Reviews of Grand Ole Creamery & Grand Pizzeria
Jessica Husted
Lots of flavors to choose from. Warm waffle cones. Pizza place connected to ice cream shop. I had the small hot fudge brownie and it was insanely huge. Was not expecting that. My son had cookies and cream, basic cookies and cream.
Alicia Renée
Tried the pizzaria for the first time, and it was excellent. We had the "Welcome to the Jungle" pizza. Super tasty, reasonably priced, nice staff, clean dining area, and cool retro arcade cabinets.
The ice cream (especially the homemade waffle cones) has been wonderful for as long as I can remember!
Trevor Johnson
Mac daddy flavor — butter pecan with Oreo — is so good. Probably the best flavor I’ve had. I recommend going here in the off hour, for example right around 5pm, because you’ll be able to get right in without waiting. However there is always room to find a place to sit outside nearby and eat your ice cream on a nice summer night as well. Parking is on the street as most places in the neighborhood but usually not too difficult.

Ice cream portions are huge even for a single scoop! Their homemade waffle cone is big as well and compliments the ice cream. If you like coffee then I would definitely suggest the coffee break!
Greg Doornink
Top ice cream in the biz. A classic St. Paul staple. Must stop. Cookie Monster is my go to. Careful on the size here it’s awesome. I normally get the one scoop and a cone. But one scoop is really like two scoops. You’re gonna be plump full with a freezer burn upstairs from eating it too fast.
Rebecca Rosenfeld
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this place. Every time they hook it up with the salads and pizza! This 5.00 salad is enough to feed 5 people!!!! What impresses me the most is their customer service. Top notch EVERY SINGLE TIME!!!
NaomiRuth Sims
Very friendly staff and wonderful food. The Pizza slices are HUGE! Their ice cream is great too! I definitely would suggest this to anyone visiting Saint Minnesota in or out of state.

Nice little shop to bring the family for special treat or just because. Staff is always friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The ice cream is delicious and there's so many flavor options to choose from. This here is a split single scoop in a waffle cone, and it's pretty massive! Great price range and awesome portions. My littles like to sit on the pizza side for the pinball games 😁

the cheese bread is to die for. my serious favorite. Italian fries are also bomb! I loved the roasted tomatoe and artichoke pizza. wasn't as pleased with the Buffalo chicken pizza, wouldn't order it again.
quality is up and down based on who's working TBH. sometimes its perfect other times it under/over baked.
hoagies and ice cream also chefs kisses.
my biggest complaint is they used to only use bite squad for delivery which is UNGODLY EXPENSIVE! looks like they now have other options now tho
Rashad Ahmed
One of the best ice cream joints in St. Paul. Make sure to try the German chocolate or banana melt. The mac daddy is also a great one. This place always satisfies my ice cream cravings. Great outdoor seating for warm summer nights. Staff are friendly and welcoming.
Matthew Porter
They always make the best pizza to order 😋 and my wife and I love ❤️ eating it. The staff are kind and friendly allowing me to look over the menu for the next time.
Ice cream is GREAT and we buy it by the quart. Enjoy yourself and come to the Creamery and also have fun and enjoy a pizza.
Chris Shorter
An excellent local ice cream shop and pizza place. The pizza is an excellent value and is fresh-made. The gluten-free crust was excellent, way better than other GF options we have had at other pizza places. Make sure you grab a freshly made waffle cone to-go!
Sasha Bariffe
I was happy to find sorbet here (dairy allergy) and my children loved the ice cream with cones.
The staff was patient & offered samples while I talked my children through flavors.
We'll definitely be back! 🍨🍦
Steven Brooke
The guy at the counter has a great attitude about life I appreciate his enthusiasm even tho he's making only pizza he's also making people smile on top of that... Which is not all to common nowadays!! So if you are the manager give that man a raise or at least praise him for being such an amazing human ,!! At the pizza counter that is !!!
Savannah Leasman
I've loved this place since I was a child, and their ice cream is still amazing! I tried the taro ice cream on a whim, and it ranks up there among my favorite ice creams now. Highly recommend this place!
Carrie Dobihal
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! We came here for our daughter's 6th birthday, and the pizzaria and creamery staff made this a great time! They reserved the pizzaria for us, were friendly, and gave my daughter a wonderful experience! They suprised her with ice cream, and sang happy birthday, the pizza and ice cream were delicious, and the price and quality of the food was awesome! We couldn't have chosen a better place to celebrate!
Michael Walsh
I wouldn't hamstring a local business with less than 5 stars, but I'm curious who is in charge of making money here? I tried ordering 4 different sandwiches off the menu and they couldn't make any of them. I gave up and said, "can I have a sandwich with whatever you have?" - which was a turkey sandwich. My kids wanted to play the arcade games, and they didn't have any quarters for change! Do better. I know you can.
Robert DeBuhr
Pizza, Salad, Hoagie, Gyro and more! Top It Off With Some Delicious Ice Cream In A Waffle Cone! I Recommend Two Scoops, One Is Just Not Enough For Me! One Scoop Is Actually A Lot!!
Emily Stone LandOf10KEats
Seriously some of the best ice cream I’ve ever had!! I got the birthday cake one, and it didn’t taste fake like most bday cake ice creams do! It had pieces of cake, not chunks but like mixed in with the ice cream, and sprinkles. Wow so good. My boyfriend got the Cookie Monster, and it was basically cookie dough, and cookie pieces in a very blue ice cream. He also had the strawberry cheesecake one, and that one was SO good! The line was a little long, but it didn’t take more than 10 minutes to get through. It was easy to order, but as I got down the line I was mad I couldn’t see all the flavors. I made a quick decision because I didn’t wanna be slow. So next time I’ll look at them all first and then order. But I wanted to try the coconut chip one next time. But they all look SO good! HIGHLY recommend coming here! Preferable with a date, right before they close, in the summer, and find a cute bench to sit on. It makes for the best night ever. No it made for the most perfect night. Trust me
ICE CREAM 10/10
SERVICE 9/10
MENU 9/10 (so many choices)
ATMOSPHERE 5/10 (a little crowded and scrunched feeling)
PARKING 6/10

These guys have the best ice cream in St. Paul. The scoops are MASSIVE and the staff is friendly. Definitely recommend this shop to anyone new in town 🤤 😋 …
Kelly Rademacher
Great ice cream in general, I also like that it’s connected to a pizza place with pizza just as good as the ice cream.
C Tang
Just wow. It is always a treat to come here. They have lots of great flavors to choose from and sample. If you are hungry, head next door to the pizza offering. It's all connected, so you don't have to literally ho outside. A great place to come to on a warm Spring or Summer day.
Jason Dai
Whenever I am in the city, this place is where I always go for my ice cream 🍦 Their birthday cake ice cream will never disappoint me 💕 …
Solana Archuleta
Wonderful waffle cones and great ice cream texture and flavor!!!! Price is crazy high but you get a ton of ice cream.
Patrick Torralba
The ice cream is delicious and particularly creamy. They have a wide range of flavors about 20 many options such as milkshakes, and sizes. My personal favorite is taro because it is very smooth and has this unique sweet and tarty flavor to it. The photo below is a kids one scoop, taro, waffle cone, which is very fulfilling for 1 person.
The service is very friendly and hard-working! You will never catch any employee slacking on the job. The atmosphere of the restaurant is family friendly and clean for the most part. Noticeably when you walk into the building there is a strong scent of waffle cones and sugar which makes the icecream even more appetizing. This is definitely a good place to stop by in the summer with friends and family.
Grand Ole Creamery may become packed at night especially on weekends so plan accordingly. At night, the lines can get very long and may extend outside; the wait times during these moments can vary from 5-20 minutes.
Fun fact: Obama visited Grand Ole Creamery in the Summer of 2014!
Jenne Holmes
Enjoyed my icecream today. Just had a single in a dish (because I am messy and I know it) raspberry and chocolate. Yummmm! Good icecream and quick service my kinda icecream.
Ruth Conoryea
First time to the Grand Ole Creamery. I was looking for a ice-cream cake for my husband....;and they did not have anything on hand at the time. (If you order in advance, they would!). The staff went OUT of THEIR WAY to prepare a sundae supreme that was just as good if not better!! My husband (and I) both enjoyed immensely! The customer service with kindness and care was so refreshing! Thank you so much! Will definitely go back and recommend everyone go to the Grand Ole Creamery on Grand Ave in St Paul, MN!!
Connor
I have never had better ice cream and pizza. The food was delicious and the workers were nice and it flet like you were in like the 60's or 70's and you went into a ice cream parlor. It's good but it's really hard to get a spot in there and a parking spot, but it its well worth the trouble.
Nanette Abebrese
Best root beer float ever made with your choice of ice cream. Loved the coffee break flavor! Also gluten and nut free ice creams
Dustin Kwee
Arguably my favorite ice cream place ever. Try the taro or apple pie flavor with a waffle cone! This place serves ice cream very generously, unlike those new "hipster", boutiques that over charge customers. Grand Ole creamery has a very familial feel with amazing ice cream to boot. Highly recommended.
Jill Diers
The ice cream was such a treat! We will definitely return.
Rebekah Doyle
Best ice cream in the cities. Good portions, lots of options, and top quality premium scooped ice cream. Waffle cones are made right in front of customers. Free samples and my favorite is the five-flavor sampler for the adventurous and indecisive.
Jimmie Johnson
My girlfriend and I enjoyed are experience, it was are first time at your place. The staff was GREAT! I have the peanut allergy and the young man who help us made sure to get my ice cream from the back, and he even brought it to me. We will be back for more of you creaming goodness.
Becca Freeman
First time visiting was for National Ice Cream Day today and their special was buy two pints, get the third free. I ended up getting the Taro and Pistachio flavor as a split single scoop. It was more than enough ice cream! But both flavors were very delicious without being overpowering. The service was great and the lines moved fairly quickly. 100% would return.
Mike Otten
One of the best ice cream places in the twin cities. Great pizza next store at Grand Pizza as well. Tons of great flavors and always a fun place to meet new people and enjoy.
Ana Rosa
Full disclosure, I have not yet eaten here, however I did call to ask a few questions and on the other end of the receiver was the most helpful, kind, accommodating young man named carell!! He was so incredibly patient and got me the answers I was looking for and the overall experience was so positive! Thanks for your help!
Tarah Bryan
The ice cream was very good and so was the pizza we loved that they were attached to each other super convenient for a lunch date!
Chris Cope
Imagine being someone who doesn't love Grand Ole Creamery. I feel sad for that person, for the emptiness and meaninglessness of their life. For the rest of us, there is this place and the joy of delicious ice cream and homemade waffle cones.
Tanya Batalska
I love it. I used to live in the Twin Cities for 5 years and now when I come back, this is one of the places I try to visit. Together with MMAM (museum in Winona).
Tahsha LePage
I’ve always given Grand Ole Creamery a 5, but I was a bit disturbed by my visit on Sunday—not by the ice cream and they still carry the torch for best waffle cone I’ve ever had, but by this poster for cereal ice cream and here is why:
First, I really hope I am wrong and they are someone partnering with Treats in this venture. I visited Treats on Saturday to check out this new “cereal bar and Boba tea” concept. It’s a niche market for sure. The menu is small, you won’t find traditional ice cream there. That is why on Sunday we went to Grand Ole Creamery instead. I thought it was great that the option for both was right there. The cereal theme might not be for everyone, but Grand ole is. Cereal ice cream just seems like a knock off attempt. I’ve also driven by in the summer and kept going due to the insanely long line and limited space. I even mentioned while at Treats on Saturday that if you weren’t feeling the cereal thing there is an awesome regular ice cream shop right there. Then to walk in to Grand Ole on Sunday and see this poster advertising cereal ice cream—it just put me off. It seems like bad form. I felt a little sad that they thought they needed to do this.
I still love them, but it was hard to really enjoy my ice cream because I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I really still hope it is some kind of partnership, friendly neighbor relationship and not a copy-cat attempt.
Carley K
My favorite ice cream place in the area. It is a bit pricy, but worth it for the homemade ice cream and waffle cones, overall selection, and portion sizes.
Ian The Rush
What a delightful place! You can eat a delicious calzone and excellent ice cream in the same building. The service could use a little sparkle. (not rude, just kinda bland for such a charming place.) With that, I could see this on the list of top 10 places to stop in St Paul.
Jessica Aquino
My daughter had pizza and we both had ice cream. It was very nice to sit outside and enjoy the good ice cream. Pizza as ok.
Him MrGiles
People & place were nice, ice cream was great didn't get pizza parking sucks sorry spendy
Ashford Kroll
Always such friendly staff, great service and ice cream!! Every time I go into Grand Ole Creamery, I feel like I am stepping back into time when kids can run around carefree, and everyone feels connected to their neighbors! As a resident of the area for 10+ years, I can say they are a genuine staple and a must-see place...
Alex Rudie
A fabulous place to stop by for a meal or a treat! Whether you're visiting or a local this is a fabulous place for ice cream. Lots of fun flavors like chocolate fudge brownie, smores, cookie monster, coffee break, and tons more! Lovely staff with generous portions. The pizza slices are HUGE and fresh.
E Becker
Great tasting, lots of fun flavors to try. If you're having trouble choosing, for $10 you can get a bowl with 5 small scoops of 5 different flavors! Several sorbets too.
Janet de Lara
Fun service at the ice cream shop tonight. I appreciate people who chat with you about their product and life. Mexican Praline Chocolate is amazing there. Highly recommend this place.
Alma Tapia
The hot waffle with ice cream is really good! Every waffle is made fresh and 4 toppings are included with your order!
Definitely worth the wait!
Estelle
I had some amazing cheesy bread and cookie monster ice cream. Ill be returning soon :)
Tootie Tootie
Great staff
Nice location
Only thing missing was the french fries
5 stars August 2021
Shannon Xiong
Cute ice cream shop! The scoops were larger than I expected, even with a split scoop. Staff were helpful.
Danielle Jenkins
Whenever I'm in the area I always stop for the ice cream. Its absolutely delicious. They make sure the pint is full eveytime.
Steven Livingstone
Delicious ice cream! Their waffle cones are delicious. Our favorite was the cookie monster flavor.
katie bv
Delicious Ice-cream shop. Once you enter, the amazing aroma of freshly made waffle cones takes you to Neverland. Occasionally there is a line but it’s so worth the wait. A must for ice-screamers..lol :)
Coffee break and Pistachio.
Amanda Meyer
Fun atmosphere. This place is well-known, but it's my first visit. Great food at good prices. I was served by the owner himself and he was cheerful and helpful. Delightful experience.
Crafty Momma
Delicious ice cream and the most generous double scoop I have ever had.
Samantha Farah
I loved everything about this ice cream shop! It was cute and small. It has a lot of different flavors and they do let you sample. I ordered a vanilla malt and it was sooo good. I always order vanilla malts everywhere I go so trust me when I say it was one of the best. The girl who made my malt had tiny shorts on with her but cheeks hanging out which I thought was pretty inappropriate especially since it's cold out now but that was my only complaint.
Joe Amico
My favorite ice cream in the twin cities. Moved away in 1999 but always return for ice cream here when back in town.
Ricardo Martinez
Definitely one of the best places to get ice cream in the city! Something I recently discovered was the 5 scoop sampler which would totally recommend! It's still way too much ice cream for average person but now you can pick 5 flavors! I shared this with my girlfriend having each of us pick 2 flavors and then the last one what the person working recommended. Honestly all the flavors we got were great!
Bruce Heilbrun
Awesome! I'm a visitor to SP, MN and found it easily. 15 people in line down the service, and the staff was scooping away. Short wait, when you consider the prize for waiting. Let's just say, "quality is remembered long after price is forgotten"! Outstanding! I'd be a regular if I lived in downtown St. Paul!
Anthony
Classic! Ice cream sandwiches are the best here. Pizza next door is a great deal. Not the best pizza I have had but for the price its worth it. This is a must do for Minnesota trip
Jeff Burger
Ice cream was great. A line to the door. (Small space) I was hungry to satisfy my sweet tooth and family in front of us was taking their time... :) The staff was nice to work with. Seating on the sidewalk. The 5 scoop dish is more than one person needs!! (Share it?)
Sara Wicht
Have loved the Grand Ole Creamery for 30+ years! Will always recommend to anyone and everyone!
Micky Roeschlein
I have been working nearby and going to lunch at the grand old creamery, The portions are large and the prices are low, and the staff is super friendly. I always had known that their ice cream was superb but little did I know that their food was fabulous also.
Kay D.
Service was fast, food was good, employees were very nice. You have the option of trying between 1-5 flavors in your dish. I recommend the waffle cone, it tastes like vanilla
Vishal Trivedi
Great place to have ice cream. Good choices of flavors to choose from. They also have a small arcade area which is a bonus.
Alicia Nemitz
The portion sizes and the prices are phenomenal. I ordered the Italian fries, which they have labeled as a side, it was about the size of a large pizza and so good! My boyfriend got the calzone which was about the size of a dinner plate. I couldn't even finish the ice cream we got after lunch. Definitely worth it, would come back any day I have a craving for some good pizza
Matthew Stoneking-Ovitt
Delicious food and the calzone was HUGE! Basically a medium pizza folded in half. Was hoping for something smaller, but I guess I’ll have to enjoy the rest for lunch tomorrow (twist my arm why don’t you)
Caleb M Fabry
Excellent!!! We had very good ice cream, the hot fresh waffle was amazing!
Amber H
Tons of ice cream flavors! I am gluten free and greatly appreciated all of the GF flavors being labeled & that the girl went right to the back to scoop fresh ice cream for me when I told her I was GF. Awesome service!
Ted Gautsch
Located on amongst the classic grand avenue neighborhood, this little shop located next to the Indian house has the best ice cream in all of Saint Paul.
Of course during the summer months you can expect to wait in line, they do have a small dine in area and some tables along the sidewalk. The wait is worth it once you taste one of the many flavors of this home made ice cream. They do offer pizza as well, but they are known for their ice cream obviously.
This is a nice stop for those looking to get acquainted with the historical district of Saint Paul.
Sam Van Cook
Adorable. Great staff. Good pizza and ice cream.
Bobby Kathuria
Best ice cream around. Half an hour one way drive late night well worth it.
Ryejin13
So many different flavors and they make the waffle cones there! Delicious ice cream with a ton of different flavors to try out. Can mix your scoops too if you are undecided.
Rebecca “Becca” Rose
All I can say is wow! Huge serving sizes. Delicious ice cream! Very good!
Dionne Gharamu-Nrumaachi
This is one of the most popular ice cream shops in Saint Paul. The location is awesome. The flavors are plentiful and rich. There is a pizzeria next door so it might be convenient for you to have a meal next door then dessert at Grand Ole Creamery.
Mr. English
Great homemade waffle cones and lots of different specialty flavors. Seems they have a catering bar too.
Katherine Walton
Always great ice cream here! The service is always fantastic as well!
Andy Burch
Absolutely love this place best place to get ice cream in St Paul
Sydney Long
The lines are long in the warmer weather for a reason. The ice cream is phenomenal. the waffle cone is for sure worth the wait!
Buzz Taggart
Super delicious....but $7 for a waffle cone
Halsey Hall Lindquist
Took my kids for pizza and ice cream on a Friday night. Called a pizza order in as I was driving to the store. The pizza was ready when we got there. We sat and ate pizza and played pinball all evening. It was awesome. 2 year old sat in a high chair providedby the restaurant. The 7 and 10 year olds choose their own soda.
Topped off with ice cream for dessert.
Try the Cookie Monster!
It's so good.
Pizza was delicious.
Staff is so friendly. Always nice. They offer free tastes so USE THEM!
Lisa Needels
Love the ice cream of course but their salads are great too.
Amber Lee
If you're looking for good pizza and the BEST ice cream, look no further. This St. Paul staple has been in business over 35 years for a reason!
John Incha
Great place to get ice cream! Large selection of flavors and the staff is very friendly. The atmosphere is great too!
Leo Rosenhagen
Got there four minutes before closing. Staff was super motivated still and helped us right away. A really positive experience and likely a new favorite!
Nathan Anton
Really good neighborhood ice cream shop. I'm from across town and haven't ever been here before. It's delicious. A bit on the pricy side, but you get a lot, even for the smaller sizes. I saw my mother's single scoop and changed my order to a kids, and it was more than enough.
Robert Livingstone
Great customer service, food was awesome, ice cream
Geoff Kivel
Always a great place to go, when you are in St. Paul. Banana Split is the absolute best. Pick your ice cream and your toppings, delicious!!!!!
j smith
Best ice cream in the twin cities. Period. You are able to sample all the flavors and they have a variety of options such as cone, cup, and waffle. The flavor is very rich, definitely less is more when ordering. A great place to visit in the summer and spring. You can sit outside and enjoy the neighborhood while having great ice cream. My favorite flavor is Cooke Monster. I won’t give the flavor away but it’s worth the trip to St. Paul for.
Jim McTie
Ice cream was excellent; however pizza was mediocre. Too much cheese which overwhelmed the sauce, and toppings (pepperoni & sausage in particular) were not very flavorful. Crust was good and crispy (but probably overdone for some).
Christopher Zahn
This place has high quality ice cream (and pizza), however it's packed! Prepare to wait in line.
Wendell Geary
Cherry rum with chocomalt ball on top. Silky smooth and thickly creamy. Child's portion was as generous as the midwestern prairie loam that built this St Paul tradition.
James Rhodes
The best calzone I've ever had from anywhere...so delicious. Perfect
Gabrielle Durr
The best waffle cones and some seriously high quality ice cream and flavors. My favorite place in the cities!
Amber Bouret
Update -
Amazing ice cream as always! Highly recommended.
Worst pizza I've ever eaten. Tough to chew, parts were burnt, and some was still doughy.
SheerLuck
Family friendly environment.. plenty of good ice cream options. The prices were good too
Lynda Kane
Great pizza and ice cream as we explored the area.
Bloobie Doobie
Do you like delicious icecream? This place sells so many different kinds of icecream and I've only tried two because I'm scared each new one I try will become yet another favorite. Highly recommend for a cute date, a family get-together, or if you just want icecream.
Adam Wilson
Been here a few times. Fast service, plenty of flavor selection, and wonderful taste, and large portion size. The whole place smells like freshly made waffle cones which is enough to get your mouth watering while waiting in line.
Sarah Jackson
I ordered the chocolate malt banana scoop in a waffle cone. Unfortunately, the banana tasted artificial and overpowered the entire flavor so I couldn't even taste much chocolate either. However, I'm boosting my rating for the waffle cone. The waffle cone tasted very fresh and was such a great flavor! Overall made it an OK experience. Would maybe go back again but definitely would try a different flavor.
Jesse Brueshaber
I asked them to make me a malt of Maraschino Cherry's over Vanilla Ice Cream. This is not on the menu but they made it for me anyway. It was very good. 5 stars.
Rajath A G
Great place to have pizza, calzones and icecream. I got to know that Obama visited this place during his presidency. They have great vegetarian options too. I took the "Black Gold Hills" flavour which Obama also liked and it was very good. The prices are reasonable and worth every penny.
Mike Lester
While visiting St Paul we picked this place based on reviews and were certainly not disappointed. There was a line out the door on a rainy Friday night, and it was worth the wait. The scoops are huge! We ordered a two scoops in a dish and were served like a quart of delicious home made ice cream. Would definitely go back if we are ever up this way again.
Heather Buresh
This place is a hidden gem among pizza places in this area. The portions are huge and affordable. The sauce is fresh compared to pizza chains and they do not skimp on the toppings. Plus you can also have ice cream delivered... Doesn't get much better than that!
Drewbe _
The ice cream is amazing, and the decor fits the bill for an old fashioned shoppe.
David Shaw
Yummy 😋. Their ice cream is some of the best. …
Lucia Bintner
Pizzas good, ice creams good, the hand rolled waffle cone wasn't my favorite, but their malts are a game changer.
Daniel Lama
My favorite ice cream shop in the twin cities. They've got a solid selection of flavors. If you're ever feeling down, treat ya self to a double scoop of cookie monster and see if your day doesn't just turn around. Warning this place can get real busy on summer nights, but if you time it right/get lucky you can grab a scoop and go within minutes.
Joe Cowette
Best ice cream I’ve ever had! Specifically the Black Hills Gold! They have a very good selection of different flavors. Definitely the place to stop for ice cream if you are in St. Paul.
Ron D
This is the best ice cream shop in Minnesota. Don't miss it! My only complaint is I can't get past ordering cookie dough flavor. It's too good!
Robert Ellis
Ice Cream is tops, product & service. Pizza is fair at best, same with sandwiches.
Andrew B
Love this homemade ice-cream joint. Always great and new flavors. They even have a single split option if you cannot decide. Definitely recommend for either a family outing or date night. Make sure to go early so the line is not ridiculously long but as an ice-cream fanatic it is worth it.
Jessica Heasley
Grand Ole Creamery is a great ice cream shop that delivers dozens of flavors. My favorites include Cookie Monster, S'mores, Superman, and the waffle cones! Delicious ice cream and friendly staff.
Jayson Massa
This place is an institution in St. Paul for good homemade ice cream. It wasn’t until I moved to Minneapolis that I realized there’s many other great options. I went here last week for the first time in years and it wasn’t how I remember it. Still good but there was only 1 fruit option which I think is just crazy for an ice cream shop, especially one with 20 flavors. Anyways, it was good ice cream as always and the smell of waffle cones being made brought me back home.
Doug Johnson
Classic ice cream shop in St Paul. Pretty wide variety of flavors that you can sample to get your choices narrowed down. When you walk in it always smells amazing from the waffle cones being made. A single scoop is pretty generous so it's advisable to share with someone and get two flavors. The ice cream is very creamy and rich so expect that you will be very satisfied after leaving. During the summer there is usually a line so you may have to wait a little bit for your ice cream.
Ann Dolan
This place is an iconic landmark on Grand Avenue, and for good reason. They have oodles of options of all the best ice creams you've ever had. Someone in your family a little lactose intolerant? They even have something for that ~ the most delicious mango sorbet you've ever tried. I absolutely love this place, ice cream, pizza, hoagies and more, and the world's nicest staff and owners. A "must visit" in St. Paul!
Ren Ortega
Holy mackerel this was some of the best ice cream I've ever had. The texture was amazing, almost more like soft serve. Between four people, we were able to try six flavors due to the "split single" option where you can get a single scoop with half one flavor and half another. The filled ice creams like Kit Kat and Black Hills Gold contain a good amount of pieces in them, which was lovely. The fruit flavors tasted like the real thing. When we arrived, the line was just out the door, but by the time we left, it was almost down the block, and now I can see why! I'm amazed that Grand Ole Creamery isn't the number one ice cream parlor in the Twin Cities, because its superior flavors and ice cream texture are the best I've had since I arrived here.
David Ronken (Doc)
The ice cream is great serving sizes are large
Jamie M
This place has some of the best ice cream I have ever had. We make it a point to come here whenever we're less than 20 min away. Yes, there is usually a line, sometimes very long, but it always moves quickly and service is good. They almost have too many kinds of ice cream to choose from but Cookie Monster is my favorite and their waffle cones are delicious. I think it helps that sometimes they are making them right in front of you and the smell is incredible. Considering the location and popularity of the place, we usually luck out and are able to park close by. While the inside can be very crowded, you can usually find a bench, table, or ledge close by to enjoy your ice cream.
JohnClark Jarbi
This is hands down the best ice cream I have ever had in my life. The place is fragrant with their homemade waffle cones (which are also the best cones I’ve ever had in my life). I got the banana creme pie with maple nut, DELICIOUS.
Erik Gawtry
Really good gyros. Homemade waffle cone for the creamery.
Nathan Jelinek
Grand Ole Creamery has some quality ice cream and fun flavors packed into a homemade waffle come (you can watch them do it!) , Cup, or sugar cone, and all taste pretty darn good in my experience. The only thing I don't like is the cost. 7 dollars for ice cream is a lot, and that's just 1 (though generous) scoop. Compare that to Nelson's which is in the same proximity, and you get 3x the ice cream for half of that, so I personally find it hard to justify, but it's quality nonetheless!
Rick Rosas
Pretty neat place. Took my girlfriend out for dinner nearby and decided to have a spur of the moment walk to get ice cream after checking out nearby places for dessert. Came into this place and there was a tons of different ice creams. We each got a cup thinking it would only be a scoop or two. Nope, they pack it in. In the end we were ice creamed out. Will go back and try out the pizza next time.
Samuel Adams
Look, we really liked the experience today but there are some discrepancies.
When I order pizza over the phone, I require the option to order one slice, not a planet sized pizza. Second, who eats ice cream without waffle cone bowls. I got a waffle bowl, my acquaintance did not. I definitely ordered two waffles because as stated above who eats ice cream without waffles.
Besides that, you're aight.
Sammy Sam
Great ice cream. Staff could be cleaner.
At times you see them dropping your food on counters and putting it back on. Wiping them selfs with no gloves.and touching your food 😭
But great ice cream. …
John Foreman
Great ice cream on Grand. Room to eat inside. Homemade waffle cones are delicious. Two great tricks: 1) a child's size cone is as large as most other shops and is typically plenty, 2) order a "split" single scoop where they will give you a half scoop of one flavor and half of another.
the_woozel
I do think it's too expensive for ice cream, but I also think it's amazing.
You can't go wrong with any flavour, but for a true creamery experience, you're going to want to get a shake/malt or the banana split. I've been many times and some day I'll get around to trying their pizza.
Note: I've only taken a star off because they're far too reliant on disposable materials.
Patricia & Jim Harper
Cute place to sit and people watch, enjoy your icecream, maybe even get dinner someplace.
Pria Stauning
Grand Ole Creamery has really great ice cream. Their servings are a little bit larger than most ice cream places. They have places to sit and more places to sit in the pizza place connected to it. They have lots of different flavors and different cone options. The place has great kind staff and each and every cone I have has been great.
Angela Sohyun Park
Their ice cream selections so good! Everything is very tasty and the small shop atmosphere is antique-like. You will need to wait in line because this place is very well known but their ice cream is so good. I usually get lychee or pistachios flavors.
Prime Risk
Simply some of the best ice cream you can find anywhere. Serving sizes are huge, so bring your appetite. Always tons of new and unique flavors to chose from. Commonly very busy in the evenings, so expect a line, but don't worry, it moves quickly and is worth the wait.
Travis Kressin
Excellent old fashioned ice cream and great pizza all in one spot. Just be prepared for a short wait, as even in the depths of the winter there tends to be a line for ice cream stretching out the door.
Troy H
This is such a fun, old-school ice cream shop. The staff are friendly, the atmosphere is nice, and the selection is surprisingly broad. I couldn't believe it but they even had Chai flavored ice cream and it was great!
Evan Hromada
The lime sorbet is the best sorbet that I have ever had.
Mark M.
Best ice cream in the Twin Cities hands down stop by if you're in the St Paul area. The flavor is rich and sweet just how I like it due to the fact that it's homemade and fresh. Plus the staff are very friendly.
A K
Absolutely blown away with the selection of ice cream flavors! Awesome to be able to try a lot! The aroma of waffle cones was amazing walking in to a sort of nostalgic time warp! Loved the experience and the ice cream was some of the best!
Matt O'Keefe
Haven't had a chance to try the pizza yet but it smelled good. We each had 2 scoop waffle cones and loved them. Grand ole creamery is an easy "must hit" on Grand ave if you are in the mood for ice cream!
Bailey Waters
Good selection and delicious ice cream. The waffle cones include a malt ball in the bottom for a nice surprise. I enjoyed the Mac Daddy ice cream!
Wes G.
The Creamery is a great place!! The employees work very hard to keep the line moving, (which is hard because it's so long!), and you can tell the ice cream is a real, homemade product. I was reading some of the signs on the counter, and they use milk and cream from grass fed, we'll treated cows! It's almost too good to be true. Mocha Chip is definitely the best ice cream ever made, it has plenty of coffee flavor, but also plenty of chocolate. A perfect mix! I actually enjoy it more than I enjoy an actual mocha! Fun to see the employees having fun and smiling behind the counter, and fun to see the Obama poster on the wall!
Thank you creamery!!!
Nellie
This place is where my friends and I go whenever we want some really great ice cream. They have what seems like dozens of flavors, and they even have some options for people who do not eat dairy or lactose. In the summer it can be packed, so you can sit outside on the bench and people watch on the always busy Grand Ave. 10/10
Albert Jonathan
They have a lot of different flavors of ice cream. I especially love their Taro and Black Cherry flavors.
They also have a "single split" scoop which you can get two different flavors with reasonable size for only $6.
Fun fact: President Obama visited this ice cream shop during his visit to Twin Cities in 2014.
Jeannine Schirra
Love their ice cream!!! It's so difficult to choose a flavor. I have the option to buy some of the flavors at my grocery store, but it's much better in their homemade waffle cones!!
Rebekah Cedar
Consistently the smoothest ice cream in town and undoubtedly the freshest waffle cones.
Joseph Peo
great food and ice cream. WARNING ordering from a delivery service (Byte Squad, Uber, Doordash, etc) is not recommended. Often substitute without consulting if out of a product. This has happened often to me. The worst being replacing Apple pie with Pumpkin Pie, because hey they are both 'pies' right? pretty crazy substitution. Id stray away from ordering and stop in if you want to have phenomenal offerings.
Steven Coburn
While the wait is always 72 hour's for a ice cream 🎂.....they pulled off a last minute miracle (who doesn't pick up their ice cream 🎂?). Johnny the cake decorator saves the day for my son and his Mother's birthday 🎉.🥰😍🎂😎 …
Joshua Merrick
Ice Cream was ridiculously good! The waffle cone was above and beyond better than any waffle cone I have ever eaten. SOOOOOOO Good!!! Highly recommend.
1 warning: There was no Air Conditioner in the building, or maybe it wasn't working. So it was hotter inside than it was outside. If its a hot day, maybe you can sit outside. There is plenty of seating.
Tanner Samson
"Black Hills Gold" is the best ice cream flavor I've ever had, and the homemade waffles cone makes it that much better.
a s
Love their homemade ice cream! My favorite is the Heath bar crunch, but they have so many flavors it can be hard to choose sometimes! Also, the single scoop in a sugar cone is ginormous! It's more like a 2 1/2 scoops.
Bo Thoeut
The place is amazing! Nothing but that feeling of going back into time once your at this place. Once you walk through the door, the fresh smell of cones being made take over your senses and bring back those memories. The employee are nothing short of stellar! And a FYI, don't forget to sample a few of the flavors to get the taste buds going. *you will need to and want to with so many options ;)* the place is clean and the serving and flavors are always consistent. This is what you look for when you are at a Creamery. Consistency is key. The staff by the name of Sammy was so helpful. She asked me if I was alergic to anything and was willing to help me find a choice. I ended up with black hills gold ( their #1 seller) and this place sold me. I will for sure stop by again and treat myself!!
Gordy Jones
Great variety of delicious flavors. You can taste the freshness. Although the wonderful smell of waffle cones being made add to the shop's ambiance, I prefer the five flavor sampler in a dish.
Andy Riehm
They have really good pizza and icecream. I take my son here once in awhile and it never disappoints! The cook at the pizza place, which I believe is the same business because it's all connected inside, does a really nice job! They also have a pinball machine but it's a buck for 3 balls, which seems pretty steep. It's not even that great of a game.
Rotimi E
Came here for the lunch special. The pizza was good, the slices are not too big, but their ice-cream was bomb. They have a wide variety of flavors, actually more flavors than you see in your average large ice cream chain like Insomnia Cookies.
Allison Coyle
Love the variety of ice cream and waffle cones. There is always a new different flavor when I visit. Sometimes there is a wait, but well worth it. The pizza looks great although I've never had it.
Jenny Danielson
Amazing ice cream; Mac Daddy and Cookie Monster are my favorites.
The pizza is also seriously delicious and underrated. I’m not a crust fan but theirs tastes great. Plus the delivery is super prompt.
Mark Dolan
Still the best place to stop for an ice cream. For 25+ years, the pleasant surprise of a malted milk ball at the bottom of a handmade cone. I go out of my way to order a different flavor each time. The fundamentals of the ice cream make every flavor great.
Priscilla P
Quality of the ice cream is little to alright when compared to all the ice cream places in town.. Hwoever my heart is here though because Grand Ole Creamery holds its charm all the way to today and I grew up with this place. The exterior of the building is quaint and I always receive good customer service by the workers.
Chase Nelson
Grand Ole Creamery is a great place to get ice cream in the Grand Ave region. They have a few unique flavors and make their own waffles cones. The service is always professional but the amount of people visiting the place usually makes for long lines.
Benjamin Kitt
There was a time when the Grand Ole Creamery ruled Saint Paul ice cream and we would often visit year round for a creamy fix. Then the new kid on the block, Izzy's, stole our hearts. For the first time in years we revisited the Creamery recently and, boy, have we been missing out!
I have to say, the Creamery had upped their game and stolen us back. The ice cream was the epitomy of sweet, creamy perfection, the flavors fun and varied and servings as overly generous as ever. My wife and I tried Coffee Break and ended up taking a quart home. I am told I will be sent back for more once the carton empties.
If there is a downside to Grand Ole Creamery, it is that I am not sure I will ever be able to eat any other kind of ice cream again. I can live with that.
Deepak Sethi
Love their ice cream as well as pizza! The ice cream is do good can be well told by the long lines outside the store. They even keep doggy ice cream which I'm sure is much appreciated by our furry friends :)
Dan Burkhart
Great experience great ice cream..
John-Paul Hurley
Very friendly and always delicious. I considered knocking it down to one star because the location isn't ideal for eating on site (cramped inside and so close to a busy street outside with no shade), but the variety & promt size easily makes up for it.
Mark Davis
I think everyone that has been there knows this place is amazing and iconic. Food, service, and atmosphere is very welcoming and fast.
Tikken Grey
One of my favorite ice cream shops of all time, but I feel/taste its not the same as 15 years ago, when they had less competition. Now it tastes similar to izzys, which is still quite good. Shops like this are still what serve as 5-star shops, in my opinion, and are what I use as reference.
The waffle cones taste fresher here (I only order w/ waffle cones).
Beau Boss
I wanted ice cream and a waffle with maple syrup, but they didn't have any maple syrup. I was going to change my order, but they actually sent an employee to buy syrup for me! Service I'll never forget. It was delicious too!
Jenna Loeppke
YES!!! My FAVORITE ice cream. My best friend and I frequent this place in the summer and I almost never fail to get the Cookie Monster flavor - although I always think about trying something new. Love the old-school look and feel and the staff is always hard at work and friendly.
Angelica Evens
Great Ice cream!!! A bit expensive but so worthy 🍦
Birthday cake ice cream is the best!!! …
Sem (whatthesamm)
Line can go out the door and cause a lot of crowding. Ice cream is rich but with the good taste comes the bigger price. Sitting at the tables on the sidewalk is nice, it's easy to see someone you know here if you live in the area.
John Blood
The Creamy Standard for local homemade ice cream available in standard and changing flavors. A favorite of Mayors and Presidents, Grand Ole Creamery is a can't miss ice cream place in St. Paul. Pizza in the attached pizza restaurant too! Waiting outside to get in really is a large part of the community fun. You never know who you'll converse with, what children will charm you with their laughter, and what friendly dogs you'll meet.
Herbert May
Went here tonight for my birthday, the owner got called away and forgot our pizza in the oven. He was so amazing, apologized and replaced the slices for us with hot fresh ones. The food is always so good and the ice cream is even better. Love this place!
Duane Lenander
The ice cream options here are amazing and the waffle cones are to die for. Prices are a bit spendy for some ice cream, but the quality is worth it.
This place has a great ice cream parlor throwback / St Paul small store vibe.
Hali Schatz
Definitely the place for you if you fall into the good old fashioned rocky road and huge portions camp. If you're looking for a gormet experience there are other shops around town but the ice cream is really good the texture is excellent the flavors are yum if not exciting and the atmosphere is cute.
Joshua Hage
Having visited many ice cream shops in the Minneapolis st.paul area I always find myself returning to grand ole creamery for their wide selection of delicious flavors and large portions. Stop by on a hot summer day and you won’t leave disappointed.
Forrest Rhoads
This is spectacular ice cream, doled out in generous portions. The small size should be enough if you're going with your squadron instead of your brigade
Bobbi Jo Holtz
This places smells amazing! The fresh made waffle cone was delicious!
Dennis Stachowski
Went here for pizza and ice cream. I'm don't get all the hype for this place. The ice cream was good, but it's not the best ice cream ever (my opinion). The pizza needed more cheese on it and the crust is tough and chewy. We went out of our way to go here and probably won't do it again.
Neal Lewandowski
nostalgic. fresh waffle cones. ice cream is ok. staff is great. sarah "with a 'h' in sarah" was super nice and a great scooper. very good customer engagement.
Lisa
Went here twice, delicious pizza and ice cream. There's also a pin ball machine. The second time we went they switched staff mid bake and we ended up waiting an extremely long time because they didn't know who's pizza belonged to who. We ended up going back up to clear it all up.
Yakker
It's a great ice cream place with delicious pizza. This place deserves to be in business forever. The pizza manager has a sort of New Yorkie/jersey kind of directness that can throw a Midwesterner off. Maybe it's just the pizza effect. A date worthy joint. Make sure you clearly understand the size of these cones. My first time going there with my girlfriend my cone with bigger than my girlfriend's head. It was a completely hysterically maniacal amount of ice cream.
zach springer
Ordered a pizza and quart of Cookie Monster Ice Cream with Bite Squad. My wife and I loved the pizza even though we ate most of it with a fork. When it was time for ice cream we went to opened the kid to find it was blue, we both were confused but dug in anyway.. Needless to say I quickly asked my wife, "why is this the best ice cream I have ever had?" She said they don't start with vanilla and add flavors.. Either way, INCREDIBLE!!
Great family friendly environment and nice staff. Will be returning frequently!
Scott Gabrielson
Real food. Great service. Affordable price and Gluten free pizza!! Omg the cheese is so awesome!! I love real mozzarella cheese unlike the nasty cheese "made from mozzarella" they put on Papa Johns pizzas and they add plenty! you will not need to ask for extra cheese at Grand Ole Creamery.
Max Milton
Staff is always fantastic and their ice cream even more so. I love black hills gold and coffee Break in a waffle cone personally but their other flavors are delicious as well.
Celeste Harlow
They've continued to earn my loyalty for years. It is an old fashioned ice cream shop in every way. Great ice cream and their ice cream cakes and pizzas are underappreciated gems. Truly a St Paul staple!
Matt Cash
This creamery has a large variety of flavors and options. There are their staples but also flavors that rotate. A kid size is the same as a regular elsewhere! A few options for the vessel, we opted for traditional over a sugar cone.
Getting in and out can be difficult as the ice cream case is just after you walk in. Seating can be limited but there's more just through the wall archway in the pizza space.
Eric Rodriguez
I love ice cream. And this is the best ice cream you can get. Cookie monster is my favorite! Great staff too! Can't wait to try their other food.
Paul Kranz
This is the best ice cream in the twin cities. Many unique flavors, always fresh and a constantly rotating variety. Parking is a bit of a hassle in the summer but it's worth the effort.
James Williams
This will prolly be on my route To do they're Windows..but while I was here a had a fairly good size pizza.. The dough was nice crispy, n not burnt and the sauce was also amazing.. It was one of the many deals they have here n I think I had the two for one's with a drink.. Good stuff. I left there happy n full.. Right next door.. I mean in the same building but it's like two stores but one's a pizza food place and the other a ice cream shop.. N you know I had to have a double scoop of icecream.. Everything a+ loved it..
Matt Peters
Excellent place for ice cream on a hot summer night. Great selection, good portions, and you can even get a slice of pizza if you want!
Raquel Morales
Their pizza and Ice cream aren't the ONLY awesome things about this place... They have some amazing caring respectful employees that take the time to know you and have a real conversation. Kudos to Grand Ole Creamery for their 5star employees and yummy pizza and delicious ice cream!!!
Richard Howey
I must admit that I like Sebastian Joe's raspberry chocolate chip ice cream better than any ice cream at GOC but I can always find something I will like. The creamery does have the best waffle cones.
Caitlin M
Even though the line was long, it went quickly and was worth it! There are so many unique flavors to try and the staff was friendly. The ice cream was the best I have ever had! A great place to go.
Chuck
This is probably my favorite ice cream shop in the twin cities. Second would be Izzys. The flavors are always changing which can be a little disappointing when you're craving a certain flavor but I don't think I've ever been disappointed. If there is a line it'll move quick. There is only street parking but I've never had to park further than 1 block away even during the busiest of times. If you arrive by bike there isn't really bike parking so you'll have to utilize a lamp post.
Charlene Samarah
Fabulous extra creamy made daily icecream flavors. I take my grand kids there once a week. Also we love the pizza place its connected to next door
Gunnar Anderson
They have the most unique and delicious flavors of ice cream I've ever seen and tasted.
The Taro was unlike any other ice cream I've ever tried.
Please bring back the banana cream pie! : )
Tim Drake
Excellent, neapolitan-style pizza, hoagies, gyros and more, and some of the best homemade ice cream in St. Paul. I love their ice cream, their homemade waffle cones are crispy and delicious, and there's that surprise malted milk ball at the end. Can it get any better? I love their Black Hills Gold and their Butterfinger flavors.
abursaw
I was a first timer and i have to say i was impressed. Its a spot you could take a date here and fatten said person up with delicious ice cream and make small talk.
Warren Westcott
Just celebrated a sunny day with Ice Cream @ the Grand Ole Creamery (St. Paul location). Had a huge waffle cone w/ North Country Crunch...loved it. Enjoyed visiting with the staff there, and I'll be back for pizza and a big malt soon. The GOC is a great place to "chill" and treat yourself!
Eric Lemke
Classic St. Paul ice cream parlor. Summer nights tend to draw large crowds and long lines so be prepared to wait. It's well worth it though. Some of the best ice cream in the Twin Cities.
Catrina Rued
The Calzone
The kids and I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon for lunch and ice cream for dessert. The staff were all teenagers and so polite and professional. Forgive me for having a not so positive stereotype about teenagers, but I was pleasantly surprised. We ordered a calzone with sausage and tomatoes. It was huge, it was crisp, and it was only $8.50! When we went to take a piece of the calzone, a trail of cheese followed. It had just the right amount of sausage and sauce. The tomatoes were cut in nicely sized chunks and fresh. They were not soggy at all. We will definitely be returning for more calzones from this place!
The Ice Cream
We had to wait back in line to order ice cream. The line was outside the door, but we waited. Those teenagers knew what they were doing too because we did not wait long at all. I thought we were going to wait for an hour; more like five minutes! I ordered the pistachio and coffee ice cream flavors. The pistachios were crunchy and the ice cream was silky smooth. The same for the coffee. There was just the right amount of coffee chunks and it really tasted like a cup of coffee but rich, creamy and cold. We will definitely be returning for seconds!
David Skadron
Hard to believe this good of a ice cream shop is in Minnesota! It will most likely be crowded when you go in there, but it won't matter because once you get that ice cream you will know exactly why its so crowded. Make sure to get a piece of pizza on your way out, probably 1 of the most underrated pizza shops in the city. It is good even the president visited in 2014! (No Joke!)
Sonja Fernandez-Quiñones
Best pizza I've had since moving to the Twin Cities almost 2 years ago! My new favorite place to go. Ice cream is also classic and delicious!
Samuel Rosenberg
Great ice cream. Only had one bad experience when they kept swiping my card because they thought it wasn't taking the payment. I got charged over $150 and no one was able to help me because they were afraid to call the owner or someone in charge (This was all before I was flying out for a week and the bank wanted to cancel my card). I still come back, but I pay with cash now.
Tim LaPean
Best ice cream in town. Everything is churned fresh daily. The flavors change all the time. This place can get crowded, but they are great at moving people through. Few spots to eat inside, and also some tables out on the side walk.
Trixie Williams
Best ice cream and waffle cones ever. We hadn't been here in over 3 years. But, it's still the best!
Chad Austin
Great as usual! We make the drive from the south metro to go here. The best waffle cones anywhere, hands down.
Michael De Leon
Great place for some delicious ice cream in a quiet spot even if it's 17 degrees out. Had the banana split with cookie monster ice cream and the must try Black Hills Gold - even Obama liked it!
Jason Bridger
Awesome food great experience and atmosphere
Stephanie Mertz
Great pizza. Great ice cream. Great atmosphere. If you're visiting the Cities make sure to stop in and enjoy the treats in this true ice cream parlor. It's rare gem.
Michelle Ally
So many great flavors...can't wait to go back. The sraff was friendly and very helpful making the experience even better
Tonya Schmitt
Wonderful variety of homemade ice cream flavors! Nostalgic favorites and creative gourmet recipes. Sweet building, inside and out. Friendly, fantastic staff@
Debra Allen Norum
Good old fashioned ice cream connected to a pizza joint. Both arw tiny spots but with great offerings. Ice cream scoops are large and so is the price!
ba tmw
Always creative flavors and wonderful service.
Kyleigh Baker
Delicious the pizza was amazing, I would always go here when I was little and now I came back and it's still as amazing as I remembered the ice cream is amazing as well would definitely recommend!!
Ralph Jenson
Great ice cream. Flavors do change. But they always have something tasty. The pizza side makes a great calzone. Which side first? Eat dessert first, life is uncertain.
Holly Heimann
Wonderful delivery service and fantastic food!!! I ordered the Euro Hoagie and created my own salad. OH MY GOODNESS... WAS IT DELICIOUS!!! Their food was fresh and very flavorful! You know how some restaurants will still put the one food you can't have or don't like on your meal? Well that was me. I was concerned that they might have added the onions I said no to (really bad stomach ache for the rest of the day sort of thing) BUT THEY DIDN'T!!! Worth either going to or getting delivered to. No question about it!
grand Pizza
Read a review online about the salads and decided to investigate for myself. Ordered a Chicken Gyro Salad and it came with a warm pita and plenty of fresh toppings, big enough to share too! Top it off with a scoop of ice cream next door, and this place really knows how to keep you coming back!
Alex Rose
Pizza on one side, ice cream on the other. What more could you ask for? Best ice cream in St Paul by leaps and bounds. Highly recommended! They have so many different flavors and styles, you can't go wrong.
Jason Christenson
Friendly and fun. Classic style ice cream joint. Very busy, but they give very healthy servings of ice cream. There is limited seating, but this is a worthwhile place to check out!
Rebecca Peterson
The best ice cream!
Connor Graham
Simply the best ice cream on planet earth.
You need your head examined if you do not get their waffle cone.
I didn't vote for him.. but Obama ate here. That has to speak to the quality of the ice cream right?!
Muscle Movers MN
Love the icee cream. Not a fan of the pos device. They turn it around with TIP choices.
John Hodgell
What can you say about this pizzeria & Ice cream shop that hasn't been said many times before? Excellent, excellent food & service! 😋 …
Sherri Adler
Literally the best ice-cream I've ever had....
Jonathan Lin
Ice Cream Ice Cream!! Who screams for Ice Cream? Of course I do! I've heard many good things about Grand Ole Creamery from my buddies in the College of Pharmacy! I just haven't had a chance to try it until recently. My girlfriend and I were in the area and was craving some ice cream. We've been going to Izzy's in St. Paul, which is delicious and worth trying if you haven't been yet, but wanted to try somewhere new. We both hate Sebastian Joe's, so that will never be an option.
We decided to give Grand Ole Creamery a shot! It's located in a very nice suburban neighborhood near Saint Paul. It's right down on grand, which is filled with lots of good eateries like Cafe Latte. Amazing. I just love that part of Saint Paul. It's very calm, soothing, very nice place to chill.
Upon entrance, you will most likely be greeted with a fairly long line, especially on nice summer days! The line can be a little slow, but it will be well worth the wait!! Upon entrance, you can smell the aroma of them making the waffle cones! It smells like heaven..all that butter and cream in the air. Amazing smell. We decided to try a few different flavors while we were there. We sampled the birthday cake, sweet cream and Black Hills Gold.
After sampling, we decided to get 2 single scoops. My girlfriend got the birthday cake and I got the Black Hills Gold. They were both outstanding to me. So good!!! The birthday cake was really good. It was perfectly sweetened, unlike the overly sweet ones they make at Cold Stones Creamery. It truly tasted like my birthday while eating birthday cake flavor ;). So good. I got the Black Hills Gold, which was a very rich version of cookies and cream. That one was really good too. I usually don't eat or like Cookies and Cream, but upon sampling, I fell in love with this one. Black Hills Gold was very good! It's probably not the healthiest option, but man, was that one good!!
Lastly, we both got it on the waffle bowl. We couldn't resist the smell. It just smelled so good, we had to get it. However, it wasn't that great. Partly was probably due to the fact that the waffle got soggy by the time we finished the ice cream. I'd probably recommend the cone version if you want to try the waffle. The waffle isn't that special. I don't think I'll ever come across a cone as good as Ici Ice Cream in Berkeley. Man do I miss that place, but until then I will have to stick with Izzy's and Grand Ole Creamery.
I highly recommend Izzy's and Grand Ole Creamery over the unoriginal Sebastian Joe's. There is nothing special about Sebastian Joe's. I'd rather eat OTC Talenti or Haagen Daz than Sebastian Joe's. If you want to try some unique flavors then go to Izzy's. Though Grand Ole Creamery does have some different flavors like Taro, but a lot of their flavors are similar to each other. They have like 3/4 different takes of Cookies and Cream, which all taste similar to each other. Go to Grand Ole Creamery if you want high quality traditional ice cream flavors.
You can't go wrong with either Grand Ole Creamery or Izzy's, but you will go wrong if you go to Sebastian Joe's.
Benji Tri
Lots of on-premise-made unique and familiar flavors, with the smell of homemade waffle cones wafting out. Looks like an old-timey cream parlor. They serve good pizza too in the other half of the place. A St. Paul favorite!
Amy Osman
Great ice cream flavors, a big variety of items to choose from, and the staff is always so friendly. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Free samples too!
Barry S
Ice cream excellent. Worth the stop if you're in the mood for ice cream.... Large selection of flavors and good service considering there's always a line literally out the door. (That should tell you something!)
Matthew Gantz
Stop #238 for @pizzas365: Grand Ole Creamery & Grand Pizza has a decent (and cheap) slice that tastes pretty good overall. The biggest downside was a sauce that was a bit too watery, which made the crust soggy. 3.8 Stars.
Ba Vang
The ice cream served at Ole Creamy is worth the money bc there is flavor throughout the ice cream. Some ice cream you eat it, taste it's flavor, and it becomes plain afterwards but here, you'll taste it's flavor all the way. The ice cream here is home made as well, right in the back so it doesn't get any better than that. I'll say that Ole Creamery is hand-to-hand with cold stone, but if I had to choose, I'll choose Ole Creamery bc of its prices.

We love bringing our kids here. Special treat once in awhile. Pumpkin pie in a waffle bowl. My ALL TIME favorite!!!!
Shalanda Nyaosi
Customer service was good, need to have sugar free ice cream.
John B
The most amazing smells come from this place. The freshly made waffle cones are delicious. I can't wait to come back for more.
Josh Buck
A classic pizza and ice cream parlor. A historic place on Grand Ave. Even President Obama visited here! Exceedingly awesome pizza, calzones, and of course ice cream. The owner is a very nice gentleman who trys to greet everyone with a smile and a kind word. This place is a must try if you're in the area.
Dillon Pomeroy
My family and I have been going to Grand Ole Creamery since I was very young. It’s such a classic Twin Cities spot, and so dang tasty. I always go with the birthday cake, no question.
Miguel Talavera
Great Ice Cream 🍦 and Great attention and customer service. It justifies the price. I think is well worth it. …
Christy Lamoreaux
The quality of the ice cream is so good and they offer a wide variety. Love going there and it's such a great place. Love GOC!
Jackson Downs
Absolutely, hands down some of the best ice cream I have ever had. It's so amazing, the lines can be long very frequently but that's to be expected for how great the ice cream is.
Metrotune TV
You know, it's ice cream... It really shouldn't cost $6 for the smallest adult portion. It's not bad, but I don't notice a tremendous difference in flavor vs. something you could just buy from the store.
Melinda Calumet
There were 8 in our party and we were served in a very short amount of time. They were very busy and we still got good service and the ice cream was awesome! We come here every time we are in Minnesota.
Natasha Sanchez
Excellent ice cream and customer service. I would highly recommend. Best ice cream I have had in a long time. They make their waffle cone in house.
Tiffany Grimm
Pizza & icecream! So good, friendly service and lots of icecream options. Family favorite.
Shannon J. Anderson
Been coming here since I was a kid–probably 25 years! The line might be out the door, but it usually goes quickly and the ice cream and fresh waffle cones are always worth it.
Imagine The Chaos
Always friendly! Food is tasty and plentiful. One of our favorite places to grab lunch/dinner and dessert.
Kerry Westman
A delightful ST.Paul tradition to be experienced at least once per summer.
Half the fun is the people watching, with the other being the agonizing decision of which two flavors will best complement each other! Then you will be asked which flavor on top, and which on bottom! STRESSFULL!!!
But definitely worth it!
Rory Morse
Quick service, super friendly staff, GREAT ice cream. I'm generally not even an ice cream person, but I loved it. Highly recommend.
Emily Fowler
Delicous ice cream, but expensive. The staff aren't very efficient or friendly. I always walk away thinking the creamery doesn't need to try because they are famous-- not the feeling I want to have going somewhere for a treat.
Chris Hanson
Great selection of ice cream. A little on the pricey side for the amount you get though.
James E. Notto
I drive over 30 miles to get their ice cream. My favorite flavor is Sweet Cream. It's been consistently delicious for decades.
Christopher Hall
Great place, great ice cream, the younger staff need training to listen to customers and focus more on good customer service.
Enoch Griffen
The ice cream is really good in the line wait isn't as long as even when there's a long line they also got a pizza place connected to it where you can get slices of pizza & hot hoagies
Andrew Zoller
One of the best ice cream spots in the twin cities. Hands down wins portion size if anything! Get the monster cookie flavor 💪 …
Brooke Waters
So yummy! Didn't have to wait later in the evening. The Black Hills Gold was really good. Will have to go back to try something else!

Crystal Koontz
The taro ice cream has revolutionized my life. I dream about it now. When I don't have it, I want it. When I'm having it, my life is glorious and I just want more. Please do not ever discontinue this flavor. I cannot live without it. Please God, I beg of you do not discontinue it!!!!!

Park on the street and watch drunk people beg for money and people dumb enough to give it to them. Good entertainment while eating ice cream for sure.
Robert M Gore

It was a mistake to wait so long.

We visited on 7/26/20. We are from Chicago. The food was great and ice cream. On a scale 1 to 10. I give it a 12 if it went that high.
Dan Mc Dowell
OMG! This little store produces the very best ice cream in the Twin Cities!! There is often a line to get in. That's because they only produce products no one minds standing in line for!
David Aussendorf
Great Ice Cream and Pizza. Road here with my granddaughter. Had a very nice lunch. They also honor Bicycle Benefits with discount. Yeah!
Emma Nelson
I always love the ice cream here but the best part is definitely the cone! They even put a malted milk ball at the bottom to help with the melting.
Cedell Kindle
We stopped after a basketball game was clean waiter was very nice
Craig Willford
Grand Ole Creamery can be pretty packed with a long line going down the block on a hot summer day but there's a reason for it. Delicious ice cream and large portions!
Sheena Curry
You cannot go wrong at Grand Ole. With their wide selection of flavors there is sure to be something for everyone. I recommend the single split which allows you to try two different flavors!
Stacy Prowse
DELICIOUS... great value and atmosphere, very friendly staff.

Teresa Bintner
Love this spot on charming Grand Ave 😍 plus their ice cream is sooooooo good …
Camila Laval
Fast service and great ice cream.
Steph Standiford
A St. Paul staple. I recommend the cookie monster (cookies n cream with cookie dough, and its blue!) and taro (tastes like cereal milk) flavors. Yum!
Malizy Scruggs
Yummy, delicious ice cream and the portions are pretty big that you could share.
Paul DeGeest
Grand Ole Creamery and Grand Pizza are a "go to" for our family. Greg and the gang take good care of everyone and there is always a smile to greet us. It's a little too tempting for lunch!
Sam Anderson
Get a two-scoop dish, consider it a meal replacement. Totally worth $7.50... If you've got a stomach stout enough for such treatment, that is. Flavors are the best in town.
Henry Nieberg
I worked here for a while and all the flavors are really creamy and thick, you can tell that it's real ice cream. Personal favorite is the Mac Daddy.
Justin Sundberg
This is THE ice cream place in the Cities!
Don't you love S'mores in the summer?
Grand Ole Creamery has THE BEST S'mores ice cream!
Tonight I got a dish (less carbs), but they have THE BEST waffle cones you'll ever have. And they're all made ON LOCATION!
I think their ice cream is, too, but idk for sure bc I can't smell the fresh-made ice cream. 🙂
Steve Mekoli

Dale Feine

Stick with just ice cream.

It's the fresh homemade waffle cones for me. Big scoops- kids size is plenty for one adult.
brentfoo
I'm sure everything is else is good there but the ice cream shake I had was almost 7 dollars and just average, didn't even compare to coldstone.

Debra JJ
I was newly arrived in the cities when I ordered delivery without knowing anything about it. I ordered a calzone. Im not one to be shocked, but when I opened the box, my mouth almost hit the floor! Ive never had a better calzone - even having spent a year in Italy. I live in the suburbs now, but make it a point to return often! YUM!
Laura West
Wonderful ice cream, both traditional and more unusual flavors (Toasted Almond Creme Brulee and Butterfinger, among others).
Jack Johnson
great ice cream as always but disappointed none of the staff was wearing masks despite the recent city ordinance.

George Canfield
The service at this location was excellent and also they had a station to make the waffle cones or waffle bowls which I thought was very exhilarating experience
Jensen Oness
this review is specifically for the LAMB GYRO HOAGIE, standard lamb+cheese+veggies on a sub bun, cuc sauce and I think a slice of mozz // man, it's to die for, perfectly seasoned meat and everything, decently sized (get the full size). Eaten plenty of sandwiches en mi vida, but this deserved a shout out specifically
Kristin Stieg
