We family of 5 came here 3 times on our 10 day vacation. We drove around the island looking for ice cream and after a couple bad stops we found this glorious place. The Gelato is vegan friendly and there is a flavor rotation as some of the flavors we had the first visit weren't there the second. The staff is super kind and friendly and we appreciated that the music was soft to everyone could hear our order. We will definitely return when we visit Oahu again.

Got 3 scoops in a cup that included lavender iced cream, green tea iced cream and coffee iced cream. Although three very different flavors, it still tasted so good together. Flavors were just the right amount or sweet. Definitely need to go back and try more flavors

I am vegan and was so happy to find this place to get a vegan frozen treat! I got the strawberry cream flavor which was amazing!! I also got mochi and sprinkles on top, so good. It was expensive but honeslty worth it.

I'm not a big sweets or ice cream (gelato) person, but their homemade creations are always ono. Haven't seen a mint chocolate chip option yet in the few times I've been. I like that they let you get two flavors, all the way down to the teeny keiki size cone. Super popular place so expect to wait during peak hours.

A locally owned gelato shop serving up delicious house made gelato in home made cones. With a window into the kitchen to watch the gelato being curated! Dine in and save coin! Be eating in the shop, you save twenty cents per cup! The shop also serves up some tasty coffee! Prices are fair for your taste and experience you get! The artwork is phenomenal, hand drawn chalk board are looking very professional. Cute shop definitely work a stop for the sweet taste after a date night!

When you think of gelato you probably don’t immediately think of Hawaii (less sensitive people would think of something like Italy while more sensitive people think of ice-creams eggless alternative), and you would not be wrong for that. Via Gelato is not trying to make a grand statement about some great unknown gelato culture in Hawaii, because there is none. Instead, they are just making some really good product with local inspired flavors that demands impulse buying on second portions and return trips usually made within the same week. Very cool!

Haven't been back since Covid started, but it's as good as we remembered it. We got the mango float, green tea mochi, lilikoi and Okinawan sweet potato. All the flavors were good except the mango float. Maybe it was a bad batch, but it tasted more like a grainy pumpkin pie with a small hint of mango.

I read and heard so many good things about this place that maybe I was too hyped or that our experience here fell short. The better half and I brought my two nephews here as one is lactose intolerant and they had some nondairy options for him. The better half did some taste testing and decided on the toffee coffee and my eyes were locked on the beer butter but I saw that they had an affogato, so I changed my mind and got that. One of my nephews got the mango sorbet and the other one got some kind of oreo thingy. We were so fortunate as just when we got our stuff a group of people stood up and left. My nephew quickly went and grabbed it for us. While the conversation was awesome no one said anything about what they were eating. When I dug into my affogato, the coffee was really strong and very bitter. It was just overpowering the whole taste that I would normally throw it away but i didn't want to be that negative Nelly and ruin the mood of our conversations. After getting home I asked the better half what did she think of hers. She said for the price that small little cup (like the one they give you at the dentist to rinse your mouth) for around $5 was not worth it. I'm sure my two nephews felt similar as they are usually really vocal when they eat good food but they didn't say anything. Oh well, at least we got to try it. One and done for me anyways.

5 stars based on customer service. The staff was kind, patient and will lyk sample. They sample with metal tiny spoons. Mgr on duty was also kind. He helped his staff. I prefer IL gelato or Nordstrom gelato. Wait time 15mins at 830p on a Tues. NO RESTROOMS for customers. Parkg is far and few. A few tables inside. They sell stickers, keychains, bags. They have help yourself water.

So good! All the flavors are made on site. You'll get your scoops in a ramekin because they're not into single use waste. Yay! If you have to dash (if you can't sit and enjoy) then bring your own (clean!) containers. But you'll want to sit and enjoy the ambiance and your generous serving of gelato. Look for chef specials! Today's was Earl Grey Tea & Mango and Mango Bread. Wow!

The shop was so adorable . It was very delicious, they didnt really have lots to choose from, I just had brown sugar vanilla (i think) with unicorn food (sprnkiles & colorful cone) they also have GOLD ! I know they make it fresh everyday so it depends on what they are making that day. Explains why there are such little to choose from. But they have already packaged pints as well.

Really enjoyed the gelato. There are a lot of different flavors. I like the strawberry shiso, lilikoi vegan and strawberry cream. They also have vegan, which is great for my family members who have food allergies. In fact, I got an oreo gelato cake for my nephews birthday....ono! If you are ever in Kaimuki, a wonderful cool down option.

I have been coming here for years so it's probably time for a review. Pre-pandemic, they have the greatest flavors on rotation and do great work generally. With pandemic, they have made it even easier to get your gelato to go! You can text or order online for pints to go, pay ahead (with online ordering), jump in to grab it and go. It is super easy. So if you haven't checked them out and want to, I highly recommend it.

This shop is so adorable from the moment you walk in. Decorated cute with a nice open area. The person behind the counter was super friendly knowledgeable about their products. Always delicious! I had the Fierce Chocolate today and it is fierce in flavor. If you like chocolate, nope, make that if you are a chocolate lover (like myself) get this! Admittedly I went there because I had a certificate for a free pint of their Gelato. How excited was I when I saw they have a great selection of vegan options!! I was able to pick up 2 smaller containers and I'm ecstatic! The haupia is so creamy and full of flavor. The staff there was so attentive, courteous and very appreciative. I treated myself to a kiddie sized scoop of their vegan strawberry Gelato- mmmm, ono! And way bigger scoop than I expected! Popular gelato shop. Sometimes when we go weekend evenings the line is out the door but it doesn't take long to get served. Might not find a spot to sit down but it's worth it! I love the unique flavors. Today I had a peanut butter with chocolate almond toffee. So yummy! My kids had the fierce chocolate which is indeed very fierce. Not your average chocolate. Very dark. Maybe a little too dark for my toddler but my chocolate-loving 8 year old loved it. Always very friendly and inviting staff.

Some original and interesting flavors of gelato. Some have good flavor and some just sound good. Waffle cones there are yummy tho.... very unique and tastes like a cookie... fresh and crispy. My favorite is usually the frosted flake flavor. Gelato seems softer then regular ice cream too but their sorbets usually have good fresh flavors... like guava... calamansi with basil....unique little spot

A pleasant surprise as a visitor from the East Coast. Interesting variety of flavors (green tea oreo, milk tea, mango, peanut butter oreo, black sesame). Cute little store with cool ambience. The employee there was so pleasant and willing to let us try many flavors before deciding. Gelato is refreshing and not too sweet, which is how I tend to like it. Reasonably priced.

Excellent experience! The spoons are perfectly shaped to scoop out the bottom of the bowls (you'll see what I mean when you try it), and the flavors are inventive. Customer service is friendly and helpful, just like it should be. This is what a dessert shop should be like.

We came here after a nice dinner with family and expected great things. When we first arrived it was crowded, which is a great sign that it should be good. We all got the Rocky Road and overall it was delicious. My reason for 3 stars was the service. Definitely lacking in efficiency and communication. Getting our gelato half melted because it took so long to prepare isn't acceptable. Overall, the gelato itself was good, but the service needs help.

I just devoured a small cup of almond cookie and black sesame while my husband had a regular cup with fudge coffee swirl, intense chocolate, and stracciatella ♥️♥️ so yummy. We will be back to try the mango bread no ka oi flavor, mango sorbet with mango bread chunks, and the mountain apple sorbetto!!

My favorite flavors are Frosted Flakes and Butter Pecan, but honestly, I haven't had anything I didn't like there yet. Do not pass on the waffle cone -- honestly, the BEST I've ever had.

While good ice cream, this isn't the gelato I'm accustomed to and the selection of flavors is limited. The chocolate is good and its texture was the closest to gelato. The fruit flavors were okay and the texture was more like sorbet. I was glad to see them using ceramic bowls and metal spoons in Via. On an island where styrofoam is pervasive, it was nice to see a business making a difference. The server said the bowls were made by the owner - nice touch! We'll go again earlier in the day to see if it is more like gelato when it is fresh.

Delicious gelato. Made in Hawaii with lots of local flavors and flavor options. They try to be plastic waste conscious by using metal spoons (my personal preference) and have a nice seating area indoors and a nice bench outdoors. The flavors are not overly sweet, so you dont leave there feeling like you will fall asleep...Goma (sesame seed) gelatin reminded me of Chinese gin dui.

How have I not written a review for this wonderful place?! Melissa Bow is the owner and the person who makes magic here. Magic in the form of gelato. The gelato is the best in Honolulu. I love how light it is yet the flavors are able to come through! This place is located by Hale Vietnam. She originally was a food truck I heard and sadly never tried until I stumbled upon them in her brick and mortar. You can look for street parking or park in the lot behind and pay. This place can get pretty busy but you can call and order your pints to go if you know what you want. Also seating is limited...and has community tables so be prepared to be friendly and make a friend. But don't worry, you won't have to share your gelato unless you want to. I never want to.... The flavors change daily so follow their social media accounts to see what flavors they have, mainly their instagram @viagelatohawaii. They also serve lunch- soup and sandwiches. Oh and coffee. You can have an affogato here too which is amazing with dark chocolate sorbetto or vanilla bean! But come on, who are you kidding? You are going to come for the gelato! There are four sizes (keiki, small, medium and large). You can choose up to two flavors which you definitely will since you won't know what to choose...so many good flavors. Gelato will run you $3.50-$5 for a cone or $3-$5 for a cup. Some of my favorites...dark chocolate sorbetto for the richness, lilikoi sorbetto for the tartness, black sesame for the smoothness, frosted flakes for the sweetness, oatmeal cookie for the originality and gingerbread for the holiday spirit! Everyday they have 10-15 flavors to choose from. Of course, the later you go...the less they have. They also make these wonderful handmade waffle cones. They tend to drip sometimes so get it like me...put a cone on it! Have your cone on top of your cup! See photos I've posted. Fantastic place!! We had no plans on coming here but it was soooooooo ono. I had the large cone with birthday cake and cookies n cream (I know it's basic) but it was DELICIOUS!! And only $5!!!! You cannot beat that. For my wife and I's cones combined it was under $10. For handmade, local gelato you can't beat the taste and price. Plus they have a board where you can write down recommended flavors… come on yuzu!!! We will return!!

My husband and I used to come get Frosted Flakes and other cult favorites such as milk tea and black sesame gelato from Via when we were dating. We couldn’t think of a more fun element to add to our wedding other than Via Gelato! They were able to provide 4 of our favorite flavors and take a gelato freezer all the way out to the North Shore for our Hawai’i Polo Club wedding in March 2019. Our guests loved the fun flavors and inside peek at our first dates! The entire team was helpful and courteous. I highly recommend Via Gelato for your next event or cup of gelato!

Great place for gelato. Constant stream of customers so we've been lucky to find seats for it group the past two times we've been here. It's in the midst of eateries in kaimuki. So have dinner at a nearby restaurant and if you want to splurge a little, go to via gelato. Would have been fine stars, but no restroom facilities. Had to leave and drive elsewhere to use a restroom.

It was good that the gelato was moderately thick and had a variety of flavors. If you like fruit flavor, I recommend the guava flavor. If you like sweetness, honey caramel is better than green tea flavor. Personally, I liked the earl gray flavor as it had a strong scent.

If you have dinner in the Kaimuki area, you want to put up with dessert and come to this restaurant. The natural atmosphere of the store, which uses wood-like materials, is a comfortable space, and on Fridays and Saturdays it is open until 23:00, so it is lively until late. When I entered the store around 21:00, about 10 people were waiting. There are about 20 types of gelato that line the storefront, and they seem to make them by hand every day in the kitchen attached to the store. There are so many different flavors to choose from that it can be hard to decide, but you can order with confidence as they will let you sample. Sizes include kids, small, medium and large. Kids and small are enough for Japanese people. You can choose two types, and if it is small, it is enough for two girls to share. Adults also ordered kids sizes. While retaining the flavor of the ingredients, it has a gelato-like kneaded texture. Excellent natural taste. If you eat here, you will feel that Haagen-Dazs is not delicious. Recommended!
