SomiSomi is literally one of the best places to get Korean style soft serve. I've been a customer ever since they opened and I don't think I've ever had a bad experience. While some of their "limited edition" flavors are a miss, I like that they try new things in order to improve the customer experience. As of 1/5/2022, their limited edition flavors are Cookie Butter and Milk Tea. I tried the Milk Tea flavor and it was very spot on to what milk tea tastes like. I would recommend getting the upside down ah-boong over the normal ah-boong since it's much easier to eat. Parking is free with validation and there are plenty of restaurants in the plaza. To the owner of this location: Please bring back the honeydew flavored soft serve. It was definitely one of my favorite flavors and its availability was very short lived.

SOMI SOMI!! If you are in Los Angeles, and would like to try something unique and different...I recommend for you to go to Somi Somi. This particular location is in Koreatown on Western. It's on the 3rd level of the mini shopping center (Where the H mart is located). Their ice cream is delicious!!! Sooo creamy!!! And the Taiyaki it's soooo cute!!! They have different fillings for the taiyaki, definitely worth trying all of them!! My family and I we hope you guys enjoy this place the way we do. 🥰😍

This place is a star in my girlfriend’s eyes. They loved the matcha cookies n cream and the fish and guava ube I almost forgot to mention the strawberry milk. I heard it was delicious!!! Im not much of a strawberry myself but I do trust my girl

Unique take on the waffle, the Taiyaki is a fish looking waffle filled with good things such as Nutella, Oreo, custard, red bean , and taro. Near parking level 2 is where you’ll find this gem.

Good soft serve and taiyaki! You order using a machine and have to put in a phone number at the end. However, I didn’t have a number as I was just visiting, and I didn’t find the option to skip this. I got the matcha and cookies and cream swirl with custard filling in a cup. Didn’t really taste the cookies and cream since the matcha flavour was overpowering but still enjoyed it.

Truly the one of the best, if not the best soft serve I’ve ever had in my life. The taiyaki with taro filling was so so so good, fresh and warm. I had the ube flavored soft serve with matcha powder and coconut flakes and it was really authentic and good. It rose beyond my expectations. Highly recommend visiting!!

WOW! Fished-shaped waffle stuffed with an assortment of fillings topped off with soft serve. Need I say more? The only thing is that the self-service checkout wouldn't let me put my name for them to call out. It kept telling me it was "invalid". I had to put my middle name, Sky.

Taiyaki is great, but they don’t usually put ice cream in it. Unless it’s a Samanco. I love the fish shaped pastry that’s used as a cone or decoration. But some of my favorite flavors are black sesame and cookies and cream. Yum yum. The only downside is how fast it melted :(

Delicious! Ube soft serve with taro in the taiyaki is a great combo. There’s some patio seating, also a courtyard on the first floor of the mall. I found free street parking on a Sunday so I’m not sure what the garage rates are, but there are a couple right next to it too.

I bookmarked this as one of the spots to hit up on my LA trip and I wasn’t disappointed. I tried ube flavored icecream for the first time and loved it! They have weekly swirl specials and I got the ube-matcha swirl. Not a big fan of matcha but ube hit the spot for me. Next time I plan to try their other flavors and specials too.

I personally really enjoy soft serve ice cream. Ordered a Ube and cookies n' cream swirl. Both were flavorful and surprisingly went well together. It was my first time trying taiyaki. Was filled with red bean paste and was pretty soft.

Love this place! They sell a classic Korean ice cream with a contemporary spin on flavors and toppings. The service was also super fast and friendly. I saw another review here noting that the plaza felt "shady" but they must have never been to Koreatown or are from the suburbs, because this plaza is one of the nicest and family-friendly in LA.

Ordered a horchata-ube swirl ah-boong, filled with custard. The taiyaki was crispy and well made, however the taste of the horchata was lost and was overpowered by the ube.

I had been here before in 2017 before the pandemic. They change out their flavors quite often. Last time I went I had a black sesame seed and matcha twirl inside the classic fish body cone. Today I had a mixture of horchata with cookies and cream inside the classic fish body cone. It was just as delicious as I remember it being. However what has changed is the people that work there no longer take your order. So we stood there awkwardly for like 10 minutes waiting to be addressed by them I thought they were just busy. Finally the gal turned to us and said you have to order on the screens. It's fine We ordered on the screens and it was super easy You punch your phone number in and they text you when it's ready. Slightly annoyed that they waited that long to tell us that's how it works. But at the end of the day we got the ice cream we wanted and it was seriously just as delicious as I remember it being.

This little place can get super busy but they have ways to alleviate the crowds in store. There are two digital ordering kiosks that you have to use. After you place your order, you'll be notified when your order is up via text message! Make sure you come back frequently as the soft serve flavors rotate.

Didn't have that many flavored options, the "Oreo Crumbs" were just a little bit of sprinkled dust that it didn't even taste like Oreos 😒😑 a box of oreos costs less than the ice cream itself! The milk ice cream tasted good though, it was super creamy and it tastes like actual milk 👍🏼 the custard and the little fishy cone were really good as well. At least you get free parking validation with your purchase😁 the place didn't have any chairs to sit so their customers sit on the chairs outside from the restaurant next door 🤦🏻‍♀️

Awesome flavors and pretty cool that they offer free toppings! My only complaint is that the ice cream starts melting almost immediately, and you have to eat it quickly at the beginning to keep it from dripping all over you. Also, ask for parking validation and you get 2 hrs in the parking garage for free!!

One of the best places to get green tea soft serve. Green Tea - cold, soft, that tasted like green tea. Didn’t have much of a matcha taste to it, which I prefer. The Nutella is nicely coated on the inside of the fish. Rating based on food alone. Service was great and loved that each worker wears something to cover their mouth to prevent from accidentally spitting into customers ice cream when preparing it. Would I come back? Certainly.

Love this place! The fish shaped cone is not too thick or dry, and so it doesn’t break up when you bite it like a traditional ice cream cone might. The flavors are delicious and pretty unique: matcha, black sesame, milk, and ube for the ice cream. All except milk are dairy free!

Located on the 2nd floor in the plaza. The fish-cone ice cream place! Soft serve flavored ice cream with a special cone makes your dessert look like a fish stuffing its face with ice cream. Pick an ice cream flavor (Milk, Matcha, Ube or Black Sesame) and then a filling (custard, Nutella or red bean) and then top off your picks with a variety of fun cereals and sprinkles. Ube is a purple root, with white chocolate and pistachio flavors. Often confused with Taro, which is also a root but isn’t actually very purple. Ice cream was soft and creamy, not too sweet but plenty rich. Costs about $6 per fish cone. Expect a line out the door, the line moves quickly. Employees are super friendly and they care about getting your fish cone looking like a fish. Presentation is everything here!! Free parking with validation.

Love this dessert place. It’s always a tough choice between SomiSomi and Sul&Beans next door. Definitely try the Ube and Matcha flavors. The ice cream is all lactose intolerant (perfect for Asians like me). The line is usually super long so prepare to wait for 20m if not more

The desserts were so good! The ice cream had great flavor and they are even lactose free if you don't get milk flavor. Green tea was my favorite because it was sweet and bitter. The taiyaki was very soft and delicious. I really enjoyed the snack!

The ice cream here is pretty good, although I loved the Taiyaki (fish shaped cones). The cones are a very fluffy texture and tastes great with the filling and the ice cream especially. Not only do these desserts taste good, they look amazing and are very instagramable. Pretty long lines, but definitely worth the wait. There are free toppings as well, I'd highly recommend!

Wanted to try for so long - was so good. Line was long when I was there but the people working were quick and efficient and stayed friendly though they were busy. Strawberry milk a bit pricey but worth it :) 10/10 recommend!

There was a line and we had to wait a few minutes for them to make the ice creams. But it was worth the wait! I chose milk flavored ice cream, a Nutella filling and Oreo cookie crumble and nonpareils toppings. You could choose as many toppings as you wanted however! In addition, you could choose between a macaroon or a strawberry. The macaroon was one sided but delicious. Next time, I will try green tea flavored ice cream and a red bean filling for a traditional treat. There are other shops on this complex also offering this dessert but the line was here so I took that as a very good sign!

Much love for SomiSomi. Every visitor I cross paths with in LA I immediately send there. The cones themselves alone have the best waffle taste. Then the fillings are all excellent (red bean all the way for me), and every softserve flavor is a 10/10 (always a struggle to pick among matcha, milk tea, and ube). The chain also has awesome cold brew and strawberry milk and creates a fun vibe at each location. A true gem in SoCal

The ice creams taste amazing and the wait is relatively short. You have a selection of 2 types of ice cream flavor, filling, and topping. The Ice cream cone is shaped like a fish which I thought was pretty aesthetically pleasing in relation with the shop. Overall had good experience with friends at this place.

This place is amazing! The ice cream here is to die for, seriously a one-of-a-kind type of taste to it! It's a small, all-glass shop in a shopping mall in Koreatown. It's very simple, with only a few flavor combination options, but they all taste delicious. Sometimes, simple is best. That is definitely the case here! You can watch them make the custom, fish-shaped cones right in front of you. You then choose to fill them with either custard, nutella, or red beans. I got the custard, and it tasted incredible. I actually loved the cone even more than the ice cream itself! A bit pricey at about $6 for an ice cream cone, but it comes with a lot of extras and a truly rich and delicious flavor that makes it well worth it.

I got the ube flavor with Nutella filling. It was so yummy! All flavors except for milk are lactose-free which is great if you have a sensitive stomach like me. The service was fast and friendly. Be careful because when you get into the cone, it can get quite messy!

When my boyfriend and I were visiting LA, we decided to check out Koreatown and after having dinner, came here for dessert. We decided to share an ice cream. We got the matcha ice cream, and it was delicious! It didn't taste artificial, like some matcha flavored foods do, and it wasn't overly sweet. I wish we had this in Houston! I will definitely come back if I'm ever in LA.

I thought this place was going to be another Instagram popular ice cream store that's very mediocre but I was happy to be proven wrong. Yes, it is very cute but it also tastes pretty good. The ice cream was very soft and creamy. The milk flavor wasn't too sweet for me and I love that you can change the taiyaki filling. Nutella taiyaki is magical and I actually miss this place. Best taiyaki ever, hands down. Fish shaped bread is always fresh and never stale, and the flavors are always creamy and new. They have many flavors, fillings, and toppings! I got black sesame and ube, custard filling, with sprinkles, macaron, and graham crumbs(?) I believe.

There's many fun combinations and options to try and each one is good ! The taiyaki are served hot, fresh and soft and tasty. The Ice Cream are beautiful and as good as it looks, Smooth Creamy. Can't go wrong with taiyaki + ice cream + macaron. The rest of the plaza closes early so if you get lost just listen for the people standing in line. The line system was scattered so it's hard to track if someone cut in line, especially with so many large groups. I waited nearly 45min on a Saturday night ~ 10:00PM. It was really good but I don't think I'd come back on a busy night.

Love the black sesame and ube swirl. They have four flavor of icecream that are available in two different combination/swirls each week (on rotation!). You get to pick one large topping and unlimited smaller toppings. They had custard/nutella/red bean filling for boong-uh (gold fish). Honestly thought the custard worked well with the cone and icecream. Enjoy!

My tip would be to get a cup with the fish on top. The ice cream here is too melty and drips pretty badly when you're eating it as a cone. The flavors are pretty good though. I would prefer a thicker cone.

Ube & cookies n cream ice cream was incredibly tasty and blended very well together with the Nutella filling I chose. The other flavor (2nd pic) was milk tea and matcha with taro filling and I didn’t think that was that good of a match but that may be just personal preference. The taiyaki (the fish shaped pastry) was very crunch and soft on the inside, incredible! Overall would recommend and the outdoor scenery is also pretty cool. Note: They only have 6 flavors at a time that they rotate, you won’t be able to get all of the flavors you see online.

Very tasty soft serve ice cream and I enjoyed the novelty of the soft, warm fish-shaped waffle cone. I ordered ube and Oreo swirl soft serve with an upside down fish filled with nutella, then added Oreo crumbles and a strawberry. It was a very decadent and filling desert. Would be good for splitting. My girlfriend ordered the fish right side up and that did get pretty messy. They had lots of outdoor seating and you could spread out throughout the mall as well.

Bit of a line, but a yummy experience, and once you get to the counter you get your order quickly. It's nice that the filling, choice of toppings are included and the swirl was light, not too sugary. But the REAL reason to go is the freshly baked fish-shaped waffle cone. The amazing smell enticed us. I've never had a soft, warm cone for froyo or ice cream before and now I don't want to go back to hard waffle cones.

Ube ice cream in a fish shaped pastry with custard was so good. I got it coated with fruity pebbles and a macaroon. Eat it quickly because it melts in the LA heat. Better yet, ask for it in a cup and get a spoon, much less messy. Either way, grab some napkins and enjoy. They validate parking too. Hand the ticket with your ice cream payment.

Delicious ice cream place! Comes in a waffle fishy which is crunchy but soft enough to eat. You get to customize it and put whatever toppings you want and you get to choose what sauce you want inside of the fish. Its always been busy when Ive gone, but the service is pretty quick, so I would definitely go again when I’m in the area.

My wife, my daughter and my granddaughter are regulars and the love the fruity and freshness of Somi Somi, I finally was convinced to try it even though I am not an ice cream fan. I am regular now, I love the fresh and healthy fruit. Employee made the ice cream so homogenous and fresh. My favorites the strawberry and I definitely recommend it if you're looking for a healthier approach for sweet delights.

One of my favorite ice cream places. There's free structure parking (2 hour validation) and very creamy ice cream with some free toppings you would expect from a yogurt place. It is pretty good value, but definitely worth for the taste. My friends and I often come back here after dinner in KoreaTown.

The presentation of the ice cream is absolutely adorable. I ended up getting the green and white ice cream which was actually pretty good. I'm not into green ice cream like that but the combination with the white ice cream and the Cone made everything go hand-in-hand. Overall this tasty treat was worth my money.

This dessert is fun, delicious, and imaginative. I love the fish "cone." I'm pretty sure they are trying for similar take to the popular dessert "Samanko." The one gripe I have with the dessert is that the ice cream melts extremely fast. Like, much faster than any other ice cream cone I've had. It was delicious but I was a sticky mess in the end.

The aesthetics here are so on point! It's a really cute small cafe located at the Square Mix. We ordered the Born shaved ice, Bora ice cream, & green tea tiramisu. Definitely on the pricier side, but picture-worthy. Green Tea Tiramisu: a little bitter because of the match on the top. I feel like they should have mixed it together. Born ice cream: super thick and not much flavor. Not very much to my liking. I wouldn't order this again. Bora shaved ice: This was my favorite! It's pretty sweet and has a good balance of the milk ice and the purple yam flavor. But the portions here are very tiny and small! Definitely overpriced.Not sure if I'd come back here again since it's so pricey, but if it's your first time, you should definitely check it out. TLDR: Minus 2 stars for it's price and portion

I had Ube and Black Seed ice cream, and honestly I couldn't taste any difference. There was supposed to be custard filling in the middle, but couldn't taste that either. There was nothing special about this place except for the cones. Nothing tastes unique. They are NOT worth $5 each. I only give 3* because it's ice cream.

This place serves really good ice cream as far as I know they has green tea, ube, milk, and black sesame flavors and there are different swirls depening of the week. Incredibly delicious ice cream! I took my daughter and her friend who found this place in one of their explorations of our neighborhood, Koreatown. It's kind of hidden upstairs in this little Korean mall, so if you didn't know about it you might not find it, but it is definitely worth searching it out! If you haven't had it, Somi Somi is a soft serve taiyaki place. Taikyaki is like a fish pastry and here, it is filled in and topped with ice cream! The ice cream flavors include milk, matcha, milk tea, black sesame, ube, and oreo, with either nutella, custard, red bean, or taro filling. Each soft serve-filled fish is $5.95 and soft serve only in a cup is $3.95. The ice cream is flavorful and creamy without tasting too sweet. Warning: the fish can get a little too filled and cause ice cream to drip down the fish and hands. Otherwise, the fish is soft but crunchy on the outside and is a delicious treat!

On-site parking is available and is validated with purchase. Located on the second floor of the mall that houses H-mart, this is the place for ah-boong, a fish-shaped waffle cone part lined with either custard, red bean or Nutella and filled up the rest of the way with soft serve (matcha, ube(sweet potato), milk or black sesame flavor - all but the milk flavor are lactose free). Add other toppings like graham cracker crumbles or strawberry. The soft serve is creamy and flavorful, but eat reasonably quickly because it melts pretty fast - or just ask for it "upside down"(in a cup). Get a spoon and napkins when you pick up your frozen treat at the counter and specify your toppings. Matcha is a favorite, but you have to try the black sesame and ube combo, available every other week.

The ice cream was tasty (though it melted inexplicably quickly and was all over my hands - the temperature was likely not low enough). The problem was lack of cleanliness in the area facing the customer. Apparently they give out samples but have no trash bin for people to dispose of the cups and spoons they give out. So the front counter and the floor is littered with dirty paper cups. Would not visit again unless they deal with this.

A fun little bamboo pick with strawberry and Marshmallows. Nice touch. One draw back. The girl at the register. Looked like she hated life. LoL. I tried my best to smile and say things like how is your day and More smiling to get her to budge. But to no prevail. She still had that RBF and was unamused at anything. Besides that. Place is cool. Small and simple straight to the point, good, creamy, sweet and deliciously frozen yogurt. Enjoy! Ps: lots of other cool little places in this plaza to eat at. So go hungry.

A novelty Asian fusion dessert from Korea, I'd rate the sweet treat 3.5 stars (the ube and black sesame soft serve was too bland for my palate), but bumping up the rating to 4 because of pleasant service and having a less than $6 dessert (before tax) as a more accessible sweet snack compared to the $10+ bing soo shaved ice sold in the same building by another vendor.
