Picturesque icecream parlor near Columbus. Really good icecream! Creamy and not too sweet. We tried the 4-flavor sampler and asked to put all the bestselling ones. We loved each of them - forgive me if I didn't get the name right - graham variant, a cookies and cream variant, a strawberry with cheese variant and a chocolate with peanut butter variant. Must try and will definitely come back!

Handels ice cream made me feel like I was back in my home town on a summer day eating ice cream with my family. It has that sort of "town feel" that comes with affordable ice cream, good ice cream and outdoor seating. OMGoodness this place is to die for. We were heading home to Michigan and saw Handel's. Kids wanted ice cream so we stopped. What a great decision. The young man who helped us was very helpful and extremely nice. I got the buckeye ice cream AMAZING! Even though I'm from the mitten I love a good buckeye. We also got the brownie dough and blue moon. The brownie dough was so good. The blue moon was tasty but not what my daughter was expecting. Nonetheless the establishment and the employees were GREAT!!

This is my favorite ice cream place in Columbus. I especially love their seasonal flavors. Customer service is always great. This is sort of a stand style ice cream place so there's no indoor seating, the menu and everything are all outdoors. They also have non dairy frozen dog ice cream. The ice cream is soft serve! The only thing I would not recommend on their menu is the milkshakes.

I like their ice cream but the problem there’s no way to know which ice cream has what unless we speak to the people there or Read the name, get the ice cream and find it yourself. They are sweet people probably coz they eat their own ice creams. Clean and prompt response always. They are quick in packing as well. Price to Portion is perfect! Old school walk up ice cream shoppe with all the options. My daughter got a Hurricane and went nuts over it. There is outside seating. Everything is clean, the server was nice, so no complaints. If you like to try out different thins and ice cream is one of them, it's worth the visit for sure.

I just tried this place for the first time with my boyfriend and we loved it! We tried hurricanes (I think they’re called). I had a strawberry cheesecake one and he had the chocolate chip cookie dough. We haven’t tasted ice cream so wonderfully crafted outside of Ritter’s in Dayton, OH. It says it’s homemade since 1945 so they really know what they’re doing! We can’t wait to try other flavors!

I recently moved to the area and this is BY FAR the best ice cream I have ever tasted! When my family comes to visit from out of town, they have to stop here before leaving. The lemon bar is DELICIOUS!! Please bring lemon bar back as a flavor that’s available all year round! Prices are very reasonable and the portions are very generous. My dog even loves that there’s a doggy flavor made esp for her! Thank you Handels for the best ice cream around!

Super impressed by their selection of handpacked ice cream alone! In one trip I saw 5 or 6 that I can't wait to come back and try. Prices and portions were also very fair. Stopped to get ice cream before going to my brother's house. I got an oreo hurricane; which is similar to a blizzard. It was so delicious. The cashier was super nice and patient; the were so many flavors that I couldn't decide right away. They are practicing covid-19 social distancing. Handel's is a one of a kind place. Their ice cream is delicious and there are so many flavors. For hand dipped ice cream, they really have a unique and worth while product. They are also handling the CDC guidelines very well. They have lines drawn to show where to stand and where the line goes. They are protecting their employees by having a roped off section and everyone, including customers, are required to wear masks. We wished there was more seating since everyone had to eat in the back of our cars, but they also can get very crowded. Great job, Handel's.

Handel's is awesome. This was my first time here. The ice cream was smooth, rich and creamy. And the flavors I picked were not too sweet. And portions are large. We got medium waffle cones which was on the edge of what we could eat. But we managed to choke it down. :p Yeah, we had to stand 6 ft apart but everyone was very happy. I mean. Ice cream. The line moved quickly. And the servers were very nice and helpful. The the only bad thing was that I forgot to take a picture of the yumminess.

The handed ice cream is nearly soft enough to be considered soft serve. I would highly recommend and brownie sundae with vanilla ice cream. The brownies are warm and the hot fudge drizzle over top is thick and gooey. Employees are very nice ingredients for the smile. I would highly recommend stopping in here especially if you've never tried it. I try very hard to leave informative reviews, If this was helpful please let me know by giving me a thumbs up

I can't get enough of this place. I try to stay away but it never works out. The staff are always friendly. I highly recommend the strawberry cheesecake chunk. Tell them you want it as a Hurricane, their version of the Blizzard, since it isn't listed as a normal Hurricane flavor. So so good!

Hands down the best ice cream in Columbus! I'm typically an 'eat the same thing every time' kind of a person but here I feel free to try new things and they are ALWAYS delicious! My favorites are Vanilla with Oreo, Graham Central Station, and Banana Cream Pie yummmm. It doesn't matter how long the line is, we will wait in it. Let it be known though that their portions are HUGE. I always order a single and it's three towering scoops. Enjoy!

Handles ice cream was one of my very favorite places to visit when my now husband lived in Indianapolis. So when we ended up in Columbus for a special event a few weeks ago and I realized there was one here, we just had to go! It was about 830 on a Thursday evening in July and there was a short line. With multiple windows open, it probably took about almost 10 minutes before it was our turn to order. Hubby and I both opted for the four scoops sampler, because why wouldn’t we? LOL! I went with Graham central station, chocolate peanut butter brownie, spouse like a house and some salted caramel something. Graham central station is my absolute favorite and one of the flavors I always get. Chocolate peanut butter brownie is one I revisit quite often as well. Spouse like a house was one I’d forgotten. My husband remembered that it was the flavor my sister suggested when she recommended Campbell’s way back in the day. And the caramel one was the suggestion of the person taking our order. I was very pleased with everything! Their ice cream is so creamy and extra flavorful! I really wish we have one in Dayton or Cincinnati.

The ice cream here is amazing. Never had a bad dish/cone/shake/etc. Small place only has a walk up window and some benches. Great for sunny days. If it's wet or raining better get it to go. There is some cover in front of the window, but no overhead cover to eat if there is inclement weather. Prices are good to. You won't spend too much for ice cream and the quality is outstanding.

One of the best ice cream places in Columbus, Ohio if not the very best. There are just so many home-made ice cream flavors to choose from. The flavors are all so good too. The place gets crowded at times but definitely worth the wait. One thing I wish they had is a washing station or restroom. That is the only thing it lacks is a place to wash your hands after all those delicious flavors dripped all over you. Definitely a place to visit even if you're just passing through the area. Overall a great place for young and old, the people are wonderful here. Just wonderful atmosphere and delicious flavors. Have been around since 1940's and probably will be around so much longer. A must try for ice cream lovers.

Aways friendly staff and you get what you would expect (probably even more) with a one scoop cone or cup. No tiny cookie cookie dough scoop size here and it doesn't cost the same as a pint of haagen dazs. Raspberry chocolate chunk has been my go to since they opened but their new Oreo Mint is making my decision a bit more challenging now. If you haven't tried it it's worth the trip!

Amazing quality ice cream! I first tried it in Canton, Ohio and was delighted to find a location close to home. Staff is super friendly and always offer to let you try flavors before buying. They're also immensely patient and describe the flavors to costumers with great detail. My go to is the chocolate covered strawberry hurricane (made with fresh strawberries), but honestly any of the hurricanes are spectacular.

Their hurricanes are great and every time I've gone, I always ended up getting the same thing. The best part is they don't mind mixing it up a little bit and making a variation of something that might not be on the menu: instead of a strawberry cheesecake, they made me a caramel cheesecake with no questions asked. Handel's has the best selection of ice cream and sorbet flavors in our area. Their prices are reasonable for freshly made ice cream. I get hot fudge sundaes with my own choice of ice cream depending on my mood and they're always willing to do specialty sundaes when you ask. You can also get pints of any of the flavors so you don't have to eat it right there. I'm very glad they opened again after being closed for awhile.

There are some fantastic ice cream shops in Columbus, and Handel's is one of the best freshly made ice creams you can find. Their facilities are extremely clean and they use high quality, fresh ingredients. The cost is comparable to other higher quality ice cream shops, so if you splurge once in a while, this is the place to go.

The BEST ice cream in town, made fresh on site. The key lime pie ice cream is majorly addictive. I highly recommend checking out their flavor selection on their website before going, just so you have an idea of what you want. Their "small" waffle cone is 3 generous scoops. Amazing ice cream and birthday cakes. Worth the trip. A few benches outside to sit, the window is walk up. We often purchase and sit outside or eat our ice cream on the way home. They have a monster shake that truly lives up to it's name. We live within 2 miles of a Graeter's but my kids prefer Handel's. Portions are generous, prices are reasonable. Totally worth a 20 minute drive for us.

When it comes to ice cream, Handel's has (forgive the pun) a real handle on things. They have an amazing array of flavours and their pineapple sherbet is second to none. Handel's also has the best vanilla ice cream in the city. Everyone in Columbus raves about Jeni's, but no one makes ice cream worth $15 a pint. So just pay the $4.65 that Handel's charges, get better ice cream for it, and be happy. And this location is the best because they have a great park for kids to play in right behind them.

I'm a Youngstown native, I grew up near the original Market Street location. The Columbus locations seem to be a little more variable on quality than the ones in the Youngstown area. If you go when ice cream demand is high, everything's good. Because they mix in the additions to the ice cream base before putting it out to serve, you get a less wonderful scoop if it's been moving slow. My personal favorite is their signature, chocate pecan. When it's fresh, the chocolate ice cream is smooth and creamy while the pecans still have a healthy crunch. It's still some of the best ice cream I've had, and the prices are better than Jeni's and Graters.

There was supposed to be "line" that an employee told us to get into after we had been standing 4th at a line at a window but it was more like a mob. No one knew where it started or ended. We love Handel's, and this location is the best! The service is friendly and quick, and we haven't found a flavor we don't like, and we've tried most of the ice creams. Try the four scoop sampler; it's always a great choice.

I visited right after a noon Buckeye game so I can't comment on normal service times. Very expansive menu with a frozen treat for everyone I can think of. Even though it took a bit longer with a ton of people in line, the staff was still super friendly and quick to get the order out once the window was reached. SO's review: Oh that was delicious (coffee chocolate chip cone) Myself: Ordered myself a large hurricane with Reese's cups and uhh.. whew buddy. Five scoops of ice cream mixed with five scoops of Reese's. Five scoops of Reese's. Rather than going to the store to buy a bag of Reese's, I shall come to Handel's to get my fix of peanut buttery chocolate. I had to toss it after making it about halfway through because I was pretty sure I had eaten the equivalent of six Reese cups. As much as I love 'em - it was just a bit much. I'll ask our friends at Handel's to go light on the Reese cups and see how it goes next time.

This place is probably the best ice cream joint Columbus has to offer. I’ve had Jenis, Graeters, Coldstone and others. None of them compare. I love the chocolate peanut butter ripple. So perfect. The only bad thing I can say about this place is that there is only two of them in the Columbus area and once you’ve tried it you won’t want to go anywhere else. Ever.
