Good flavors, good service. We usually go for the soft serve and the peanut butter sundae. Besides the ice cream, milkshakes and things you might imagine they also sell cakes, milk, cream, yogurt and bacon. Note it is usually more crowded when there is a game at Wrigley Field.

Best flavor is blueberry pie. Also the smoothies are great if you add the frozen yogurt in them. They can get busy in the summer time so don’t forget to order online to avoid a long wait.

The ice cream is good, but the service could have been better. Bought something out of the cooler and just a plain chocolate cone. There was nobody in front of us but it seemed to be taking forever to get the cone. After about 10 minutes we had to ask what was up. The four people working sort of shrugged and asked each other. One of them found the ticket and made the cone (they misplaced it or something? I'm not really sure.) So yeah, my experience might be the odd one out. I would give them another shot, but I was not impressed this time around.

Great place to relax and enjoy some ice cream. Service could use some improvements, but the ice cream is great. The store was very clean, and the chocolate milk shakes are my absolute favorite. Extra cookies cost extra, but so worth it.

Nice little Oberweis store tucked away from the hustle-bustle of Belmont. Great selection of flavors too - you probably won't find all of them in grocery stores. The ice cream is fairly sweet- we got one of the fruity flavors and ended up dumping it. The soft serve, on the other hand, was great.

This store has some friendly employees! Karen is very perky and upbeat employee. The store manager, DeAngela, greets all the customers from what I observed while waiting in line to order my ice cream. I LOVE, LOVE this Ice Cream!! They make their own. They carry many flavors 23 in quarts... In pints they carry 14 flavors... I'm still in their birthday club and I got 1 FREE Scoop of ice cream. But I also bought 1 quart, of a flavor that I want to try. This time I tried their Black Cherry. 😲 OMG, this is a great, sweet and creamy many pieces of fresh dark cherries in every bite. This is what I choose as my Birthday treat. Last year I ended up getting Espresso Caramel Chip in a quart and a shake in the same flavor and 1 FREE Scoop of Cookies-n-Cream. I have been a fan of this company since they were in Aurora, IL. This is the best ice cream in my eyes. In the Chicagoland. Be sure to sign up for the Birthday Rewards. I have. This is a nice place to sit inside or outside enjoying ice cream. They have tables to play board games &The CHECKER BOARD is painted on the tables to play Checkers.

This is an edit to my previous review- I had some issues with not getting comped for my returned bottles but the manager of the store, Adam, got back to me immediately and helped resolve the problem and was very nice/helpful. As for the product, it is very good quality delicious milk and almost zero waste with the glass bottles. The main thing for our family was a need to cut back on plastic waste and Oberweis is the only company offering local milk in the old fashioned glass bottles. In addition, they have probably the best malts in the entire city. The chocolate malt especially is our favorite. My only advice is to make sure you directly talk to an employee and make sure you get your cash before setting you bottle-returns down by the door because otherwise there's a good chance whoever is working there won't go out of their way to give you your money back.

I got birthday cake ice cream and it was fairly average. The atmosphere of this location is very cute, though. You can play chess on the tables and the ice cream is served in cute parfait glasses. The management, however, was rude. They were understaffed, which is fine. I understand it happens, and it seems all the other customers were patient and waiting. The manager came out and was very sassy in telling the customers to not yell at her employees. Nobody was yelling or upset so I found her behavior off-putting. Regardless, the experience is still pleasant, but there are likely better places to get ice cream.

Do I even need to review this place? The ice cream here is fantastic. The staff is excellent at this location. I’m sure they deal with a ton of BS. I often find myself here after 10pm, because nothing else is open! My favorite flavor is cookie dough, but honestly most are excellent. Pro-tip: I recommend the kids scoop because they give you sooo much! Come here!!

Oberweis Ice Cream has always been a favorite of my family's. But all of their dairy products are amazing. And their recycling program is fantastic. Also, as someone with a nut allergy, I'm always wary about ice cream shops. But they will clean the blender, scoop and more for you if you request it. Even open a new container for you. I appreciate someplace that will go above and beyond for their customers.

Great quality ice cream! We had stopped by the day after thanksgiving as the family was all craving ice cream. I did a single mint chip on a cone. While I loved the creamy, milky consistency throughout I''ll say it wasn't as minty as a Baskin Robbins mint chip that I do love. My wife tried a traditional sundae which she enjoyed. You can't but help taste the difference in the quality of ingredients used. We ended up taking home some quarts to go, and since it was black friday we scored them for 2 for 1 deal. Overall, I'd say it definitely feels like a good old fashioned ice cream shop and great to bring the kids along. I'm sure this place is crowded in the summer time. 'Til next time!

This is the real deal in Chicago as far as ice cream goes. Creamy, rich and flavorful. Why are they always busy..excellent value and price, $6 for a small shake, which in reality is humongous. They don't compromise on taste. It's caloric but worth it on special occasions.

The ice cream is fantastic, as with any Oberweis, however we waited over 30 minutes for one ice cream. It was not overly full, there were quite a few people inside waiting though. I have waited much less in much more crowded ice cream shoppes. If you don't mind waiting definitely go.

Overall: Great ice cream and creations, Oberweis is great for kids and adults alike. The good: Great tasting ice cream and other treats. Not the best, but pretty dang good. Plenty of options to choose from. There are cases to browse and take stuff home (milk, cakes, pints, etc.). Chess and board games to play with. The bad: The times I've been, the place is always messy and not as clean as it should be. The staff has been, while efficient, unfriendly. Atmosphere: 710 Service: 7/10 Food: 9/10

They make and serve very good ice cream - you will not be disappointed in that aspect. But the place itself looked tired and not well cared for. The tables were sticky and needed to be wiped. The chairs look worn. The floor could have used a sweep and a mop. Maybe we caught them at a bad time after a huge rush, but 2 stars for the sitting area.

Friendly and they have a book that specifies which ice cream is not made with gluten. I don't know if the factory has separate areas to make gluten free ice cream. So cross contamination may be a possibility.

It's so great to find locally-made, real ice cream in a city, amidst the frozen yogurt and gelato craze. They have some unique flavors of hard ice cream, but my favorite is the soft serve mixed with cookie dough. The cookie dough pieces are soft and flavorful, and they use a heavy hand when adding them, which is often not the case at other places. Friendly staff, too!

Great place with great ice cream selection. Usually I buy the pre packaged pints here and the bottles of fruit juice because of the great price point. I dropped a couple stars because on this particular visit I was charged $11 and some change for a large peanut butter shake. I have never paid such a high rice for a single shake here before, or anywhere else for that matter. Looking at the receipt I noticed I was charged for each individual item that went into my shake. I was also up charged $1.59 to replace the peanut butter ice cream with just plain peanut butter. Wont order ice cream from here ever again at that price. The shake wasnt even all that great either. They should re evaluate their prices and how they charge for items.

I waited a few months to try Oberweis, and I'm upset that I waited so long! Oberweis is a bit intimidating upon walking it with its harsh fluorescent lights and wide variety of chilled dairy items in the coolers to your right, but upon walking up to the counter and taking in their "fountain menu" many delicious options present themselves to you. For instance, they have their take on the "DQ blizzard" with many mix-in options, as well as sundaes and the traditional cone or scoop of ice cream. The fiance and I stuck to just a scoop of ice cream in a waffle cone, both of which were towering HUGE scoops which we happily complained about. The staff was young but prompt when we visited on a Thursday night. I was surprised it wasn't more busy given that it was in the middle of summer.

I'm not originally from Chicago or any of the surrounding suburbs, but when I discovered Oberweis while visiting a friend in Aurora, I haven't been to any other ice cream place since. The fresh, natural taste from the cream that they use and perfect combination of sugars and flavors that don't overwhelm is really nice. I was sad to find out that they weren't really around the city and as soon as I found out they opened up locations in the city, I had to make a point to visit and the Sheffield location is just as good as all the rest!

So far this Oberweis location next to the Skokie location was very attentive on feedback I give. I was NOT impressed for the Oberweis in the Gurnee, IL location that I address to the manager herein which he responded by giving a free complimentary order when I came in. I had given an average review on their website before getting a call from the local manager here and I now give them 4 stars for their concern. I would come here too when I have time and feel like eating Oberweis again. Otherwise good job in keeping up satisfying customers who love your ice cream which is one of the best.

Great spot for I've cream - very creamy. Milk is very expensive but also very good, very creamy as well. You can take the glass bottles back to Mariano's and get like a dollar back, which helps lower the cost.
