Reviews of Angelo Brocato
What a great Italian gelateria. The family is working there.they are warm and welcoming. They let us try many different flavors of Gelato. We loved the ice cream. One of the best ones in the US yet. Very authentic. Parking outside is very limited. There is a line usually.
Loved... Recommend it for a hot afternoon snack.
Wow. So many choices, all delicious. Cute old school atmosphere, helpful staff that can help make recommendations. A must if you're near magazine street
Don't forget to try a canoli. Super sweat but worth it. I don't have a pic of it because it disappeared so fast 😋
Just walk in and you will immediately realize why you are here and it will blow your mind and sugar level. The gelato was delicious, not a bad flavor had by our group. Of course we ordered pastries because....well look at that case!
Seriously, this may be some of the best gelato I've ever had. For context as a Brooklyn Italian from Sicily, I'm no stranger to ice cream. Please treat yourself and the prices are super affordable
First time coming here after hearing great things about the gelato! It didn’t disappoint! Didn’t take pictures but the bananas foster Cheescake was amazing and so was the cannoli!
I'm so glad we stopped here for Gelato. Loved the atmosphere, the staff was so nice, and the Gelato is legit! Really good!! Definitely coming back.
went here for dessert after dinner! Really cute little shop with vintage vibes. AND SO MANY DELICIOUS ITALIAN DESSERTS.
Angelo Brocato has been serving up amazing gelato, Italian ice, and pastries in New Orleans for over 100 years. We tried many different things, but the straciatella gelato and bananas foster cheesecake stood out. Great stop after a good dinner, and the line wrapped down the street by the time we left. We will be back!
Visited here after dinner on our recent trip. Wonderful atmosphere. Every employee still had a smile an hour before closing. We sampled a variety of treats- rum cake, amaretto cheesecake, pistachio cheesecake, and cream horns. Amaretto and pistachio were our favorites.
Always good. I had spumoni and friend had tiramisu. Flavorful, fluffy, delicious. Great service also . Beautiful case with large assortment of pastries and cookies you can't find in other stores.
I asked if they would make me an affogato and they did even tho it was not on the menu (ice cream with espresso and whipped cream).
It was delicious. Very well balanced, sweet and hot and cold at the same time.
All the people I was with enjoyed their desserts as well. They had different flavours of gelatos, all good.
We arrived just before they closed and the satff was still very nice and welcoming with us. The line moved super fast too.
I would recommend this place to anyone with a craving for sweets!
Always a pleasant experience!! Haven’t tried anything I don’t like but their cannolis are my favorite.
Best cannolis in New Orleans! Always fresh. The canoli isn't made until you order it. 😊 A business like this could make a fortune on the northshore! …
My family has been going here since the 70s and we love it! The best cannolis I've ever had! Love all the Italian cookies! Don't pass them up!
Great place for ice cream and gelato! I randomly found this place as I was looking for some ice cream on a hot and muggy afternoon. Pleasantly surprised at how good the gelato was! The pistachio almond seems to be a crowd pleaser! The baked alaska was great too! Highly recommend!
Excellent pistachio nut gelato but...this serving is a bit too small isn't it 🤔 …
The best ice cream in the world. The cannolis are made fresh to order. Great pastries too. All this plus top notch coffee.
Small, quaint cafe. They have beautiful pastries and gelato. There are weird a few people working so you can get your treats and check out quickly.
I got the macarons, which were delicious! I also ordered pistachio gelato and it was also delicious--creamy but light with real pistachios in it!
Nice little place for desserts and gelatos. Delish Canoli, Tiramisu, Spumoni etc. Not overly sweet. Gives me an European bakery vibes. Gets very busy all the time and may have a 5-10 minutes waiting time.
Soooo good! We had ice cream and I got a cookie and my husband got some kind of rum cake. Everything was perfect! The ice cream was so creamy and had such a great flavor. The rum cake was super moist but not mushy. There are so many things I want to try so we will definitely be back.
Oh, how I love this place. I literally stop by every Thursday night after grad school. I'm not even a licorice fan, but those anise drops are amazing. They were actually out of them a few weeks ago, but one of the ladies ran in the back and was able to find some for me. She even dropped a few extra in my box. I am a big fan of their ricotta cake, blondies, and Napoleons as well. Recently saw them on a television show where they talked about the cannolis. I have to agree that they are some of the best in the world. The store is always clean and I love that they rotate some of the items so that there is always something new each time you come in. I haven't tried the gelato, but it looks amazing and people are always there buying it. I will be there this Thursday like clockwork to get my sweet tooth fix. Cannot recommend these folks enough. This is true New Orleans!
Great place in old town New Orleans to eat bakery or dessert. I highly recommend the gelato, it is ultra smooth and very flavorful. There are a lot of small pastries that make great gifts if you want to take some things home for friends and family.
Updated review. Still amazing desserts, amazing employees!
Amazing ice cream, desserts, wonderful atmosphere, lovely place! Everyone should come!
What an amazing place. To have a cannoli filled on demand is fantastic. The cakes and all the baked goods were just right. No wonder they’ve been in business for over a 100 years. I did a FaceTime sessions with my kids while we were hear and my kids were upset that we went there without them so they demanded that we ship them some cake back to California.
I loved this place! The salted caramel gelato, almond cookies and cannoli is delicious!
Absolutely spectacular! The gelato was smooth and flavorful. I got praline flavor. The counter staff was very polite and quick on their feet. I loved the atmosphere. Very old world, but not stuck up. Comforting, even. The location was easy to access and wasn't sketchy. I wanted to eat everything! They have cakes, cookies, pies and pastries as well. I can see why they've been open for over 100 years. Highly recommend!
You have to love this place. Authentic Italian pastries in the heart of New Orleans. It's one of those places your family has been going to for generations. #Geauxeat
Very comfortable atmosphere. Very good service. Very good selection pastries and gelato. Ordered amaretto, caramel, and orange was my absolute favorite❤️🇮🇹🍧very delicious …
The best, just absolutely the best for your Italian desserts.
I had a cream puff and an affagoto. Please get anything and everything you want from this menu! It is an experience!
My family absolutely LOVES this place. When we first moved to New Orleans a year and a half ago, this was one of the first places I just had to check out and I'm so glad I did!! Simply the best tiramisu I've had since I was in Italy, the coffee is outstanding and I cannot recommend the cannoli enough. My daughters love the gelato so much, and I'm not ashamed to say we've had dessert for dinner because Brocato's is just that outstanding. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming! One of our favorite places in the City.
When you want the best Canoles, and cappuccino this is the place. Outstanding Italian ice cream and other desserts It may be out of the way for some tourists but if you have a car it is a place to go
One of the oldest and best Sicilian - Italian bakeries in the South for cookies, cakes and cannoli. You can also sit inside to enjoy a coffee or gelato.
Everything we had was fantastic. The tiramisu cake and connoli were our favorites. The eclair was a bit of a let down because it tasted a little too sweet and didn't taste as light as we thought it would be. Overall, everything was surprisingly affordable for the quality of the things that you get. Would definitely come back next time!
I had the passion fruit gelato, it was delicious and fresh tasting. There were a lot of flavors and other pastries to try from. The staff was very polite and happy. I thought the gelato price was higher than it should be, but it was delicious so I would come again
Yum yum yum yum yumminess!!!!! Try a cannoli and the spumoni!! Take home bags of cookies! You will not regret it. The staff are very nice and you feel transported to an older era of family run eatery, enjoying recipes that must be traditions past down through generations.
One would think that with the constant line out the door and the extremely high quality products that this place would be expensive. It is very affordable. You can grab one of the best and fair portioned slices of tiramisu for less than $4.00. They also have hard to find items such as spumoni. Everything is done right and with care. Even though there normally is a long line, it moves very quickly as their staff is on point and ready to make things happen quickly. Definitely friendly place to take family, a date, the kids, anyone would enjoy this place.
Some of the best desserts in the city - let alone the gelato- all of it taste homemade - actually it is - great cannoli - easy to get something cool and sweet to take the summer heat away...
Consistently delicious! Does anything else matter?
This place seems to employ mostly teenagers I'm sure that keeps the cost down as they generally have a lot of people behind the counter to keep things going smoothly since their customer volume is so high. Everything I've ever had was delicious and fresh and always keeps me coming back for more.
1/7/23 update: still phenomenal
It was excellent, as always, and it was not too full. Had the limoncello cake and some yummy gelato (can't remember which one, something unusual). My only problem with Brocato's is the noise, but I guess with hard walls and hard floor and hard ceiling, that's to be expected.
Sooo good! I’ve never been a huge cannoli fan but theirs are delicious
Loved the rum raisin gelloto, was soooo great!!!
I was disappointed in the chocolate covered canolli though. Filling tasted like chalk.
My favorite place to go for a sweet treat! An absolute MUST for locals and tourists alike. The setting is very charming with vintage tables and chairs inside a modest space. There are rows of mouthwatering Italian pastries, hot coffee, and the most flavorful gelato! I would recommend the strawberry gelato. It is the best I have ever had. I LOVE IT HERE!
Great Italian gelato! Fresh made cannoli?
Was great, kinda a wait in line though, good stuff worth waiting for!
Can’t talk now. Mouth full of cannoli. Not sharing. SO GOOD!!!
#WillBeSoSickByTheTimeILeaveNewOrleans ... sick but happy 🥰😋☺️

There is no pastry shop that compares in New Orleans. Romantic, cozy, old school Italian spot with fresh filled cannoli, and delicious gelato.
Love this place. The Baba Rhum is just amazing. Love all the gelato flavors too. The staff was really helpful and nice.
This place is AMAZING. homemade pastries, gelato, cookies, everything! Its like a little piece of the NorthEast US (think Philladelphia, New York or New Jersey) came to New Orleans and I mean that in the best way!
Awesome . Amazing . Delicious. A gem in nola . Truly delicious gelato and baked goods. You won’t regret coming in.
Great family place great neighborhood business clean staff is phenomenal ice cream gelato cannoli all wonderfully prepared.
What an amazing place. Delicious food and a great environment. I will be sure to visit every time I'm in the neighborhood. The lemon custard with pine nuts was the winner.
Quite literally one of my favorite places on earth. Just unbelievably tasty desserts. Authentic and delicious. Should be world renowned. Here's a pic of my 3 legged pit bulls. They are missing the same leg 👍 …
O M G! So worth driving miles just to cheat on your diet. Hey... that is what I did. 🤷🏽♀️ The staff is as sweet as the pastries. I enjoyed e v e r y t h I n g. It is sad how many calories I consumed.
On a side note, do NOT park in the Smoothie King parking lot. They will tow you.
Such delightful treats! Next time I go, I plan to try the ice cream! I appreciate how various the options and prices are. A nice way to end a meal after going to Venezia's next door.
Fantastic gelato with an AMAZING selection of pastries. ❤️💝 I will be going back for both …
The line out the door says it all! Very creamy and luscious Gelato and definitely worth the wait. Also tried the fig cookies which were amazing.
A New Orleans treasure, I love going here and sampling some of their esoteric treats, like Torroncino, but the coffee could be better
The BEST gelato and ice cream. We had to eat here after. It was tqo days in a row... I love it. There is a perfectbseat for everyone and every taste. The little mezzainine as well as the qindow boxes are both appealing . People come in and out and you can have a conversation even with the movement. They also have pastries as well. The girls working there were nice and attentive. Be sure to let then kniw if you are not paying together because they quickly ring up people who seem to be together. Totally a must for us now everytime we are back at home.
If I could give this place 10 ⭐️ I would.
The lemon cake is probably the best cake I’ve ever had. The gelato was rich and creamy and my husband throughly enjoyed the Italian Ice. This little shop provided some of the best food From our entire trip to New Orleans!!
It's like going back home every time. Love this spot. Yum
Ample seating, natural light, and delicious gelato. My date was very excited at seeing the Italian treats they sell on the side too, including his mom's favorite: Baci. Bustling shop with many unique flavors to try.
Great place to bring out of towners. WELL MANNERED STAFF. COFFEE & Italian Pastries & Gelato were Great
Some of the best ice cream I've had in my life. The cannoli are quite good as well.
Got the Spumoni gelato and it was pretty delicious! A nice cozy spot
Great pastries at a great price point. The cappuccino could be a bit better, but we all enjoyed it.
Angelo Brocato never fails to satisfy my Italian sweet tooth! Every gelato flavor is so fresh and takes me back to Italy each time! The charm and old-school feeling of the bakery makes the ambiance even more wonderful and brings back great memories...this is definitely a New Orleans classic!
Been waiting to come here for years, and it did not disappoint:
Cannoli, spumoni, cassata, pignolata, torrone, panettone—any and every thing a Sicilian American sweet tooth craves during the holidays, they have it. All perfectly made from scratch by the Brocato family.
Grazie mille per tutto quello che fate!
Delicious coffee and Italian pastries. Excellent service as well.
The most authentic Italian ices and pastries in the south. Wonderful place that my 92 year old aunt brings me to.
Line out the door every night! Amazing pastries and amazing ice cream
was very good, actually surprisingly not expensive, I enjoyed it a lot. The seating was great but parking is slightly restricted
There's a reason they've been around for over a hundred years. Canoli and gelato are on point. Your should definitely make your way here if you want some great dessert. Can't wait to go back and get some more amazing desserts.
You must go here! The pastries are fabulous, the atmosphere is fun, service is friendly, and they have gelato and coffees.
Always a great place to visit for ice cream... Always a great experience and fast service! The gelato is so delicious and light. The cannoli's are out of this world good. A New Orleans classic for Italian desserts.
The best of the best! The quintessential NOLA Italian dessert spot.Totally worth the cholesterol consequences 😍 …
The best Italian sweets PERIOD! The cannolis are amazing! Stop here everytime I'm in NOLA! The staff is very attentive and helpful.
Yummy gelato and Italian desserts. It's a must visit when visiting our amazing city. The spumoni gelato is divine!
Cute little bakery with lots of history. Feels like your back in time. Pastries were yummy
Delicious Italian treats, the counter service is not always the best.
Absolutely wonderful little place!! Staff was super friendly!! Treats were amazing! Try the Custard Horn!!
Fabulous. This place is an institution and should be. Everything was tasty. Great service too.
Angelo Brocato’s is the perfect way to wrap up a night out. Fabulous pastries and ice cream....something for everyone! My client is looking forward to buying a house close enough to walk there!
Nice Italian ice cream store with good tiramisu!
Delicious Cannolis.(Vanilla Best). Friendly Staff. Free Street Parking. Good Prices.
Always good coming to Angelo’s!! Best gelato in town. You know a place is good when there is always a wait but that does not get you discouraged. Because the wait is always worth it!!
As a child, I visited the Ursalines location often. I have recently moved close to the current location. I love the history of this place. One of the longest running businesses in the city. Made my first recent visit tonight and my lifelong expectations were actually exceeded! I brought my 13 year old for some gelato. Very friendly service from a young employee that appeared to be a little new. This young man handled our order quickly and was super nice. The product is on par or above my memories of Brocato gelato from years past. Get here. Eat dat. You're welcome.
A must go to landmark place with authentic Italian desserts and coffee .Everything is 100% amazing!!!
Very small and extremely busy. The gelato is fantastic. Pastries were delicious. The cannoli wasn’t for my taste. Highly recommend this dessert shop
I kept hearing about the superior cannoli, so I rode the canal streetcar out to try them, and... Oh my! Perfection. I highly recommend the traditional setup: half ricotta, half chocolate and pistachio dust.
I love coming here every time! Wonderful desserts and array of flavors, and great service! It's super cute too.
New Orleans Classic. This is a great place to get Italian dessert. Coffee, cheesecakes, cookies, Gelato, cannoli are all great and amazing.
Delicious ice cream & gelato and exceptional customer service. I would highly recommend this place. Large variety of pastries and ice cream and gelato. Prices are reasonable. Customer service is friendly and helpful.
Icecream was delicious. Place was busy when I was there, but definitely worth the few minute wait. Awesome service alongwith the good dessert!
Traditional Italian desserts and great service!
This place is great. Stuffed to order cannoli, excellent coffee. If you go when it's busy, be prepared to wait. But it so worth it!
Quick Service! Great Italian desserts!
EVERYTHING is made IN HOUSE! The gelato is to die for! The pastries are killer as well. The cannolis are filled to order as opposed to pre filled so that they don't get soggy.
There's almost always a line but it goes fast.
They've added outdoor seating which is really nice too.
It doesn't get any better than this. The cookies are so delicious just like when I grew up my Aunt used to make St Joseph alter cookies and these are almost as good. The coffee is delicious I love cappuccino from here. My daughter's favorite is the spumoni ice cream it's amazing
Tiramisu cake tasted good. Ice cream good as well but not top notch.
Great little Italian bakery with exceptional gelato. Great service, charming location, and nice prices
It doesn't get any better. Cannoli and Spumoni are my favorites but it seriously doesn't matter. Keep coming back to until you've tried everything. Here's to a cultural institution and hopefully 115 more years of service!
Everything in Angelo's is delicious. I visit occasionally now that I no longer live in the city, and upon my arrival I discovered that they have even expanded their menu and now have a large array of desserts. I stick to all the italian treats and I love every single one. This place is well worth the visit.
Iconic New Orleans eatery featuring Italian ice cream, gelato, canoli, tira mi su, and other Italian baked goods and confections. 100% authentic to the mother country. There's usually a line and it's always worth the wait. My great grandfather used to take my father here when he was a kid. Just as good then as it is now.
Great ice cream and Italian ices. They also had a bunch of other desserts available and coffee drinks. I stick with the gelato and it was fab!
Out standing understand why it's been there so long ice cream cakes and cookies all home made all perfect all good perfect
Always good ice cream!
Service not so good
Excellent pastries and selections. Worth a trip.
Some of the best Italian ice cream I have ever had. The blueberry crisp was perfect.
Nice little spot! Stopped in for an Italian ice too cool off and ended up with a cannoli and spumoni as well! The ac was great and the staff friendly! Stop in if you have a sweet tooth or need a cool dessert.
Very good!
Everything was very tasty.
Cannolis were freshly filled and therefore very crunshy. It also had a little taste of king cake with what I think was a little cinnamon added to the shells.
The only thing slightly different from Italian was the amount of sugar in everything. I wish they didn't make everything this sweet. I felt a little deprived of how good these actually taste due to the sweetness. Most traditional Italian confectionaries I have been to do not add sugar as much as most American ones do.
My favorite bakery in NOLA. I was a weekly customer after grad school every Thursday night. Now, I stop by every Sunday afternoon. Regardless of day and time, the store is clean and the customer service is top notch. They are always friendly and willing to offer suggestions as well as information about their products. I make it a point to try something new each visit. So far, I have not been disappointed. Super prices. Small stuff like melt-aways, anise drops, and and ricotta cookies are less than a dollar each. I grab a week's worth of small bites and usually spend about 12 bucks. Best cannolis on Earth. I have only tried their gelato once because I'm usually late and want to get to Venezia up the street before they close, but it was amazing as well and seems to be one of the most popular items they sell. HIGHLY recommend this bakery. Don't be discouraged if there is a line. They move quickly and it is worth the wait. People leaving 1 and 2 stars because they CLAIM they weren't immediately taken care of don't understand how the bakery works. You don't rush to the register. That's where you pay for your food...not order it. You catch one of the multiple people going out of their way to help everyone IN ORDER. Speak up.
Love this place! The gelato is delicious and their pastries are awesome too. They can get pretty busy on the weekend evenings, but the line usually moves fast.
The servers are so friendly and helpful. The property is clean and we'll kept. Gelato is amazing. The baked goods are delicious. They have a lot of coffee drinks but I'm a fan of their espresso. Dark roast, smooth and not bitter. Always a good experience
The pastries look amazing. I was overwhelmed with options. I ended up trying the Amaretto Cheesecake. It was very dry. Not much flavor. I was disappointed. But my hubby had some gelato and it was so decadent.
Visiting New Orleans from Oklahoma and have not tasted authentic Italian pastries since I moved out of New York 16 years ago. Recommended by a local and we're very glad we went because everything was delicious!
Best dessert spot in town. Quintessential New Orleans Italian gelato, dessert, and coffee shop is a trip back in time. Been there several times and never let down. Sometimes there's a line, don't be intimated because it moves very fast. Locally owned by a wonderful family. This place is a jewel. They don't make them like this anymore.
I'm 100% into this place. The atmosphere is vintage and quaint, the prices are great and the ice cream is just amazing. I had a few different kinds on my trip, but my favorite was the pistachio almond. Go here. It's great. Take your kids, take your grandma, it's amazing.
Always worth finding the parking spot. Stopping in for a sweet treat in Mid-City? Brocatos is always great. After the first 100 years they have really nailed it. From Italian cookies and pastries. To the homemade gelatos and ice cream and thier famous lemon ice. Be sure to try the seasonal fruit ice treats. It changes regularly, and it's always good. They make everything themselves there in Mid-City. It is the perfect post dinner date spot for desert and espresso.
This place is a Nola icon and worth the hype. Roughly a century in business this Italian bakery and gelato shop never disappoints and is open till 10 pm so you can actually drop.im.fpr.dessert after dinner out. Be aware the line sometimes extends outside. My only complaint is that I wish the espresso was better but hey at least it's Italian espresso.
I've always seen the longest lines in this shop - and now I know why! They have the most delicious Gelato! I will also recommend the fig cookies.
Classic Italian bakery with an interesting offering of broken biscottis.
Just walk in and enjoy the atmosphere. Great service and extra good treats. Be prepared for the sugar level.
The pastries here reminds me of European style sweets in Japan. I loved especially the Cream Puff. I want to eat that everyday!
What a charming place! The pricing seems reasonable & fair in regards to gelato portions, which is what my husband, toddler, & I ordered to share both times we went in. They are generous with samples & don’t rush you through to order even when it is busy—which it was, both times we went! And one of those times was at 9:30 pm!! We also tried a cannoli, but were not impressed. Fun atmosphere & friendly employees made the experience enjoyable. Thanks, Angelo Brocato!
Andrew Brocato's is a wonderful place. It sold New Orleans located in Mid City so unfortunately the parking is not great. But it is well worth the effort even if you have to walk a little distance to go. The pastries all the finest you going to find anywhere there is seating area so that you can eat there and then take some out also. is a wonderful place. It's old New Orleans located in Mid City so unfortunately the parking is not great. I really can't say I know anything about the status of the restrooms. But the staff is very friendly and considering the fact that everything is made fresh everyday and the quality is so good I think it's well worth the price. A few years back my husband and I went there with our granddaughter and it wasn't very busy at that time so he ordered one of everything in the case with Three Forks. I'm not sure I've recovered from that yet but it was wonderful. Just a thought.
Cute place! Lots to choose from. I'd go back.
Definitely my favorite dessert shop in the Nola area! They have a great selection, awesome staff, and you can generally get in and out pretty quickly even when they are swamped! I've never had a bad experience at Angelo's.
Well, not just Italian ice creams. They have awesome bakery items, cookies, coffee and fountain serves. Very high quality products, a historic place among other local gem spots. Very friendly staff, great atmosphere, great chi. My wife loves the fig stuffed cookies. I recommend.
Great place to talk real estate business with clients when buying , also after the game and the line was out the door. It moved very quickly and the people behind the counter were really helpful. I think it only took about 7 minutes to get our gelato which was amazing. I have gained only a couple of pounds!
Delicious pastries at very reasonable prices. Coffee is fantastic, and it's a great place to buy cakes to bring to parties since they will box up anything you'd like. Venue is very cute and a good date spot as well. I'm definitely coming back!
Can't stop eating here the ice cream is so good. Rum custard is a big winner.. eat it and tell me you don't agree. The blondie is also amazing as are the fresh made cannolis.
Another amazing place to try out. A little Italian bakery and gelato shop. All hand made and absolutely delicious. It's one of those places that can quickly become a family tradition or a great last stop on a date. Parking is a little tricky but that's NOLA. Go have a sweet bite after dinner. It's worth it.
We love visiting here when we're in town. The chocolate gelato is absolutely amazing and the napoleans remind me of the ones McKenzies bakery used to have. Don't forget to grab their fresh cannolis!
Great place to get some desserts. Gelato was great and most of the pastries were good.
Such an amazing place. Have been going since I was a little kid. Bought my own kids and husband for the first time. EVERYTHING was sooooo delicious. Wish I could go every week.
I've been coming here for years. They have some of the best pastry in New Orleans! Although I've haven't personally tried it I understand their Gelato is also fabulous.
It was wonderful just like I used to get back in 1968... OMG 50 years ago when the shop was in the French Quarters.
We debated whether we should give this place a try after seeing the long line outside one Friday night. We waited in line for about 5 to 10 minutes, but it was worth it. The staff was quick and efficient. The flow of people was kept organized so we were able to find a table for 5 right away. The desserts were WORTH THE WAIT! We ended up ordering different desserts and sharing because we could not decide on just one.
One of my favorite dessert shops in New Orleans!! The interior is super cute and the Italian sweets and gelato are delicious and reasonably priced. There may be a line outside during peak hours, but it's worth it. Some of my favorites are the Spumoni Cheesecake and Lemon Gelato!
The spumoni ice cream was the bomb as well as the Louisiana strawberry ice my grandson really enjoyed Roman candy it was his first time eating it he was born in Texas but his dad is from New Orleans and his dad always ate the Roman candy so he really enjoyed eating the room and candy that his dad enjoyed as a boy I hadn't had this spumoni in years and I really enjoyed it my family really enjoyed themself at Angela brocato's today and we definitely will be back. My mom brought us here as kids when it was on Franklin avenue and I had to bring my grandson here to enjoy himself. This is definitely a Louisiana staple so glad it's still here so that my grandson can enjoy it
One of my favorite places to visit on my own or with guests.
Quaint, classic New Orleans spot. Jasmine flavor gelato was refreshing and tiramisu was pretty good. One of my go-to's when I'm in Nola. Highly recommend
Everything is delicious and home made. Their ice flavors (lemon, satsuma, melon) are obviously made with real fruit and are creative, local flavors. Their cookies and baked goods are old school in type and how they are made. The pastries are perfection! While they are known for their cannoli, which are excellent, don't pass up on all the other goodies.
Best Cannoli in Louisiana.....the absolute best. Expect a crowd.
Delicious Italian ice cream shop! Always fresh products!
There are many flavors available that you can find your favorite, no matter what! I always stopped by whenever I was in the area. It's a bit far from FQ but quite popular among tourists, so it can get very busy especially in the evenings. Get ready to wait in line for few minutes.
The canoles are wonderful. Coffee is very good. They have a very old cappuccino machine, way cool just looking at it. My favorite place for desert after dinner. Old New Orleans style. Excellent. The way things should be.
A New Orleans classic & perfect ending to a mid-city date night 💓 …
Friendly service, great gelato
Had been wanting to try this place for some time, and now that I have, it will be a regular stop each time I’m in town. Tried the cannoli, tiramisu, and lemon ricotta cookies. All were outstanding. And the latte was rich and smooth, the espresso standing out nicely against the steamed milk. Easy to see why they have been in business for well over a century. A new New Orleans favorite!
Absolutely amazing establishment. Every single thing crafted at Angelo's is by hand and with fresh ingredients. Everything is authentically Italian and delicious. The staff is very helpful and kind as well. My favorite thing is their cappuccino with a fresh filled cannoli, it's absolutely to amazing!
No trip to New Orleans is complete without a pilgrimage to Angelo Brocato's. Desserts and atmosphere are pitch perfect. Most of the clientele are local, because this is just a great Gelateria.
Best Desserts in NOLA! Great Atmosphere & Excellent Service
I absolutely love this Italian restaurant. I enjoyed the Baked Alaska, the Tira Mi Su, and the Amaretto Cheesecake. The service is very quick, and the employees are extremely friendly. Great Restaurant For Tasty Desserts!!!
This place is always fantastic. The treats, pastries & cookies and delicious. They have coofee & espresso, gelato, etc. The atmosphere is nice and staff are always friendly. Fair warning, if you've never been, be prepared that it's a well known bakery and there could quite possibly be a line. Also just know that tourists, foreigners who may be struggling to order or enjoying ordering in italian perhaps, locals who feel they deserve to be waited on first because they know exactly what they want & the cost down to the cent, kids holding up the line because they're counting out their money, etc are all part of the problem with a place like this that you may run into. I was just here & while ordering, a group of 4 women and 3 or 4 girls preteen age, came in and just sort or barged in front of me ordering away with another employee behind the counter. I had a hard time finishing my order - now having to yell a bit & move over. Some people are just rude. Otherwise, my experience was great, and I'll of course go back. I bought $30 of cookies to go in addition to my order for while I was there. You can't go wrong with anything there!
It helps to know what the pastries you are selling are made with, but it's mainly always a very young staff so that's to be expected. A little frustrating trying to pick out something you like if they can't correctly describe what it is. It's Italian pastries so you have to know your stuff lol. Luckily, I had an Italian with me to tell me what it was as the young girl working didn't know how to describe what it was. Maybe tasting and knowing the ingredients that make the flavor in it would help that (anise in particular).
All in all, this is a staple in New Orleans for 114 years as it is the most authentically made Italian gelato, pastries and packaged treats from Italy you will find in Nola.
This is a must stop during your visit to New Orleans. I had the cassata ice cream bar which is 4 flavors in one. It was amazing. The banana split one tastes like everything in one bite, awesome. The pastries are very good as well. The cannolis are freshly filled and they make their own filling. It cannot get any better than that. They are busy during the weekends, best if you go on a weekday during the day.
Delicious mint chocolate chip and chocolate Gelato. Great customer service and a friendly atmosphere inside the shop. Would get again!
The place has delicious Italian desserts. Their ice cream flavors are great specially the salted caramel.
The Gelato was pretty good. I got strawberry cheesecake. Good variety on the menu, if you don’t like gelato
I had an ice cream cone, apple streusel, white powder cookies. The lemon marscipone cake was the best! Everything was very tasty. They're is a line and an officer outside directing the flow of people. Overall a good experience. Staff is very helpful!
Prices of about any café (maybe a bit more), but better quality. The store is centered around italian pastries and gelato. I've been here many times and nothing I've had has disappointed me. My favorites are the baba ruhm, tiramisu, and canollis. Even the espresso and capaccinos are really nice. To go boxes get wrapped nicely with a string amd the aesthetics of the building amd furniture is really nice too. I have yet to have any bad experience here 10/10.
This place is a tradition for me every time I'm down in New Orleans. Usually go for the gelato but you bet your sweet bippy I'm getting some pastries and Italian soda while I'm here too, yes I am!
Great desserts and coffee. Quaint cozy appointments throughout. Biggest plus was the staff, we felt at home. Thank you!
Their gelato is very good. For a while it was the only gelato in the city. Their cannolis are amazing. Everything here is a delight for the senses. A feast for the eyes, the tongue and the stomach. You will not be disappointed.
My parents used to take me here as a kid. One of the fondest memories of my childhood. I have come here at the routinely for over 40 years and their quality has been consistently excellent. It never has disappointed.
Be prepared because it usually is packed. Once you taste it, you’ll understand why.
This ice cream is incredible! It was recommended by a friend and I am so thankful.
Definitely come here for an evening treat!
Growing up on the East Coast we had casata and spumoni on special occasions. I created all kinds of special occasions just to stop by again when I was in New Orleans.
Stopped by here while visiting New Orleans, this place is a gem. Wasn't too busy when I stopped by, they have a pretty good selection of desserts and gelato. Service was super friendly and helpful and the gelato & tiramisu was delicious. Definitely worth stopping by if you're in the area.
I've been going here with my family and friends almost all my life!
The stuffed cannolis are my favorite treat, the lemon ice is my favorite Italian ice!!
Are you kidding? What's not to love? Historic, friendly employees, and great service. EVERYTHING is excellent, but I do love those canolies!
Always a pleasure here. Love the place, the staff. Always excellent!
Ricotta cake was ok, but not worth the wait.
I love this place. I ended up here Saturday after a Pelican's game and the line was out the door. It moved very quickly and the people behind the counter were really helpful. I think it only took about 5 minutes to get our gelato which was amazing. I also had a slice of tiramisu. Also very good. I love the atmosphere of this place.
The Gelato here lives up to the hype but don't forget the pastries. They have some of the best baked sweets in town. It can be crowded (because it is so good) with a long line but it is the cleanliness. They are so busy they often do not have time to clean up the tables that can get pretty sticky. Not gross, just a little dirty now and then when things get out of control busy. Hard to fault them for it but it is something I have encountered on multiple visits.
I’m a regular and have been for years. The staff are great, the ambiance is wonderful, and the gelato is awesome!
Get the gelatoccino with pistachio nut gelato and whipped cream. *chef’s kiss*
What can I say about this place that hasn't already been said. It is an historic landmark for the city of New Orleans. The best Italian desserts anywhere. Their gelato is second none and their tiramisu is hands down one of the best I have ever had. This place makes you feel like someone's Italian grandmother is making all these desserts in the back in the kitchen. I love this place and try to go any chance I get.
Great place for a visit and to take a break from the business of the quarter. Excellent gelato and other various scrumptious treats. Very freindly help to get you introduced to a satisfying dessert. About a 30 minute ride on the trolley from Canal and Magazine.
This is the best place in New Orleans for baked goods and gelato. It's all super reasonably priced, and their customer service is top notch. I can't ever complete a trip to New Orleans without stopping here first!
I love the Apple 🍎 apple strudel over thereover there the only thing is it's sliced a little thin …
This place is a true gem with AMAZING pastries. The connollis and baba were divine. Highest quality bakery I've been in a very long time. Best in the city, by far.
Baked good were fabulous. No free refills on coffee so if you want another cup you have to pay full price even though the coffee is brewed in a big pot. Coffee was decent tryme brand coffee. The staff was friendly answering all my questions and helpful in recommending the best desserts and suggestions for how much to buy for the number of people etc. The spumoni gelato was great and got a lot of compliments from the folks at the advent supper I bought it for. They also loved the assortment of cookies in a decorative tin that I bought there. The Panettone while not from Angelo's also received rave reviews. Several people asked where I got the cookies and spumoni so I told them. Several new customers will be descending on Angelo Brocato this Christmas season as a result. We had over 20 people at this church advent supper so hopefully lots of new business and new loyal customers will be gained as a result. If I did not have to move away I know I would be a regular there. So for the best authentic italian baked goods, at a fair price, head to Angelo Brocato. Tell them Officer Bob sent ya. Have a Happy and Blessed Advent and Christmas season.
Great, made in-house, ice-cream and a fun atmosphere!
If you're looking for genuine New Orleans, there's no place better. The best ice cream you will ever eat. You need to try the Italian chocolate chip. I guarantee you'll never have anything like it anywhere else. Service is friendly, everything's always fresh made right on the premises.
The best Italian Gelato, cookies and pastries in the city!
We went in expecting to be blown away based on the history and reviews of this place and were not at all. Caramel gelato was pretty good, baci was uninteresting, at best. Other items were forgettable. Certainly not worth the huge line that queued up. I would skip for Sucre, to be honest.
Delicious and left as happy customers!
The gelato was delicious. I love it that the cannolis are fresh and filled when ordered. The pricing and serving sizes were fair. The employees were friendly and accommodating. We would definitely wait in a line for the desserts and gelato.
Very good! GF / Emergency Contact / Bestie (aka Sladjana) said, “tastes just like Italy.” She would know she has been there before. We met on hinge and within a couple weeks of dating she agreed to accompany me to Malta on a pre planned trip. We went to Rome for a little side trip. Gelato was amazing just like it is here. We will definitely be back......maybe as fiancé’s.....seriously that good. Also, she is that good! She is the equivalent of white chocolate gelato from Angelo Brocato. Seriously....come here....do it!!!!!!!!
A fun place for the family or a cute date. Not just gelato, they have cheesecakes, eclairs, canoli, all sorts of Italian cookies, and more. Solid espresso too. If you're not we'll acquainted with Italian baking, you may be surprised by the lower level of sweetness in the baked goods (than, say, Mrs. Field's cookies or your mom's brownies). They take cards, have lots of little tables for seating, and clean (single occupancy) bathrooms. I live in the neighborhood and usually walk over, but I imagine finding parking is difficult. There's only a few spots (street parking) and no dedicated lot, just like most of New Orleans. Finally, there's some sort of deputy on duty as a bouncer sometimes but I've no idea why! Our neighborhood is really safe.
Classic Italian patisserie that could be in Italy!
Lovely little gem with outstanding sweets. This is my "feel-good" place. Great customer service, and it feels like old New Orleans. I never mind having to wait in line when we come during busy hours.
Old school New Orleans, traditional Italian. And yes, I have been to Italy. I love the gelato and the pastry but have never had anything here that was bad. Try to go on weekdays or right when they open for the best parking options.
This place is amazing! I have to visit here every time I'm in New Orleans. The parking can be hard, but it's worth it. I always come for the spumoni, you really can't find it better anywhere else. This place is a classic and will always be a staple of the city to me.
Ice cream is soooo good!
And all those baked goodies are amazing!
Best Fresh Pastries In Town With Fast & Friendly Service. It Brings Back Memories Of The Pastries My Sicilian Grandmother Would Make For The Saint Joseph Altars Back In The Late 70's - 80's.
Old fashioned Italian gelato and pastry shop, ended up there 3x , couldn't stop ourselves. Quaint, all homemade, line out the door but fast service as the servers and on the job. Amazing selection of flavors of ice cream, ices; canoli's are fresh and crunchy. This is worth the trolley ride down Canal St for.
This place is the spot. Authentic Sicilian pastries like the ones Nonna used to make. The cassata cake and spumoni cheesecake are to die for. They have a great selection of Italian cookies including some really traditional stuff you can't find most places. Their gelato and italian ice are also wonderful. In short: everything is good, try everything, you'll be back for more! Can get pretty crowded though, especially at night (it's a small establishment).
I thought I wrote this one already however if you are coming to New Orleans, you have to come to this place. The Italians are a great demographic in New Orleans and this place is a symbol of there influence here. Incredible pastries, Italian ice cream, the cannolis are legends. Come here get the good coffee and enjoy a New Orleans experience
This place is a wonder gem for Italian desserts, gelato, and hot coffee beverages. They are #1 for Italian desserts. I presonally love the cannoli's and cappuccino. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. When my friends and family come to visit from out of state I always bring them here.
The service is very friendly! Someone came to the door a few minutes after closing and they were kind enough to let him in and serve him without hassle. When we go we usually order cannolis and a gelato cup with 2 flavors and it's delicious every time.
Great cookies! Didn't try the gelato. A little out of the way but a short drive from downtown and worth it.
A great place to get dessert after dinner. Has an older classic feel. Many Italian specialty desserts in addition to the gelato. Closed on Mondays I think. Often crowded but the line moves quickly.
The only problem that I have with this place is that I can’t order everything on the menu. Well I can, but it wouldn’t be a pretty sight. Brocato’s is the crown jewel of the Mid City Carrollton corridor. Decadent pastries, amazing coffee and much much more. Highly recommend. Long line outside? Don’t worry, they move quickly...
Historically, a very old italian dessert shop. Very well maintained. Great and reliable staffs. Cannoli is a must try. And gelato!! We love Gelato. Driving 30 minutes from where we located to get gelato from Angelo Brocato tells everything already.
This is a cute little location to enjoy some of the best gelato in the city. I also highly recommend their apple strudel and cannoli!
Classic New Orleans place serving the best canolis as well as other pastries, cookies, gelato and spumoni. Servers are exceptionally pleasant, patiently waiting fir our choices.
Best dessert place I've ever been to. Certainly has that mom and pop New Orleans feel to it. The gelato was superb, the service was quick despite the very long line that required a member of NOPD to guard the door and limit the people walking in at one time. I try to go everytime I'm in the area.
Friendly service helpful staff Large Selection to choose from
If you want legit Italian pastries & gelato from a place that's been around for over 100 years, go here. Everything I tasted was incredible, and the staff was unbelievably attentive and kind. Get the cannoli(they make it to order, you won't see it in the display cases). *Remember to sample before you order your gelato. I went for their famous lemon ice, but it was too sweet for my personal taste, and I ended up with a Spumoni instead.
There are no reviews I can give that would do this place justice. It's a tradition here in town that has earned it's place in my heart. Cannoli made to order. Gelato. Espresso. Do not come to NOLA and not stop here.
THE BEST CANOLIS. AROUND!!! They will make your canoli fresh, as soon as u order it! Theres all kinds of italian cookies & pastries. There's italian ice & iced cream. We've been coming here for generations& they've never let us down. If u have a sweet tooth i can't go wrong coming here! WE LOVE BROCATO'S!!!💝😘😍 …
Great gelato in traditional and some not-so-traditional flavors. Pastries, tarts, and top-notch canolli, filled and dipped on the spot.
Their online order request form was super easy and reliable. I placed the order 2 days in advanced so if there was any problem I could call the day before to make sure they got it. (Which I recommend) Friendly and helpful staff!
Great old city icon. Great coffee and sweets. If you love Italian pastries and gelato this is the place to go. They have the best Italian lemon ice i have had.
I go there fairly often. Has been a family special outing for decades. I would give it 5 stars but for the coffee. For some place that has the most marvelous pastries and gelato, the coffee is terrible. Always very weak and tasteless. It always saddens me to get a wonderful ricotta torta or the famous canoli only to be coupled with country coffee . If you do get the coffee don’t get it aulait for you will get coffee flavored “warm” milk .
This place is a go-to for me when I visit the city. It has so much history and the desserts are always phenomenal. The building with the tile floor and metal chairs are a blast from the past. You have to try the smooth and sugary Italian ice in flavors like strawberry, lemon, blueberry, and raspberry. The gelato is rich and creamy in all kinds of flavors from the standard chocolate to pistachio, rum, and tiramisu. I love the spumoni with a harmony of Italian flavors. You can't beat the fresh cannoli. I always spend too much on the Italian cookies (best eaten with coffee or hot tea). They used to have a candy counter in the old days, but they removed it to add seating. They still have some candy in jars around for purchase. Plan to wait outside in the heat in line during peak times (roach sightings possible). Expect to be served by local Catholic school girls frantically rushing about behind the counter. Also, you can get coffee from the enormous brass contraption to go with your dessert. You can get their ice and cookies in some grocery stores locally, but it's fresher at the source.
An absolute must visit when in New Orleans!
Locals have known about Brocato's for years, now out of towners have discovered what a treasure this place is. There was a waiting line to get in my last visit in April on a Thursday night, but well worth the wait. For one of the best desserts and coffees in town you can't find better!
I'm in love with their cassata cake, but definitely the best canoli in the city if not the US. They've been making a go of it since 1905 and I can't imagine a better place for dessert.
Great ice cream place! They are typically really busy, but the line moves quickly. Friendly and helpful employees.
Words can't describe the absolute deliciousness if this place. The pastries are some of the best I've ever had. Another "Must Stop" on our visits to NOLA.
Hands down the best Cannoli , Spumoni, Persians , chocolate dipped cresents, cappuccino the list goes on. If you want good nay the best Italian pastries and coffee this is it. Get there at 10am you get the Cannoli as they're made. Yummy.
This place has very good ice cream offerings. It’s location near a streetcar stop is very convenient, and the staff is attentive and nice. As a tourist, I recommend it as a place to stop before/after you visit the City Park.
Delicious and authentic. They had a St. Joseph's altar up.
It's been here forever, nothing has dramatically changed; therefore, quality is consistently delivered. Pistacchio gelato is pretty good as well as their almond cookies. Quick stop for pastries and desserts for under $5.
Step back 75 years and go into this bakery. Take time to sit and enjoy the best (by far) spumoni in the country. Take home a bag of Italian treats that are authentic Italian desserts. After one trip you will want to go back many times.
Angelo brocato's is a New Orleans institution. I came here with my family as I have many times in the past and I got exactly what I wanted as I always do. The service here is excellent and the product is consistently delicious. The spumoni is fantastic and personally I love the Meza Crema. The Gelato is the best in town and and the cannoli are hard to beat. Expect a line but don't let that stop you. They move extremely quickly and are very competent. Because of that the wait is usually short.
Amazing!!!! Best ice cream I have ever tried!!! White chocolate!!! Best cannoli Ever!!!!
Gelato, cannolis, and pastries are TO DIE FOR. This is a must visit place for Italian sweets, a locals favorite. Just had the "Italian Kiss" hazelnut gelato, followed by a raspberry ice. Took home some pecan meltaways and almond crescents. Wife had a chocolate eclair and rum baba.
I cannot say enough good things about Brocato's. I highly recommend this New Orleans institution, without reservation. Give it a try, treat yourselves.
This place is fantastic. We often bring gift boxes of Brocato's when we drive or fly to see friends and family. Their cannolis are legendary. There's often a line out the front door (around dinner time), but it moves quickly, and the desserts are well worth the wait.
Simply the best Italian desserts I have ever had, including many trips to Little Italy in NYC. Canolis are second to none. One of my favorite home town traditions!
Great Italian desserts!
What can I say? The espresso machine is a work of art, beautiful copper and gold covering. The gelato is divine. There is this thing called a Rhum Baba cake that at $3.75 is a great value for such good dessert. They fill the canolis to order, though the filling was a tad too sweet for my liking. Great 50s malt shop style. We go here way too much.
One of the best Latte in town!!! Gelato is delicious as well.
The first time I stepped into Angelo Brocato store I knew I was entering in a very special place. I was thrilled about having discovered an Italian dolci & gelateria hub in the U.S where I could indulge in a real deal of flavors.
Every sweet, pastry, cookie, ice cream, looks and smells fresh in this New Orleans’ Vintage room. Happiness seems to be stamped in the visitor’s faces of all ages coming in the front door and despite the occasional lines, servers are consistently ready and gentle.
Angelo Brocato treats are known for their freshly filled cannolis (sensible sized) and lemon gelato, which can be found in a size as small as a kiddie cup.
I’ve been having everything they make for three years and I still didn’t exhaust my list. Every new treat becomes a new addiction until I get ready to move on.
I recently discovered gellatoccino, a long glass coffee cup filled with the gelato, I chose stracciatella, topped with their special fresh brewed espresso, which I take with a side of melt away cookies :)
Besides the traditional deserts like Napolean and Tiramisu, Spinoni, Rum and Raisin and Pistachio Almond ice-creams, they will make seasonal sweets that I wait the whole year for, like Peach gelato and my husband for eggnog cheesecake and Christmas Italian assorted cookies.
Amaretto cheesecake was very good. My husband said the chocolate chip pecan cookies were good.
I gave it 4 stars because I didn't find the selection to be very extensive.
Perfect coffee (espresso) and ice-cream (banana pudding gelato).
The most authentic Sicilian bakery outside of taking a trip to Sicily. I've loved this place my entire life.
Best cannoli! Always a favorite place for a quick treat.
There was a line to get in but it moved very fast. The staff was friendly and speedy. Great selection of gelato and other treats.
This is an amazing Italian bakery. Loved by locals and tourists alike. The cannoli are to die for.
Great treat, one of the reasons I visited New Orleans.
Most rewarding!! We always like to stop on our visits to town. I cannot pass up their wonderful cappuccino, spumoni, Napoleon! And there's always the take home cookies! Today it was Anise. Oh yes! Wonderful way to end our visit.
Opt for mini cannolis instead of the big ones- more of everything in smaller bites so you can save room for soooo many other delicious items there. Authentic Italian cafe that has been an essential part of my upbringing. My faves: almond macaroon cookies, Prussians (aka shoe soles), anise cookies and a cup of cafe au lait- sit down and drink it there. This place is an institution that I am so thankful is still around.
Best Italian desserts in the city. Try it.
Wow! Excellent gelato!! Canollis too!
Great variety of Italian pastries and desserts. My son loves the place. He loves in another state and wants pastries from there.
Brocato's is one of the places I love bringing friends; the gelato is divine and the atmosphere is cozy. Plus, for those with dairy issues, there's always pastries! Definitely give it a try. I recommend the amoretto with chocolate.
So delicious.
Came for date night
Delicious authentic Italian cookies, pastries and ice cream. This is definitely my favorite dessert place!
Brocato's has some of the best and most convenient gelato if you plan to stay in the mid City (or even down town) area. You can order new creations and old favorites in terms of classic italian flavors. I was a true fan of the cannoli gelato, and if I could have I would have taken a quart with me (you can if you live close enough!)
Lemon blueberry tastes super brilliant!
My favorite place for gelato and baked Italian treats in North America. Get the ricotta cookies.
True authentic Italian creamery..its a must for tourist and locals.delicious flavors where everyone in the family can find something they like. Cannolis made to order highly recommend
Best bakery in the city of New Orleans! The pastries and gelato are great and the shop has been around forever, my mother used to take me when I was small and her father used to take her.
This is a quaint gelato and Italian pastry shop. Took a group here on school trip and they loved all the flavors. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Would absolutely recommend.
My favorite place for dessert. Try the Baba Rhum cake and thank me later. There is an army of super helpful, polite young people behind the counter that are all good at their job. Not sure how they do it.
Best Napoleon cake in town, Cannoli are made to order, going to visit every time I am in NOLA.
Food: 4.8
Service 4.6
Venue:4.2 (No easy parking)
Conveniently located 2 steps away from Venecia's, some of the best Italian cuisine in the city. A perfect finish to an intimate and well beyond pleasurable dining experience.
Cannot visit one without the other in order to reach one's ultimate fulfillment.
If and when Jesus resurrects, his first stop on Earth will be Brocato's. 😇
After a great dinner at Mandina's it's just a hop skip and a jump to heaven on earth. Great coffee and the Italian cookies and pastries are to die for. I bet you can't try just one. Trust me, you won't want only one. ;)
Amazing Italian bakery and coffee. Will worth the trip for small bite and coffee. They have a more developed menu if you want more but, I think this niche is Cafe.
This is a dated, old style Italian bakery and coffee house with a remarkable old brass and copper espresso machine. The coffee is the best I've had after a week visiting NOLA. Pastries were tasty. Was surprised to hear one of the counter staff tell the only other customers in there (well it was the Monday after Boxing Day) that they use lard not butter, Sicilian's preference. Not cool having animal fat only food without providing notice - I've dropped it 1 star because of this. Apart from that I like this place, I'd go again though it is far from the FQ, but easy on a Canal St tram. Can't see why tripadvisor reviewers make this NOLA's #1 restaurant though! Doesn't say much for the other 850 reviewed places.
Lemon ice is the best. Since I enjoy it so much, it's all I would order. I tried the tiramisu. It was okay but maybe I just regretted not getting the lemon ice. Think it's a bit over priced but okay to have as a treat on occasion.
Always friendly, and I've have been trying to replicate their tiramisu! Great selection of Italian desserts. Authentic.
I enjoyed my 3 scoops and enjoyed the aesthetic of the store. Also had friendly service! Fun :)
One of my favorite spots in the city. The place is so adorable and everything I have gotten is really really good. I love the pistachio gelato and their peach ice.
Brilliant gelato, pastries and coffee. It is such a refreshing break from the Starbucks and "espresso bars". A traditional coffee place where you can always get a good set of biscotti to go with your Joe.
I particularly recommend the macaroons (not macarons), the panacotta gelato and the cortado.
Simply the most fulfilling Italian pastry, gelato, and espresso shop that I’ve ever come across. So thankful I was introduced to this by a local. Recent visit included getting a slice of Mardi Gras cheesecake ( clearly a seasonal favorite) and a “Gelatoccino” comprised of a double shot of espresso over velvety smooth gelato. Clearly their 100+ years in business shows their mastery of their products and client needs.
Consistently amazing selection an quality of desserts
Stopped by for Gelato after eating at Venecia Italian. Cute small shop with pastries and yummy gelato.
Friendly staff, cute environment, timely service, and yummy treats.
I have been going here since I was a kid and the quality is still the same - AMAZING! If you are in town for only a few days or a local, go visit this place. The coffee is always strong and the desserts always wonderful.
Always delicious. This is a true New Orleans institution. Since 1905 serving up delicious Italian desserts and specialty items.
I enjoyed coming there but I came from Lafayette and I had my taste buds was set on the banana ice cream and they didn't have any so I was saddened by that but I think you should have that year round
A trip to New Orleans would not be complete without a cannoli and espresso from Brocato's!!! Spumoni, Cassata, Queen cookies.... gelato!!!! Hmmm!! Multi bueno!!!
Great New Orleans Tradition. Italian gelato; coffees; pastry and cookies. Canoli are handmade along with Spumoni and Cassata. Authentic and 100 years old. Limited Parking and constant flow of customers. NOLA FAVORITE!
Old fashion pastry, gelato and coffee shop with a truly vintage vibe. Friends and neighborhood folks gather here for daily treats. Excellent homemade pastries and Italian gelatos since 1905 in the same neighborhood location.
Have the best cookies in town.
Black Forest cookies are the best I’ve ever had. Honestly, haven’t had anything that wasn’t delicious here. Great place to go for dessert!
Italian gelato and pastries at its finest. Perfect place to end your meals whenever you're in Midcity. The staff is also super friendly and very helpful.
Amazing dessert selection and outstanding gelato! Best chocolate gelatin I've had worldwide. And being here since 1905 is so cool!
Super fantastic! The spumoni was delicious and comes in a triangle log. The pistachio almond was great and the chocolate was amazing, very rich chocolate flavor.
No need to wonder why they have been around since 1905. You need to go there and taste the many reasons why. Bring me some back with you! Of course, the staff is just as great!!
So much history in this place with fun authentic Italian desserts. The rum cake, spumoni, and the stracciatella gelato were the favorites of the night. Pretty good cannoli as well.
Loved the vanilla bean Gelato and the Tiramisu cake was delicious also! Great shop for dessert!
There is almost no parking, so plan to park farther away and walk. All the treats we bought were fantastic! The line was out the door, which is always a good sign.
I can't believe it took me this long to finally try Angelo Brocato. I went on a weekday afternoon, so the line wasn't bad at all, and the young lady behind the counter was friendly and helpful while I anguished over my choice of gelato (though I don't think there's a wrong choice to be made...). Grabbed a cup of stracciatella and tiramisu gelato to enjoy in the shop next to a trio of what appeared to be Italian grandmothers dressed to the nines.
Brought a cannoli and a Napoleon home to enjoy later, and while they were too rich to finish in one sitting, they were delicious all the way through! CAn't wait to go back and try the famous spumoni.
Great tiramisu
Love their ice cream
Hate the line and the staff weren’t that nice
Great small local shop. Wonderful atmosphere, cute decor.
Clean!! Esp. The bathrooms! Which is of course always a plus.
Really wonderful candies, pastries and gelato.
Omg this place is so good! Went here on a friend's recommendation and was not disappointed. You must try the spumoni. It's unlike anything you've ever tasted. Their cannoli are also amazing as well as their gelato.
This quaint Italian bakery had some great pastries, pies, and gelato. There can be a long line, however, so plan accordingly, but be ready for some tasty desserts.
This is the best gelato and Italian pastry place not only in New Orleans but anywhere. And those who serve you are as nice as they can be.
An affordable, authentic Italian shop! Lots of pastries, gelato, and coffee, all amazing. Lots of character. They'll remember you after only a couple trips.
Love this iconic Italian bakery and gelateria. Try to get here every time I'm in NOLA. Gelato, authentic Italian cookies, cannoli and cappuccino -- what more do you need?
Oh if I lived nearby, I would be a very fat lady thanks to delicious institutions like this! The spumoni cheesecake (it's a thing, I checked) and Zuppa Inglese gelato are rich, but out of this world. If packed, get it to go-- their old-school boxes and little silver forks are beyond adorable.
Best Ice Cream in the City.
Lamb neck was very tender.
The beans just the right mix of tangy and salty.
THE BEST BAKERY IN NEW ORLEANS, THEY ACTUALLY SUPPLY SOME LOCAL ITALIAN RESTAURANTS IN THE CITY! THEIR SELECTIONS ARE ENDLESS, TRY SEVERAL AND YOU DECIDE WHICH ONE IS BEST...IF YOU CAN! FROM THE CANNOLIS TO THE GELATOS! THEY ARE VERY BUSY, AND WITH COVID-19, THERE IS OFTEN A LINE WAITING, SO PLAN ON A 20 MINUTE WAIT, INCLUDING THE TIME THAT YOU WILL SPEND TRYING TO CHOOSE FROM THE MORE NUMEROUS ITEMS THAN YOU WILL EXPECT!!! ALL DELICIOUS. AND THEIR STAFF ARE WARM AND CORDIAL, READY TO OFFER ANY INFORMATION ON THEIR "SWEETS" AND MAY EVEN OFFER A SAMPLE OF SOME...THE PRICES ARE A BIT HIGHER THAN A SUPERMARKET, BUT WELL WORTH IT! MY HUSBAND AND I GO TO THE THIS BAKERY (on North Carrollton in New Orleans) FOR DESSERT, AFTER DINNING AT VINCENT'S ITALIAN RESTAURANT, FOR OUR DESSERT! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED, SO ENJOY!!!
Fabulous gelato, perfect pastries, excellent coffee. And good prices! There is nothing more classic New Orleans than Brocatos.
What really can I say about Angelo Brocato’s that wouldn’t be an echo of every other experience. I have yet to discover a pastry or ice cream that I haven’t liked. They’ve earned my repeat business.
Angelo Brocato's reminds me very much of growing up in Shreveport . My grandparents made the hard Italian cookies, we got there homemade canoli's on special holidays & family gatherings. It puts a smile on my face when I eat one of there canoli's, reminds me of the good times growing up.
Love brocatos . Pam miss Macky. Are the best. Like family. All the rest are a great team also. Busy, yet very pleasant and attentive. 😋💯❤ …
Oh my goodness I'm not even sure where to start. Everything I had was delicious. I didn't even get a chance to take photos. Give the almond macaroon and the melt-away a try. You won't be disappointed!

This Sicilian family has been making delicious and authentic Italian pastries, cookies and gelato in New Orleans since 1905. Get here. Enuf said. ...oh, and cappuccino too
The place is super excellent 👏 👌 💯 % recommended and super clean …
Delicious Italian desserts! First cannoli I've ever had and I'm hooked. Also really enjoyed the praline gelato.
Well deserving of it's legendary status. Everything here is amazing. Nevermind Cafe Du Monde, this is the first place you should go when in New Orleans. Park at the nearby Walgreens.
It's BROCATO's! But watch out for the chick with rainbow hair. My friend stepped aside so the people behind us could see the desert case, & rainbow advised her of cutting line! Ironic since we had been there longer! If ur gonna start something, at least KNOW what ur talking about. The lady at the register was very nice! Have a cannoli!
A new orleans staple for us locals. A Meza Crema and a half dozen canolli's are the norm for a visit. I've been going to this place for 20 years and it never dissapoints.
Great gelato and fast, polite service. The one time I bought cookies from them, they were surprisingly stale and I was glad they were cheap. But the gelato never fails.
Disney World to some is the happiest place on Earth, but Brocato's for me is all that in a bakery case. The cookies are delicious (biscotti, I'm looking at you), and the gelato is flavorful. The specialty Spumoni is the type of dessert that makes you feel good, not just for the taste but also the experience of eating something you know was crafted with love. No matter if you are local or visiting, this neighborhood confectionary makes you feel right at home.
Life changing Italian cafe with perfect pastries and homemade gelato. Espresso was divine, service excellent and has a true community feel. 10/10
I love Angelo Brocato. Really great desserts, not expensive at all. The Spamoni is excellent. The only downside is finding a parking space.
I LOVE ANGELO BROCATOS. I love the girls that work there. It's been a staple place for an espresso and a canoli for me for nearly 20 years. Family business, and you can expect a line.
Never disappoints! Best Gelato ever! Go there every time we come to New Orleans. Usually every day of our visit!
Bracato's is the go-to place for pastries and frozen desserts in Mid-City New Orleans. We got there just before closing, and had ice cream to cap off a wonderful day of exploring and eating our way through New Orleans. You will see Brocato's in NCIS new orleans episodes, and their pastries are featured in many small groceries in the New Orleans. Definitely bring some home - these are fabulous "old world" italian pastries! My regrets for not taking any pictures - I was preoccupied with my Gelato!
The strawberry cheese cake gelato is so rich and moist,it just melts in your mouth!! The plain cheesecake just wonderful. You have to try it out!
I love Angelo's. The pastries are to die for. The gelato flavors are the best. One place you have visit when visiting New Orleans.
I have eaten the gelato and spumoni at Brocato's for over 60 years. First tasting the spumoni at the original location in the French Quarter in the 50's and now having their gelato on Carollton Ave. Coffee, pasterries, gelato. What more could you ask for.
Only in New Orleans you will find such a gem. Very good pastries and Ice cream. Impecable service. Hard to find parking. Have to break the law and park by wallgreens...
Instead of wasting time telling you what's good, I'll just tell you what isn't good on the menu: when you buy biscotti and then leave it sitting on the counter for a week or two and it goes stale so you have to throw it out.
My family has been visiting Brocato's in some form or fashion for over 50 years. When my uncle, who hasn't lived here in 20 years, comes in from Georgia, his first trip is to Mid City to get a few bags of Italian cookies, as many miniature cannolis as his freezer will fit, and enough spumone to seal a house.
My death row meal? 2 cannolis; one chocolate and the other original, from Brocato's. No other will do. I've had some piss poor cannolis in my life, and I still use Brocato's as a reference point.
Full disclosure: my family is Sicilian too, so maybe we're a little biased.
really delicious gelato --had the stracciatella. the pastries are also very good --sampled the ricotta cookies, and all the others looked fantastic.
I really love their ice cream it’s my number one ice cream and everything else is good I also tried many deserts all of them were delicious
Great almond macaroons. Gelato and Italian ice are incredible, the espresso is pretty good with some biscotti. Closed on Mondays.
Went here on my trip to New Orleans and I loved it! The girls behind the counter where very friendly and patient while I decided what I wanted. I went with the Spamoni and it was delicious!
Oh Soooo Good.
I got a Lemon Slice with Marscapone Cheese. My husband got a Baba Rhum Cake. Both were delicious.
Best place for Italian desserts. Gelato, freshly made cannoli, and seed & fig cookies. Great cappuccino.
As always, Brocato's is a great place to come have dessert and coffee. It is a favorite with me, my husband and our friends.
Truly a marvelous place. Best bakery anywhere. Feels as if you are in Italy. Wonderful staff. You feel like family.
Went in today after my Doctor's appointment and it was fantastic. You never disappoint...Dan is doing a great job
Canoli, coffee, and gelato are what my family and I had. It is a wonderful shop with friendly service! Great mid city desserts and coffee place.
We stopped by to celebrate a birthday, we ordered the pumpkin cheese cake and two cups of coffee. Delicious and very quick service!
Like stepping back in time, but with kick tail gelato and pastries. The Creole Cream Cheese is to die for. PARKING IS AT A PREMIUM because the shop is iconic and worth any hassle.
Miss Micky is a New Orleans treasure. Been going to Angelo. Brocato since I was in diapers. Nothing has changed. Same great cookies and gelato. New Orleans institution.
Best cannolis in New Orleans and better than any I had in Italy. Great coffee, gelato, Italian pastries and a great atmosphere.
Lot of good pastries and gelato.
Variety of dessert, and this cake so delicious. If ever you visit New Orleans , visit this place and try all this sweets. 😆❤ …
Napoleons and cannoli worth twice the calories! Lost a star due to crazy high prices, $4 for 1 thin napoleon???? Really?
I'm born and raised in this City packed with Great Things to Eat, BUT This is a MUST VISIT,,, You won't be Sorry, Yes the Italian Ices & Ice Cream are Great, But if You Don't pick out a Box or 2 of assorted Pastries and COOKIES, You've missed an Opportunity that You will REGRET,,,
Gelato was good and canolli was ok I ordered two regular canollis and when I returned home and went to eat them later that night I noticed they were half vanilla and half chocolate which was not what I wanted and the girl who took my order was just plane rude and gave me an overall bad experience, an employee can truly ruin an experience for you.
Some of the best gelato I've ever had and the cannolis are not only made fresh, but they're created right in front of you!
It's always a treat to swing by whenever you're in the neighborhood of mid city Orleans for delicious Italian goodies.
Some of the better gelato and ice cream combinations I've had in the US so far. Excellent atmosphere and fine prices.
A historic place for sweets. $4 for 2 scoops of pretty tasty gelato and an array of so many othet sweets to chose from.
They carry some unique ice cream and cookies. The almond and pinenut cookies are very tasty in particular.
Me and my wife have been going to this establishment for several years and have not found better gelato yet. Service is fast and friendly. A must eat in New Orleans!
The Peppa Rum cake was scrumptious!!! Very cute place inside.
Born and raised in New Orleans about one mile from the Brocato's on N Rampart . My family and I were regular costumers. I live 60 miles outside of New Orleans now but any time I am in New Orleans I always make a visit to Brocato's to stock up on cookies and canolas.
This place has not only great ice cream, but it is run by an Italian family and has great pastries and other authentic Italian goods as well.
Angelo Bracato's has been in operation for over 100 years. The gelato is always fantastic. They also make numerous italian pastries and they are also fantastic.
The ice cream taste great! Nothing like regular ice cream with a better flavor. My family loved it!
Classic. Great gelato. Worth the visit! They also have other Italian pastry type things
Best ice cream ever
Love love love this icecream store for their hand crafted icecreams. Unique flavors, unique desserts...this is an icecream lover's heaven.
Absolutely loved the ice cream here, some unique flavors I've never heard of before!
Great selection of pastries many European style and good service. Even so it is always busy we got the table easily.
Local fave. Been in business since early 1900’s. The cannoli is delicious as are their other dessert options.
Good old fashioned place to get gelato and Italian cookies something for everyone here. Not sure whey they need a armed security guard/bouncer at the door but I feel safer?
Always a fantastic experience in an opportunity to go to a real old-fashioned family-owned Italian pastry and Coffee House not to mention their spamoni + cannolli!!!
Best Canoli I've ever had! The Ginger bread is to die for.
Best cannolis in the south! Love the biscotti Regina and the Spumoni is to die for. Delizioso!
Where to start. Through the door and lose yourself! Too many amazing memories hope this place lives forever. Love Angelo Brocatos
Excellent, I don't have enough good things to say about this place although it is always crowded. I'll frequently stop here for dessert after a meal somewhere else.
Of course it was spectacular. Definitely a New Orleans treat for a special dessert after a special meal.
Fantastic Gelato with amazing texture. Plus bunches of other gorgeous desserts. Delicious amaretto cheesecake.
One of a Kind place. Family an operated for 100 yrs. The one and only and first Italian pastry shop with ice cream in the city.
The best gelato place ever! This made me fall in love with gelato. Service was great and prices were not bad.
The deserts are delicious the cappuccinos great. Get the vanilla cannoli it's out of control, ice cream was good too
Awesome. Forget counting calories! Best Cannolis.
Just great.. Go and you won't be disappointed
Excellent "old school" New Orleans ice cream parlor! If you don't come here once on your trip to New Orleans your trip is not complete!
Fabulous place for gelato and pastries. I would highly recommend it!
The best Cannoli in the US. We've been coming to Brocato's for years. Always a must visit when we come to NOLA!
What a gem. This is a must stop bakery.
Best. Place. Ever.
I am born and raised New Orleans and I have loved Brocatos since I was a kid. Some of the very best gelato and pastries around
Service terrific,product excellent
I was shocked at prices, bit it is all hand made.Good special occasion spot for treats.
My to go italian place in town... Great pastries and coffee... You will always get fresh and quality bakery.
Good desserts but I didn't see any sanitizing going on and the bathroom was a disgrace
The Cannoli Gelato was creamy with chips of chocolate and pistachio. The most authentic gelato outside of Italy.
Nice place to unwind in the afternoon to have coffee and a treat. Everything looked too good and tasted even better
This 100-year-old bakery and gelateria is, admittedly, the definition of old-school. But, like Paid in Full, Angelo Brocato’s holds up. The cannoli at this Mid-City institution are filled to order, ensuring crisp, crunchy shells. The stuffed ricotta ends are then coated in chopped green pistachios, and served by tiny, Sicilian-American nonna-types on doily-lined plates. Because when you’re here, you’re family
The absolute best place for an Italian dessert! I stop by every time I'm in the area!
Gelato was amazing! Cannoli is also delicious! Great little place to enjoy a treat!
Since a Bambino in my mother's arm we have been eating pastry and gelato from one or another Brocato's. Wonderful now I am so near the last one surviving that I can walk over anytime the urge hits me. I even wrote a short story about "The Hunt for The Red Cannoli" in my blog.
Known about this place for a long time, heard astounding reviews via word of mouth. The Gelato and Cannoli were sooooo good.
This is the dessert that is served in heaven.
A cute place to sit a minute and enjoy your gelato. Love this place.
Very good lemon ice. Almond macaroon cookies delicious; other cookies not so good.
Fantastic dessert place. Old school traditional Italian confectionery. Friendly staff and wonderful people.
Best gelato and dessert I. NOLA. No one beats them. A fun atmosphere for the family or for a date.
Service is always fast and great. Completely recommend this place to anyone. Canoli is a must try from here and so is the tiramisu 👌🏼 …
Classic gelato and cannoli spot with an old world feel. Italian dessert delicacies that you can't find anywhere else in the city.
Very busy and crowded but the treats were phoenomenal I had the banana foster cheesecake and the banana pudding gelato yummy
