Reviews of Sebastian Joe's Ice Cream Cafe
annie
i was recommended this place by a friend who had great reviews about this place ! a single scoop was about $5 and i’m pretty sure it was the flavor i ordered (vegan strawberry) but it honestly just tasted alright to me (like not in a bad way but to me, it isn’t worth driving 30 minutes to have). sebastian joes does however such a cool interior design and i love the feel it brings. another thing to keep in mind is that the bathroom needs a code but i’m pretty sure if you ask the staff, they’ll give it to you ! this place also has outdoor seating :)

Today was a great day because I had ice cream from two different local spots - what could be better? I had Bebe Zito’s ice cream in the afternoon and hopped over to Sebastian Joe’s later in the evening. While Bebe Zito’s ice cream is unique, inventive, rich, and luscious, Sebastian Joe’s ice cream doesn’t evoke strong adjectives. From my perspective, it’s fine. It’s far from bad, but for the price you’re paying and the length of the line you’re waiting in, I expect much more. To me, their ice cream is forgettable…

A Minneapolis landmark.
Used to be cash only now it's CARD only.
Truly seems like Sebastian Joe's has continued to produce ice cream at the same level of excellence that had made them famous all these many years.
Sebastian Joe's ice cream, to be clear, is absolutely excellent. If it's not the best in town, I'd love to know what is!
Greg Gielda
There is "Ice Cream", and there's Ice Cream...
This is the latter option.
Rich enough to leave your lips feeling coated with the cream...
Flavors that are beyond the grocery store aisle or even the typical ice cream parlor.
Do yourself the favor and find out for yourself what you've been missing if you haven't stopped by Sebastian Joe's ... Note that on hot days? There will be a line. There's a reason for that. It's well worth the wait.

I had this amazing banana flavoured ice cream with cake chunks in it but unfortunately I don't remember the name (and it's not Pavarotti) of this flavour. Now every time I visit , the first thing I do is check for this flavor by describing it and the response I get is 'are you looking for birthday cake flavor' but that's not the one. Does anyone else recognize the flavor?
Update April’22 - found the ice cream flavor. It’s banana cream pie.

Such a perfect Minneapolis ice cream shop! Absolutely encourage year round. Sebastian Joes has a bunch of options for both regular and vegan options. Yum!!! Also has a water fountain with water cups.
A few seating spots inside.
John Ward
One of my favorite ice cream places in the Twin Cities. Employees are always friendly and patient even during the busiest of times. I like that they have a good rotation of options. The prices are a little high in my book.

*Yawn* oh right, ice cream. Sorry, but Sebastian Joe's just doesn't hit it as anything spectacular. This time I couldn't even get impressed enough to ask for a sample of any flavor. My daughter's choice, while "good" flavored, was still underwhelming as the promised things in the ice cream were so tiny that she couldn't distinguish anything that was promised to be in it. That's how I feel about it - I want chunks in my ice cream and they need to be big enough to chew or why bother. SJs just doesn't ever seem to do this in their flavor choices. If I want just plain ice cream it will be with food - like vanilla with apple pie. I wouldn't go out of my way to get this ice cream, imho. My daughter kinda said she might, but probably not when there are so many other choices for better ice cream and flavors.
My husband and I shared an ice cream sandwich - oreo ice cream between 2 chocolate chip cookies. Enjoyable but mostly because I really liked the basically frozen cookie.
Nice place, nice employees, boring ice cream.
Audra
Some of my favorite ice-cream of all time. Salted Carmel is the best.
Jeremy Payne
Great ice cream, large scoops! The Oreo is a must try.
Daniel Pino
Layout/atmosphere
*Tables in back; gallery paintings on the wall; production machines for ice cream off to side of main counter where larger orders are taken
Service
*Good
Food/drink
*The Pavorotti (banana, caramel & chocolate chips with vanilla ice cream) - Good; interesting combination

Yum! I've been coming to Sebastian Joe's for years now and it is consistently the same quality of ice cream, not to mention delicious. They offer ice cream, baked desserts and coffee items. One scoop of ice cream is $4 and two is $5.40 and three is $6 some. The flavors rotate and there are seasonal flavors as well.
I came in last night during the snow storm (very Minnesotan of me) with my family. I got the Nicollet Ave. Pothole ice cream, which was delicious. I'm craving it again just thinking about it.
They tend to be open late especially in the summer. Conveniently located in Uptown in Minneapolis and near Lake of the Isles.
MTA DC
Friendly staff, good ice cream!
Wish they had more flavours though!
Natasha Roozen
Huge selection of flavors but we weren't allowed to sample any ahead of time so I was really reluctant to try something new, but I did and sadly I was disappointed.
The two flavors I chose(toasted coconut &Blackberry) were ok but had I sampled them beforehand I wouldve chose something else. Nothing wrong with them just not what I was personally expecting or craving at the time...I didn't finish it just had a couple bites of each. My friends were happy with their selections.
The man behind the counter smiled and was friendly and helpful, he answered our questions best he could and was very patient as we ordered.
Louie R.P.
I love this place! Coffee and ice cream together! So awesome. Flavors are amazing and the coffee is too. First service is amazing. I always feel welcomed when I come.
T Hanson
Still one of the best!! Try Chocolate Coyote if they have it, otherwise Oreo is rough to beat. They do cones, cups, shakes, and malts (malt>shake), so there's something for everyone.
Megan Kemper
I got the raspberry chocolate chip flavor ice cream and it was decent. If I went back I'd probably order something else. I think the raspberry was a bit overpowering but if you love raspberries then you'd probably like it. The service was great, cute location too. Nice little patio area ad well as some covered indoor seating. It's also within walking distance from a nice lake. I'd definatly give it another chance if I lived close.
Andrew Elegante
In some ways it's good that I've become so sensitive to sugar that I can't eat much ice cream in one sitting because otherwise I probably would have had a 20 scoop cone. Probably would have blown my food budget for the say, too. I tried 3 flavors, they were all great. Ended up with a 2 scoop cone, before dinner mint and Pavratti. I'm in North Dakota now but am strongly considering going back for the oatmeal raisin cookie I didn't get. Please try the others and let me know how they are.
I recommend you take your cone for a walk through the local neighborhood and enjoy the beautiful historic homes while you walk off some of those calories. If you go far enough you can go back for more!
They also have coffee which looked good but I didn't try it. I did see a coffee roasting machine meaning they either roast it themselves or they have a much larger decorating budget than I do.
Ali Chellen
I recently went vegan and wanted to find a good icecream. The vegan strawberry icecream is great! Thank you. Your staff was very kind and helpful. 💓🙌😻🍨 …
Kelly Moe
Love love love this ice cream! Great interesting flavors so creamy and delicious.
They will let you taste with tiny spoons, we all enjoyed a cool refreshing dessert here. The waffle cones were fresh crunchy and home made.
Elee Cee
I really liked this hip ice cream shop. Unique flavors to choose from. The strawberry banana is yummy and the vanilla tastes like a classic vanilla bean. So good. I recommend the banana split to share.
Ray Saunders
I once heard someone use the phrase "tastes so good, it'll make you want to smack your mama" which may work for some but my mom was a correctional officer and would probably knock me out. That being said, this ice cream was so good I'd give her a stern but respectful talking to.
Linda A
Mmmmmmmm YUM! Some of the creamiest and dreamiest ice cream ice had in a while. It was Friday night and pretty packed. Thankfully, I had friends who waited in line for me... and for the number of ppl in line.... seemed to go pretty quickly.
Only reason I can't give 5 stars is that they were so busy, they had no time to clean the tables and (i understand why), but a code is needed for the restroom. Oh and parking is an adventure.... but overall great ice cream!
Tristan Klausegger
Sebastian Joe's is such a Minneapolis classic. My favorite flavors are (the flavor formerly known as) Nicollet Ave Pothole, and the Pavarotti. Great artwork on the walls (for sale, reasonable prices) and a cozy interior with great windows and great light.
Jeffrey Jones
The ice cream is fantastic... I couldn't stop eating. Great names for the ice creams! It was so worth the drive to go to the original!!
Jay Wu
Oh Sebastian, you crazy little thang. You know us Minnesotans so well, you know we still crave ice cream in the dead of winter, you have taken advantage of our endurance to the cold. What’s more you tease us further by staying open for late night cravers! When the temperatures are well below freezing! How could you continue to serve this delicious ice cream knowing we will be extra cold and will have regrets right after??? Do you not know any shame?
Katy Conrad
Must visit for ice cream lovers. Tons of delicious homemade flavors! There’s tons of seating here and it’s the perfect treat for a 3 degree Minnesota day!
Ammarah Sadiq
The icecream is okay, nothing to write home about. It just tastes like putting cold sugar in your mouth. Service is great, staff is very nice.👌 alot of people swear by their icecream I just personally don't think its that great. …
Breann Silfverston
All the ice cream is specialty flavors, dont expect to walk in and order the old standby of plain chocolate, vanilla or strawberry. Although lots of crazy concoctions of flavors - the ice cream was really good. There are kosher & vegan options available. Cute little malt shop style that has seating and coffee shop vibes. So grab your favorite flavor and sit down to enjoy.
Sophia Baltazar-pinos
First time having it. Absolutely to die for!
The chai and banana cream pie is amazing! 10/10 would recommend to everyone!!
David Deckert
We stopped by for a late afternoon snack. I would have given the ice cream 5 stars for flavor and selection but docked them a star for service related issues which I wouldn't expect to happen in a subsequent visit. My daughter ordered an Oreo milkshake that tasted more like milk than Oreo... it was rectified quickly when mentioned to them. My wife ordered the ultimate sundae with Heathbar sprinkled over it. It came out & was handed to her covered in Oreo dust. Upon noticing, she mentioned it to another worker & just asked to add Heathbar to it to make it easier. They agreed but came back later & had no Heathbar to add...they were all out. They were very accommodating but it was an unexpected complication. Hopefully, it won't be experienced during the really busy times.
Kayvan M
Best ice-cream in town. My favorites are Oreo and raspberry chocolate chip.
Sam E
Super great ice cream! One of the best places in the Twin Cities. Lots of variety of flavors, for sure something for everyone! I've taken a ton of people here and theyve all loved it! Even when the lines are long the wait isn't too bad. Staff are friendly. There's seating in and outside. Parking is a bit tricky because there's not a dedicated lot but there's usually spots not too far back in the neighborhood. My only wish is that the scoops were a bit bigger, though I understand it's all in house made.
Jason Christenson
The staff was phenomenal. They were super nice and the food was tasty, I’ll be at a little expensive. They really know how to make a good cup of coffee here! we went in the middle of the afternoon and while it wasn’t empty there were still plenty of seating. Five star service, five star food, five star coffee.
David Machov
For those of you visiting or uninitiated: Minneapolis is an ice cream town. There's a lot of excellent shops here but Sebastian joes is a local staple for good reason. Great texture, excellent consistency and a vast collection of flavors that perfectly balance originally without falling into gimmicks or fads. I've had dreams about The Flavor Formerly Known as Nicolette Avenue Pothole and their Oreo flavor is not one to be taken for granted. And if you're reading this because you're from here and somehow haven't been: what the heck are you doing?
Pritam Chavhan
Great variety of ice cream with a quick service they are open till 11 pm so enjoy your ice cream. Stay alert with the neighborhood people tho sometimes some knucklehead might bump into you.
Joshua Balanuik
Great atmosphere and friendly, quick service. And great ice cream, of course! Free samples make it much easier to decide what you want, as well. This is one of those small businesses that feels like a cornerstone of the community. I've been here a few times and I've never been disappointed.
K N
It was okay. I got the dairy free ice cream since I’m lactose intolerant and it was made from coconut milk which isn’t my favorite because it tastes too coconutty. I wouldn’t suggest this place if you’re lactose intolerant. There aren’t many options.
Roosevelt Lake
It’s you want a good ice cream head here. Friendly staff.
Alex Pellegrineschi
Very good ice-cream shop with high quality ice cream flavors. Because the Cov19 pandemic social distancing lines can be a bit long, but you can use their web site to choose the flavors that you want and speed up the queue.
Kim Blackmore
A staple for ice cream in the twin cities. Solid classic flavors and fun creative ones as well.
Lizsandra Edwards
A fun place to go to! Very family friendly and prices are good. I’ve taken my nieces there and they have a nice area outside to sit and relax. It’s also near other cute shops. The best part? The ice cream of course!
Celestia
A reliable choice for a cold treat. I've never been there only to find it too busy, usually little to no line in my experience. A good selection of flavors and sweet upgrades to choose from. The staff is patient and friendly and I appreciate that the space always appears clean.
Amy Abigail
Hands down my favorite ice cream in the world, with consistently mediocre service I'm sad to say. My requests to pay for my ice cream before they serve it up is not heard, allowed or ignored; when I call in pre-orders I need to convince the staff to take my credit card to prepay & confirm the item will be available (there is a distinct "stoner" level of energy with confusing the numbers/name etc, always just wanting me to just "stop by" and not preorder a party pickup) -- It kills me a little to give 3 stars for service since I bring new people there regularly & even rented coolers w/ dry ice to take the Rasp Choc Chip to my wedding in another state. Such tasty ice cream! It's too bad they don't foster attentive staff like Cafe Latte & other similar counter service places seem to do.
tina c
Great homeade ice cream. Nice staff. Awesome flavors.
Dave Giancristoforo
AMAZING. The staff was outstanding super helpful. Let us taste so many flavors. Also made a wonderful malt!
Sage Tones Family Photography
I like Ice-cream in general, I tried the chocolate ice cream and that was fine, but I tried the coffee flavor and it was so bad I don’t know what it tasted like but it didn’t taste like coffee. The most disappointing thing is that they don’t offer samples 🥲
However, if you like coffee their coffee beans are very good!
Jacob Pfister
Great ice cream place! Family’s been going for years!
Jade M
Amazing coffee and wonderful ice cream choices. Really like how they offer ice cream that's pretty innovative. I'm not vegan, but they often have more than 1 vegan choice. Not many ice cream places do that. Their ice cream is a smidgen pricey. Yet it is totally fabulously delicious and worth it. I also like that it impresses visitors that I treat to a night out in the uptown/lowry hill area. Staff is incredible too. They are helpful, cool, knowledgeable, and kind
Carol Lange
Fantastic TC Icon for Ice Cream. Have the Raspberry Choc Chip, but also KARE 11 Sunrise is awesome, lemony greatness!
Steve Gilb
The Nicollet Avenue Pothole flavor was delicious.
Precious
I had the Mint Grapefruit sorbet. I'm not a big fan of grapefruit, and its probably something I won't get again, but for what its worth I enjoyed it on a cone.
John Longaecker
1st time visitor, Outstanding choices for ice cream, cone types, or bowl, I had the Raspberry / Dark chocolate and even though I'm not much of a dark chocolate eater, this was great!
Carter Greene
For the last 20 or so years I have had Sebastian Joe's as my TOP ice cream spot in the metro. That has still not changed. The staple flavors are sure to please everyone! They also have an amazing rotating selection of seasonal. Flavors that will make you feel nostalgic. It's always an amazing experience for me when I come here and I will continue to until I no longer can! BEST ICE CREAM IN MINNESOTA!!
Danielle Olson
This place has such a cool energy, I love it! They were very limited on flavors, for example no standard mint ice cream but 2 of many of them. The ice cream I got wouldn’t have been my first choice since you still cannot sample due to covid, but trying everyone else’s ice cream I know I can come again and find something great!
Anthony
Yes go here if you like ice cream!
Samantha Marion
Pup cups, milkshakes, nicollet pothole ice cream thee absolute tastiest!
Leigh Miller
Love going here for ice cream. It's a great experience
Olha Rouse
Great location, cool flavors. Would recommend salted caramel and Pavarotti flavors 👌 …
Tim Stewart
I love their ice cream it's the best
Robert Muller
Great twin cities ice cream. A must go if your visiting. A lot different flavors and made fresh. Have coffee and other frozen treats. Bathrooms and street parking, no parking lot.
Jaison Samuel
A must visit if you happen to be in Minneapolis!! Amazing taste and experience.
Brad Norton, PMP, CSM (Brad)
I have been frequenting Sebastian Joes for 3 decades. It's the place for ice cream in any season.
Nicholas McCarthy
Some of the best ice-cream I have ever tasted! They offer a very wide selection of flavors. They not only offer ice-cream, but they also offer milkshakes and malts, with the same flavors offered as for ice-cream, and they also offer coffee along with some pastries that would be found at most local cafes.
The atmosphere is very nice. It is a modern style, with many tables indoor and also outdoor seating. The line can get quite long, bit it moves very quickly and is totally worth it. Service is very good, with multiple employees serving ice-cream at a time, and they will also provide things such as a cup for dripping ice-cream right away.
I would recommend this place for anyone looking for a wide variety of choices and some good ice-cream.
MN King1399
The service was amazing!! Isabel did an awesome job that day. She deserves a raise!! Thanks for making our experience so good Isabel. Definitely will be visiting again soon.
M L
Sebastian has a great variety of interesting flavors and a fun selection of dipped cones. Their ice cream is always tasty. Since we are all trying to keep 6 feet apart in line it is hard to see what varieties are available till you are getting served. There are not descriptions of each flavor written on the board so you'll have to ask the person helping you. Great stop for ice cream in the area.
Camila Pepe
On Apple Maps it showed that they were open until 11. Apparently it was wrong and they close at 10. We walked in 5min before 10 and the door was closed, a worker came out and said “to make it quick because they wanted to make it on time home” I work in the service Industry so I obviously decided not to get the ice cream. I just found it very rude the way that the girl talked to us. Hopefully we can better experience next time :/
Liza Yorek
Such amazing ice cream, fun environment, servers are attentive! ( a little pricey but you're paying for QUALITY ice cream!
Arshad Malik
Great place and location. It's open late until 11pm.
Anthony Barnes
Sebastian Joe's has amazing flavors of ice cream and. The secret is go at 8pm on a weeknight because. They close at 10pm and it's not as crowded. And there's plenty of parking and outside seating to enjoy ice cream and people watch.
Benjamin Frost
Love this place! Best ice cream in town by far. Oatmeal raisin cookie ice cream is to die for.
S A
Ice cream place taste so good and they have Different flavors, would visit the place again!
Sydney Bieringer
This is a fan favorite ice cream shop in Minneapolis. Everyone knows and loves Sebastian Joes. This location is super cute and has a bigger inside than the other and also has outdoor seating. There is also street parking near by. I have recently gotten into their ice cream sandwiches and they are my favorite. The cookie part is so good and of course the ice cream is good. You can’t go wrong with anything at Sebastian joes.
Mark M.
I never had such great ice cream before. Try the Raspberry Chocolate and the Oreo Ice Cream (Fresh Oreos mixed in) these kinds of flavors are not available anywhere else. Also the staff were just awesome people. This the actual best ice Cream place in the Twin Cities and I am not saying that because I want to make this place overrated,. It's because I am really impressed with my fantastic experience here.
Shelby
They have my three favorite things: pastries, ice cream, and coffee. I've never had a disappointing experience here, the staff are always very friendly and fun.
Scooter Magee
They've got a smart menu and they move people through. Ice cream is good. Only problem is too many other people agree.
Nadesha Richardson
Pretty good, nothing crazy special. I did appreciate that they had vegan options that tasted great!
Laura Kim
Our favorite ice cream stop after visiting the Minneapolis Sculpture Gardens!
Liz Smithson
I think this is one of the best ice cream shops I've ever been to and I've been to a lot of ice cream shops! They have a variety of flavors and I love that they rotate their more unique flavors through so there are always new flavors to try. There is typically a long line but it moves pretty quickly and is worth the wait!
Laura Potter
If you love good ice cream, you have to go here! They have classic flavors, but you will be blown away by their other creative and oh so tasty flavors. Not sure what to get? No worries as you can sample any of the flavors before you make a decision. The staff were super helpful and friendly. Outside there is a patio area that makes you feel like you are at a secluded Villa. Great place to socialize with your family and friends. So go try out the amazing ice cream while you sit back and enjoy the area!
Josh Mervis
This is the best place! So many good ice cream’s to choose from, my absolute favorite is the raspberry chocolate chip. This seems to be the absolute favorite of a good many people who frequent the store. To be honest, it is always excruciatingly difficult to decide which flavor to get. I usually decide to get several.
Ben Harkins
Always new and interesting flavors, but the staples stay strong. The cones are good, and the scoop size is fair.
Outdoor seating in the summer is fun, even though it's in a little alleyway. The line can can pretty long, but it moves fast.
During the winter, you get a discount that increases as it gets colder, which makes getting ice cream in freezing weather an even better idea.
Lots of indoor seating, a little stickiness from other ice cream lovers compliment the whole experience.
John Vang
Fantastic service! The ice cream is top notch as well. Even if you haven't tried the many flavors available, they will gladly give you samples to try first if you aren't confident. I can understand why it's so popular as I am now one of them. You won't regret coming here for fresh and tasty ice cream.
Alex Barrick
They have a great process going during these challenging times. My wife and I love coming here on Sundays. It's very reassuring to us that they will bring it out to you, if you order ahead of time. And if you haven't tried the raspberry chocolate flavor, you're missing out
Karinne Tarshish
A Minnesota must. Great ice cream, ranging from classic flavors to non-traditional. Prices aren't too bad either. I have found that it is much cheaper to buy their ice cream by the quart though. The staff has always been great, too.
Glad that they have added more outdoor seating, because it is a perfect place to go anytime between spring and fall. I also come here in winter though...it's just that good. They also offer discounts the colder it gets!
Donald Nabity
I love this place.
I only have two very minor complaints that are easily overshadowed by how great the ice cream is. One is that their spoons are really flimsy for a hard-serve ice cream, but it should be enjoyed in a cone. Two is that I wish there were descriptions for the flavors that were easily visible.
Besides those two things, the ice cream here was wonderful! I got the Salty Caramel and it was smooth, flavorful, and balanced. I thought about getting extras since I never get caramel without chocolate, but this was perfect on its own. Homemade ice cream at it's finest.
Claire McManmon
Sebastian Joe's ice cream is always delicious! The waffle cones have the perfect crunch and the workers were friendly and helpful. The Nicollet Ave Pothole flavor was rich and had a fee mysterious pieces that turned out to be chocolate pb cups and something else a bit salty. The same kind of mystery that a real pothole has. Definitely recommend!
Rachel Kaufman
Best ice cream in Mpls/St Paul! It's been dangerous (in the best way) living so close to them these past few years. Almost didn't fit into my wedding dress because I stopped by so much over the summer/fall! One of my favorite places to take out of town friends and family, regardless of time of year.
Andy Sirianni
We have gone to this location 3 different times. Each time I go. I get the same salty caramel flavor. It is possible that it is hands down the best ice cream I have ever had.
Even on a cold fall evening there was a line to get to the counter. But the service is surprisingly quick.
As you can imagine with a long line there is also limited space to sit, in fact we once were in the line that was so long it wrapped around the tables in the dining area. But it was still worth the wait.
The ice cream was very reasonably priced as well.
If you have the time to go, please go. You will not be disappointed.
Mariska Smit
Great ice cream place close to the beach
Gianni Quilici
Been coming to this place for years! I love their Nicollet Ave Pothole and their Oreo. Otherwise, Salted Caramel is always a go-to. Their coffee is really tasty too so don’t hesitate to visit here.
Emily Saumer
This establishment is a go to for dessert when I am in the neighborhood. I will even travel for it when I have the craving. It has an excellent urban location. The flavors are amazing with many options. If you can't find a flavor you like, there will be different ones when you come back! If you are indecisive on what to get, (like me), they have free samples! You can get it in a bowl, cone or made into a shake. The cones even come in different flavors as the waffle cones are covered in chocolate and tasty morsels.
Eric Majerus
A well thought creative ice cream shop with a large selection of flavors. Many of them were exotic so I choose the Coffee Chip. The flavor was unfortunately void of coffee and actually tasted like a rum chocolate, but the consistency was smooth and soft. I'll come back and try more flavors, maybe even some espresso to drink.
Parking seemed to be street only. There is patio seating for outside.
Samuel Webster
Every hot summer weekend I make an extra stop at Sebastian Joe's for a pint of pavorotti. It is a Minneapolis mains day in one of the few places I can get banana flavored ice cream. Personal favorite you should try it if you have never been there I suspect you will return. Coffee is also particularly delicious, Right up there with Dunn brothers and 5 Watt.
Kellan McDonald
How have I not given a review of this place. If you want ice cream in South Minneapolis and even close to down town I recommend for sure this place. The flavors are not pretentious and hipster like a few other places in uptown. They have a multitude of ways to enjoy the ice cream from cakes, to sandwiches, to cones. The Nicolette pothole ice cream cake is out of this world. Even thier coffee and espresso is good. If you can make the drive to the Upton location go there. If you don't want to drive that far this location is good too.
Oleksiy Lysenko
Coffee great, ice cream not.
1 ear ago: - coffee good, sorbet good.
Lizzie S
Service wasn't good and ice cream was pretty mediocre!
Clark's family Moving & Storage
I love this place Around Christmas time me and my daughter would go here at least once or twice a week the people are really friendly and ice cream is really amazing

; Cute joint. Fast and friendly service. Flavors must change daily? They have a really 🔥 lemon sorbet and Vietnamese coffee ice cream. Love this place for a late night treat. …
Emily
This is a great ice cream shop located just SW of downtown. It's pretty easy to get to, there is street parking nearby, and a nice patio area during the warmer months. My favorite flavor is the Nicollet Avenue Pot Hole! Prices are not cheap, but are pretty standard for ice cream places nowadays.

***June UPDATE ***
Open after renovations!
******************
I moved here last summer from Chicago and finding this ice cream was the sole // biggest highlight of the move. My favorite is the Talking Oreo!
I love their Oreo ice cream, it truly embodies the flavor of an Oreo. It's not just a lazy interpretation with vanilla ice cream and cookie chunks.
As far as experience, there is usually a line but plenty of seating. Best of all, there is a cute store next door, Patina, that during the warmer months, offers over-sized chairs to sit sidewalk side.
All the employees are young, energetic and very accommodating! They even offer free samples.
I've only had the ice cream but I'm intrigued by their coffee. They offer it for sale by the bag, so it must be good.
Never had their baked goods or treats, but they look good!
Yay for ice cream and yay for supporting local shops!

This place is a jewel of the Twin Cities, and if you haven't been here, you owe it to yourself to go. Delicious ice cream at the perfect temp, lots of flavors, and cakes and pints to go. Love it!!!
Alison Lesperance
Excellent selection of really great ice cream. My favorite is the raspberry chocolate chip. Great in shake version as well as any cone. They have homemade specialty cones, waffle cones, sugar cones, cake cones, bowls, and frozen cakes. Large variety of hand-scooped ice cream and sorbet. Coffee and pastries available as well. Often long lines but they move quickly enough and are worth the wait. Friendly staff and you can sample anything to make sure you find your perfect ice cream flavor. Handpacked ice cream in larger quantities available to take home as well. My favorite place for ice cream in the Twin Cities.
zohre nemati
Very nice ice cream and great staff. The good thing is they're open till 11 pm. I saw pretty good cakes there too but I have not tried them. There is a nice area that you can sit there and have your ice cream. At first I didn't realize about that because it's kinda hidden! There are restrooms here too.
e skopp
Ice cream was delicious. I had the raspberry chocolate chip and the flavor was superb. Sat outside because of COVID. There are some shaded areas on the sidewalk.
Emily Brink
I cannot say enough good things about Sebastian Joe's. They have such amazing ice cream in so many new and interesting flavors- it is a Minneapolis institution! The staff at this shop in particular were so lovely and patient with our large and indecisive group. Their coffee is also OUT OF THIS WORLD, so go there for that as well. Right now they also have really cute shirts that have flavors on the back, which I am using for Christmas presents for the fam 😏
Elexa Holcomb
Great ice cream
You should deff read this review then check it out for yourself
Mike Ferguson
Every time my wife and I come here the line is literally wrapped around the building which should tell you all you need to know. I'm not a big ice cream guy but my wife is and their unique flavors are pretty cool. Staff is extremely friendly and even though the line was very long we were able to get in and out within minutes.
JJ Cutuli
Wonderful, fresh ice cream; By far the best around. Because they make it themselves, they frequently experiment with new flavors. I doubt they will ever beat their raspberry chocolate chip (you MUST try that one), but it's sometimes fun to experience their experiments. The ambiance is relaxed and a great place to relax. Go in the early evening during the summer to get a laugh from the throngs of kids sports teams waiting in line for their after-game ice cream.
Heather Roehr
Worth the wait, I promise. In my humble opinion, this is some of the best ice cream in Minnesota (and perhaps in the midwest, shh don't tell my home state, Wisconsin, I said that). The lines are sometimes long, more so in the summer, but I promise you will not regret it! My favorite is the raspberry chocolate chip, but there is something for everyone (they even have good vegan ice cream)! Of all the things I miss about Minneapolis now that I am back in Wisconsin, Sebastian Joe's is the one I miss the most.
Candice Pinta
Quick service, delicious flavors, amazing quality ice cream.
Pronoy Roy
Overall 4.5 because it's expensive ice cream for a "treat yo self" kinda day. I can't stress this enough: TREAT YO[ur] SELF. The ice cream was super creamy and delicious just BURSTING with flavor. They have all sorts and flavors of ice cream for every mood. I had the opportunity to taste black forest, Swiss almond, chocolate and Oreo flavors. None of it let me down.
The ambience is super wonderful and you might catch a crowd but it's worth the wait.
Rocci Berrini
A staple in the area. Amazing ice cream and coffee
Rachel Herr
This ice cream is out of this world!! The Oreo often will have full Oreos in it as the most wonderful surprise and the Nicolette Pot Hole is my absolute favorite - chocolate with caramel swirls and small crunchy bits of sea salt. If you want an ice cream experience you’ll remember, this is the place!
Marilyn J Green
Delicious ice cream and great customer service 😋 …
Lance Kinstner
I've only been once, but I would definitely return. I had a single scoop of salted caramel ice cream in a waffle cone. I'd recommend it!
Ashley Mitchell
Yum! We love Sebastian Joe's! A favorite Minneapolis summer activity is to walk around Lake of the Isles and then walk to get ice cream here. The flavors are so rich and delicious...
Our only "complaint" is that there's not a child or mini size for our little ones. And sometimes we don't want to choose a flavor to share with them ;). Still, we find ourselves going back whenever we can!
AnaM M
Expensive but delicious! My family loved it. I didn't give 5 stars because they never have mango icecream, we had been there 4 or 5 times and always said the same you have to order ahead. Disappointed 😞 …
Mirabella Olson
We went at rush hour to kill time before driving home after visiting the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. I got a latte, with a donut, and my friend got an ice cream bowl. It was really good quality, no wait, friendly service, easy parking outside, clean bathroom. Some of the best coffee I've had at a coffee bar. The main chat room was nicely decorated. Hadn't been since last summer. If we lived nearby, this would be my go to place. Lovely way to end an afternoon! 😊
Chris Halverson
Great variety of locally made ice cream. Daily rotating choice of flavors available in cone or cups. There is also a coffee shop and bakery in the same area if you also want a latte. Ample seating with a lot of places to plug in if you needed to do a little work while cooling off with your ice cream.
Roshan Rajkumar
Some of the best ice cream in Minnesota, and better than Ben & Jerry's. Not 101 flavors, but enough to tickle any palate. Give the Pavarotti a shot, or the Salted Caramel. Fabulous. Great home grown treasure.
Ben Jackson
Very pedestrian ice cream with less intense flavors than you might expect from modern premium ice cream stores. I'm always disappointed with the ice cream here sadly. The other treats are good, and the overall experience is still nice.
Shad Owen
I don't get the allure of this place. It's good, the ice cream is ok (you can get the same quality from the commercial brands) but I don't buy the swanky named ice cream marketing. You can put lipstick on a pig... It's decent and you'll be happy and they're open late. Beyond that, don't expect any magic.
Dylan Osiecki
Went here for ice cream after dinner, and it was a very good decision. The staff was very friendly, letting us try different samples of all the flavors, which actually made it kind of difficult to decide. Creative flavors and the fact that it's fresh made, make this an awesome place.
Nick Lawson
Some of the best ice cream in the twin cities! Walked in and picked up an ice cream cake they had ready to go. $22. Was awesome
Tyler Schoenhofen
The best ice cream in Minneapolis!
Gavin Lobefvhyki
I got their raspberry chip and loved it. The real reason I'll come back is because they had the most delicious chocolate dipped cone with sprinkles. The chocolate was super thick and the majority of the cone was dipped, not just the top inch and a half.
Regina Buchanan
Called to see if they made banana splits because my go to ice cream shop no longer does. I was told over the phone they did. Drove 15 minutes to get there only to be told they were out of bananas after I tested a few flavors and placed my order. Giving 2 stars because the ice cream was good. Disappointed in the customer service.
J P
The service was the problem. The serving shown was $7.50
For that price, I would have just liked to have been greeted with a smile, and thanked for my patronage.
The space was clean, and the ice cream was good. Not many choices as far as comes, which is important to me.
TallPockets
Hadn't been there in over 10 years but it hasn't changed. Great coffee and kudos to the kid just starting there. He was a fast learner and a good sport.
Eric Helmers
Known this family since I was 3 years old and they were as friendly and nice as their staff are now. Great ice cream and atmosphere! All our family love stopping here. Raspberry chocolate chip is out of this world.
abbey pattison
Super good local ice cream! They have really fun and unique flavors and it's one of our favorite summer spots. It's fun to sit outside and enjoy a nice summer treat.
Trenia Rexinger
A little on the pricy side, but not horrible. My kids liked their ice cream, but I wasn't a huge fan of mine.
Anthony Maki
One of the longest tenured ice cream shops in Minneapolis, they're great at what they do. You can tell by the lines out the door during the summer. They staff up, though, and quickly move through the line. They generally have around two dozen different flavors at a time, and you can buy in bulk to bring home too! My favorite is the Pavarotti (banana, chocolate chip, caramel).
Stefanie Foreman
My favorite ice cream place!! All their flavors are so good, and they have a super big selection.
Ian Allen
I love this place so much. I live close by and am always practicing restraint by not coming down here every night. While there are trendier places popping up all over the city every year, this place consistently puts out fantastic ice cream accompanied by great service. If there’s a line—it’s worth the wait!
Glen Morris
Great place for ice cream! You could order out (sidewalk delivery) or wear a mask and go inside! They have multiple locations and and very pleasant when you call! Would definitely recommend!
Halsey Hall Lindquist
Got some great candy cane flavored ice cream around Christmas time.
John Kauffman
Supurb! Flavors are spot on and thr texture perfectly creamy and smooth!
Cade Mickelson
Amazing ice cream! Great customer service! And wonderful atmosphere!! Would definitely recommend to go and ask for them to surprise you with an order!!!!!
Jessica Wilson
Love this ice cream shop - super creamy and perfect after biking, walking, running etc around the lakes. The raspberry chocolate chip is my favorite, but all the flavors are delicious!
T J
Looking for vegan ice cream? Come to this place it has great vegan options! The vegan blueberry is AMAZING!
Erica Nelson
Good flavor choices. I like that the choices are online so you can check ahead of time. On the pricey side. A fun place to go for a treat or date. Lines can be on the longer side. Fun to go to Patina next door as well.
Morgan Roddy
I'm not sure what the hype is. It is decent ice cream, but having been there twice and tried two different flavors, it is not exceptional but it is good. There are other ice cream and gelato places that are at least as good or better, with nicer service on top of it. I prefer Sonny's and Milkjam to Sebastian Joe's, personally, but the flavors they offer are more unique and playful whereas Sebastian Joe's are a bit more traditional.
Danielle Burress
Absolutely Amazing.. By far Favorite Ice cream in the twin cities. Stop what you are doing and go..The funnest flavors dubbed after Twin City Vibes and Places They offer good coffee and other treats too..Enjoy
Coach Les J Hill
Hmmmmm
How many positive things could I say......well over a hundred!!
They deliver the best and have for decades!
Employees are always top notch and super attentive and friendly!
Prices are on par and seating is plentiful......especially in the summer with the additional outdoor seating.
Pavarotti.......if you don't know...... Go in and ask.....WOW........Yabadabadoo.......Marvelous
Thank you Sebastian Joe's for creating the bar for all other ice creams to achieve!!!
Gonne Asser
Love! Raspberry chocolate chip is definitely the most delicious ice cream on this planet. The Linden Hills location could be in the South of France or in Bellagio on Lake Como in Italy. Seriously it's got fantastic flavors and magical charm!
emily mc
Love the flavor selection! Great neighborhood place to walk to in the summer. Friendly staff and pretty good prices. Only thing is my chocolate dipped sprinkle cone was soooo old I couldn't even chew it. It was so hard it was stuck in my teeth and i avtualky shipped my molar on it. I had to eat part of it in order to get my ice cream in the middle and at the bottom and then spit out the cone pieces otherwise I'd only get just the ice cream on the very top and that'd be a total waste of money. It was the first nice day of the season and I really really wanted the raspberry chocolate chip ice cream and walked 10 blocks to get it. Other than this one issue the one time I love love this place. Very cute and cozy inside too.
Karen Wang
Nice place to stop by after visiting the Walker Art Museum/Sculpture Garden. Really interesting flavors, free samples, friendly staff. Also the place smells so good when you first walk in because they have baked goods and coffee as well as ice cream. ^^;
$3.50 for a single scoop sugar cone, which is decent.
Khaled Ahmed (K)
I went there with my bro and his wife although I didn't order anything but the place was friendly and clean! They make their ice cream from scratch and they have lots of different spins! My brother and his was said their ice cream was tasty! I trust their judgement.
T. D (Qte)
Amazing ice cream, coffee and popovers!! The space is artsy & relaxed! They open early and close late. Staff is always fun, friendly and upbeat! I just flat out love SJ Ice Cream Café.
Amanda Cline
Best ice cream spot! Not dog friendly though.
Darren Wacker
I have only been twice, but Sebastian Joe's never disappoints. The selection is fantastic and they always have a unique flavor to tempt your tastebuds. If you have never been before, pop on over the next hot, humid day. There is great outdoor seating and a real neighborhood centric vibe. Also, the coffee is good too.
John Escritt
Good selection of ice cream, includes pleasant outdoor seating.
Joshua “Ominousicity” S
A cute (surprisingly large) ice cream parlor. The flavors are great and the variety is likely enough to ensure everyone leaves happy. I've had better waffle cones else where, but Sebastian Joe's is great regardless.
M M
A great ice cream place and Uptown staple, expect to wait in line for a few minutes during summer evenings. They usually have around 20 different flavors of ice cream, along with sundaes, malts, ice cream pies, cookies, bars, and ice cream sandwiches. They also serve coffee. I can recommend the Nicollet Avenue Pothole, Raspberry Chocolate Chip, and Pavarotti.
Charlie Fajita
Best ice cream in the country! I love to go here for delicious ice cream and awesome coffee. Pavvoratti is the best flavor of ice cream and chiapaneco coffee is the best coffee. Also the niccolet mall pothole flavor is worth trying. The aesthetic is good and there are board games you can use there while licking on delicious ice cream. All products are well worth the price if not a bargain.
Andrew Sutherland
I had this once when passing through Minneapolis--I saw it on Yelp, and it sounded great. Man, were the reviews right! Everything I sampled was great, but I ultimately settled on the Oreo ice cream. It was the best cookies and cream/oreo ice cream I have ever had.
Yvette Dizon-Gist
Cute ice cream shop. Everything tasted very good! We ordered a root beer float with mpls style vanilla (vanilla, vanilla bean, and vanilla extract) and two cones. One cone had mpls style vanilla and the other had Oreos and raspberry chocolate. Worth a visit.
Snow Farmer
New to MN, and so far this is my favorite ice cream parlor.
Flavors rotate and prices are weather dependent during the weather. My only negative thought towards this parlor is their waffle cones - they're not made fresh and the two I've had have both been stale. I recommend going with cups over cones.
Greg Anderson
Simply the BEST Ice Cream in the Twin Cities! - I'm pretty sure I have eaten enough ice cream for my opinion to be "statistically relevant" ;-)
Anders Mayland
The Sebastian Joe's of my childhood was a special place that (in my youthful imagination) served nothing but ice cream. In adulthood, I've discovered that this place serves cheap, delicious coffees and pastries - and is mercifully uncrowded on weekend mornings. A great place to get your caffeine kick and enjoy some pleasant conversation or remote work.
Mark Olmsted
Sebastian Joe's offers quality ice cream, coffee, and sweets...Where else do you want to go on a date or treat your sweetheart! Never let the long line fool you, I've seen the line all the way to the back and the wait only take 10 minutes so be patient it's going to be worth it!
Mawrgyn Roper
Get a raspberry chip cookie sandwich. You won't regret it. Pavaratti is also a classic.
Austin Fortner
The ice cream is my favorite in the cities… maybe favorite ever. I’ve also become a big fan of their beans for my espresso machine.
Madeleine Matt
Pros: Staff are friendly, they give samples, it's open late in all kinds of weather & all week long, has some innovative flavors, delicious hot fudge. Cons: can only do one flavor in a small, their mint chip is more of a spearmint - so like a scoop of chewing gum 🤔 …
Karen Arntzen
They remodeled so the place on Hennepin is not as cozy and inviting as it used to be.
It seemed to me that the ice cream was different than in years past; not bad, just different. More custardy. I had the Mpls vanilla w/ hot fudge and didn't care for the texture. My companion thought the same of the chocolate.
The service is good and efficient. At busy times, expect a long line that might seem discouraging but in actuality, moves along quite quickly.
Kelli Thiel
So many good flavors beyond the typical. Nicollet Ave Pothole is probably my favorite, but their take on Oreo is so much better than normal Oreo icecream.
Rich Hill
I liked the Ice Cream but it upset my stomach. I have Celiacs so I am wonder if there was cross contamatoin with wheat/barley/rye products.
Amanda Cox
Have had a love affair with this place for as long as I can remember! Oreo, Apple Crisp and The Flavor Formally Known as Nicollet Ave Pothole are a few of my favorites at this Minneapolis gem!!
Natasha Bruns
Sebastian Joe's is always delightful. Classic and some not so classic flavors. Salted Caramel and Nicollet Ave Pothole are great flavors, the Ridiculous Sundae is the perfect size to split for two people. Friendly and fast service!
Joshlyn Olsen
Only the most classic, delicious ice cream in the city. Nicollet Pothole and Pavarotti combo is the way to go but it’s all fantastic.
Ellie T
Reliably delicious. The raspberry chocolate chip is my favorite. My brother loves the peanut butter, but that is only available every once in a while.
Hayden Wenzel
Now that Izzy’s is closed this is my fave ice cream place in MPLS. Portions are a mite small but amazing flavor and great selection of coffee beverages to boot
Lon Koenig
Local premium ice cream shop. Churn their own ice cream. Good assortment of not-too-out-flavors. Scoops, cones, hand-packed containers. Indoor and outdoor seating.
Dan Pepin
Beloved shop with flavors for everyone. Lemon sorbet clearly made with real zest.
helemina latu
It’s Sebastians, I have to give it 5stars. Street parking is touch and go. But if you’re savvy, you’ll figure it out. Best to walk up though... there is a line during busy hours. Which I feel in the summer it’s pretty constant- but the employees are pretty on top of it and aren’t afraid to offer you a free sample if you’re stuck between a Nicolette pothole or the Pavarotti when others behind you are shuffling their feet. It’s a great ice cream spot, meet up with friends or go on a date after walking around the Lake of the Isles. Price range isn’t so bad and besides getting your savory treat in a cone, there is a cup and other dessert options ie: Sundays, dipped cone etc. There is a comfy interior sitting area and if you’re lucky you can snag the couch seat.
Michelle Jackson
Love their vegan flavors and that they always have more then 2 varieties. So far all the ones we've tried have been amazing!
A Slucas
I love this place. My friends and I usually go there for a delicious , fresh and refreshing sorbet or ice cream
So good. Try it when you come to the area.
And also you can buy trade organic coffee
My favorite from Chiapas organic fair trade coffe.👌
Ryan Fuller
In the twin cities area?? You got to try icecream here. We drove more than 20 miles and it was worth every ounce of fuel burnt and traffic Expirenced. This is ice cream old school where it is thick and brilliantly flavored. We were recommended by the hotel concierge. He was spot on. Any time here in that I am in the MSP area I plan on hitting Sebastian Joe's. It's a quaint place that you would never guess had that kind of amazing icecream. Trust me if you really like the creamy stuff, you will love this creamery. Indoor seating and for summer it also has outdoor. We were there on a perfect summer night. Good friends and fun! Recommended.
Jim Hansen
ALWAYS FABULOUS! My go to shop. The best smooth, creamy, flavor packed ice cream and sherbet. Real ingredients. My favorites are Pot hole, Poverati, and grapefruit sherbet. Bakery goods are really tasty including GF items. The change in the homemade waffle cone wasnt a positive. Maybe just an off batch. Flavor and texture; smooth no "waffling".
tim seldal
Great ice cream with a fun atmosphere. Good selection of yummy flavors. Nice outdoor tables. Friendly staff. Well organized.
Seth Lamarque
I try to hit Sebastion Joe's whenever I am in the uptown area. I always get the coffee ice creams because I am a coffee fanatic. Such a large selection that no one in the area really compares. The quality of the ice cream is phenomenal and there are very little competitors. Just wish it wasn't located where it was! Can be extremely busy during certain times of the day.
Salem Mahmoud
Found this place wandering around Uptown one beautiful evening with a line out the door. Knowing that had to be a good sign, we walked in.
Not only are their flavors original and incredible, but their service is exemplary. When we told the gentleman working behind the counter that we had never been there, his eyes lit up. He was so excited to help us, give us flavors to try, and give us suggestions. It was great to see someone who WANTED to help someone. That's not something you see very often in the service industry any longer.
I will be going back many, many times.
Kastina Morrison
I've lived in Uptown, just 2 blocks from Sebastian Joe's. I've never had a bad experience - not once and I go there almost every other Sunday in the summer with friends. Even though the line is long - it never takes much time to get through and it's always 100% worth it. It's a great summer evening walk around the cute little neighborhood too. One of my favorite spots in our lovely city.
Tim Hall
This is the best ice cream in the twin cities bar none. Raspberry chocolate chip is my favorite try others but keep coming back for this
Holly Branshaw
This ice cream is one of the best of the Twin Cities (in my opinion) all of the everyday flavors are everyday for a reason. Love this shop!
Anna Collins
Some of the best ice cream in town. Unfortunately the staffing has been poor every time I have visited. Either not enough people working or the teenagers that are working are not given proper guidance and lack efficiency. Always at least one or two standing around even when the line is out the door.
Fazel Zare Bidoky
If you like ice cream, you will like here. However, it is not the ice cream taking me there every weekend but does the waffle. Waffles are the best ones you can find in the cities.
Carl Nathan
The ice cream they have is really good! I have enjoyed all the flavors they make. The homemade waffle cones are good but the dipped are the best!
Clinton Lee
Delicious rich ice cream, plenty of seating (at least there is on Thursday evenings in March). Chocolate dipped sugar cones are a nice decadent option.
James B
Second best ice cream place in Minneapolis. The best is seasonal though and this is year round
Taylor Annabeth
Some of the best local ice cream! I always bring out of town friends and family here to try and they love it.
Liz Crandall
Raspberry chocolate chip!
The original Twin Cities best ice cream parlor. I will always go here over some of the many newer and corporate chains.
Anil Maddimsetti
Really loved the ice cream here, looks like a family owned business. Very nice people and not to mention amazing scoops. I would suggest the dipped cones.
Try finding some place to park your car off street near by.
sanjith abraham
Nice place for ice creams , malts, floats, coffee .
Pros : spacious , well staffed , lots of variety , cost effective , fresh , flavourful, tasty , interesting outdoor seating .
Cons: parking problem , quantity was less as compared to Izzy's .
Alex Sneed Miller
Really good ice cream. A bit expensive, but they give you a decent amount per scoop. The line moved very quickly. Even though it was long we were in and out within 10 minutes.
Sadegh Asefi
The best ice cream I have ever had!
Must haves:
Nicolette Pothole
Ice cream Sandwich
PS I think the secret ingredient in the ice cream sandwiches is unicorn horn. Only something so rare can make it so good.
Kim Nelson
Such delicious ice cream, definitely the start of the busy season. A bit hard to justify the price for a family of six but great on a date night!
A4NQT
Always too expensive but tasty all the same. 😋 …
Salina
They people who work here are so nice and remember the people that come in often and they have THE YUMMIEST Coffee!! I didn’t know they had coffee for like a month and when I finally figured it out I literally had/have to go everyday on my way to work! Love this place!
Melissa Vogel
Awesome ice cream! I tried the peach and I highly recommend!
Costas Stavrou
Yummy and very creamy ice cream. Lots of flavors to choose from but a bit pricey.
Bill Ullmann
I live in the Chicago suburbs but come to Minneapolis at least once a year to visit my family. SebastionJoe's is a mandatory stop every time. It is the best ice cream there is. Period and I've had ice cream in pretty much every major US city.
Annette Erickson
The best ice cream in my view.
Be prepared to wait if it's a nice day. But it is worth the wait. They work fast and friendly. Very little seating inside and out.
Sierra Stewart
Such great flavors to choose from. There is also good tea (Black Mango is my favorite), coffee, and pastries. Some of the pastries are gluten free, the chai GF muffin is my favorite.
Faisal Masood
Their ice cream quantity is ok compared to price. They have some good flavors. Raspberry and Mangoo are unique to their list.
Jeremiah Fredrick
Love going always great service and better ice cream. Would suggest everyone check it out at least once.
Anne Woodall
Nice place for a Sundae, or just a scoop of high quality ice cream. I'm a purist, Minneapolis vanilla hit the spot. Fancier flavors available too.
Kelly Sarenpa
Full freezer of vegan selections. Wish the vegan Oreo was also gluten free oh well this place is still A+,. EXCELLENT SERVICE
Klay Adair
Great flavors, very reasonable price, and cool store.
Ethan Jacob
A real treat and one of the best ice cream shops in MN. Highly recommend!
Jessica Murphy
Delicious every time we go!
John Smith
Some of the world's best ice cream. Great variety of flavors, classic, contemporary (amaretto brandy) , and even funky (strawberry basil sorbet).
Kj Fox
Always amazing ice cream! Highly recommend anything in the store, but you can sample ice cream flavors if you're still unsure.
Maddy B
My favorite ice cream in the Twin Cities! If you are a chocolate lover, get the Nicollet Avenue Pothole flavor, you won’t regret it!
Scott Perrault
So delicious, been here a few times and it's always good!
The Chris Lapakko - The King of Earned Media
Unlike Glam Doll Donuts, these people don't run out of vegan options. I've tried to go to Glam Doll twice to get donuts and they've been out of vegan donuts. Sebastian Joe's has a steady supply of vegan sweets. Glam Doll? More like Scam Ya'll. Zinger!
Andrew Iskandar
Love the ice cream here and the novelty of getting an discount in cold weather is pretty neat. I always bring visitors to the Twin Cities here and the love the unique ice cream flavors!
Patrice Candice
I love this place! The ice cream is second to none, handcrafted sandwiches and they even made a pizza that they can bake for you in just a few minutes.
Heather Friedli
It was good ice cream! Although, I felt the Green Tea Ice Cream could have used more green tea flavor. Otherwise, hit the spot on a hot day!
c j smeby
Great selection of ice creams, lots of staff members that made getting some yummy ice cream , fast and easy!!
Highly recommend!!
Andrew Brown
Absolutely delicious! I need to return again sooner than later!
Aditya Karandikar
A place where dreams are born and unicorns exist. As the unholy offspring of ice and cream, Sebastian Joe's is not so much of an ice cream parlor as it is a cult. This ice cream might actually increase lifespans through its impact on emotional well-being, which is far more significant than any physical detriments associated with its consumption. When you find yourself in the Twin Cities wondering what to have for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or dessert, there's only one option: Sebastian Joe's.
Glen Stevens
Bomb digity. They have some good ice cream here, with lots of original and of course traditional flavors. The staff is pretty buff from scooping Ice Cream.
Jordan Carrell
Great selection of rotating ice cream flavors made onsite by this family owned business. Can get quite a line in the evenings but it moves fast.
Corrinenycole Michels
Atmosphere, everyone gladly wearing masks. Not one person looking at their phone just enjoying their surroundings.
I got nicollet pothole mixed with salted caramel. #yummy
Bobby Kunkle
This is the place to come in Minneapolis for dairy-free ice cream! Get a milkshake with oat milk. Incredible!
Warren Watson
Is there any finer Minnesota only icon than Sabastian Joe's? Just came back from San Francisco, and Giradelli chocolate...it has nothing on our home town favorite...while there you have to try the ice cream formerly known as Nicollette Pot Hole...scrumdiliumpsious...
Cassie Cavegn
Excellent ice cream with great selection. However, it is a little pricey and there is always an enormous line that does not move very quickly.
Autumn Phillips
The best ice cream in the sitter hands down. I recommend the Nicolette pot hole.
Brett Hebert
I'm a Team Izzy's guy through and through, but Sebastian Joe's holds its own. Be prepared for a wait, I've never been here and not stood in line for ~10-15 minutes. The flavor names are quirky (painfully so at times), but the end results are solid. If you're in Uptown and Izzy's seems like too much of a hike, this is a good alternative.
Jessica Poindexter
Bro.... the line. That's the only bad part. Good selection of quality ice cream. Local favorite and been around for years!
Kate Fernandez
I paid 10 dollars for a milkshake that was the same consistency as milk. Very disappointing. Uses paper straws though which is more environmentally friendly.
Peter Baker
New remodel looks fantastic, the staff were quick. Sebastian Joe's Ice Cream is the best ice cream company in the Twin Cities hands down.
Nili Waypa
Unique flavors of ice cream. Servers were new (and weren’t trained well). Ample seating. Ice cream is better than average but not the best.
Very Moon
Line out the door at 9:45 at night. If you love ice cream, this is the place you'll certainly need on your list. Very creamy, very rich iced cream.
Jillian Steinke
They could use some new flavors but the old staples are good. The ice cream sandwiches are my favorite. Like the new remodel.

At some ice cream shops, the sample you're given is tiny. Not at Sebastian Joe's. I was given three tablespoons of samples before I chose my flavor. Huge shoutout to the late night crew!
