Cute, old-fashioned looking ice cream parlor. We didn't eat but we all had ice cream and it was delicious. There are TONS of flavors so check the tags on the glass, the list on the far right, and the large sign hanging near the register as they have different flavors listed. You get an extra scoop but luckily their signs show how many scoops you actually get (a small is 2 scoops for $4.75, medium is 3 scoops for $6, large is 4 scoops, etc.). I use the term "scoop" loosely as it was a huge amount and not traditional scoop. I saw a couple kids with tiny cones and a tiny scoop of ice cream that is perfect for kids (and I wish a had known about it before ordering a "small" for our child because it was more like a pint! Fun, nostalgic atmosphere. Very large servings. Great value. Pleasant, friendly staff. They had a steady stream off customers getting ice cream, hot dogs, pizzas, etc. the entire time we were there (which was over an hour while we were eating all that ice cream) and it wasn't even a hot summer day. Dar's Double Scoop shares restrooms with Hunter's Boys restaurant next door, which was closed or out of business but you could still access the bathrooms. Free on-street parking I front and next to building. May have a small lot in back.So glad we found it on a Google search after the place we planned to go to was closed on Sundays. We will definitely go back.

There was not enough help last night, but I came back tonight, and the employee apologized for being short-staffed on a Sunday. I was just glad to get a chance to have some amazing ice cream, and she gave me an extra scoop because I mentioned the long wait around 7 pm on Sunday. Great ice cream, good selection of grill items. Always a treat and cheerfully staffed. Thank you.

The icecream and waffle chips were good. But the coney dog and the hotdog with sauerkraut were substandard. I ordered through doordash so with the inflated prices I was expecting better tasting food.

Dar's has gone somewhat downhill since I last visited . It appears that He sold the operation to a new face that has kept most of the menu but somehow the pizazz is not there. Of course the ice cream menu is still huge, so if your in the ice cream mood go for it! Note the onion rings are second to none- A box as big as a shoebox full to the top and not greasy at all. All I'm saying is that Dar imparted a small town vibe that just isn't there any longer.

Ordered online, showed up 30 minutes later and our order hasn’t been started because their fudge machine was broke. No text or call. No other customers in the store so not like they were too busy. So after actually getting the ice cream, I must say it was damn delicious. Loved eating it just a hassle in the beginning.

Great ice cream and a fun place. Awesome prices as well. I didn't try any of the hot food, but the ice cream they serve is Browns and Cedar Crest. Good, high end stuff. Had the Spumoni, butter pecan, rum cherry, strawberry cheesecake and peanut butter cup. All were very good. I would definitely recommend swinging I'm and having some ice cream. Plus they are open later than other places.

I would highly recommend visiting Dar’s Double Scoop. The owner Kevin is so kind and the brownie hot fudge delight was so delicious, even on a cold winter’s night. Kevin told us he tries to purchase as many local ingredients as he can. I can’t wait to go back and try the food. Kevin said he makes the dough and sauce from scratch for his pizzas. It’s a very family friendly place. He named the shop after his mom and created it because he noticed there weren’t many family friendly venues in the area.

This is my favorite and one of the only places I ever buy ice cream! -Super cute decorations and Insta worthy spot. -A bit outdated but I'm sure it's nostalgic for some. -Tons and tons of great flavors, some I've never seen anywhere else. -Food selections, mostly fried but good for a summer hang out. -Amazing and I mean GREAT, like Tony the Tiger grrrreat value for the prices! My friends love this place as well and it's a regular stop after a beach day.

I love eating here! I had such a great experience with the customer service. I come here on occasion on Fridays and the staff there see that I’m thirsty and offered me a water bottle! They even see that I have rough days there and come talk to me. This place is a 100/10, would recommend anyone this place!

Very nice and kind people. Very clean establishment as well. That said I got a vanilla shake and ended up taking it back because it had a nasty after taste. They gave me a peanut butter shake for free. But, it tasted the same for whatever reason. Like the milk was expired or something. I had my mom taste both and she agreed that something was off about the taste. Although I probably won't get the shake again I would still go back in the future as they are some cool, kind and chill people 👍👍

This is a great, family-friendly ice cream shop. So many fun flavors, and the cones taste so good! Not a whole lot of seating, but you can enjoy your treats right outside. Reasonable priced for what you get!

Love this place!! Even though it's a bit of a drive I make it at least a few times every summer, worth it because of the huge variety and flavors that they offer here. I love it also have pretty decent food for an outdoor ice cream parlor

The doordash prices are too high, although I doubt it's in your control to change that. Everything I've had so far has tasted fresh, like the fryer oil was just changed each time. Plus, I never knew I liked polish sausage until I tried it here. Haven't tried the ice cream, I'll have to stop by sometime.

Great little local shop that supports the community and employs kids from the area. I always love the little stores that do so much for the community kids. This is the reason why I love this place, support your small business owner that actually gives back to the community. A must stop if you're in the area... My son and I love this icecream shop. Always give BIG SCOOPS. Sadly today this lady working gave us the wrong cone and only one scoop when it's suppose to be 2. Then she corrected it but the scoops were SOOO SMALL and if you go here you know how the cones are usually . Then ordered a root beer float and she put the wrong ice cream in it... So I'm sure she needs more training or guidance before serving the customers alone... But other then tonight always had great experience!

This place was a great place to visit. They had many flavors to choose from. I chose the French silk which I was even offered a taste to see if I liked it. I also went with the coconut. My fiancee got the lemon ice and she said it was too sour but she liked the Italian ice, but not the flavor. I thought the price was reasonable and many items to offer. They even offer food if desired like pizza, among others. I will come back if I'm in the area. Also staff was very friendly and customers seemed to enjoy the place as well as they were offering reccomendations. 😀

Great place to take the kids and has a BBQ next door. Dar's workers are always friendly and there is enough space between the old school booths to feel some space in this getting back to "normal" place we all are in now. Old time feel and good prices! Outdoor patio seating as well.

Dar's... been here since I was a kid! Bout time I dropped a review. Very affordable Icecream, Pizza, or even hotdogs! The owner is usually there but if not his helpful workers are there to help and even give you samples of their icecream. Support your local small business, especially during these hard times. The kids there who work there are awesome and the owner is always smiling and welcoming everyone in.

We have found an absolute gem! Always looking for a fun new spot to enjoy some ice cream. Today’s new spot did not disappoint. Dars double scoop is number one on our list! The most friendly staff ever. Maddy and Ahmad scooped up our generous dishes of ice cream. Ahmad was so personable, kind, friendly and helpful. They serve a variety of flavors of ice cream and their prices can’t be beat. We enjoyed five different flavors of ice cream and everyone was a hit. We will definitely be stopping back Kevin Barrett, the owner was there. He made us our order of cheese curds which were delicious and an excellent price. He was very kind and personable. . Dars double scoop also serve pizzas. We plan to go back and order pizza for takeout. If the pizzas is anything like the ice cream, we will be sold!

This place is great! My husband discovered a love of Superman ice cream during a trip to Utah. When we got back, I was hoping to find a place here at home that carried it. Luckily, I found Dar's! I surprised my husband with a quart for Christmas, and he LOVED it. I called in advance, and the guy at the counter already had the quart packed up and ready to go. Awesome service, thank you so much!

TL;DR: Cute place; good ice cream; wear your masks. Dar's is a cute locally owned place with interesting and tasty ice cream flavor choices. If we were not in a pandemic, I would give Dar's Double Scoop five stars - but the place has a sign posted that says "masks required," and neither of the people working wore a mask. Why have the sign? Just wear a mask. It is not difficult, demonstrates a concern for the wellbeing of people around you, and is just wise. In November of 2021, in addition to this being about established science, it has become a mark of politeness or lack thereof. Do you want to give people who enter your business wearing masks in a pandemic the impression that they care more about your safety than you do theirs? If you do, then you are doing it correctly. Otherwise, read your own sign and act accordingly.

Good, quick hot dogs and sides. The ice cream and sherbet was great. The employees were kind and courteous. We took some family selfies on front of the giant hot dog and ice cream cone and one of the cashiers came out to help take our picture. Great ice cream here. Lots of flavors to choose from. The food looks great too, though I haven't tried it yet. Lots of people were ordering the pizza. The owner is great and very helpful with suggestions for ice cream flavor combinations. This is one of those fantastic neighborhood spots that everyone should check out at least once.

The place is a bit rundown and the staff isn’t always exactly the friendliest but they have a great selection of ice cream and fair warning, they have 3 sizes to choose from. I cant even imagine what the 3rd one would be as I’ve only ordered the first two. The first time I ordered I got the second option and it was ridiculous. 4 huge scoops precariously balances atop a waffle cone melting faster than I could eat it. It was sooo worth it tho. Big bonus was that they had peanut butter chocolate fudge.

I personally like it. It's one of those old fashioned kind of Ice cream places. Small so you never have to worry about it being too over crowded which I personally don't like. But be warned I don't think there are rest rooms. Prices are fair and have a wide range of flavors of ice creams.

This place has a lot of charm. The prices are very reasonable and the ice cream, fried cheese curds, and onion rings were surprisingly good. The owner seems to be one of the few genuinely nice people that I have known. There's a pokestop assign to it, and that speaks volumes about the place.

I can't say enough good things about this place. It stands out from other ice cream stores both in the quality of the ice cream and in its fair pricing. They give you a huge amount of ice cream for very cheap. You're allowed two different flavors for a single scoop because you actually get a lot more than one scoop! They also put malt balls at the bottom of the waffle cones.

I used to bring my kids to this place when it opened many years ago! Superman was their favorite flavor. It was our favorite place on summer evenings. Great local ice cream shop, although a bit rough in appearance. They have many flavors and sling them at a decent price. Much of it is the usual kemps brand commercial product, but there are some more uncommon special order items that ensure Dar's selection is more broad and unique compared to other local restaurants and Cafes offering ice cream. They also serve hotdogs and fried food, fulfilling the American ice cream shop profile. The interior needs a handyman and a few small upgrades, but again for the price of two scoops in a waffle cone in this day and age, nobody really has room to complain! Definitely a suggested visit if you're anywhere in or around St Paul this summer.

The prices are super reasonable, and the ice cream is great. They also have Italian ice for lactose intolerant/vegan diets. If you're looking for a quick bite, Dars also has pizza, deep fried foods and awesome hot dogs. The German dogs are a favorite of mine.

AWESOME pizza! The crust is to die for! I have never eaten a pizza with such a wonderful crust. It was a thin crust that was almost pastry-like; wonderful flavor and crunch. I ordered a pepperoni pizza and it was COVERED with tasty, not too spicey pepperoni. The cheese was delicious and plentiful. This is how a pizza should be. When served, it was a sight to behold. I'm only sorry I didn't take a pic of it. This ice cream/pizza parlor is cute, clean and has ample, smiling staff to serve you. You can get the harder to find flavors that you grew up with.
