was subtly nutty, mildly sweet, and not overwhelmingly creamy. The mochi was a perfect chewy addition to add a different texture to the mix.
Maybe next time I'll remember to take an Instagram worthy pic, because I'll definitely be back.
Awesome unique flavors here!! Yakult, Vietnamese coffee and Oolong tea was great!
The soft serve here is so bomb.
Been coming since it opened.
I am very much a fan of the Ube and Black Sesame, but when I went today I was disappointed the Vietnamese Coffee wasn't available at the Allen St location, I have just always enjoyed the flavor options here.
I am more of a hard icecream person but I would have to say this is top 2 soft serves I have ever had.
The staff is also always super nice!
Outstanding ice cream! There is both soft serve and scoop ice cream, and a big variety of toppings. There's a wonderful Asian theme, with ice cream flavors including ube, bubble tea, Vietnamese coffee, and Yakult. Highly recommended! Note: it's also super clean, and had a few (but only a few) seats.
Small ice cream store with very limited seating, but interesting options. I had the woodside sundae and loved it. The ube ice cream was very delicious, and the toppings went perfectly with the taste of the ube.
Loved the unique flavors like vegan ube hard ice cream and black sesame soft serve. Friendly staff. Clean ship and comfortable seating. A must try!
Ube with toasted coconut topping was tasty and nice and creamy. Chocolate cone didn’t taste like anything to me. Was a $10 ice cream cone, so big spend.
Great ice cream. Amazing asian and filipino flavors. Can customize toppings and cones. Very flavorful and picturesque
This place is ICECREAM HEAVEN. the selections are outstanding. I need to go back there multiple times a week so I can try every flavor. I am an icecream addict. Wonderful place.
ONG I came here multiple times, and I love this place. Their workers are so nice and their ube and yakult is so good. They have so m any options now as well. The swirls here look so cute and pretty too!!! FS come here if you want some good ube, it doesn't compare ONGGG.
Also, they have a vegan ube flavor too. So many of my friends who are lactose had it and they said it was so good, so make sure to come if you ever thought "I'm lactose I'll pass" come try at least once.
The ice cream is hitting from this store. In the beginning i was very skeptical with the flavor names but you can ask them for a sample. It was so much ice cream that i would reccommend you eating on an empty stomach. Because....its a lot. And so creamy. And I'm lactose intolerant and my stomach didnt even hurt!
Whenever i want ice cream, this is the first place that comes to mind. Great taste and lots variety. Must try the ube ice cream!!!
The ube soft serve is sweet and delicious.
The scoop flavors are also really fun - Thai tea, yakult, viet coffee
Top notch quality soft serve ice cream. Creamy, rich, and smooth, the soft serve here does not compare to anywhere else in the big Apple. Tucked in the heart Allen street, this place is the perfect spot to recharge and take a break from the summer heat. Awesome spot, excellent and friendly service, and reasonable prices!
Strawberry Fields - 7/10
I love the combination of strawberry and matcha. This matcha is definitely on the sweeter side and I wish there was fresh strawberries instead of freeze dried strawberries. Still a great treat on a hot summer day!
The Ice Cream itself wasn't bad. I tried the Mochi, Sweet Potato and Hot Chocolate. I enjoyed all three (5/7).
The "topping" that I had was amazing. I asked the employee to make me their favorite dessert so I don't know what it was specifically. But, the oreo and (condensed milk?) goodies that where ender the ice cream were phenomenal! (7/7)
I highly recommend asking to sample the flavors before you order anything. Even though the flavors sounded weird they tasted delicious. I would absolutely go back anytime I'm in Manhattan New York Chinatown area. The signature flavors are the way to go!
Fun and creative place with a variety of flavors that taste very clean, fresh, and authentic- but definitely not the cheapest. With Asian-inspired flavors such as Lychee, Macapuno, ube, and the now seemingly omnipresent matcha, you can find something that matches your fruity/natural cravings here. Cute shop seems to cater to taking pictures of their creations, with nice pastel walls and bright lights making sure what you get looks its best on your camera as well. In the end, it is still just pricey soft serve, albeit very tasty soft serve. The shop has seating, but you could also take your froyo for a stroll down the nearby Roosevelt Park.
Very good ice-cream! Staff is so nice too. ( If you’re looking to grab an ice-cream while walking and enjoying the weather…it’s neighborhood is not the best to do that. )
My fave ice cream! Their ube soft swerve is one of the best because its not too sweet and def worth for its price! 💕👌🏽 …
Ube and Black Sesame flavors were both great. The mochi toppings pair very well despite being fairly mediocre quality mochi.
Nice decoration, excellent customer service! Something different for ice cream!
I’ve been on the hunt for ube ice cream and I found it here!
Inside has a clean modern feel in the decor. And
it smells amazing, you can smell all the different ice cream favorites. I got mine To-Go and it was sooo worth it.
For exotic ice cream in nyc GO HERE!
The ube + black sesame is a must try. Always solid service given every time we go there for a quick ice cream pick-me-up.
I got the vegan mango today and it was really good! it tasted like mango instead of artificial flavors, it wasn't overly sweet, and the sugar wafer cone is yummy =) the store also looked very clean and the staff is friendly which is a plus, I'll be back to try their other flavors!
Delicious experience. Had the purple yam and coconut ice cream swirl with toasted coconut. It was very tasty. (I love yams/sweet potato) I love trying new things. I would go here again and try other flavors. This is not your conventional ice cream shop, so if your looking for classic flavors I would not recommend...but that's what makes this place incredible.
Interesting flavors! Run of the mill ice cream shop in the Chinatown area. Note the way they swirl the ice cream leaves a big hole in the middle of the cup or cone.
A few tables and chairs for sit in dining.
Summer nights are the busiest!
They have ube soft serve! Black sesame and matcha are also really great flavors for when they run out of Ube. The portions are generous for the price & there are a good variety of toppings including mochi, fruity pebbles, ores, golden ores, freeze dried strawberries, and sauces to drizzle.
I will go out of my way for this fluffy treat. This ice cream is the perfect texture. Their flavors are beyond compare. I am obsessed with ube and this is the best ube ice cream in existence. My favorite ice cream spot ever. They have a wide range of toppings. I usually get one of their creations has they have perfected the way to balance and accent each flavor or swirl. They now have pints which is wonderful and dangerous. Also make sure to follow them on Instagram to see their seasonal flavors.
Very yummy and pretty soft serve. I got the woodside in a cinnamon cone, especially loved the mochi pieces. It is pretty pricey (almost $11!!!), but still very good. And cute atmosphere.
Try the Ube on a "regular" cone and you will feel like an anime character. Ube taste similar to vanilla, it has more of a light savory flavor. ice cream is smooth and thick, no clumps 100/100
Nice little ice cream spot with unique flavors and combinations to choose from. Definitely like that they offer the creative flavors in soft serve form and have complimentary toppings to go with them. Fun little after dinner treat. No frills and nothing fancy but they do soft serve well.
Great ice cream flavors. Highly recommend anyone who is willing to try new flavors and explore a little.
Yum! The chocolate waffle cone actually taste like chocolate. The ume flavor was great but a tad too sweet for my taste. If you're sensitive to sweet things, try the ume/macapuno swirl or just the macapuno (coconut). Get a sample first!
1st Time was with the limited edition Madame Vo flavor...should have stayed around.
One week later...madame Vo gone so I went with Coconut. The serving size is a bit too much to stomach. Couldn’t even get to finish the waffle cone. Been there done that, won’t go again unfortunately.
In a less appealing location so losing stars on that.
Really good! They have Ube and Sesame! Unique toppings. Nice and smooth. Better than others!
Ordered their popular Ube flavor. The soft serve is a bit on the thicker, heavy side and a tad over sweet but was still very good with the ube taste. Customer service was good and their long lines move quite fast! I would come back again to see if their matcha is better than taiyaki nyc.
Soft Swerve Ice Cream is the place to go for desert after a meal! I personally love the Woodside on a cup with matcha as a base. As you can tell it twas amazing! @$8, definitely worth it!
This is a cute place for a quick meet up with some friends/family or a dessert option after a meal. They offer samples of the ice cream before you order to make sure you enjoy your flavor! I ordered "strawberry fields" which is a soft swerve special consisting of matcha soft serve ice cream drizzled with strawberry syrup and topped with freeze dried strawberries. I added Mochi on top of my order. They have a small seating area inside the shop which was a nice addition considering how small the shop is. I would recommend trying this spot for ice cream.
Wonderful flavorful offerings of soft serve! If I had to pick one, ube is the standout. Topping selection is also diverse and embellishes your cone!
Great place for east meets west flavors. I love all the flavors. You can't go wrong with any toppings.
Minimum five dollars for credit cards so you could do a regular serving and one topping. :) I shared a picture of my black sesame with toasted almonds.
This is reply to the owner's response and some details on this review. The service and ambience was great (Although the table could be cleaned a little more frequently). The portion is also pretty generous. However, the ice cream itself, at least the flavors I tried was could really use some improvement. The green tea flavor was mediocre. The taro flavor has a spongy texture. It is weird to say but it tastes dry and it is almost like eating a cold taro puree. It does not melt in your mouth instantly as ice cream should. Soft serve ice cream should taste like soft serve ice cream the first and foremost and then the various flavorings can be added to make it unique.
This new ice cream store is the best thing to happen to the city in a long time. They opened in early December to a lot of hype and they came through, slinging premium Japan-sourced matcha, ube (yam), and black sesame. Pretty much every flavor I want under one roof. Brilliant service in a convenient space. There's limited seating however most people do not stay long enough to play a factor in a decision to buy ice cream. Their ube is simply the best, most consistent soft serve anywhere. We know this because we've seen the guy in the back working furiously to slice, dice and pummel ube yams into the smooth consistency you'd find in ice cream. It's safe to say I'll be back even more often when the warmer seasons are here again.
The Ube(purple yam) flavor is good. Took my daughter here after our lunch date. They have other Asian-inspired flavors like Black Sesame and Hong Kong Milk Tea. Cool spot.
Amazing ice cream! Love that they have four ice creams and so many different toppings. The taro ice cream is on point! Definitely a highlight of my trip to NYC.
I came here awhile back when they offered the limited time cold brew flavor, madame vo collaboration I believe. Adequate seating but was a warm day and my icecream seemed to melt quick, this is apparently too be expected from soft serve. The icecream itself was rich and delicious. I do however recommend asking for a cup, spoon, and some napkins if you get a cone. This is because your icecream will be dripping down your hands before you can take all the pictures you want.
The place is small and has only two tables...it can get packed pretty quick. Service was quick and efficient. If you are unsure about a flavor, you're more than welcome to request a sample. They also have two types of ice cream cones: chocolate and strawberry. Also, there are plenty of options for toppings. The current flavors are: Ube (purple yam), Earl Grey Tea, Ube and Earl Grey Tea swirl, Matcha (Green Tea), Black Sesame, and Matcha and Black Sesame swirl. They accept credit cards (AMEX, MC, and Visa). You need to come back when they switch the flavors. By the way, when you are having a cone, don't be surprised when you get midway through the cone that middle is hollow, that's how they get the swirl so amazingly beautiful...but nevertheless very filling still. All the flavors are rich, smooth, and flavorful. I highly recommend this place!
By far the best soft serve in the city. Do not leave without trying the ube and black sesame. The only thing I wish they had was more locations. I’ve been here more times than I can honestly count, a definite go-to anytime I’m craving something sweet or when someone visits!
We got the ube lychee swirl soft serve and I absolutely loved it!! Very smooth ice cream and the two flavors tasted were extremely delicious. As someone who loves both ube and lychee, this was a great combo to get for ice cream. I've also gotten just the ube soft serve one before which is good too but I personally preferred being able to have both flavors at once
This ube ice cream have stolen the spot for my favorite flavor. Perfect texture and flavor. I recommend to try it with the chocolate cone, and with the oreo and almonds toppings. The servers were super nice as well.
Unique/atypical soft serve flavors.
Also regular hard ice cream available too.
Really good ice cream and flavors. Had the Matcha and black sesame with mochi topping. Really like the texture but the little pricey for toppings the mochi is a dollar extra and I only had 10 or 12 pieces.
Absolutely delicious! My dad truly appreciated the ice cream and it reminded him of home. I always loved ube ice cream and it's a shame that I can't get any close to where I live. Also, the names of the specials are very creative.
The ice cream gave me childhood memories. It dripped all over my face and hands, but I did not care. I had sticky fingers and a bit my chin to save for later and I, once again, did not care. It can't get a much better than that. GOOD JOB Soft Swerve!! lol
The best matcha soft serve in NYC.
I tried every other matcha soft serve (Taiyaki NYC, Cha Cha Matcha, Matchaful, Sweet Churros, etc.). They're all too watery, too sweet, and not enough matcha. Some of them are literally green food coloring and ice water.
Soft Swerve is the opposite: really strong amazing deep green matcha flavor, not too sweet, very creamy, simply amazing. Perfect served on a waffle cone.
Almost as good as Matcha Cafe Maiko
Such a treat going here! Love the Ube and Black Sesame Swirl!!! So good!
This little hole-in-the-wall ice cream shop is a gem! The workers are helpful and courteous and always willing to let you sample some of their creatively Asian ice cream flavors. Our personal favs were the Ube and the Black Seasame. (The Ube tastes similar to a vanilla and the Black Seasame is like a more nutty peanut butter. Try their fun waffle cones too!
Great flavors! My personal favorite is the ube icecream, and I get that with mochi. There are a lot more different Asian flavors to try, looking forward to trying more.
We had the Broadway and Chocolate Eclair. Good soft-serve but kind of artificial and a bit pricey
It a nice petite ice cream shop with great unique flavor's and cereal toppings. The staff were really helpful.
Get the cup! The matcha ice cream melted faster than I could salvage it, and it wasn't even that hot today...Both of my hands were covered in melted goo of ice cream, that I felt like a child eating her first ice cream ever. I'm surprised I managed to finish it all, while dodging the drips from getting to my black trousers. It was a mess!! It still tasted great though. I got the matcha on a chocolate cone with freeze-dried strawberries. Insta-worthy but take plenty of napkins with you 😅
The ube and matcha were great. Matcha was very matcha-y and not too sweet, which complimented the ube nicely. Great creamy texture and decent portion for $6.
Absolutely delicious soft serve in the lower east side. Purple yam (ube) was perfectly creamy and the black sesame matcha swirl was tasty too!
Creamy, decadent soft serve. Ube, green tea, frozen hot chocolate (seasonal), black sesame: all their flavors are great. They also sell pints if you want to bring some home for later. In short, I do recommend this and will be returning.
This place is so worth the wait in my opinion! Very cute dessert place with super creamy ice cream in huge portion
Pro
- 4 unique flavors (ube and matcha are so good) they let you taste the flavors, so try it before you get it
- variety of toppings and yummy waffle cones
- portions are big. Suggest sharing or getting it in a cup. I just asked for an extra cup and plopped the ice cream into it after I took my photos lol
- cute interior that is insta worthy
Con
- expect to wait
- expect to stand as their tables are limited and most people like to enjoy their ice cream sitting down
- their chocolate cones were sold out when I went. They say their top flavors sell out too... so watch out
They ran out of the special cones and the ube flavor by the time we got there, but the matcha-black-sesame-swirl I got was tasty. It was a good amount of ice cream for under $4, which seems like still a questionable deal, but better than most other $5-a-scoop places you see in the city. The flavors were clean and the ice cream was the right amount of sweet—tasty but not cloying.
A small place with lots of customers. There is always a line at anytime, but this does not stop us. Their ice cream is very delicious and beatific too! Strongly suggested!
Soft serve ice cream that’s Instagram worthy, but yet actual taste delicious? Look no more. Soft swerve is the place to go. Ice cream have a lot of sentimental meaning to me, as my family often times takes us out to get ice cream growing up.
I have tried all 4 flavors as I have been back countless time (guilty pleasure) My top one has to be ube, then follow by black sesame, matcha green tea, and coconut. UBE isn’t a flavor you can just get from anywhere, especially not in soft swerve form. I was educated by the friendly store staff that ube is a purple yam- root vegetable that’s commonly used in the Philippines. That beautiful purple color makes eating ice cream more fun, and the whole idea of customizing it your way by adding toppings just made this experience a whole lot better. You can also get two flavors in a swirl or have it stacked if it doesn’t come in a swirl. Basically you can be as creative as you want with your cone. NYC is packed with restaurants and dessert spots but I highly recommend soft swerve. You won’t be disappointed.
Generous serving sizes, unique ice cream flavors, and a friendly staff that is more than willing to provide numerous samples. My personal favorite was the Ube and Coconut Swirl combined with Lychee Icecream and topped with sprinkles. Unfortunately, the Lychee option has been removed which has lowered my rating due to the lack of other "light" flavors. However, if you're a fan of Ube, Black Sesame, or Matcha Green Tea Icecream then definitely check them out.
A chilly day and I still decided to give a cold treat a try, it was the correct choice. Quality service, and the black sesame soft serve (I think it was limited) was delightful! Ask for samples if you're unsure of a flavor
Best textured soft serve in the city. Excellent flavors for discerning palates. Green tea + black sesame is a classic.
UBE got to get this!
Is this the best ube toasted coconut and mochi ?!! Wow. Ube got to.get this!
This so hit the spot. The ice cream was really creamy soft and the ube coconut combo and the little chunks of mochi was wow!
They fill the bottom of the cone w toasted coconut before filling in the ice cream..so you get a little bit of the coconut as a last bite.
I was surprised how good thie was. The toasted coconut definitely gives it a nice layering of flavor
UBE GOT TO go to
A chinatown dessert staple. Only a handful of flavors but they do them right. Black sesame + Ube swirl is the way to go.
Went there with all the hype. As usual with many hype places, the item is Instagram worthy and that's about it. The purple ice cream (yam/umi) is ok...at best. I was there with 2 other friends and we all agreed other then the cool factor it's nothing much else. You get to sample the flavors so that's a good thing. Overall, I won't be a returning customer especially at the price point. ($7+ I believe for my cone)
I love coming here for some Ube ice cream. It's so creamy and true to its flavor. You can even sample some of their ice cream if you are unsure of which flavor to get.
One of my go-to spots for soft serve or dessert in general. Willing to drive into the city & fight for parking spots in Chinatown to fix my Soft Swerve craving. I've tried several of their flavors, and you can't go wrong with any of them but my go-to is the Ube -- it's so hard to stray away from! Great flavors and "not too sweet" which is the ultimate Asian compliment.
Making ube a common flavor! Absolutely love this place! Can't wait to come back and try the other flavor combinations!
Amazing service and the BEST ice cream in NYC. The Ube/Black Sesame was my favorite!
They didn't have the black sesame ice cream (tonight or at all? Not sure) so i settled for matcha on a cake cone. Great portion for the size and really nice flavor. Leans on the match notes more so than the sweetness of ice cream. Highly recommend.
The staff was very friendly and allowed us to sample almost every flavor. The “frozen hot-chocolate” was the winner and paired with the original cone and some fruity pebbles it was incredible! Best ice cream I’ve had in awhile. Will definitely be going back.
Really good! The ice cream was really soft and the combinations are down right amazing! Definitely a great spot for ice cream that has a unique twist!
Yo, Soft Swerve.
Would you like to swerve a bit more west and open shop in LA? Because that'd be totally swell.
I swear you my loyal patronage, and I think your sweet sweet soft serve will make plenty of others swoon.
I miss your delicious swirls so much already. Please come to LA, and be swift!
I did not eat the ice cream, but the friend I was with did. She said the ice cream was not amazing, but it was good. My impression of the place was that it seemed clean and well stocked; all of the posted flavors were available. Staff was friendly. Pricing fair for an ice cream joint.
Good icecream! Colorful and picture graphic!
They have a pic wall lol which isn't great per me coz one should enjoy eating and not doing what I did ( that is click pics lol)
Had the matcha sesame twist, really good flavor but I tend to like my soft serves slightly icier than this
Best black sesame ice cream ever!!!! The line is long but moves pretty fast so don't be intimated if it's half a block down.
Not too hard to find, despite it's location. I would suggest arriving way before closing, as they run out of flavors & toppings, ect. Visited last night, but no more chocolate? Ehh, it WAS pretty darn packed inside, when we got there...so. Must be a pretty well-known place, although I haven't heard of it until last night. Well, the VANILLA they did have, was definitely good. I do recommend! Worker that was there seemed visibly bothered by the lack of options left, however, it was 20 mins before closing on super bowl Sunday. That's on me, though!
A small range of flavours but the combinations are spot on. Ube is really good, even better than the matcha! And it's not too expensive either
Price is high, but the soft serve was delicious. My friends and I shared a match green tea/black sesame and a ube/coconut.
Delicious soft serve ice cream 🍦. Large variety of toppings. Fast service. …
Really love this place ! This ice cream is very creamy and luscious! The staff here is also so welcoming! Great place and highly recommend if youre in the area!
I got the ube soft serve with mochi and a chocolate cone. The texture was very nice and the taste was excellent.
One of the best places in the city to get unique ice cream that can be delicious anytime.
Wow, what a creamy flavorful delicious ice cream
Delicious soft serve!
Soft Swerve has amazingly flavorful, light, and creamy soft serve. It's a spot you can't miss if you love a good dessert. They have 4 main flavors, the ube being the most popular, and rightfully so, as it has such a rich flavor. You will honestly love any of the flavors (although limited) they have. They also have colorful cones for a visual impact, a dark charcoal chocolate cone and a red cinnamon cone.
The ice cream here is good and not too expensive. I always get their green tea or yuzu, can't go wrong with either.
Uniquely delicious flavors and toppings! I love the ube (purple yam) flavor soft serve and fruity pebbles!
I got the black sesame and ube swirl ice cream. It' was *chef's kiss*.
I just can't resist black sesame soft serve ice cream. their ube is very good too.
I love the presentation but ice cream wasn't that special for me. The favors of the ice cream taste like what it is.
New Madame Vo & Hong Kong milk tea flavor is so good. Like hongkongese 鴛鴦
Great tasting. fast service. A little expensive but what isn't expensive nowadays
The ice cream here is good. However, it was very hyped up on social media and I came in thinking I was going to try something mind blowing or at least amazing. The taste is good but it tastes like regular ice cream. It does ,however, look very pretty. So if you are more into aesthetic and having food look nice on social media then this is good for you. However, if you are more of a taste person I would pass. The toppings for the ice cream are nice though. I got mochi for a topping which is something you can’t get every where.
Nice colorful ice creams with unusual flavors. Loved the chocolate cone.
*UPDATE to answer your query
I loved your unique flavors. 5 stars to your ice cream collection. I gave three stars because of the overall ambiance of the place. Such good flavors deserve a little bit more ambiance in terms of the look and sitting arrangements at the place.
Ice cream is absolutely divine here. Ube is my favorite. The ice cream itself is nut free so it’s a good place for folks willing to forgo toppings for good ice cream. The toppings are good but may cause trouble for some but they’re popular with little ones who love things like fruity pebbles. In my experience service has always been good when you can get there at a certain time. But, I’m willing to deal with sub par service when the product is as simple as ice cream. Not much room to sit, and a nice place to go on a date night or with the whole family. This is a special place so don’t go here expecting vanilla.
Woodside = Ube (purple yam) ice cream topped with toasted coconut and lined with mochi. Delicious!
Out of this world flavors that you have never heard of, such as ube (their specialty), which is a purple yam and I must say I was very surprised at how good this flavor of ice cream was. The presentation of the ice cream is top-notch as well, and the atmosphere is very cute. A little pricey at $7 for a medium cup, but a great experience.
Getting vanilla here is like ordering salad at a famous steak place. Get ube or go home.
The ube is so good! I mixed chocolate and ube together and it was fantastic. I wish I got a cone because it would’ve been so pretty with the mochi I added on. I would come back. The people working there are so kind and respectful.
Beautiful presentation of ice cream. Nice customer service. Clean store, opens on time. No restroom available for patrons. The flavors of ice cream are not on the sweet side. Only 1 tested good to me. Looked better than it tasted. Decent texture of the ice cream.
I love matcha. I was ecstatic when I heard of soft serve matcha. It was delicious.
Soft serve ice cream place with flavour not normally available elsewhere. Variety of drizzles and toppings available. Had black sesame and matcha combination. Was nice. Prefer the black sesame. They have 6-8 flavors and you can choose a single or a combination of any 2 you fancy. Generous serving. Friendly and courteous staff.
Love this place. All the flavors were delish! I sampled them all lol! My fav was the purple yam.
Nice clean space, operated by competent teenagers. They offered me samples to try before committing to a purchase. I refused because if you're a lover ice cream what's there not to like?
I had the "College Point" it's one of their specials listed on the board. It contains a mix of Coconut and Ube soft serve Ice cream, drizzled with chocolate syrup and crushed toffee crumbs were spooned generously over the whole cup. By the way, you can order this as a cone as well.
Need I tell you that this was delicious! Great stuff and there's a lot more flavors there for my next time! A must try.
This is a cute little shop in NYC Chinatown and I loved the decorations inside (perfect for a photo op!). The menu only offers four different flavors but you can also get a swirl depending on the two flavors that you want.
We got just the ube soft serve and OMG it was heavenly!! The texture and flavor were so perfect. It also comes with a free waffle crisp topping with Yelp check in!
The staff were very welcoming and helpful. They need to sell tubs of their soft serve!
Ube purple yam ice cream twisted with vanilla and topped with toasted coconut on a Chocolate Waffle Cone!!! Yes please !!! It was so good. Super small shop with Big Flavors !!!
Very tasty soft serve with unique Asian based flavors like ube and black sesame. Very friendly staff. Could've filled the cup slightly more for the price.
Love this place! Favorite ice cream shop in NYC. Ube is the best flavor in my opinion. Pro tip: you can make a combo out of any two flavors, not just the swirl they have on the menu.
Awesome ice cream!!
I LOVE their black sesame!! This is such a gem of an ice cream shop. Simple and delicious!!! Get it! 🙌💖 …
Really amazing ice cream with unique flavors! They're all good but the ube is my favorite - just the right level of sweetness and a super smooth texture.
I like my ice cream not too sweet and without that artificial candy taste. The Ube flavor is that!
They also have my favorite toppings like the palm nut/seed and nata de coco.
Lychee flavor tasted artificial though.
Black sesame flavor is pretty decent!
Fun flavors (ube, black sesame), usually quite busy!
I stop by here one time after grabbing lunch with a friend. It's a very small space but there are a couple of chairs if you want to stay
They have unusual colored ice cream that are absolutely delicious. I had the black sesame and Taro ice cream swirl. I definitely recommend it.
The only drawback to this place is that it's cash only. So just be prepared and take out cash before you go.
Best Matcha/Green Tea ice cream by far!!! Their flavors aren't too sweet and the staff are really polite with great customer service. The variety of toppings available are great and are placed aesthetically on the cone/cup for the Snaps and Insta!
A lot of toppings to choose from and they give you a taste of what flavor you would like, is pretty cool
Favorite Ice cream spot. Nice and creamy for the ube. No spot to seat.
LOVE Soft Swerve. Unusual, delicious soft-serve with a choice of interesting toppings. Very friendly service, both swirled flavors can be had in one serving (great for the indecisive), plus you can taste before committing. It's a toss-up between the dark chocolate and cinnamon (red) waffle cones--both complement the ice cream. One flavor is periodically rotated--try to catch the HK Milk Tea.
Located near Manhattan's Chinatown, this small hole in the wall shop sells really unique and delicious ice cream! They only offer 6 flavors but there is a twist, you can swirl some of them together!
The lychee and green tea swirl was really good but my favorite flavor was lychee by itself topped with freeze dried strawberries in a regular cone.
The service is a hit or miss. During my 3 day trip to NY, I stopped by this place 5 times, and each time I got the same flavor ice cream but the service varied. The worst service I had was when I visited at night and my friend paid an extra $5 for a dusting of freeze dried strawberries while other people got chunks of freeze dried strawberries. I asked if I could be given the same amount as the girls in front of us, their response was that, it would cost us extra. After a little more convincing she unwillingly gave me more without me paying extra. The other 4 times, the service was delightful!
Very friendly staff and beautiful interior. It's a small shop, so keep an eye out for this delectable ice cream shop.
The Ube and Black sesame are superb. Flavorful and the texture is consistent, very fun to eat.
Small cup (under $5) is plenty for 2, ymmv in ice cream binging levels.
The. Absolute. Best. Soft Serve. Ice Cream. I have ever enjoyed. Soft Serve provides a palette of flavors not usually found in ice cream, my favorites being Ube, and Matcha. Their Ube soft serve isn't really comparable to anything else, except maybe taro boba. The matcha is not significantly sweet and catered towards those that enjoy subtly sweet treats. Do yourself a favor and go!
After an early night of food and drink we stopped off for some ice cream at Soft Swerve. The ube and black sesame machines were down but after trying a few generously offered samples I landed on the "Strawberry Fields" combo. It was delicious! I'll definitely be back to try the ube and black sesame.
There is just nothing like an ube/black sesame soft serve ice cream! It is so refreshing and delicious, and you literally cannot find it anywhere besides here.
Great looking cones, but melts faster than you can eat it. Solution: stay in the store where the AC is kicking or eat it faster. I've only tried the Ube, Green Tea and Black Sesame Flavors and they were all really good. I like that they rotate some flavors to make things interesting and will be back to try some more.
So good!!! The matcha chocolate was amazing. I added the captain crunch 😉 …
Delicious ice cream with non typical flavors. Ube, Thai tea, and matcha are amazing. Toppings cost extra. Small place so there's only 2 tables. Located near Grand street station in Chinatown so convenient location
Tasted good. Trash bin needs more emptying.
This is one of the only few places they have Ube Ice Cream, they also have some other type of decorative ice cream with sweet taste and have options for you to design your own ice cream . The price of the ice cream here is a little over price like for a cone ice cream cost you around $6- $12
The Store isn't big but they have around 2 tables
Our dear friend is co - owner, we are extremely proud & super happy of his success! The UBE is out of this world. Super creamy & light. The green tea, almond cookie are great. Now I have to go try their lycee flavor. Here are some pics from a few visits, not all the same day. Weekends get really busy, yet so worth the wait!!! 🔥❤🔥 …
Dang, the black sesame is legitimately delish. My teeth are sensitive from all cold everything but I completely forgot the pain while devouring soft swerve ice cream.
Had the black sesame and matcha swirl. Both flavors tasted good, although the black sesame was the dominant of the two. The black sesame reminded me of the black sesame rolls and desert from my childhood. It had a slight nutty toasted quality that I appreciated. The line was out the door but luckily service is quick. The wait was about 15 minutes. Samples are available and the staff was friendly. Will be back.
Very great ice cream and good service. Place is a bit small
The store is small so when it's busy there won't be much seating available. The quality of the ice cream is good, but the flavor is very strong and if you do not like foods with strong flavors you may get sick of the flavor halfway through.
My favorite place in NYC to get soft serve ice cream. With only 4 flavors, you'd think I would get bored, but the consistency is always perfect and the ice cream is never too sweet. They usually have one special flavor that is rotated out, and their ube, black sesame and matcha are the best in the city.
I love this place! I had the ube & matcha with condensed milk and Oreo cookies. I’ve been waiting for it to get warm so I can get a cone and not turn into an ice cube. Definitely worth checking out especially if you like unusual flavors.
I finally made it to Soft Swerve. I was in the area for dinner one night with a friend, and we decided to head over here for dessert. After seeing everyone post that same Instagram pic against that baby blue watercolored background (yes, I did it too), I finally got to see what the hype was all about.
I had the black sesame soft serve in a chocolate waffle cone with almond cookie as a topping. The almond cookie was a weird choice with the sesame so I'd recommend getting a different topping if you're going to get the sesame. The flavor was really great but it melted very quickly (it wasn't even a hot day). It melted at a much quicker pace than my friend's ube ice cream so just keep that in mind.
Definitely not an everyday treat but I wouldn't mind coming back once in a while whenever I'm in the hood.
The sesame soft serve was delicious and staff were so nice :)
Great service fun flavors. Thai Tea, Black Sesame, Ube, Earl Grey. As with most NYC places, the prices are a little high the only reason for a 4. I had 2 great employees provide excellent service that I even sent an email to the customer service department.
Great soft serve place! It’s not icey or watery. You can feel that it’s made of cream. We had ube soft serve and it was incredibly smooth and not overbearing. You can get toppings but we enjoyed the ube solo in a cone. It’s very minimalist in terms of decor but they have nice walls for your Instagram pictures!
Ube soft serve is yummy and so are all the colorful toppings. There is nothing too unique or special though.. just like other soft serve places. It was a bit expensive but perhaps once a while I'd treat myself to it.
Soft swerved ice cream available throughout the year, perfectly creamy and the right amount of sweetness to it with exotic flavors to pair with... The best! Get yourself a cone of ube (purple ham) and treat yourself to some toppings because who wouldn't want to relive as a 8 year old. Or not since the ice cream is so delicious on its own, you going to find yourself eating this even in the midst of winter. The place is small with limited tables, so take a walk around the parks near you, it would be a trip down the memory lane. Oh, they do have other flavors such as black sesame, choco, combo and etc but omg get the ube.
UBE is delish!!
Amazing ice cream! Many flavour to choose from from and lot of toppings!
Surprisingly good. We had the Taro and Green Tea soft serve with mochi and crumbled Oreos. Overall worth a visit, but will this just be a fad?
I also like their sesame seed and coconut flavors, too.
4.5 to be exact.
The owners of this place, Mike and Jason finally got this establishment opened up just in time for ... winter?!? Well that is okay, they have done a great job so far with it.
I honestly had to come here once I heard they offered Ube soft serve ice cream. I was convinced by the Filipino in me! Once you come in here, this place is very simple, yet clean and to the point. They offer you one of their four flavors (Ube, Matcha, Black Sesame, and Vanilla with the option to swirl Matcha/Black Sesame and Ube/Vanilla), toppings, and option for a cone.
Yes I knew I was already set on getting the Ube, but I wanted to try some of their other flavors first. I have to say the other ones I tried, the Black Sesame and Matcha were well-made. The black sesame was made just how I like it, comparable to other good ones I have had (i.e. Mitsuwa). The Matcha is also a solid option. with no worry of bitterness in the taste. You guys better stay consistent!
Anyways, on to the Ube! I decided to get one of their "swerve specials" called the Woodside, which was the only option that had Ube in it. This special also included toppings of coconut shavings and mochi. I feel coconut always goes well with Ube so it was a nice choice. I also decided to get this on a chocolate cone.
As for the taste?!? Yes it was GREAT! I have been always a sucker for soft serve ice cream, and seeing an ube flavor that was GOOD fully satisfied me. From speaking with the owners, they have worked really hard on this flavor, which yes, does use actual purple yam! I'm sure it was a trying process to have the right ratio of ingredients, but they have made it work. It must be difficult to make a flavor like this for soft serve considering how rare I actually find an ube flavor.
They also have some options for shakes which I may try next time to just get something different.... but it will be hard to do that considering how good the Ube is!
The ice cream is delicious and worth the trek to Chinatown. It's definitely worth the price as well! ♥
My friends and I went to Soft Swerve when it just opened and it was getting so much hype. We waited around 30 minutes to get in. Personally I don’t really like the Black Sesame flavor but that’s just because I don’t like Black Sesame in general. However, I’m not a big fan of ube but their ube blew me away. The reason for the missing star is because I think it is a little bit overhyped and that it’s quite pricey for the amount given.
TL;DR spotty customer service, really good soft serve ice cream, unique flavors like ube, green tea, and my favorite lychee, worth a try!
The next time i'm in NY, hopefully they will still have my lychee ice cream!!!
Heard a lot about Soft Swerve, and it lives up to the hype. Really interesting flavors like ube (purple yam) and black sesame. As odd as those sound the taste will appeal to almost everyone. Fun toppings, not too expensive.
Expensive for soft serve ice cream, but the variety of unique flavors like ube, black sesame, matcha, etc. make it worth. The richest soft serve I’ve ever had and a cute clean decor inside the shop.
They are pretty darn delicious. The black sesame ice cream is my favorite. Like a peanut butter but not as rich and overwhelming. Try the Sunday version!
One of the best Ice Cream I've had in NYC. So rich and just silky smooth. I love their flavors and always have to stop by once a week to get my fix. Place is amazing!
Who doesn't like Ube.. honeslty. But Ube soft serve?! I'm there!
We came here on the first opening day and was so glad we didn't have to wait in line as they went into their opening weekend selling out of ice cream. My wife and I were so glad we go to try it!
The location of Soft Swerve is a little bit out of Chinatown yet not too far that you can't get to after your dinner. It's a good walk to get to depending on where you are but by the time you get there, you'll have room to enjoy your dessert. The space is well put together with a beautifully painted wall for all those Instagram shots. Seating is limited but enough to not feel crowded.
We tried all the flavors and ultimately ordered the Ube. They give a generous amount of toppings and decorates them nicely. The time they take to put this together really makes you want to take a picture of it before you devour it. As I'm writing this, we have gone back a number of times so I've also ordered the other flavors. After trying all the flavors I do have to say the black sesame is probably my favorite (surprisingly... maybe I'm just Ube'd out).
I am really glad they opened a soft serve in Chinatown. They definitely know how to beat the competition by not following foot steps. You know you're doing something right when you come across two dessert spots on the same block and your spot is the one with all the customers :)
Amazing ice cream place with unique flavors and topping
Great service. Got the black Sesame and lychee. Lychee was too sweet
Soft Swerve offers a richly flavored soft serve ice cream in LES. LES has become populated with trendy ice cream and dessert shops. Soft swerve is definitely one of the better ones in that area.
The shop is small and seats ~ 8 people. Since the weather is nice, some ice cream buyers opted to eat outside. Soft swerve lets you try the flavors prior to committing. Which is great since you don't want to be stuck with ice cream that you paid $ 6-8 and you don't like.
I heard so much about the ube flavor but I don't love taro or purple yam very much. So I tried both the ube and matcha and opted for the matcha. My friend got the Brooklyn Bridge special (black sesame with toffee, mochi and caramel drizzle). And she seemed to enjoy her cone!
I loved my richly flavored matcha ice cream! The ice cream was rich, was filled with matcha flavor and had a thicker viscosity than other soft serves. Definitely a unique experience. The middle for the soft serve is hollow, so expect that! Which wasn't a problem since they gave us so much ice cream!
I love how their ube ice cream actually tastes like ube, not taro.
One of the most amazing gems of China Town
The workers are the sweetest.
You can taste before purchasing. Ube is great and I highly recommend coming here with friends, family or alone. Wonderful staff and very cheap considering the area and also the competition. The only advice I wish they would consider is a rewards program because they are that good.
This ice cream is soft and delicious. The ube flavor is a must try. With so many toppings, every single one fits with one another. They sometimes have something new to try by the holiday.
Great customer service and really unique ice cream flavor combos. The ube was great! Some of the other flavors can be a little too sweet but great ice cream none the less.
Came here on a Wednesday evening and there was basically no line at all. The both the ube-macapuno and matcha-black sesame swirl were great! I had the Oreo and almond cookie crumble as toppings, both of which were excellent although I will say that you get a lot of crumbs wasted because they fall off when you're eating it. The shop was clean and aesthetically pleasing. The chocolate cone was nothing to write home about, I think it's more for the look rather than the taste.
My new favorite flavor, almond. Best soft serve!!
I LOVED the ube soft serve. It reminds me of childhood. This is what ube ice cream should taste like. I customized my own: add mochi (+$0.50), black chocolate cone (+$1). And they take credit card!
First, choose your flavor:
- Ube
- Matcha
- Black Sesame
- Vanilla
They also do swirls (combo) of ube/vanilla and matcha/black sesame.
Next, you can add toppings for an extra cost and customize your own or choose from a preset menu.
I'll be back for those shakes and floats.
I've loved ube ice cream all my Filipino-American life. But thanks to Soft Swerve, I now know what I've been missing all that life: ube, IN SOFT SERVE.
Free samples so be sure to try everything. Nothing will disappoint you. Also a nice space to sit, and the staff are all smiles. Don't not visit this place!
Lucky enough, I managed to walk in the store early evening with no one on line. It was finally time to see what all the craze was about. I ordered the ube and black sesame flavor. Since they no longer offered the swirl, they were nice enough to put black sesame on the bottom of the ice cream and ube on top.
After they handed me the cone, and I was on line to pay, my cone started leaking! The cone wasn't well made and there were several cracks throughout the shell. I told the cashier and she handed me a cup to remedy the crack. I had to ask for the manager and ask if the cracks in the cone were a normal occurrence. Just then did he offer to switch my ice cream! I can't believe the staff has such bad training and horrible customer service!
The ice cream on the other hand was unique for the ube flavor, but I don't think it was anything special. Also I think their ice cream is a bit too creamy. Come here to try it out and take your photo, but you can get better ice cream around the corner at Morgensterns.
Saw the posts on Instagram and knew we had to try this place! Love the asian flavours they have... We tried the thai milk tea + ube swirl and it was everything we thought it would be! Sweet, creamy, and sooo yummy! Definitely make a stop if you are in the area.
so so so so cute! We got the Ube and Match flavors on the chocolate cone. The place is super insta friendly, and staffi s very friendly. The ice cream wasn't very sweet, and had concentrated flavors. A must visit!
Had the ube and almond cookie swirl. The colors are Instagram-gorgeous and the toppings are fun, but the actual soft serve is very mediocre. You could get much better soft serve at Blue marble or the milk bar.
Love their ube soft serve ice cream. Toppings are a bit costly, but if you're getting ube, I highly suggest the toasted coconut. It complements it very well. I haven't enjoyed soft serve is such a long time.
Really good ice cream. The toppings are insane. I only wish they had some way of taking your order a bit less rushed. No one was behind me and I felt like I had to hurry. As a result I totally missed a bunch of toppings I would have added. Anyway good ice cream and toppings. Meh service and ease of ordering and I dodged a caloric bullet.
Very good YAM taste Ice cream
What else is there to say? Purple ice cream?!?! Count me in. But seriously, UBE ice cream (tastes like taro) is delicious. I'm a purist so I like my ice cream without toppings or even a cone. I prefer the smooth creaminess of the ube uninterrupted by anything unless that's the spoon of my girlfriend, which in that case I'll let her have some...
But seriously come wait in line for what all the cool kids eat now! Forget the plain boring white or brown ice creams, purple is the new color of ice cream!!
I rarely eat ice cream, but I have a soft spot for soft serve (ha). I got the Woodside - ube with mochi and toasted coconut flakes - in a chocolate waffle cone. Oh happy day! It was everything I could have dreamed of in a cold, sweet treat. I will definitely come back for the Division Street because who uses Reese's puffs?!!!
Saw this place and decided to try it. I was very overwhelmed with all of the flavors they had gathered. You have choices to different flavors ( mine being Ube flavor which I picked) then you have you toppings. If I can recall I believe this place is the one that tried to perfect the right taste and touch to the ice cream they didn't want it to be the right sweetness and at the same time light. Personally I thought it could of been given more sweetness. I'm not sure if adding more stuff to it like chocolate or sprinkles was suppose to add to the sweetness and that's why they made it that way. The only reason why I came here besides the fact I wanted ice cream is because of the Ube flavor. There is 2 Ube flavors though (The regular and the macapuno I think). Just to let everyone know the difference, Macapuno is just added coconut. I just got the regular one, which is the way I personally like it.
Another 'must-try trend' in NYC. Their Ube icecream is a pretty purple and you can up the aesthetics with marshmellows, fruity pebbles, coconut, dried strawberries etc. Perfect for instagram but not your taste-buds.
The icecream flavors available are: matcha, black sesame, ube, vanilla. We tried all four and while black sesame had the most distinct flavour the ube lacked any. After a few spoons it's too much, you're eating straight cold flavorless whipped cream. But you get your $5 photo op so it's okay.
The ice cream flavors are unusual but delicious. There are so many toppings to choose from. It's a small place but worth stopping by for dessert if you're already in the area.
I had ube in a cup with toffee and marshmallows. I loved it. I will come back but it is really out of the way for me. The owner is so low key and seems like a nice guy. I hope they offer more interesting flavors. I missed ube from the Philippines a few years ago.
So good! That Vietnamese coffee ice cream is to die for!
Delicious. The place is tiny though, so if you happen to swing by on a crowded day there probably won't be indoor seating.
Thai iced tea ice cream with matcha green tea..I added crushed oreos and a waffle chip
I don't know why but I always crave this ice cream! They have regular vanilla, ube, sesame, and my favorite, matcha green tea. Their cones come in cinnamon, chocolate, and there is a blue one but I forgot the flavor of that one, sorry. I come here even in the winter cuz the ice cream is that addictive.
Rich ice cream with a variety of flavors and toppings. Looks and tastes amazing
Growing up, the flavors that they've magically made into soft serve are flavors that my mom used to bring home from the #filipino store! I loved them so much more than the Vanilla and Chocolate classics! The one difference though is.... the ice cream my mom used to bring home was in tubs, and definitely no where close to being as velvety as the soft serve you see here! Soft Swerve makes magic at their shop and it's time for you to go and experience it!
When you go, see if they have the little ube snack bags that are crunchy with a ube cream filling! They're delish!
Also, definitely go for the Ube and Macapuno swirl. Worth every calorie!
Soft serve is my preference when it comes to Ice Cream. This place serves ice cream that is superior to most of the ice cream served throughout New York City. This place should definitely be on your list of favorite places to visit if you’re in the mood for ice cream.
Ube has arrived in NYC, and the best place to get the bright lavender colored Ube ice cream is at Soft Swerve. Lines can sometimes be long, and there aren't many seats so get your cone to go. Although, ice cream options may be limited they do specialize in unique flavors including black sesame and cinnamon flavored cones.
Delicious soft serve! I recommend ube. It's so creamy.
It was a great place to stop by in such a hot day. :) the staff was nice too.
Ube flavor was great. One serving is very large, good to share.
Cool experience, the ice-cream is good!
Seriously the best use ice cream around and the Black Sesame is ti die for. On top of that Great customer service.
Only place I know to get Ube flavored soft serve!! Yummy! Enjoyed the Ube/Macapuno combo flavor
Friendly service, cute little shop, delicious ice cream. Enough said.
Nice staff and service. They let my daughter try the ice cream before she ordered it. We ended up with black sesame and ube ice cream with chocolate cone. Love it. Delish 😋. …
First time I’ve tried Ube ice cream and it was delicious! Definitely coming back for another scoop.
I love the ube flavor with the chocolate cone!!! They should open other locations!!! ☺🍦 …
Unique soft serve with an Asian twist. Flavors like purple yam, lychee, and matcha may not be for everyone but those with an open mind will be rewarded. The presentation and colors are also primed for our instagram culture.
This place is famous for their ube flavored soft swerve. They give a very modest portion that I almost couldn't finish. The ube was a bit too sweet for me but that is my personal preference.
The line does get very long and the seating is also impossible. Luckily if you cross the street there are a few public tables and benches.
It was really a fun experience but woth everyone trying all the samples (me included) the line feels like forever.
Pretty great ube ice cream. I got a ube sesame combo and I think the coconut flakes I got over it really brought out the flavors
Not bad but .. not worth to get here from mid town :) $7.89
Amazing ice cream and super cool staff. I had the Strawberry Fields (matcha ice cream, freeze dried strawberries and strawberry drizzle), and I got to try the black sesame. Definitely will be back.
One of the best matcha soft serves I've had in NY. There's a nice balance between the sweetness and slightly bitter taste of matcha. Consistency and texture is just right, definitely check it out if you're in the Chinatown area. They have other flavors as well like sesame if you're into that.
I had green tea and taro ice cream with Oreo crumble and Fruity Pebbles which tasted super smooth and creamy without being overly sweet. Definitely worth the trip and price.
Newest ice cream trend. Staff is very friendly. Line was about a 10 minute wait on an early Sunday evening. Definitely try the Ube soft serve with the dark chocolate cone.
i got the “rockefeller” swerve. tastes super chocolately.
The ice cream was good, but the toppings and sauces weren't worth it. The caramel sauce looked like a sad splash of simple syrup.
The sesame ice cream tastes like peanut butter! To someone with a nut allergy this was amazing. I havent had peanut butter in 10yrs and I almost cried when I tasted the ice cream. Thank you!
Unique flavor and looks super pretty for instagram. The ube/taro flavor is strong but not as strong as some other root vegetables that picky people don't like (for example carrots, radish). Not sure if I will come back again since it's an adventure food.
Variety of flavors that are not usually found elsewhere! Tasty ice cream and unique toppings. Staff is friendly. A bit overpriced for a cone of ice cream. Picture worthy and tasty.
DELICIOUS!!!! I came here with a friend on a 20 degree night and thoroughly enjoyed an ube swirl with chocolate sprinkles 😋 …
Just. Go. Flavors are very cream and rich soft serve with unique flavors such as ube ( purple yam), matcha, macapuno coconunt and black sesame. Amazing ice cream!
Delicious ice cream. Just expensive and it was understaffed. But I tried ube ice cream for the first time and I didn't expect to like it so much! Very unique flavor.
Incredible experience from the moment you walk in the door. Listening to the music, seeing what others have ordered and watching pictures being taken. Hear the explanation of the flavors, try a sample and then listen to recommendations. I went with the Maggie special..
They were very great about social assisting and keeping cleanliness.flavors are limited but you can still get your favorites like the Hong Kong MLT in the pint which I think is more worth it
First time there I took my bff & my daughter. Ice cream is so delicious! Yes that Ube (purple yam) ice cream is everything!!! Can't wait to go again.
The ube (purple yam) is pretty good. A bit pricey though. The charge 50 cent per topping and mochi is considered a premium topping ($1) and they're kinda stingy on the toppings. Cones cost $1 too.
First time trying Ube ice cream here and loved it. They have so many toppings to choose from. Wish there were more locations like this but in DC!
The ube ice cream is amazing!!! I highly reccomend going here. Not a lot of seating because the shop is small, but there is plenty of seating in the small park area just outside in the middle of the road.
I don't often venture into the city. I was brought here by a friend who had heard of the place. The Ube was very good, not too sweet, not too bitter. Also got it with Mochi and golden oreo crumbs. Yum yum.
Ube soft serve is on point!!! Black sesame is a great option also. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very neat cozy shop with a dope graphic wall great for picture taking of your SoftSwerve cone. I'm definitely coming back!!!
The ubbe ice cream was so yummy it taste a bit like vanilla, i enjoyed the toasted coconut flakes and the cone!
Not as tasty as it is cute, but maybe I’m just too conventional in my ice cream preferences? Obviously a photogenic dessert but I was disappointed with the taste. I had the purple yam.
Also, it is August but the ice cream was dripping down my hands in 30 seconds and in two minutes I was racing to eat it as it turned to a puddle in my hand and ran to the garbage to throw it away because I just couldn’t eat it fast enough. My entire had was purple and sticky afterwards. It was a very anxiety inducing situation for me lol
Loved the matcha yakult mix
Delicious! You could try all the flavors and my personal favorites are the matcha green tea and black sesame. The guys that work there are super friendly.
Tastes amazing! Doesn't cost fortune. Customer service is enthusiastic. Will come again!
Highly recommend the Ube - not too sweet, great texture, will definitely be back to try other flavours!
The ube flavor is unique to this store. Ube is good (almost taste exactly like taro). The ice cream itself is very smooth.
Creative. Only one good flavor. Toppings are fun
Can't go wrong with colorful and cute ice cream
A small hole in the wall located in Chinatown. Great flavors like black sesame and ube and delicious toppings like Reeses Pieces Crunch and Fruity Pebbles. Amazing place for dessert!
I never had Ube or Sesame ice cream prior to this (11/9) but I thought I’d give it a try. It was so good. I got the Ube and Sesame swirl. It was nutty and slightly sweet. I plan to return! My son had the frosted hot chocolate and loved that
Weirdest ice cream ever but so worth it trying!!
The unique flavor and combinations are only limited by your mind. The soft creamy goodness is really unique and you can't get anything like this better around. Definitely worth the wait.
Awesome place! I like their unique variety of ice creams they have. They also have a small seating area as well. I'm planning on going back there!
Super nice staff!! It was my first time there and they were really polite about it. They have some unique flavors that I never knew about. Will be bringing my friends from NJ there next time!
Deliciously decadent. I will be back for more. Had the Ube Lychee swirl. I am in love.
Awesome place!!!! Great ice cream flavors. My wife and her family loved it. The staff was super nice and friendly. I can't wait to go back.
I sought out this place after seeing it on IG. It's a small place has 2 or so tables for seating, with some unique flavors I didn't know what to choose. It was good ice cream
My friend and I came here at around 5 and somehow managed to beat the line. I never heard of Ubi ice cream but one of the employees let me taste it before I bpught the whole cone and I'm so glad she did. This place is worth the hype
Great service. Ice cream is soft, rich, flavorful been here several times with friends and family. I love the Ube with black sesame
They have a couple unique Asian flavored, but most special is their delicious ube soft serve ice cream.
OMG! I swear I almost never leave reviews, even bad ones.. but I think I ate here everyday for the last two weeks
A really unique, quintessentially Chinatown soft serve experience, featuring colors and flavors that you wouldn't expect to see elsewhere in the city. The taro soft serve is mad tasty.
Loved the Ube flavor and their selections of toppings.
Cheap, but really good looking soft serve ice cream. Nice option for Instagram, but don't take large size, most likely you won't finish it.
Ube soft serve is awesome. Pay the extra for the cone (worth it) and you’re set. I recommend eating in shop or find somewhere to sit because that soft serve is way to distracting to be wandering NYC.
Very cool laid back and friendly environment! The ice cream is delicious and very smooth. Toppings galore! Must try if you're in NYC!
Black sesame flavor is good. The staff was not super friendly, ice cream serve is hollow inside inside so expect less 🍦 than appears …
I'd say just go if you're in the mood for tasty, creamy black sesame, ube, or matcha soft serve.
Went for the lychee soft serve since lychee is my all time flavor of all flavors. It was a very light flavor, not too sweet which was good! Clean and fast service!
The ice cream as well as the service was good. Would definitely recommend
This ice cream has flavors I don’t normally think about. Was never one for cereal on ice cream but here it seems to make sense, get that instead of this.
Ube w Fruity Pebbles rocks!
Good soft serve but has deceptive pricing
The ube soft serve is to die for - colorful, delicious, fun. Lines can be a bit long, but worth it. Sometimes the center of a serving is hollow, which is a bit annoying, but still great product.
It's my favorite place for sesame ice cream, not to mention they also have taro flavour, which is a rare treat.
Never been there. Only passed...from the looks of the ice cream it looks good. Think I may go there this week.
Yummy. Great flavors and just the right price. I'd post a pic. But I gobbled my Matcha ice cream.
A Chinese Filipino Ice Cream shop with a variety of interesting and amazingly delicious flavors of which the stars are the Purple Yam and Black Sesame selections.
Stopped by real quick on my way to Walmart in nj and wow !!! I got the ube with a chocolate cone and sprinkles mhmmmm
Very delicious, the matcha and black sesame flavors taste really good! Definitely recommend coming here.
The purple yam ice cream is amazing, tastes just like taro bubble tea, and the green tea ice cream is the best I've ever had.
Love the odd flavors, not somewhere you go for basic vanilla, live on the wild side and grab one of their interesting flavors such as purple yam and sesame seed.
Best ever flavors amazing variety amazing
My check out experience wasn't great because the girl working the cashier was very rude to my cousin and I when explaining our payment options.
Loved the ice cream though!
Ube is the best flavor. I come by whenever in the area. $5 minimum for credit cards. That's the only reason is 4 stars because credit card minimums are ridiculous nowadays.
Ube flavor was so unique. That paired with mochi - omg I could live off this stuff! 😍 …
Their ube and black sesame soft swerve ice cream are delicious and it tickles the palate... 👍 …
Had the strawberry fields. The strawberry tasted fake like flavoring :( the green tea soft serve was awesome tho. Mochi was decent.
Great ice cream here. seasonal ice cream is always a good try if you don't want the usual awesome Ube.
Really nice costumer service and good soft serve.
30 degrees outside won't stop you from enjoying their Ube and macapuno swirl!. Closes at 11PM. They take Apple pay, Visa, MC and Discover. They have 4 tables and 8 seats.
First time trying Ube flavoured anything and OhMyGod! If you like chocolate you will definitely like Ube soft serve.
Can’t go wrong with this place. Sometimes the line is long, but it moves quick.
Long lines, but worth it. The ice cream isn't like your typical soft serve. It is super thick and indulgent.
Some of the best soft serve ice cream I've ever had. I love the flavors here.
Very strong taro, black sesame, and matcha flavors. Hard to find soft serve versions this good in the US.
Haven't been to ny in a while so finding this place was this was the Cherry on top 😉 I don't like coconut anything but their coconut ice cream was amazing …
So delicious. Wish there wasn't always a line
This place is good, the Ube and Macapuno Coconut swirl was tasty.
Delicious ice cream , and fast friendly service
I love Ube in general but I went here for the first time amd loved the HK tea. Also large serving with the cone
Ube is so damn good!! I should've gotten the twist with black sesame though but I'll get it next time 😁 …
good soft serve but don't wait 30 minutes plus as most do.
10/10 favorite soft serve in the area. Ube and black sesame 🥺 …
Their ice cream is delicious! Had the matcha/black sesame swirl.
Best new ice cream shop hands down!
Green tea, black sesame, coconut and ube are must tries!
Good soft serve ice cream... With Asian flavors.. Not too sweet so you can have much more.
they change their menu of flavors periodically, but i always get the ube swirl regardless. they're great, give it a try
Had to try it after a friend found out about it that is lactose intolerant. The ube flavor is hard to describe, it's weird but a good weird.
Ube ice cream is very smooth and delicious
Unique and delicious! Our daughter the"purple princess" is elated to have found this purple ube ice cream❣
The original, unique flavors (ube, matcha, black sesame) and really nice service.
I was scared of these flavors but they are so delicious!! Cute shop with a great dessert.
That black sesame ice cream was bangin. The ube ice cream was potentially even better. Very good
My Favorite place for soft serve the ice cream is delicious
Cute little shop, I absolutely love the ube and sesame ice creams. Sweet and creamy deliciousness.
The black sesame ice cream was delicious, i tried it with Reese's puffs, even better!!
Awesome flavors, toppings, and cones. Hate that it's only one person making the ice cream for what becomes a huge line at all times.
Do not underestimate soft serve ice cream. This is the best soft serve I have ever had, holy crap it's so good.
Ice cream was amazing. The customer service was the best part. I'll definitely be going back.
Please sell vegan soft serve too!!!
Amazing employees and amazing affordable icecream.
its so cute and yummy! the purple yam is some of the best soft serve ive ever had ☺️
The best ice cream ever! Cutest colors and yummy flavors and toppings
Very clean place and great ice cream
All 4 flavors are delicious. The staff was friendly and they let you have samples. I'll come back.
The ube soft swerve is amazing. A must stop everytime were in town, even if it's 30 degrees out, seruosly so good!
Literally the best ice cream I have ever had in my life .
Great ice cream, grab the purple colored ice cream as its their best seller
I liked it! The employee got my order wrong but it was still good. Wish the place had charging ports.
Super cute ice cream place! I think the flavors can be even stronger
Was hesitant because they didnt have the orthodox flavors such as vanilla and chocolate but this purple yam was amazing.
Ice cream was ok but nothing stood out
The ube black sesame swirl with toasted coconut was delicious, the high ratings of this place is not just hype
I loved this place so much, I had to return for a second time while in NYC. Interesting flavors, great toppings.
It was great!!! They have so many different flavors.
Can't get enough of the Ube and black sesame soft serve!! Love the twists
One of the best ice cream places in NYC!
Great flavors!
I wish the surrounding scene was cleaner and felt self.
Tried a mix of Ube (purple yam) and Almond Cookie, which was unique and quite tasty.
The matcha & black sesame flavors were delicious.
Super tasty yam ice cream!
Delicious and beautiful ice cream! Gl
Try the Ube/Macapuno swirl on a chocolate cone with toasted coconut and fruity pebbles, it's absolutely divine.
The best ube ice cream I’ve had and I thought was very reasonably priced. 😋 …
Asian flavors inspired ice cream
Tried it out last night. Ordered the Ube on a cone. Delicious, such a unique flavor.
Very unique ice cream flavors like taro, and pineapple.
Awesome flavours and toppings.
Will definitely recommend to friends and family when visiting NYC.
This place is nearly just as good as Taiyaki except they don't serve Taiyaki (fish shaped fried dough with filled red bean paste), of course.
The ice cream had good flavor. I loved the cinnamon cone
I at some kind of ice cream flavored doo-hickey. Wanted more.... Had to walk away or it would have only been more now!.....
This is a must. Ube is the most interesting and flavorful desert! If you are in NY stop in and try this.
Amazing ube ice cream! It is nice and creamy, definitely worth it!
Great ice cream!! So good!! Definitely comes back
Although the place is cramped and there’s generally a wait, it’s completely worth it. The purple yam ice cream is amazing!
Come here for some Asian flavored soft serve ice cream. Purple Yam and black sesame
If you like green tea in ice cream form, definitely recommend you stop by.
Amazing! The icecream was great and so was the customer service. There was no wait at all either
The coconut ice cream was to die for. Lower East side is great if you can't decide
Fantastic soft serve. Line out the door but it moved quickly. Worth traveling off the normal tourist path for.
Wow! Worth the line. Black sesame and matcha swirl in a regular cone with drizzle and oreo. Yes yes yes!
Smoothest ice cream ever. Great texture and not too sweet.
Nice cute place with minimal seating. I got the ube ice cream and it was delicious!
Ube & Seasome swirl complimented each other, overall a different enjoyable experience.
The Ube and matcha are worth trying but the consistency is a bit thick for my liking
Thick creamy ice cream with a variety of toppings and suggested combinations. Usually a long line, so allow yourself time to wait.
If you want to surprise your date with something s/he probably never had, you should probably bring them here. I swung by after hearing about how I should try this and I must say, I'm glad i did.
Ube soft serve.. not so sweet. Perfect to put toppings and whatnot to enhance the experience.
Delicious ice cream and reasonably priced. Will definitely be back for more!
Love the ube (purple) soft serve
Good ice cream with creative flavors and toppings. Looks absolutely beautiful
Flavors are light and delish. Lots of toppings but the place is small.
Very tasty ice cream. Portions are big and service is very friendly.
Amazing! Thought I died and gone to heaven 🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦 Got the Ube (purple and vanilla) with a dusting of Oreo cookies! …
Unique flavors and friendly staff. There's always a line because it's so good!
Such a friendly staff. Ice cream was so unique and delicious!
Icecream is amazingly good and the staff is friendly. One of favorite places❤
Really great matcha soft serve. Almost as good as in Japan!
Taro ice cream swirl was good
