Reviews of Dancing Dog Ice Cream

Made a planned pit stop within Charleston, WV for ice cream and this business came up. No regrets as when we walked in, the staff were very kind in getting our order right and also providing excellent food handling care.
Small business, but definitely would not undermine it as they offer different sizes of ice cream and flavors alongside coffee and soft drinks.

I am so happy that Dancing Dog Ice cream is right beside Back Stage and Shop 218. I love going into all those shops. Dancing Dog has fresh flowers on the table and it’s logo of a dancing dog fills my heart with joy.

The employees were super friendly and professional. Food was great! I had the mango smoothie...delicious! Definitely would recommend checking this gem out.

Excellent experience. Maybe the best ice cream around. Service and prices are great. Did not know they served food as well. Great looking menu with good prices on it. Tired of being gouged by so many places. Will be back to try more things. People come out and support this place!

First visit today during lunch break. Had the Classic Smash burger with seasoned crinkle cut fries, which were amazing!!! Great prices, friendly staff and quick service! Highly recommend!!

Ice cream was SO GOOD! Tried the lemon chiffon and the salted caramel and both were *chef’s kiss*

It could be that it was exactly what I was craving today but the smashed burger was not just the best smash burger I've had but may have been the best burger, period, that I've had that wasn't by my own hand. I also had the hand cut fries. A lot of places will just phone it in one the fries when hot food isn't their main focus. Not here. The fries were perfect - crisp outside, fluffy inside, salted just enough. Service was very friendly, too. I'll be back!

When I heard that there was a new ice cream parlor conveniently located in the Elk City area of Charleston I was excited to try it and just a little jealous that my niece got there first!
So on this beautiful Sunday afternoon my 16 yr. old grandchild and I took off, adventuring to this new, to us, ice cream parlor. Just about three minutes off the interstate we found free Sunday parking just beyond the storefront. I really liked they had a folding chalkboard on the front of the sidewalk inviting us in & letting us know they were open & a very sweet and clean ice cream table & chairs out front for those who wish to enjoy the warm afternoon & the excellent view.
Upon entering I was very pleased at the well executed renovation of this charming old building. It was light, bright, very clean & pleasing to the eye with it’s colorful table tops and pale blue painted embossed metal high ceiling. There was plenty of seating throughout and we loved the 50s style chrome and round cushy pleather topped stools at the wide ledged counter Overseeing the street.
I knew from speaking with the owner in an earlier conversation elsewhere that all of the ice cream was made right there on premises and everything that went into it was made there & made by hand. I was especially anxious to try the salted caramel ice cream as I was had been told that the caramel was made there, as well. So, I was very glad to see it on the special menu as well as butter pecan ice cream, snickerdoodle ice cream & a sugar cookie ice cream - on the regular menu were the normal choices with a brownie brittle and a creamy lemon ice cream a raspberry lemon ice cream and a few others I just can’t remember the name of is I am writing this from hindsight once I got home.
After seeing the extended menu of various ice creams I decided on a butter pecan ice cream, the creamy lemon ice cream & the salted caramel ice cream. My grandchild chose the brownie brittle ice cream & the snickerdoodle ice cream. We had ours in a dish/bowl, however, they did have a display of a variety of cones. We took our dishes of ice cream & spoons (we did get extra spoon so we could taste each other’s ice cream) to the 50 style stools and the window with a view of the gigantic, unmistakable Charly Jupiter Hamilton painting spanning the side of a building with an active view of Sunday bicyclers & dog walkers. On hand were a few extra napkins because I knew this was going to be a delicious adventure into icecreamdom!
And let me say how comfortable I felt eating ice cream that had been made right there on the spot because the place was so spick and span sparkling clean & I really looked &couldn’t find anything with a drop of dust or out of place at all!
And 0h, what a difference there is in fresh ice cream that hasn’t been sitting in 10 gallon pre-packed cartons, sitting in the open air and Lord knows how long has it been since it had been made and stored!
This ice cream was so Smooth, so Fresh so Flavorful & Delicious that if I were the sort to shout “hallelujah” I would’ve! But, I’m not, so I’ll just tell you it was so supreme! The better pecan had lots of pecans in it & just a lovely color & smooth flavor, the salted caramel ice cream had sweet morsels of caramel in it & I believe they may have been chocolate coated -whatever it was it was a fantastic blend & again just so smooth creamy & hard packed so it didn’t melt quickly but smooth smooth smooth. The creamy lemon was like an angelic soul cleanser! It just made your mouth wanna open up and sing”Ooh La La!”
My grandchild’s choices of brownie brittle ice cream & snickerdoodle ice cream were well-founded, Both were really delicious and I was surprised that I liked the snickerdoodle so well! We both tried all of Five of the choices we made & it was really difficult to choose a favorite out of them because they were all so good, so we just rated them on a one to five scale, one being our very favorite!
One – salted caramel,Two – creamy lemon,
Three – Butter pecan,Four- Snickerdoodle
Five- Brownie Brittle.
We’ll Go Again Soon!
