This is always our go to dessert when we are around Ankeny. You have to try it at least once, and you'll be coming back for more. I love the fruity flavors they have, I always go for the very berry signature creation. The staff is always friendly and it is fun to watch them roll the ice cream right in front of you.

This was my first trip to sweet swirls. My wife had been wanting to try and give this place a try due to all the you tube videos on rolled ice creme. I had never even heard of this process before. They had a large selection of ice cream and topping choices. I decided to try the Vanilla ice cream with peanut butter cups and cheese cake. My wife got the chocolate ice cream with oreos, chocolate sauce and caramel sauce. The whole process was kind of amazing. They took the peanut butter cups and cheese cake and put that on the cold plate. Then they added the cream and it all just began to freeze. They chopped up the peanut butter cups and cheese cake while they were spreading out the cream. The more they spread the more it froze. When it got hard they cut it up and started to roll it down. They were then able to put it in the cup with just a pair of tongs. I then opted to get the cherry on top. The ice cream was not like normal ice cream it was soft and velvety but a little harder then a soft serve. This was a great experience that I am sure I will enjoy again. I was glad to hear from the owner that they are adding one in Johnston so I won't have to go as far to get some fun ice cream.

Great ice cream! Rolled ice cream isn't your normal ice cream, they make it right in front of you & mix in your favorite ingredients. I've had this style of ice cream from a few different places & Sweet Swirls is my favorite. The ice cream is very light & refreshing compared to soft serve.

Cute little shop with great ice cream :) the wait is a bit long, but that's to be expected with rolled ice cream. The wait is 100% worth it for the delicious, creamy rolls of ice cream that are the result! The employee was very kind and friendly and talked with us while we watched her make the ice cream rolls.

This is a rolled ice cream shop. They make the ice cream right there on the spot and offer diary free ice cream. They have a few specials you can choose from but they really shine in letting you the customer make your own concoction. You want a peanut butter strawberry ice cream with a marshmallow and caramel drizzle, go for it. Its a really fun experience and its not super expensive. They also do ice cream cakes, ice cream cookies, and milk shakes.

What a fun experience! The ice cream is super yummy and fun! The staff the several times I have visited have been very friendly, helpful and professional at the same time. Great customer service and a great product too. Great for a girls night out or just a fun outing with the kids. The "Girl Scout" has become my all time favorite. This place was also well kept. Clean and inviting. Only con would be the parking lot entrance on the west side could use some work and parking lot isn't the best layout.

Love the idea, flavors and customization. Staff are always really friendly. I wish they had umbrellas or an awning for the outdoor seating as it can get really hot and bright. Also, because of the process there can be a line sometimes, so I recommend non-peak days or hours.

Got the Unicorn Ice cream. Vanilla ice cream, fruity pebbles, and marshmallow sauce. I'm a big fat man who eats a lot of ice cream. It was honestly the best ice cream I've ever had. No exaggeration. Staff was fast and friendly. I can't recommend this place enough.

I would highly recommend going out of your way to try this place! I went there once and definitely plan on going back! There hours are very accommodating. They did take a little bit but that’s the style of ice cream they make. I thought it was cool that I got to watch them make it right in-front of me. If you are afraid of Covid make sure you don’t go when they are busy. Besides the workers they don’t require masks.

Delicious ice cream. The line was long, but definitely worth the wait. Very much enjoyed the way that the ice cream is essentially made up order right in front of your eyes. It reminds me of a hibachi grill, expect with ice cream. Despite what was obviously a long line, the young staff were quick, competent, and pleasant. I was with someone who was from out of town and they were very impressed with the entire experience. Will definitely be coming back and would 100% recommend this place to others.

The is the only rolled ice cream I've had. It was good, but nothing amazing. Small shop. Very nice staff. Not a place you probably want to stay and eat. Although they do have a picnic table outside and we ate there. That was nice. I won't go again, but if you loved rolled ice cream, this is worth a try.

It's an experience. You can choose from a variety of toppings and watch them add it to a liquid base on an extremely cold/frozen surface & turn it into swirls of ice cream. It's a process, so be prepared to wait... especially if you go in a group larger than 2 people. Delicious! Fun for something different. I believe they have a Groupon out.

Was good, but, semi-poor seating options, kids dropped ice cream because of the tall tables and wobbly stools. Might be better with a few booths vs the soft chairs. Radio said something about allergy friendly but there are nuts all over and shared tables. They do clean the surfaces and scoops if you ask them to. Overall neutral but we would most likely go back and recommend.

Staff had masks and gloves on, thank you! Hubby picked up 2 regular cups for to-go, my dad gifted us a Groupon, and brought them home. Chocolate cookie monster ice cream and peanut butter one off the menu were delicious. We kept trading back and forth because both flavors were so good. We will be back!

I really want to rate at 3.5 stars.. but I'll give them the extra half. I want to say that the ice cream itself is always good, never disappoints. The staff is usually high school students, actually it's always high school students. And I get it, cheap labor. I would do the same. But, with that said, the place is always messy. Almost to the point of being gross. I don't think it's dangerous as far as food safety goes, but it still bothers me. Tables and floors could use much more attention. Maybe hire one more person to clean up after people. My wife loves it, so, I will continue to go, but maybe I'll just sit and eat it in my car...

Came here for some depression treats and I already feel better. The space is open and inviting with happy decoration and sweet people. The staff is truly sincere in there desire for you to have a good experience. Even during the rush my ice cream roller didn't the time answering all off my questions and drew a cute design in red sauce for me. The price is very reasonable for the ice cream and the experience. The atmosphere is perfect to lift your spirit our to keep it high. My only major critic is the volume of the radio but it makes sense when you realize how loud the rolling process is.

Excellent fast-freezing creamery serving a modest selection of flavors with fun names. I enjoyed it for being different than chains and local. I wouldn't get the larger size dish again because it's not worth the price for added 2oz of cream. However, you won't drip all over with the bigger dish.

This is a cute place to get some yummy rolled ice cream. It was nice to hear how they started out in a food truck and was so popular that they found an indoor location. I like how you can customize your ice cream and make it your own. Very cool to see that they just use one base and build your ice cream from there, by adding different flavors, mix in and sauces. It's like watch a you tube video in person! To see them mixing and flattening and then scrapping it to form the rolls is so fun to watch. I can see why this place is so popular

We took our niece, nephew and 2 grandchildren here for the first time. The staff were all very accommodating and very polite. The ice cream was top notch and the kids enjoyed watching the rolls be made. We will definitely go back again!!!!

The employees here work super hard hand making your ice cream and they do it with a smile on their face. They're funny too and very energetic. I went there late right before they closed and they didn't seem in the least annoyed and were still very friendly.

Amazing, made from scratch ice cream. If you struggle with allergies from additives in ice cream this is the place to go as they don't have any additives in their ice cream base, although i'm sure if you are allergic to peanuts etc, that you would have to ask about that. The ice cream is both beautiful and delicious, and the prices are fair.

Ice cream like you never had ice cream. This is not your scooper and dish ice cream parlor but ice cream made in front of you with your choice of ingredients (too many to name!). Don't ask about the science, but the ice cream is ROLLED from a thin sheet and served in a cup (think jelly roll to get a picture). A small cup is $4, but it is worth the experience just watching your treat appear before your eyes. And I not a real fan of ice cream, but I gotta go back! It's a tiny building with perhaps seating for a dozen, and it's my understanding there can be quite a wait. After all, your treat is YOUR treat, made just for you.

Hard working, friendly team providing a lot of service! If you and friends just want a taste, you could order a large one to share. $5 for a small. $1 for a bottle of water. Choose icecream flavor and two add in flavors (from a variety of fruits, candy bars, cakes, cookies, nuts, including nutella...) they will work hard to swirl in for you plus add a sauce of your choice, whipped cream topping and a cherry! Dairy free version tastes great, too. Super friendly. Be prepared to wait 30 or more minutes if there is a line out if the door, as the creations take time, even though there are 4 artists working at a time to make them for you. Can talk with folks and witness the creations of the customers before you. You are also highly encouraged to tip like in a restaurant.

I really liked this ice cream. It's not too sweet and they have a lot of options of what you can get mixed in. As others have said it does take a little while, so I wouldn't recommend going at a busy time or in a large group.

I loved it!!!! Everything was excellent except I think $6 for a bowl of ice cream that is basically a blizzard from DQ is just a little bit expensive. As amazing as it was I probably would only go on a very rare occasion considering I could get a large Blizzard at DQ for under $5 bucks and feel just as satisfied. In the end it's just a DQ blizzard in rolls😁

This place is delish. We don't go a ton because Ankeny is a drive for us but if we are in the area we will stop out. Wait times used to be outrageous but we'd wait anyway lol however now they have added two new ice cream making tables which should shorten the wait. The staff is always friendly and willing to give suggestions if you aren't sure what you want. I would definitely recommend this place.

Drove from Waukee to try the swirl ice cream. Came right at noon when they opened. There was a big line already. Two guys working it took forever. Honestly there is no much flavor to the ice cream and the toppings they put in is very little. One strawberry and two raspberries in one small portion.... my second order was cheesecake with raspberry and they put in a small piece of cheesecake which they put the box of the cake out od the refrigerator directly on the plate/fridge where they are mixing the ice cream... he cut a piece and put ot back in the fridge. The toppings including the whipped cream are just regular toppings nothing special, store bought. The idea of the swirl ice cream is pretty cool but the fact that you wait so long in line, the price, and the flavor nothing special. While waiting in line and looking at the pre-made orders some od the orders didn’t really turn out as pretty and swirly as pictures show. We wanted to give it a try but in the future will probably stick with dairy queen.
