This is the cornerstone staple of ice cream with a lot of unique flavors. The best part are the creative designs for the flavor names. We ordered the cake batter flavor and oatmeal lace. Unfortunately the cake better flavor didn’t really taste like cake batter but maybe next time it will. There are so many other flavors, it is definitely worth a shot. Alsothe oatmeal lace has a strong Cinnamon taste, so go for it!

The vanilla ice cream with blackout cake and choc pudding was outstanding! Took first bite while crossing the road and stopped short in wonder and awe, then an oncoming bus honked his horn and got me going again. I like how each borough gets its own flavor… here in Greek Astoria, we get one with baklava from a local Greek patisserie 🇬🇷❤️ I also love how it’s all made in a factory in redhook… a New York institution! Very very delicious ☀️

Amazing & unique flavors, allows samples! A little too much sugar for me but I don’t mind a little indulgence here and there. I got the ooey gooey butter cake sundae with a scoop of ooey gooey butter cake ice cream, hot fudge, and ooey gooey butter bites.

Best ice cream in Astoria! Very hard to decide, because every flavor sounds delicious. Tonight I tried the “it came from gowanus” and the “spruce goose“ - both was amazing! I also love the interior of Ample Hills, it’s so retro and cute.

My favorite NYC ice cream chain - have their Nectar of the Queens flavour which is special to the Astoria branch - with bits of baklava and other exotic ingredients - you’ll love it. Even though I only (mostly) get chocolate flavors, I enjoyed this unique flavour! Also tried the orange and the caramel ice creams - the latter was better. Additionally also got the potato chips and M&Ms ice cream which was fun !

Creamy homemade ice cream. Several unique flavors to choose from this place will have your head spinning. There is usually a long line but it moves quick. I had the Mexican hot chocolate which was very good. Spicy ice cream that cools your mouth but leaves your tongue and throat tingling. I also had the pistachio flavor. It was not too sweet and had bits of brittle for a nice crunch.

I love the ice cream here! They have a variety of flavors, not just your typical vanilla or chocolate. My favorite is Snap, Crackle, Pop! Ample Hills also has season flavors as well as one unique to each location.

This is by far the best ice cream I’ve had so far. Now I see why there would be long lines during the summer for this place. This is a must try when your around the area and in the mood for great quality ice cream.

Most delicious icecream! They have a large selection of fun crazy name icecreams. Different flavor cones sundays, floats, milkshakes. Also theres a small kids play section in the back, super cute. Fun colored tables for eating in and since the weather is nice there where red chairs on the outside, perfect for a cool picture. My son had the vanilla kids cone with rainbow sprinkles and it was amazing. I highly recommend you try this place. There is no parking structure but who cares! Street parking can get tricky because its in a busy area but totally worth it!

I really liked Ample Hills (Astoria location). Their ice-cream is very good, my fav flavour was cookies & cream, we also tried the summer of love and vanilla with gummy bears on top. We got pretzel cone for the 3 of them, i personslly didn’t like the contrast of flavours, the cone was too salty in my opinion. The place is super cool and the manager very nice! I went there for a vlog, video coming out soon on You Tube!

Awesome ice cream shop, they have plenty of funny flavors, mostly remakes of regular ones. We tried their mango sorbet and it is one of the best I ever had. From the color of it you can tell there is not much water in but mostly mango puree and it is amazing. Their strawberry ice cream is simple and also great, but if you like fruits go for the mango ! They have a few seats indoor, but lot a lot. Great place, will come back soon

Currently $4.75 for kids, $5.35 for adult scoop. $7.50 large, $10.50 pints, $9.00 for prepacks pints. Ask for cones for your dish. Walt Whitman wrote "Brooklyn of Ample Hills." The namesake ice cream store is expanding again outside of Brooklyn to long lines. Happily they have done this so much that they didn't run out of the most popular flavors. Apparently different locations have exclusive flavors We enjoy many flavors but tonight opted for the butter pecan brittle, like butter pecan meets the brulee of creme brulee. It has that slight burnt or brulee taste. Excellent. AHC is a bit pricey for me but I don't dare give this less than 5 Stars, it is my daughter's favorite and she wouldn't forgive me. I never went to Ben & Jerry's original retail store but I imagine AHC to be similar but with NY & today's sensibilites. I think of AHC like I do Neapolitan or NY Neapolitan style pizza, They are fabulous artisan products but I prefer better value in my neighborhood. So go to Trader Joe's and buy the private label Double Rainbow ice or something cream or sorbet. High quality for a fraction of the price, add your own candy bars...

Delicious homemade ice cream shop with 20 flavors to choose from. You can't go wrong with the signature Ooey Gooey Butter Cake flavor. I also tried the Pistachio Squared which was amazing but might be a little too sweet for some people. I had to wait about 20 minutes on line but that's only because it was opening weekend. I'm sure it won't be as bad in the middle of the week.

Ice cream was out of this world!! Room to sit. I heard the line sometimes can be outside and around the corner but I was lucky enough to make it there while it wasn't too packed! I had the ooey gooey cake ice cream and it was delicious I'd recommend it to anyone who likes butter cake, it forces a smile on the faces of those who fall victim to its familiar sweetness💯

Has really good ice cream, more on the soft side if you have a preference. The flavors are on the more traditional side with fun twists and combinations. Definitely get some toppings to enhance the experience and they also have birthday cake waffle cone which looked really good.

The line to get in was outside the store. I imagined it would taste good if people were willing to wait 20 plus min for icecream. It didn't disappoint. I tried 4 flavors , cotton candy, mango sorbet, vanilla with baklava and salted cracked caramel. Just writing this makes my mouth water again. Even though it was super busy the staff was pleasant. The atmosphere of an old hometown parlor. Some flavors were out of stock but understandable. The line was still long at 9.45 PM when we left.

I love Astoria and always claim it has it all, but the one thing it was really lacking was ice cream. Enter: Ample Hills. Holy smokes it’s good. I’m unfortunately lactose intolerant and had to opt for the coconut-based fudge ice cream (which was frankly just okay), but I sampled small tastes of other flavors which were amazing. The staff assured me more dairy-free options are on the way. Yay!

Many flavors to choose from. The staff was great and was very helpful explaining the flavors and supplying samples. The place was very clean with plenty of seating. There are also benches outside to sit on a warm day to people watch while having the yummy ice cream.

Riddle me this. My wife ordered a milkshake and asked for some toppings mixed in. These are the same toppings they put on sundaes and cones. But they refused to put them in the milkshake. I ask why and they only said that's the policy. Can someone please explain this to me? Are the laws of physics different in ample hills? Do they have a special milkshake machine that will have its calibration affected by a few m&Ms and sprinkles? It literally makes no sense. To make matters worse, they had such an attitude about it, as if we were crazy for asking. I did like my ice cream though. Could have been a five if they would only pour some toppings in a cup.

It's hard to beat this place for creamy and delicious and true ice cream. If there is a flavor that sounds good to you, then there is a very good chance it may be the best you've had of that flavor. I would highly recommend the neighborhood flavor where they pick a local restaurant and make it part of the many flavors to choose from. You at least have to ask for a small taste. I'm pretty sure you get 3 tastes before you get a dirty look. Ha! Jk about the dirty look, not the 3 tastings. Then again, you may get a dirty look from the person behind you who has been waiting 15 mins for his/her taste. It's not cheap, but it's worth it at least once..mmmm...maybe at least twice. As an aside, if you love ice cream, go to the store (some Fairways have it) and pick up some specialty and pricey ice cream called Graeter's. Save me a bite and thank me and Chris.

There is only ONE place in the world I think thats better, and that is in a gelato shop in Italy thats been making gelato for 150 years...so stiff competition. But as far as the US is concerned? Great ice cream with a nice selection of unusual flavours, my 3rd visit now. My only criticism is there's too much stuff in the ice cream, I had the coffee flavour with chunks of cookie in it, the ratio of cookie to ice cream was high, it was mostly cookie, maybe it's my European palate but less is more sometimes, I like some ice cream in my ice cream. Will definitely be back anyway to try the other varieties :-).

Been here twice. The ice cream is out of this world. Second time was a Friday night and it was super crowded and line took a while. The first time was daytime and the people working are super nice. They have patience with you trying all their unique flavors and when they give you different sizes they just have different sized scoops in the same size cones (of which there are a few different kinds.). I think the look inside is lackluster and not worth sticking around.

This is a fairly new ice cream, opened only a couple of months back. The service is good, the staff is friendly and funny. Sufficient quantities ffor the price. I personally did not love it much because I found the sundae to be too sweet to my liking. Some people may like it though. You should probably try once and decide for yourself.

If you're not keto, this is amongst the best icecream in queens. They make my husband's absolute favorite milkshake! To the point that we've driven from Nassau County to Astoria, just because he needed his fix. I don't blame him, it's pretty good stuff. They have a great mix of flavors, and something for everyone. The pretzel cones are yummy as well!

This place is so hipster it hurts. Make no mistake, the ice cream is excellent and the flavor combinations are very creative. But at these prices you're really paying more for the brand than the actual product. On weekends there are literally lines out the door but this branch is new so that may just be the initial popularity. By all means give it a try. It's the perfect respite in the middle of a hot New York summer.

The hype is real. During the summer, Ample Hills typically has a line that curls around the block-- we found the key is to go when it's late or when the weather isn't perfect (basically anytime that isn't obvious ice cream weather). The portions are generous, which is good, as the prices are on the higher end of acceptable (I never leave feeling gypped). The flavors are delightful-- the strawberry tastes like real snozberries, I mean, strawberries, and the chocolate is decadent. The staff is usually efficient and pleasant, though during a recent visit, I did see a staff member get short and impatient with someone who was clearly a tourist with limited English skills (this is Astoria, we have tons of people who speak English as a second-language, so they should have chilled). However, this seemed like a one off, and all my visits have been positive.

I live next door and it took me a while to try their wonderful icecreams and homemade crispy cones. I've tried more than half of their flavors, but chocolate ones are still my favorite! They also serve coffees, soft drinks and sell custom made cakes! It's a covenient location, the corner of 30th Avenue & 34th Street.

Ice cream is amazing, but two things just feel off about this place. 1. They keep changing the prices and sizes of ice cream every few weeks to make it more expensive 2. After you've ordered, gotten your ice cream and are about to pay they ask again what you got, that say it's for inventory, but if you're getting it for a group, it can be hard to remember what everyone got.

I'm glad this is in the neighborhood because it's nice to have options but I feel like Ample Hills is hugely overrated (or at least this location is). The quality of the ice cream is better than others in the neighborhood, sure, but the flavors are mediocre at best. I personally don't think battling their ridiculous lines and facing sub par counter service for an average ice cream experience is worth the effort.

If your'e the kind of person who is satisfied by choosing between vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry, then you're probably not going to be interested in this place. Buuuut... if you're intrigued by flavors like Ooey Gooey Butter Cake, Oscar Night, & Salted Crack’d Caramel then you must check out this ice cream shop! I've tried all three of these flavors. They're all creamy and sweet. I got a milk shake once with the Dark Chocolate and it was just okay. (I'll stick to making them myself at home with Breyers Ice Cream!) The place tends to get very long lines when the weather is nice (go figure!) and the prices aren't cheap by any means. But for a once in a while treat it's worth checking out! Oh, and make sure you get a card to get stamped that gives you one free ice cream after ten purchases! I've gone here over a dozen times and only today was I made aware of these!

Truly excellent quality and very fun, unique flavours (including ones with chunks of cake, or different cereals). A must-try for sure! The only down-side is that most of the flavours are overly-sweet and there isn't a large variety (like more subtle/nuanced options, more tart/fruity options etc.).

Go to ice cream spot in Astoria. The kid size is plenty of ice cream for one person. You can select 2 flavors with any size! This is my 3rd time at this spot, all the flavors are great. Ample Hills is possibly the best ice cream in NYC. So many interesting flavors, it's hard to choose just one. "Ooey Gooey" is my favorite, but also try "Nectar of the Queens," you can only get it at the Astoria location. There is usually a line out the door in the warmer months, but you can sit at a table and enjoy ice cream here year round.

First time there and i am impressed! Various unique flavors mixed with eveything you can think from pistachio/baklava, cereal, many more. I guess you can say its a little pricey but it is filling! Expect a line once you go there but surprisingly the line went by pretty quickly, and give you time too look over their options. I took home a pint Mango Sorbet($10) and it was amazing! Taste just like a mango. i'd recommended you give them a try if you havent yet

Accidentally found Ample Hills Ice Creamery and what a find! Its refreshing to find a local NY homemade ice cream shop. The ice cream flavors are delicious, atmosphere is bright and playful and the servers are friendly even during the rush. We had the Ooey Gooey Butter Cake and Cream and Cookies. Both were silky smooth and hit the spot. We were there on a hot Sunday night around 9pm and the line was to the door. It moves, but may be too long if you have young kids with you. Ample Hills has several locations in Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan and Jersey City, NJ.

I have some stomach issues status post ice cream consumption 90% of the time. If it really boils down to it, I opt for frozen yogurt. THAT BEING SAID... Ample Hills is a YES all the way. Extreme yes. The staff is polite and helpful. They have some good ice cream flavors. I do struggle to understand the reason for the long lines outside. I recommend you go at a time when you do not have to wait 10-15 mins in the line, it's good but not worth waiting that long for.

Ample Hills Creamery has 20 interesting flavors to choose from, and clean tables. Ample Hills had some of the most interesting flavors out there, such as Chocolate ice cream filled with cookie dough and Baked by Melissa cookies (a.k.a A Kids Dream.) They also have 2 sorbets, but no regular flavors. The tables are much cleaner than most Ice Cream shops I have been to (at least cleaner than Ben & Jerry’s.) The atmosphere is ok for an Ice Cream Shop, and the service is also ok.

You can tell someone's review isn't about the ice cream as soon as they mention the word "hipster." It's the catch-all word that means "I'M ANGRY THAT SOCIETY HAS EVOLVED! WHY AREN'T THINGS THE WAY THEY USED TO BE?!?!" (For what it's worth, the 12 people currently in this store are a fascinating and diverse cross-section of New York City, and at least by judging on appearance, I wouldn't call any of them a hipster.) The fact of the matter is that locally-sourced, quality ingredients cost significantly more than mass-produced mediocrity. If you want cheap ice cream, you can find Baskin & Robbins a few blocks away, but if you want ice cream that's jammed full of tasty ingredients with tons of texture, Ample Hills is the place for you. Most flavors tend to have big, chunky adjuncts, but there are a couple of smooth flavors, as well. Each Ample Hills has a signature flavor that can only be found in that store, and Nectar of the Queens is ideal for anyone who loves honey, cinnamon, and baklava.
