Handel's has and is always my go to Best local ice-cream option. You can never go wrong with the price and flavors. The portions are huge! My favorite scoop is Chocolate Raspberry. I especially love the huge chunks of chocolate wrapped in raspberry surprising your taste buds every now and then. The seasonal flavors are great and I never am disappointed with the new flavors. Great place to hang out with family and friends in summer - open queue concept and lots of parking available at the Carmel location.

Who doesn’t love ice cream?!? Handel’s has a rotating menu for the seasons and some very yummy standards. I absolutely love that they have dairy free options! So many toppings to choose from. There are also strawberry shortcakes, brownie sundaes and huge ice cream cakes to get. Prices are very reasonable and they have a no contact payment method. The workers are very friendly and you can ask for samples of the ice cream before you buy. They do offer baby cones for kids under 3 and for doggies. Don’t let a long line steer you away, you’ll want to hop in like too!

I decided to stop by Handel's in Westfield to try the key lime pie ice cream this afternoon. With the weather being a scorching 90°+, I expected a wait. However, to my surprise, the line wasn't very long today. I was able to order after just a few minutes of standing. The total was around $5 for two scoops in a dish. I enjoyed the ice cream flavor and the small pieces of pie crust mixed in. It wasn't overly sugary and just felt fresh, so it definitely meets expectations for "homemade". Overall it's not a bad stop if you're in the mood for a dessert. I'll be back to try another of their flavors, soon.

Handel's is a household staple for us. The black cherry ice cream is phenomenal. I love their rotating monthly flavors and standing in line is never a burden knowing what's coming.

I liked it, similar to Bruster's ice cream. The scoops were generous...my picture is one scoop but it looks like two. The strawberry was creamy and tasted like real strawberry. I didn't feel any ice crystals in the ice cream, which is good. The staff are all younger high school aged kids...some are extremely helpful and others act a bit more their age. Overall, I'd go back to try other flavors. Prices aren't bad for the amount of ice cream you get.

The BEST ever ice cream spot in Carmel. There is competition but Handel’s winning it hands down. They have rich flavors of chocolate like chocoholic chunks which will satisfy your chocolate cravings. Their portions are pretty good too. I’ve been a repeat customer for a couple of years now and will recommend to anyone looking for an ice cream

Delicious ice cream. Husband described his chocolate chip cookie dough as awesome and his favorite ice cream ever - he said the vanilla was so creamy without being heavy. I had sherbet and it was great. While there another family sat with us and we learned you can get a sampler - something we probably would’ve done but we rushed our decisions.

Great place! Customer service was amazing. A sweet tall boy was at the window and was so helpful! I had never gone there before, but all my friends at bowling said it was THE ice cream place, so I went to try it. They have so many delicious looking flavors so I asked this young boy to surprise me and he gave me black walnut! What a delightful ice cream flavor. He also complimented my Disney chase card! My granddaughter actually picked it out for me because she loves Disney. Lot of ice cream for a good price! He said his favorite ice cream flavor was oreo-dough which is like Oreo cookie flavor and classic cookie dough, but I said that might be a little too sweet for me! Maybe for my granddaughter, she has a sweet tooth. Will stop by again!

The ice cream was very good. I got two scoops of orange sherbet, which was more than I expected, but it wasn’t too expensive and it was delicious. They had two people working, and one of the employees was talking to their friends at the window which was very impolite on the part of the friends and the employee. I had to wait longer than I should have because the other employee was doing all of the work. Other than that, great experience.

As I came into the city to watch my nieces and nephew while my sister is in labor, the oldest of the children quietly asked if I'd like some ice cream before bedtime. Of course, dear one! She pulled out an ice cream tub from the freezer from a place I'd never heard of-- Handel's. Decadent, rich Snappy Turtle ice cream embraced my taste buds like a perfect soulmate reunion in a romance movie. Chocolatey, nutty goodness in every bite. I fully understand why the woman with the cravings would crave this ice cream. Without even the proper in-store experience, I can gladly recommend ordering from this establishment. YUM!

This is my favorite place for ice cream. I love the texture and flavors. It's one of those places where I take friends when they come in from out of state or out of town. If they haven't had Handel's before, then I make sure they try it while they are here. Everyone I've taken LOVES it! I do too. :) If I want a treat, I'll order up a few quarts and savor them slowly. Handels is consistently one of my all time favorites!

Me and my husband went there on a chilly fall evening. We were amazed on how many options they have with such great prices. $4 - $5 for scoops and sundaes!! They were absolutely delicious. A must visit for ice cream lovers.

First time: From when we got there, fell in line, ordered and when we received our ice cream took about 10-12 mins. Evening around 6:50-7p, there was a line but not too bad, there was a glare on the window where the menu is; it was kinda hard to read/see the words. We had strawberry ice cream that we thought was delicious and flavorful. We also had snickers ice cream and cotton candy. Which we agreed didn't taste as well as the strawberry. Will try different flavors another day.

Best ice cream in Carmel/Westfield area. All over cream is made on premises. Strawberry ice cream in particular is the best I've ever had. Portions are generous and service is always friendly. If you are coming on evening with nice weather, be prepared to wait it line.

Just had the worst excuse for chocolate chip ice cream that I’ve ever had. THREE little pieces of chocolate in the entire cone. Basically, 99.9% vanilla. **Update** I just did a return visit to Handel’s. After my review a couple of weeks ago; the owner reached out to me to apologize and ask me to try them again- on his dime. I did that today and I’m happy to say the quality was dramatically improved. Instead of 3 little pieces of chocolate- there were too many for me to count!

Our favorite ice cream shop in the area. Spouse like a house and chocoholic chunk are probably the most often purchased flavors for us, and the monster shakes are indeed monstrous. One shake will usually last me about 3 days... Or sometimes 2... They do have monthly rotating flavors and a huge selection of constant flavors. Also, the staff is usually really good and they move pretty quickly.

Easy to find, quick service, easy parking and delicious ice cream. I've never seen a Handel's that isn't packed, but the line moved relatively fast. I got the flavor of the month, Chocolate cake batter, and it was really good and tasted similar to chocolate cake. The scoops are huge too, and the prices arent bad for what you get. Highly recommend this place!

This is the best ice cream I've had in Indiana and possibly the best I've ever had. They have a wide variety of flavors so as long as you enjoy ice cream they are sure to have something that will interest you. We've had them several times and none of my family has ever had anything we thought was less than excellent. The price might be a little bit higher than some of the chains but it's more than worth the price difference. Try a milkshake made with their orange sherbet.

Moved to Indy couple of months ago and finally tried their ice cream. It was so good. The coffee chocolate chip one is the best ice cream I’ve ever had. I literally said “this is so good” like four times. Lol. I can’t/don’t eat dairy/lactose and I’ll literally risk it for that ice cream.

Handel's ice cream is always packed on a nice spring summer or fall day. It is also packed around dinner time when you go to one that's around a bunch of restaurants. The wait time is usually anywhere from 2 to 5 minutes before you can order and then it takes them at least another five minutes or so to make your ice cream and have it ready. With that said, there are so many flavors to choose from and so many different contraptions that you can order that it really makes it a good place to grab an ice cream. Personally I still think dairy Queen is my favorite because there is no soft serve at handles, but if you want some scoops of ice cream with some unique flavors this place has at least 20 or more at a time. I really wish Google would have given me the suggestion to review handles a while ago as I really cannot eat that much ice cream so my last dessert was pretty much an ice cream sandwich. Even though I want a pistachio, and they were out I still enjoyed my vanilla ice cream sandwich.

I was very pleased with the customer service at Carmel Handels. In particular this young man named Zach was very helpful to my son and I. He is lactose intolerant and usually doesn’t enjoy dairy free ice cream. However this time was different. Very good options and lovely service. 10/10 would recommend

This place has THE BEST ice cream! Every time I find myself in the Carmel area, I've got to have Handel's. Their waffle cones are filled with quality ice cream at a great price. I recommend the chocolate raspberry truffle. Their customer service is always fast and friendly. Be ready to stand in line outside, though. This place is a walk-up and always busy. We waited 10-15 minutes the last few times I went. Totally worth it!

Went to the Handel's on 146th Street in Carmel on Sept. 18. The ice cream was excellent and the service was good. However, there was an unpleasant odor of trash or sewer gas along the side of the store where the dining tables are located. The stench was so bad that we left. That issue really needs to be addressed.

One of the better ice cream stands in the area if not the best. Ice cream made on the premise daily. All quarts and pints are hand packed to order. A huge selection of flavors with extra flavors added seasonally. There are also offerings of sundaes with all the trimmings. My favorite stopping place for ice cream. No indoor eating areas but there are some tables outside to sit and enjoy your ice cream.

Always great ice cream. I always get the four samples, you get one scoop each of four different things. That way I can stick to my favorites (pistachio and butter pecan) and can try two new things every time. Love going there in the summer time. Always expect a long line though, as they are so popular, but the line moves fairly quick, about 10 minutes for your turn to come.

A great variety of flavors with standards and specials. Ice cream is cold but not so frozen that you can't taste the flavor. Outdoor seating is limited so wait for smaller crowds and crowds can form. They tend to move somewhat quickly depending on the work crew.

I usually really like this ice cream spot, but due to the customer service I felt earlier I will not be coming back. Yesterday night I got the ‘Chocolate peanut butter brownie’ ice cream. I came home to find out that it had over a scoop of pure solid peanut butter. So I waited for the following day (as they were closed) and drove back with the chunk of peanut butter and showed them. One of the workers told me that it is completely normal for there to be a huge chunk of peanut butter. So I ended up ordering another ice cream assuming they would take care of it, but I was expected to pay another $5. (I would not care if it was my fault, but no this was on them). I look at it’s description which states “chocolate ice cream with Reese’s Peanut Butter® ripple and brownie chunks” ripple is by definition “a type of ice cream with wavy lines of colored flavored syrup running through it.” so a huge chunk is not a ripple. I call the store after getting home, to voice my concern. The lady told me she makes the ice cream, and it was their fault, but doesn’t make an attempt to rectify their mistake. Most awkward call I’ve ever had with any customer service rep. If I wanted a scoop of peanut butter, I would walk over to Kroger and buy myself a whole jar of peanut butter for 1/2 the price. It’s only for their ice cream I have them a two star rating, customer service, beyond horrible. Thanks Handles. Handels did fix the mistake, so I will be giving it back the 5 stars it deserves!

There's always a line wrapped around the building, but even so they get orders out very quickly. The staff is also very friendly. They have a huge selection of flavors and they're reasonably priced. To me, there's nothing really "special" or "outstanding" about Handel's, except for the service. There was nothing spectacular about the taste...it tasted the same as any brand with the same flavor.

While visiting Carmel IN, my husband and I tried looking for a new ice cream destination. We saw the website for Handel’s. The picture showed a line wrapped around the building and we were like, “Wow, that must have been a busy night.” Turns out most nights are that way! The ice cream is all made fresh daily and is absolutely delicious. The clerks are very helpful and patient and provide a lot of samples for the indecisive ice cream chooser! The only downside, there is very little seating. So as long as you are comfortable sitting on a curb or a sidewalk, you will have a great experience.

Awesome ice cream with a huge variety of choices. You could go every day during the summer and not have the same kind twice. Only drawback is that there are not great seating options. A couple of benches on the side of the building which can be a bit hot on a really sunny summer day. Cones will melt fast so best to plan to have a dish with a spoon on days like that.

Best ice cream in Indianapolis! Birthday Cake is my favorite. 2nd place for me is Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. I'm sure every flavor is great. Their ice cream is filled with chunks and swirls of goodies. They definitely don't skimp. Plus they sell hand packed pints and quarts that are filled to the brim!

This is place THE far northside spot for ice cream. Plus, I can't think of another place you can get the childhood staple "nerds" hurricane anymore. But this joint has 'em, and it's absolutely worth the trip if you need that kick-in-the-pants sugar rush that your evening has been sorely missing. Expect a line, but it moves relatively quickly.

Bethany is the most magnificent Handel’s worker in the galaxy. She scoops icecream like no other icecream scooper I have ever seen in my entire life. Her smile illuminated the entire atmosphere. I think she should be paid $1,000 an hour.
