Arethusa is one of my favorite places for ice cream, so while we were in West Hartford Center, we just had to get some! I combined my two favorite flavors, chocolate and strawberry, and I’m always impressed by the generous portion sizes for a small cup. Though parking can be a bit tough, I might actually prefer this location to the original in Bantam just because there’s plenty of seating and room to wait if there’s a line. Luckily for us we only had to wait a few minutes this time!

Hazelnut returns!!!!!! Years ago now I was fortunate enough to have far and away the best ice cream flavor I've ever tried, Hazelnut from Arethusa. Ice cream snobs would be hard pressed to find a more delicate, nuanced flavor. The ice cream base itself is hazelnut flavored and hazelnut is definitely the star of the show, with the occasional dark chocolate chunk and actual chunks of hazelnuts as well. This flavor should be added permanently instead of appearing every couple years.

Arethusa farm is well known name in Connecticut. Their ice cream and other dairy products are great. Arethusa main store is in Litchfield, CT however west hartford store is also great.

Ice cream was really good! Lines were long but kept moving. Do not be intimidated by the line! The coconut ice cream with chocolate chip was nice, along with the strawberry ice cream.

The eggnog is the best, but the price is higher than a pothead. 🤣 They don't take cash and the staff wants big time restaurant tips like 18% for counter service. $120.00 worth of eggnog that I retrieved from the cooler doesn't rate a $21.60 tip when they aren't even carrying out the items. I'm saving the bottles for next year and making my grandmother's recipe 😋

Best ice cream of West Hartford for the best price. Ice cream at competing places is 2 times the price, while this ice cream is on the lower end of cost and tastes fresh. There are seasonal flavors here, which are both a blessing and burden, which allows us to try new flavors when we show up.

I was really excited to try Arethusa in West Hartford after hearing great things about their other locations. I got a cone with almond coconut and pumpkin ginger snap ice cream. Both flavors were delicious and creamy. I love pumpkin and was excited to see a pumpkin flavor offered in summer! Can’t wait to return.

This is one of my favorite ice cream places! I love that I'm nearby. Ice cream is homemade and their small is like a regular size (2 scoops) for the price of a kiddie! Flavors selection is small but worth trying - all are delicious and fresh. My favorite is the coconut with chocolate chunks or the pumpkin with molasses (seasonal). Soo yummy 😋

You won’t ever regret this place. Known for its cheeses, you will not go wrong with any of the milk products. I’ve tried the original location as well but so pleasantly surprised and glad they opened at this location too. Must try the ice creams for sure

Love this place! I got the seasonal peach ice cream last time I went and it was amazing. It was so fresh with chucks of fresh peach in it. Also the Maple walnut is so delicious.

I worked at a creamery where we made our own, high % milk fat (read as *real), ice cream for nearly a decade. For someone who is a non expert, or might not know what real authentic ice cream looks like, you can always tell how real it is by how greasy it leaves your lips/mouth after eating it. This stuff passes the test, and my guess is somewhere above even 12% milk fat which is super premium. My litmus test is always chocolate chip, and theirs is so good I stop in and get a cone if I find I’m near a location, even if I’m not hungry or looking to get ice cream. I also routinely buy their pints from Big Y, and you can also tell these are the same high in milk fat quality because they are solid, and need a good 10 minutes or more to thaw if you aren’t accustomed to scooping *real* ice cream while it’s still cold, which is much more dense then brands that don’t have as much fat. Bonus tip, if you buy their take homes, always make sure to pack your ice cream down (making the whole thing one flat level) to prevent freezer burn and keep it fresher longer. So glad this place is finding success and has multiple locations. The quality is real, unlike many large chains which are lucky to hit even 6% fat and are mainly ice. Also for this specific location, I found it amazingly clean, and the quality excellent. In addition to my usually cone, I had an egg sandwich on a croissant and it was unbelievable. You could tell the egg was farm fresh just by the flavor.

being their loyal customer for years! So glad they finally open a store here in WH, so I don't need to drive down to New Haven for the scoops any more. My favourite flavor is rum raisin, so creamy and delicious! Beats all types of other rum raisin ice creams elsewhere! The price went up a lot recently, probably since last year. Before the price is definitely a big big plus. But still, the flavor is not disappointing. Almond is my second favourite.

I had the chance to check out Arethusa in late February on a whim as we were already in the Blue Back square on Doggie business. Given the slight off season, the inside was quite quiet compared to how was in August when we visited the area last. The building inside is beautiful and the ice cream is set up like a traditional ice cream parlor with the buckets behind the glass where you can choose your flavor of choice. Against the wall they have refrigerators where you can get some of their fresh dairy products like their milk. We just got ice cream though this time. February what!? I went with Cookies and Cream. I enjoyed it very much. It was creamy and everything I was hoping for. Had it been August it might of tasted even better but the only person I can blame for that is my ice cream craving self. I highly recommend that you pop in for some ice cream on your next visit to Blue Back or this area of West Hartford.

This ice cream is soooo good. My favorite that I have had in a while by far! I got the double chocolate (chocolate with chocolate chunks in it) and it was fantastic. Really dark and full chocolate flavor that a lot of ice cream places skimp on, and the chocolate chunks were not waxy at all. If I was around here I would be a regular! Be warned that all of the servings are large. The smallest size is two big scoops of ice cream. I wish they had more exciting flavors but it’s good enough that plain ones are fantastic.

I just tried this place for the first time at the recommendation of one of my coworkers. I had almond toasted coconut and maple walnut ice cream. those two flavors complement each other perfectly. At least in my book. I tend to be critical when it comes to my ice cream and this was excellent! The flavor was great and it was the perfect texture and creaminess. The portions are extremely generous and among the lowest prices I have seen around here for the amount of ice cream you get. The server I had was very friendly and helpful.

Arethusa Farms West Hartford store is a treasure! We go for the ice cream which is so fresh and lip-smacking good. Try the Peach if it is still available. The service is efficient and so polite, and the decor is very-well, "Farm chic". Pictures of beloved cows grace the walls. Did you know they wash the cows daily? The same love goes into the store offerings - which also include light lunch and breakfast fare, and a dairy case. Try their rich creamy yogurt - its a "10".

Straightforward, easy process: cashier asks what you want to order, then you pay!! No need for a take out window during the summer! Most delicious is the all of them (sweet cream and pistacho!). Yes more! Twice as happy as I was a year ago thanks to Arethusa. Yum.

If you're looking for great ice cream look no further. Arethusa Farm's ice cream is rich and flavorful. Be aware their ice cream is not meant for a ice cream Sunday. Adding toppings would would be an insult to this ice cream, so don't expect your run of the mill ice cream shop experience.

My wife and I have been a big fan of Arethusa for quite some time, and love their restaurant up in Litchfield. We've stopped by the Farm Dairy shop in West Hartford a few times now and love it. The ice cream is rich and extremely flavorful. The sandwiches are fresh made and are neatly made. Theres a great selection of their cheese and other dairy products if you're willing to pay a bit extra over the larger brands (it IS worth it to do so). Definitely will continue to stop by.

I love this place in Bantam but the west Hartford location isn’t consistent and could use some service training from the Bantam staff. Not very welcoming and recently payed $18 for two slices of quiche and there was no cheese in it. It was basically egg and tomato. I usually love the quiche but this time was a fail and isn’t always great and make sure you check your to go orders cause they have always forgotten something but I catch it before I leave
