Loved that we could get 3 flavors even in a small cup. So the two of us split two smalls, and were able to try all 6 flavors they had. They all blew me away, except the peanut butter cup which I merely thought was good. The dark chocolate sorbet was ridiculously good and dark chocolatey, we were shocked it was a sorbet. Greek yogurt crunch was maybe my next favorite, but really, they were all excellent. The place is tiny but there's outdoor seating

This is an ice cream parlor. Many young people love their ice cream. Many flavors to choose from. Also clearly identifying gluten, vegan, nuts, egg for your preferences. We ordered Coffee, Strawberry, and peanuts butter . Rich flavored but not too creamy.... Service was good...

We hired Shy Guy to cater our wedding and it was one of the best choices we made. My husband and I studied abroad in Italy and knew that we wanted to incorporate gelato into our wedding - and Paul was all for it! He was great with communication and came and scooped for 2 hours at our wedding basically non-stop...it was a huge hit! His gelato truly rivals the best we had in Italy and it was such a unique experience for our guests, and truly made our wedding special. We live 1.5 hours away from his shop in Burlington but we'll make trips every few weeks to get pints to bring home because it is just THAT good!

We have long been shy guy fans, but we hired them for our wedding welcome party and as always they brought the best gelato and our guests were raving about how good it was. Always worth stopping in for a cup, but even more fun to have them for your event!

Phenomenal gelato! I love that they do small batch flavors that change on a daily basis. Some of my favorite flavors are hazelnut, black forest cake and peanut butter crunch. I also love that they now have a frequent buyer punch card (get a free small with every 9 purchases).

To say shy guy gelato is the best gelato in Vermont would not be an understatement, but they also have the best sorbet. Creamy, rich, flavorful, exciting. Flavors change daily to keep it interesting. They let you have more than one flavor in your cone/cup if you’re into that. The only thing I have ever been disappointed with in regards to this place is that they are not open more. But these guys deserve a rest. My favorite treat spot.

Best gelato ever!!!! The vegan dark chocolate sorbet is my obsession!! My only qualm is I wish they wouldn’t charge $1.50 for a cone. I always get a cone, because it’s the most eco-friendly way to consume ice cream, but I’ve never had to pay that price for one. And the bowls / spoons are not compostable :(

Not sure what is up with people, but when we got to the Shy Guy Gelato store, there was a queue of about 15 people winding from the window counter of the store to the sidewalk. This was at 15 mins before their closing time on a Wednesday. We went in with high hopes looking at the reviews and of course the long line of Gelato lovers. Sadly, our hopes and expectations were met. The Gelato itself was meh. The quality was not even close to a standard run of the mill Ben and Jerry's ice cream. The quantity was less compared to the price. It think it is just an over hyped place. You can find lots of way better ice cream places in Vermont.

Delicious gelato with creative flavors. I tried Chocolate Cherry Armena, Thai Coffee, and Pistachio and I can't tell you which one I liked the most. The prices are reasonable (and even if they weren't, this gelato would absolutely be worth it). Paul, the gelato maker, is a sweet and genuine guy to talk to. I live several hours away, but I will certainly be making the trip back for Shy Guys!

Super creamy, super flavorful, and super adorable. Vermont's more of a soft serve - sorry, a 'creemee' - state, which makes spots like Shy Guy that much more special. There's a limited rotating menu so you might have to branch out and try a new flavor sometimes but it's worth it.

BEST GELATO EVER!!! Got me saying "Ben & Jerry WHO"! The owner, Paul, is so passionate about his business and delivers the BEST customer service I have quite literally ever experienced. He truly believes in his product and once you taste it - it makes complete sense. Long story short, I made a not-so-nice comment about the small off-season menu, not realizing that I was in earshot of the staff inside. Paul responded with such kindness and warmth - which I didn't deserve AT ALL. He challenged me to try a pint on him, so I could see that his product was worth the money. It was AMAZING!!! I live out of state, but know that I will be stopping at this shop EVERY time I am in Vermont from now on. It is that good!!!!

If you have never been to this place, I highly recommend it. As a local guide, I can honestly and confidently say that this place has the best fresh gelato I have ever had! You can follow them on Instagram to see their daily fresh and creative flavors. Some of my favorite flavors are: Honey Pistachio, Nectarine, Cherry Amaretto, Strawberry Pistachio, and Malt Chocolate. I may be a little off with the names. This place will not be a waste of your time, I promise :)

I came by here last weekend. The man running the shop knows his flavors, suggesting a tasty plum + sweet cream. He was also knowledgeable on the seasonality of berries, that's all I need to know. I'll be sure to stop by frequently!

Oh, yeah! This is an amazing flavor experience. Rich and creamy, without the cream. You will not be disappointed. And wonderful flavors from deep dark chocolate (my favorite, so far) to cucumber! And new flavors everyday. Plus the people there are so nice. This is quality of life. Oh, and Shy Guy Gelato is now located at the corner of Howard St. and St. Paul St. - blue and white storefront.

The best local cold treat you can get. Although more expensive than your average creemie, this local owned gelato spot is inspired by the real deal from Italy, where the owner visits family every year. The ingredients are all fresh, causing their flavors to rotate often. I reccomend "fior di latte" (a sweet cream flavor) and their avocado, as well as any of their sorbets. There are ALWAYS gluten free and dairy free options, check them out on Instagram for daily flavors and pints.

Having eaten Gelato all across the US and most of western Europe, there was only one other gelateria that came close to the level of quality as Shy Guy. That was in Rome, and as delicious as their classic offerings were, Paul's is equal, and he offers more adventurous flavors. The cider donught is perhaps the best dessert I've ever had in my life.

Tonight was our second visit. Last time I had avocado, horchata, and strawberry. Tonight I had horchata and lemon (it had cilantro, but I can't remember the flavor.). It was just incredible. The flavors are perfectly mixed, the texture is creamy, and the staff is always friendly. While scooping, we had a great chat, and flavor combos were suggested. I was also really impressed to see that they compost the used wooden spoons, rather than pitch them. If you like local, sustainable, high quality gelato, this is the place! Can't wait to come back to Burlington for more!

Delicious local made gelato. Great on a hot day or grab a pint to treat your coworkers. Prices are a bit higher than you might expect but the staff is very pleasant to work with. Treat yourself.

Authentic, AMAZING quality gelato with the most creative flavors. I love that the quality and consistency of this gelato is what you'd expect to find on the streets of Italy, while the flavors are the creative inspirations you'd find at the Burlington Farmer's market or City Market. Some of my favorites are: Thai Tea, Fior di Latte, Chocolate sorbet (yes, somehow they make a totally milk/nut free sorbet taste like a creamy brownie batter). You can find them at their shop or on Church St. during the summer months serving gelato from their cart.

Great tasting gelato (tastes so creamy that you would think it contains a lot of fat, but it doesn't so you don't have to feel guilty afterwards, sorbet is also rich tasting) plus the staff is very nice and helpful. This is a place worth going of you want quality ice cream, oops, I meant gelato.

Come with me, to the magical realm known as Shy Guy. Within its borders, the rules of normal dessert do not apply. Here, for instance, you can have apple cider doughnut gelato that tastes to perfectly like an apple cider doughnut and yet so perfectly like gelato that you might think you've stepped into an alternate reality, one where your tastebuds have ridden a unicorn over a rainbow into Wonka's factory. I brought a friend here from out of state. When the chocolate gelato touched his mouth his first words were: " I want to do so many things with this" without a trace of innuendo. Seriously, there is something ethereal about the quality and variety of this gelato, and I grew up working in Italian restaurants, so this isn't my first frozen desert rodeo. I don't know if the owner prefers his name posted here, but he and his employees are friendly and the price is reasonable, a bargain really for the quality of product you're paying for. You can find their cart on church street during the warm weather, but even in December here in the frigid north you can get quiescently frozen deliciousness on the weekends. Actually I don't know if its quiescently frozen, but it's damned good. Stop here, experience the magic. You'll thank me.
