My friends like their ice-cream a lot. This place has a walk-in and drive thru. There are outdoor seats available. Beware the melted ice cream on the seats and on the table. Available parking on the premises. This store seems very popular and I can understand why! Check it out!

Jarling's may have a better overall, custard selection. But that Lemon Custard will never top Krekles Lemon Custard. Go to Decatur,IL get a double burger and a lemon cone with or without sprinkles and tell me I'm lying. Jarling's is still 5 stars, hands down, zero hate. Absolutely love this place.

What more can another 5 star review say that the other hundreds haven't already? Let me put it this way - the only downside to this place is that you know it's open and you want to go every night. My wallet and my bathroom scale don't appreciate that, but my tastebuds and stomach sure do!

Not bad ice cream at all. I fashion myself, at the expense of my belly, to be an ice cream specialist. While I would say this ice cream is the best, I do place this ice cream at the top of my must visit when in town ice creams. The seating is outside and the business was well staffed. They moved through the orders quickly.

I was a little disappointed in the outside appearance of and around the building; trash laying around, custard streaks down the glass on the door and window and all over the outside of the trash can, etc.

They've improved the drive-thru experience significantly in the last few years, and their operations seem fairly streamlined. The place always seems immaculate and bright. The staff are generally friendly and polite, almost reminds me of an ice cream parlor from a generation or two ago, as is portrayed in the movies. I would go on a romantic date there, grab some treats, then go walk at the nearby park. Or just hang out with some of my friends and chill on the picnic tables outside. I feel though that the custard/ice cream is sightly overpriced despite it being delicious.

First visit, what a treat! Fudge sauce and butterscotch are made in house,the custard is creamy and delicious. If you are going through the drive through, look at the menu beforehand, there is so much to choose from, it can be overwhelming. Rest assured whatever you choose will be great, don't miss it!

Definitely a cool local business to check out if you're visiting Champaign. Visited for the first time recently and wasn't too impressed by the custard itself, but the old school ice cream stand aesthetic was nice. Love visiting local businesses like this. Line was pretty long and the drive-thru window takes away from the people who actually want to sit outside and enjoy some custard. Not bad, but not perfect.

Yesterday, around 730p we went out for ice cream. The line inside was outside. The drive through had 8-9 cars ahead of us. We waited in car 20 mins. It was worth the wait. Love it. We had a tortoise with almonds and a Berry Delightful parfait. Both were excellent.

This place is located right off the university and has some of the best ice cream/custard in town! I definitely recommend trying the lemon flavored custard! IT IS DELICIOUS! Only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5, is they are VERY POPULAR so there is usually a wait during peak times ( after work/school).

This restaurant is one of the best ice cream places around town. Ive tried many different menus here, but I especially recommend the snowtorm and the lemon custard icecream. The strong lighting coming off the exterior gives a great outdoor experience through the night time as well. A big thumbs-up overall.

Pros: Best ice cream and frozen custard around hands down. Also decently priced. Very fair for an ice cream parlor considering their quality and options. High energy friendly staff. Cons: parking lot too small for business, have passed on by many times when intending to go becsuse drive thru line was backed up to main road. Also, they have messed up my order several times including a bday cake once (we ate it anyway and rolled with it because the mistake was also something we all liked), mistaken orders are more frequent than i feel they should be for a place of this nature. Bright side, it evens out most of the time because everything is super good from there. Except when you order and pay for a large and get a small. Thats no fun. Overall, definitely worth repeat visits.

Smell good as soon as you drive by. This is a visit spot if you happen to be in CU. It is very close to the stadium, so it's a good dessert after a game. Well, the shop woll get very crowded in the summer, especially in the afternoon. They have drive through if you don't wanna be standing in a line. You will be in a line anyway, but driving 😄 As the name, they are specialized in custard ice cream. There are so many flavors, and the most common one is lemon, chocolate, and strawberry. At least for me, those are. You should consider a mix of flavors. Well, if you are too much in love for strawberry 🍓, go for it. No judging. Price is reasonable for a cup of ice cream. The space is small, no place to sit inside. There are some benches in front, but limited. There are like six of them. I usually drive through, then take a walk in the park nearby, or on campus. Very good choice for a summer walk and talk with some friends or your love ones.

Some great things about Jarling's: Great tasting servings with so many options. Ability to get a single scoop (that many ice-cream shops don't offer any more). Very soft frozen yogurt that is lighter than regular ice-cream.

The best ice cream in UC, and it's very good. Jarlings is not a scoop shop, choose one of the few great flavors and get some toppings. Their specialty is the fudge, if you don't get it you're missing out. This isn't in the same league as the costal titans of Salt & Straw or Van Leewen, but a must try if you're in the area.

Always delicious. Great custards, the lemon is my favorite. Snowstorms are awesome with a huge range of options that can be mixed and made with any flavor custard they have on request. The sleets are a great non dairy option and they even have green river as a flavor which I almost never see anywhere. This place has been as local favorite for decades and every visit is a reminder of why it's awesome. They recently reordered how they take the lines for ordering and pick up and it seems more streamlined so that's great too!

Jarling's is a local ice cream gem! They offer a huge assortment of frozen custard, as well as ice cream staples like a banana split or sundae. I had a banana split and my partner had chocolate in a large waffle cone. Some words about our choices - you definitely get your money's worth and a little extra! They were very generous in their servings and the staff are just as sweet as the products Jarling's sells. So why is this a 4 star review and not a 5 star review? If you are craving ice cream on a weekday or weekend evening (like we were), you will be waiting for a *long* while. Additional word of caution: you *will* be cut in line. Stand your ground and get your ice cream - it will be well worth the wait!

Jarling's has won "Best Ice Cream in Illinois" several times for a reason! The cold fudge sundae is a staple and one time they had cappuccino as their flavor of the week - I still think about it sometimes! Unfortunately, I moved out of the area and they have ruined ice cream/frozen custard for me because everywhere I go I just think "it's okay but it's not as good as Jarlings."

Voted best dessert in the Big Ten, this place is a local favorite. Outdoor, festival-style seating makes for a fun social experience when the weather’s nice. It’s always crowded, but the crew works fast. Their snowstorms are their version of a “custard concrete” with lots of delicious mix-ins & several flavors of custard “base” to choose from. My favorite here is the Black & White, a marshmallow-cold fudge sundae with vanilla custard. The cold fudge is super thick &/goes so well with the creaminess of the custard.

Our first experience here. The menu seems to be entirely too convoluted for an ice cream shop. The woman behind the counter was less than helpful, throwing more options than necessary for someone who had never been there. I told her I'd like something small, simple, and popular. She proceeded to ask me 7 different questions and gave me countless options to taste... too complicated. Just stop, already! What I ended up with was good, I guess. But it doesn't stand out from any other ice cream place, in my mind.

Pretty good prices for the amount you get. Really good custard. Definitely will be returning for more. There is no indoor seating. You order inside and eat outside on picnic tables. I got a double scoop strawberry custard in a waffle cone. It was really good but really large. Also you need to eat fast because the waffle cone is homemade so the custard leaks through as you eat.

Honestly one of the best custards I've ever had. I really like strawberry shakes and the ones here have made it to my top 3 of all time. There are many choices you chose from and it's all reasonably prices. Portion sizes are slightly on the smaller side in my opinion, but quality is top notch

The staff is friendly and attentive, and often times, the long line moves along well enough. But candidly, I don't really see what the fuss is all about. I get the appeal of the "Local Ice Cream Shop", but when you compare this to a Haagen-Dazs or an Emack and Bolio's, it's just not as good. 5 star entity, 3 star custard, 4 star review.

Absolutely love the deluxe brownie sundae, highly recommend it if you don't know what to get. I like that I can customize it so much. I would definitely recommend giving this place a try if you like custard/ice cream. My fiancé and I love going here as a little treat once in a while. For Pokemon Go players: there's a gym or two.

4 stars but may update to 5 once I've been there more than once. But no complaints thus far. They have a wide selection of treats from floats to shakes to snowstorms (my assumption is those are similar to DQ's. Blizzards) and of course they're custard for regular scoops. They also have sundaes too. We got the regular custard on our first try and got them in the waffle baskets which look to be made onsite. The custard is nice and smooth and not too dense. Flavor balance is really good, not overpowering. Service was friendly and the prices are reasonable. Will definitely come back to try other items on the menu. Definitely recommend as this place was recommended to us.

Our order was made faster than the customer before us. I had the banana split which was verh yummy. I like that they a weekly special flavor. This weeks was cappuccino, I don't like coffee, so I didn't try it. Social distancing and mask guidelines were in place.

3 of us went and all of us got snowstorms. I think junior size is good for after meal dessert, or regular for afternoon snack lol 1. Apple cobbler - would recommend. I don’t usually like fruity ice cream, but this was good. It got cobbler crunchy pieces in it that makes it a good balance to ice cream 2. Caramel and cookie dough - Not recommend. I don’t think they have this on the menu, but you can add toppings in it. I could not taste caramel AT ALL. That was disappointing. 3. Brownie - would recommend. It looks more like cookies n’ cream when it was all made, but you get bits of brownie in every bite!

So if you want to taste the best custard in your life, go there. Many flavors to select from. I personally recommend the snowstorms. My personal favorite is to get a blueberry cobbler and a peanut butter snowstorm and eat them both. Tastes like a PBJ. You know a place is good based on the crowd and the repeat business.

Their toppings selection is great. They have something for everyone. They also have several flavors of custard now. The options are almost overwhelming. The turtle sundae is great. The cold fudge and butterscotch/caramel are decadent. Having Hessel Park right across the street is perfect to walk off the calories.

Delicious. I like to get custard with cold fudge but everything they have seems to be good. Rumor is that Tom Hanks likes to frequent Jarling's when he visits his brother who's a professor at the University. Don't be intimidated if there is a line, it moves very quickly. There's also a drive thru if you don't want to get out of your car. If you do want to eat at the restaurant, they have some seats inside as well as some picnic tables outside.

Jarling's is a Champaign area classic. I tell everyone who comes to visit to try it. The custard is always on point. My favorite is the cold-fudge sundae. One time though, the cold fudge was not quite right: it was runnier than usual, but an employee told me it might have been out of the freezer too long. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and I'll try it again the next time I go. On hot summer weekends, expect a line, sometimes up to a 15 minute wait. But it's soo worth it! There are a few seats inside, but not many. No public restrooms either that I could see. There are benches along the side of the building and picnic tables out front. EDIT: Tried the cold fudge again and it was perfect. That one time it was runny must have been a fluke.

They have a good choice of toppings to go on their sundaes and snowstorms like cookie dough, mango, and chocolate syrup (those are only a couple of items out of the 15+ toppings available). They also serve phosphates which I have yet to try. The wait can be longer in the summer evenings but they have outdoor benches where you can sit while you eat

Jarlings is a wonderful custard joint that can be quite the popular place to go for a great cup of delicious goodness and smiles. They have tons of flavors and have hired on a lot more staff members to help the line move more quickly. It can be crowded at times, but it's worth every minute.

There's not much I can say about Jarling's that a thousand people haven't already posted. But anything good that you've read is all true. Lemon custard. Eat a lot of it. It is absurdly delicious. But so is everything they serve. Just saying, lemon is maybe the best thing ever.

Service was fast and efficient. Bathrooms in poor shape: womebs room out of order and men's room out of soap. We were there 45 minutes on a busy Saturday night abdvsaw no employees check or clean restrooms.

I went to the University of Illinois for my engineering degree, and Jarling's ruined me for the rest of my life on custard. You won't find better custard anywhere, it's obscenely and unfairly good here. I live in Utah now, and when I brought my boyfriend to Champaign on a vacation in June we walked several miles out of our way to come to Jarling's, and then I ruined him too. Sorry love! Jarling's, if you feel like opening a location in Utah, I would love you long time. As an extra note, apparently a while ago Jarling's was bought from the original owners by a bunch of investors from the UofI (alumni, staff, sports players, etc). I was concerned when I heard about this, usually investors will bastardize a good thing to make more money. But I can confirm these people are true fans of Jarling's and have preserved its legacy perfectly. What a relief! Thanks guys for keeping Jarling's just as amazing as I remembered it!
